Cockroach Cluster Race

http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9449afd1.gif
It's already dark out by the time you've made your way to this station and you're greeted by your ever-friendly student leaders. Squinting, you make out Nessie's red hair first, followed by figures that could only be Jake and Elise. Be sure to pay at the turnstiles before and then you're clear to start your next obstacle on the course. Not far away from where you stand, you will notice a few plates filled with cockroach clusters and an equal number of buckets right in front of the tables of pie.

Once your eyes have adjusted to the dim light provided by the torches around the area, you are asked to put your hands behind your back. Next thing you know, soft fabric is tied around your wrists thus rendering them unable to help you in your quest. After a stern warning from Elise not to damage her scarf, you will be briefed on what you are to do. Each participant must pick up a cockroach cluster with their mouth, carry it across the area and drop it into the bucket at the other end. If you drop it? Go back, take another and try not to drop this one. You have to successfully place 5 cockroach clusters into the buckets to finish the obstacle. If you wish, you may compete against a friend and in that case the first person to finish this will win the race.

Not to worry, though. The candies are not recycled after being used. You can choose to eat them or if you would like your student leaders to vanish them, it's entirely your choice. Now, what are you waiting for? The clock is ticking and the light is dim so GET ON WITH IT!

OOC: You must make a minimum of 5 posts to complete the activity but feel free to do more if you want to. You can have your character succeed at this or fail horribly, cockroach clusters aren't always something people want to pick up with their mouths, anyway. Remember, they have their hands behind their backs and can't use them... even when the candies start to wriggle. Good luck and good speed.

This was it. Due day of the event they had all worked so hard on. Hopefully it would be a success, especially for Hogwarts because the school really needed the money at the current moment. As for her she wanted it to be successful because it was her last one and it really meant something to her.

With a warm sweater on, to keep her warm from the still fairly cold March, the Hufflepuff stood with the other two student leaders stationed at the Coackroach Custer races. It was dark, and Ness wasn't too fond of that, but of course it all went with the fright fest theme. Spooked, that was the feel they attempted to create with this event, thus why the eighteen year old wore matching red contacts in her eyes. She felt it was fitting and heck, why not?

Everything was set and ready to go. Stations were organised, food set neatly, all student leaders knew what they had to do. Everything perfectly read on time, all they needed now was for the real fun to start. So where was everybody?

Blue was FEARLESS.

Except when things came to dragons, but it was cool, dragons weren't in Great Britain at the moment and the school couldn't afford them anyway, no doubt.

Swinging her arms gently, Blue wandered over to the cockroach clusters, sliding the two sickles into the turnstiles.

"'Sup Nessie?"

She gave the Head Girl the same kind of cool-guy head jerk she'd given Alice. Now, what kinda gross thing was this? Clearly it wasn't exactly a walk in the park considering there were BUCKETS.

Jake was totally not late because he'd been doing his hair.

Nope.

However, his hair did look particularly good as he made his way to his station thing. And he was relieved to see that it wasn't very busy. Just Nessie and... someone he didn't know very well, but had seen around. Was it Blue?

"Hey, guys," he greeted cheerfully. He was ready to be a responsible event runner now. Let the games begin.

Talikins 07-04-2013 04:08 PM

Ahhh. First person. Blue.

The red head watched her approach with a warm smile on her face and couldn't help but giggle at the head jerk. Reminded her a little bit of some boss in the hood. Of course Ness did return it though, because how could she not? It was only appropriate, you know.

"Hey, girl." She originally wanted to say kiddo, but Blue was far from being a small kid so she kept her mouth shut there.

So she was here to play then? The usual pout formed on the eighteen year olds face, but her eyes were still smiling. "You want me to tell you how to play?" She asked..and then as an after thought opened her mouth once more. "Or you wanna wait for someone else to compete with?" Because that could be more fun too.

And Jake, there he was. Thankfully, because running a station would be a little better with help of course and she appreciated that she did have that, therefore he got a friendly smile.

"Hey." She greeted him back. So he was ready to get this station running then? Cause she sure was.

Sarah was really nervous. She was going to do one thing at this place after all. She was no sissy. She bounded up and spotted her prefect, Nessie and Elise. Sarah reached into her pocket and got out two sickles and placed htem into the turnstiles. Now there was no backing out- not that she was going to, she was a lion after all.

"Hey guys.. what do I do here?" she asked, taking it all in. Were those buckets? Was that for throwup or something?

Talikins 07-08-2013 11:33 AM

Aaand Blue too.

Another person. "Hey!" Beams for you, Sarah. Quite brave, heh Ness knew she would never put a cockroach cluster in her mouth unless her life depended on it. I mean it was basically made of cockroaches which were insects and just Ew. Buuut time to over come your fears...just not for Ness yet.

Eyes back on Blue though. Did they want to compete they could if they wanted to? But anyways. Instructions, Sarah had asked and Nessie needed to give them out, so attention went to the two of them because saying it once was easier than saying it twice.

"Um right let me explain." Pout. She had sort of went over in her mind how to go over the rules before saying anything aloud, she wanted to make sure she knew for herself precisely. "First, one of us will tie your hands behind your back with a scarf, this is so you cant use your hands and we'll be watching in case you do." One of us and we as in her Elise, or Jake. " Next you each have to pick a cockroach cluster from one of those plates using your mouths and run across to those buckets whilst carrying it. One you are there you can drop the cockroach cluster in the bucket. " Poooint to where the buckets were, which was right in front of the pies. They could see then, yep? Moving on. "You each have to get five cockroach clusters into those buckets to complete the obstacle, if you drop them along the way then you have to go back and get another." Easy enough to understand? She hoped so, and if they had any questions she was here. One last thing, because obviously they couldn't read her thoughts. "If you guys want to compete, you can race and see who finishes first." Cause competition was fun.

So they were ready? And Elise had her scarves ready too, yep?

>_<

Well, people had sure arrived quickly and Elise had barely even but her small chest of scarves down when they did. Looking around and recognizing a few faces, she smiled at each of them and pulled out a scarf for them each. It was when they spoke up and asked how to play the game that Elise's hand started shaking. Was she supposed to answer? Because she was bad at the whole verbal communication thing, in case people hadn't noticed. Thank Merlin Nessie spoke up when she did or who knew what would have happened.

Smiling gratefully at the Head Girl, Elise held the scarves up, tossed one at her that she was slightly less worried about. Not that she didn't worry, just slightly less. It was a stretchy scarf, and it was much less likely to tear than the ones she was holding and if anyone ripped her scarf, she would do things that were best not mentioned out loud. "Like Nessie said, you guys are essentially going to move the cockroach clusters from point A to point B with your mouths." No hands, because Elise now had a new box of contact lenses and she could see them.

Now, were they ready to have their hands tied behind their backs?

Princesspower 07-08-2013 02:16 PM

Sounds interesting.. at least they were not making them cover their eyes. "I am all for it!.. I would prefer not to compete as I am very competitive and Blue is my friend..." which goes down to the main reason of "I don't want to get to stressed out and all".

She did not need to have her hands tied as Sarah was too honest and moral for that. She knew that even if no one else was watching her conscience was and that was the thing that berated her the most. She put her hands behind her back, "you can tie them... by the way, why don't you use the incarceous spell?" the one that ties things up. But she did not mind scarves.

"Also, do we have to do only one cluster at a time?" because Sarah had a big mouth cavity.

Anya did her best not to make too many faces as she made her way to her boyfriend's side. Poor guy. He hated bugs and here he was stuck with the cockroach themed activity.

She dropped two sickles into the turnstile before heading over to him. She had no plans of competing. Especially because of ... ew, gross... reasons.

"Hey, babe." she greeted not even bothering to say hey to Nessie or Elise. She'd say hi to them later. Maybe. If she remembered. Which, may or may not happen because she was completely occupied with boyfriend related thoughts at the moment.

"This doesn't actually have dirt in it... does it? Because... muggle ones don't, but you can't be too careful with magic things because..." Her voice dropped off when she remembered they weren't alone and she really shouldn't insult magical food. Ahem. So. Dirt. Was she safe to eat this?

Oh. And. Did he want one? Because she grabbed two. And she'd eat the gummy worms if his bug problems extended to gummy!bugs.

Syd 07-09-2013 04:30 PM

*eyes my previous post* I always think Blue is a Prefect >_< Sorry!

Jake fidgeted with the scarf in his hands, waiting for Nessie to explain the rules of the game so he could do his end of the deal. He couldn't really do anything else... the girls had the instructions taken care of, and there was no way that he would volunteer to race somebody that was here alone. He wouldn't put a bug in his mouth for any reason ever.

Thankfully, a voice distracted him from feeling sort of useless and thinking about bugs.

"Hey, love," he said, a smile instantly brightening his expression when he saw Anya approach. He was glad to see that his girlfriend decided to join the fun... or at least keep him company. Not that the Ravenclaw Captain and the Head Girl weren't nice company... but nobody in their right mind would complain about girlfriend!company.

Taking the cup she offered to him, Jake inspected it. "I have no idea," he answered. He wasn't in charge of the food. He knew Anya expected a better answer, though, so he dipped his tongue into the cup and tried a bit of whatever was in it. After a moment of tasting, he shook his head. "No dirt."

However, there were gummy worms. Thankfully this candy!bug, he knew for certain, didn't have real bugs in it. And it wasn't detailed enough to actually look like a worm. So he could eat it with no issues whatsoever. Which he did.

LilFox06 07-12-2013 01:04 AM

Anya watched as Jake licked the dirt cup. Oh good. The ... imitation-dirt up. That meant she was safe to eat it. Unlike cockroach clusters. The name was enough to scare her off. She'd never even bothered to find out if it actually had cochroaches in them, or if it was just a name.

She half smiled when Jake at the gummy worm. Cute. She was glad that his bug phobia didn't translate to gummy related foods. Or maybe it was just gummy worms? She should offer him a gummy spider one day to see how he reacted.

Anyway. She looked around. "So. What's going on here?" Oh. And she should probably greet the other student leaders.

"Hey Nessie. Elise."

The Narrator 07-12-2013 08:21 PM

As the event started to wind down and the torches steadily burned lower, a thick, cold fog began to move out from the forest. It remained low to the ground at first as ice crystals thickened and solidified over the grass.

It seemed winter or something more sinister had not yet left Hogwarts.

Syd 07-12-2013 09:22 PM

Jake half-smiled at Anya when she asked what was going on. "Well, the basic idea is that your hands are tied, and you use your mouth to..." he trailed off, suddenly becoming distracted. Was that... fog? Coming out of the forest? It was March. There wasn't supposed to be fog like this. Especially out of nowhere...

Taking a quick glance around, Jake pulled his girlfriend closer to his side. Over by the seating area he saw a couple black shapes... floating. Which wasn't a good sign. Quickly, Jake made sure everyone was accounted for. Anya, Nessie, Elise, Blue, Sarah. Okay, good. Then he slipped his wand out of it's holster and gripped it in his hand. Call him paranoid... but he didn't like what he was seeing.

He had, by this point, completely forgotten about the game.

LilFox06 07-12-2013 10:59 PM

Anya blinked several times as the ground around them seemed to freeze. Soon Jake was pulling her. She scooted closer into him as the freezing ground came closer. She breathed out and was surprised at how cold she was.

And she wasn't the only one that was concerned. Jake had stopped talking.

"Jake..." she whispered continuing to look down. "... I'm starting to get cold."
