| | |  Gobstones Match: Hufflepuff vs. Gryffindor
The building used for the Gobstones matches had had it's doors opened to the brisk, early autumn air and it's surfaces magically dusted by Professor Romanos and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's first match.
The red and gold marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch. OOC: Remember only members sorted into Gryffindor and Hufflepuff Houses can post in this thread, it is not a chat thread and there is no rping. Read the Gobstones Rule book before playing and if you did last term, please check again because it's been updated. The thread is moderated so your answer won't show up until the sponsors allow it. Oh yes, it was definitely the goo smell that distracted the players. However, the air seemed to clear after another minute, and Jory Stonewall decided to give it another shot now that his mind was clear and focused. Melanie Sung stood up for the Gryffindors, taking her position and aim with her red stone. As the stones rolled down the playing 'field', the yellow stone swerved a little and tapped against the red stone, causing it to roll right passed the Jack stone while the yellow shooter hit it straight on. The clear air apparently wouldn't stay clear for long, as the gobstone spit the putrid smelling goo at the Gryffindor.
"Two points to Hufflepuff!" Medea announced, grimacing at the sight.

With the game coming close to it's end, Jory Stonewall pushed through the rancid smell that formed around them and put all his focus on aiming his yellow stone perfectly while Melanie switched her position with Alexa Cambridge. It seemed the girl didn't mind the smell all that much and was clearly focused as much on aiming as Jory was. As the the two stones rolled into play, it was unfortunate that the red stone stopped a few inches from the Jack stone. However, Jory's yellow shooter stopped mere centimeters, giving him and his teammates the round.
"The point goes to Hufflepuff!" Medea announced, unplugging her nose to do so. Ahem.

After letting her teammates have a good chance with their turns, Ella Bishop stood up once again, ready to put the yellow stone into action. Alexa Cambridge kept her position, as determined and ready as ever, shown in her expression and stance. Perhaps even ready to try a new trick! The red stone was first to roll down the playing 'field', followed quickly by a perfectly straight yellow stone. Whatever Alexa had been planning, the yellow shooter seemed to be a bit too quick for the red stone as it swerved right behind it, narrowly missing each other by a paper thin distance, allowing the yellow shooter to hit the Jack stone straight on.
"Oh dear..." Poor Alexa was covered by the gobstone's putrid goo. "Three points to Hufflepuff!"

Their cheers of motivation were almost becoming as loud as Professor Flamsteed's song from the stands, in which Medea couldn't help but tap her foot to. Ella Bishop readied her aim once more, not willing to risk a change of players in case it brought down bad luck of an unsteady hand. Alexa Cambridge didn't let the putrid smell of the goo bother her as she set herself up once again to roll her red stone. As the two stones were put into play, it was clear they both couldn't have rolled in a more straighter line towards the Jack stone, however, the yellow shooter had the speed, being the one to hit the stone first.
"Two points to Hufflepuff!" Medea announced, tapping the score board.

OH! Was that Miss Dawnsel joining in with the creative cheer too? How fun!
With a good lead in front of the Gryffindors, the Badgers seemed to have started to relax, even slouching in their seats with smug looks appearing on their bright and sunny faces. The Lions were still mighty determined however, and Oichi Paulidine took her position alongside the Hufflepuff player. Their easy going attitudes had them becoming sloppy however, for the yellow shooter rolled right passed the Jack stone and out of play. Oichi seemed to be a bit more determined, however, even she miscalculated the angle and power behind her red stone, for it rolled right passed the Jack stone as well.
"Come on, now. Don't give up!" Even if the end was near.
