The last Charms lesson of the year has finally arrived! As you walk into the classroom today, you probably won't be surprised to find that it looks as it normally does. Normal and boring.
However, Professor Knox isn't where she usually is at the front, near her desk. In fact, she isn't even in the classroom at all. The chalkboard in front, instead of having the normal, lame message, has a GIANT smiley face drawn on it.
Have fun, kids.
OOC: Class will start in either 12 hours... or 20 hours. We'll see. Take a seat and enjoy whatever in the world is happening! Woohoo!

The wand movement didn't need practicing, given it was just tracing a circle around the bowl... nothing big to worry about there. West picked his wand up nudged the bowl of plain vanilla in front of him and then traced a circle around it. Focusing on the task at hand. "Conglacio!"
... so... now to wait? Right? And by the way it was REALLY hard to concentrate on this stuff with so many people acting the lunatic around. Even his own girlfriend. Weird.
So now he had to wait yeah? West grabbed a text book and began scanning through, looking for something in particular.

Right, so...Wand out.
Dylan spend a few moments maneuvering his wand in circles. More preparation before actually casting. He didn't know the extent of this charm. It was new...and he really didn't want to take any chances. He just wasn't in the mood.
It was the ice cream. It smelled foul and was making his stomach turn like whoa.
After doing some more circles and such, he took a deep breath and focused. Keep the gross ice cream cold. Keep it from melting. Keep it as a solid...
"Conglacio!" Circle around le bowl. To be spiteful, he hoped it didn't freeze...
Snort.
Digging through his bag, he pulled his Arithmancy text and scanned. NEWT study never stopped!

So waiting and whatever. And no, West was NOT eating the ice cream. Did he... need to pretend like he was or anything? He glanced up from his book at the professor and then decided that he wouldn't, he'd just say that he was saving it to make sure that he'd done the spell right. Anyway he was looking for specific stuff, stuff about temperature charms and all that.
.... waiting was boring. Really boring. But... West figured there was a better way. What if he tried to hurry it up? He could use a warming charm, sure, but there was an easier way... a way that didn't involve asking permission to use a charm in class and all that.
... West breathed on the ice cream, using the heat of his breath to, y'know, test the melting and all. Because if the spell didn't work... the ice cream would melt....

Forrest wanted to transfer to a different wizarding school as soon as possible.
He just stared at the Professor but she did look so serious. Well, serious about this spell--because she looked quite disoriented otherwise. Well. If that was her wish then.
Listening to other students' practice to hear the word perfectly, he took a deep breath and said "Con-glaaay-see-oh." Why wasn't it '--sho'? Hmm... probably the Professor knew better than him.
"Con-glaaay-see-oh." Maybe this was a spell to destroy the ice-cream?
"Con-glaay-see-oh." Nah. Professor Lady looked the most excited about this. It certainly was a spell to conserve the ice-cream. Forrest made a face again.
"Con-glay-see-oh." Time to practise it with a wand?

Eating it? Now why would she go and do a stupid thing like that? After seeing how crazy it was making people, especially. But she knew that in order to get a grade, she had do the work. She could just 'accidentally' drop the ice cream if need be. Taking a deep breath, Sky started practicing the pronounceation of the charm, wand still in it's usual place up her sleeve.
"Conglacio.......Conglacio......."

Forrest took his wand out of his bag and circled it around the bowl--because there was no such thing as 'enough practising'--and looked around boredly again. He didn't want to learn this. This was the silliest spell ever. But images of an angry Professor Lady freezing HIM crossed his mind, and he didn't have any choice but to try the spell. Not that it would work. None of his spells worked the first time. He was just going to try it for his own safety.
Taking a deep breath, he said "Con-gray-see-ooooh," as he circled the bowl with his wand. Did it work? He poked it with his spoon. He knew they had to wait for a few minutes but--hmm, what would happen if he cast the spell again? Would it freeze further?
"Con-gray-see-oh." And another circling motion with his wand, because he was pretty sure it didn't work the first time. And it wouldn't work this second time too. Because he was a muggleborn, and he certainly wasn't Hermione Granger. One last time? They said three was the magical number.
"Con-gray-see-oh." Circle. Because three was the number. Not that Forrest believed it worked this time either, because he didn't do any visualising stuff, nor did he really believe it would work. Just so Professor would see he tried.
Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese
Dylan was supposed to be waiting.....and he did just that. In fact, instead of socializing or speaking with his peers, he continued on with some Arithmancy study. He'd already done well with other subjects and their various textbooks...but the art of numbers...was leaving a lot to be desired. He just couldn't wrap his mind around all the things...
Ugh.
All he wanted to do with pass all twelve NEWTs. Dylan had knocked the OWLs out of the park...and this was the final hurdle. Finally all the hard work from the past three years would be coming to an end...
Hmmmmmm...
Also, when he went to check the ice cream and the charm...was he meant to eat that disgusting mess? Because...heh...that wasn't happening.
Diet...and allergies. Yep. That was the Slytherin's story and he was totally sticking to it.

Dang, things were moving quickly in this class. Theo wrote down Glacius because that was one that he had always wanted to learn. Not that writing it down would teach him anything. Anyway - the new spell. Theo was glad that it was pretty easy to pronounce, and actually just rolled off the tongue, which NEVER happened.
Conglacio.
Theo nodded to himself then cleared his throat dramatically. "Conglacio." He always felt like a tool whenever he had to speak out loud like this in class to practice.
"Con-glay-see-ohhhh." Yeah, that would do.
Easy. Peasy.

Minerva stuck her finger in the ice cream again as she listened scooping out a bit and sticking it in her mouth. Once she had sucked all the ice cream off her finger she pushed the bowl away a bit. She needed to save some of the charm and at this rate she would have to get more. As she heard the name of the charm she jotted it down on her parchment and let it run through her mind Conglacio , Conglacio, Conglacio. Once the directions were given and Knox said that they could work with someone she turned to face Ethan..
...and maybe she should have stayed looking at her ice cream... hmmm
She could tell as soon as she looked at him that he had a frustrated look and she knew it was the ice cream and the promise that blinking at her finger she had just pretty much broken.. Taking a deep breath and smiling because as upset as her stomach and heart were trying to tell her to feel over breaking her promise her brain was saying be happy this was a great class.
"Do you want to say the incantation with me?" or should I find someone that isn't mad at me she wondered. She just wanted to plead with him that it was there last charms class to work together, because seventh year and leaving her issues... yeah.. let's not bring those up or this entire bowl of ice cream was going to be gone before the spell even was placed on it.
As she waited to see if frustrated boyfriend hater of ice cream pants was going to work with her or not, Min decided to keep saying the spell in her head breaking it apart this time. Con-glaaay-see-oh, Con-glaaay-see-oh, Con-glaaay-see-oh
Queen of Typos | The OTHER OTHER Roro | WICKED is Good
The snake was listening intently to all discussions about how to keep it cold. She did guess Glacuis ,at first, would do the trick. Well, she turned out to be wrong. But that's fine, right? They were here to learn. Though some were here just to eat ice-cream. Noooooot her business. Ahem. Back to the lesson. Reaching for her textbook, Cassia scribbled notes about what Knox was saying. About the (Conglacio).
Putting her textbook aside, the blond brought the bowl closer to her. It did sound easy to do. Placing her wand on the desk as well, she sat back. Practicing time. "Con-gla-cio," She said slowly and a bit lazily. They had plenty of time right? Unless the ice-cream started to melt. Then it'd be bad.
With a quill in hand, she drew a circle around the bowl and spoke, "Conglacio," There! That was practicing.
Just for good measures, she drew another circle in the air, a bit clumsily. Good thing the desks were afar from each other.

So now he waited? Forrest shrugged to himself and busied himself by looking around. Should he check the time? Was there a time limit? He didn't know. He growled annoyedly. Just how long did he have to wait? He checked his watch, but it was of no use. The Professor had been too distracted to set a time frame. He put his hands on each other and lay it on the desk, then he lay his head on his hands. Now he was eye-level with the bowl. He apparently had to find his own way to see whether the spell worked. Eyes on the bowl, he started to examine it with his eyes. He tried to memorise the shape of it, but it wasn't helping. He was too distracted/bored to focus. His spell didn't work anyway. There was really no need for him to wait there.
Ice-cream, Ice-cream and Ice-cream, why was EVERYBODY talking about ICE-CREAM! This spell was stupid and she hated it! Yes, she knew that this spell would be useful for other things, not that she could think about anything at the moment… Again, she sighed and tried to listen to what professor Knox was telling. “Conglayseeoh…” she spoke the spell in a silent whisper, trying if it would be difficult or not and she decided that it was really easy… Or at last, to speak it, she didn’t knew if it was also easy to use the spell… She repeated the spell again for another few times before she was sure that she was ready to try it on real ice-cream. She looked around her and was still in a bad mood, she DIDN’T wanted to have a partner, and if somebody would try it to speak to her or to ask her she would be mad at the poor other student.
Ethan basically ignored the question posed by Professor Knox. He did not care why glacius wasn't the best charm to use on ice cream, if he never heard another word about ice cream it would be too soon.. plus, nearly half the class gave the same or similar answers and he didn't feel the need to parrot anyone. Instead, he simply doodled in his parchment journal until Knox mentioned the charm that they would be using.
He had to admit it was a rather useful charm though he was certain that after today's class he would never be using it on ice cream. It was probably a charm used in his own kitchen at home, now that he thought about it. He took to copying down a few notes in his journal when he heard the voice at his side.
Ethan turned to look at Minerva as she suggested they work together. This entire class and nearly everything about it frustrated him and he wanted nothing more than to walk out right now, but sure.. if he had to be here he would work with her. It was killing him to watch her be so excited for the ice cream he thought of as poison, but he tried to remember that it wasn't her fault. Managing a weak smile, he nodded. "Yeah, okay.. doesn't seem to hard.."
Green eyes glanced back down at his notes. Conglacio."Con - glay - see - oh.." he drawled out. "Conglacio.." He shrugged, then glanced up at Min. "That's it, right? Easy enough.. your turn.." Would the charm work as easy as it was said? Even though it was that dreaded ice cream, Ethan was actually interested in seeing how the charm worked.. though maybe he'd have to try it on something else outside class. It was meant to work on variable temperatures, right? At least that's what he thought Knox said..

Gareth Bale has the ball as he advances into Inter Milan's defense. Lucio tries to stop him but he is too heavy for Bale, his tackle doesn't even reach him. Bale goes on left wing, shoots, GOOOOOAAAAALLLL! GOAL GOAL GOAL! HE SCORED HIS SECOND, TOTTENHAM'S THIRD GOAL!
"GOA--"
He wasn't in a stadium. He frowned as he yawned, and rubbed his eyes. What was everyone--oh, the ice-cream! He was in charms class, in bloody Hogwarts where he wasn't allowed to watch TV. Had he really fallen asleep in a class? He stole a glance at the Professor. Embarrassment and guilt hit him hard, but disappointment was the strongest emotion now. He still couldn't watch TV. He still was far, far away from Premier League action. He was dealing with stupid ice-cream freaks instead. He murmured to himself with a heavy face, and examined the ice-cream. It looked intact. He then checked his watch. He had been asleep for 10 minutes. Was it enough time for ice-cream to melt? Because it sure wasn't enough to dream about football.

After practicing, the snake looked around and watched people. Was the spell easy or did she miss something. Everyone seemed to be doing the same as she had done, meaning she was on the right track. Also, many were already waiting for their ice-cream so she kinda was behind. NOT for long. Wand in hand, she stared down at the bowl before her and pointed the wand at it. What was the movement again?
Oh yeah! A circle.
She stood up!! Because she got excited and all, then drew a circle around the bowl uttering, "Conglacio," And nothing. Did the professor say anything about a beam shooting out of the wand or anything? Maybe Cassia didn't hear it? She sat down again and reached for her notebook. Nope. Nothing about that.
Also, she would've noticed such thing while watching the others. She had such an observing pair of eyes you know.
So she was good.
More than good even. Just 'cause.

YIKES......
Minerva could feel the tension radiating off of him and she knew why. Eyes dropping to the bowl of ice cream. Why did the ice cream have to be sooooo good so she could just have kept her promise that she wouldn't eat it anymore. Looking at the bowl only made her want to eat it more. She hated when she didn't know what to do. She just started chuckling at how odd it all was. No this wasn't awkward at all.. chuckling when your boyfriend is upset and thinks the ice cream is the bad guy.
Listening to him say the spell she smiled and leaned on the table a bit watching him. Distracted at the moment of nothing more than just listening to him.
oh.. umm question.. right.. was what right? Oh the words.. "Yes that sounded right." Now it was her turn she turned back to her notes and looked at the word. Con - glay - see - oh..... Con - glay - see - oh. Conglacio, right?" She was saying it correctly wasn't she. At least she thought she was. Pulling her wand from it's holster she checked her notes again. "Looks like we just circle it over the ice cream, right?" She looked back at Ethan to see if she had wrote it write. She was kind of busy eating the ice cream that she could have missed a step.
Queen of Typos | The OTHER OTHER Roro | WICKED is Good
So she had successfully done the spell. Now what? The snake sat back in her seat and crossed her legs pushing her seat a bit further from the desk. Time to wait and see if her spell worked or not. She surely wasn't going to sit and watch the bowl. It'd be totally pointless since she wouldn't be able to tell if it was melting or not! Totally pointless. Better do something else and then check after a while.
But what to do? Eat ice-cream? She didn't feel like it.
Instead, the fourth-year retrieved her notebook and flipped through the pages until she got to a blank page. Reaching for her quill she started making random doodles at the edge of the page. She always passed her time doing this. Even in class when professor were talking a lot and she would not know what to write down. It was fun.
While scribbling down, her eyes wandered around the class. She saw the Hufflepuff, first-year, Forrester. Did he really fall asleep. Maybe she should've considered taking a nap. But she could promise to wake up. Grinning smirking at the kid, Cassia mouthed 'good morning' to him followed with a wink. Hehehe.
Kids were fun.
She liked them.

Still Kat didn't understand the importance of the whole ice cream thing. She was aware that was the only thing that was quite edible and quite a lot in terms of quantity at Hogwarts... but even their Charms professor has inherited the same obsession for ice cream. It was really suspicious and stuff so Kat was there thinking of a lot of things. Thoughts and stuff, you know.
Right... back to the charm they were learning. Conglacio. No wand at first, because that was what the whole practicing thing was all about anyway. "Con-glay-see-oh..." she syllabicated. Well... that was too easy. "Conglacio. Con-glay-see-oh." Yeah yeah. She could do that.
And to practice the circular hand movement or not? No. Too simple.

Sarah often got 'freeze burn' on her teeth. It was an aweful feeling. She often prefered ice cream that was melting as other wise it hurt her teeth. But Glacius would just make it a block of ice, that would not help her

"Now, let's talk about how this charm works. What you will do is; take your wand, say the incantation, and circle your wand around the object you wish to stay cold." Ivy demonstrated as she spoke, drawing a circle around the bowl of ice cream on the cart in front of her. "The charm will identify the current temperature of the food of object and keep it at that exact temperature until you lift the charm or eat it! Easy as pie!" Ohhh, pie sounded good, too...
Ivy clapped her hands together. "So, here's what I want you to do: Practice saying the incantation without your wand. You can do it with a friend to make sure you've got it right. Then, use the charm on your bowl of ice cream. You won't know if it worked for at least five or ten minutes when you'll see if it has started to melt or not. Get to it! And come get some more ice cream while you're waitiiiiiiing!!!"
OOC: Take 4 posts to do this. One to practice the incantation, one to do the spell, one to wait a few minutes and eat ice cream(or socialize?) (heheh), and another to make sure your ice cream is still frozen. You have about... 36 hours to do this. It's a pretty easy assignment, but let me know if you need more time. Don't be afraid to ask questions. It's late; I could be not making sense at all.
Sarah watched at the teacher demonstrated. This was clever. She could wait for the icecream to start to melt and then do the tempreture thing. That way she will have the melting tempreture so it won't shock her teeth. First she had to practice the wand movement. It was easy, she just circled the bowl with her wand. Easy, yet that was always the easy one.. now the incantation

Theo didn't feel like he needed to practice for much longer on this one. He'd definitely noticed how much he had improved with pronunciations and wand movements this term, and just in time for the OWLs next year, too! The Slytherin pulled out his wand with his left hand, and flexed his right hand a bit before he held it properly.
He practiced the circular movement for a moment, and then nodded.
Not too difficult at allllllllll....
"Conglacio!" Circle, circle.
Theo lowered his wand and examined his ice cream closely.... err... had it worked? He didn't know, eh, just wait it out.

"Looks like we just circle it over the ice cream, right?" She looked back at Ethan to see if she had wrote it write. She was kind of busy eating the ice cream that she could have missed a step.
Was she laughing? Ethan turned from his notes to look at Minerva curiously. He wasn't sure what all was so funny right now, but he supposed that was the ice cream talking.. er, laughing. Though it didn't really matter much now because she was watching him almost dreamily.. which.. he liked.. and it almost distracted him from the ice cream. If only it wasn't right smack in front of his face..
Giving her a small smile, he watched her as she pronounced the incantation. "Sounds good to me," he nodded and gave a little shrug. She seemed to have the words down.. Would the spell work as easily? He guessed it was about time they found out.. too bad it had to be the dumb ice cream they were working with though. "Um, I think so.." he said in regards to her question as he looked down at his notes and pulled out his wand.
"Yes.. just circle it over the bowl," he said, still trying to manage a smile at her as he looked back up. "Alright.. let's see if this works.." Ethan waved his wand in a circle over his bowl of ice cream while commanding, "Conglacio." He peered at it distastefully for a moment, wondering if the spell worked. He supposed he'd have to wait to really see.. but he was not taste-testing it.
"I guess that's it," he said with a shrug, turning back to Minerva. "Seems easy enough.. Give it a go?" He turned to her a bit more fully to watch her attempt.

He knew they had to wait for a while before they could see if it had worked, but Theo had this strange feeling that it HADN'T worked for him at all. After a few moments of glaring at his ice cream for one tiny dribble, Theo got bored of that and leaned back against his chair, twirling his wand between his fingers.
He liked the final lessons of each of the classes.
It meant one thing: SUMMER WAS COMING.
Theo looked over to see how his classmates were doing, and a lot of them looked just as bored as he did, with the whole waiting thing. Hopefully a few of those guys did the spell wrong. It would make the embarrassment less if he had. The Slytherin spotted his partner in crime, Cassia, so he smiled at her.
Meanwhile... not much was happening on the ice cream front.

Conglacio. It was even spelt a bit complicated "con-clay-see-oh" What was with her alwas getting it wrong? "com-clay-see-oh". This mouth of her was not really cooperating. She tried over and over again. Finally she had it, "con-clay-see-oh,con-clay-see-oh, Conglacio".
So now that she had the incantation she had to do
the spell. She looked at her pile... because of the mixture she did not want it to melt.
She drew her wand in a circle around her icecream, "Conglacio" she said. It was nicer when there was colourful light when a spell was successful.

It was really fun to sit doing nothing but doodling and watch the rest of the students. Really fun. And it made her wonder how come she didn't always do this? And why was she doing this now again? OH! The ice-cream and the spell and all that. Man, she really did forget about it. She checked her watch to find out that ten minutes have passed. The page was now full of doodles. Totally an art piece. See, her artsy features surfaced during lessons. The snake closed the notebook with a proud face and pushed it aside.
Now to go back to the matter at hand. The ice cream bowl.
Cassia turned her attention back to the bowl. And it looked the same. Which was good. Because it wasn't liquid meaning it didn't melt. The blond wrapped her hands around the base of the bowl and felt the coldness. Awesome. Just awesome.
With a proud nod, she sat back again and crossed her legs. Anything else?
And hi there Theo, Cassia grinned at him.

Snoooooooore....
Theo's eyes were getting heavy with just sitting here doing nothing, so he pulled out his notebook to start doodling. He skipped past a page that was full of love hearts with 'Dora + Theo' written everywhere... because THAT kinda stuff could not be seen by anyone else. AHEM - on to a lovely clean page. Theo drew about six faces, all with different expressions on them, ranging from happy, sad, angry, annoyed, surprised, and hungry.... The last one kinda looked like the second one, though.
But that soon got boring, too. JEEZ, it must have been at least 8.7 minutes by now.
Theo peered closely at his ice cream and it... it... WAS THAT A DRIBBLE? Theo poked out his little finger and scooped up the little dribble SO casually, then popped the finger into his mouth.
Nothing to see here.
Anyway, he figured that the spell hadn't worked, so he did it again, with FEELING, since it looked like another dribble was gonna drop any second. "Conglacio!" Ciiiiiiiircle, circle. And the dribble stopped in it's tracks.
BOOM.
