Dylan was still eyeing the ice cream with a less than favorable look on his face. Ugh...Even the smell of it...made his stomach roll with discomfort. He'd liked ice cream well enough back in the day...but because he'd been subjected to so much of it...Well, he was extremely wary and disgusted. That was all.

...and about Glacius...

"That spell might be...too extreme for just keeping ice cream frozen. Also, I've heard it being used to freeze water solid enough so that people can walk on it."...which indicated a rather powerful charm..."If you used it on this ice cream...You might not be able to eat it for...a really long time...as it might just turn into a big chunk of ice."

Shrug. That was HIS opinion, anyway.

Ella casually stuck her finger into her bowl, scooping out a bit of ice cream and eating it before BEAMING! MMMMMMMMMMMMM! It was so delicious and she could just SING because this was the best class ever and she was extremely happy, okay? EXTREMELY!

Ohhhh! They were talking charms, now? The blonde listened and bounced and continued to glance down at her bowl occasionally in case any of her classmates were trying to ice cream-nap her frozen treat. That wasn't happening. No way, jose.

As for the glacius, Ella nodded excitedly at what Tobias said and her own hand shot up when he was finished. "Yeah, what Tobias said!" BEAMS for the first year and a thumbs up too cause GOOD ANSWER, ICKLE! "The spell would probably make the ice cream frozen and then you couldn't use a spoon and you'd need to just lick it like a Popsicle but it's not a popsicle, it's ice cream and you're meant to eat it when it's cold, not frozen solid!" Breatheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. BEAM!

Cat was contemplating ice cream and pretty much staring at her bowl until everyone had returned to their seats and the professor asked a question. A super easy question, too. Everyone seemed to be on the same thought as she was, "Because it'll just freeze it all up, so it'll be cold, sure, but super frozen and more like an ice cream popsicle than anything else."

That sounded promising, though. She wouldn't mind ice cream popsicles. Or cupcake ones. Ooooh.

Anya nearly was bouncing out of her seat because of ice cream related reasons.

"BECAUSE!" she started excited. "Nobody in their right mind wouldn't eat ice cream right away. So. No freezing necessary."

Wait. ... what was the question again? This ice cream was literally way too good to pay attention to anything else.

Glacius. Hmm. Penelope was pretty sure she knew this spell. Maybe used it a couple times? Not that she could really remember them if she had since it wasn't something she often used. But she was at least sure she knew of it. Why wouldn't they use that one?

Her hand was up. "Doesn't Glacius more just...turn something into ice and not just keep something cold or anything like that? I mean, ice IS cold, but we don't want our ice cream to be ice because then it's just...ice, not ice cream. It's not really the same thing." That was what she thought, at least.

Lex plopped down in her seat again, practically feeding off of the positive energy of the Professor, or maybe it was the all the ice-cream, she didn't know but she couldn't stop grinning either. This was all too perfect and it would solve that problem she and Lottie had with summer approaching and their ice-cream melting faster. This class couldn't have come at a better time!

Glacius. She'd heard of it before and had a general idea as to what it did but she'd never given it much thought before today.

"Professor Kitty seems to have the right idea here." While she spoke, her eyes were on her ice-cream. She was trying to think of a sophisticated way of sticking her face in it without it being too much of a problem. "If we used that spell we'd basically have a chunk of ice and could very well end up chipping our teeth or breaking our face if we tried sticking it in it. Ice-cream isn't meant to hurt and we need our teeth on account of people saying we can't live solely off of ice-cream." Rubbish really but whatever, they could think what they wanted.

She took a lick of the top part of her ice-cream...then another...and another. Learning probably wouldn't happen if this continued but she didn't care.

But she wasn't going to be HAPPY ABOUT IT. No SIR. Zahra crossed her arms, sat back with a pout, and WHO EVEN CARED PROFESSOR? WHO CARES? Mikey wouldn't let her eat free delicious ICE CREAM. So it didn't even MATTER how to keep it frozen. Didn't. Even. Matter.

It was pretty obvious why you would not use Glacius. Nobody would want frozen ice cream. Especially if there was stuff in the ice cream. Don't want to break your teeth.

" Because you don't want a frozen block of ice cream."

Nigel pushed the ice cream to the corner of his desk thinking where they going to be using Glacius this lesson.

Hmm....so they were learning about the charm Glacius. Kace had no idea what this spell would do. But he thought the task had to do something with ice cream. But then the professor said it wouldn't work with ice cream. He wondered why. He thought about it and said,

"OH OH Professor i think if you use this charm you could get this MASSIVE brain freeze! It could probably freeze your brain!" he said with wide eyes.He was so excited this lesson had to deal with Ice cream. He couldn't contain his excitement.

Sky was absolutely glaring at both her ice cream and the people that were losing their minds at it. Plus, she the urge to just jump up and hug Dylan for his stupid diet idea now. Because she wasn't particularly fond of the idea of losing all sense of dignity over a frozen treat. Knox's question almost got an eyeroll out of her, since the answer was so obvious. "Since it's basically a frozen liquid already, the Glacius charm would over freeze it and turn it into a block of ice. Plus, it would end up frozen to the bowl." And now she was getting ideas........

His eyes went heavenward at her antics. While he didn't like to see her sad. Ever. He was not going to budge on this. He would rather her sad and probably mad at him then have something bad happen to her.

"You can pull as many faces as you like Z. But you'll thank me later. Unless he was wrong about this, but he didn't think he was.

He gave her a nudge with his shoulder. "I promise to make it up to you." Actually he wished he hadn't promised that now. Merlin, only knew what she would get him to do.

Michael glanced towards the front. "The spell is probably too powerful for something like ice cream." Or something like that.

Marigold had never learned about Glacius but ICECREAMICECREAMICECREAM. She took a big gulp of the deliciousness and started answering.

"Professor, maybe Glacius makes the ice cream keep cold for only a little bit?" She thought a bit more. "No! Glacius sounds like glacier, so the ice cream would be frozen solid!"

She would not like that.

Asher thought for a moment, eyes locked on his giant bowl of ice cream. Deciding he had a suitable answer, he raised his hand "Professor, Glacius would freeze it solid. Not allowing your spoon to penetrated it. Without a spoon, you would try to lick it and your tongue would stick to it. No one wants their tongue to be frozen to a giant, rock hard block of ice cream."

Yup, that's what he thought. Asher had experienced his lips getting a little stuck on a Popsicle, he didn't even want to think about his poor little tongue stuck to a brick of ice cream. No, that charm would not be good.

So.... there were Gryffindors. They were Gryffindoring. West tried to ignore it and he put his hand up.

"You couldn't use Glacius because freezer burn makes food taste like crap. And that includes ice cream." So there was a good reason, yes? Yes.

The teacher was now singing to them. Now why did the abnormal behavior of Professor Knox kick in to Wade's head? The smell of the ice cream was threatening to be eaten in his hands. Oh, and through her singing the question, he thought of how to answer before raising his hand.

"Well, Glacius is good for making ice and keeping it cold.. But since we're dealing with ice cream, it won't be creamy and delicious. We want to have cool ice cream, and not just cool ice." The thought of the creamy goodness in the Ice cream made Wade beam.

Minerva looked at her ice cream.. She thought this was just the greatest class this term and she was finally going to learn the charm that people were using to make it colder.. yeah.. it was going to be AWESOME!! Plus she got enough ice cream that it would be alright to eat some now, right? Scooping a little on her finger Minerva put it in her mouth. Yum.. so good...


Barely listening to Professor Knox she when she asked the question, Min had to really try to come up with an answer. Putting up her hand, "Professor with the spell it conjures ice or freezes thing. So unless you want to use the ice cream as a weapon to throw at someone you wouldn't want the precious ice cream to be a block that you couldn't enjoy." Yep that would not be good to use the ice cream as a weapon, because you wouldn't be able to eat it.

Could he eat it? Jory desperately wanted to scoop some of the ice cream and enjoy the delicious taste. But that would come later, right? Surely Professor ivy would let them eat it at least after they had completed the lesson. Anyway, to the question at hand.

The seventh year raised his hand. "Glacius allows us to freeze stuff,'' he began, eyeing the ice cream before him. "So we won't want to use it on the ice cream because it would just be frozen solid.'' And who can eat ice cream like that?

Glacius.. Ariana poked at her ice cream with her spoon, maybe hoping to find something in it.. something making people crazy, as she thought about it before raising her hand "Professor, that spell is capable of freezing several inches of water solid within seconds, so if you were to use it on ice cream in a bowl no doubt it would freeze the ice cream to a rock and possibly the bowl and whatever surface that is on, right?" and having a frozen bowl and desk or counter wasn't cool. "Naturally the spell is just too powerful for a simple bowl of ice cream and better suited for a larger area of water or something... like a lake." or river.. a pool even.. she was rambling..

Ice cream ice cream ice cream. Mo finished filling a few bowls with every flavor that looked remotely interesting and a few that didn't before heading back to his seat. He may or may not have licked his spoon while he waited. Maybe.

The ice cream was full on distracting, and Mo wanted to eat it, and why was Foxy Knoxy asking him questions? Or asking all of them, really... he blinked at the professor and sort of twitched in her direction. She was so pretty too. And not snogging Flamsteed.

"Ice cream is churned to add air while it freezes, and we don't want it to lose its structural integrity by freezing solid." He knew about ice cream, okay?

That Minister's-kid-gone-point-loser looked EXCITED about ICE CREAM. Which made ALICE even MORE EXCITED. YEAH. Ignoring the stickiness on her hand, she offered the first year a high five back AND a fistpump, because multiple bowls was just the BEST IDEA EVER. Could she get like five more? She wanted like FIVE MORE BOWLS OKAY? OKAY?

OKAY.

But before she could get any, the professor was asking a question. Sad. But also not sad, because it was a question about ICE CREAM. "WELL, Professor," she started loudly, raising her hand and WAVING IT IN THE AIR ALL EXCITED-LIKE BECAUSE SHE COULD DO THAT, "people know the spell Glacius for freezing things, but it actually conjures ice, and I don't want ice on my ice cream, I just want ice cream on my ice cream because it's ICE CREAM and is REALLY AWESOME by itself, don't you think?" DID she?

"I think you think, because if you didn't properly appreciate it, you wouldn't have had a WHOLE LESSON dedicated to it, which makes you just as AWESOME as ICE CREAM, professor. Or maybe just a little less awesome, because ice cream is REALLY AWESOME and hard to beat." Breaaaathe.

She wasn't even bothered by the unusual smiley face on the board. In fact, it made her smile. Whether it was charmed to do so, or if it had just been a natural reaction, Eliza did not know nor care. She was in a great mood regardless and the smiley face just made things so much fun! Summer was coming, she could feel it in her bones. And summer meant smiley faces and ice cream and water parks and... Oh, there's Professor Knox now! Sure the woman had been a bit crabby before but that was okay because Eliza was in a forgiving mood. Which come to think of it, she was usually in for most people. Anyway she was sure that...Wait, what? We....we get ice cream?!!?! SCORE!!! You didn't have to tell her twice.

Shooting up from her seat, the fourteen year old raced to the line to get a bowl. Once collected, she smiled broadly at the teacher and said after one big delicious spoonful, "Thank you SO much Professor Knox! This is just what I was wanting!!" Really though, how did she know that? No matter. She began gobbling it up as she sat in her seat.



Another big bite went into her mouth and she closed her eyes in awe of the sugary substance as it slid down her throat. She was really beginning to love the way that felt. Warm mouth, cold ice cream, cold throat, cold belly....belly warms up, throat warms up, mouth warms up...Repeat to make them all cold again. It was cool. Or cooling. She chuckled to herself, elated.

"Professor it's true that Glacius can turn water into solid ice - so if we cast it on this amaaaazingly wonderful ice cream, it would get all stiff and shiny and tough like a mirror or glass or rock something and although it would be kind of cool to have a mirror made of ice cream, cause it would come in so many different colors you know?-well, anyway, it wouldn't be edible because we'd all break our teeth off and I don't even like biting into soft ice cream cause it hurts but, so, yeah, really what would the point be? Besides neato interior decorating." She took another bite and swung her dangling feet from her chair because she couldn't sit still as she was hyper hyper hyper.

Ivy demonstrated as she spoke, drawing a circle around the bowl of ice cream on the cart in front of her. "The charm will identify the current temperature of the food of object and keep it at that exact temperature until you lift the charm or eat it! Easy as pie!" Ohhh, pie sounded good, too...

Ivy clapped her hands together. "So, here's what I want you to do: Practice saying the incantation without your wand. You can do it with a friend to make sure you've got it right. Then, use the charm on your bowl of ice cream. You won't know if it worked for at least five or ten minutes when you'll see if it has started to melt or not. Get to it! And come get some more ice cream while you're waitiiiiiiing!!!"


OOC: Take 4 posts to do this. One to practice the incantation, one to do the spell, one to wait a few minutes and eat ice cream(or socialize?) (heheh), and another to make sure your ice cream is still frozen. You have about... 36 hours to do this. It's a pretty easy assignment, but let me know if you need more time. Don't be afraid to ask questions. It's late; I could be not making sense at all.

Still with a poker face, Sophie pulled out her wand and started practising the wand movement.

Ohwait, no wands, the professor said. Sophie put her wand down on the desk and eyed some of her classmates suspiciously. Strange people were strange. And that included professor Knox.

The Hufflepuff mouthed the incantation a few times, not really paying full attention to watch she was doing.

"....." Okay. Who was this? Not Professor Knox. She had been BODYSNATCHED. Clearly. Or well, she'd eaten way too much of that ice cream. Yeahhh. At least they were learning a charm? One that might be useful for something other than ice cream?

So.

He'd start with practicing. And eyeing people. Especially Alice... she was acting weird now too. Conglacio.

"Con-glay-see-oh." West enunciated. "Conglacio." He said again. He could do that. Easy one to say. Felt natural and not weird like some incantations.

"Conglacio." He repeated, still looking around and eyeing up his classmates.

He had questions already, but West kept them to himself for now.

Dylan was disturbed by this particular Professor Knox...She wasn't anything like the one who'd taught them cleaning charms months before. You know, the one who'd eyed him with distrust and suspicion a bunch. The Captain took a moment to reminisce...This chick was a phony, cheap imitation of the real thing...Where was the sarcasm? The snark? She was still hot or whatever...but where was the 'tude?

How depressing...

Anyway...New charm...Dylan was down for learning. He did have NEWTs this term...So, he'd be learning ALL THE THINGS. Even if that meant forcing himself...

"Con...glay...see...oh....Con.glay.see.oh...Congla cio." The Slytherin allowed his mouth and lips to adjust...It was easy enough to say, really. Nothing too outlandish or difficult. The vowel sounds weren't abnormal. Conglacio...conglacio...conglacio...conglacio...
