Do you hear the music playing? If you do and get an urge to strut your dance stuff on a dance floor, then head on over to the big floor with the glittering party ball hanging in the air. The dance floor is located right next to the quiet and spacious 'meet the professors' area.
The circular dance floor with its lamps that give off multi-colored lights is the perfect place to dance in up tempo or to a slow song with your boyfriend/girlfriend. There is a band of old gents who volunteered their time and musical talents today. They might take song requests if you ask them nicely.
So drag your friends, parents, or even that special someone that you like out on the dance floor for some magical dance moments.

Jory liked it when Ronnie laughed. She had a wonderful laugh. He never knew he was funny. Of course, she could just be laughing to make him feel better. But whatever it was, he liked listening to her laugh.
Jory continued to look into Ronnie's eyes. Like everything else about her, they too were beautiful. "I could look at your eyes all day,'' he told her as they continue to move to the music. It was true, he was making this dance perfect for her. There was no place else she'd rather be. Right here, right now, was amazing. She never wanted it to end.

Forever? Ah, shucks! She beat him again. "You're good at this,'' Jory told her. But he didn't mind, of course. That was the wonderful thing about them. They could have friendly banters without it getting into an actual argument or something. He loved it that way, as he hated fights.
"Good,'' the seventh year reply. He got lost in the music and in Ronnie's arms, just enjoying the moment. This could go on forever and he would not mind. "That dress is pretty , by the way.'' Did he already tell her that? Jory could not remember.

Destiny didn't know what gave him the idea that she was actually going to be able to walk on her own, thanks to the awesome yet very big shoes she was wearing, but she couldn't. And if it wasn't for the fact that they were awesome, and she just knew she'd be the only one wearing a pair of shoes as awesome as them, she would have ditched them back when they first entered Hogsmeade. Sure, then her feet would have been cold, but then she would have just made Carter ditch his as well, so they would both have cold feet. It made sense to her, and that was all that mattered.
And another thing that mattered to her was where Carter was taking her. To the dance floor? To dance? He was crazy. Not only were the shoes too big for that, but there were tables full of FOOD. And she smelled the chocolate from where she was. "Carterrrrrr." she gave his hand a tug and draaaaagged her feet so she was closer to him. "What do you think they will do with all the potatoes if they do close down Hogwarts? Maybe you can buy them all." Oh, oh, they could SAVE Hogwarts by buying all the potatoes! "Can you buy them all?"
Please?
Whyyyy was Destiny moving so slow? Didn't all girls just have the gene that enabled them to walk in ridiculously high shoes? Then again... Des wasn't a typical girl.
He frowned slightly. "Des... I'm not sure they're ... serving potatoes any more." he said gently. Hence, the fundraiser. Or maybe they were. Potatoes were fairly cheap. At least, he thought they were anyway. Potatoes were sold in giant bags and just grew across the way. ... that made them cheap, right? He'd never actually checked the prices on things in the grocery store.
Err. "I'm sure I could buy potatoes... but I'm pretty sure that's not what they need." Because if it was, they'd have told him in his board meeting, right? Instead, they'd discussed a lot of things that didn't involve potatoes.
"Oh. By the way, we should head into Diagon Alley sometime soon." He had some things he should be searching for. Maybe Cassandra was here? Or Hops? It was a good thing they were on the dance floor. That made it easy to look around.
"Dance?" he asked already pulling her closer. Dance now. Chocolate later. He knew he couldn't be able to tear her away from the chocolate once she got started.

He liked this sort of dancing. It was easy to sway in circles and not really think about it. And that was a plus because along with making him smile, Anya's grin sort of made him forget everything besides Anya. Dancing included.
He took his eyes off her and looked around. "I wonder if this is actually gonna work." The fundraiser thing. "I think if they don't get as much money as they hoped, then they should just spend what they do earn on ice cream. Don't you agree?"
Anya smiled happily and got into position to dance. She loved dancing. And dressing up. And being all cutesy. This was probably because she didn't do it too often. She liked lounging too. Actually... she pretty much enjoyed anything.
She shrugged. "I don't think they'd actually let the school close." she said. "Isn't like... half the magical community super rich?" That's what she'd gathered anyway from observation.
"And it worked last year." So that means it would have to work this year, right? Otherwise, worst case scenario, she'd start muggle uni early. No harm done. And they could find Jake a tutor to finish up his last year. Then they could live happily ever after.
She was lost in those thoughts when Jake mentioned ice cream. "Ice cream!? Is there ice cream here?" Yeah. Forget he asked her a question.

Watching everyone dancing, Minerva started feeling a bit out of place. Why had something she loved so much make her so awkward now. Maybe she shouldn't have kept walking when Ethan had stopped to see something. What was he looking for anyway she wondered. Then she saw him walking towards her and she blushed a bit knowing she was so side tracked she didn't wait for him.
Goodness he looked good, definitely the cutest guy in the room and he was hers. She smiled at her thoughts and then chuckled as he spoke. Kissing his cheek and then wrapping her arms around his neck to dance. "Well see there was this guy that decided to show me that some of my old issue needed to be fixed and I kind of fell in love with dancing with him. So... She shrugged and smiled.
This was so fun and she was so glad they had come. Any chance to dance with him and get dressed up seemed like a great idea to her. It did seem odd when she wore heels being closer to his height, but with her 5 '3 height she still wasn't close. At his next comment, Minerva laughed "Well I was actually waiting on this claw prefect, but you will do just fine." She then looked at him curiously, "So what caught your attention back there and sorry that I kept walking. I didn't realize until to late that you stopped." As Minerva heard the music change, but thankfully stayed slow she continued to dance hoping it might stay slow for awhile, not wanting to let go of Ethan to soon.
Ethan's smile grew as Minerva reached up to kiss his cheek and he wrapped his other arm around her waist as she put her arms around his neck. Moving gently to the slow music, he grinned as he looked down at her upon hearing her words. "That guy sounds pretty amazing, actually.." He was more than glad that she was starting to move past some of the awful things in her past.. and enough that she could enjoy a moment like this with him. She deserved to be happy and not have such darkness haunt her.
He held her a little closer and leaned his head against hers as he closed his eyes, dancing with her like they were the only two there. He chuckled, hearing her words, then pulled back slightly. "Claw prefect? I saw Beezus here on my way in.." He glanced to his side. "Over there.. dancing with Mo.." He grinned widely, looking back at her. "But if I'll do, then I'll just keep dancing with you, if that's alright.." He pulled her in close again, hearing the song change, but glad it was still a slower one. They rarely got the chance to dance and he was enjoying this so far.
"Hmm..?" Oh.. why had he stopped? "Oh it was nothing," he said with a shrug. "Just thought I saw someone familiar at the Donation Station, but I was wrong.. Oh, that reminds me," he said, patting his pocket. "My parents sent me a donation to make. Remind me before we leave?"

“Oh he is one of the most amazing, caring, patient, and understand guys. I think he’s a keeper.” She laughed, “Well he is actually a keeper, but I was meaning a keeper in I’m keeping him for myself always.” Well she hoped always at least. She loved dancing with him, Ethan was a great dancer and her mind drifted back to competitions and how he would have been such a great partner, but pulling herself out of that, she was done with that part of her life and now she was going to enjoy this moment. Feeling him pull her closer she leaned her head on his shoulder and listened to the music.
Minerva chuckled and scanned the room. That was a bit odd Bee dancing with Mo, would Dylan even be able to deal with that? Not really her problem though, now was it. She turned back blue eyes focusing on his green. “Not the prefect I was talking about and yes you are just perfect for the evening.” She rested her head back on his shoulder, “This is nice, getting to dance with you. You’re a great dancer.” but he probably already knew that with lessons and things.
Continuing to dance Minerva then listened as he explained the stop, “Oh alright, maybe after this song we could take it over, or after a few songs depending on how many keep me this close to you.” She smiled at him and leaned giving him another kiss on the cheek. “Your parents should have come to this. You said they like to dance, right?” Didn’t he say that or did she just think he did. Oh well she couldn’t remember at the moment.

It made him feel too powerful, and that wasnt at all something he wanted to worry about - being the reason a girl stopped being interesting.
"He's been here, anyway. I was asking if he liked to dance." For reasons, obviously. Mo did NOT like the direction the conversation was heading now, though, so he opted for the final coup de grace. The Chaser Dip. He hooked an arm around Bee and lowered her backward toward the ground with a little effort. Not as easy as it looks, folks.
"I came by myself, actually. Didn't want to monopolize anyone's time, you know?"
Quite oblivious to the faces her fellow chaser was making behind her back, Beezus continued to smile while she watched her Slytherin converse with the Head Boy before turning her attention back to Mo, "Nah.....he'll come around when he'll come around." She was a clingy girlfriend....but she also knew when her boyfriend needed some space. Besides, she was still having fun dancing with Mo.

She beamed when he complimented her dress. "Thank you, Jory," she said. "It was a gift from Alex." She smiled. This was brilliant, she had always wanted to slow dance with someone. Well, she had once...but that was forever ago. But this, this was special. This was magical. She didn't want to let go of Jory. Leaning into him, she kissed his cheek. "Love you." she said to him. She couldn't stop saying it..
But, he had no partner! He resigned himself to the fact that he was just going to have to tear up the dance floor alone when he spotted a young girl standing by the entrance. She couldn't have been older than a second-year. Well, she needed a partner, too, didn't she?!
The twenty-year-old walked over towards the entrance and did a double-take as if he had only just saw her. "Wow, wowww. Ya look very pretty in that pink dress." He leaned against the entrance then, his height basically doubling hers, and he folded his arms in a very put-out manner. "Sheesh, all I want is a dance partner, ya know? Is that so hard to ask these days?" Hopefully she'd take the bait!
Who are all those people? The young girl had spotted some familiar faces but none of them were really friends with her, she only knew them from school and had talked probably a few times with them, and the other people seemed older than she was and she was SURE that they were no students at Hogwarts, but they were probably graduated. And there were also a few others at the dance where she DIDN’T wanted to talk to, some of them were really stupid and annoying and she knew, even now that she never had talked to them or had met them in person, that they were stupid and not good enough to talk to her or even to be in her presence! Yes, she was sure that her mother would be proud of her if she could see her daughter now, her mother NEEDED to be proud of her now! Her mother had never really been proud of her, but she hoped that if she did exactly what her mother wanted, that she would be proud of her eventually and not talking to people who were poor or in a low class belonged was something she knew was a good thing.
The second year Slytherin was still looking around her and watched the people who were dancing or talking to each other at the dance when she suddenly heard how somebody talked… to her? Quick she turned around and stared UP at the male who stood now before her. He was older and taller than she was and he gave her a compliment about her being pretty with her dress and smiled, he was right, she WAS beautiful in her dress, her dress was pink so it was impossible to NOT like it! So what could she say about that, he told the truth… But, who was he? And what did he want?
Her silent question became quickly answered, the male was asking her if she wanted to dance with him, right? Or did she understood him wrongly? Was he not too old for her to dance with? He could have been her older brother if she had one… And had he not a girlfriend, (eewh!) to dance with? The young girl saw around her that a few people seemed to be in love with each other and she needed to suppress the urge to stuck her tongue out to them, boys were stupid and she could only think about them as friends, and nothing more!
The young girl turned her attention back to the older male and shrugged, she wondered why he was talking to her, had he no friends from his own age? But… this was better than being alone so yes, she had no problems with it but she still wanted to know who he was. “I don’t have also a dance partner!” Grinned Sonea and checked if her pink hair Ribbon was still on his place. "But, who are you?"

Jory liked the dress. But it was Ronnie who made it look good. "You make the dress look a million times better,'' he told her. Yup. It suited her. His tomato head. This was the best dance ever. Sure, he had slow danced before. At his cousin's wedding. But that was nothing compared to this. He was dancing with someone special...
Jory just held Ronnie close, moving in time with the music. Or at least he hoped he was. "Love you more.'' Grin.

"Awww, thank you!" she said, beaming some more and glancing down at her red dress. She really liked it, red was her most favorite color! Dresses were so fun to wear. She never really fancied wearing them up until about last year... she used to think they were too girly. And Ronnie hadn't been much of a fan of being girly growing up.
"I thought we loved each other equally," she replied with a giggle. At least, that's what they had agreed on the other day, wasn't it? Jory must love doing this then. And she didn't mind. She actually thought it was cute, and fun at the same time.

Jory gave Ronnie his goofy but sort of cute grin. "It is true,'' he said, nodding firmly. He had his fair share of dealing with dresses. His sister had tons and when they were younger, she made him pretend he was a salesman and she was a model shopping for dresses. Good times.
He grinned. "We did, but I like debating this with you, for some reason,'' Jory told her. And moving to the music had become so automatic now that he just got lost in it. This was the best dance ever! He rested his cheek against Ronnie's head and just held her close.

She smiled shyly. "Why, thank you." she said with a giggle. It had been a while since someone called her pretty or complimented her looks, so it felt pretty great to hear it once again. She could never get tired of it. "You look so very handsome, Jory." she said, looking him up and down again. Gah! He really did look great. He should dress like this more often... hehehe.
She laughed. "I do too. It's fun....aaand it's cute." she told him. It really was. Everything Jory did was cute, pretty much. She let her eyes slowly close and just danced with Jory. This really was perfect. She was very thankful for this dance...this was probably one of the best days ever for her!

Paulie noticed the girl looking him up and down, sizing him up, wondering who in the world he was. Perhaps she deemed that he was not worthy of a dance with her, and Paulie was beginning to believe she must be a Slytherin. But! Suddenly she grinned and exclaimed that she had no dance partner either. Aha, so there. "Well, voila. We can be dance partners." Dancing didn't have to be all googly and romantic all the time, and it appeared that that sort of dancing was really not what either of them preferred tonight. With anyone.

In as smooth a move as possible under the circumstances, Mo set Bee back on her feet, let her go, and took a few steps back from her. It was hard not to make wounded faces in her direction, so he opted for resuming his dance moves and studiously not making eye contact.
Her question was mean. It wasn't at all in the spirit of their friendship, and since he didn't know how to feel about her being mean to him when she was his Hogwarts big sis... he just ignored the question. "I'm getting a cramp in my leg. I should go rest it for a while." And leave her to Boyfriend, who had probably taught her to be so mean.

Elise wasn't actually on the dance floor because she particularly wanted to dance. No, that wasn't it at all. She just happened to enjoy the music these lovely elderly gentlemen were playing and wanted to be as near them as she could. She had a good view too, since she decided to hang around the edges of the floor and had fewer heads to see past.
So there she was, swaying slightly between her feet with a whimsical smile on her face and totally and completely oblivious to the world. That was okay, though. Nobody was going to ask her to dance with them, anyway. Elise wasn't that popular. She didn't seem to care either, she was more bothered by whether or not the band might play their song and fiddling with one of her ever-present scarves.

There's a reassurance that she wasn't going to hit her head against the cold marble. But how he moved proved to be slightly off those words, she thought quite uneasily. He did manage to put her back on her feet without mar though yet Beezus definitely noticed the semi-cold treatment. "Erm...pup?" She could tell she said or done something bad. He was even avoiding her eyes. Whoops.
.....See? And he was leaving her now. Alone. On the dance floor.
Why, that was stupid of her. She was aware that the younger 'claw was having troubles with this puberty phase and yet she brought that subject up. Curse her tongue for slipping. She'd snorted at herself for that. "Oh, okay....go find a seat. And....grab some food.....if you're hungry." she said softly. Or maybe she should join him.....since she'd just look a fool standing there all by herself.

She was late. There was nothing new about that, and the quick ice cream stop in the kitchens at the castle might've been a bit unnecessary, but despite all of that, this music was SO GOOOOOOD. For older gentlemen at least. Instead of heading towards the staff seating area like she was suppooosed to apparently, Medea made a detour towards the dance floor, pausing just at the edge near the band. The song sounded as though it was close to ending, though she still swayed and tapped her foot a little as she watched the others dance.

Instead of heading towards the staff seating area like she was suppooosed to apparently, Medea made a detour towards the dance floor, pausing just at the edge near the band. The song sounded as though it was close to ending, though she still swayed and tapped her foot a little as she watched the others dance.
Oh look! Students dancing! Cute.
Professor Elwood was drinking her Gillywater and watching the students dance trying to ignore some of the adults. She had been told to keep an eye on them to ensure they weren't dancing inappropriately by the Headmistress. She really didn't want to cramp their expressiveness but it seemed like no one was doing anything explicitly crude at the moment.
As her eyes scanned the gyrating people on the dance floor she caught sight of Medea not too far off and she moved to go join her. "Hey Medea, interesting song, isn't it?" She rotated her bangles and fixed the hem of her light blue dress. "You look nice. Look! I'm even wearing heels." She grinned as she placed a hand on the brunette's shoulder to show off the white shoes that were making her about three inches taller.

Taking a break from all the parent-professor mingling, Airey made his way over to the dance floor because it just FELT like the place to be tonight, you know? Strutting on to the dance floor, he spotted Calista and Medea and decided to moonwalk his way over towards the two.
"Heeeeeeeeelloooooooooooo ladies," he sang as he slid his way between the two of them so Calista was on his left and Medea his right. Just then the music changed to a cover of an oldie - like a series oldie - and Airey's eyes lit up. "Didn't know wizards knew Cyndi Lauper's music!"
EXCITED LOOKS BACK AND FORTH AT THE TWO LADY PROFESSORS!!!
"We've GOT to dance to this," he said as he extended a hand to both of them.

...
When did Callie get here!?
"HI! Thank yooouuuu!" she beamed, glancing down to her own more earthy toned dress when she caught sight of the death traps. Goodness. "Oh...oh vow. How are you valking?" The professor had her own heels of course, though note that she was noooot wearing them tonight. Fancy boots all the way!
Just in time for the song to end and a slower song to start playing, Airey appeared. Looking all fancy and such, like everyone else in the room. Though her gaze would. not. leave. his. jacket. Until a wild hand appeared in her line of vision. What? Dance with BOTH of them? Like...at the same time??? That was legal in dancing rules right?
BUT OF COURSE THEY WOULD!
Reaching over, she grabbed Callie's hand, giving a LOOK. Hehe, yes? Sounded like fuuuuuuun!

Medea's dress was much more toned down than her own but still she looked awesome! "Oh I love your boots!" Although she wouldn't want her feet to be so confined like her's currently were. How was she walking? Silly Medea. "I learned a long time ago. They just...aren't really practical much anymore." Castle's made with flagstones and having to climb all the way to the Divination Tower were two of the big reasons, one of the others being able to actually afford them again.
But now Airey was there! "You look," what was a British way of putting this, "dashing!" she giggled at his sparkly jacket. He really was handsome tonight. But the thoughts in her head were interrupted when the song switched to one she vaguely remembered from her parents; one that Airey recognized too apparently.
They were going to dance? OKAY!!
Callie looked at Medea when she grabbed her hand and smiled back. She took their clasped hands and placed them into Airey's one.
"Take us away Flamsteed." The blonde said as she kicked her heels off in a random direction.

Airey couldn't help but strike a bit of a pose. "Thank you, Calista. You are looking lovely, as usual. You both are," he said with a wink. Funny how confident he felt right now. Not that he was going to question it. Just go with the flow, right?
Grinning, he removed his jacket and unceremoniously tossed it...somewhere. He didn't really pay attention to where it landed at the moment. He would be able to find it after dancing if someone else didn't fetch it for him.
Taking both ladies' hands in his, he slowly backed out into the middle of the dance floor and began to lead them in the most EPIC of dances ever.

Jory grinned. "Thank ya! I don't usually dress up you know,'' he said. But it would be totally wrong for Ronnie to look her best and him looking...ordinary. He continued to move to the music, enjoying every bit of it. "This is one of the best moments,'' he told Ronnie. "I love you tons more.'' Jory grinned again. He wasn't going to give this up for a while.
And then...
What the heck was that?!Something had landed on Ronnie's and Jory's heads, completely enveloping them to their necks. "What the...'' Jory said, indignantly pulling off the thing that felt like some sort of clothing. Who was disturbing his dance? It was a white jacket. Looking around, he tried to find the owner. "Anyone lost a jacket
?'' the Puffer called, waving the jacket. Really, who ever it was should take better care of their clothes.

"You love me tons more?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. "I love you tons tons TONS mo-" but then she was cut off by something covering their heads. Wait. WHY WAS IT SO DARK?!
"AHHH!" she cried. "IT'S DARK! WHAT'SGOINGON?!" but then, whatever was on them was off. And it was a jacket. She looked at it curiously, cocking her head. Where in hell did that come from?!
