Another chilly Winter day left the Charms room a bit cool and drafty, but that's the way Ivy liked it. It made sure the students stayed awake and alert, rather than warm and cozy and sleepy.
The classroom looks quite different than normal today. The desks and chairs are gone. Instead, almost two dozen single doorways placed around the room in several rows. The professor is standing at the front of the room with her own doorway just a few feet away from her desk. On the chalkboard is a simple message:
"Find a partner and pick a door.
Quietly."
Class has now officially started! Please do not RP your students coming into class late, just RP them as thought they've been there all along. Don't want to lose points, now do ya!
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Well....this room was something different... No desks. No chairs and most importantly, NO Icecream! But that didn't stop the Prefect from bouncing in to the classroom, Hyper like crazy again. "HIII EVERYONE" he cheered as he threw his hands up in the air. Though he was hyper his face told otherwise as it looked very tired. His eyes were slightly red and puffy from the lack of sleep because his mind and body wouldn't let him. He kept thinking about icecream and he kept having the urge to say that "ICECREEEAAAM IS THE BEST THING EVER!" to people. ....Had he just said that out loud again?!

Hop. Hop. Hop.
The whole time she did this her little present to the Professor remained undisturbed and her own present to herself was nice and snug in her tummy. Today was such a good day. Siiiigh. It had her humming, rather loudly too! Everyone should be humming. It passed the time quite nicely.
Oh LOOKIT! The Professor!!!! GRIN.
Lex noticed the doorways and the weird set up of the classroom but you know what??? She couldn't pay attention to those right now because the Professor lady was right up theeeere!! Alexa skipped up to the woman with the biggest grin ever and shoved a bowl of ice-cream toward her. "Hello Professor!!! I hope you've been having a good day! I brought you something!!" Seeeee? Right here! Over heeeere. ICE-CREAM! She wanted it right? If not...Lex wouldn't have minded having it herself. "Well, aren't you gonna take it???" BEEEAM.
Oooo! Partners! She already knew who she wanted to work with!!
Now back to the Professor and there was mooooore BEAMing.

"I hope you're having a great day, Professor Knox." Not really, no, we have no clue as to why that was said, all we know is that Lottie had a smile on her face and waved at Ivy Knox and everything. Professor Knox. Snort. She really wasn't a Professor, you know? But Lottie DID not feel like being corrected or...ooooh, why was Lex here with ice cream? And so close to the woman who wand-handled Felix?
Pick a partner and find a door? Okay!
"You're coming with me." She linked her arm with Lex's and proceeded to the BEST door ever. Their door.
Merlin's beard... How did one small human possess so much excitement? Ivy deadpanned as Alexa bounded into the classroom with a bowl of... ice cream. Ivy eyed it, arms crossed over her chest. She didn't want it. Erik had told her not to eat the ice cream, and she just so happened not to be the biggest fan of ice cream in the first place.
But that would be rude. And Ivy was not rude... all the time.
"Thank you," she sighed, taking the bowl with a rather forced, small smile. She gave a nod to the Hufflepuff, too. And once they were turned around and headed for a door, Ivy took out her wand and made the bowl of ice cream vanish into thin air.

Ah well, he was feeling too happy to care~
"Paaaaaaartneeeeer where aaaaare yooouuuu?"
Ivy nearly jumped when she heard the next student make quite the entrance. She glared at the Slytherin as he entered WAY too loudly.
"Lower your voice at once. Five points away from Slytherin for not reading the board." Shame on him.
As the students filtered in, Ivy nodded to them and returned their greetings. They didn't seem so glum and pesky this time around. Good news.
Once the long hand hit the twelve, Ivy flicked her wand and shut the door. "Welcome to class. Thank you for being on time and finding partners. If you don't have a partner yet, just hold tight and we'll find you one in a few minutes." Got it? Good. Moving on. Time for a class discussion!
"Now, as you have noticed, the classroom is set up quite differently than normal. Before we begin, let's get our brains working. What in the world do you think we might be learning with these doors today?" Hmm? Any ideas? Ivy waited and let students answer before she would move into the real lesson.

Sarah was cold, yet she found the air refreashing. She walked into charms and looked around. WHOAA! There were so many doors which was awesome. It just spoke of adventure! Sarah was busy examining the doors that it took time until she saw the notice. They needed partners? Sarah hated to have partners as that meant she had to look for them.
No, time like the present? "who would have me as their partner?" she asked. She felt bad for her partner as it always took a few tried before she got the incantation right. Actually, maybe it would have been better to have said it with more confidence. Perhaps people were scared... Sarah stopped herself, she was overthinking this. She just needed a partner

She needed to grab a partner. She noticed that the Slytherin prefect was also looking for a partner. So the two left overs would be together. Her mother sometimes made supper with left overs. "Can I be your partner?" she asked Daichi.
Meanhwhile back to the teacher. "Maybe we are practicing alahamore and colloportus?" she said after raising her hand. "or its a maze using the point me spell?"

Aquila glanced at the doors, what were they going to learn using those props. Or are they mere props? She raised her hand and replied “Uhm Professor will we be learning how to open and lock them with spells?” Should she attempt to say them? Probably not a good idea since she couldn’t even figure out how to pronounce them properly.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes

FIVE POINTS FROM SLYTHERIN?!
He didn't know why but instead of feeling ashamed and sad that he, as a Prefect had lost points, he began to smile. A bright smile from ear to ear as he looked at the Professor.
But he didn't want to smile! it was unnatural to do that when you just lost points! So with the use of his hands, the Slytherin tried to push the corner of his lips down, resulting in making a funny face. It was like the smile was stuck on is face. "Boaaard?" he repeated and turned his head to look at the blackboard he had only seen now. "Ooooh, hehe oops, sorry Professor" he giggled.
Hearing the first question, the seventh year who had been feeling hyperly happy the past few days shot his hand in to the air and waved it around to get the Professor's attention.
He totally knew this answer!
"Professor, we will learn how to unlock doors and then everyone gets a room where an icecream machine is and we will ALL make icecreams so that EVERYONE is happy! "
Again...what was wrong with him? He knew what he was saying but his words came out before he could hold them back...He would never say something like this, well, he would have in his earlier years but...this was not funny anymore and it scared him a little... Maybe a bowl of icecream would help...after this he was going to run to the great hall and grab some.
ICECREAAAM~!

Oh dooooooors! Distracted yes.
The cold classroom wasn't bothering Kendall. Curiosity about the lack of desks and the appearance of all the doors was definitely piquing her curiosity, however, and as Professor Knox had posed the question, she'd realized that she hadn't exactly found a partner yet. Actually, she'd completely forgotten that the instructions on the board had told them to find one, but as Aquila had answered the question tentatively, her head had snapped up and she'd realized the younger girl was standing alone. Easy. She just took a few sidesteps and then she was standing near the girl and a door. "I'll be your partner, Aquila", she whispered, before raising her hand.
"Alohomora and Colloportus? The spells to lock and unlock doors. Or maybe we'll be learning other variations of those spells?," she replied, her attention back to the professor without a pause. Either that, or they were playing some kind of game where the ones who picked the right door got a prize, but she didn't think this particular professor was one for playing games. She didn't like talking, obviously, and she didn't like warm classrooms.

See? Lottie did perfect with that greeting, no? It was all about the name. She had to put the 'Professor' part in front of it. No big deal.
Her arm was still linked with Lex. There was a minor detail poisonous Ivy Knox forgot. Or should explain soon. What were they to do after they've found their partners? Eh? Whatever, she was linking arms until this was explained.
And she shook her head at the perfectly healthy-looking bowl of ice cream being vanished for eternity. No fair. Others could've eaten it, you know?
BACK TO CLASS.
Lottie eyed the door in front of her and raised her hand quickly, "As long as they're not boggarts, I'm up for anything!"Clearly. That boggart had been terrifying. All its yellowness. Sigh.
Her real answer would be: "But since this is Charms...then probably Lock charms of the sort!" Nod, nod. BEAM! And she was totally agreeing with the Slytherin boy and the ice cream! Excited much?
Knowing that it would be cold in the castle, the young girl had put a extra warm school uniform on to protect her against the cold, and that was a good idea, noted Sonea while she stood in the classroom, besides the other students. It was really cold inside! But she was smart enough to not say anything about it, she had learned that this teacher didn’t liked it to be interrupted, especially now that she had seen what she had done to Daichi, this was really unnecessary and a lost for Slytherin!
The young girl sighed and looked around her, she saw a lot doors, and this time she had a idea what they would be practicing this lesson, if she was right, then she would learn a spell she WANTED to learn! But first, she needed a partner…
The young girl raised her hand and spoke, “I think that we are going to practice a spell to unlock doors and… I think that the spell was named Alohomora… And eh, professor, I still haven’t a partner” said the young girl and tried to not look unsure about that.
Laura looked around she hadn't got a partner yet, but surely she would find one eventually she raised her hand, "Professor are we learning how to make door shrink like in Alice and the wonderland?" Laura wasn't sure if there was a spell for doing that but it would be worth a try.

Poor Daichi. Five point loss. But Jory had to admit, he felt like his Slytherin friend and right now wanted to consume tons of ice cream and let everyone know about its goodness!
Jory, standing next to Alec and the chosen door, had been wondering the same thing. What would they be doing with these doors? He raised his hand. "Professor, are we going to be learning to lock and open the door using magic?'' Obviously magic. Duh. But Jory just felt like adding the last part.
West had everything he expected to need in his bag and he went into the class. Charms was so much better now he reckoned, so of course he was in a good mood going in. He greeted the professor and then looked around.
Doors.
And the board said finding partners?
"I'll be your partner, Nigel." Grin. "No broken arm though okay?"
No Bellaire so, he was PROBABLY safe.
"Awesome" Nigel said smiling. "And it appears i might need both arms for whatever we are doing today".Now he had a partner.
"You want to use this door?". Nigel said pointing to the door behind him. It was the closest door to them and it appeared class was going to start really soon.

And of course Professor Know starts class and deducts points from slytherin. The Prefect was being a bit loud. But he was looking for a partner and ice cream. Nigel could not blame him. Ice cream is awesome.
"Lock Charms?" It was the most obvious choice. Though Nigel did not understand why they would be using partners for that though.

After finding a seat, she glanced and actually read the board. Partners? Merlin. Jo preferred working alone but she would always follow the Professor's directions.
Well this should be interesting.....
The blonde's brown eyes glanced around the room to see if anyone was willing to partner up with her.
Jo kept on looking when she saw a Hufflepuff girl (Ella) who looked about her age who had asked if anyone needed a partner. Finding a partner would be a great way to get to know someone right? Well, that's what all her cousins told her. Be nice. Make friends.
Deciding to be more outgoing, Jo gave the Hufflepuff girl a brief smile and approached her. "Hi! I can be your partner, if you want," she offered with a grin. "I'm Jo by the way."
Oh, a partner! Ella smiled at the girl she didn't recognized and nodded. "Yeah, that'd be great! Thank you." Jo? Nope, she definitely hadn't met a Jo before. "It's ice to meet you, Jo. I'm Ella." BEAM.

The classroom did look quite different and Ella couldn't help but think of Alice in Wonderland for some reason. The talking doorknob, y'know? Anways, she shook this off when the question was asked.
What would they be doing?
The locking and unlocking answers were likely and the blonde nodded in agreement. "Perhaps the Unlocking Charm, Professor."

............ right. So. West made a mental note to chat to Dylan about how weird Daichi was being. Or maybe go straight to Lafay? Because the dude was obsessed with ducks and all sure, but he wasn't normally so crazy and loud and points-lossy.
ANYWAYS.
Class was starting. West stuck his hand up.
"So it could be for Colloportus and Alohomora like what others have said already, but maybe also a detecting charm, so that you can tell if someone has been through your door or tampered with it or anything like that? Well what, it wouuuuld be useful wouldn't it?

Professor Knox hadn't broken anyone's arm in class yet right? So that was a good sign. West nodded, not willing to talk now that class had started.. And yep that door was all good. West shifted closer to it and waited for more instructions and stuff.

Everyone else was saying that they could be working on Locking Charms, others even specified the Alohomora and Colloportus spells. Beezus' first thoughts were the same so she decided to just keep silent so as not to repeat the same answer.
Although, when she eyed the door, her mind weaved different ideas... What if they were actually going to learn how to incorporate a certain location in mind to their doors and use it as portals? What if they were learning charms on how to get through doors without opening it? Hmm. There were a lot of possibilities....

OHAI Lottie!!!
Lex grinned as Lottie approached her and claimed her for a partner. "Okie dokes!" She wanted to work with her anyway--and loooooook, Professor Knox took the ice-cream!!! Eeeeep!! Now Lex was feeling all good inside for spreading ice-cream cheer and could happily allow herself to be pulled to the best door in the room, simply because it was theirs.
And you know, this arm linking thing was actually very comfortable so she wasn't about to complain at Lottie for not letting her go once they got to their door. Noooope. Quite comfy standing here and answering questions.
Speaking of answering questions, her free hand shot into the air.
"I really hope it's what Daichi said ma'am!! Like, you could teach us to pick locks--only, not the muggle way, that way we'd walk into rooms pass locked doors that say 'don't enter' without much problem!!!" BEAM. That'd make it harder for people to tell them what to do and boss them around. "Then once we learn this nifty little trick we get ice-cream!!!.....Also....did you finish the bowl so quickly??" Lex was looking really hard but she couldn't find the bowl of ice-cream she'd just gifted the woman. "I could get you moooore."
Jeeez, that was FAST.

Oakey stood by the door of his choosing forever alone. He was still looking for a partner, and was upset when Ariana chose Alice over him. So he just rolled on his heels looking around for anyone who might be on their own too. His eyes scanned the room until they landed on Professor Knox when she spoke up and began the class.
Alohomora, and Colloportus were safe guesses, but you could use those on any lock, so why go through the trouble of setting up free standing doors in the classroom. Portals, would be an awesome thing to learn, but he had done that in Ancient Runes under Professor Jenkins a few years ago...Oakey was stumped, an Oak Stump...He still needed a Partner.
Once the long hand hit the twelve, Ivy flicked her wand and shut the door. "Welcome to class. Thank you for being on time and finding partners. If you don't have a partner yet, just hold tight and we'll find you one in a few minutes." Got it? Good. Moving on. Time for a class discussion!

....No, of course Natalie didn't know what they were about to learn that day. She still wonders why almost all teachers/professors always ask them that when it's their job to actually prepare for the lesson. Nevertheless, Natalie put her hand up and gave a shot of her answer.
"Professor, there would probably be some things behind those doors that has something unfortunate happening to them and we're somehow supposed to, uhm, fix things up? Like a book spilled with water and we're supposed to dry the book or something. No?"

Natalie hasn't got a partner either, and she is eager to have one. When the little Slytherin announced to the class that she, too, hasn't got a partner, she quickly raised her hand up (again) and said, "I will be your partner!" Nat still hopes that the other girl would not mind her spontaneous reactioins to little things, though.
Any ideas? Ivy waited and let students answer before she would move into the real lesson.
....No, of course Natalie didn't know what they were about to learn that day.

Kace was relieved he found a partner. Him and Marigold might become the best of friends, who knows? Then he heard the professor starting the class. She was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what they were studying.
He really had no idea.....
He heard the students mentioning ideas and agreed with them. They might learn Alohomora but someone already mentioned that. He really had no idea but he was going to wait for the professor to say what they were going to learn.

Oh just a first year Hufflepuff was the first thing the second year old thought when she heard how the girl said that she wanted to be her partner… But… she was still happy that she didn’t needed to work alone. She looked at the other girl while she walked toward her and nodded friendly to her. “Hi” said Sonea quickly and hoped that the other girl didn’t mind it that she didn’t said more, but she was afraid that the professor would be angry if she talked during the lesson, she decided to talk later to the other girl and watched her when she waited for the teacher to speak again. The girl was young and she didn’t had saw her before on Hogwarts, but that was not so strange, the school was really large and it would be impossible to know everybody…
But still, even now that she was thankful that the other girl wanted to be her partner, she was disappointed that some other student hasn’t offered to be her partner BEFORE the first year, simply because Sonea liked the idea to work with somebody who could do al the heavy work and who was older than she while Sonea would watch with the excuse that she didn’t knew how to do the spell and that she still needed to learn it. But now she couldn’t do it that way and she was afraid that SHE would be the one who needed to do the heavy work, simply because she was older… And while she thought about it, she sighed.
Alexia still didn't have a partner when charms lady Professor Knox had started the class. That meant that she still had to find one, but first she would answer the question. Raising her hand she asked, "Will we be learning how to lock and unlock doors magically?" The answer seemed to be what other people were saying so she had to be close right?
Then she began to look around the room to see if anyone else was partnerless and then she saw the headboy standing all alone. Walking over to the door slowly and sneakily trying not to disturb the class she tapped the Head Boy's arm. "Need a partner?" she whispered. But all she was thinking was please say yes, she needed a partner.

Either that, or they were playing some kind of game where the ones who picked the right door got a prize, but she didn't think this particular professor was one for playing games. She didn't like talking, obviously, and she didn't like warm classrooms.

Her real answer would be: "But since this is Charms...then probably Lock charms of the sort!" Nod, nod. BEAM! And she was totally agreeing with the Slytherin boy and the ice cream! Excited much?

Ivy tried not to look disappointed. Locking charms? Was that all they thought she was good for? Have some imagination, kids. "Good guesses," she lied said, but shook her head. "No, we will not be learning locking charms today. Those are, or should be basic, firsthand knowledge already. And if they're not... well, your fellow students just told you what they were, so figure it out." She wasn't going to waste valuable class time on silly locking charms. Pff.

Why was he smiling? And giggling? Merlin...
..... *deadpan*
"No."

Sighhhhh. "No. No, no, no, and if anyone talks about ice cream again, they'll get three times as much homework. Understood?" Ivy glared at Alexa and Daichi and then everybody else. Did they not understand the meaning of quiet?

Alice in Wonderland....? "This isn't Muggle Studies." So, in other words... No.

Finally, someone who was almost on track! Ivy was visibly relieved to hear West's answer about a detecting charm. "Very close, Mr. Odessa. Good guess."
Ivy cleared her throat and moved away from her desk. "I hope you all heard what Mr. Odessa said, because his answer was the closest. We will not be learning about locking or unlocking charms today, but rather..." Ivy waved her wand at the chalkboard. The previous message erased itself and in its place was a new title:
"Intruder Charm"
"... The Intruder Charm." See? Much more interesting than locking and unlocking doors and cleaning the classroom. "Though similar, the Intruder Charm is not to be mistaken for the Caterwauling Charm," she explained. "Can someone tell me what the Intruder Charm does? And what is the difference between the Intruder Charm and the Caterwauling Charm?"
OOC: Class will continue in about 5-9 hours... depending on Peeves.

Oh, so no lock charms? Ella was a bit relieved about this as she wanted to learn something new. Not that there was any harm in reviewing things but still...
"The Intruder Charm can sense an intruder and set off an alarm," Ella offered after raising her hand. "The Caterwauling Charm is very similar only I think it can cover a larger area? I mean, Intruder Charms are best used for a single house, yeah?"
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
...
O__O
Well then! If she didn't want anymore ice-cream all she had to do was SAY SO! Merlin's beard, honestly, no need to threatened with extra homework. "Understood Professor!" BEAM. And with that, they were moving on to not breaking into places but rather...detecting when others did by the sounds of what they would be learning today.
She raised her free hand once again. "The intruder charm is kinda like this thing muggles have called a buglar alarm. It detects intruders then makes loud noises." That's what the book at said--funny isn't it that she actually read to find that out but the book had several useful hexes in it so she figured she might as well had read the whole thing. That's also why she knew what the next one did too.
"It's different from the Caterwauling Charm because it's for closer ranges and it's not nearly as loud. So like Ella said, the intruder charm could be used for a house but the Caterwauling Charm would be better suited for like...larger areas that need more coverage."
Also...this whole not mentioning ice-cream thing was hard. You know how you never think you'll miss something until it's been taken from you? It was something like that.

Marigold raised her hand from over by a door next to Kace.
"Professor, doesn't the Intruder Charm sound an alarm when someone comes through the door?" Something like that? She was reminded of the burglar alarm her mother had insisted on getting on their house. "And the Caterwauling Charm... is louder and bigger, like on a town instead of a door?"
