Post 9 Only 6 sickles a guess! 13 sickles gets you three guesses! 6 wrong guesses gets you a consolation prize! Buy a hint for just 1 galleon! This was going well. West watched as Dylan sold one of the jars outright and shook his head. Alright. He mentally adjusted the number of eggs remaining over the nine jars. As he sat there another customer approached, an old lady, and West smiled up earnestly at her, playing the 'adorable' card. _________________ "Hello sonny!" Said old lady leaned forward and PINCHED his cheeks. _________________ SERIOUSLYWHAT? West leaned back, recoiling physically but managing to keep a smile on his face. "Hello ma'am, are you interested in Ashwinder eggs? They make great firestarters." ___________________ "Oh dear." The old lady looked at the sign in confusion. "How much are they each? I must say its admirable to see young people out and about working instead of lollygagging about." _____________________ "Well we're not selling them individually, since everyone here is. Me and Dylan," He indicated his current business partner and always captain, "We're letting people try to gamble on the lot, for just six sickles a guess, which goes towards our continuing educations, you can try to guess how many eggs are in the nine jars under this cloth." West said in earnest. So how about it lady? He pointed at the sign and did the puppy dog eyes. It was like catnip to grandmother-types. _____________________ "Oh my!" She considered the sign, looked at the boy and then smiled warmly. "Oh I'll take one guess, sonny. Just the one mind you." She counted out the six sickles required and wrote her guess - 55 - down on the parchment. _____________________ Awww so CLOSE too. West smiled in consolation and took the money. "Sorry ma'am you didn't get it right. Do you want another guess?" _____________________ "No thank you dearie, that is QUITE enough excitement for me! Good luck boys!" The little old lady tottered away. _____________________ "Thanks!" Heeeeh. West added the money into the tin and stretched. He'd done enough for the assignment but he wasn't done yet. So of course he kept selling guesses. .... making necessary adjustments when Dylan went all bleeding heart and sold whole jars. Well at the end he, West, would still have all his five. In theory. Mhmmm. ooc: for my reference - Post 1 Post 2 Post 3 Post 4 - sales attempts- Vesper Bayliss, + the sale assist with Pensacola Bott Post 5 Vesper sale confirmed Post 6 - sale with Ira Banner confirmed Post 7- gambling warlock sale Post 8 - lady with leashed child Post 9 - little old grandma lady 18 galleons 13 sickles total, five whole jars remaining. Post 8. Dylan waved the old woman off...POLITELY...before looking to his next customer. It was a rather pleasant looking man...who apparently knew exactly what he wanted. Good. Someone who could read and didn't need it explained to them. Handing a parchment piece and quill over, Dylan caught sight of a straggler, who was eyeing West's sign with interest. A girl that looked to be about his age...Perfect. Just he kind of customer. "Excuse me, Miss. Are you interested in trying your luck today?"...Oily, charming smile snugly intact on his face, of course. "...For you, a free guess...and if the guess is right, I'll give you TWO jars." It all sounded too good to be true to him, personally...but he was being legit. He had extra jars and wanted to be rid of them. So, yea. "...If you don't get it right, I'll be six galleons for both jars...when they're originally four galleons apiece."...or that's who much he'd been selling them for... Really, Dylan didn't care at all about money... ----- The man glimpsed the younger girl as she walked up and smiled at her...and then the blonde boy had grabbed her attention. He was a smooth talker, that kid was. David subconsciously wondered if he put that talent to good use...and then decided it'd be rude to ask. Focusing on the parchment, he wrote five different numbers down and then pushed it back across the table to the talking pair. SPOILER!!: Parchment ----- Oh! Was...was...he talking to her? Abigail looked up, just a smidgen startled by the boy who'd suddenly started speaking to her. As her green eyes met his face, she blushed. Well, both the boys behind the table were gorgeous, of course...but he had a way about him... Moving to hide her face some with small hands, Abby tried to smile off her strange nervousness. "I can try, I suppose..." How could she say 'No' to that face?...or those eyes? Handing some money over, she began writing her numbers down. She'd gotten three guesses...So, she'd keep them smaller. Ashwinder eggs...The blonde didn't know much about them...or Ashwinders, in general. 35, 46, 57 Handing it back over, Abigail blushed just a little bit more. ----- Dylan accepted both pieces of parchment and eyed their answers. All of them were wrong, of course...but that was okay. "Sir...I'm sorry. These are incorrect. Thank you for playing..." Nope, he hadn't offered him any deal. So, sorry about your luck. For the girl, though...the Slytherin grinned. "Did you still want to buy the two jars for four galleons for both?" Dylan waited for an answer and when she shook her head in affirmation, he pulled two from under the black fabric and set them out in front of her. As she fished for her money, he glanced the man walking away rather disgruntled. That was life, bro. You win some, you lose some. It's never win/win all the time... When she'd paid and began walking off, the Captain turned his attention back to West. "I'm done, I think." |

"Lovely," she muttered as her sister took herself and her heels away from the stall and towards the Three Broomsticks. A tapping noise on the table distracted her from internal celebations, though. "How much?" asked a squeaky voiced man who in Elise's opinion looked quite like a rat. "Five galleons," she said quickly, holding a last jar up. Last one she had to sell, too! Now buy it, please! She was just cold and she had to go inside before her nose or her fingers simply fell off. That would be scary. "I'll take it for four," he offered, holding four gold coins out for her to see. es, four galleons. He could afford no more than that. "Deal," she grinned, taking the galleons from him and passing him a pretty jar full of really lovely eggs before pulling her scarf over her nose and walking towards the castle. The shopping she'd planned would probably have to wait for tomorrow, then. Quote:
"Really?" the girl beamed, bouncing happily like a beach ball. "YAY! I'll have one, then!" Putting what was left of her money into Miss Kat's hand, she grinned and bounced a little more. Then accepting the jar or goodies, she bounded off to the quill shop to meet her mommy. Skippedy skip skip. |
GOOD NEWS! Hogsmeade will be open until this Tuesday, May 28, so because of that, I've decided to leave the CoMC Homework #1 RP open until then, as well! So if you haven't finished up or still want to submit, you have until Tuesday, May 28 at 11:59 PM EST to submit links to me. I'm not sure of the exact time Hogsmeade will close, so I wouldn't leave the RPing until the last minute. So here's the assignment once again if you're interested! Quote:

Post 3 Nerida started to twirl her dress, well as much as she could. It only twirled a bit not tons though. "Nerida?" chimed two shrill young voices. The Ravenclaw turned and smiled Donella and Earendil!!!" What were they doing here alone? She held out her arms for the six year olds to jump into her arms, it felt like she hadn't seen them in forever! The two children ran to their sister and jumped into her arms and gave her a big hug, "Where is sisssy? Donella chimed and then Earendil added "Yeah wears Sarassi!?" Nerida found herself shrugging "I think she is still at Hogwarts." Just as she finished speaking she saw her dad and mum. Her mum was looking better each day. "Mum, dad! It looks like you got my letter?" "Yes hearing that you would be in hogsmeade it seemed like a perfect chance to come and see you. Plus I promised the kids ages ago." her mother answered. "Arwens not with us though wanted to go to a friends house." her father added. Hey perfect time to sell right?? "Well since your here, Would you like to buy an ashwinder egg, 5 galleons?" Haldir gave a smile he taught his daughter well Well I guess but only because its you....Where is your sister?" He asked while he digged into his wallet for the money. Once again Nerida said "I don't know I think she is still at Hogwarts, you know her she just wants to get out of here!" She heard her mum sigh at this both there was really nothing she could do. "Here you go darling." he said as he passed the galleons to his daughter. "MUMMY can we go now? I see itttt!" whinned Donella. Nyx gave out a chuckle before nodding and giving Nerida a kiss on her forehead before saying goodbye and taking both of the little ones hands. "Bye honey have a good selling..." her father added as he followed after them. The blonde waved goodbye and smiled it was wonderful seeing her family again. |
Post One. RIGHT. Selling things time. Everyone else was doing really well and Derry had only just managed to work up the courage to put her plan into action. She’d collected five jars and arranged them in front of her, a little way off from the others, but close enough to still be considered part of the group in case Professor Barlow thought she was wandering off. Because she wasn’t, she just thought if she was a few steps closer to the centre of the town people would see her first. Then she’d taken her hair down and charmed the sign she’d made to hover above her head. Ashwinder Eggs, fire-starters from a fiery redhead Bring it on. |

Some of which he was looking for in Hogsmeade now. Did they sell diapers here? Anyone know? And then he happened upon the area where Hogwarts students were having a fundraiser. He probably should support the school considering its current situation and his wife worked there. He had received a promotion at work anyway, so he had a few extra galleons to spend now. Galleons that SHOULD be spent on the baby to be...but Aron already had about 10 shopping bags with him of stuff. And this WAS, in a round about way, supporting the baby so.... "How much you selling for, kid?" he asked while stuffing one hand in his pants' pocket. He could probably use these ashwinder eggs at work for something. |

And this was why he was not an educator. Ahem. "I'll take two jars from you then. No need for that discount though." |

TWO jars! See how far she'd come already? RESULT. "Oh, okay, if you're sure." Derry smiled, she didn't mind giving a discount but if he said he didn't need one... "That's four galleons then, please." she said politely, taking two of the jars and stacking them carefully for him to take. |

Or however old she was. "Positive," he said with a wink as he slid the galleons to her on the table. Now he had to fit these in his bag....or bags...maybe he should just levitate all his shopping bags along side him and then just hold the jars. That was probably safest. |
