| | Charms I When you walk into the Charms classroom, you will find it much like the rest of the castle; dirty, dusty, shabby. You will find dust bunnies, spiderwebs, and maybe even some webs with inhabitants in them. The grimy desks are in 6 straight rows, divided into two columns, facing the front of the room. The windows are closed, but the light shines through the dirty, spotted glass. Professor Knox is standing in front of her clean desk, watching the students file into the classroom. A closed box sits on the floor. Next to the professor is the chalkboard that says, in big, clean letters: "Sit down and be quiet." OOC: Class has now started! Please do not post your character arriving late, just pretend they've been in class the whole time! Please read the rules before posting. We'll know if you didn't. Class Progression:
1. Start of class / exploding dust / first question
2. Answers / Scourgify Review / New Charm: Poliotus / Activity
3. New Charm: Vitrumonia / Activity #2 This class will end on Monday, May 27th at 6 AM GMT. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Abigail L Blythe First Year | Post #1 You have bewitched me body and soul, And I love- I love- I love you Walking to a dusty bookcase with beautiful glass doors, that stood near the professors office door, Mackenzie pulled out her wand. She took a deep breath and pointed the wand at the dust that had to be at least three or four inches thick on top of the wood. "Scourgify" She repeated the spell, the same one she had used to clean her desk before polishing it. Slowly she repeated the incantation on the sides before opening the doors to the inside, where as the shelves and books were protected from the falling dust thanks to the doors, there still was plenty inside. Pointing her wand again, "Scourgify" she spoke softly cleaning the dust off.
Smiling she pointed her wand at the glass panes of the doors, with a downward motion she spoke "Vitrumonia" and soon the door was shiny and new.
She continued this over the other door before closing them back and skipping off to see what else she could find. |

| Post 8- Impervius ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
After getting rid of the ugly thingy, Jory searched the floor for signs of any others. But after minutes of looking, he had not spotted any. It was just probably a lot of grime and dust mixed together. But he wasn't sure what had caused it to stick to the floor. Oh well. At least it was gone.
Jory decided he would cast a spell on the floor that would waterproof the floor just in case any rain leaked in through the windows or they were accidentally settling on it. For a while anyway. He tapped the floor and wall surrounding one of the windows where he was standing. "Impervius!'' He moved away from that spot and cast the charm again. "Impervius!'' That should do it.

| #5 Arts TRANSPONSTER! Meh, never mind. She could clean up the chair after she was done, right?
Pulling a chair from under a desk carefully enough so that nobody would get hurt, Sophie climbed on it and was finally able to reach the rest of the window. "Vitrumonia!" She cast the spell as she waved her wand around the glass.
Lovelyyyy!
Oh look, a dust bunny on the windowsill. "Scourgify." Be gooooone!!! Hehehehe! "Poliotus." Sophie added, doing the S-shape motion across the sill.
Tadaaah!
She got off the chair and decided to try non-verbal spells to clean it. Waving her wand over it, Sophie cast a non-verbal Scourgify and actually polished the chair also non-verbally.
sdlkfjsnfkjsdnflkjsdnfjkdsfnsldjk YAY! See there! It was awesome that they were using simple spells in the lesson because she was totally able to cast them non-verbally and they WORKED!! skdjfnsjk YES!

| post 6 HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED Mika walked around the room and glanced at the table near her and crinkled her nose at it. Well, it was only crinkling because she was about to sneeze because of all of that dust. There was far too much of it.
Taking out her wand she pointed at the table. "Scourgify" she watched as the dust cleaned off. The table was clean, almost could eat off of it clean. So she twirled her wand and glanced at what else to do. Twirling her wand around she carefully made a slow and nearly perfect s shape with it "Poliotus" she spoke and watched as it polished. Running her finger over the smooth almost glass like wood she could tell that it was far more clean now.
Walking to the nearest window, she pointed her wand and made a line in the air in front of it. "Vitrumonia" casting the spell she watched as the formerly dapple light began to glisten and gleam through a cleaned window.
Walking around the room she glanced for things that needed to be cleaned. Right, that window slime and the perspiring glass. She walked over to the window and glanced at the aiming her wand and pointed it at the perspiration. "Tergeo" she watched as the water smoked off of the window. Now, there was just the issue of the dirt and grime.
Again she made a line in the air, "Vitrumonia" and watched as the window was now clean and in no fear of being a grime filled disaster zone for a little bit. Pointing her wand at the window sill she carefully began to clean it. "Scourgify" she watched as the wood around the window was suddenly clean and well, not glistening but clean. It was a start.

Welp. Sassy Professor Knox was sassy.
But you know, she was one of them interesting types that keep your mind loaded with new knowledge while she keeps you on her toes. So, Beezus didn't mind the comments the woman was spewing to everyone. She approved actually, that the woman required good attitude as a requisite at her class. The world would be such a better place if everyone had that. Was she right or was she right? Heh.
Anyhow, they have another charm they were learning today aside from the Polishing charm. Mmh.. The Glass Cleaning Charm. And considering how many glass articles there were in the castle - windows, cabinets, etcetera - it was definitely going to be one of the most useful ones. Incantation was Vitrumonia. "Vitrumonia. Vitrumonia. Vitrumonia." The Ravenclaw repeated for a bit before nodding as she watched the demonstration provided by their Professor. A simple wave was all it required. Great! This place would be spick-and-span in no time.
Off to their second activity aka Charms Classroom General Cleaning.
She was up for that. Woot. But first, she needed to tie her hair so it won't get in the way.
After doing so, the brunette stood up and approached windows to her left. Glass windows. Time to put the charm to the test. With her index and middle finger, she scraped off the thick amount of dust on the window's surface. "Ew." It was thick dust, all right.
So it was obvious what she had to do, right? Brandishing her wand, she muttered out, "Vitrumonia!" Bye, bye thick dust. Hello, shiny glossy glass!

Man that woman was purposely trying to be scary. And NO, she wasn't scared of her. Come of it, she wasn't it even scared of aunt Tiffany and the woman was a dark force defender. BLEH.
They moved on to the next spell. Now she liked the class when they were just learning spells instead of yoga. When she'd seen the woman first, she thought there'd be another exercise drill.
She eyed the charm written on the board. Vitrumonia. She didn't like the sound of it. It sounded like some kind of chronic disease. NAW. Alright, back to learning.
"Vee-true-mu-ny-aw" NAW. NAW. And she was distracted. You can't be distracted at this woman's class. Now she knew that was instrumental. "vee-truh-MOH-nee-uh" And she drew the straight line, mimicking the professor.
"Vitrumonia!" And she pointed her wand towards the glass on the left. Nothing. DANG. "Vitrumonia!" It wasn't exactly the sleek and shiny. UH, it wasn't anything like sleek and shiny.
"VITRUMONIA!" So you had to say it loud. STIFFED GRIN. Well, atleast now the glass was sleek and shiny. YEAH!

This wall was tough. Ethan had already cast Scourgify on it 3 times. He sighed. Might as well try it once more. "Scourgify!", he practically shouted at the unforgiving wall. He dared to open his eyes. Yes! It had finally worked. Now, onto some more windows. Professor Knox had said the same effect of Vitrumonia could be accomplished by using both Scourgify and Poliotus on the glass. Mustering his concentration once again, "Scourgify!" Well, the glass was cleaner than before. Making the S movement with his wand, "Poliotus!" Ah. Now the window was truly clean.

Forrest watched intently again not to make any mistakes. He had to admit that he was learning things every day and it was good, but it'd be a liiiiiittle bit better too if he learnt spells other than just cleaning. So far, only transfiguration wasn't focused on cleaning--and even then, they would prepare some parade to gain money.
Eh. What else could he do but follow the directions?
Wand out, he closed his eyes momentarily and revised what professor had just shown them. 'Vitrumonia,' his lips read out without any sound, 'vee-truh-moh-nee-uh! Vitrumonia!' He had yet to explode anywhere even though he had never practised spells before trying them with wands--when he failed in a spell, nothing ever happened, usually--but he practised this one without his wand nevertheless, because something inside him told him that this professor would explode him if he broke something. So, dropping his wand on the table, he whispered the spell and drew a line in the air. "Vitrumonia!" A small line. There.

Daichi was glad that there was only one charm left to use. He had to admit, it wasn't THAT bad to clean but he was never going to admit that out loud of course. He gazed towards the blackboard at the front of the classroom to see which spell he still needed to do. Scourgify? check. Vitrumonia? check. So that meant that Poliotus was left. (He wasn't looking to the three other spells that could be used after that for the moment)
Looking around, the Slytherin tried to find a spot where a student hadn't been yet. He found a wooden cabinet at the side of the room that still looked dusty. It was probably used to store spare textbooks? He wasn't sure but that didn't matter now did it?
He first wanted to clean the top surface of the cabinet because there was where the dust usually collected itself the most right? He grabbed a chair and stood on it. He pointed to the top and said "Poliotus!" and traced an S shaped symbol over the dusty surface. It didn't take long before it was clean and even a bit shiny. Heh, he liked shiny~
Next thing, he got off of the chair and first placed it back where he had found it. He then traced an S on the front of the cabinet and used the "Poliotus" charm again. Using the same spell for the sides of the cabinet aaaand he was done~

Next Sarah decided to try the polishing charm. She looked around and espied the door of the room. It would need polishing. She walked over to it and with her wand made the shape of the S on top of it. She said "Poliotus" and the area shined. She then began to polish the whole door bit by bit. Once that was done she went over to the window where the frames looked like polishing could help it too. She went over to it. and repeated the spell on the horizontal bar at the bottom of one of the windows. She then did it on the adjacent vertical bars as well.
She felt the smoothness of the bar. It felt nice yet Sarah prefered polishing things the muggle way, it was more satifying to do it that way as it required more effort.

Once Forrest was done practising it wandless, he grabbed his wand and looked around to spot a dirty place. There were many, indeed, but he didn't want to just clean some spot, and every good spot was taken by some other student. His eyes fell on the desk in front of the professor's desk at last and he made his way towards it. He examined the desk at every angle, and he shrugged in the end. There was a spider on its web by some corner and it was dirty in general--nothing too special or disgusting.
Taking a deep breath, he pointed it at the surface and said "Scourgify." It seemed to work, though he wasn't sure how effective it was. It just wiped the dirt on the surface and he would be willing to put his elbows on it, but who knew what the professor would think? Shrugging to himself, he bent down to apply the same to the spider. "Sorry buddy, but you know how women are," he whispered to the animal there. His face was geniunely sorry too. "They say you won't die but go to some place else though. I hope it's better than here." After making the spider feel better, hopefully, he applied the same Scourgify there too and it was gone, making him smile half-heartedly. He was sorry for spider, but he was glad for succeeding in the spell.
Dilemmas, dilemmas. Life would have been much easier without them.
Cleaning the chair too, he sat down to rest for a moment.

Mweh, he really didn't want to clean any further. He had done the three required spells for the activity. But...a small voice in his head told him that he should continue. He knew that there was probably more points to win if he cleaned up more and well, he wanted to beat Hufflepuff off of their throne.
So with this determination in mind, Daichi decided to use the extra spells as well. No one could ever say he never helped out! He looked to the black board and read the list. Tergeo seemed like a good one to start with.
Having used this spell before, so the Slytherin didn't need to practise first. He walked to a corner of the room and looked down to the floor seeing that it was dusty in the corner. It was just a simple point movement with his wand right? He thought for a few seconds and then nodded his head. He pointed his wand to the corner and said "Tergeo!" The dust slowly vanished in to thin air and just when Daichi wanted to place his wand back in his holster...it was back again.
Frowning, Daichi stared down at the dust and then scratched his neck. Why was it back? Did he do something wrong? He pointed his wand and said "Tergeo!" for a second time and now concentrated on vanishing the dust. And luckily, after a few moments it did vanish and didn't come back either.

Next to the polishedd frames the windows themselves looked out of place. That reminded Sarah to learn the new spell. So she moved away from the window and went back to her desk where she had written notes on the spell.
""vee-truh-MOH-nee-uh" she said it slowly as she did not want to mess up. Each syllable had to be said with care and all afterall. "vee-truh-MOH-nee-uh" she repeated. Then she decided to try say it faster/ "Vitruronia" she tried, then shook her head in fustration . "Vitromonia" she said trying again. She tried and tried yet her tongue kept on getting twisted on the words. It was getting really frustrating. Fianlly on about the tenth try she managed to say it "Vitrumonia". She was so proud of herself. She decided to repeated it three times in order to make sure that she had it to the T. "Vitrumonia" she said "Vitrumonia, Vitrumonia". THAT WAS IT! SHE HAD IT.

Once he was done resting, he closed his eyes for a moment (elbows on the relatively clean desk and hands covering his face to close his eyes) and tried to remember how the previous charm was like. It was ’Poliotus’ but as he understood bitterly, there was a wand movement too and it took him some time to remember that.
An S! That was it!
With a relieved look on his face, he quickly opened his face and practised the pronunciation nonetheless. Practice hardly did any damage. Once he was pleased, he removed his elbows from the desk and got up to get a broader vision. ”Poliotus!” he exclaimed as he drew a big S covering the whole surface. Waiting... waiting... and suddenly, the table was brighter, reflecting the sunlight coming from the windows thanks to other students.
Success!

So, the room was getting close to being immaculate. However, the spot Ethan had moved over too was still quite filthy. Dust, dirt, grime, cobwebs, and spiders were all present. Ethan hated spiders. They were alright if they were just these little spindly things but if they were huge like tarantulas, he shuddered at the thought. Now that he was a wizard, he had heard rumors that there were gargantuan spiders the size of trucks. But he had to get back to work. He wondered if there was a spell that combined the effects of Scourgify and Poliotus like Vitrumonia, but only for walls. None of the spells Ethan had read about did anything like that, and he had read all of his school books and some library books too. Anyway, his section of the room was clean now and he traveled over to another section of the room and started cleaning that one too.

The wand movement was a simple wave so Sarah decided that she would skip the wandmovement only pratice part and do the combined practice first. She took of her glasses and helped them in her left hand. Her wand was in her right hand and with it she waved it over the one lens and said "Vitrumonia". She then held her glasses out at arm length and compraed the two lenses. She could now actually notice how smudged and covered in fingerprints her lenses had been, as the difference between the two was as clear as night and day. She then did the other lens with a "Vitrumonia" and a wave. Now other people can see her behind her glasses. (strangely she never noticed when her glasses were dirty, it was other people that alerted her to it. That is why Sarah did not mind them being smudged and all).
Now she had to do it to help the class. She went back to the window frames that she had polished and looked at the panes. It was a wonder that the light was actually coming in. Sarah wished she could clean them the mugge way, as that was more fun yet she knew that the point of the lesson was to expand her horizons. She apportioned the pane into sections and then waved her wand at the lowest section. "Vitrumonia" she said. Magically the grime disappeared and its place one could see the world outside.

"To perform this spell, simply say the incantation and wave your wand over the glass you wish to clean. For example..." Ivy got out her wand and drew a small line in the air in front of the glass while saying "Vitrumonia."
Forrest didn't practise Vitrumonia wandlessly again as he'd made sure before that his pronunciation was perfect. So, he simply moved towards the windows and found himself a spot among people. He was careful to choose somewhere less dirty than the rest of the windows because it was easier to clean and got his wand out to perform the spell. "Vitrumonia."
... ... ...
Nothing, nothing and nothing.
He collapsed on a nearby desk, not really caring whether it was clean or dirty, and sighed to himself. He wanted to succeed in spells at the first try already. |

She then moved on to the next square and began her series of spell work/ As she worked Sarah had another reasn why it was nicer to do it the muggle way. With the muggle way one only needed thier hands and therefore they were able to do things iwth their mouth like sing and talk. Also it did not require concentration so her mind was free to travel elsewhere. Yet now she had to carefully say the incantation and also concentrate as she said it. To the more practical person it was easier and got the job done faster which sorted of justified the need for the spell.
Soon she had cleaned the whole pane (finally another plus to the spell, she did not need a chair to clean the higher parts. She then decided to take on the next window and do a thorough job all at once. She decided to start with the frame again. "Scourigfy" she casted on each one, then she did the polishing charm over it. That made the frames look nice. Then Sarah did the window cleaning charm on the panes, this time taking on wider areas at once. Finally she took a few steps back and examined her handiwork. Not bad!

Forrest might was well stop trying it, because it was the THIRD time he was trying the spell and nothing happened. He began to question his wizarding spells all over again. The 'nothing'ness bothered him the most. He wouldn't mind it if something exploded--though he was sure the professor would kill him--the professor! He was sure she'd kill him if he refused to practise the spell too. He peeked at the woman and gasped to himself, turning back quickly. He wondered whether ever professor was like that. Only Professor Airey had been friendly, and Professor Romanos... the rest made sure students hated them.
With her wrath on mind, he took a deep breath again and raised his wand. "Vitrumonia!" he exclaimed as he drew a small line with his wand. It--IT WORKED! "HEY!" he exclaimed victoriously as he looked around for someone to congratulate him--though there was none and he let out an embarrassed sigh. Hopefully, the professor didn't hear it.
Turning back to examine his work, he leaned forward and eyed it from very close. It let as much sunshine as any window did and it did look shiny. He grinned to himself. He had to tell his mother about this too.

Professor Knox actually saw that and praised her!!
Smile widening, the girl looked up at the woman with sparkly eyes. "Thank you, professor!!" She said, still holding her wand with one hand and the back of the chair with the other.
Why, that gave Sophie a boost of excitement and she was determined to look for more dirty thing and practice some more non-verbal spells. Hopefully she would succeed again.
She noticed a spot on a close by window and walked towards it. She eyed the dirt for a bit before deciding what spell to use. It looked like some sort of... sticky thing? She couldn't tell. But welp, it was there to be cleaned!
The fifth year aimed her wand at the spot and concentrated on the incantation. Aguamenti was a very simple spell as well, so that shouldn't be a problem to cast non-verbally. After a few seconds of silence, a jet of water actually came out of Sophie's wand. It hit the target spot on, but Sophie was a little surprised by her non-verbal nonetheless and got water in other areas of the window as well.
Not a problem! She scrubbed the spot a little with her finger nail until it fully came off and tried casting Impervius non-verbally on the sill. She wasn't quite sure whether it had worked, but the silent Aguamenti worked once again!
Oh, and look at that. Impervius hadn't worked this time. Woops. "Tergeo." Sophie cast automatically and out loud. Oh boo! She had just missed an opportunity to practice it nonverbally!

Sarah then moved over to the corner where a spider web was just chilling. There was no spider on it so Sarah felt okay to destroy it. Should she use tergeo or deletorious? She decided to do the latter. She took out her wand, "Deletrius" she casted and a bit of the webbing disappeared. She concentrated harder, "Deletrius" she casted this time her mind fully on the spell. She was glad when the web did disappear completely. There was another web just above it and Sarah decided to try the spell again. "Deletrius". This time, as she had more practice the web disappeared right away. She kind of liked that charm. Yet only if it was used on an obviously bad thing like a spider web or something she would not need in the future.

Alright, one corner done and the wall and another corner to go. Ella had her wand out and at the ready, her nose slightly wrinkled at how awful the walls looked. It was just way too gloomy in here for her liking. "Scourgify!" Hm. That was a bit better, yeah? "Scourgify!" Even more so now. She'd heard that her friends who'd had detention before had to sit in really dirty rooms and wondered a bit if they were anything like this. It was something to think on as she worked. The blonde continued her work on the back wall, cleaning as she went and stopping at the corner. YIKES. Lots of dust and dirt here too. Shudder. "Scourgify!" There. Now for some polishing.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Tatiana (Tanner) Donne First Year | post #1 Tanner started out simple. Her desk. It was a bit dusty, but it was annoying the first year, and she was going to do something about it. Okay, so the spell was scourgify. That removed dust, yes? Oh she hoped so. She was NOT looking forward to paying for a broken desk if anything went wrong.
"Okay." The blond took a breath. So DRAMATIC. "Scourgify?" She smiled as the spell cleaned off the thin layer of dust on her desk. No more sneezing for anyone that sat there! And she actually did a spell right! |

Next charm up, Poliotus. Ella stepped back from the area she'd been working on and eyed it carefully. She'd need to do this in sections if it was going to work properly, yeah? She just wasn't quite confident she could get the whole thing in one go. Heading over to the right corner, the blonde pointed her wand and made the s movement over the space she wanted to clean. ”Poliotus!” Tilting her head, Ella observed her work with a smile. BEAM. This was looking great!
She continued to move along the back wall, working on sections as she went. The blonde was careful with her wand movement and clear when saying the incantation. She was going to do this correctly. Yup, she was. ”Poliotus!” Beam. Still looking good.
Next Ella moved to the far corner again, pointing her wand and making the S movement. ”Poliotus!” There. Easy as pie.
