| | Gryffindor Study Tables graphics by sweetpinkpixie As far away as possible from the hustle and bustle of the central part of the common room, you'll find several tables and chairs have been provided to assist you with your homework and studying. Whether you're working on a project, completing some homework or simply want to relax and read, you've come to the right place.
The shelves lining the study area are stocked with reading material for all classes, and limited supplies of spare parchments, ink and quills. It seems as though some of the stock hasn't been replaced over the summer holidays, so be sure to bring your own.
All in all, it is the perfect place to sit with friends and tackle any homework that comes your way.The most important thing to remember is not to stress... help is always given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it. So if you need advice, ask a peer or a professor, or even a portrait, who knows where you will find your answers. |

| Astronomy Homework post 2 After cleaning the room, Melanie levitated the vacuum cleaner back down the stairs, ready to clean the common room out a bit. And more importantly, she'd have to clean out the study area. The study area was such an important place and having it all dusty might make people get watery eyes or start having a coughing fit while completing their assignments and that was a big NO in Melanie's book. While she went down the stairs though, she didn't stop singing once. Because it was fun and it reminded her that sometimes cleaning could be fun too. "I'm not gonna write you a love song, 'cause you ask for it, 'cause you need one," Melanie sang, loudly. It didn't seem like many Gryffindors would care anyways.
Plus, this was practice for when she got older and famous and sang on big stages. She could not let her audience intimidate her into running away. Nope, she'd have to use all of her Gryffindor bravery and stay. Melanie lowered the vacuum cleaner onto the ground before picking up the hose and pretending it was a microphone for a moment. "You see, I'm not gonna write you a love song, 'cause you tell me, it's make or break in this, if you're on your way~"
Not strange at all. Melanie stopped and pulled her wand out, making sure the hose wasn't pointed at her and tapped on it. "Vacavus!" she said clearly, pocketing her wand and starting to sing again. "I'm not gonna write you, to staaayyyyy~ If all you have is leavin' I'mma need a better reason to write you, a love song, today," she sang, sucking up the dust from under the tables and chairs, doing a little dance as she did so.
Melanie stopped singing for a bit to cough into the crook of her arm. All this dust could not be good for anyone. So she continued to keep cleaning and singing her song. And anyone who was staring, well, Melanie was glad they could hear her sing now because when she became famous, it'd be expensive for a ticket.
Except for Miss Louisa, Melanie had promised her that she could come. And for Alice. Because... well... she was Alice. Right. Back to cleaning. Melanie got the dust from behind the shelves, keeping one hand on the light weight objects to make sure they didn't fly away before noticing the diminishing supply. Oh... that wasn't good. Melanie shook that thought from her mind and sucked up some more dust from behind curtains.

Gargoyle box out, thinking cap ON.
Alice always had her thinking cap on recently, because she so needed it. For instance, she needed it daily for class, and then just as regularly for study preparation for OWLs, and right now she needed it for Transfiguration homework. What was she supposed to do with this gargoyle again? She pulled it out of the little box Bellaire had given them and sat it upright, examining it thoughtfully. Teach it new tricks? It new how to march, that was for sure. And, um, stand on its hind legs.
So. Other than that, it needed to learn things. She was READY.

So. Other than that, it needed to learn things. She was READY. She hadn't lost her gargoyle, nooope. That would be completely irresponsible of her and completely what happened. The thing was simply misplaced in all the mess that was her dorm. It wasn't her fault that the room wasn't very clean...come to think of it there was no one to blame because she refused to blame Toddles. He was doing his best.
Anyway, like she said, it wasn't lost because she found it and made her way down to the study tables, only just a half an hour few minutes late for meeting Alice. "Ready to get started?" She asked, sliding into a chair near her and pulling the stone thing from the box. "First things first, making them move again." It got a quick look and so did Alice's before she whipped out her wand. "Piertotem Locomotor." Now Alice's needed to start moving too so they could get this thing started.

"You're, like, thirty two minutes late. I should have gotten you a clock for your birthday," Alice informed Lex as she slid into a chair, giving the third year a hard look before pulling out her wand and tapping it against her nose. "We've got work to do. You ready? D'you know what you're doing with yours yet?" She directed her hard look towards the gargoyle, staring the stone statuette down for a second before voicing her own ideas. "I want to make mine fly. But I think I'll start out with something simpler first." Wand at the ready, now, TOO.
Alice was just ready in all sorts of ways.

Alice was just ready in all sorts of ways. "Yeah...the little guy thought it would be neat to play a game of hide and seek first, not to worry, I totally won." BEAM. She always won, just ask her Daddy. "And the clock wouldn't do much, I think I'd lose it too." A rather curious thought when she got down to it. The poor clock. Good think Alice didn't, huh?
She glanced over at the gargoyle that was hovering, her guess, waiting for some kind of instruction. "I started mine with flying during the lesson, he's good on loop de loops so I bet yours can get right into that. Maybe we could have them practice some rolls? You know, like a floor routine to go with the flying?" That could work and they'd be less likely to hurt themselves...or someone else for that matter. "Have you tried getting yours to back flip or do a somersault?" Those could be a good place to start. "Let's have a go at it. You," She hadn't gotten around to naming him yet, OKAY?? Bad things happened once they got a name!!! "Let's see you try a back flip. Go."
She watched with expectant eyes but nothing happen. It...it wasn't even moving. Hadn't it heard her earlier? Didn't it see the flicking and wand waving???

"We could get you a watch, one of those waterproof Muggle ones that the castle's magic won't botch up, and then you can't lose it, 'cause it'll always be on your person." Alice closed one eye and held her gargoyle at arms length, adjusting and readjusting it on the table until she was sure it was exactly at the right angle. He looked fine, didn't he, all ready to be ordered around into funny shapes and gymnastics moves? She thought so.
Wait. "But yours isn't going to work," she said decidedly, grabbing Lex's wrist and stopping her from moving the wand again. "You said it wrong, it's Piertotum, not Piertotem." Alice nodded at her seriously before saying the incantation herself, wand out. "Piertotum Locomotor." The stone seemed to shudder just a bit, like a ripple was moving through it, before it halted again and waited for further instruction. "Um. Do a somersault." She watched it expectantly and waited for it to do one, brightening visibly when it did. "Think he can do a cartwheel, too?"

How was she supposed to remember where she kept most of her stuff? There was a reason why Aidan was keeping her cutlery for her, you know.
But that wasn't what she was occupying her mind with now, she was more focused on the fact that the gargoyle wasn't doing what she said. It was two seconds away from being called rude but just as she raised her wand again Alice had caught her wrist.
Oooooohhhhh. "I guess that would explain it..." She lowered her wand slowly and watched Alice animate her own stone gargoyle. She tried again. "Piertotum Locomotor!" This time, it did move. It did more than move actually because it was back to that lazy stretching it had done back in the classroom. It got a look from her before she turned to Alice again. "Give it a try, just not near the edge of the table, if he falls he might break." And she didn't think Professor Bellaire would have appreciated that very much.
Lex jabbed hers in the stomach--not hard but the jab was there. "Try a cartwheel with Alice's." And this was were it waited on Alice's so they could be in sync.

That's what watches are for, y'know. Or stop taking them off so you won't lose them. Or summon them, you're a witch, right? And I taught you that spell last term. Should work so long as you don't lose your wand, and if you do, someone else can summon it for you." There, problem solved. Alice watched her statue somersault across the table a couple of times, telling to to stop right before it rolled off. What next, cartwheels? She gave the statuette more pointed looks full of expectations before continuing. "So, yeah. Do a cartwheel, little gargoyle thing." And it DID, right alongside Lex's, as gracefully as clunky things could cartwheel around. She stared as the stones twisted over each other all about the table before commanding it to do more tricks again. "Do a split." This time, Alice was reduced to a giggling mess while the statue funnily splayed it's limbs outwards in a gargoyle-ified version of the spread out position. Entertainment. That's what this was.
Now. Now could she make it fly? "Stop again."

Now. Now could she make it fly? "Stop again." That was actually some good advice right there. "When you put it like that you kill any excuse I have for being late to Arithmancy and HoM." She couldn't very well tell the Professors that she lost track of time before she knew it when there was an Alice poking holes in said excuse. "And I actually forgot I knew that spell, would have come in handy a few times." Like with her cutlery...though she didn't mind Aidan keeping them for her because it meant they had all their meals together.
All her attention was on the gargoyles as they cartwheeled across the table. Her breath caught in her throat when hers got a little too close to the edge for comfort, luckily he had some good balance. "Try to be more careful, I don't want to have to replace you." But she would have to if he went and got himself broken.
Hahahaha! Alice had hers doing a split! Naturally she was giggling too but no, she needed to stay focused. "Do a handstand please." Those were good too.

"Why would you want to he late to History of Magic this term, though? Isn't your nee favorite board member teaching that class?" Alice's voice was careful now, guarded, almost. The fishy Vinteren guy was a tough subject to speak on, especially with girls from his little fanclub, like Selina or Lex. Either way, she was positive Lec wouldn't be missing out on a single moment of his lessons, that was for sure.
But back to the gargoyles. She cast aside all thoughts of shifty professors and began ordering around her statue again. Alice could get used to this, telling things exactly what to do. "Okay. NOW fly." It stayed still for a momemt, probably thinking of how it was going to go about completing the task, when its stone wings began to flap. So hard that it lifted off the ground, only for a few seconds before it sank back down, but it had hovered nevertheless, right? "Finite." She glanced at Lex. "I think I'm done."

She hadn't forgotten that, definitely not but the idea of her having to like HoM now hadn't quite sunk in. "I'll be one of the first ones there, even without a watch. You should be too. Mr. Vinteren's a very smart man, taught me to blow things up. You'll learn loads." It was hard to believe but she was actually looking forward to a History class. Who would have thought???
Lex assessed her gargoyles handstand as Alice's took flight. Not bad at all, a little less shaky than her own gargoyle when he'd tried flying. "Nice work, walk around on your hands for a bit." She leaned forward onto the table and watched the thing hobble it's way around the table. He looked so funny doing it too. She watched him go on like that for just a little more before Alice cast another spell and announced that she was done. Oh? Was that all they'd be doing for today? Okay!
Lex drew her own wand once more. "Finite!" And with that the thing went still again. "We can work on them again later or something, after I've gotten something to eat." With that she picked it up and put it back in it's box. "Let's go grab some ice-cream down in the kitchen!" Perfect thing to do after homework.

| different timeline ///Divination Hw post 3 - bedtime reading Gryffinclaw-Ravendor • The REAL Hermione Granger
The day was finally over and Sarah had been about to go to be when she remembered that she needed to do her reading. She brought her cup and saucer out and put it in front of. THen as usual she did her thing. She added water, heated it up with a spell added the gross tea and waited 2 minutes. Then she did meditations (She was anyways going to do self hypnosis late r in bed yet now she could do it as well) and thought of something. She wanted to find out what was the future for Hogwarts. All this strange happenings was not enough and Sarah wanted to know what was behind all this and what should she do. She focused on her breath and the aweful taste and soon she had only a bit of her tea left which she turned upside down and dumped the liquid on the saucer, waited three breaths and then turned it back over. She then peered into the glass and reported her findings in her journal:
With this all done, Sarah was feeling tired. She closed her journal and put away her things. She cleaned out the cup and saucer and put them back in her bag. Drowsily she made her way back to the dorms

It wasn't that she couldn't have this thing decorated back in the classroom but there were a few things she wanted to grab from her dorm that she'd forgotten about earlier. No time like the present though right? Lex headed back here with a few ribbons in her hand, grabbed some sprinkles from her trunk then sat at the study table to work.
This was much more comfy than the actual study tables in the library and she felt like there was less pressure, you know? Like maybe the books here weren't judging her because she was among her own kind? Something like that.
Lex placed the gandr flat on the table. "Adhaero!" She did this all over it's surface then went back over it getting sprinkles everywhere. Once she was sure it was nice and dry she flipped it. "Adhaero!" Then more sprinkles. Sparkly on both sides? She approved. Lex was always drawn to shiny things.
Then she took the ribbons--the BLUE ones and adhaero'd them too then stuck them to the end of the wand. Theeeeeeeeeere.
Now it looked prettiful!!

Moving from the common room to the study tables, Alice has a fresh shet of parchment out, ready for song writing. How was she supposed to write of these exactly? She could barely even sing, let alone thing of lyrics. Probably anything that came from her quill would sound despondent, but hopefully there were better things she could think of.
Like.. how was.. thanks for letting us make parchment out of you, our quills sure appreciate all that you do..? She rubbed her hands together and grabbed an inkwell, trying to write more before the only poetic parts she had stopped functioning altogether.
Totally had this down.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sarah Edwards

| AR assignment post 10 Gryffinclaw-Ravendor • The REAL Hermione Granger
Sarah was exhausted, yet satisfied. She knew her gandr was safetly in her bag now along with pouch. Maybe she should start writing the song now? Sarah had never written a song before, although she had written poems. But to a tree? Sarah still thought this worshipping of a tree was ridiculous, but she never had a choice on the matter.
She took out a partchment and quill and began to write a poem: Its time to thank the trees
for the gifts its bestowed on me
from wood to shade and air
all of which I look on without a care
Was that alright? Sarah began to sing it, putting it to a random tune. She tried and tried until she got a tune. It was a good thing she had a vast library. of songs on memory. She stifled a yawn.
It was time to head to bed, she would continue in the morning
