The beginning of term was upon them and even though the first week or so had already passed and everyone was practically settled in, the first Divination lesson of the term had yet to happen. Today was the day though and the trapdoor to the classroom was open and the ladder was lowered.
Professor Elwood sat excitedly at her desk by the chalkboard awaiting the students. The room was set up like it usually was, a few seats around little tables among the risers; the windows opened up to allow what slight breeze there was to flow in. What other point was there to be in a tower classroom?
The cutbacks the rest of the Castle seemed to be having didn't seem to have effected this room, at least on the surface. Go ahead and take a seat while you wait for the Professor to start the lesson.
**The lesson has now STARTED. If you post your student entering now it will result in a POINTS LOSS. If you'd like to join, just rp your character as if they've been there the whole time.
Ethan felt the tea had brewed long enough and opened his eyes as he finished his meditation. The certain thought kept fighting to come to the surface as he relaxed, so perhaps this was what the reading would be about.. yes, he was sure of it. That was how these things worked, right?
He glanced over to the girl next to him and gave her a small smile before picking up the cup with his left hand. He used his right hand to hold his nose as he tipped the contents of the cup into his mouth. Ugh.. even with his nose plugged he could taste how awful it was and he had to stop drinking for a moment. Taking a deep breath, he plugged his nose once more and drank the rest, leaving just a small amount in the bottom.
And now it was time to see what the leaves would tell him. He gave the cup three good swirl, dispersing the leaves around the bottom. Then he dumped the cup over onto the parchment saucer and let it rest there for a moment before doing his reading.

Sarah wondered how she was going to swirl it, so instead she just swirled the cup. One two three. The tea sloshed around at the bottom and Sarah was quite surprised it did not splash in her face.
Then Sarah adjusted her saucer and quickly dumped her cup over in it. She took three breaths as she watched the liquid seep into the partchment and spread around it. It was like transpiring.
After her third breath Sarah turned her cup the right way up. Now the actul thing was to begin. She did not want to look at it right away, so she read over the instructions again. Then she realised that the time was then and she had to begin.
She assumed the 12 o'clock was from her view point and she mentally divide dthe cup into three areas. She was not sure if her dividing was right yet she decided to march on ahead.

So he could easily not talk for two minutes, it wasn't like he HAD to say words. He was good with just thinking them and conversing with himself in his own mind, so this no talking thing wasn't even so bad. But he wasn't going to clear his mind or meditate and there was nothing Elwood could do about that because she couldn't read his mind. So there.
Well it was about done now yes? West reached for the cup, stopped, and then picked it up with the other hand and drank it. Not slowly. It tasted horrible. Needed honey or SOMETHING right? How could he relax when it tasted bad? If it was Lafay West was sure it'd be better tea. He also didn't want to focus on the taste of the tea, chalkboard. That was just cruel.
But he DID know what his reading would be about. West frowned to himself. Yeah. There WAS a stubborn thought or two that just kept popping up.

Sarah looked into her cup more intently, her eyes scrunched up in order to make up shapes. There was something with wings, big wings a closer look revealed an eagle, She quickly wrote that down. There were some more indisctinct shapes until she came across an oval. Was taht a balloon? No it looked like an egg. Wierd
She focused her attention on the base, she would get to the middle later. She saw something that looked like a V that filled in and had a flat base. It was vase. Another thing she saw was a face and two prominet floppy ears, it just had to be a rabbit.
Then she looked at the place in between the rim and the base. She saw a shell, no wait it was not a shell, it looked like a fan. What was a fan doing in her cup? Then she saw something that looked like a deformed star, another look opened her eyes wider. It was a open hand. She was feeling headahy. It must have been the concentration, the squinting and the smell of the tea. She looked down at what she had written

Ethan counted three breaths, then turned his cup back over. His eyes fell on the leaves left on the interior of his cup and he immediately opened his textbook to analyze what they would mean.
The first symbol near the rim of the cup appeared to be something like a bat.. the animal kind, not like a beater's bat. He flipped through his textbook for the meaning, his eyes stopping on the phrase about taking special interest in your dreams. Huh. That was fairly interesting considering that was part of his reason for visiting Professor Elwood earlier. He took note of that and moved on.
The next symbol he saw in the middle of the cup reminded him of the shape of the black lake.. hmm. Maybe it was a lake? He flipped through the book to see if there was a meaning behind that symbol, which there was. So in his near future he would be at peace with controlled emotions.. sounded good to him.
One more distinct symbol at the base of the cup.. this one appeared to be like a kite shape. And it was supposed to be the ultimate answer or conclusion to the thought that came to his mind. And that made him slightly nervous. His eyes scanned the book until he found the kite meaning. Ambition that will carry you far as long as you take opportunities presented.. that made him smile a bit. Not a bad reading at all.. and he copied the information in his notes.
SPOILER!!: Ethan's journal
Rim
Bat - (the present) Pay attention to what happens during the night, take special interest in your dreams
Middle
Lake - (near future) Feeling at peace and controlled emotions
Base
Kite - (ultimate answer) Ambition that will carry you far provided you take opportunities as they come

Now Sarah had to interperate what was written. She looked up eagle in her textbook
Quote:
Eagle
An eagle represents courage and means that well-positioned people will be impressed by your persistence and attention and will increase your fortune and position.
WHAT! How did her desire for recognition seep into her reading even if she tried her hardest to keep it out her mind. It was ba to desire honour and fame so Sarah tried to stop herself from desiring it. Yet it came out in her reading, even though Sarah was convinced that she had banished it forever. Yet it did look promising, as her desire was still there, lying latent.
Quote:
Egg
An egg is an excellent sign! It signifies fresh plans, fertility and increase in wealth and success in whatever you are currently undertaking.
So this is where her vegetable patch and her mission to help Hogwarts came in. That was what she was currently undertaking after all. So does it mean her scheme would work?
So that was all for the rim, the present, now she had to move to the middle to unfog the neear future
Quote:
Hand
An open hand is a symbol of friendship, new or old. A closed hand warns of an argument or disagreement.
Sarah was glad the hand was open. She wondered which friend she would make. Her eyes scanned the room and looked over at her fellow fourth years. She wanted to be friends with them all, so maybe in the next two weeks she will become friends with one of them that she is not quite friendly with yet, like Kaiden, Mo, Astrid, Niiamh,Cliodna,Ellura, Elodie and Paisly. There were so many.
Then she looked up fan
Quote:
Fan
A fan can suggest that a flirtatious encounter is on the horizon.
When Sarah saw this she hooted with laughter. She then muttered a sorry and looked back at her reading, still smiling merrily. While the others had a chance of happening this one did not, as she was not lowly enough to seep to the level to flirt with boys. At least that was what Sarah's mind said, yet Sarah's heart was silently disagreeing
She then moved onto the base. Rabbit...
Quote:
Rabbit
A rabbit means you should be willing you to get over your shyness and can sometimes suggest the need to take care of yourself.
This was another riduclus statement. Sarah was an extrovert, not shy, yet maybe she did take care of others too much, and Sarah knew that deep down that not always did she do it altruistically.
Quote:
Vase
A vase often tells of a friend who will ask you for advice or consolation.
Now this one Sarah would not mind. She loved to feel needed, and she would love for people to come to her for advice of comfort, yet hardly anyone took up the offer. Yet she wished they would.
Then Sarah wrote the reading with the interpretations down in her book. She was finished.

There was a bit of bad tea in the bottom of the plastic cup and West swirled it so that the loose leaves got stuck on it. Now for the part that was a bit dumb. Or the part that was most dumb out of all the dumbness because parchment did not a good saucer make. West dumped the liquid out and eyed the parchment dubiously as it literally soaked it up.
Yeah.
Well. That was probably three breaths. He turned his cup over and took a look.

Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Yup Oakey didn't think.... Not much
He looked down at his very little remaining tea and swirled it around three times. RIght after the third swirl Oakey quickly flipped the cup over onto the saucer parchment with a drawn circle on it. and held it there for one...two...three seconds
He lifted up his cup and looked down at his readings...
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
….Tea leaves reading from a plastic cup because the school sold all the china? Well, that was a first wasn’t it? Or had this financial thing happened before he went to Hogwarts as well? Either way, the Slytherin did not like it.
He never liked Divination but to work with plastic now was just stupid. Still, he did want to win the house-cup for his last year so he decided to simply forget that he dislikes this subject and do his best. He took out his wand and with a swish he said "Convacus" and checked the cup if it was smooth.
Alright, Daichi looked at the chalkboard and read the line. The first step wasn’t hard to do. He grabbed the plastic cup and placed it on the piece of parchment that had been laying on his desk. He flipped the cup over and began to trace the outside rim with his quill to create the saucer.
With that done he took the cup away and grabbed one teaspoon of tea leaves from the box at the table.
Now what?
Fill cup with hot water from the cauldrons? Huh? There were cauldrons here?
The Slytherin looked around and surely enough he found two cauldrons at the back of the classroom. How had he not noticed that?! He stood up from his seat and went to the cauldron to fill ¾ of the cup.
Walking back to his place, he sat down again and with his tea spoon he added the leaves inside the cup. He now looked at his watch and noted the time before he leaned back and waited. He was trying to clear his mind which turned out to be more difficult to do because he kept thinking about …well, basically everything. About how much his own house didn’t like him. Well, a few of them. How he was worrying about his future and the ducks..where were the rest of the ducks at the pond?!
Alright Daichi, don’t think just clear your mind. Taking a deep breath, he tried again but noticed that the two minute time was already up. Mweh, maybe it wasn’t important to clear your mind. This whole subject was weird anyways.

Reason: Forgot the spell
Oh right, they should probably be smooth inside. Makes sense, she thought as she eyed the inside of her red cup. Thankfully Professor Elwood had told them the spell, otherwise she wouldn't have known how to do it. And a smiley face movement, now that's cute. She was glad their Divination teacher seemed to be in a good mood despite not having the materials she needed. Oh....and the tea was gross? Well...at lesat she warned us.
She sat her cup down and concentrated on having a smooth cup. Smooth smooth smooth..."Concavus!" and smileyswish. She peeked into her bowl and was pleased to see it had worked the first time. Maybe this new wand really IS better than my other one. Nice!
Okay...and what was the first step? She checked her notes.
SPOILER!!: Notes

Ravenclaw, 3rd Year
Divination - Lesson One
Tessomancy / Tea Reading
Step One: Flip cup over onto piece of parchment and then trace outside rim of the cup to create the 'saucer' out of the area made by doing this (Leaves on saucers don't have much purpose on their beginner readings without "real" saucers"). Retrieve 1 teaspoon of tea leaves from boxes at each table.
Step Two: Fill cup 3/4 full with hot water from cauldrons and add tea leaves.
Step Three: Allow tea to brew for 2 minutes. Clear your mind and meditate. No talking please.
Step Four: Let tea cool a bit and then drink. Try not to swallow many leaves. If you are right-handed, lift your cup with your left. If left-handed, drink with your right. If ambidextrous, reach for your cup, stop, and then use the other hand.
Once relaxed, identify the issue foremost in your mind. As you attempt to think of nothing in particular, is there a stubborn thought that keeps returning to your attention? If so, that is the subject of this reading. Focus on that thought. If nothing in particular comes to mind, then this will be a general tea leaf reading. Focus on your breath and the taste of the tea.
Leave a small amount of tea at the bottom of your cup.
Step Five: Hold your nearly empty teacup in your hand and give it three good swirls. The tea leaves will disperse around the interior of cup. Gently dump out the remaining liquid by turning your teacup over into a saucer.
Wait at least three breaths before turning your cup back over.
Step Six: Because your cup has no handle, begin reading from 12 o'clock. Make a notation of the first symbol you see. Mentally divide the cup into three sections: rim, middle and base.
Rim - area is above the tea level when you first poured your tea represents the current moment in time.
Middle - area between the rim and bottom, represents near future (2 weeks)
*Both the rim and middle section represent influences in your outcome.
Base - The bottom of the cup below the middle section, represents the ultimate answer or conclusion.
Step Seven: Look up recorded symbols in Textbook and record your reading results.
Oh, right. Draw the saucer on some paper. Weird, but okay. She pulled a piece of parchment out of her notebook, an act that made her cringe a bit. She much preferred keeping her notebooks in tact, but she didn't want to leave any possibility for tea spillage into her book, so out the page went. She tipped her empty cup upside down and easily drew a circle around it with her quill.
She sat the cup back upright and checked her list again, wanting to do this exactly right. All right...tea time, she thought as she reached a teaspoon into the box of not-so-nice-smelling tea. She sat the full teaspoon on her table to have ready when she returned with the hot water.

West peeeeered into his cup.
What was that? Huh? Looked a bit like a bludger. Or maybe an onion there in the middle part. Was he gonna get hit by a bludger or something? West looked up and around at people who happened to be beaters, and then at Peyton given she was the Slytherin one and would protect him. Yes he'd be fine. No Bludgers. Maybe a metaphorical one? Or maybe just an onion. West was unsure. He wrote both down just in case.
And then.... just a whole lot of dots. Maybe they were galleons. Or measles. This was stupid. West wrote it down. And a key in the bottom. A wonky one, West rather thought, but it also didn't look like anything else except a key.
So whatever. Good enough. Now to look them up.
Quote:
Middle: Bludger or Onion
Middle: dots/galleons/measles or something

Renesmee was not entirely sure she believed in this whole divination thing, but she did it anyways because it wasn't that bad. It was better than quite a few other subject and at least it didn't involve filthy creatures or eyeballs, like potions and ComC did. Or maybe there were Divination methods that included that, but heh this lesson was a safe one then.
So maybe some notes then, before she started? Taking out her piece of parchment from before the Hufflepuff scribbled down all the notes. It be easier for her to refer to them like that, rather than looking at the board every few minutes.
So then, first step. She read over it twice, nodded her head and got to work. Placing her cup carefully on a piece of parchment, she traced the rim of it. She lifted her cup and checked if she was pleased, which she was, then reached over to the box on her table and dished out one tea spoon of tea leaves.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
After the waiting time was up, Daichi reached for his cup with his left hand since he was right-handed and took relaxed. He tried to clear his mind until he wasn’t thinking anything. Or at least he tried to. His thoughts began to wander in his mind as he suddenly thought about his problem, his future.
Did this mean that whatever signs were getting in this cup were about his future? PFFFT! Don’t make him laugh!
He had heard the warning from the Professor that the tea was disgustingly bitter but… he took another sip. It wasn’t so bad! He actually liked it!
Taking a bigger gulp and the Prefect made a face of disgust. Alright, maybe tiny sips were better eww. Since the tea was nearly finished he took one last big gulp and after leaving some amount of the tea at the bottom of the cup he placed it down. Wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. Eww.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Oakey quickly jotted down each of the symbols he could make out from the the splotches of tea leafs now shrewn about his make shift parchment. Let's see knife, an arrow pointing up , that one looked like a Shoe with a small anchor below it.
Alright so what did it mean...
SPOILER!!: Tea Reading
Rim: Knife-A knife warns of harsh words, stress or arguments. Rim/Middle: Arrow Pointing Up-An arrow pointing up and out of the cup promises that your luck is on the up. Middle: Anchor- An anchor shows that you'll soon find an answer to a problem. An issue that has been causing you anxiety will soon be over. Friends will be very willing and co-operative. Base: Shoe -A shoe signifies a revelation of some kind; perhaps someone will reveal their true colours to you.
Ummm... Okay. This looked sort of promising things were looking up for him and in the end, all except for the knife at the start. If this fortune telling stuff was true that was.

After Minerva retrieving her cup, Minerva sat there looking at it in all it's plasticness. She felt bad for Elwood, knowing that this was probably not the idea of how to teach students tea leaf reading when she first thought of the lesson, but they all had to make do with what they were given, right. Turning her head as she heard Professor Elwood talk about the steps, Min jotted them down on her parchment.
Looking back at her cup, she pulled out her wand ""Concavus", looking into her cup she smiled. Now for the next step.. Turning over the cup, Minerva took her quill and began tracing the cup onto her parchment. Cutting around the circle she placed the cup on the homemade saucer. This was still so strange to have a parchment saucer and a plastic cup.
Now onto the second step. Getting up Minerva walked over and poured the 3/4 water into her cup and added her tea leaves. Once she had the leaves inside her now warm cup she walked back over to her seat and checked to see what the next step was.

FYI his bit of parchment that he was writing on was getting damp from the tea that the saucer!parchment didn't hold. He looked at the book and started searching for things. The middle was the near future and the base was the conclusion right? Right. Okay.
Quote:
Middle: Bludger or Onion

Base: Key
Well bludgers weren't in there so West flipped to onion. "An onion implies that secrets may not be kept that way." He read outloud to himself. Well.
....
Well yeah.
Stupid onion.
"Lots of dots indicate monetary gains." Well that was better. West liked that even if he didn't think it had anything to with what he'd had in mind before the reading started.
And a Key.... "A key can sometimes predict a fiery and passionate relationship."
........
West staaaaaaaaared at the inside of his cup and tried to see a different shape instead of a key.
Because reasons.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Holding his nearly empty teacup in his hand, Daichi swirled it around three times. He watched how the leaves stuck to the interior of the cup and then quickly yet gently dumped away the remaining liquid in to his make-shift saucer.
Holding the cup upside down, he quickly checked the blackboard and after reading he should wait three seconds he held the cup up again and placed it on the table next to the parchment saucer.
Next step? What was it? The Slytherin Prefect peered to the board again. Read from 12 o’clock? He stared inside his cup , scratching the back of his neck as he concentrated beginning with the top. Quill at the ready, he checked the tealeaves for any symbols but after halfway checking the rim it was no use.
Bleh, this was stupid. And a waste of…oh hello! What was that? He cocked his head as he looked at a small form…it was weird like… like it was a bell or something? Wait a second! This was it right? He quickly wrote down bell on his piece of parchment and then continued looking. He could look up the meaning later. He searched for further signs of figures in the cup.

Decorate it? Alice did not do decorating. She picked up the cup- which was plain, since it felt like being plain- and swished her wand inside the cup, moving it in a sort of smile, as directed by Elwood. "Concavus." It seemed to be smooth/rounded/whatever in the name of Merlin the spell was supposed to do to it on her first try, so she didn't worry about it too much and glanced up at the board for instruction reasons.
.. why did she need to make that? Wasn't like she was going to spill the tea or anything, Alice was more coordinated than that, and she doubted a paper saucer would help that much. But she obligingly got a fresh sheet of parchment and traced the rim of the cup onto it. Pausing to spare a look at the directions again, she then went and got a spoonful of tea leaves before filling her cup up with water from the cauldrons. Did that look like 3/4 of the cup was filled?
No, more like 5/8 of it, Alice decided, and had about 1/8 more of the cup filled (why did she even care if it was precise? No idea) prior to adding anything. Mhm, she was sure that was 3/4 now, and leaves were added. That was how it was done, everyone.

Now that she had her tea leaves she looked over her next instruction and because it was short read the third one too. She then nodded to herself in understanding and before getting up anywhere she realized she needed to fix up her cup with that spell, because she sort of forgot to do it before. Mellow.
"Concavus" She said swishing her wand in a smile over her cup. That worked then? She peeked inside her cup and nodded in approval. Now that, that was done she was able to collect hot water from the back corner of the classroom.
Careful not to spill and burn herself she filled her empty cup three quarters fill and headed back to her seat where she took out her spoonful of tea leaves and added them too to the cup.
Brewing time for the tea then and meditating time for her? Um...she didn't really do the meditating thing usually, but today she closed her eyes and half gave it a try.
To the best ability that she could she attempted to clear her mind and focus, it wasn't really easy considering her thoughts were on twenty four seven but she did what she could.
Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button
Wait, was 3/4 of her cup really filled? Alice checked again during the two minutes while her tea was brewing, just to be sure, and it seemed to be.. like.. 37/50 had water in it or something. Did she need to fill another 1/100 of it? She wanted to. But she'd already added the tea leaves, and the cauldrons were ALL the way over there, so she stopped fussing and resorted to giving her tea sullen looks.
It really was 37/50. Was this going to mess up her reading? Depressing stuff.
And she COULDN'T clear her mind or meditate or whatever else she was supposed to be doing when her amount of water was OBVIOUSLY messed up and 1/100 of cup water off. Her gloomy looks turned into irritation while she waiting for it to finish brewing. Alice finally grabbed at the cup with her right hand and downed the tea in one gulp, not bothering to wait for it to cool or to focus on the taste (because this stuff was revolting), letting it scorch her throat instead.
No issues in mind, clearly. None.
Except for fractions, of course.
Clearly.

Okay. So he'd gotten his on notation down. It still looked like mush to him. Proper mush. Tea smelling mush. Actually it didn't smell very nice at all, and Clement really didn't like it. He certainly hoped that they wouldn't be doing this every lesson. Because he would not be impressed. He did not like tea at all. And he really could not find any more shapes in his mush. So he was just going to rewarded. No. He had to find another shape. He frowned, leaning onto the palm of his hand as he looked at his paper saucer. He really had no idea what so ever. Oh Clement. Why had you decided to do Divination? He clearly was not very good at it. He'd just scrapped a pass at OWL. which could explain why he wasn't too good at it. He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts, as he had a better look. He even leaned a little closer, until his chin left ginger locks were nearly touching the paper. That was when he drew back a little, he really didn't need to get his hair all in the mushy tea leaves. That would not be good. He didn't want to smell of tea all day. Not at all.
AAAAAH. There. He'd seen a shape. It looked like a door. A closed door. Well that just seemed odd. He rolled his eyes, reaching over to his other parchment, the one without the mushy tea leaves on, and wrote down the door, along with it's meaning from the textbook.
SPOILER!!: parchment
Shape One
Acorn
Meaning - Your hard work will be rewarded. A humble beginning will lead to better things
Door
meaning - A closed door indicates you are missing an opportunity, or being too selfish to take it
Clement ended up staring at the text book, and then his parchment in turn. He was really confused. He was missing an opportunity? What opportunity. Though something did slip to mind, a certain blonde keeper, but he was trying to not think of her right now. Though. Was he missing that opportunity. Actually, forgetting Katrina for a moment, Clement thought about his other shape. It meant that his hard work would be rewarded.... hard work rewarded. So...if he took this opportunity, and worked hard, he would be rewarded? Hmm...very interesting.

Two minutes was over then? She opened her eyes unsure if she had waited long enough. She pouted then decided to carry on anyways, reading her next instruction.
So they had to actually drink this tea? Ewww. She pulled a face, but felt the tea to see if it was cool enough. A little hot, but it was drinkable. Slowly not wanting to swallow all the leaves, Ness drank holding the cup in her left hand. It was bitter and surely not the finest tea she had, had. But she'd had worse things before in her life which was why she continued drinking rather than spitting out. She was almost done anyways.
The taste of the tea made it difficult not to think of anything in particular because all she could think of was it's bitterness. But then other thoughts unwillingly began to invade. Thoughts such as what would happen to her after Hogwarts. Would she be where she wanted to be? Would she be in a new home of her own, or travelling somewhere? or still at home. Those thoughts had been with her quite a while and now they were edging back to the front of her brain where everything else had been pushed back.
That was her topic then. Her future after Hogwarts. Where she'd be going.
The little tea left over was filled with leaves and with a pout she read the last instructions then eyed the leaves once more. Those things were apparently going to tell her, her future. Merlin that sounded silly. Three swirls later and she dumped the remaining liquid onto her saucer.
Breath in. Breath out. Breath in. Breath out. Breath in. Breathe out.
She turned her cup over and began looking at her reading.
Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button
How much was supposed to be left? Could she be given a fraction for that or what? The bit of repulsive tea was given more gloomy looks from her as Alice deducted that there was approximately 11/100 of it spared at the bottom of her cup. Did she need to reduce that to, like, 9/100? Was that necessary? Exactly how much was a 'small amount'? It wasn't specific enough for her fractions. This was so incredibly strenuous. She was about ready to bang her head against the wall.
Even though it probably wasn't the RIGHT small amount of tea, Alice swirled it anyway and watched as the leaves dispersed around the interior of the cup, then overturned it into her parchment saucer. She watched sullenly as it made it all soggy, breathing once, twice, thrice, and then flipping it back up again.
...
What in the name of Merlin was that even supposed to be?

Looking inside his cup again, Daichi tried to find any more signs of symbols or whatever it was he was looking for. The tea leaves sticking to inside of the cup all had weird shapes so it was pretty difficult to find symbolic shapes in them right? Like a goat… No he did not see a goat but just think about it. HOW can tea leaves , simple tea leaves form a goat? Wasn’t it that we saw the shapes in the things we WANT them to see?
Eeeh… he didn’t even get it his own thoughts, stupid mind.
Well, whatever it was actually kind of fun searching for …square? Daichi blinked as he stared at a peculiar shaped square. It was like…some kind of post stamp. Or at least that was what it looked like. He quickly wrote it down before looking for more symbols in a cup.
It didn’t take long before he found another shape. In the middle was a kind of knife. He was pretty sure that it was a knife. He wrote down what he saw and turned away from the cup.
So he got a Bell, Stamp and a Knife…
Opening his text book , Daichi began to search for the meanings:

It took Alice about six minutes to try and figure out what that thing at the area above her tea level was. It kind of looked.. like.. a cone? Or something? A volcano! A seriously messed up volcano, too, with its sides all squished in and its lava, or whatever it was spewing, streaming all down her cup. But she couldn't think of anything else it was meant to be, so she grabbed another piece of parchment and took note of it.
She peered into the middle next, and this symbol was so mucked up that Alice couldn't tell what it was meant to be. It just kind of resembled a really big blob in her eyes, and it was too hard to decipher at the moment, so her eyes flickered over it and skipped on to the next symbol, the one at the bottom that was supposedly her future or whatever. That one was a symbol she could read right off the bat. A purse, though she didn't know what it was doing at the base or what it meant yet.
After copying that down, too, and leaving a bit of space on the parchment in between her lines for the middle, Alice returned to scrutinizing that part of the cup, turning it so she could see every angle. It was a.. oh! It wasn't a blob, it was a MONKEY, and it was so obvious now that she felt rather dumb for not being able to tell before.
Meanings, now, then? She grabbed her textbook and hoped that the readings wouldn't come out to be capital-R ridiculous.
