| | Charms I When you walk into the Charms classroom, you will find it much like the rest of the castle; dirty, dusty, shabby. You will find dust bunnies, spiderwebs, and maybe even some webs with inhabitants in them. The grimy desks are in 6 straight rows, divided into two columns, facing the front of the room. The windows are closed, but the light shines through the dirty, spotted glass. Professor Knox is standing in front of her clean desk, watching the students file into the classroom. A closed box sits on the floor. Next to the professor is the chalkboard that says, in big, clean letters: "Sit down and be quiet." OOC: Class has now started! Please do not post your character arriving late, just pretend they've been in class the whole time! Please read the rules before posting. We'll know if you didn't. Class Progression:
1. Start of class / exploding dust / first question
2. Answers / Scourgify Review / New Charm: Poliotus / Activity
3. New Charm: Vitrumonia / Activity #2 This class will end on Monday, May 27th at 6 AM GMT. |

She'd gotten down the aisle, scourgifying the desk and humming but now it was time to skip all the way back up as well. There was a method to all this madness you see. They had to be cleaned then polished, that way they'd look real neat and she'd be able to make silly faces no matter which desk she stopped at. "Poliotus!" Oooooo, just look at that shine!!! "Poliotus!" GRIIIIN. Alexa Cambridge, making the world shinier, one desk at a time!!! Hehehehe. She continued skipping back up the aisle polishing the desks as she went along until finally she got to the last one--which, technically, was the first because that's the first to be cleaned on her way down...so last but first one...yeah...something like that.
OH, INSPECTIONS TIME!!!
Mhm, yup, because they were cleaned and polished now and the windows were too far away at the moment. It was all legit.
Lex leaned over the closest desk and stuck her tongue out. Heeeeey, she could see her reflection....sorta...ish...in a way...in this one tooooo!!! This got her giggling before she moved on to another and began making faces at it too.
Who knew cleaning had these benefits??

They were elves.
That was the first thought that came to mind, really, especially since she'd once thought about it in regards to the yellow house back when she met Alec. That was a long time ago, and she was reminded of it today. Not cool, Ivy Knox.
What good comes from this, exactly? Oh, right, they'll know how to clean stuff, but, yeah.
She wasn't going to complain OUT LOUD, though, so she simply took her wand again and, since her desk was all too-clean and spotless, moved over to her chair. It was slightly dusty, you see. "Scourgify!" Nope, not anymore. Lottie wasn't going to polish it, though. The floor could use some polishing, but...should she head to the back instead? No one ever cleaned the back of classrooms anyway...
...probably not even the elves. |

She was excited to get to the practical bit to say the least. Seriously, this room was dust filled and disgusting. She walked a few feet ahead and frowned – there, in the corner of the room was a rather sickly sight to see. A rather large cobweb with spider inhabiting it was to the right of her head.
“No no no no no no no” she muttered and began to rock back and forth on her feet before lifting her wand and weekly casting the spell. “Deletrius” she didn’t do it well enough though. Four of the now deformed spider had vanished in a puff of smoke. Causing the thing to fall onto the floor by her foot. “Deletrius” she got rid of the web and now dying spider. She had meant to get the web more than anything. “Sorry, my bad” she muttered at the smoke as it dissipated. She then stood there and glanced at the other things in the area.
There was some dust caking the floor – easy, and all of the desks in the area hadn’t been cleaned or polished yet. That, was something that needed to happen.

Eh, nothing really for Wade to complain about. They were just cleaning more stuff up here, right? Right. So after jotting down in his little notepad about Vitrumonia, he got up from his desk to begin cleaning the other nearby desks.
There was one at the far back corner that no one sat at. There were more cobwebs on this one than the other desks had on Wade's first arrival here. Hmm.. maybe even more since the start? Anyways, it was dirty. So aiming his wand at the top of the desk, Wade spoke clearly, "Scourgify!" The bubble and suds worked its magic, cleaning it right up like his once filthy-riddened desk.. Hmm.. it needed some polishing now.

The back of the classroom was a complete MESS. Dust everywhere! Airey and Bellaire would have a heart attack if they saw this. Even Lottie was starting to get annoyed with all the dust and dirt. "Scourgify!" she said, pointing and some vacated desks. Scourgify, Scourgify, Scourgify. She cleaned several desks, and some of the floor, before realizing the desks could be polished, and the floor too.
Eaaaaasy.
The third year Hogwartian S-shaped each of the desks she'd work on and part of the floor. Each and every time say the proper incantation to this spell. "Poliotus!" Each and every time.
Also, each and every time the desks started to shiny oh-so-beautifully that she started to smile...until the word 'elf' came back to mind.
Oh. |

After giving instructions, Ivy began wandering about, watching students as they started to clean and polish things and making sure they were following the rules and doing all right. In the first few moments of doing so, she saw a Ravenclaw already doing the disintegration charm and peered over the students shoulder. "Were you not listening?" Ivy asked the girl with a rather reprimanding tone. "Do the required charms first," she said, pointing to the board. "Then, you can do the other three. I wont remind you again." She eyed the girl for a moment before moving on to watch other students who HAD been listening. OOC: (sorry she's so mean :3) Remember that you must make five posts with the required charms BEFORE the optional charms. After you make five posts with Scourgify, Poliotus, and Vitrumonium, then you can make up to three posts with the other charms for extra credit. Happy cleaning! <3 |

| Post 2 HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED She didn’t like that the room was so filth ridden. Really, it was just not fun having to deal with the filth and mess of dirty rooms. She frowned at the way the room looked before she figured what she would do next. Taking out her wand she twirled it in her hand before aiming it at the dirty desk nearest her.
“Scourgify” she pointed and watched as the dust cleared off, it was quite scratched and worn looking underneath that – and there was a bit of sticky stuff (gum…she hoped) under the desk. There was also quite a bit of a liquid like substance (drool maybe) on the top of the desk. She didn’t really want to know.
The house elf claw pointed her wand at the liquid and firmly spoke. “I'm going to tergro you” there. The liquid was going to be gone, fully gone, even if had smoked off a bit of the varnish on the desk. That could be fixed with a good amount of polish. The next thing she was going to clean of course - those windows.

Because, yes, Lottie had to look to see who was the person who'd decided to start with the spells that weren't precisely taught in class. And it was the Ravenclaw girl that got them caught in the forest.
So, maybe a small smirk appeared on her face as she polished another one of the desks. "Poliotus!" S-shape motion and all, there was no way she'd forget that they were supposed to be cleaning like house-elves. Did they just become Ivy Knox's personal elves?
NO. "Scourgify," she said, pointing at the corner. Oh, hey, floor, we finally see you. "Poliotus!" And see you shine. Lottie might have cleaned her robes too, there seemed to be dust caught in them somehow. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Kahlan Moriarty Second Year | Post 2 Already being tired with cleaning desks, and seeing that others were going around polishing them already she sighed, wishing the house elves would just come back and do their jobs.
Or the school would just get new house elves!
Honestly how hard was it?
But still, a bored look on her face she wandered over the the window, figuring that she try out the other 'required' spell that Professor Knox had put on the board. After all someone had to start cleaning the windows anyway. "Vitrumonia" she murmured, narrowing her eyes at the glass as it didn't clean, a few sparks coming out from her wand instead. Oh great, now her wand was sick of cleaning as well! "Vitrumonia" the blonde repeated, putting more strength behind her voice and nodding as her wand worked this time. Well... that was one less thing in the class room left to clean, and now to find a few other things so it looked like she actually was still interested in this class! |

Minerva had finished up on the few desks she was working on and noticed that most of the other desks were being cleaned by other students. No problem she thought, plenty of work in this room. She turned and as she went to walk looked down at her feet. Ewww The floors were looking very dirty and dust ball rolling around. Well..well.. well this just won't do now will it, pointing her wand "Scourgify", she watched as dust vanished and the floor was looking a little better.
Moving along the classroom, Minerva kept her eyes down at her feet and pointing her wand every few steps. "Scourgify" "Scourgify" Cleaning the dust up was really quite simple. She looked up wondering how the first years were doing. They should be set with these ones.
As her mind wondered, Minerva stopped paying attention to where she was walking and walked right into a cobweb hanging in he corner. Scrunching her nose she wiped it off her face then pointed her wand at the wall, "Scourgify". There one less cobweb to walk into.

Ah. Now that the area was clean, it was time to polish. Making the S movement with his wand and working out the obscene word again, "Poliotus!" The floor was squeaky clean. On to the walls. "Poliotus!", he said without effect. Concentrating harder and visualizing, "Poliotus!", he said firmly. There, that wall was polished. More to go. "Poliotus!", he said, hitting a fairly large section. Now to attend to the glass.

Complaining? Sonea had not complained about the cleaning stuff! No, she had not say anything about it! But now that she needed to clean this whole classrooms she WANTED to complain, but didn’t. She wanted to complain because she was NOT a house elf and if the professor wanted to have this classroom clean, why wouldn’t she do it for herself? It was HER classroom! Sonea had no problems with cleaning now that everything was so dirty here at Hogwarts, but it was bothering her now that she needed to clean in almost every lesson here on Hogwarts! She was happy that she could help the cleaning club but if she had wanted to do more than she would have said this to a teacher! But… Now she needed to clean AGAIN! With a sigh Sonea stood up from her chair and grabbed her wand, ready to do what she needed to do, and she DIDN’T complained out loud! “Where shall I start?” muttered Sonea while she looked around her, searching for a place where she could start with her task and decided to clean first a corner of the room, she suspected that there were spiders hidden there and she HATED spiders, so she wanted to remove them first before she would do something else.

Poliotus was easy and Kat was observing people while they practiced the charm. She had got the charm right in her first try and a few practices of the incantation. It wasn't like she had to practice, only because she didn't want to mess up... Okay, maybe that was still practice but yeah. That really wasn't the point. Kat didn't have space or room to make mistakes now especially with a professor like Professor Knox.
Hmm.
Okay. Cleaning time. BLEK. Kat actually hated cleaning, but she also hated how awfully dusty the place was. However she would rather live in a place dust-free than to tolerate how messed up Hogwarts was. They could start with the Charms classroom, since Professor Knox had intended it to be dirty. Pfft. She could just go clean that table over there before she could sneeze and get germs everywhere. Nope, there was also no space for germs. "Scourgify!" she said, pointing her wand at the dirty table and then it was clean just like how it should be. Ahem... moving on.

Welp.
This wasn't going to be too bad, especially since the entire class was cleaning the same room. They'd be done in no time. Besides, they were using magic to clean. It wasn't as if they were exerting tons of effort. Anyone making faces or complaining got curious looks. This wasn't that bad, yeah? Psh. Try summer cleaning with Gran if one wanted to complain! That was the worst. This was Christmas compared to that.
Looking around the room, Ella searched for a good spot to clean. She noticed that the back corners of the class had collected tons of dust and decided to start there. Seemed like the best option and it'd give her some room to work. She quickly headed over, pointing her wand at the first corner and saying clearly, "Scourgify!" TA-DA! Good as new.
Maybe after she did the other corner she could polish here too? Yeah.

Successfully casting the Scouring Charm on the used-to-be dusty table, Kat admired it for a moment. Just to make sure he charms skills did not fail her, the prefect ran her pointer finger over the surface of the table. Then she looked at the tip of her finger. See? No dust. So her charms skills were still as good as before. Well yes, she DID pass this OWL so there was no reason why she could just possibly suck at it. But right now, she had no time to waste. The Scouring Charm was just one of the many charms she could cast with ease. She still had a few more cleaning charms to use.
Kat thought for a moment that, since she had Scourgify'd the table, maybe she could use the Poliotus charm to polish it. You know, to add a better clean-ish effect. Yeah she could do that.
"Poliotus!" the Slytherin said while drawing a big S over the surface of the table. Then... yeah, it was obvious she got the charm right. The previously dirty table had its original shininess back. Awesome.

Ethan inwardly sighed as the professor lectured some of them about their attitude. It was true that he did have a rather poor attitude about today's lesson for a variety of reasons, but he had been polite enough to not voice that attitude. Certainly that was something, right? He would still do what was asked of him - and without complaining - but that didn't mean he had to like it.
He listened as a new spell was introduced.. and this was one he actually did not know. Hmm, maybe he actually would be learning something new today, even if it was more cleaning. Vitrumonia.. He took note of the proper incantation and wand movement, saying it in his head a few times. He then listened to their instructions. Cleaning the classroom.. no surprise there.
The boy wasn't exactly thrilled with the assignment, but he did secretly want to try out the new charm anyway so he headed towards one of the windows. They were filthy and it never failed to amaze him exactly how grimy and dirty the castle had gotten in just a matter of months without it being regularly cleaned. He pulled out his wand and pointed it at the top half of the window. "Vitrumonia!" he commanded, pulling the wand in a straight line. Instantly, the uppermost part of the window was clean and shiny, and the sun's rays shone through. Nice.
He repeated the motion on the lower half of the window. "Vitrumonia!" Again, the glass shone brightly as it was cleaned. Now the entire window was clear and sparkling. He had to admit that he was rather pleased with his work and the success of the spell, though he was sure he'd grow bored of this quickly. He looked around the classroom. Even with the entire class working, this place was still a mess.

Moving on from the cleaning of desks and even the floors. Making sure to watch where she was walking going, so not to walk into anymore more cobwebs. Minerva made her way to the windows. Looking at how dirty they had becomes. Seriously it was just one summer how was there so much dirt in this room. She began thinking the staff might have added extra just to help them with their lessons this term.
Pulling her wand up, Minerva did the movements and spoke clearly "Vitrumonia" She watched as the window became clear and light started to come through. Well that was looking better at least. Moving on to the next window Min felt another sticky mess on her hand. Looking she cringed, another cobweb really?! Pointing her wand at her hand "Scourgify" and then pointing it at the rest of the cobwell, "Scourgify" She was getting tired of this mess.

Right. So now Jory had a few windows cleaned but he still needed to get the frames cleaned as well. What was the use of just cleaning the windows themselves and forget the frames?
He decided he would use the two spells he had used to clean his desk. Starting with Scourgify. The Puffer pointed his wand to the window frame of the last window he had cleaned. "Scourgify!'' The frame was soon grime free. He moved on to the next frame and then the other. Soon, they too were dirt free.

So Kat was actually really satisfied with the fact that her was able to cast the Scouring Charm and the Poliotus (Polishing?) Charm on the table. Unlike before, the table was now clean and shiny all thanks to the Slytherin's efforts and charm skills. With that done, Kat looked around the room for another object to clean or polish. She took a trip around the classroom in order to do so. Not long later, she found a chair. Awfully disgusting as usual. It needed a but of cleaning so Kat decided to start off with the Scouring Charm.
"Scourgify!" Kat said and pointed at the chair. Oh look. Dust free. Just like what she did with the table earlier, Kat ran her pointer finger over its surface and inspected it. Her skills in charms did not fail her, not even once. Well, at least the chair now was safe to be seated on. No need to worry about dust on their bum.
Although it could use a little bit (or a lot even) of shininess... and polishing.

And now back to the Poliotus charm. Got to make the window frames look shiny after all. Because right now, even though they were looking clean, they still had this dull appearance. Much like their desks before it was polished.
Jory went over the incantation and wand movement in his head before raising his wand. "Poliotus!'' he said while slowing tracing his wand in the shape of an S. He watched as the frame was suddenly shiny and bright. "Good job, self.'' He moved on to the next frame. "Poliotus!'' Traced out an S. The same result happened there. Jory now finished off the other one.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Mena Dubois First Year | Post 2 (Question for the professor)
With her wand in her hand she stood in front of a LARGE cobweb with a big spider in the middle. The young girl shivered now that she stood so close to a spider, but… she needed to be strong, this spider and his cobweb needed to be cleaned and gone! The spider moved in his cobweb and she saw how the spider moved his large legs and… Sonea did quickly a step away from the cobweb, afraid that the spider would leave his web and that he would fall in her direction!
The young girl really HATED spiders, and nobody had ever been able to convince her that the spiders she was so afraid of were harmless and that they were probably more afraid of her than she was for them. No, Sonea had NEVER listened to the people who have tried to convince her, she always had ignored them, simply because they were wrong! Spiders were dangerous and some of them where even poisonous! The young girl had heard a story about a wizard who had died because of a spider bite and she had refused to come near them since then!
The young girl took a deep breath, pointed her wand at the cobweb and spoke the spell. “Scourgify!” Sonea saw with delight that the cobweb AND the spider were now gone. But… Sonea wondered for a moment where the spider had gone to, and now that she thought about it, where was all the dirt who had been removed? Was it just, gone? Forever? Or had it been moved to another place?
The young girl walked to the professor, she was really curious where all the dirt had gone to and smiled at the professor. “Professor, can I ask something? Where is all the dirt I have cleaned with the Scourgify charm? Is it just gone? Forever? Of is it transported to another place? I’m curious because, well… I have cleaned a cobweb WITH a spider and I’m curious if the spider is now dead, or not…” |

| #1 Arts TRANSPONSTER! .....What was that all about? Sophie was quite shocked with the professor's reaction. She had not noticed any complaints or anything and when the woman was done with her speech she looked around, confused. She knew those were simple and easy spells, but they were useful! Why were people complaining? Weird...
Anyhow, she should get to work now! Lovely! More practisinngggggg!! Woop!
Her desk was perfectly clean already, so Sophie had to move on. She looked turned around and looked at her chair. It wasn't as dusty as the desk had been, but still. "Scourgify!" The badger cleaned it with a wave of her wand, then did the S-shape movement. "Poliotus."
Sophie looked at the chair for a bit and considered the spell. Had it polished the whole chair or just the area she had run her wand through? Turning it around, the chair looked quite nice and shiny. Huh! Cool!

Now that the young girl had asked her question she looked around her for the next place she could clean and saw a window frame, the frame was totally covered with dust and it was so dirty that she even couldn’t seen the original color from the window frame! Quickly Sonea walked to the window frame and looked mindful at the dust, wondering what she could do first. She decided that it would be the best to clean the window frame FIRST before she would use the Poliotus charm.
But… Before Sonea tried to clean the window frame she checked first if there were no spiders and she pointed her wand at the frame. “Scourgify” said Sonea and she saw how the spell cleaned everything she wanted. “And now I need to use the Poliotus charm” said Sonea to herself.

| #2 Arts TRANSPONSTER! Next, Sophie looked under her desk and chair. That was an awful lot of dust, Merlin! It seemed like professor Knox had made the classroom even dirtier than it would naturally be. Gah!
Sophie scratched her nose a tiny bit after kneeling down, pushing the chair away. "Scourgify!" And some of the dust bunnies - eek! - were gone. But there were still a lot more around! Wut! So strange! Weren't all the students cleaning at the same time? How come it seemed like the more they cleaned, the more dust there was?? "Scourgify! Scourgify! Scourgify!" Sophie cast the same spell over and over as she crawled under the desks and chairs. Merliiiinnn, what was happening to Hogwarts???

Ethan smiled at the room. Most of the time, the spells had worked and the area he had been working on was squeaky clean. He repeated the glass cleaning spell in his mind over and over again. "Vitrumonia," "Vitrumonia," "Vitrumonia." Time to try it out. Walking up to a dusty, grimy window, "Vitrumonia!", he said while waving his wand over a section of the glass. A few more times and the window was grime-free. Feeling proud and quite confident, Ethan walked over to another dirty section of the room.
