The last Charms lesson of the year has finally arrived! As you walk into the classroom today, you probably won't be surprised to find that it looks as it normally does. Normal and boring.
However, Professor Knox isn't where she usually is at the front, near her desk. In fact, she isn't even in the classroom at all. The chalkboard in front, instead of having the normal, lame message, has a GIANT smiley face drawn on it.
Have fun, kids.
OOC: Class will start in either 12 hours... or 20 hours. We'll see. Take a seat and enjoy whatever in the world is happening! Woohoo!
His eyes went heavenward at her antics. While he didn't like to see her sad. Ever. He was not going to budge on this. He would rather her sad and probably mad at him then have something bad happen to her.
"You can pull as many faces as you like Z. But you'll thank me later. Unless he was wrong about this, but he didn't think he was.
He gave her a nudge with his shoulder. "I promise to make it up to you." Actually he wished he hadn't promised that now. Merlin, only knew what she would get him to do.
Michael glanced towards the front. "The spell is probably too powerful for something like ice cream." Or something like that.
FAT CHANCE. When else was she going to get to gobble ice cream in lessons? THANK HIM, he says? THANK HIM, he thinks? PFFFF SCOFFFF YEAH RIGHT. Toussaints.
But she was listening with this making it up to her deal. OH YEAH? Zahra was listening with BOTH EARS.
....to Mikey. Not to the Professor. But everyone else was waving their wands and muttering and such, so Zahra did that too, willy nilly, la ti da, wave and loop and jab!
"I want you to eat all the questionable Bertie Bott Beans next box Mum sends. At once. And you have to give me all the good ones." That might BEGIN to make up for denying her UNLIMITED ICE CREAM DURING CLASS.
It was time to try the spell...for real. Asher took out his wand and pointed it at his bowl of ice cream. "Here we go. Conglacio!" He waved his wand in the appropriate circular motion and watched the spell happen.
He wondered if it would change the texture or flavor of his tasty treat.
Oh look. It seemed like everyone was done complaining about the ice cream or fighting in favour of it or whatever other stupid things they were doing. And OH, look at that. Ascanius STILL didn't care. The obsession with ice cream at this school was ridiculous and they all sounded as such. Jeez, no need for everyone to get all crazy. It was headache inducing. 'Cept for the pretty girls. Smirk. They could run their mouths all they liked. Wink.
But yeah, everyone else? Shut up. Seriously. He was real sick of this, yeah? 'Sides Quidditch diet already said he couldn't eat it...so...bummer.
Anyway, he was going to do what he had to do spellwork and all and tehn he was gonna leave. Like right after he was dismissed. This class was getting old and if he wanted to see people fight he would just go home to Essex where at least the fighting was GOOD. Pfft.
Drawing out his wand, he started to mutter under his breath so that the spell was said properly. Latin, like his name, BAM. "Conglacio, con-GLAY-see-oh." Smirk, yeah he knew where the stress was. "Conglacio, conGLAcio, conglacio." Sounding good.

If there was ice cream, she would want to eat it right away! "Now, here we go! Today we will be learning a new spell that will keep anything, particularly ice cream, ice cold as long as you want it!" Ivy then turned around and wrote the incantation on the board behind her.
Conglacio con-glay-see-oh
"Now, let's talk about how this charm works. What you will do is; take your wand, say the incantation, and circle your wand around the object you wish to stay cold." Ivy demonstrated as she spoke, drawing a circle around the bowl of ice cream on the cart in front of her. "The charm will identify the current temperature of the food of object and keep it at that exact temperature until you lift the charm or eat it! Easy as pie!" Ohhh, pie sounded good, too...
Ivy clapped her hands together. "So, here's what I want you to do: Practice saying the incantation without your wand. You can do it with a friend to make sure you've got it right. Then, use the charm on your bowl of ice cream. You won't know if it worked for at least five or ten minutes when you'll see if it has started to melt or not. Get to it! And come get some more ice cream while you're waitiiiiiiing!!!"
OOC: Take 4 posts to do this. One to practice the incantation, one to do the spell, one to wait a few minutes and eat ice cream(or socialize?) (heheh), and another to make sure your ice cream is still frozen. You have about... 36 hours to do this. It's a pretty easy assignment, but let me know if you need more time. Don't be afraid to ask questions. It's late; I could be not making sense at all.
Sooo now it was time to practice the spell apparently. Which was probably good since if they took too long to learn the ice cream would melt anyway. And who wanted to keep already-melted ice cream cold? No one. So yeah, time to practice.
Just the incantation first though. "Con-glay-see-oh," Penelope said, sounding out the syllables carefully. It didn't feel too hard though. Not super long or complicated like some others. "Conglay-seeoh. Conglayseeoh. Conglacio." There, that sounded right. "Conglacio." Yeah, that wasn't too bad. And then the movement was just a circle right? That also wasn't too hard.
Hopefully they wouldn't be too hard once they were used together either.

One thing Asher didn't care for was waiting. It just wasn't his thing. Trying his best to be patient, he took little bites of ice cream, letting the sweet flavor fill his head then slowly travel to his stomach.
He glanced around at the other students in the class. It appeared several of them had someone to talk to. They were chatting away while enjoying the treat. He was alone. Just him and his bowl. Waiting.
Now that he had the incantation down-- smirky smirk-- he could move on and make this whole thing be done. 'Cause yeah. So he just smirked a little and drew the circle around his cup, 'cause it was an easy wand motion, and said clearly, "Conglacio." Made sure to exaggerate the second syllable also for reasons. And then, he watched.
Nothing was happening. RIIIIIIGHT. Because with magic he had to wait or whatever to see if the ice cream melted, not that he cared either way. He wasn't gonna eat it. Pfft.
Alright so the charm they had to use was Conglacio???? That shouldn't be TOO hard to pronounce. He wanted to do it on his own this time. He needed to because no one would be there to help him in the future if he ever was in a situation alone.
Anyways he copied it down in his notebook and said..."Con-glac-io....Conglacio....Conglacio....Conglacio....Congl acio....Conglacio...."
YUP! He was getting the hang of it! He was smiling to himself. He was still practicing saying the incantation. Now he had to work on the wand movements next.

Eyeing the ice cream in her bowl to make sure it wasn't melting on her ahead of time, Penelope took a deep breath to help herself focus on this spell. Conglacio. Conglayseeoh. Conglacio. Yeah, she could do this.
Moving her wand in a circle around the ice cream, she spoke the incantation, "Conglacio." And then she eyed it some more. Had it worked? Spells never seemed to work for her on the first time, but usually she could tell. Not with this one though. She had to just...wait to see if it worked? Well...fine.
She leaned back in her seat, arms crossed, watching the ice cream with a bored expression.

This charm seemed pretty handy indeed! She could use it in all sorts of situations, not just on ice cream. Though ice cream was obviously by far the most important one at hand. She took one sneaky bite of the ice cream as she thought about the incantation. Conglacio. Con...glay...see...oh. Not too hard.
She sat her ice cream down and mouthed the word once before uttering sound. "Conglacio, conglacio...conglayyyyseeohhh. Conglacio." She sat smiling at the ice cream, excited to finally be able to know how to keep it as cold as she wanted for as long as she wanted. This could work for drinks too! And snowmen! And um...other cold things! She didn't even care that the professor was acting completely out of character. In fact, she loved this new Knox! She casually chalked it up to first teaching year nerves that had her so uptight at first. This must be what she was really like and Eliza was gla she finally felt comfortable showing it to them.
He had to continue to wait. This step was the worst. S'wasn't that he wasn't a patient person, pfft, just that this was dumb. He was ALL for waiting for things that were worth the wait, ahem, but this stuff with the ice cream? So not worth it. Jeez, could they just stop with all of this ice cream stuff? It was really annoying and pointless. Couldn't even eat it.
So he was just gonna watch the ice cream and pretend that he cared. Oh no wait. He didn't. This step was stupid. REALLY stupid.

After about half a minute of staring, Penelope sorta zoned out, her mind wandering to anything and everything that had nothing to do with the lesson. Mostly she was wondering how long it would take her to get down to the kitchen after this lesson was over and she was HUNGRY and ice cream alone did NOT cut it. She needed way more, like tacos and bacon and sandwiches and fruit and pizza and cookies and chocolate and...the list was endless. She probably wouldn't have ALL those after the lesson because cooking and making all that would take AGES and she wasn't gonna wait forever for food. Just needed a few things that didn't take long to cook - or didn't need to be cooked at all - so that she could eat quickly. Yeah...that sounded good....
Her mind wandered away from her food list after several minutes, and she had to blink to clear her vision and see the ice cream clearly...which looked to be starting to melt. Crud. She sat up.
"Conglacio," she said again, making the circle motion with her wand around it again. There. Maybe that would work? Had to wait some more again though. Meh.

Sigh. She thought he was smart. And she was pretty. It was like fate, if only fate had a sense of humor about May-December romances. Mo put his cheek to his fist and sighed morosely. Again.
Older women. Right?
What were they supposed to be doing? Eat ice cream? Admire Professor Knox's... shoes again? Oh SPELLWORK. Yes. Class. Mo popped up and shoved over all his bowls of ice cream to one side in order to try out the spell. Draw a ci-i-i-ircle with his wand. Clearly say the word, "Conglacio."
Seemed easy enough. Only... "Professor? You said it will identify the temperature of the food and keep it at that temperature. Does this spell only work on temperatures that are lower than the ambient temperature in a room? It won't keep cocoa hot, for example?"
Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia
So more waiting... Meh.
Instead of daydreaming this time, her eyes wandered around the room to watch what everyone else was doing. They were all going at their own pace with this and were in various stages of practicing, casting, and waiting. Everyone else who was waiting seemed pretty bored too, not that she blamed them. Waiting to see if ice cream stayed cold and didn't melt was not particularly exciting.
Penelope continued to scan the room until her eyes landed on her boyfriend. Maybe she could watch him for a few minutes...but he wasn't doing anything exciting either. He seemed just as bored as the rest of them. Which was understandable. It WAS really boring.
She continued to watch him anyway though, just sitting and waiting to see if he was gonna look around to or stare at his ice cream the whole time, and then reluctantly turned back to her ice cream after a few more minutes.
It looked...the same as it had when she'd cast the spell. That was...good, right? Meant it had worked?
Awesome. She grinned.

Zahra was still waving her wand and la la la this and that jab-jab-jab and NOT EATING DELICIOUS ICE CREAM. Since she didn't have anything ELSE to do, she actually listened to other people for a minute.
SNORT.
"Mo is .... like.... super nerdy," amIright? Zahra had her wand tip in her MELTING ICE CREAM, stirring it all around from bowl to WASTED bowl. "Glad we decided against Ravenclaw." For real. Was Copey and Plymmy and Cela all super nerds too?

Time to get practicing the spell and get the class really started. Tag paid attention to the steps the Professor was telling all her students and repeated them, for his own good, in his head a couple of times.
So, first he had to simply practice the incantation. Easy enough. " Con-Glay-see-oh. Con-Glay-see-oh. Conglacio. Conglacio! Conglacio!" That sounded just about right. Yep. Tag then went over the second step in his head before he decided to continue.
FAT CHANCE. When else was she going to get to gobble ice cream in lessons? THANK HIM, he says? THANK HIM, he thinks? PFFFF SCOFFFF YEAH RIGHT. Toussaints.

Yep. Totally going to regret making that promise. "And how does my eating the gross Bertie Beans make it up to you?" Not what he had in mind at all. "Is this you getting back at me for making you eat dirt that time?" Because she said she hadn't minded at the time.
"But if I'm right about something being wrong with the ice cream then you are going to owe me big time Zahra Kettleburn." Especially after eating vomit and booger flavored beans.
Now they had that sorted, he supposed he should practice the charm. "Con - glay -see -oh." Yeah not so hard. "Conglacio. Come on Z, you gotta say it too."
Michael glanced over to where Mo was sitting and snorted. Not because he thought that Mo was super nerdy, okay yes he did, but he couldn't help but laugh at Z's last comment. "I was never going to get into Ravenclaw." He might look like his Aunt Cela but he did not have her brains.

Reason: Totally missed Touzy's 2nd post
He was so BOOOOOOOORED. On a scale of one to really bored, he was close to falling asleep 'cause yeah, boring. Half of this entire experiment revolved around just sitting there. And he was not keen on doing that, 'specially cause he could be doing a million and seven other things.
So he started to look around the room at all of the pretty girls, 'cause that was a natural progression of boredom. He spotted the Professor and smirked. This school was awesome in that way. Female Professors were so fit.
And then he saw his girlfriend who was watching him. Smirky smirk. Yeah,he was attractive. All could look if they wanted. This jaw wasn't here to jjust look pretty. It had real life applications too, like TO look at. Ahem. So sup Pen? Smirk.
Oh wait, time to look at ice cream. It was STILL the same. Wow. Magic. So fascinating. That was sarcasm by the way.
Finally, the wait was over. Asher picked up his spoon and tested the still firm ice cream. "Yum!" It was just as cold as when they started and tasted just as wonderful.
He sat his spoon down a moment, headed to the front, and refilled his bowl with more ice cream.
This waiting business could be quite difficult when you didn't have people to talk to or couldn't go around practising other Charms. Sophie was sure professor Knox wouldn't be very pleased if she started casting random spells during her lesson... though Sophie didn't really know anymore, since the woman was not being herself at all that day. But she wouldn't risk it.and also, most of her friends were being weird right now. The Hufflepuff sighed a small sigh of relief when she saw that a couple of people who weren't eating the ice cream, just like her.
Normally, she wouldn't have a hard time watching her classmates for a bit, but that day it was sure making her feel uneasy. She couldn't help but feel absolutely suspicious of the ice cream, but, honestly... she had no clue what to do, since it had apparently infected the professors as well. Maybe she should go talk to one of the other kids that weren't taking ice cream either.
But anyhow... whattup, ice cream? Are you going to melt or what? Sophie stared at her enchanted bowl of ice cream, half expecting it to melt, but immediately remembering about the spell. Oh, good! She almost freaked out about how this ice cream was freaky enough not to melt... hehe, her bad!

Oh... was he looking at her weird or was she just to aware of his feelings towards what she liked to eat. Hmm she wasn't sure, but she fidgeted in her seat a bit. As he said she was correct on the wand movement she watched as he pulled out his wand and did the spell. He was so good with his wand whether he liked to know it or not.
"Yes it looks pretty easy." She smiled really big at him nudging him a bit. See this can be fun keeper boy... Everything is fun.. She turned to her ice cream and was about to put her finger in it again when she felt eyes on her.. Oh yes no ice cream at least not right now.. She fought the urge to eat it and pulled her wand. Clearing her throat and trying to push away the need to eat what was in front of her she circled the bowl. "Conglacio"
"So now we wait... how long again?" She looked at Ethan .. Why wasn't she sure of any of this.. She always knew what was going on, but right now all she wanted was that chocolate goodness in front of her.
She had such a beautiful smile.. Ethan couldn't help but return it with a smile of his own, though probably not nearly as big.. and even though he knew hers was most likely ice cream induced.. or at least influenced. His eyes wandered over to her bowl, watching as she performed the spell, and he nodded as it appeared she did it correctly.
Green eyes snapped back to her blue ones at her question. "Right, we wait.. umm.." He glanced over to his bowl. "Well, I think if it worked, it would work right away.." Then he peered down at his notes. "But we won't be able to tell it worked for five or ten minutes." Because by then the ice cream would have started to melt. "So about five minutes or so, then you can look to see if it remains unchanged or if it's melted at all.." Not that he wanted to look at it at all.. the fact that it was even as close to him as it was, was turning his stomach.
So, they just had to wait.. Ethan leaned back in his seat and turned to his girlfriend. They could just talk or something, right? Knox had her head so far up in the clouds, he was sure she wouldn't care. Too bad there was this weird, awkward tension right now because of the frozen poison dessert.. but he was going to try to push past that. "So.." What to talk about.. oh! "I've been practicing that music you gave me.. maybe I can play it for you later, if you're not busy.." He gave her a genuine smile thinking about playing the piano, especially for her.

"'Cause it'll be funny and I get all the good ones, Duncehead." She whipped her ice cream covered wand out of the ice cream, SPLATTERING WHOEVER was nearby unknowingly with it -- to press it's sticky wet end to Mikey's robes. Just because. Because he thought something was wrong ice cream and for all the times she'd eaten dirt and because she was bored and it'd bother him.
Ehhh. Okay fiiiiiiiiiiiine. "Con-glaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay-see-oooooooooooooooooooooh." How was he motivated to learn this without a treat?? "You don't have to tell me.I was just being nice to save your poor baby feelings." TEEHEEEEHEEEE.
Sophie grabbed the spoon thingy and gave one last look around the classroom. Merlin...
Anyway. The girl poked the ice cream she was working with a few times to check if it was still... unmelted. It did feel like a LONG time waiting - but that might be because she wanted time to go faster now -, so since the ice cream had not melted yet, she believed her spell had worked.
Ohey, cool! Perhaps this way class would go faster; if Sophie focused on the Charm they were learning.
...Merlin, it was difficult, though. Crazy people were crazy. Hm... Sophie considered lifting the spell to watch the ice cream melt so she could re-freeze it, but she didn't want to risk losing points for not sticking to the spell being taught in that lesson.
So she put her wand on the desk again and waited.... with a poker face and trying her best to ignore the mental people around her.

Now that she had that down (not that it was that hard), it was time to actually cast the spell. Wand ready, Sky waved it in a circular pattern over the bowl. "Conglacio." And yes, that was boredom in her voice. She was tired of all this ice cream stuff. Even worse was the fact that they hadn't been warned to bring sometime to fill the waiting time that she was going to have to endure. Not that she was eating the ice cream anyway.
She pulled out an ink pen and started doodling on her hand to pass the time, her feet propped up on her desk. With a smirk, because she was wearing black shorts instead of the traditional skirt.

Five to ten MINUTES....YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING!!! She looked at the bowl, but but she wanted to eat it right now.. Did she really have to wait for five to ten minutes, "But..but... what if it melts.. We can't let this fantastic ice cream melt... I.. I mean" She bit her lip knowing that was not the right thing to say in front of Ethan. "The spell will work nothing to worry about and if it doesn't... Oh well.. right." WRONG... If it melted it would be a horrible tragedy, it would be ice cream abuse...
Trying to force her eyes of the chocolate heaven she turned to the green eyes that always made her smile. Even with a big smile and the happy feeling she had it felt hard to keep focused on his words. Practicing... music... what.. oooohhhhh with some of the stuff that had went on Minerva almost forgot about her gift. "Oh I would love to hear you play it. I know you will do wonderful at it." Did he have to ask her if she was busy.. to hear him play.. "Of course I want to hear it. We can go after class if you want." Yes just after she eats this yummy goodness, because it just couldn't melt...
Speaking of the yummy goodness blue eyes back on the chocolate, "Has it been five minutes yet??? Ten even???"

WILD WAND WAVING AND ICE CREAM SLINGING YEAAAAAHHHHHHHH.
While Michael had his father's patience and could put up with a lot. Because when you had a friend like Zahra, you had to have a lot of patience, but there were times, like now the he'd had enough.
He grabbed hold of the end of her wand. To stop the poking and leaned in closer to her. "I am going to shove this up your nose in a minute ." Or maybe he would just freeze it off instead.
Would the Professor get mad if he pushed his friend off her chair and tackle her to the ground. He was very tempted to do that right about now.
Taking deep breath instead, Mikey circled his wand around the bowl of ice cream in front of him and said the incantation. "Conglacio."
So now they had to wait. He look at sZ again and internally grimaced. "Have you eaten ice cream before today?
