| | Charms I When you walk into the Charms classroom, you will find it much like the rest of the castle; dirty, dusty, shabby. You will find dust bunnies, spiderwebs, and maybe even some webs with inhabitants in them. The grimy desks are in 6 straight rows, divided into two columns, facing the front of the room. The windows are closed, but the light shines through the dirty, spotted glass. Professor Knox is standing in front of her clean desk, watching the students file into the classroom. A closed box sits on the floor. Next to the professor is the chalkboard that says, in big, clean letters: "Sit down and be quiet." OOC: Class has now started! Please do not post your character arriving late, just pretend they've been in class the whole time! Please read the rules before posting. We'll know if you didn't. Class Progression:
1. Start of class / exploding dust / first question
2. Answers / Scourgify Review / New Charm: Poliotus / Activity
3. New Charm: Vitrumonia / Activity #2 This class will end on Monday, May 27th at 6 AM GMT. |

| Post #6 urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse So... the window was clean. Which meant that he had to move away from it and work on something else. Something that could probably let him work it other spells. Newer spells. Something he hadn't worked with before.
... So... he moved over towards the wall next to the window, which was also covered in grime. A small frown formed across the boy's lips as he took a closer look at the wall. You needed to have a closer look at these things to figure out exactly what spell to use, right? So that was what he was doing. And if he wasn't so disgusted by how dirty the wall was -- really, how did the middle of a WALL get dirty?! -- he would have been a little happy with himself.
... But... dampness. Liquidy. So Tergeo, yeah? He lifted his wand and... hesitated. He didn't need to use Scourgify before it, right? Just Tergeo? ... Tergeo. Tergeo tergeo tergeo! And if that didn't work then Scourgify. "Tergeo!" he said pointing his wand towards the middle of the dampness on the wall. The steady siphoning off of the dampness was matched with a steady grin that was spreading across Alec's face. How awesome was this?
Also... Tergeo. Hey. Not too bad of a spell.

| Post 8 Who Am I? Ern's 2460FUN Ascanius narrowed his eye at this window. Y U NO WORK WINDOW? No me gusta. Pfft. Well, he didn't care. Whatever.
GLARE. Could you work now? Huh? Maybe it was just a delayed reaction and the thing would work in a second. Or a few. He could be patient. Ha except no. Work now or else he was going to break through this window now.
He drew his wand and said angrily, "Vitrumonia!" C'mon, work now, work. AND HUZZAH IT DID. Psh, he knew it would work. He's awesome.
So he was standing there with all smirks as the window began to clear itself and the sunshine came in. He was sitting down now. Ascanius Stark was done.

Tables and chairs were done. Both cleaned and polished, which made them look like they were new and shiny and stuff. Kat liked the cleanliness of it all, but she still didn't want to clean. No complaining though. SIGHS. What else was she supposed to clean in here and use the Glass Cleaning Charm? Probably a window, because that seemed to be the only glass thing in this room. Unless somebody had brought a glass thingy and then yeah, maybe she could use it on that if it was dirty.
Kat went over to the window at the side of the room. Eek... so dirty. Remind her to stare cleaning the windows in their common room so that it wouldn't look as ugly as this. CRINGE. Ahem, anyway... she wasn't going to make faces now. She had a window to clean (oh that sounded so Muggle-ish). "Vitrumonia!" Kat waved her wand and then traced the sides of the window... well, the sides she can only reach. The places her wand had traced her all clean and shiny. It still needed more cleaning though, but she would let the others finish that off. Hehe. She had other spells to try out.

Dylan was done...or wanted to be done...but as he made his way back to his seat, other messes kept catching his attention. Naturally, he just HAD to stop and clean them. This was HIM they were talking about. NO MESS WOULD GO UNCLEANED EVER. It was against his....cleanliness rule.
That tiny patch of grime on the floor? Yea, Dylan didn't think so. "Scourgify!" Spots of dust on that nearby shelf? Not happening. "Scourgify!" Wet somethings on that desk? Got it. "Tergeo!"
He was just casually casting and performing spells as he neared his desk. It looked like she was about to end class, anyway...So, they wouldn't have much time left to do anything.
OH. MORE DUST.
Dylan pounced on another desk, seeing some last minute dust. "Scourgify!!" Bam! Some more dust BITES the dust...Huh huh!

Alice liked to thing she was clever enough to do extra spells when she finished, so she immediately began Tergeo-ing after polishing was completed. What to clean, though? Almost everyone had gotten all the corners and desks and chairs and windows and things, but one other thing she'd spotted was people casting Impervius on books. She headed over there quickly, but not with that spell in mind. Instead, she began pulling them off the shelves before she revealed some of the bookcase.
Was it dirty?
Who cared? She could cast on it anyway. "Tergeo. Tergeo. Ter-ge-o." Was it siphoning everything off? Alice didn't pause to check, instead performing the spell as quickly as possible, replacing books as she went. Seemed good enough, right?

The glass wasn't sleek. NAW, it wasn't supposed to be like that. Might as well make it shiny. GLEAM.
She pointed her wand at the not-so-clean glass. Now, the disease spell. Go straight wand. ZWISH! "Vitrumonia!"
Now why does this spell always not work? She tapped her wand to the desk. TUT. "Vitrumonia!" And then she remembered. OH C'mon, nice and loud.
Wave straight.... "VITRUMONIA!" Now that was a good charm. She could tell it was perfect cause the glass was close to perfect-o. SMIRK.
YAY! Zyanya was missing class...and she was going to regret later. GRIN.

Deletrius was next on her list, the disintegrating spell. After Tegeo-ing the bookcase, Alice tried thinking of things to use that spell on, which was rather difficult. .. what, like disintegrating.. dirt or something? That didn't make any sense, so she got on her hands and knees and began crawling under desks, looking for things that actually needed Deletrius-ing. What were others using it for? She tried to take peeks, but it was rather hard, and nothing was coming to mi-
Oh, was that a tissue in the corner there?
It was! "Deletrius!" Disintegrated.

Now that she finished all the required spells and charms she should do, Kat was going to do the other optional charms. Just for the fun and to learn something you know. It would probably be helpful since Hogwarts was a mess right now. Oh, the things she'd do to keep the places in here clean. It wasn't just for her benefit though, it was for everyone... but she was sort of only thinking about certain people *cough* Slytherins *cough*. Looking at the board, Kat read the different optional charms.
HMM. Kind of easy. She'd try Tergeo because that was the easiest of them all. Hehe.
And yeah, she was going to siphon something. Like that wet thing over there. Oh yes, Katty can see you from afar. The Slytherin went over there and eyed the wet thingy for a moment. You'll be gone now, loser. Smirk. "Tergeo!" And then it was gone, all siphoned up. Byebye.

| Post #7 urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse Since he was done with the dampness of the wall... did that mean that the wall was clean? More or less? ... How did you even know whether a wall was properly clean or not?
... "Scourgify!" he said, pointing his wand at the wall. You know, just to be on the safe side. Nodnod. Now he could move on to...
... Spider? BLINK.
There. Just hanging down from a silky web was a small spider. Alec frowned as the spider started spinning down from its web, almost as if mocking him. Because he really didn't know what to do right about now. ... Actually, that was a lie. He knew what he had to do, he just didn't want to do it. It was that vacuum cleaner situation all over again.
Deletrius... deletrius... It sounded like a hard spell, actually. Really hard. And the fact that the object he needed to get rid of was small made it even harder. Alec closed his eyes and, hoping against hope that the spider didn't move, called, "Deletrius!" ... Had it worked? Yes? No?
... No.
The spider had actually moved from its original spot. Talk about being difficult. The Hufflepuff took another deep breath and aimed his wand again and... waited. Give the spider the benefit of the doubt, yeah? Make it think that he wasn't going to aim a spell at it? And then... when it wasn't moving anymore... "Deletrius!"
YES. GRIN GRIN GRIN.
The spider was gone and... was he free?

Tergeo done. Okay, Kat was watching her watch too. That was like a few minutes left. The Slytherin hurried a bit and looked for a potential victim to her awesome charms skills. And ewewewew her book was ugly. It needed cleaning. Like ASAP. She didn't want dirty and wet books you know so yeah, it was both for cleanliness and safety reasons to clean them.
HURRY UP KAT.
"Impervius!" she cast on the book and... oooooooooh, clean and dry. Whatever. That was good now, all good. Book was safe, and so was Kat because if she didn't do that spell she would be a victim to dirtiness.
Heh.

Last spell. Whew. Okay. One more. Alice was READY, okay?
.. did desks need to be waterproofed? Or better yet, chairs? Did anything scary happen in charms lessons? Like, things that caused children to have accidents in class? Being a Gryffindor and all, she found the thought absolutely ridiculous, but it seemed like a good idea to Impervius seats, just in case. Not her OWN seat, obviously, but the seats of some more fidgety children. "Impervius." Seat protected. She returned to her own non-Imperviused chair and resumed doing nothing at all. That was so much effort. Alice deserved a medal or something, she thought. No one even forced Hufflepuffs to clean for them or anything.
Someone had to tell the Headmistress.

One more charm to practice and Kat was officially done with this whole Charms thingy activity. The last one would be 'Deletrius'. The disintegration charm you know. Not too bad, hmm, and it was useful too. And... STARE. Her eyes saw something. A... wrapper of some sort of food. OOOOH... was somebody eating in class? Hehe. There was proof now. Look at that.
Shifty Kat was shifty. She wanted to know who did that. But anyway, it should be gone now. Good bye, wrapper.
"Deletrius!" The Slytherin said and cast the spell on the wrapper. Disintegrated now. It was gone, and hopefully away from Hogwarts. Like... maybe in a trash bin outside of Scotland so that Kat could never see it again. Like ever. She had done enough cleaning now.

Most students had finished their part by then, so Ivy started to walk back up to the front of the class. On her way, she saw the Slytherin boy with his hand up and nodded for him to speak.
Ah, another good question. She had not personally tried these charms with extra suffixes, but she nodded. "In theory, yes, those suffixes would indeed make the charms stronger. They would work exceptionally well on tougher spots to clean. The Impervious charm would also provide protection much longer with the added suffix of -maxima, -duo, or even -tria." Very good question indeed. Ivy nodded and continued her on her way.
Once she got to the front of the classroom, Ivy spoke loudly for her students to hear. "Attention class!"
When she had their attention, she continued, "You all did quite well today; the classroom now looks much better than it did before. For homework, you all must write an essay on the three main spells we went over today and three different ways or places you could use them. Scourgify, Poliotus, and Vitrumonia, and I want a paragraph for each spell, understood?"
Good? Good. "Class dismissed!" Now, get out. She was tired. OOC: Thanks so much for coming and participating. Click here for the official HW assignment and how to submit. PM me if you have questions! |
