Post 2 SPOILER!!: Ethan Scanning the blackboard Minerva took off her gloves and grabbed some parchment. It would be easier for her if she just wrote the directions down. Smiling to herself once it was done, she checked off the first step since she was indeed done with the potting soil. SPOILER!!: Notes That's when she heard the voice she had been waiting on, her smile grew as she looked up from her work station. "Hi there, I hope you don't mind I already grabbed my pot and put the soil in it. I wrote down the steps as well. Well I guess you probably don't need them though." She chuckled at that was dumb of her, he was obviously great at this kind of stuff, so he probably could plant a puffapod with his eyes closed. Looking at her notes, because she was certain she could not, she turned to him. "I forgot to grab the seed, I'll get yours as well." She made her way back up to the front and grabbed to puffapod seeds. Coming back to Ethan she looked puzzled. Now they had done this before in a lesson, maybe second term. She remembered standing on a chair or something to do it, but she was shorter Looking puzzled she raised her eyes to Ethan. "Now it says to drop from five feet. So do I just need to raise my hands up like this and drop from about this point?" She raised her hands to demonstrate where she was talking about. |
Post 1 Eliza trotted into the greenhouse, ready to start in on her herbology skills. They were always in need of improvement and planting more things was a good way to brush them up a bit. Also, the whole selling them to help out thing was a good reason to get a jump on the assignment as well. As she found a table, she saw that a lot of her friends had started already. Hmm, not as early as I thought, huh? She waved to a few and sat her bag down near Elise. Might as well get to know my captain a little better, right? She smiled at her and pulled her notebook from her bag. SPOILER!!: Notes She stood to go get her pot from the front of the room and said a few greetings on her way. "Hey Min, hey Ethan! How are you guys today?" As she got a little further, she noticed the professor herself was here. "Hi Professor!" she called our cheerily as she made her way. "Oh and hey there Lex!" This place was really chock full of good people today. After all of that, she grabbed a pot and filled it all the way with soil, just like they'd done in class. Then she grabbed another pot and sat it down again, remembering she'd be wanting her gloves for this. She ran back to her bag, pulled on the gloves, and went back over to the big 'ol bag 'o dung and scooped some of the, er, rich substance into the separate pot - and carried both pots back to her station. But then of course she needed a clean pot to put the contents from the other two pots into, right? So she went back again and grabbed a fresh pot. Once she finally felt ready, she sat the fresh empty pot on the table and scooped a few heavy handed helpings into it until it was halfway full. |
post 2.. and hi to Eliza! Text Cut: Minerva Ethan grinned widely at Minerva and glanced at her notes, nodding as they looked accurate. "I haven't done one of these in a while," he admitted, "But they're fairly easy to plant and I think I remember all the steps.. Good to have the preparation all written down anyway." He smiled at her organization, then pulled his pot a little closer to him to get ready to plant. Of course, he still needed his seed.. He nodded towards Minerva as she offered to obtain seeds for both of them and he spotted Eliza entering the greenhouse as he waited. Giving her a smile and casual little wave, he said, "Hey, Eliza.. doing well, how about yourself?" When wasn't he doing well when he was in his element? Hardly ever.. He smiled a bit to see her working with their captain, then turned back to his girlfriend as she returned. Ethan gave her a curiously look as Min seemed unsure of herself, then he smiled and nodded. "Yes, that's exactly right," he said, gauging the height at which she raised her arm. He gently brought her arm down with his hand and held the seed closer to her. "See this groove here?" he said, pointing it out along one side of the seed. "You'll want to make sure it's facing down when you drop it. It's the fragile perimeter that will burst open." He was sure she'd remember once she started, but wouldn't hurt to help her out, right? He picked up his own seed, then held it up to about his shoulder level, making sure the fragile perimeter was facing down. Ethan dropped the seed, watching it burst into flower as it hit the floor. "Easy, right?" Ethan grinned before picking up the newly-blossomed Puffapod and gently shaking out its roots, then placing it in the pot on top of the soil. |

Now Jory just had to label the tag but before that he had to make his notes. It was backwards but it didn't matter as long as he completed everything. He pulled out a quill, bottle of ink and book from his bag and set to work. That aside, he grabbed the tag and labelled it: Quote:

SPOILER!!: Ethan Minerva rechecked her notes as he glanced at them, well that was good that he didn't think she was completely odd for writing them down. Now it was time to do this puffapod drop. She smiled as Ethan put his hand on her arm, well if this is how all homework was going to go maybe she would be much eager to work on it, not that she wasn't anyway, but this was especially better then just normal homework. Anyway back to the little seed thingy... She tried to get her mind back into the actual homework as she heard him say something about make sure the what was down.. Oh no.. umm sure she knew what he said. Yep.. exactly what he said. Then she watched as he raised his and she started chuckling a bit, "Aww is that why you love me so much, I'm the height of the puffapod drop.." She knew she was much shorter then him, but it never really seemed to bother him and it sure didn't bother her. "I'm your little puffapod.. Still laughing she smiled at Eliza, "Hey Eliza, how are you." Oh now.. back to work.. game face Minerva.. She raised her hand again, " 5...4..3...2...1." she dropped the seed to the ground and watch it burst into the pretty flower. "I love these" she commented really to no one, bending down to pick it up she shook gently to get the roots out. Still holding it she looked back at Ethan. "What's next boss?" She gave him a teasing smile. |

"My uncle has told me really bad stories about Goblins. They're.... evil." At least that's what she had always been told. "I mean, couldn't that Goblin have used any other way to break the hourglasses? Did she have to bring that dangerous sword to a Castle full of children???" The Hufflepuff added, shaking the bloomed Puffapod on her hands and looking at the roots that were falling off to the ground. "Though I have to admit that that particular Goblin wasn't that horrible, since... well, she didn't really injure any of us..." Still! Argh! Sophie still got a bit nervous just by talking about it. After a little while, the fifth year noticed there were no more roots falling, so she turned to her pot again and placed the pretty bloomed flowers carefully in there. "Just imagine the entire Greenhouse ground covered with these!" Sophie smiled at the flowers as she worked on the soil around it a little better, making sure it was all right and the Puffapod was correctly planted. Sophie was patting the soil to make it all nice and perfect for the beautiful Puffapod when Alexa striked again with the Goblin talk. She stopped what she was doing and frowned slightly as she pondered. "I'm not sure... I don't think so." She said, placing her hands on the edge of the pot and eyeing the flowers some more. "I've heard Goblin swords are really powerful and very expensive. I'm not sure how rare they are, but I suppose there aren't many of them around." Sophie shrugged, finally turning around once more to look at the blackboard and read the next step. |
Post 4 - To Kace (HAHAHAHAHAHA) Quote:
Nat knew that there is a charm to produce water from the tip of her wand, but she couldn't do it yet, and so to prevent any mis-casted spells happening she decided to do it the muggle way: watering cans. She took the watering can from the supplies cabinet and sprinkled some water over the plant, dampening the soil with water. Then, she also sprinkled some Hippogriff dung. And that was the smelliest thing she has ever smelled. |

NEAT!! "I had no idea!! Did he tell you what makes them evil in the first place?? Woooow so epic!!! We went up against evil creatures and we almost won!!!" They did you know, if the Headmistress hadn't hadn't shown up and sent them all to bed. Really though, it was only after midnight, not even that late. She could have let them stay up a bit longer. That wouldn't have hurt anyone! "And I rather liked that goblin, she wasn't one of the smarter ones so I got away with some of the jewels!" BEEEEAAAM. Lex looked to her pot again before she forgot. "Aguamenti!" La de dah de dah, just giving it some wateeeeer. There! "Finite!" "Oh yes! Definitely! It'd all look so pretty! I'd probably even visit here more often!!" She liked looking at prettiful things and this place would definitely look more prettiful. YES, that WAS a word She reached over for some dung and plopped enough on the table for them both. "That makes the sword even neater! Aidan wanted it, I bet he'll want it even more knowing that." But of course that would probably be a problem given what Sophie just said. "Still, that sword was epic." Just an after thought as she began evenly distributing the dung in her plant pot. That should do it. Now about that label. |
Post 4- Jory and Natalie! When Jory said make the most of it, he remembered Belle telling him the same thing. He never realized how fast the year goes. He knew it was christmas time, just yesterday he felt like he was just trying out for Quidditch. When he said, if needed help with anything, Kace smiled and said, "I will make sure i will ask you and Belle is great! She is working on the farm and all for what i know so far. She hasn't mentioned if she got a job yet." He saw Jory was getting done and he realized he should work on his. Kace nodded when she agreed Herbology was interesting. "Oh muggle plants and magical plants are very different. Are you from a a muggle family?" he asked curiously. "I am a half blood, so i am exposed to all muggle things as often as my father can." he grinned at her. Then he looked down at his notebook to see what he had to do. SPOILER!!: Notebook Alright so now he needed to find a water can. He looked for one and found one in front of the room. That was the one thing he forgot to bring to his desk. Well *shrugs* it was a start at least. He brought it back and then watered his plant. He made sure it wasn't drowned and had the right amount. After he brought it back and checked it off, he realized he had to get Hippogriff dung fertilizer Great....he was gonna stink today....just wonderful.... He sighed and got it from the front of the room and then could smell it just from the cup he got of it. He pinched his nose and the sprinkled it with one hand. He was never fond of manure smells. He hated when his mom used it back at home. Once he was finished with it and got used to the smell after a while, he realized he had one more step to go. |

Casting a nonverbal Aguamenti, she moved her wand over the pot to make sure all sides were being watered. o_______o "Um... yeah, I suppose." The Hufflepuff blinked at Alexa's comment on having gone up against evil creatures and almost winning. The brunette widened her eyes at the Gryffindor's next comment. "You what??" Sophie was so shocked she completely forgot she was still watering the Puffapod and splashed water all over herself before lifting the spell. She stared at the younger girl with a shocked expression, ignoring momentarily the wetness of her hair falling on her face. "What are you going to do with those??" Still holding her wand and looking at Alexa with wide eyes in disbelief, Sophie forgot about the prettiness of the Puffapods and flowers they were talking about. And apparently Alexa wasn't even done yet! Sophie would have sworn that those kids were just messing around when they spoke those things, but she was there during the incident and she had seen how mental they were really acting. So that Aiden kid probably meant it when he said he wanted the sword. "Alexa, this is serious! Goblins can be evil and dangerous!!" Or... so she had heard. She just hoped all Goblins were in fact like that one they saw by the hourglasses... |
Post 5 SPOILER!!: Sophie See that right there? That was Sophie assuming that Lex paid attention to anything that was taught in History of Magic class. Granted, it did all ring a bell so she wouldn't act as if she was completely clueless. "Oh right...those people...things...yeah." Now if only she could remember what was said about their deeds. Eh, probably nothing too important. "And it doesn't seem like they'd do anything because Peyton's still in one piece." Pffft. Lex busied herself scribbling her information on to the label and got through with the last of it just in time to hear Sophie's reaction. Priceless. She couldn't help but giggle. "It wasn't that hard, no one was looking and the Goblin was busy trying to get Peyton off the hourglasses." It was almost too easy. Quote:
"And anyway, no one got hurt!" BEEEAAM. |
post 3 Sarah looked down and behold, it had blossomed. She caredully bent down and picked it up. She really did not want to mess with its roots, so she held it carefully with her one hand and with the other hand began to dig the hole for it. Perhaps it was not so methodically done yet it got done. That was important okay? Sarah was glad that Herbology was not as stringent as potions. Now how was she meant to shake out the roots? Her facial expression showed her emotions in side, the emotion of caution. She careful shook it hopefully that was shaking out the roots. Placing it carefully in the hole Sarah began to move the soil that she had displaced before over the hole again. Was she allowed to pat it? She would need to look it up. Really she would like to pat it and then look it up afterwards, then say it was a mistake, yet she knew taht would be irresponsbonsible. She wondered why one could not pat it, was the plant sensitive to touch? |
In an happy mood, the Slytherin Prefect bounced his way towards Greenhouse seven. As he entered the greenhouse he immediately found a place for him to work at the long working table in the middle of the room. Taking off his scarf and school bag from his shoulder, he placed it beside him and took out his gloves from the bag. He put them on and began to walk swiftly to the other side of the looooong table. He then grabbed a medium sized pot and filled it with potting soil before walking back to his place. Standing at the table, the Prefect placed the pot on the surface and looked around. So..what was he supposed to do know? Scratching his head, he suddenly gasped when he remembered he still had his notes in his bag from class. Good thing he had listened to the professor back then~ Taking out his notebook from his school bag, Daichi flipped the pages until he was at the Herbology section and smoothed out the page so that he could read it. So next step was to drop a puffapod? Seemed easy! Daichi looked around and found a few puffapod seeds on the other side of the table, he leaned forward to grab one and dropped it on the ground. Immediately , the inpact caused the pod to blossom and he picked it up carefully. |

Taking a deep breath to try and get that madness off her mind, Sophie shook her head slightly and went to get some Hippogriff dung. Hm... "You know, maybe the Headmistress would like it if you gave her the gemstones." Sophie commented as she sprinkled the dung all around the soil in her pot. "Like you said, it might be worth lots and we all know Hogwarts really needs it now." She added, backing of from the workstation a little when she finished the fertilizing. "Though... you might get in trouble... I think." Sophie bit her lip and used the back of her gloved hand to take her hair off her face. That was true. No one got hurt and it was the most important thing, Sophie had to agree. "I just hope people realise how dangerous that was and... if anything like this happens again, they won't do act that way again." Hiiinttttt, Alexa! That was totally a hint. Blink. Taking off her gloves, Sophie pulled out her wand again and waved it in the air, her name, house and year appearing in one of the tags. She stuck it to the pot and Scourgified the workstation. Sophie chuckled at Alexa's comment of her being the expert. "Well, not really, I just like to be on the safe side." And she totally believe her uncle's stories. And the things they studied in History of Magic too, y'know. Shiver. |
Herbology Homework #2: Post 1. Dylan entered the Herbology Workshop prepared to handle business. Yep, it was time to do some homework...and the homework was rather simple. All he came equipped with was his wand, notebook, and gloves. Everything else was already here and would be at his disposal. Spying the new set of directions for a new plant, Dylan copied them to his notes. Just for reference and NEWT-study. SPOILER!!: Dylan's Herbology notebook! With that out of the way, he decided to get right to it. Dylan went about grabbing one of the medium sized pots and began scooping potting soil into it. All from the giant bag, of course. The board indicted that it only needed to be filled to the halfway mark...So, once he'd done so, the Captain carefully slid it to the side. Now, he needed to decide what color seed he wanted... |
Post 4 Marigold took her puffapod in the pot and poured some water over it. Maybe it was just her, but it seemed like the stem perked up already. She smiled and added a little more water for luck. Then she added some of the fertilizer. It stank, but she knew it would pay off.. hopefully? |
Post 5 Kace checked his last step of the day. He was glad he didn't have to deal with the stinky hippogriff dung anymore. All he had to do was write a name tag. Oh that shouldn't be so hard. He took off his gloves and found a quill to use in his bag. He realized there was name tags by his work space. How convient eh? He began to write his name on the label..... Quote:
Once he was confident enough and looked it over twice, his workspace was good as new. He brought his plant to the front of the classroom and then now he was offically done! |
post 3 SPOILER!!: Minerva What's next.. He smiled widely at her words and gestured towards his own plant. "Gently place your plant, root down, on top of the soil in your pot. Then you're going to want to cover the roots and fill in the rest of the pot with soil." He demonstrated this with his own plant, scooping up the soil from the bag with the hand spade and settling it into his pot. He continued until the pot was full and gently patted it down around the plant. "Then gently pat the soil down like I just did.. not too compact though. You don't want to suffocate the roots.. Do you want to use my spade?" He held it out for her to use on her own plant. |
post 2 After picking up the the pod carefully with his gloved hands, the Slytherin examined it for a second as he held it up close to his face. He never liked the color pink but strangely enough, he did now. Pink was a light color and light equals happiness! And Ducks..and Icecream as well, they AAALLL equal happiness! Shaking the pod to get the roots out, Daichi placed it in his medium sized pot and smiled. He was doing gooood right? Yeah, he was pretty proud of himself right now. Especially because he hadn't really paid attention in class. Though...something was missing. The Slytherin looked around at what the others were doing and as he stared at the pots he suddenly realized what it was. He had forgotten to dig a hole in the potting soil! Giggling like crazy, Daichi picked up his puffapod and with he use of his gloved finger he dug a hole in the potting soil. Then he placed the pod inside and brushed the remaining soil on top of it. |
1 West arrived in the Greenhouse eagerly, mostly because he knew it'd be warmer inside than what it was outside and that was as good of a reason as any to be glad to do an assignment right? That and the fact that he actually really liked plants. West wasn't sure what exactly the task at hand would be, but he was prepared. He'd brought his gloves and his wand and a bag with a few other bits and bobs and even quill and parchment just in case he had to write something (which he rarely did so that was totally a thing. Totally prepared). He went inside and found a work space for himself. Now to set up. His bag went on the ground, his gloves went on, and he checked his wand was secure in its holster, and then West went to collect the supplies he needed. A pot. Soil. Fertilizer. a Puffapod seed. A label. All of these things he fetched and brought back to his work area before taking a good look at the instructions on the blackboard. Not too bad. Would be easy enough to get through pretty quickly. West checked the puffapod seed, taking a look to make sure it wasn't damaged in any way. Once he was satisfied with that he put it aside and grabbed a trowel. Yep, he was ready to get started. |
Herbology Homework #2: Post 2. Deciding on a purple seed...because his girlfriend loved purple...AND it was better than pink or orange, Dylan readied himself. He needed to drop it about five feet...and he himself was almost six feet tall...So, that'd be about right under his chin down to the floor. Working out the measurements and such, he took a deep breath and released the seed, 'fragile' end down...Dylan hadn't realized he'd continued to hold that breath until the seed had actually made contact with the ground. His eyes followed it's path curiously, dropping down to where the fully bloomed purple flower now sat. He'd never worked with this type of plant before....but that was rather brilliant. Where....could the Captain get a whole bunch of these seeds? Still a little amazed, he knelled down and gently scooped up the pretty flower, being just as gentle with its roots. The instructions has specified to do so...So, he was. Yep, shaking them out all super!gentle like... After completing that step, Dylan eased it into the awaiting pot... |
post 3 When he had been busy , the notebook on the table had closed shut. Daichi opened it on the right page again and read the instruction. Check..check..done that..oh! watering! The Slytherin flicked his wrist and his phoenix feather core wand fell out of its holster and in to his hand. He was about to point the wand at the pot and cast the Aguamenti spell when he remembered that his Aguamenti blast was too strong and he couldn't control it. So basically he was afraid that he would destroy the pot. Sprinkling in the air wasn't going to do much either cause that was going to take time and he would accidentally spray water on other students. Having an idea, Daichi bend down to open his school bag and took out his own personal cup he had to use during the year. Placing the cup on the table but still holding it steady, he pointed his wand inside and said. "Aguamenti!" Water spurted out of the wand and it filled the cup rapidly. In only two seconds Daichi said "Finite" to stop the spell and looked inside the cup. It was filled to the brim. Seeee the pod would have drowned had he not done this! He picked up his cup and carefully watered the potting soil. |
2 West scooped the soil into the flower pot, using his trowel to cut down on spillage and mess. He was being careful about it and all. He eyeballed it. That was about halfway right? A little more? West shook the pot so that it was level and then added another half scoop of soil.... perfect. So that was ready, now it was time to burst the puffapod seed. He knew how it worked in theory and was eager to see it in action. The interesting part to him was that he'd always thought that puffapods only came in pink, so when he'd seen orange and purple seeds he'd got even more interested. Where did those ones come from? Somewhere different? Were they the same kind of puffa? Did they have any different characteristics aside from their colour? He had decided to go with a pink one though, only because he'd never broke a pod before and thought for the first one ever that doing the standard colour would be a good idea, it just sorta felt right and all that. Now, it had to be from five feet. He was tall enough that he could just hold the pod above his head and drop it, the trick would be making sure it fell on the right side, the fragile edge being the part that made impact. So no spin on the drop then. He was PROBABLY overthinking this, but West wanted to do it right. He also didn't want to be in the way when the thing actually bloomed all suddenly either, in case it grew up through his shoes or something. Awkward. So West stepped back, puffa pod in hand, and looked to the ground. Ready ground? |
Herbology Homework #2: Post 3. Once he'd gotten the roots all nice and tucked into the pot...so that none would be straggled and/or stranded, Dylan started scooping more potting soil. He'd only filled the pot halfway previously...So, there was still a lot of space to fill around the flower bloom...since it sat high off the ground. This took several moments...as the Captain worked his Quidditch muscles to get the job done...and once it was, he didn't waste time moving onto the next thing. With gloved fingers, Dylan lightly patted at the soil...making sure not to suffocate the roots. That was a thing...and he wasn't trying to kill any plants...lest Professor Bentley have his head. He didn't want to die or anything...Just sayin'. Then he was pulling his wand and whispering "Aguamenti." He capped the tip and misted the soil...just to give it some moisture...and not drowned it. That was a thing, too...Once he felt this was done to par, he negated the water with "Finite." |
3 West held his arm out in front of him level with his shoulders. He was tall enough for this, 5'11 last he checked, so his head was about what... ten inches? It was cutting it close though. Hmm. West raised his arm a little higher, still keeping it outstretched though since he didn't want the pod to break toooo close to him. Above head level. That was good. He eyed his hand and turned the pod edgeways, so that the fragile part was facing down. In theory he could just drop it now and it would fall straight and impact on the edge and then burst open and he'd have done it exactly right. Right. A countdown sorta felt needed? West eyed it. Three..... Two.... One.... Drop! He let go and held his breath, watching it fall. |
