Located on the grounds along the Black Lake with the Forbidden Forest to the left as you face the lake is a VERY large transparent tent with various "rooms" to utilize while you complete your Astronomy homework without having to face the cold January night. There is a large central "room" with cushions for students to sit on or lay against while they look to the heavens and in a "room" off to the right is a humble firepit - charmed, of course, to not expand and burn the place down - along with a table of food and snacks to help you make it through the night. You will only find campout foods here, such as things to make s'mores and hot dogs, but Professor Flamsteed has also brought ice cream upon many a students' request. There is also a small assortment of hot and cold drinks - including coffee - for you to choose from.
While the idea of a sleepover with your classmates outside may seem like a lot of fun, do not forget that you are here to do your homework and that Professor Flamsteed is present.
OOC: This thread is meant for those students wishing to complete their Astronomy homework. You DO NOT need to have participated in the lesson to do so and can still play in here if you wish.
The image of the night sky is NOT a map provided by Professor Flamsteed. Instead imagine your character looking up and seeing that - only obviously without the labels.

"I will." She said a bit distractedly. Really there wasn't much room for her arguing about her kneazle. The Professor seemed deathly afraid of her baby and she was still happy that with shrieking like that he didn't drain the Gryffindor Hourglass. That would have defeated the purpose of all the homework she'd done.
"I think I managed to find them all again." So there was something. OH! ICE-CREAM!!! Yes!!! She almost forgot she'd been eating some with all the man!shrieking that was going on. Ice-cream was good stuff. Mhm mhm mhm. Picking up her bowl, she kept her gaze on the night sky. For some reason she thought something epic would happen and she would miss it if she looked away for even a second.
You know, like a meteor plummeting to earth or or or a black hole suddenly forming, sucking them slowly to their doom.
It would have sucked to miss something like that. Though could you really? Half the people in this tent were screamers; the Professor was a screamer. Yeah, watching or not, she'd notice.
Lex wibbled when she put the spoon to her mouth and found it empty a couple minutes later. Where did her ice-cream go???
She needed more! This was going to be a LOOOONG night.

With her cup tea in her hand the young girl sat back down and tried to concentrate again on the stars above her in the sky, just when she heard how the professor was angry because there was a pet inside the tent… Worried that the professor would have seen that she had smuggled Little princess with her, but safe and hidden inside her pocket. But no, the professor was looking in another direction and she talked to a Gryffindor student. Relieved that the professor didn’t had noticed that she had ignored the words from professor Flamsteed and that she had brought her rat Little princess stubborn inside the tent, she relaxed. She knew that Little princess was still hidden inside her pocket because she felt how her rat was sleeping, warm and not moving.
And because the young girl didn’t wanted to focus too much attention on herself while she watched the professor, she looked again at the sky and tried to find another constellation. She already knew where Cassiopeia was, that was one of the five, she knew that Ursa Minor was located above Polaris, so she had found this constellation also without too much trouble. “But where is Draco” muttered Sonea and tried to find the constellation she KNEW would be near Ursa Minor, but where?
Laura looked around the sky. "You know Professor I can't seem to do this but i'm happy anyway because I'm learning it's hard to find things." Laura smiled so she was finding it hard but who cares it was fun which was all that mattered to her, except for the fact she didn't have much ice-cream left, she looked at the sky and smiled. "OMG Professor I found Polaris." Laura was happy but now she had to find two more but how, where was Minnie when you needed her, surely she could help her.
Okay, so she may have arrived late, but she'd lost track of...(wait for it)...time. Quite literally, since Peeves had been playing with the clocks again and made her forget all about this.
Anyway, she still came down and the stars were still up, so she could still do some stargazing.
It was super relaxing, right? RIGHT.
So, Lottie's wand was still in her hand, in case she wanted to look at something faaaaar, faaar away. That probably wouldn't be the case, but still. She also brought some charts to help her identify something in case she didn't know what it was. But Professor Airey was here, he'd be most helpful, surely. And he got a wave before she plopped down on the ground.
Up. Looking up. Why, THAT one was Orion's belt, which...after connecting the stars would mean that...the whole constellation was Orion.

Well guess she didn't have to bring her own, but she almost pushed it in his face to see. "I brought my own, but I could always add more. Never enough Ice Cream now is there." She scooped up some and put it with her chocolate she had already in her hands.
Following Jory out of the tent with her ice cream forgetting about if there was anything else, she turned her eyes to the sky. Then snapped her blue eyes back at him, "You can do that? Seriously.. You can make yourself a constellation. That is so cool!!" Now she wanted to make herself a constellation, because that would be awesome.. but.. but.. "Then you would be stuck in the sky and I can't be stuck in the sky, I have to be here with Ethan and with everyone else.. NO forget it I'm not going to be a constellation." She laughed, "But do you know Daichi and I found an ice cream constellation." because they totally did even if Professor Flamsteed said they didn't.
She looked up at the sky again, "It's the Minichi constellation it's around here some where." Finding Polaris again she started looking for it. "There.. there it is, the Minichi constellation aka the ice cream constellation." Yep it was totally there no matter what anyone said.
Jory enjoyed laughing so much. But it sounded so weird at the same time. He and Min had such different laughs. Min, Min, Min. Hehe. Was min short for something? Right now he couldn't remember, being so caught up in this sudden burst of hyperness. Was that even a word? O_o
"I agreeeee! Never too much ice cream! Chocolate all the way, Min!'' Of course, all flavours were awesome but chocolate was the best! And it was true. They would be stuck in the sky. "Maybe we could ask them to join us?'' the boy asked. He would make sure he got his Ronnie to go with him. Jory gaped at Min. An ice cream constellation? "You must show it to me, Min! Do you think there's ice cream up there?'' because that would be way cool! He scrambled to take a look at Minichi when Min pointed it out. "Cool! Minichi..that's a combination of yours and Daichi's name, right?''
..........
Now, Jory turned back to his Astronomy book. His mind was once again being plagued by the need for ice cream. "After I'm done here,'' he told himself. Right. So, he now had to find a constellation of his choice. Which to choose? "I think I'll go with Pisces.'' Yep. That would do. He turned his eyes once more to the sky.
Oh, she was good at this! The second year old had already found Draco, she had discovered that the constellation was really easy to find and she also knew that she had already done more work than she had needed to do, but because she had still time to do something she wanted to do more! With a smile she wrote a few notes on her parchment and WANTED to find one last constellation before the class would end. She wanted to find the constellation Cepheus, she knew that the constellation was near the other constellations she had found and that it didn’t would be difficult to find it. And yes, after a few minutes of searching she had found the last constellation, she had found them all!
Sonea’s smile widened when she made her final notes and stopped suddenly, she remembered what she had wanted to do during the lesson and looked quickly around her, checking if professor Flamsteed was watching her and grabbed her wand. “Oculo Focalis!” whispered Sonea while she made the right wand movement and wrote her name as small as possible somewhere in the middle of the parchment, “Sonea Duvessa”. She was curious if the professor would be able to see it with her normal sight, and if not… than she had found a good way to cheat on some exams! She quickly spoke a spell to undo the Oculo Focalis spell and smiled, she was done!
Lottie was focused, okay? She just often forgot what exactly was she supposed to be looking at as far as the stars go. Funny how it always seemed to be Polaris what she forgot.
BUT LOOK!
She squinted as she counted more stars...that one was the constellation of Draco, one she could identify quite clearly. No idea why, she just does. It was the first one she encountered back at the lesson, and...not the first one tonight, but second was close enough.
Her hand traveled through each of the stars and then did the same with Draco's tail. She did it again, just because it was a very pretty constellation, was it not? Pisces was very much alike Draco, but she didn't fancy that one as much.

Marigold was late to begin stargazing, but at least she had ice cream.
Hmm... she should find Polaris first, right? She tried to look where she saw it during class, but it was a little different. She did find it, though, and was happy to see the bright star twinkling at her.
She got up to get hot chocolate, as a reward.

Reason: Forgot to label post :/
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
With a very quick look around, Daichi noticed something. It were the lack of Slytherin students. He'd only seen Sky and Sonea though he was pretty sure idiot Dylan and West would show up later ...they always did but still... WHERE WERE ALL THE SNAKES?!
Huffing, the Prefect shook his head as he looked up at the sky through the bubble he was in. He never really realized how beautiful the night sky could be. Mostly, he just watched it as part of a lesson but now that he REALLY looked he had the feeling to lay down on the grass and simply stare till sunrise.
That was not going to earn him points though so he pushed the thought aside and begun. First step was to find Polaris right? Without the use of magic... With his finger, he began to trace the stars in the sky, searching.
He quickly found the Ursa Minor that he remembered from class earlier and trailed his finger a little bit down until... TAADAAAA~ Polaris!
Now it was time for the spell. Sarah rgrimaced, thinking of the eye drops that would be needed afterwards. Thoughm the memory of previous eyedrop administration was a good one - it was quite funny, if it had not been torturous for Sarah.
She closed her eyelids gently and waited until they calmed down and relaxed. " Oculo Focalis" she said indicating at her eyes with her wand. She then opened her eyes again. WHOA, this did take time being used to, so she helped herself to some more treats at the food table.
Feeling full she lay on her back and looked at the stars... if she did it this way she would not have to worry about hitting her head again. Her headache had thankfully gone away yet she was still nervous. It was a good thing she never got concussed.
Where was poloris? She scanned the sky some more.. there is was. Perfect. She had found it so easily and then she remembered she was meant to use the method learned in class. The professor would not know that she used her own methods yet in Sarah;'s mind, honesty was the best policy. She closed her eyes and then opened them again and *using the method she learnt in class she rediscovered Poloris. Now she was honest which was great.

After Kace had his ice cream and his hot coco, he was getting sleepy. He felt full and content looking at the stars. He was still admiring Leo Minor and then he realized he needed to look for more stuff. He wanted to challenge himself and look for planets now!
Alright Kace....scan....scan....scan....scan.....Well he found the moon. No big surprise there. Well the moon wasn't a planet so he had to find something else. But wait right next to the moon there was Neptune. Oh it was a sneaky little devil. Kace checked his map to be sure and he was right. Neptune was right there. He thought it was soo cool O___O. He crossed Neptune off his list. He beamed and he was almost done with the assignment. Then he found a constellation named Gemini. He remembered them being astrological sings not constellations but then again they originated as constellations....
He check the list and new there was one more planet to look for. He was determined to find it.

Ella was still gazing up at the stars when Professor Airey had a mini freak out and the blonde sat up straight, eyes on the suit-man. What in Merlin's beard was he on about, anyway?
O__o
...Was he scared of Alexa's Kneazle? N'aww, but it was so cute! Even cuter, though, was Professor Romanos coming to save the day. Heh. This was like a real life romance novel! Grin.
Taking a break from her assignment, the blonde casually doodled a nice little sketch in her notebook.
When she was finished, she GRINNED at her work and flipped back to her notes. Time to get back to work.

So was the Sky slytherin girl going to want ice cream with them or not... She was waiting for an answer, but then Professor Flamsteed was talking. Was he giving instructions.. No.. He was telling her to quiet down.. Always fun and was his birthday professor say what? "Oh professor we are just soooo excited about stars, and all your awesome lessons, and find the stars especially Minichi ice cream constellation. We didn't mean to be loud, it's just exciting to get out and find these AWESOME stars."
Big smile at the professor..
"Would you like some ice cream while your tending to the other students professor I could so totally run and get you some." Because she could just so happen get herself some as "OMG DAICHI!!!" Look everyone it was that super cool snake that she didn't know was super cool until the Astronomy class, "Did you know there was Ice cream here Daichi and our fabulous constellation is right up there.. It's still there.. see... we were right.. yes.. yes we were."
Now Jory was asking her where it was.. could he not see it. .*blink* *blink* really Jory it was right there. She pointed.. "There.. right there... next to that other one..What is that one.." She looked closer and then turned around a few times. "Hey this is fun" She kept spinning in circles like little kids did looking up at the sky.
Oh... yikes
She was dizzy.. super dizzy..Putting her hands up to her face she winced form the dizzy. "I'm alright... I'm alright... She giggled, but what was she doing again, oh yes telling Jory where Minichi was. It's right there next to that other constellation.. I umm Cassiopeia THAT'S IT.. It's Cassiopeia. See Minichi is right next to that." Yes she was Astronomy smart yet again, and why was that, DUH WINNING!!

Oooh that would make sense with the not finding it!
“Hey Macabre,” she smiled before glancing over to her friend, because there was only one person ever called her Creepy.
When she did glance over at him she was about to laugh and then she saw how tired he looked. She did blink when she saw him. “You look tired – you want some tea its Yerba Mate” she nodded. Yep she probably needed none of it because she was always bubbly like soda or any other fizzy uplifting thing you could think of.
“Right and finding –“ a blank look (her thinking look) crossed her face, “ursa minor in order to find it” she nodded over to him as she set forth to find both Ursa Minor and Polaris. Tipping her head back at the sky she pointed at a long constellation “isn’t that draco? If it is that means that ursa minor is near by and usra major is somewhere in that general area” she shrugged. For all she knew she could have been eyeing up Camelopardalis or Perseus or any slew of different constellations.
Mo followed Mika's pointing finger until he spotted Draco right... out from where she was indicating. And somewhere in that general area meant that Draco was splitting the difference between Ursas Major and Minor, and the end of the tail was in line with Polaris. He followed Draco until he found the end and then used that to find Ursa Minor and Polaris. So he was awesome. Just saying.
"Do you see it? Right... okay, lean in and follow where I'm pointing." He leaned over from his cushion until he was leaning against Mika, and then Mo pointed his finger up at Polaris. If she sighed along his arm, she'd be able to find it quite easily.
Ethan was late to the campout, but it couldn't be helped. He had late rounds to do and needed to finish his duties before he could attend. Though now that he had arrived and gave it any thought, it was odd for him to have to do rounds at all at this time.. the castle was empty with the students out here doing their homework. Not that it mattered much now.
The 17 year old wandered down to the lake and spotted the transparent tent. That was sort of weird, but cool at the same time, he supposed. The place was huge, he realized, as he entered.. enough to hold many students, though it did seem rather crowded. He first made his way over to the food table, feeling his stomach growling. Awesome.. there were s'mores? And, oh! Coffee! He grabbed one of each then found a less crowded location to begin his observations.
First things first, he needed to find Polaris. He lifted his eyes to the sky. It would be easiest to find that one if he found the constellation within which it was located.. Ursa Minor. That was a relatively easy one to locate and after just a moment his eyes followed the stars in the shape of ladle.. yep, that was it. And now.. Seriously?
Ethan spun his head around in the direction of the very loud and familiar voice. What was she doing?? He stood and watched in sheer disbelief as his girlfriend spun around and around. There was something seriously wrong. She would have never acted this way in class.. like she had in the last Astronomy lesson.. and here she was acting completely mental yet again. And he was worried.. there was something going on with her and he couldn't figure it out.
The last time he expressed his concerns, he was successfully distracted, but he needed to get to the bottom of her seemingly affected mental state. There was just something off and he didn't like it.. it was upsetting to think there might be something wrong. Walking over to her, he put his hands on the shoulders of the dizzy girl and looked her in the eye and said, "Minerva.. what is going on? I know you like schoolwork but it's not like you to be so hyper and loud in class.. I'm really worried about you."

So Mo was leaning into her to show her where Polaris was since she had been having a hard time finding it. So leaning over so she could follow where he was pointing to she just smiled. “Oh awesome – I don’t know why I was looking off that way…just watching the slight movement of the stars I think?” She shrugged and smiled over to him.
“Well, I don’t know if I have a direct favorite so to speak?” She chuckled, “I do love Lynx because Ella, Alec and I used it to make our Asterism last term – you can see a feint cloak-like shape near by” she smiled as she pointed out the slight shape of a fluttering cloak in the stars. “I also really like Corona Borealis” she glanced up at the constellation that was lightly above and to the right of Draco. “probably cause it’s the shape of a crown – do you have a favorite?” She asked as she took her mug of tea and took a quick sip of it.

Still looking up at the sky hoping Jory finally saw that amazing awesome constellation that she and Daichi names, Minerva felt hands on her shoulders and then hot keeper boyfriend was in front of her. "ETHAN when did you get here." She jumped hugging him. Oh but boyfriend didn't see happy, well that just wasn't good. "What is going on?? Well we are here to look up there and find that star there.. see it.. It's Polaris in case you didn't know." She pointed for him like he didn't already know the directions. "Then we have to find the other constellations like in class aaaannnnddd don't forget to find that awesome new one Minichi, because yeah it's awesome and yeah Daichi and I named it."
She looked around was she hyper, she was just having fun, "E lighten up.. It's fun to find the stars, this class is just fun and exciting." Worried about her.. why on earth would he be worried she felt awesome. She put her hands on his shoulders and looked into those gorgeous green eyes "I'm worried about you... You aren't having fun.. you need to have fun and your not eating ice cream. That could be the problem. Why don't I get you some, it will help." She chuckled a bit.

OH she was a liiitle bit late. But that was only because she wasn't sure what to bring with her to the stargazing camp. Then she remembered that on the notice board the Professor mentioned that he'll prepare stuffs. So she didn't have to bring food. especially with her limited allowance those days. Did the Professor know he was making her a huge favor.
To the grounds she headed her hands in her pockets wondering where the camp was. See she remembered something about it being near the lake. Not a couple of wondering minutes passed before she spotted the tent as well as students. Also the two professors. Picking up her pace, the fourth year made her way there.
Phewww! Hadn't run in a while!
Anyway, look at this pretty tent. Cassia stood out and nodded approvingly before stepping inside where everyone was.
Everyone in there earned a smiiiiiile. She'd gladly say hi to them one by one but then she'd get distracted and waste her time and not stargaze at all. Yeah. That much.
Settling in, Cassia dropped her bag to the ground. She didn't know why but she thought to bring her textbook and book. And other stuffs. Totally not astronomy-related but they were to be kept in the bag. Till needed.
So where was that Polaris? The fourth-year looked up at the sky and staaaaared.

Oh lookie! It was his Slytherin friend! "Haiiii, Daichi!'' Jory waved goofily. Min seemed to have spread her hyperness. He was fine until she came. Not that he minded. Hyper was good. Real good.
"I'm sorry,'' Jory apologized. Min was looking at him as if her were blind. He followed her directions and eventually found it. "I seeee it!'' It was super cool Min & Daichi found it. "Are you okay?'' Spinning was good too. Maybe they both could try it some time? See who lasts longer without collapsing out of dizziness?
Jory reluctantly focused back to the sky. He was looking for Pisces. "Pisces, Pisces,'' he kept repeating. It was a funny word. "Found it!'' He pointed it out excitedly as if he had just discovered gold. Awesome! He liked these sort of activities. Puffs were good at finding things, after all.

Cassia liked stargazing but couldn't deny that there was one thing that counted as a down side. She simply got lost in thought and forgot why she was staring at the sky. Blinking up a couple of times she remembered that she was looking for Polaris. That she could do. But first, she got up and headed towards the table with the snacks.
Umm…nope. Not going to have ice-cream, seriously it wasn't the weather for ice-cream what’s with the people. Did they wish to visit the Healer very much? She wasn't one to be missed much y'know. Instead she just grabbed cookies and went back to her spot.
Crossing her legs as she leant on the cushion, Cassia looked up at the sky and paused remembering what they discussed in class about finding Polaris. So first she must find Ursa Minor.
Squinting her eyes, the snake kept searching the sky with her eyes. And it was pretty with all the stars and dark sky. She wasn't going to complain if it took long.
OH OH! Is that a pot! Yes, it is. Wooot! She just found Ursa Minor. Polaris should be around the corner, Mhhm. Piece of cake this stargazing!

Sarah thought that she should find Cassopia, after all it was said to be the easiest ones. She looked below the north star an found what she was looking for. What else should she find..the super hero constellation, as she wanted to see what it looked like now. She searched back to the North Star. What was the constellation called again - Ursa Major! Sarah thought it should be called Ursa Super, after all it looked like a superhero putting his arm out. Yet as no one had consulted her about the naming of the constellations she could only call it Ursa Super in private, and not change anyone elses textbooks.
She looked a bit north of poloris and a bit to the side and there was "I found Ursa Super" she crowed, oh wait she said that out loud? MAJOR mistake. Sarah pretended that nothing had happened as she went to get a cup of hot chocolate. Yummy, she began to lap it up before she remembered her manners and tried to sip like a lady, yet she was so thirsty she gulped it down very loudly. That was unintentional yet Sarah could not be bothered.
She used her tongue to lick off a choclate beard and sat down again.
Marigold stared back into the sky. She had already found Ursa Minor and Draco, what should she find next?
Oooh... was that Hercules? She racked her brain. Yes, it sure looked like it! And there was Lyra, too.
Cookie time?
Kace was still looking at the night sky and then he saw Marigold in the dome. Kace went over to eat some cookies and he grinned and said, "Fancy meeting you here out of all places." He got some cookies to get rid of his craving and then went back to do the last bit of the assignment.
He looked at the sky and then saw Pluto. Wow....it was soo cool! He loved it! He was even starring at it for a while. Then he wanted to find one some constellations in the process.
