The beginning of term was upon them and even though the first week or so had already passed and everyone was practically settled in, the first Divination lesson of the term had yet to happen. Today was the day though and the trapdoor to the classroom was open and the ladder was lowered.
Professor Elwood sat excitedly at her desk by the chalkboard awaiting the students. The room was set up like it usually was, a few seats around little tables among the risers; the windows opened up to allow what slight breeze there was to flow in. What other point was there to be in a tower classroom?
The cutbacks the rest of the Castle seemed to be having didn't seem to have effected this room, at least on the surface. Go ahead and take a seat while you wait for the Professor to start the lesson.

They had been shrunk down to allow for the same amount of space as a normal tea cup and were charmed to not allow the students to be burned. "Because they are disposable I will be giving you the option of doing your reading today in a plain and clear cup or if you wish to make your own symbol cup, because if you do it yourself the distractions will be limited as opposed to a store made one, using the symbols in your textbook. Come on up and grab a cup for yourself and then either wait for further instructions if you plan to use a plain one or you may begin decorating and adding your symbols with your wand or quills." She waited by the cups for them to begin working.
Alec, who was busy looking down at his notes, looked up sharply at the professor and then over at... Oh? BLINK. His grey-blue eyes flitted between the Professor and the three students and he sort of... raised his eyebrows. Something wrong usually meant a fight or uncomfortableness or... something... that meant that they needed some space.
...
Moving on... Scribble scribble scribble... More info... Scribble, scribble scribble...
... WHAT?! Alec placed his quill down and looked up at the Professor just as she held up a plastic cup. ... Because of the budget cuts. Frown. This was probably the first time he was coming across an incident where the budget cuts were actually hitting a class. And it didn't make him happy at all. It actually made him feel sort of... sad that things were being affected so badly.
But... cups. Yeah. The sixteen year old got up from his desk and waked over towards the place where all the plastic cups were. Divination was slightly confusing and he got confused very easily so... plain cup it was, then. He picked one up, smiled warmly at the Professor before heading back towards his spot and sitting down again.

Ronnie quickly added some more notes into her notebook, not really paying attention to what the professor was saying until the sound of a box being set onto the desk startled her. She looked up from her notebook and frowned at the red solo cups. She was hoping for cute, fancy little tea cups... ah well.
Once she finished up her notes, she walked up to the front of the room, grabbed a cup, and sat back down. She played with it in her hands while she waited for further instructions.
Susan furiously scribbled all of her notes in her notebook. She was going to have a hand cramp after this class. When the professor showed the cups they would be using Susan couldn't believe her eyes. The school expected them to use those. That was just horrible...no wonder the professor seemed a little irked about using them. Susan went over and grabbed a cup and decided not to do anything with it. Something this bad wouldn't look any better no matter what you put on it. So she sat at her desk and waited for further instructions.
Having been sitting quietly taking notes, because she hadn't actually found herself comfortable with giving any answers, Kahlan bit her lip as she looked around the room slowly standing up and walking up to grab one of the cups. Thinking for a moment as she looked at the cup she wondered whether or not she should decorate it before deciding against it as she figured she'd probably do something wrong and then it wouldn't work at all!
Though she did remember some stuff her mother taught her... but no, she could only remember that vaguely. Better not mess with the cup, even if it was plastic.
Sitting herself down again she looked at it questioningly before looking back up at the Professor for the next instructions.
Haruka finished her notes, making sure to everything was there and checked it over one more. The she walked up to the desk and took a cup. 'The plastic cups again, hmm?' This was going to be interesting. She went back to her spot and waited for further instructions.

Had they been playing footise under their desks? That was just cute! And Sky had the same question about the cups as West, but since he'd already voiced it, there was no point in repeating it, right? So, she just went and got herself a cup. But as she went to sit back down, she noticed that some of the students looked surprised at the mention of the china being gone. What? Had they not listened to the Headmistress' speech?

Makes the whole house look bad," she whispered in the kids ear before continuing back to her own seat and sitting down.

She sort of wondered why they didn't just use all the rats running around the castle and transfigure them into cups for class (and turn them back later of course), but she didn't want to sound rude by suggesting it. It could help make the situation better though, for a while at least... Oh well. She stood from her desk and grabbed a red plastic cup. Not seeing any real reason to draw on it though, since the shapes that mattered would be inside the cup anyway, she sat it on her desk without any embellishment. Besides, the ink would probably smudge on her hands anyway since she wasn't quite sure how to write on things using only her wand.

"Good, yes the people who gave answers about the Zodiac cup are all correct." She started to tick off the things they said on the board as she reiterated them. "These sets do contain both zodiacal and planetary symbols. Like you said the interior of the cup contains the planetary symbols, while the saucer has the astrological sign symbols. Overall this cup allows for the desired combination of astrology with tasseography."
An interesting cup for sure.
SPOILER!!: Symbol Cups Answers
The symbol cup was a rather self-explanatory one but she was glad the students didn't shy away from it. "You all gave the Symbol cup its worth with your answers. Like the name suggests, these cups are decorated with between a dozen and fifty of the most common symbols that can be found in tea leaves, and like Miss Cambridge said are often supplied with an explanatory booklet. The symbols are also on the outside or inside the cups and on the saucers in some sets."
She nodded and continued. "The Symbol Cup is by far the easiest cup for beginner's to start with."
SPOILER!!: Playing Cards Cup Answers
Playing card cups were kind of a funny subject seeing as the last lesson she had taught the previous term was on Tarot cards. "The Playing Card Cups or Cups of Knowledge." Callie smiled at Marcus and Beatrice, "are much the same as the symbol cups but instead have pictures of 52 cards plus a joker or 32 for a different type of deck. The card pictures also sometimes are place on the outside of the cups or on the saucer."
"Excellent point Mr. Odessa." Callie had learned from having this particular Slytherin in her lessons that he was not always a fan of the Noble Art but he had a certain knack for bringing up very interesting and in this case extremely correct ones.

OOC: The cups choice is up to you. If you chose to leave the cups be and do a 'plain cup' reading, just post grabbing your cup and then sitting back down having made the decision. If you plan on making your own cup then use any photo-editing or creating program to do so on a cup like this and include it in your post.
To design or not to design?
Aquila would’ve really liked to design her cup, but she did see the point of keeping the cups plain, specially this would be her first time doing tea readings. She got up and took a cup then turned it around between her fingers, still amazed at how light the plastic cups were, although she felt they looked a little too deep to be able to decipher shapes clearly.
Perhaps she can design the cups later? At least on the outside she was starting to imagine the pretty things she can scrawl all around it....

Dylan really....didn't get what was going on with these cups. They were the same ones from the Great Hall and the Welcome Feast...Would they even produce the same results as a normal cup? Maybe...they should have been informed of this...Seriously, his mother had a MILLION cups. He could've outfitted the entire school.
Walking up to grab a cup, he took it back to his seat and began working. Of course he'd be customizing his. Dylan didn't like things that would standard or plain. It went against his flamboyant Slytherin ways. So, first and foremost..."Pingo green!" That needed to be handled...because he wasn't a Gryffindor...Just no.
He did a few Gemini symbols with his wand, trying to embellish the zodiac sign just a smidgen. He was, after all, a PROUD Gemini...and probably the most Gemini of anyone ever. West had commented about his bipolar nature on more than one occasion...and he was most likely right. A little. Dylan would argue that he was just a passionate individual. So, it led to him living by extremes. Beezus knew this better than anyone...
After those were done, he began doodling his name. The Slytherin Captain was that guy. He just LOVED putting his name on things...So, this cup would be no different. It took several minutes to accomplish the look of the letters he wanted. All swirly and elaborate...yet simple in a way. Just like him. Never understated.

When Professor Elwood spoke up though her face immediately reddened because she liked Professor Elwood. She just glanced at the table and her notes. She just muttered an apology and glanced in confusion at her tablemates – what had they done?
She was just glad points were not lost for the whisper wars. So they were using solo cups for class today. Wouldn’t they melt? And well, obviously that was accounted for right? She just sat there in silence and glanced at the cups. Finally when they had the chance to she got up and walked to where the cups were.
When she was up there she sent Professor Elwood an apologetic smile. “Sorry about earlier I honestly have no idea what was going on over there” it was the truth she was as confused as anyone could be in a time like this. “Thanks for the cup” she smiled as she grabbed a cup and practically skipped back to the table.
Back at the table she immediately sat down and began to work on finding the symbols she wanted to use. She just glanced though the book and couldn’t really decide what to use. So she glanced at the cup once more. She was too distractable today maybe, maybe she'd do the normal cup? She had no idea yet.

The blonde Divination Professor was standing behind her desk helping to hand out the cups when she noticed one of the older Slytherin girls stopping by another's desk and whispering something. She kept her eye on them for a moment but it seemed to be over whatever it was so she wasn't going to question it. The class was sort of in a limbo, non-instruction moment anyways.

Basically everyone in the room was as annoyed as she was when she found out that the school had sold off the china dedicated to the Divination Tower. "Yes, I know this is not an ideal situation guys but we have to power through with what we have. I am hoping that we will have the school budget back in order before the term is over and we will be able to have a new china set that we can practice with." Wishful thinking but there had to be some hope in this now somewhat dreary classroom. It looked like Dylan was having a good time at least with the decorating of his cup. "Very nice Mr. Montmorency!" she told him with a smile.
As she was finishing up trying to cheer some of the kids up West asked a question.
He was right. "Oh thank you for bringing that up Mr. Odessa. Everyone when you get your cup, regardless if you are adding your own symbols to it I will need you to cast a charm on it before we start." She grabbed the cup she would be using for her reading and pulled out her wand. "You will point your wand into the cup and say the incantation 'Concavus' while making a quick swish like the mouth of a smilie face." Yeah, another way that they could cheer up a bit! Heh.
"If you don't succeed at first, try the incantation and wand movement again until it's done. The desired result will have the inside of the cup curved at the bottom and resemble more like the average teacup." There, that was fixed. "Please do this before you begin following the steps I am about to put on the board."
Now for the Tasseomancy to begin! Professor Elwood left the box as the last students were grabbing their cups and stood by the chalkboard. She flicked her wand and the day's activity steps were written:

Step Five: Hold your nearly empty teacup in your hand and give it three good swirls. The tea leaves will disperse around the interior of cup. Gently dump out the remaining liquid by turning your teacup over into a saucer.
Wait at least three breaths before turning your cup back over.
Step Six: Because your cup has no handle, begin reading from 12 o'clock. Make a notation of the first symbol you see. Mentally divide the cup into three sections: rim, middle and base.
Rim - area is above the tea level when you first poured your tea represents the current moment in time.
Middle - area between the rim and bottom, represents near future (2 weeks)
*Both the rim and middle section represent influences in your outcome.
Base - The bottom of the cup below the middle section, represents the ultimate answer or conclusion.
Step Seven: Look up recorded symbols in Textbook and record your reading results.
"Okay everyone here are the steps you will be following to do your first Tea Leaf reading. Professor Lafay has lent us two cauldrons over there," she pointed to the far corner of the room where water was boiling in them over small flames, "and the tea leaves are in the small boxes in the center of your tables." And....about that.... "Um, the tea also, I'm afraid may not be the best because it was the cheapest I could find. It's a basic black tea and I'm afraid its rather bitter." Bitter was an understatement; Calista HATED tea and she knew this stuff was bad. She had had to drink it holding her nose and she wasn't looking forward to doing it again.
She clasped her hands again. "But we must drink the tea to do the readings properly. If you desire you can grab a second cup and use your wands to create water to drink if the taste is that bothersome." Yeah, sorry guys.
"You may begin. I will be walking around and working on my own reading. If you have any questions at all don't hesitate to ask."
OOC: You will have approximately 48-72 hours to finish this task so there's no immediate hurry but don't get behind. The reading is basically up to your imaginations but I would like for you to come up with a reading either answering a question, problem, or a general feeling your character is experiencing. When you are working I would like for you to find at least TWO symbols. Again any questions don't hesitate to ask IC or by PM/VM OOC.

Ronnie looked up at the board at all the steps. Hm, didn't look too hard! Once she had copied all the steps into her notebook, she looked them over. Okay. What was step one? She looked down at her notebook and read...

Seemed easy enough. She bent down to her book bag and fished out a piece of parchment, laid it on her table, and flipped her cup on it. This was going to be interesting!
Next, she traced along the outside rim of her cup, making sure to do it very carefully. She lifted her cup up and beamed at her perfect circle. She then got her one teaspoon of tea leaves. Alrighty. What now? She looked at the next step:

Tucker sighed and pulled out a piece of parchment. This was so ridiculous. Why wasn't Gabi taking her savings out of Gringotts and donating it all to the school? This was deplorable! Regardless, he had a job to do, so he pulled out his quill, flipped the solo cup over and traced the lid to make his makeshift saucer.
He then wrinkled his eyebrows and raised his hand. "Umm professor, I have a question - do we cut out the saucer? Or just leave the circle marked on the parchment?" he asked her.

It seemed like decorating a cup would be a lot of bother, especially when he wasn't sure he wanted to use the guides provided on those cups. It would be better to do it the real way, with a plain cup. A plain plastic cup? Sigh.
He was about to rise when once again someone nudged his foot. Mika was looking all innocent, but that was enough. Why was she still trying to get his attention when they'd almost gotten into big enormous trouble? Mo shook his head at her and left to retrieve a cup without another word to Mika OR Kaiden.
He went with the clear plastic cup, figuring that it might be interesting to look at the sediment from all different angles. Heading back to the table, Mo passed by Mika and Kaiden and dropped down to sit with Blue. She looked serious about this class and he really REALLY didn't want to get into trouble.

The blonde Divination Professor was standing behind her desk helping to hand out the cups when she noticed one of the older Slytherin girls stopping by another's desk and whispering something. She kept her eye on them for a moment but it seemed to be over whatever it was so she wasn't going to question it. The class was sort of in a limbo, non-instruction moment anyways.
Basically everyone in the room was as annoyed as she was when she found out that the school had sold off the china dedicated to the Divination Tower. "Yes, I know this is not an ideal situation guys but we have to power through with what we have. I am hoping that we will have the school budget back in order before the term is over and we will be able to have a new china set that we can practice with." Wishful thinking but there had to be some hope in this now somewhat dreary classroom. It looked like Dylan was having a good time at least with the decorating of his cup. "Very nice Mr. Montmorency!" she told him with a smile.
As she was finishing up trying to cheer some of the kids up West asked a question.
He was right. "Oh thank you for bringing that up Mr. Odessa. Everyone when you get your cup, regardless if you are adding your own symbols to it I will need you to cast a charm on it before we start." She grabbed the cup she would be using for her reading and pulled out her wand. "You will point your wand into the cup and say the incantation 'Concavus' while making a quick swish like the mouth of a smilie face." Yeah, another way that they could cheer up a bit! Heh.
"If you don't succeed at first, try the incantation and wand movement again until it's done. The desired result will have the inside of the cup curved at the bottom and resemble more like the average teacup." There, that was fixed. "Please do this before you begin following the steps I am about to put on the board."
Now for the Tasseomancy to begin! Professor Elwood left the box as the last students were grabbing their cups and stood by the chalkboard. She flicked her wand and the day's activity steps were written:
"Okay everyone here are the steps you will be following to do your first Tea Leaf reading. Professor Lafay has lent us two cauldrons over there," she pointed to the far corner of the room where water was boiling in them over small flames, "and the tea leaves are in the small boxes in the center of your tables." And....about that.... "Um, the tea also, I'm afraid may not be the best because it was the cheapest I could find. It's a basic black tea and I'm afraid its rather bitter." Bitter was an understatement; Calista HATED tea and she knew this stuff was bad. She had had to drink it holding her nose and she wasn't looking forward to doing it again.
She clasped her hands again. "But we must drink the tea to do the readings properly. If you desire you can grab a second cup and use your wands to create water to drink if the taste is that bothersome." Yeah, sorry guys.
"You may begin. I will be walking around and working on my own reading. If you have any questions at all don't hesitate to ask."
OOC: You will have approximately 48-72 hours to finish this task so there's no immediate hurry but don't get behind. The reading is basically up to your imaginations but I would like for you to come up with a reading either answering a question, problem, or a general feeling your character is experiencing. When you are working I would like for you to find at least TWO symbols. Again any questions don't hesitate to ask IC or by PM/VM OOC.
Mika wasn't really bothered that Mo had left - because it meant she could spread out. Right and be a little more comfortable. She did actually switch seats once he had vacated and curled her feet up underneath her.
She glanced at her cup though and sighed. She didn't like the color sure, but eh, she didn't really care. The first thing she did was to pull her parchment in front of her and flip the cup over on the parchment as directed so the lip of the cup was on the parchment. Taking her quill she slowly and shakily began to trace the lip of the cup. Her mind kept racing back to the fact that someone at her table had gotten them reprimanded and she really didn’t like that. She was sure now that because of that look Mo had shot both her and Kaiden that it had been Kaiden. Because clearly she had no idea what was happening. She had told people that.
She glanced up at the board to see what they were supposed to do and sighed. Her textbook was right next to her and she was really ready to start delving into it and all but really, she just didn’t want to wait that long. The whole she needed to fill her cup first thing seemed boring to her. She grabbed the spoon from the table and carefully scooped up a spoonful of the loose-leaf lavender tea and was more than ready to start this task.
Mika of course stopped before she filled the cup as she heard Tucker Schultz question. That was a good question she really thought that was a very smart question. She glanced over to the younger boy and sent him a quick smile before she was happy someone had asked that.

Step One: Flip cup over onto piece of parchment and then trace outside rim of the cup to create the 'saucer' out of the area made by doing this (Leaves on saucers don't have much purpose on their beginner readings without "real" saucers"). Retrieve 1 teaspoon of tea leaves from boxes at each table.
Step Two: Fill cup 3/4 full with hot water from cauldrons and add tea leaves.
Step Three: Allow tea to brew for 2 minutes. Clear your mind and meditate. No talking please.
Step Four: Let tea cool a bit and then drink. Try not to swallow many leaves. If you are right-handed, lift your cup with your left. If left-handed, drink with your right. If ambidextrous, reach for your cup, stop, and then use the other hand.
Once relaxed, identify the issue foremost in your mind. As you attempt to think of nothing in particular, is there a stubborn thought that keeps returning to your attention? If so, that is the subject of this reading. Focus on that thought. If nothing in particular comes to mind, then this will be a general tea leaf reading. Focus on your breath and the taste of the tea.
Leave a small amount of tea at the bottom of your cup.
Step Five: Hold your nearly empty teacup in your hand and give it three good swirls. The tea leaves will disperse around the interior of cup. Gently dump out the remaining liquid by turning your teacup over into a saucer.
Wait at least three breaths before turning your cup back over.
Step Six: Because your cup has no handle, begin reading from 12 o'clock. Make a notation of the first symbol you see. Mentally divide the cup into three sections: rim, middle and base.
Rim - area is above the tea level when you first poured your tea represents the current moment in time.
Middle - area between the rim and bottom, represents near future (2 weeks)

Base - The bottom of the cup below the middle section, represents the ultimate answer or conclusion.

Clement wasn't really too good at this thing. Divination. He'd managed to do enough to just scrape his OWL. So really, he probably wasn't going to do good with his NEWT, but he'd attend the lessons anyway. He surely couldn't really get any worse. Picking his cup up, which he hadn't decorated, leaving it plain, because he was lazy, he tipped it over, and put into onto his parchment. Hmm. This was really a downgrade. But at least there would be no broken ups. Humming to himself a little, he traced around the edge of the cup, careful to make it a perfect circle, because he wanted it to be pretty perfect. Placing his quill back down, he flipped his cup back the correct way up, and placed it into the middle of the "Saucer." Well there was his low rent version of a tea cup and saucer. Hogwarts was really dropping down, and he wasn't so sure if he liked it anymore. Beauxbatons was never like this. It was clear which school was the better at the moment.
Standing up, he went and collected his one teaspoon of tea leaves. It was quite funny actually, because he didn't even like tea. He thought the beverage was pretty disgusting. He sighed, settling himself back down in the seat. He would make do with it. Grabbing his cup, he filled it 3/4 of the way full, being careful not to drop any of the hot water on himself. He really did not need to burn himself on boiling water. Placing his cup back down, he tipped the tea leaves in. Now he just had to wait.
Glancing up at the board he read that it was 2 minutes. Okay. He gave the tea a little swirl with the spoon, before leaving it to brew. Now To medicate and clear his mind then. Okay then. "Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" He mused for a few seconds, before deciding that was just distracting him even further, so he just clamped his lips shut and tried to clear his mind. Thought some pretty blonde keeper kept making appearances in his thoughts

..and listening. Of course, she was listening to Professor Elwood. And hoping with the woman too....that their budget will be back up again before the end of the term. Or else the possibility that there would be a radical diminishing amount of students attending their school next term was pretty much sparkling.

At least someone was having the time of his life, it seems. The brunette diverted her gaze from her oh so lonely cup to look at her Slytherin and just couldn't help the smile that spread across her lips. He was one of a kind. And so was his cup.

Pfft. He was definitely giving her that pouting face. Beezus fought not to roll her eyes. "I'm sitting with you now. Don't complain." Not that he had any choice, really. She was going to sit with him either way and possibly coax him into helping her out with her cup. But it seemed as thought the coaxing wasn't needed for there he was....acting like her Knight in Shining Quidditch Robes (he wasn't really in Quidditch robes at the moment but you get the picture) and taking up her cup.
She watched him work, as she usually does, as she bit on her lip admiring just how talented her boyfriend is. He was a handyman, you know. He'd changed its color and then he was adding in some designs of some sort, she wasn't sure - she was too busy looking at his face - until about a few more minutes of cup-decorating, her Slytherin was holding the cup up.
"Babe.....it's beautiful."It even had her name on it and butterflies! Gotta love butterflies. Plus, it was purple. Bulls eye on her likes.
She gently snagged the cup away from him to look at it closely. "You didn't even let me do anything." She murmured as she flipped the cup over on her hands, nudging him as she did. "You're the best, babe." She tagged on, smiling sweetly at him. He was so getting points for that.
And now that her cup wasn't lonely anymore, she could cast the charm on it.

Beezus muttered the incantation for a few times first, then she took out her birch wand and did a quick review of the wand movement. It didn't take too long before she was ready to cast. The brunette aimed her wand at her purple cup, "Concavus!" and then she watched as the bottom of her cup started to curve down.
All right. She can go over the steps on the board now. But of course, she wanted to do it with Dylan so she'd wait for him. Professor Elwood didn't mind, right?
Ethan frowned when he saw those dumb plastic cups again. It was bad enough that their dining equipment had to be affected but classroom supplies too? How were they supposed to learn properly without the proper tools? Because he was fairly certain that West kid was right.. the structure of the cup would affect the reading. But, oh.. they would be charming the shape of the cup. That would work, but he was still rather annoyed with the situation.
He didn't really see the point in decorating the cup because 1. it was disposable and 2. it wasn't the symbol on the outside that was important. That was more for show, wasn't it? It was the symbols in the leaves that were important. So he settled for a clear plain one and sat back down once he had retrieved it.
He pointed his wand inside the cup, making a smilie face motion and commanded, "Concavus!" The cup rounded out a little more like an actual tea cup and he glanced up at the board to see what he was meant to do next.
Create a saucer.. okay. He flipped his cup upside down on a piece of parchment and traced around it with his quill as he listened to Elwood speak. Cheap, bitter tea.. wasn't that fabulous? Ethan didn't like tea that much to begin with and now it was going to be even worse. Casting a quick diffindo around the circle on his parchment, he picked up his cup and went over to one of the cauldrons. "Professor?" he called over as he filled his cup with hot water. "Would the reading be affected if we were to say, add cream or sugar to the tea?" Hopeful, yes.. it might make the tea taste better, but he had a feeling he knew what the answer would be.

After taking down a bazillion and two notes, the blonde picked up her wand and eyed her cup curiously. What was the incantation again? Concavus, yeah? Yeah. Ella concentrated on what she wanted to happen and pointed her wand into the cup. Then with a quick swish, said, "Concavus!" Placing her wand back on the table, the sixteen year old inspected her work with a satisfied smile. Cool. She was ready to move on.
Grabbing some parchment and her quill, Ells then flipped her cup over and traced around the rim. When she lifted the cup again, she had a nice little paper saucer to work with. Nodnod. Job well done and all that.
Next came the measure of tea leaves, right? The blonde measured out 1 teaspoon full from the box and placed it carefully next to her cup.
"'Concavus'" she said and swish went the simile face wave of her and 'POP' went the inside shape of her cup.. "perfect." then she saw the steps on the board and Good merlin that was a lot and Ariana Didn't want to do it, though she was excited... and wanted to sooo she wrote down the necessary notes.

With a sad feeling the young girl stared at the cheap tea and swallowed, she loved tea and when she was in the great hall when always drank some, but if this was a bad tasting tea she was not sure if she wanted to drink it. But… She knew that she could do nothing about it, if she wanted to have a good grade for this class she needed to do everything what the professor wanted her to do, and besides, she was still interested in this class and she was willing to do her best for this class, even if she needed to drink bad tasting tea.
After a few minutes when she had her tea cub in her hand, filled with the tea who also smelled not so good she took a deep breath and held her breath while she drank the tea. The tea was really horrible but she swallowed it!
Sonea stared in her cub and frowned, she saw immediately a few things but she had no idea what they were meaning. Quickly she took her textbook and searched for the symbols she saw, but couldn’t find them! She saw a Alligator and a Arrow who was pointing away towards handle in her cub and she had a strange feeling now that she saw the two symbols. She was worried that they were not good for her, she had expected cute and friendly symbols, but the symbols she now saw were not friendly at all, at least, that was what she thought.
“Eh, Professor Elwood, i can’t find the symbols in my textbook, what do they mean?” Asked Sonea while she had raised her hand.

Okay. so he'd figured that his tea had been crewing for long enough now, and it would have had time to cool down. That was good. He didn't want to burn his mouth. That would not be a good start at all. Clement glanced up at the board, to figure out which hand he should use. Ahh. The left one, because he was right handed. Nodding, he grabbed the cup, and he drank it slowly. He pulled a bit of a face. He really did not like tea at all. But he tried to drink it, because well he needed too. He tried not to drink too many tea leaves either, because that was really gross. Oh dear merlin. He really did not like this. Thankfully after a few minutes it was all over. He was pretty glad, and really did not want to have to drink any tea at all ever again.
Okay. Onto the next step. There was a little bit of tea left at the bottom, which was good, because he needed that. Holding the cup, he gave it a good three swirls. Good thing he was being careful because he could have ended up in his lap. But he wasn't too stupid. Thank goodness. He glanced up, reading the next section of the instructions. Nodding to himself, he gently tipped his cup over, so that it landed within the lines of the saucer he'd drawn. Perfect.
Now to take three deeps breaths.
One deep breath.
Two deep Breathes
Three deep breathes.
Maybe too many deep breathes, because he felt a little lightheaded, but he still turning his cup back upright. Now to see what symbols he had. He'd do that after he didn't feel so lightheaded.

Gah, this looked complicated, as Divination ALWAYS looked. But he would give it a whirl. Theo nodded his head and quickly memorized the spell that the professor mentioned before moving on. Didn't want to forget it, did we?! Concavus.
Like... conker... vus. The 'vus' reminded him of the spell they had learned in Astronomy, so it couldn't be too difficult.
He pointed his wand at his cup and said confidently, "Concavus!" It didn't work the first time, but the second time did it perfectly. Theo smiled at his handy work, then placed the cup on top of his piece of parchment to trace around. This was where his work was already starting to look sloppy. He had an.. almost perfect circle after using his pencil around it. If only he had an eraser. He'd never seen the point in buying one before.
Measuring! Something else he was rubbish at, but thankfully, it was only a small teaspoon. Nothing back breaking.
Theo measured it out with no problems, that he was aware of, and then looked up at the next step. Pouring water into his cup. Surely that couldn't go wrong.
