| | Charms I When you walk into the Charms classroom, you will find it much like the rest of the castle; dirty, dusty, shabby. You will find dust bunnies, spiderwebs, and maybe even some webs with inhabitants in them. The grimy desks are in 6 straight rows, divided into two columns, facing the front of the room. The windows are closed, but the light shines through the dirty, spotted glass. Professor Knox is standing in front of her clean desk, watching the students file into the classroom. A closed box sits on the floor. Next to the professor is the chalkboard that says, in big, clean letters: "Sit down and be quiet." OOC: Class has now started! Please do not post your character arriving late, just pretend they've been in class the whole time! Please read the rules before posting. We'll know if you didn't. Class Progression:
1. Start of class / exploding dust / first question
2. Answers / Scourgify Review / New Charm: Poliotus / Activity
3. New Charm: Vitrumonia / Activity #2 This class will end on Monday, May 27th at 6 AM GMT. |

The young girl looked satisfied at her work and smiled, she was really proud of herself, the spells she just had used where simple but she was still proud of them. Every witch or wizard needed to start small if they would become the best in what they were doing. “Look Little princess, now that I have learned this spell I can clean you cage quicker!” Sonea smiled at her rat who sat still hidden in her pocket and gave her a small snack to eat, the snack was really small because Little princess was still too fat, but she loved her rat too much to not give her something to eat. But… Because Sonea was not sure if it was allowed to have you pet with you in the classroom she kept Little princess inside her pocket, just to make sure that nobody would see her.
When Sonea had closed her pocket again she pointed her wand at the Window frame and made a s shaped movement with her wand and spoke the spell. “Poliotus!” And again, the spell had worked and the window frame was now shiny and as new!

As much as Theo liked the idea of a clean castle, he was getting rather sick and tired of the professors making them do all the work. He supposed that it was good learning for when they grew up in the domestic world, but still, this was all very excessive. Theo looked at the spell that was newly written on the board. He'd never heard of it before, so that was great, it probably wouldn't work out how he would want it to.
Vee-truh-MOH-nee-uh.
At least the pronunciation at the bottom helped out again. The wand movement was pretty easy, too.
Theo made his way over to a window that was looking particularly filthy. He pulled out his wand and give it a wiggle, to get himself warmed up and stuff. But needed to get the incantation right, first. Placing his wand by his side, Theo glanced back at the board. "Vi-tru-monia." It was actually quite easy to say, so he wasn't too worried.
"Vitrumonia!" The Slytherin waved his wand over a corner of the window and watched as it cleaned up. Woooooooooooooah, awesome. He continued to cast and wave over the remainder.

Nigel did not really liked cleaning things. But since this was an assignment. He could deal with it. Plus the outcome of him cleaning things was pretty awesome. Okay, now where to use the first charm. He looks at the empty desk across from him and thought it was a perfect starting point. "Scourgify" Nigel cast at the desk and watched it become clean. Now to use the second charm they were required. Nigel made the S motion and cast "Poliotus" on said desk. Now that was a clean desk.
Nigel was having a little brain fart remembering the last charm. But knew it started with a V. Plus he knew he would actually have to stand to perform it. Something to do with windows. Then it hit Nigel it was the spell to clean windows. Well that made sense now. Nigel walked over to a dirty window and cast "Vitrumonia".
Nigel never had a hard time learning spells. Potions was a different story though.

"Vitrumonia!" Theo cast on the next one, only it didn't work until his third try this time. It often happened when he got overconfident with new spells. But third time lucky, eh? He waved it over the corners first, then in the center of the next window and watched as it cleared up. He was getting bored already, but wanted to rush it out of the way to get the good spots before others did.
He moved on from the windows and very grumpily got onto his hands and knees to clean the floor. This was not what he came to Hogwarts for, but WHATEVER. Scourgify seemed to be the best option for this... well, actually... so could the polishing one. Maybe he'd try both for extra measure. Theo pointed his wand at the floor and cast a simple, "Scourgify!" This spell was no problem for Theo, so that was good and stuff.
He scourgified the floor allllllllllllllllll around him before he attempted the next spell.

| Post 2 Stephanoodle || Adorable Nerd So after Kace was done cleaning with the Scourgify charm, he was keen on using the shinning charm. It was Poliotus wasn't it? He checked his book and he was right it was. The wand movement was an S formation. That should be easy enough.
Kace then decided to go look in the classroom for anything to be polished. Well the area by his desk did need polishing, especially the floor. Kace pointed his wand at the floor and did the S shape "Poliotus" and then the floor was shiny and polished. He even put his finger on the floor and did not see a trace of dust on the floor.
He already did his desk and he decided to look for something else. He saw another desk that needed to be clean and polished. He cleaned it first and he said "Scourgify!" and then he polished it was an S formation and said "Poliotus!"
There that seemed to be sufficient. He was doing quite well with these spells.

It was a never-ending THING. Rather tiring, too. No wonder the elves had left them. Plus, the S-shape motion was beginning to take a toll on her wrist. Seriously, though, elves didn't use wands, so perhaps it wasn't AS tiring as this.
There's a question for Toddles.
Helloooo windows. Dirty windows, at that. Why was it that this classroom had a bunch of windows while most of Hogwarts did NOT? Surely, Ivy Knox wanted it that way. Anyway. There was no use of Scourgify+Poliotus since they had that new charm. "Vitrumonia," she said, before actually doing any spellwork. The pronunciation was as close as the one Ivy Knox told them, soooo...wand time! "Vitrumonia!" Wand up to the window...and...Lottie was momentarily blinded by sudden light that was coming through the glass. Merlin, this thing was incredibly dirty before.
She still smiled, because she repeated the incantation and wand motion over the rest of the window and soon enough they had a whole clean one. Hey there, light. |

After she'd had enough of polishing and cleaning the desk then making faces at them, she felt it was time to move to a new canvas. The windows! The Professor had gotten one grim free and really, she appreciated that because they were almost starting to kill her mood.
Lex skipped over to the windows and whipped out her wand.
Er...what was that spell again...? Vitrumonia, right! Ahem, she raised her wand. "Vitrumonia!"
BEEEAAAAAMM. Just LOOOK at that window! Have you ever seen one shine like it?? No? She didn't think so. Mhm, cleanest window in the room if you asked her. Time to do this good service to the next one over. "Vitrumonia!" Hehehehehe, such clean windows. She ran a finger along one of them, still grinning to herself before turning sharply to get another one and promptly slipping to the floor.
Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Merlin's beeeard. Who's bright idea was it to polish the floor while she was still walking on it?? Owwwww, ow ow owww.

So... HIS part of the floor was clean. He wasn't gonna clean the whole thing, because this was a team effort, you know. Theo stopped and surveyed what he had already done, then looked over at the board to refresh his memory of the polishing spell. It was hard since he was all the way over here and on his knees, but he seemed to have a good idea of what to do. He'd done this before, so he could totally do it again!
"Polio-tus." He said aloud.
Okay. Theo practiced the 'S' wand movement, too, and soon felt ready. "Poliotus." He lagged a bit, but proceeded to do the movement. But nothing happened, OF COURSE. The Slytherin frowned at the floor but wasn't going to give up that easily. This time, he tried his hardest to do the wand movement and the incantation at the same time.
"Poliotus!" Sssssssssssssssssssssss...
And viola! The floor was suddenly gleaming up at him. Almost enough to see his own reflection. Nice one, Kinsley.

| Post 5! Eagle Eye [⅓ Badger Trio] Felon & Kafka ♥ Gilderoy Lockhart <3 [TEAM 947!] SO SORRY LEX! We're oh-so-terribly sorry that you slipped on the floor, but...you know, polishing was also for linoleum, and while she didn't know if this particular floor fell into that category, she'd been polishing it anyway.
GRANTED, Lottie shouldn't be blamed for this, since lots of other students were doing the polishing charm on the floor. *coughs*TheodoreKinsley*coughs*
Back to the windows! The brighter the room was, the less likely Lex would slip again. Logic. "Vitrumonia, vitrumonia, vitrumonia," the same spell was repeated over and over again. Over windows, that is. The room became lighter by the second. Yet she stopped merely to look outside for a moment, the grounds were so pretty out there, and they were stuck inside doing some cleaning. Or leaning cleaning spells, but that was almost the same.
Oneee more corner..., "Vitrumonia!" wand gave way to light!
Or clean windows. It's pretty much the same thing. |

Since that seemed to have worked like a dream, Theo decided to move onto a few of the desks using the same idea. His desk, that is, because that was all he cared about. Theo cleared all his things off the desk and placed them underneath in his bag. "Scourgify!" Theo cast, wand pointing at his desk. The surface cleared from dust and dirt immediately, and the Slytherin smirked.
Theo traced his finger along the wooden desk, then examined it closely JUST to make sure. Yup, spic and span.
Now for more of the polishing. He looked at the board again for extra confirmation. It's okaaay, he could do this! "Poliotus!" Nothing happened the first time, because he forgot the wand movement.... again. "Poliotus!" He cast again, adding a very precise S shape. The desk polished, but no where near as nicely as his patch of floor had. Hmm, that was strange.
No matter... it was clean and he could see himself again in the refelection.
Theo looked around for something else to clean. Hummm... he was on a role here!

Nigel was standing up now and felt it would be counter productive to sit back down and continue using the spells. He decided to do the spells in reverse order just for the fun of it and because he was already by the windows. Why making an unnecessary second trip. It was the smart thing to do. "Vitrumonia!" Nigel cast at the first dirty window he saw. He was really liking this spell. He was thinking of casting it in his dormitory when he got back. There were some dirty windows there. Plus no of us clean them.
Nigel was just about to cast again when out of the corner of his eye he sees a gryffindor slip. It was pretty funny. But this was not the time to laugh at something like that. So Nigel went back to his dirty windows. "Vitrumonia!"
Now that was one clean window.

| Post 3 Stephanoodle || Adorable Nerd Alright so after done cleaning the desk and floors, it was time to clean the glass windows or anything glass related. Kace was walking around and saw that glass was clean by the older students. He decided to go outside the classroom and find some glass.
Once he walked down the hallway, he noticed glass that was severely grimy and just plain disgusting. Kace nodded and decided to tackle this bad boy. He just had to wave his wand and say.. Vitrumonia (vee-truh-MOH-nee-uh). "Vee-truh-moh-nee-uh...Vee-truh-MOH-nee-uh." He kept saying to try and get it right. Then he practiced the wand movement and it was just a flick.
He stared at the window and said, "Vitrumonia!" with a flick of his wand and then the glass was cleaned. It was actually shinny and he could see through the window. Then he went back to the classroom and noticed the window by his desk. He said with a swish of his wand "Vitrumonia!" and then the glass was clean by his desk. He was getting the hang of this!

Deciding that it was the glass polishing charm that he needed extra work on, Theo made his way over to another abandoned window. But it was obvious by his expression that he was getting bored with these spells and fast. He hadn't even seen some of those new looking spells that were optional before.... but he was SO gonna have a go, because they could come in handy just as much as anything else.
Oh... wait... what was that spell again?
It began with a V, or something.
Sighing loudly, Theo looked over at the board again for clarification. It annoyed him how much he relied on these visual prompts. They would get him NOWHERE in real life, you know, because they weren't there! Vitrumonia. Of course, that was it.
The Slytherin nodded and pulled out his wand again, remembering the wand movement as he did so. He liked this movement, it was pretty simple. "Vitrumonia." He waved his wand anxiously, but nope. Nothing... "Vitrumonia!" And again... he waved it... and a small patch of the outside was suddenly in view. WOOT, he had done it. Theo continued to wave the wand until the whole of the window was clear. He peeked outside and made a small whimper noise because he craved the fresh air.
Instead of this dust-ridden air in HERE, that is.

Nigel now thought that the desks need a good cleaning and scourgify was the perfect spell. Once he spotted a dirty desk. He moved over it as fast as he could. Since most were being cleaned as he thought this through. Now all it need was a good cleaning. "Scourgify!" .
That seemed to take care of that desk. Now to remember this desk. He wanted to come back to them after the cleaning to do the metal cleaning charm. On to another desk. "Scourgify!" Everything was getting a little to shiny for Nigel's eyes.
It was time to move on the metal cleaning charm. Now all Nigel had to do was remember what desks he had just cleaned. Not to hard, right?

Now it was time to try those optional spells, which looked way harder, but Theo just needed to try. He'd heard of them all, and had cast Tergeo maybe once, but never the others. What did the other ones even have to do with cleaning? Impervius was something to do with water. Repelling it, or something along those lines. Theo couldn't exactly see water dripping from the ceilings, so how would he possibly use it?
Eh.. he would think of something.
Im-per-vius.
It was an easy incantation, thankfully, but he had no idea what the wand movement was, so he decided to just wing it and point. "Impervius!" Nothing happened... or did it? Theo bent down and examined his desk, and figured that the only way to find out, would be to spill water over it. "Aguamenti!" He cast his signature spell, allowing a little dribble to plop onto the desk.
And it dribbled everywhere, so the spell obviously didn't work.
No biggie, he tried again... and again... until it was his fourth time trying. "Impervius!" He lowered his wand, examined like he had done before, and then, "Aguamenti!" The water bounced straight off the table! Theo's eyes were wide with shock. Did he just teach himself a spell? Woah.... he looked around at the professor and BEAMED. Did this mean he got a gold star? Professor Bellaire always gave him gold stars.

Nigel was beginning to realize that his cleaning thing was really relaxing. It was Zen. Now back to getting his cleaning done because once you start. You have to finish. "Poliotus." Nigel cast at the desk he cleaned just seconds before. That desk was perfect now. Shiny and clean. Just the way it should be. Okay moving on. Nigel went to the next desk that need the same treatment and did the same thing. Way do change something that is already working. "Poliotus." This was a lot better than cleaning the muggle way. His mother would make him do that as punishment for making a huge mess. Which was something Nigel did too frequently."Poliotus." Just for good measure.
It made to be clean after all.

Theo looked at... the spell beginning with D next, because he wanted to get the tricky ones out of the way first. But of course he would get this one. Did you SEE him just cast Impervius? A totally new spell that he didn't know before. Theo was definitely surprising himself with magic this term, it seemed to have turned around a lot so far. However, he very often got cocky when he got too good at something, which spoiled it almost every time.
He dramatically cleared his throat, enough for the whole class to hear, then pointed his wand at a cobweb hanging in a corner of a wall.
The description of the spell was very brief in his mind. It had something to do with disappearing... things... he wasn't sure what things, but eh, he'd wing it again. "Delytrus." He pointed his wand to the target confidently, but absolutely nothing happened. Not even one spark. Oh, that was disappointing. Theo looked over to the board and sighed heavily. He'd said it wrong, of course.
Deletrius.
De-le-tri-us.
He nodded, pointed, and, "Deletrius!" The cobweb was still there, swaying slightly at the breeze made by his brisk wand moving. Theo pouted and went to have another go, but the spider that inhabited the web made a sudden appearance.... leaving Theo to make a swift DISappearance.
Never mind. It obviously wasn't meant to be with this spell, but at least he had taken a shot.

Nigel was now at a lose for what to clean. He guessed he could continue using scourgify. But felt like he had use the spell more than enough for today. Maybe he should clean more window. Yeah maybe he will do that. Nigel slowly walked back over to the windows for a bit more cleaning. They did look pretty clean.
But nothing was ever perfectly clean. He arrived at the windows and looked around for a semi dirty one. He did not feel like fully cleaning anything anymore. He was in the mood that class should be over. He was no clean freak and the relaxing part of it ended when he had to walk back to the windows. "Scourgify!" Nigel cast pointing at the window. Hoping it would not break it since he never cast this spell on a window. Now was time to cast "Vitrumonia!"
Well at least the window as clean now. But he did not really what to clean another. He was cleaned out.

One spell to go. Or to try at least. Theo was a bit stumped at the failed attempt during the last spell, but Tergeo was one that he had definitely heard of it. It was a specific cleaning spell, so of course Theo knew about it. Since his desk was waterproof, he moved over to an unoccupied desk nearby. He didn't mind whose it was, as long as it was relatively clean.
"Aguamenti." He dribbled water over it again. Not that he was creating more mess, this was merely practicing Charms, so hopefully the professor would see it that way.
The water started trickling down the desk, so he had to act quickly before it dropped to the floor. Because he had helped clean this floor, you know. After a quick glance over at the board, Theo mouthed the incantation, then proceeded to practice saying it aloud. "Tergeo." It was an easy one! He wasn't too worried.
The Slytherin pulled out his wand and pointed it to the dribbles. "Tergeo!" And to his utter surprise, the water evaporated up immediately. Wow, that was like, zero effort at all. Which was great and all, but Theo was just glad that he had finished. Every spell had been tackled, so surely he could be dismissed early. For some reason, he needed a lie down. The boy sat back into his seat and placed his wand neatly in front of him.

"Poliotus!" Wade had just made the familiar 'S' shape over the desk he had just Scourgfied. The desk then became shiny and reflective. He had a few ideas now on the first few things he'll try polishing when he returns home, since he'll be of age by then.
Wade then moved on to the two desks nearby it. Wade's nose wrinkled a bit from the strange ordour emmiting from underneath it. Hm, no matter. "Scourgify!" The suds worked there magic again, and he waited until they disappeared before making the same 'S' shape over it again, "Poliotus!" Pretty simple, yeah?

More cleaning. Why did it seem they were doing a lot of that these days. But at least right now, they were using magic and that was way better and easier. Not that she minded cleaning, having to do it at home, she often helped her mum and Pinkie, their house elf.
The blonde decided to start with the basic cleaning spell, Scourgify. She liked that spell. But where? Looking around she saw the desks yeah she should start their... She started in the front of the room and would make her way towards the back of the room.
Nerida pointed his wand to the first desk she reached and clearly said "Scourgify!" He watched as the dust vanished. She moved on to another desk. And another, then another repeating the spell when she reached each new dirty desk. All the while humming a little tune to herself.

Moving along she noticed the room was starting to look much better, but there was many more things to do. Looking back at the windows she noticed another group that had gunk and grime on them. Giving the window a grossed out look she shook her head, really was this room ever cleaned, because she was starting to doubt it.
Holding up her wand Minerva made a straight line "Vitrumonia She watched as the first window cleared up and sun started coming through. That was better, then pointing her wand again at the windowsill "Scourgify" clearing up the cobwebs in the corners of the window.
Minerva moved to the next window and did the same wand movment Vitrumonia making sure each time the window was clean. Turning back to the rest of the classroom she was tired of doing windows. What else could she clean..

Dodging some of the other students as they cleaned around the classroom, Ethan wandered back over to his desk. Sure he had cleaned the top of it - and quite well, he might add. But the seat was still dirty meaning the back of his pants probably was too, not to mention how filthy the floor was underneath it. He curiously watched a Hufflepuff girl for a moment as she crawled around under desks, cleaning the floor, and he decided to clean that area around his desk too.
He pointed his wand at the seat of his desk. "Scourgify!" The dirt disappeared but he noticed a few cobwebs in the legs of the chair. "Scourgify!" he commanded again as he pointed his wand to remove the rest of the dust and cobwebs. Now for the grimy floor. "Scourgify!"
Now that the rest of his desk and its immediate area was clean, he figured he could also polish up the area to match the top surface of his desk. He waved his wand in a crisp S formation at the seat of his desk. "Poliotus!" It seemed a bit shinier, but maybe not quite as polished as it should be, he thought remembering Knox's demonstration. Probably would take more practice to master it, not that he really cared much about this spell, but he'd be getting practice today, like it or not.
Peering down at the stone floor, he noticed that it did look cleaner thanks to his spellwork, though still a little scuffed. Maybe it could benefit from a little polishing. Another tight S in wand movement, pointed at the floor, he commanded, "Poliotus!" It instantly looked shinier. That was done to his satisfaction.. now where else?

Lex laid on the floor for an extra minute or so, just making sure she could still feel her back. Who's bright idea was this? Seriously? Ooooowwww--Oh hey dirt! Lookit! Okay, not so much dirt as gunk on the bottom of the walls. You'd never have seen it if you weren't looking down here and well...you wouldn't be looking down here unless you were already down there.
Maybe that slipping thing wasn't so bad afterall.
Lex ran her fingers along the grime and scratched at it a bit. Hmm...seemed kinda thick. She pulled out her wand again, wincing just a bit--landed badly on her arm, that wouldn't be good BUT BACK TO THE GRIME THAT RESISTED SCRATCHING!!!
She began poking and scratching at it with the tip of her wand. Hmm...still wasn't coming off.
Stubborn, wasn't it?
There was something else she could try. "Deletrius!" and slowly the grime began to disappear until it wasn't all there anymore. Lex rolled over, about to get up when she noticed a arch of cobwebs leading from a desk to the ledge of the window. This, she could take care of too. "Deletrius!" Seeeee? Nothing to it.

After having cleaned the window, the Prefect turned around and faced the classroom. He looked around for a moment to watch the other students cleaning the room with the use of magic. Shaking his head, the Slytherin walked towards the back of the room and found a desk that was still dusty.
He brushed his finger over the surface of the desk and when he looked at his index finger he saw grey dust on it. Brushing the dust off on his pants, he then grabbed his wand and pointed it at the desk in front of him. "Scourgify!" he said and watched how the dust vanished in to thin air and a few seconds later the desk was dust free.
