As you walk in the door there is a large note that's flying in the room. The note has the following instructions on it.

Your goal is that your potion should do something. If you fail, that is alright.
You may test your potion on yourself if you believe it to be safe. There are Bezoars if you are wrong. Leave your potion here and send me a note letting me know what your potion does. If good, I will try to sell it and the money will go to Hogwarts.
You have exactly two weeks from the date and time of this note.
Worth 20 points.
ooc: Make a potion. Any potion, whether it works or not. Minimum of 6 posts, no max. PM me when you are done with what the potion is supposed to do and whether or not the potion worked. Due two weeks from the time and date of THIS POST. Have fun with it.
Daichi was pretty much excited about this homework. It was finally something that did not involve any stupid cleaning so the Slytherin had entered the open classroom with a good feeling.
With his school bag over his shoulders he found a desk and placed the bag down on top of it. He zipped the bag open and took out four vials, the ingredients he had found during the lesson.
Placing the vials to the side, the Prefect placed his bag on the ground and looked around. He didn't see his partner, Sonea anywhere in the room so he quickly checked his watch and saw that he was a little bit early.
He sat down on the chair and waited for the younger Slytherin
Potions homework… Sonea had been afraid that it would be difficult to make her own potion from the ingredients she had found, so she had asked a older student if he wanted to help her. She had asked Daichi, the prefect from Slytherin and he had no problems with helping her! Sonea was really thankful that he wanted to help her because she had been afraid that she would do EVERYTHING wrong if she was alone!
A few minutes later she saw Daichi, he already sat behind their desk and waited for her. “Hi Daichi!” greeted Sonea while she placed her bag behind her on the floor. She zipped her bag open and placed the ingredients she had found on the table so that Daichi could see what for ingredients she had. She had a Lavender, Motherwort, Nightshade and a Jobberknoll feather out of her bag and showed them to Daichi. “I have also my notes with me” said Sonea while she sat down next to Daichi.

Oh well. If the kid says he doesn't need help, though indirectly meant, then better leave him off to himself. With a deep breath, Zeke stood up reluctantly. "Okay then, if you say so," he said softly then frowned. GAH, this feeling. He hated this. He really wished he could have at least done something to help Forrest.
In general, he seemed like a nice kid and the seventh year felt really bad for leaving him alone. Maybe someone else would come along and help the boy? Guilty feels. But really it seems like there was nothing Zeke could contribute at all. Unless he was some kind of transfiguration expert.
....TRANSFIGURATION! Why didn't he think of it before? Wait, that was possible right? Ehhhh. Zeke had doubts. Okay nevermind, just walk away now mister. Walk away. He mumbled a quick "Sorry," and began to head for the door.
Forrest was shocked at boy's eagerness to leave so fast without any insistence whatsoever. Zeke didn't utter a 'No, I'll help'. See, he was out of the door already! Were his ingredients that hopeless?! Was he that bad that he just ran away as if he was contagious? Trying to erase the shock and panic off his face, he didn't call out for the boy. The room was more crowded now and they made noise. They chatted, because they actually had cool ingredients to work with. His eyes watered in despair as he looked around. He had never felt this bad in his life, and his mother was all away... Stuffing his pathetic ingredients inside his bag, he didn't bother to pick up the heavy potions book and rushed out.
There had to be some way. He had to try his chance with the professor. Even if it'd be a zero, he wanted to learn it privately, not in the middle of a crowded classroom.
Nigel had all his potion ingredients ready and the only thing left was to make something with them. It seemed that most of his stuff was used in Polyjuice Potion. But Nigel did have the recipe for it. But did not feel comfortable making it. He was no potion master.
So after some thinking he decided to try and mix some for the things together. He did not really care if it worked or not.
Okay, Now lets fill the cauldron with water and put a fire underneath it. It was the first step Nigel needed to do. Also a very important one. "Aguamenti".
Nigel looked as his cauldron filling up thinking. One less ingredient to worry about.

Tobias strolled into the potions classroom, eager to get started (and get creative) on what was sure to be a very interesting potions assignment. Straight away, he went to find his potions ingredients that he'd left on his desk earlier, as per the instructions: fluxweed, a tiny vial of salt, ginger root and lavender.
After setting up his cauldron and potions equipment, as well as preparing his ink and parchment (for he was still unsure of quite how to go about this task), Tobias surveyed his ingredients and placed the end of the quill feather in his mouth, occasionally rifling through his potions textbook, as he tried to work out what he was going to do.

Now it was boiling! Yay! Sky left it to boil for the required five minutes, grabbing a mortar and pestle instead. She cast a Scourgify on them before picking up the the chamomile and placed it in the mortar. Mash, mash, mashing the chamomile. She discovered that she had timed it out perfectly when she was writing out her instructions because it took almost exactly five minutes to mash the chamomile perfectly. She dumped the mashed plants into the boiling water and began stirring clockwise.
Beezus Castell's dark brown eyes immediately looked around for her younger Ravenclaw, Mika, as soon as she stepped into the classroom. She wasn't able to find the girl quickly, however, because her field of vision was then blocked by a note flying about. She snagged it irritably and was about to crumple it down had it not been for the content it withheld.
It had the set of instructions Professor Lafay had left for their assignment. Surely, she was out of her mind if she tried messing with that note. Nope. She wasn't exactly stupid. Being burned by their Potions Mistress or sent to detention wasn't in her sixth year bucket list.
She read over the instructions carefully before releasing the paper back into air. It was the only one around, it seemed.
Following what was written, she moved with enthusiasm and trudged over to the table she had been occupying for almost six years now. She'd always used that workstation. She was comfortable with it so she didn't want to change that. Unless....irreversible circumstances presented itself. In a matter of a few minutes, she had gathered her ingredients: unicorn tail hair, jobberknoll feathers, gillyweed and bubotuber pus. Then she made her way towards her waiting chickadee who was now cleaning her cauldron.
"Mika..." She nudged the girl as she settled her ingredients next to hers. If she wasn't wrong, the girl also had unicorn dung, aloe vera, peppermint and flobberworm mucus. Of course, she knew. They've planned out to work together on this one and Beezus had taken the liberty to asking what ingredients she had so she could do a research ahead of things. "So, I've looked up stuff. And I think I know what kind of potion we're going to brew." She nodded and gave the girl an encouraging smile.
She wasn't 100% sure but at least, she got the gist of things. Researching was a huge help, really.
Mika couldn’t help but beam when she heard what Beatrice had said. That was the most amazing thing anyone could have told her at all. She knew what they were going to make – which made making the potion so much easier.
“Really?” She asked the utter adoration for the prefect clear in her voice. “That is amazing – so, what are we going to be making?” She asked as she made room at the table for Beezus to sit down and set up her ingredients as well. Mika had of course whipped out her wand as she sat there talking to her.
“Scourgify” there, the cauldron was now extra clean. She smiled brightly, “So, what do you need me to do?” She asked taking a her parchment out she was of course going to make a list of what their potion recipe was. Because after all weren’t they making their own potion here; this could be a momentous occasion.

Amara walked into the classroom. They were supposed to be brewing something there....something? She'd thought the room would be empty where she could just sit and keep on thinking about her potions. But to her surprise, she found it teeming with students. Students already in the process of brewing something. The fact repulsed her. She still didn't have any idea of what she could make. She'd thought several times to owl her dad about it, but it would defeat the purpose wouldn't it? Asking for his help when he'd challenged her to learn potions to perfection.
She stood perplexed near the door, deciding whether she wanted to enter and make a fool of herself or leave for good.

His potion looked the right color. That made Clement happy. It obviously meant he was doing something right. He nodded, giving it a nice good look. He knew he was only at the start though. He hadn't exactly put all his ingredients in yet. Looking away from her perfect potion, so he would say himself, he looked back at his text books. "Chopped dried Nettles..." He murmured, glancing down at his nettles. Well they were kind of dry. More dry than they had been when he had collected them. Clement shrugged, and quickly cut up the remaining nettle leaves. He tried to be as careful as possible, figuring that them being neatly cut would be very good. It took him a few minutes, but he wanted them to be as neat as possible. He glanced back at the text book, before placing the chopped nettles into the cauldron gently. They floated on the top, and he glanced at the text book again. Ahh. They were supposed to do that. Very good.
"Stir 10 times clockwise....leave for 5 minutes...then stir 5 times anti-clockwise." He nodded, picking his wand up again, before stirring the potion 10 times in the clockwise direction. Now he needed to let the thing simmer for 5 minutes. He sat back down again, just watching the clock. Oh wow. Time was certainly going to go slow if he just watched the clock. Changing his focus of attention, he read the instructions in his text book again, though this was like the fifth time he had. The next time he looked up at the clock it had just gone 5 minutes. "Perfect."
Picking up his wand again, he stirred the potion 5 times anti-clockwise. Hmm. The potion was still the green color it had been before. He consulted the textbook again, and nodded. That was kind of right. It was a little bit too dark. But that was okay. So he thought anyway. Moving onto the next set of instructions then.

Laura was just going to get on with her potions homework when suddenly she saw Amara standing in the doorway. "Come on Amara." Laura smiled as she looked at the girl. "I'll help you, with your homework, we can do it together it will make it more fun anyway." Laura was sure that Amara was a bit scared about it, she walked over to her cauldron and waited to see if Amara would join her.

She was definitely turning back, returning to her common room when she heard that voice. Someone was surely talking to her. She turned around and spotted Laura smiling at her. The next words from the puff girl sounded like a perfect Christmas present to her.
"Really?" Her eyes widened. It took her some time to process the words. When they did, she gave a wide grin to the older girl and nearly ran towards her. YAY! She had a work partner. She could just dance! "OH thanks Laura!" said the little girl, the usual brightness now returning to her eyes. "I've been so lost with what to do..." she trailed. She moved nearer to the girl and sat down beside her. "So what are you making?" She was sure the girl would come up with something cool. She took out her ingredient packet. Now that they would do it together, she would like to see her ingredients wouldn't she?

Laura looked at Amara and smiled. "I have no idea what we are making, let's see what ingredient we have before we decide." Laura really couldn't wait to get started she took out her ingredient and smiled. "Well I have, Ashwinder eggs, caterpillar, Doxy egg and gillyweed." Laura wasn't sure what they could make with those ingredients." Laura smiled at Amara. "And what do you have." Laura hoped they had different ingredient otherwise this was going to be funny."

Her hope level went down a teeny bit. She was so sure the awesome girl would have some idea about a potion. Nevertheless, together they could make things count. She eyed her ingredients. "Didn't you sell all you're ashwinder eggs?" she asked. Gillyweed...OHHH! She knew that one!
Nodding in satisfaction, she piled out her ingredients. "We have..." she trailed as she placed them one by one. "Knot grass...owl feather...fluxweed...nettles..." And the last one. "..caterpillars" she said with a grin. "It doesn't count, just an extra ingredient" And the same as Laura's.
That didn't make much sense. Could they use ALL those ingredients in one potion? It would be a mess wouldn't it? "Should we use all these ingredients?" she voiced her doubt. Can they? It would be very unlikely to find a potion incorporating all the ingredients they had. "And..." A thought struck her. "...we can always get other necessary ingredients from the store room, right?" They had too. It wasn't certain that they could have all required ingredients.

Laura looked at Amara. "I think we might be able to get a potion made with these ingredients." Laura smiled truthfully, "But first we had better make sure everything is ready, "Scourgify!" Laura pointed her wand at the cauldron and smiled as she cleaned the cauldron was she was sure that it was really clean she stopped the spell.
Laura looked at the ingredient on the desk. "I think we should full the cauldron up water first." Laura smiled as she looked at Amara, "Want to do the honors of should I?" Laura knew if they were working together they should take it in turns doing things and so she thought it was only fair she gave Amara a chance to put the water in the cauldron." Laura then decided to add. "And if you want to set the fire under the cauldron once you've finished adding the water we can go from there."

Laura radiated some confidence with her smile and Amara was encouraged by that. And it was easy to get the girl encouraged with potions. She lined their ingredients and watched as the girl lighted the cauldron.
She smiled at the offer. "OH yes, I would loved to" She took out her wand and pointed at the cauldron. OKAY, water charm. Erm... "Aguamenti!" The cauldron filled up with water from the tip of her wand. She was awed at the sight. Magic always caught her open-mouthed.
Moving on to the lighting. Now that was just easy to her. She was a master at lighting things up. "Incendio!" she said confidently, pointing her wand at the cauldron. A brilliant flame burst below the cauldron, glimmering as it did, giving an unusual brightness to the surrounding. GRIN.

"Now what?"
Laura smilled, as she looked at the ingredient that they had with them "Now we have to decided what we are going to put in first, once the cauldron is ready." Laura smiled, as she looked at the gillyweed and cut it up. "I think we should put that in first." Laura smiled as she looked at Amara. "I think we should add in your knot grass in then and stir it and see what happens." Laura thought this was going to be worth watching them try and make a potion with the ingredient they have.
Laura put the gillyweed into the Cauldron and looked at it, hopefully once the knot grass was in the potion would look better than what it did at the minute, she smiled at Amara and waited for her to put the knot grass in, it was going to be funny to see what happens with this, she was sure.

Laura picked up the gillyweed. Approving nod. She watched as the girl cut the gillyweed and casted it into the cauldron. "So...we're experimenting?" she asked, as she watched. That suited just fine for her. Its what her father did all the time. Experimenting and finding new potions. And she was all game for it. The liquid became greenish blue after the gillyweed was mixed completely.
She nodded after the gillyweed was added. She picked her knotgrass and added them one by one. After the fifth, the liquid turned into a bright red lake. "What does that mean?" she asked. She now picked up her potions books from her bag and went through it. Trying to find something. Hopeless it would be, since they were experimenting.

She took a deep breath: "what can I do know? I thought I could chop the caterpillars. May I?" She asked and took a small and shiny knife from her rucksack.
"Oh, Jori, when I'm excited I often talk and talk and talk nonstop... If I'm driving you crazy, please, just let me know and I'll be quiet." She said imitating with her left hand the gesture of closing her mouth with a zipper, her eyes wide open and holding a smile.
A thought came to Jory when Anna said that she had confidence in their potion. "So, would you drink the potion then?'' he asked with a wink. He was kidding of course, She didn't have to if she didn't want to.
"Sure go ahead,'' the Puffer responded and shoved the jar of caterpillars towards her. He'd better get started on preparing the ingredients too. He had to smash the horned slug, so using the flat side of his clean knife, Jory carefully pressed on the slug. He found it a quite disgusting thing to do but it must be done.
After the seventh year was done with the slug, he retrieved a mortar and pestle. "Scourgify!'' he said. Just in case it was dirty. He counted out a few scoops of nettles in the mortar and began to crush them. After they were reduced to a powder, he added the remaining scoops and crushed those as well.
"You can cut the five daisies, Anna,'' Jory said. And then after that they could start brewing. "Don't worry about it. I'm used to having my sister going on and on.'' Not recently, though. He tried not to think of his sister.

Laura knew that it would be hopeless to look in the book since they were experimenting and doing whatever they could with the ingredient, "I think the ashwinder eggs should be next and with that she cracked the three eggshell and put the egg juice in the cauldron and then she threw the shells in the bin, she then stir it anti-clockwise three times and the potion went dark red. "This potions stinks." Laura didn't like the smell of it.

Laura grabbed hold of the three caterpillars and cut them up before putting every part of the caterpillars except the head into the cauldron and looked as it turned bright pink. Amara grinned. Now that was fun, wasn't it? "I wonder who'z going to drink it..." she trailed. She'd imagined some random buyer in the market open the cork and sipping the potion. Would he get gins and have knotgrass hands? HEH.
The potion turned a dangerous red and had a heavy stench. "Ewgh!" But the smell subsided as Laura added the caterpillars with great speed. Then it turned pink. "Merlin knows..." she said, winking. "...Bah, I don't like that color" She picked her fluxweed. "So let's change it!" And she added the fluxweed to the boiling pink liquid.
The liquid turned into a pale orange color and she could see something floating...something red. BLINK.

"This potion is going to look and taste weird, but I'm trying it and I think you should." Laura giggled as she stirred the potion 4 times clockwise, "That looks a bit better, the red was starting to go away but the potion didn't look good now, it looked like someone had thrown up. "Add something else quick." Laura didn't like the look of the potion at the minute.

Annabeth taked the jar of caterpillars and chopped it carefully.
Then he had suggested her to drink the potion??? Well, she didn't expect it!
"Um, Jory... you're not talking seriously when you asked me if I mind drinking the potion, aren't you?" Then she noticed he was joking and added: "I was thinking about to send it as a gift to the DADA's teacher... er... I forget her name. She's always that funny?" Annabeth smiled an rubbed her ribs: "my waist is still paining so much that I laughed during her class."
The first year student finished cutting the caterpillars and began to cut the daisies in small pieces. She loved cutting things. She was feeling relieved that Jory wasn't bothered with her anxious chat.

Daisy - Used in the Shrinking Solution, so it must have shrinking or compacting qualities.
Leech - Used in Polyjuice Potion and Shrinking Solution - They absorb things, namely blood, but would presumably soak up other things in a potion.
Spotted Owl Feather - Couldn't find anything for, but an Eagle Owl Feather is used in dragon tonic and must be a healing agent because it heals sick dragons.
Salt - Has healing properties. Can be used to treat scale rot, common in dragons. Used in medicines.
She looked around the Potions classroom, hoping someone might want to partner up with her. Maybe they would have things to use that could be mutually beneficial for a potion?
SERIOUSLY... SERIOUSLY... Minerva's mind was shouting the words as she walked into the potions classroom. Maybe if Lafay would have given a heads up that they would need to brew the ingredients together before they went and picked them, she would have picked a little better matched ingredients. What on earth was she going to make with chocolate, peppers, acorns, and lavender.... weirdest combination EVER...
As she sulked into the potion room her eyes scanned the other students and she froze for a second. Was Laura Hyde working with a first year. Oh my.. maybe it was good Minerva had come that day, because obviously Laura was sick and would soon crash to the floor if she was doing homework and helping a younger student.
Glancing at the other students Minerva saw Eliza looking as confused as she was feeling, walking over to her she smiled, "Hey Eliza, think you might want a partner? Maybe putting our ingredients together will make a better potion then I can come up with just using my four." She laid her bag down and gathered her ingredients. "I have chocolate, Jalapeno Pepper, Acorns, and Lavender. What did you gather?" Please have some normal ingredients Min thought, so that maybe she could figure out what to put together. Now a knew thought came to her mind did they have to use all eight or could they maybe leave one out.

"Um, Jory... you're not talking seriously when you asked me if I mind drinking the potion, aren't you?" Then she noticed he was joking and added: "I was thinking about the send it as a gift to the DADA's teacher...
"So, d'you have a sister?"
"Nope, I wasn't,'' Jory replied with a grin. "Just teasing you.'' Oh she meant Professor Romanos. "She's not always funny but she's not always strict either,'' he went on. "But I don't think you need to worry. It wasn't really allergies that had her sneezing so much. Apparently, Professor Flamsteed, the Astronomy Professor, put something on her.'' The two Professors made him laugh. He had noticed Professor Flamsteed had done something to Professor Romanos's seat at the Feast but he wasn't sure what. "And yes, I have a sister. She's fourteen.'' Anyway, he turned his attention to their ingredients.
"So, we have everything ready. The chopped caterpillars and daisies, the smashed horned slug and the crushed nettles. Time to brew!'' The Puffer set up their cauldron. "Anna, please get a cup so we can measure the water.'' In, the meanwhile, the Puffer would clean the cauldron.
He pointed his wand to it. "Scourgify!'' Now it was ready. He waited on the cup from Anna so they could add the water to it.
curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog
First things first, he needed to heat up his cauldron. Tucker used Aguamenti to fill up the cauldron and then he lit a fire underneath it. As he waited for it to heat up, he glanced around the room and tried to peek at what the other students were making. The odor in the room was a bunch of potions mixed together and it was nearly impossible to figure out from the smell what was going on in here!
So as he waited for the potion to continue boiling, he pulled out his potions book and looked up all the ingredients and tried to figure out what exactly he had to do to these ingredients before adding them, as well as how many stirs he'd need to do and all that fun stuff.

Ah, there the little Slytherin was!
Daichi gave her a small smile as he watched her taking out her own ingredients from her school bag. He surprisingly recognized them all. Must have been from the day and night OWL studying. "Hey Sonea" he when the girl sat down beside him.
"Okay first things first" he said as he looked around for a second to see what the other students were doing and then turned his gaze back to the cauldron in front of them. "We first need to clean the cauldron with Scourgify" he said. "I can already do the spell with ease so i want you to clean the cauldron first" They were all learning and re-learning them in classes so no saying you can't do it Missy!
"Do you want the ingredients to be chopped with a knife or just throw them in the cauldron?" he asked, letting her have a voice in this as well.
