Another chilly Winter day left the Charms room a bit cool and drafty, but that's the way Ivy liked it. It made sure the students stayed awake and alert, rather than warm and cozy and sleepy.
The classroom looks quite different than normal today. The desks and chairs are gone. Instead, almost two dozen single doorways placed around the room in several rows. The professor is standing at the front of the room with her own doorway just a few feet away from her desk. On the chalkboard is a simple message:
"Find a partner and pick a door.
Quietly."
Class has now officially started! Please do not RP your students coming into class late, just RP them as thought they've been there all along. Don't want to lose points, now do ya!
Mika snorted when Kaiden said to use an alarm system. “Because electronics don’t always work around magic – they’ll go all wonky” she nodded. “have you ever wondered why there are no computers in wizarding schools?” She asked smiling a bit at her friend.
He was adorably naïve yeah? When it came to the wizarding world. She smiled, “after class we should head to the library and look it up” she nodded. “And you know we’d actually have to call the Ministry of Magic’s Department of Magical Law Enforcement – Aurors instead of police” she nodded.
When he had finished casting the spell she gulped. “Alright heading in” she nodded and opened the door.
She winced, blinked, and put her hands on her ears. Eyes watering from the pain of it. “SHUT IT OFF” she practically yelled to him. “please” she couldn’t even hear herself over the din in her mind.
Always with the laugh. He frowned. "uh, no. I just figured we didn't have time for them or something. That and everything is just old."
"I um, sure." he said with a nod. He's never had anyone actually volunteer to help him learn these things. They just usually told him stuff, and didn't explain. Or rather, got all angry when he asked questions and didn't understand. And this wasn't just any friend... this was Miks, and saying yes meant more time with her. "Not sure why you would call them..."
It worked! On the first try, it worked!! That never happened! Grinning, Kaiden nodded. Sure thing. "Finite Incantatem." he said pointing his wand at the door, causing it to stop. "IT worked!" he beamed at his friend.

Merlin the alarm is annoying. Nigel walked in a circle and the alarm still sounded the same.. Nigel smirk then said. "Well it looks like it worked. Can you turn it off now?
Now what were they suppose to do?
Awesome. West now had things he wanted to try to perfect it though. He happily turned his attention to the door. "Finite Incantatum." He pointed his wand and the alarm stopped suddenly, thankfully.
"That was pretty cool. I wanna try it on some different kinds of things too." West commented, all sorts of questions going through his head about the possibilities.
So now they had to wait for more instructions yeah?

The young Claw looked tentatively up at the upperclass before saying “Cover your ears.” So confident she was it would work innit? Aquila set her hand on the doorknob and pushed it open—
WHOOOOOOOOOONG!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOONNGGG!!!
Aquila quickly pull the door shut, her face stretched in shock, ears ringing painfully from the noise “IT WORKS.” She said, not realizing then that she was talking a whole lot louder than she used to.
When her ears has stopped ringing she took out her wand and stepped beside where Kendall stood. She waited for the older Claw to ready the door, biting her upperlip in sheer concentration of what she had to do. When the door was ready Aquila stepped forward and traced the door’s outline with her wand, just as Kendall did “Intrudus Concutio” she uttered, as close to how she heard Kendall say it. She stepped back and looked at the upperclassman. “See if I got it to work?” she murmured shrugging timidly.
At least Aquila didn’t seem too worried about testing the charm. Kendall still wasn’t entirely sure if she wanted it to work or if she wanted to fail at casting a charm spectacularly. If it meant she got to keep her hearing, she was okay at failing. Unfortunately, it appeared she hadn’t, as Aquila had opened the door to an ear-piercing siren-like noise. It was as if she was stuck on the docks when the fog was rolling in, unable to get away from the sound, but she instinctively had clapped her hands over her ears. Somehow managing to keep hold of her wand, and even though that had dulled the sound somewhat, she still heard the louder-than-normal question from the little blonde. “FINITE INCANTATEM,” she finally cast, lowering her hands long enough to point her wand at the offending noisy door and blinking a few times as the siren ceased. First she needed to get her hearing back to normal, and then she could try speaking.
“I can see that,” she finally said, shaking her head slightly just to make sure that the ringing had stopped. “Maybe the professor should have provided earmuffs,” she continued, joking a little. It would have kept them from dealing with all the ringing and yelling that resulted from successfully casting the spell, at least. She thought they would have, anyway, but obviously they weren’t about to get the chance to test it unless she found something to transfigure into some earmuffs. Therefore, they’d just have to suffer, as there was still at least one more attempt to get to before hopefully they’d be safe from more eardrum damage. It hadn’t appeared that her partner was too worried about any of it, and she let herself sigh slightly as her fellow Claw had stepped up to cast the charm. It seemed like the pronunciation practice had worked, and she stepped forward again at the murmured question, giving her a nod. Here goes…, she thought, reaching out and grasping the knob before cracking the door open only the tiniest sliver. Maybe that wouldn’t trigger…
”WEEEEEEEEEOO WWWEEEEEEOOO WEEEEEEEEEOO…”
Nope. Worked like it was supposed to, and there went her hands over her ears again.

Laura really wanted some ice-cream now, but well she would wait anyway they had to focus on the task which was hard.
Laura was sort of daydream a bit and so only sort of heard Minnie. "It's Icetrudus concutcream?" Laura was sure it was something like that but she wasn't sure, "Or something along those lines right?"
Well, the boy found a partner, which left Laura partnerless. She was about to tell her to become a group of three with another pair, but a familiar Hufflepuff showed up and took care of it. "Wonderful. Thank you, Miss Wheatborn."
Ivy was about to continue walking when she heard the two Hufflepuffs start talking about the forbidden... ice cream. What was with these kids? Had they not heard her say she would give extra homework to those who talked about ice cream again? It was getting ridiculous.
"You two, stop it with the ice cream chatter. I want a four paragraph essay from each of you about vegetables. Your favorite kinds, the benefits of eating them, the benefits of not. Four. Paragraphs." Ivy glared at them for a minute before walking back up to the front of the class.
Most of the students seemed to be wrapping up, and class was coming to an end. "Finish up quickly. I will post the homework on the notice board, so look out for it. Class dismissed."
OOC: Sorry for the short lesson! You'll have about 10 hours to finish this task before I close this thread. The homework is posted HERE.

Minerva had finished practicing. Yes she was done doing all the practicing, especially since she knew she was doing it correctly and Laura was trying to make her say ice cream with it. She giggled again thinking about it. Straightening up she tried to be serious.
Still chuckling a bit though she turned to Laura, "Alright I'm doing it to this door. Be ready to walk through it." She was pretty confident she could do the spell, but she hoped her focus was there enough. Smiling widely, because why wouldn't she the world was wonderful and everything went the way she wanted it to.
Pointing her wand at the door she traced the frame, Intrudus Concutio Once the spell was cast she looked at Laura, "Alright Laura, walk through it, but hold your ears, because the alarm should go off. Isn't this like the coolest spell... I had actually seen my cousin use it a few times."
Oh but.. what was this.. Professor Knox didn't like the ice cream talk, well maybe she just needed some ice cream to help her like it more. Minerva started grinning, a paper... four paragraphs. Well that was just awesome. Minerva loved homework and practice so this was just another great way to do it. [b] "Yes Ma'am and when would you like this done by? Today.. tomorrow? She would be on it.
but wait....Class was over, but Laura didn't walk through her door yet.

"Well I guess we will not get to know if the alarm is going to go off or not. OH well we tried, sorry you didn't get to do your spell at all. Maybe we could practice in the dorm room, what do you think?"

Nope. Worked like it was supposed to, and there went her hands over her ears again.
Whoah Whatanoise!
Aquila’s hands flew over her ears the instant the door started blaring out loud. It didn’t even seem to her that Kendall even opened the door before it went off, but it was likely because she didn’t bother to peer any closer with the noise. As painful loud as it was—she was glad it did work though, because it meant her spells work and if her spells work then she is on her way to be quite the talented sorceress witch.
Oh and look at how Kendall made the noise stop from earlier “Uhm uhm let me tryyy....” she said bouncing on the balls of her feet. She held her wand aloft, pretty much how Kendall did hers and uttered “Finite Incantatem.” The volume lessened but only a bit, and suddenly this young Claw wasn’t that confident as she was a few seconds ago “Finite Incantatem!” she uttered again, a bit panicky this time, the volume decreasing only minimally. She had to go through this painful bit by painful bit until the noise was low enough for them to talk over. “I guess I still need to work on that spell.” She peered up at Kendall sheepishly

"But i am glad we both got the hang of it, you know for being firsties and all. It is actually a relief that i am not the only first year in the room. Because usually when i cast a spell in the front of the older students, i get pressured more."
"Yeah. I'm glad I'm getting to know you, too," said Marigold, grinning at Kace. "Plus, I think you were really supportive. Thanks!"
...Was Alice not going to turn the door off.....
she looked over at the lion then back to the door "Finite Incantatum" Oh thank you alice for turning off your alarm... NOT
goodness. Next she supposed she should try to see if she could even reach the top of the door you know with her being all super short and junk so going over to the door she simply acted as if she were practicing her steady hand going up the side of the door frame and up up uppppp onto her tippy toes to reach the top of it with her wand just barely but enough she supposed and back down again...

Oh, okay. She was officially being ignored by her boyfriend. Or maybe he'd gone completely deaf? She couldn't tell. He wasn't speaking. Could she pull his tongue out just to let him talk? Possibly. Although, she wasn't sure Professor Knox would be happy.
So she decided against it and turned back to their door instead. The Noisemaker, she'd call it. They could name their doors, yea?
'Intrudus Concutio.. Intrudus Concutio.. Intrudus Concutio' yeah she could totally do this, there wasn't any tricky want movements that would really make this difficult just a funny spell which Ariana found Amusing to say slowly '"in-TROOO-duss con-COOo-sheeee-oh' .giggle. this was funny Anyway back to business.
"ahem." she was clearing her throat no need to bather Alice, she wasn't dieing or anything.. she gave a side glance over to her again, still staring off shrugging she went back to her door and "Intrudus Concutio" and she began tracing the outline of her door slowly as so that she got all of it and didn't send the spell going haywire over the room or something, that'd be embarrassing and Up the door frame her hand went up up up and onto her tip-toes and oveeeerrrr. Reach, Logan, Reach, annnd Down to the floor of the frame. well done.
"Go on then, walk through Alice." she said motioning the girl to the door. go on.

"Well I guess we will not get to know if the alarm is going to go off or not. OH well we tried, sorry you didn't get to do your spell at all. Maybe we could practice in the dorm room, what do you think?"
Laura looked at Minnie and smiled. "Na this isn't the coolest spell, because the Unlocking Charm is, you see before they invented a counter charm, you could do anything with that." Laura giggled. "This man though decided that every-time he got caught to give the spell out to someone in return for his freedom and so loads of people knew the spell." Laura smiled now that is awesome, "Just like Veg ice-cream." Laura thought it would be awesome to write about that, even if it wasn't awesome.
This was going to be awesome, "Professor like Minnie said, when do you want it?" As Minnie said it was going to be awesome writing up her favorite things she couldn't wait.
Laura smiled at Minnie. "Sure I'd love the have a go in the dorm room, I so was looking forwards to going through the door but we unfortunately run out of time." Laura couldn't wait to go and try.

Now to just get the spell to work right. Hopefully it would cooperate and stuff. Penelope didn't want to be stuck failing, especially if Theo happened to get it to work just fine.
...Although that probably wouldn't happen if the incantation wasn't right.
"It's Concutio, I think," she pointed out. "Intrudus Concutio." She said them together mostly for her benefit to make sure it was right. After repeating it over and over and over, it kinda developed a flow in her head, so Intrudus Concutus didn't sound right to her. But...she'd been wrong many times before, so...
"I'll try it out first." Also to make sure. Any number of things could go wrong if she was wrong, and even if she was right, she wasn't guaranteed to get the spell to work first time trying it out, but might as well give it a shot. Lots of people were already practicing on the actual door anyway, so they could start that part too.
"Intrudus Concutio," she said slowly, guiding her wand over the outline of the door until she had gone over the whole thing. Then she stepped to the side. "Wonder if it worked..." Was having someone go through the only way to tell?
Oookay, good. Theo was glad that she was trying it first, because that gave him extra time to go over the spell in his head. He had to avoid all possibilities of embarrassing himself in front of the whole class, and Penelope. He didn't know Penelope well enough to look like an idiot in front of, if that made sense. Theo just nodded and watched her have a go.
Well, she seemed confident enough. He very slowly took a step forward and opened up the door. It made him jump out of his socks, but the alarm sounded like everyone else's had done.
"Nice one."
Was he supposed to turn it off? Eeeeep... pressure, much? Theo pulled out his wand and pointed it to the door. "Finite.. Incantatum." He whispered, but it was still sounding very loudly. "Finite Incantatum." And after a bit of confidence with it, the noise wore off and now it was his turn. "Okay, I'll have a go now." He said to Penelope with a slow nod. Yes, he was stalling.
Intrudus Concutio...... In-tru-dus Con-cut-io.
"Intrudus Concutio." He said it calmly, then traced his wand around the shape of the door, much like Penelope had just done. Nothing appeared to have blown up or anything, so he guessed it was just up to Penelope to see if it worked. He gave her a shrug and a nod.

Whoa, her spell had worked?! Awesome! Even though the alarm was obnoxious, she grinned. Maybe she ought to be interested in learning spells more often if it made her success with them better. If only the professors would teach those spells more often...but that was a suggestion for another day.
So now it was Theo's turn, and he even shut off her alarm to do it. "Nice." He'd done it with just two tries, so that was pretty awesome.
And then he cast the Intruder Charm. Time to see if his had worked too, yeah? So she nodded and turned to walk through...
Sweet Merlin! That alarm sure was loud wasn't it?! "Good job!" She grinned at Theo, glad he'd been able to do it too.
But now to shut up the alarm. "Finite." Wait. There was another word he'd said too. In...incan....oh! "Finite incantatum!" There. Quiet. Much better. And now they were done and class was over, yeah? Awesome.

"Yeah. I'm glad I'm getting to know you, too," said Marigold, grinning at Kace. "Plus, I think you were really supportive. Thanks!"
"Oh you are welcome. Now i hope we remember how to do it for our homework." he said jokingly. Kace hoped he could remember. "Honestly i would ask if you wanna do it again but my ears could only take so much screeching. My ears are still recovering." he said as he patted his ears to make sure the sound was working. It was so no harm done.
Then he heard the class was dismissed. He turned to Marigold, "Well it was nice working with you. I hope we see each other around in other lessons and in the castle." he smiled and he was even bold enough to go hug her. "See you around!" and then he got his backpack and stuff.
He smiled to the professor, "Thanks for the lesson Professor!"
