Having found Polaris, Mo could check off Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. Polaris was in Ursa Minor, and he'd used Ursa Major to find it. Or part of it... Ursa Major spread out beyond the 'Big Dipper' he'd used to find Polaris. But anyway... Ursa-finding pro in the house, and now he could move on to something more difficult.

Mo lowered his gaze and glanced at his classmates, but they all looked so strange with his eyes bespelled that he couldn't do it for very long. He shifted his gaze back to the sky. Immediately, his eyes went to Cepheus. Of course he knew where that asterism was, considering he was ALSO a pro at finding it.

Honestly. If he could be paid to find things in the sky, he would never go hungry. Was that a real job?

Okay. Awesome! This was the activity they were preparing for. And they got a list of the stars, constellations and whatnot. She suddenly felt like the time she'd transfigured that shoelace into an umbrella, remember? The umbrella had the night sky inside. So, Lottie knew her constellations well.

Her goal was to find Polaris, though. Seemed simple enough, right? Right! Was Professor Flamsteed preparing them for an adventure in the forest, though?! BECAUSE HE SHOULD TOTALLY TAKE THEM! And bring ice cream and food.

Oculo Focalis. Oculo Focalis.


MAN, she was taken by the stars, and had a big smile on her face. HAHA, she'd forgotten what it was she was looking for, she was simply stargazing and joining stars dots with her eyes. Thank you, Airey, this was a pretty useful spell.

The textbook was a bit harder to read as a result of the spell cast on her eyes. Everything in it just looked really big and it was all giving her a headache. She would have to use the book sparingly so as to avoid an end of class migraine.

From what she could tell the polaris thing was just...over...there?...Maybe there...? Lex looked to the sky again. It'd probably prove more helpful without the textbook that was only hurting her eyes at the moment. Let's see...THERE! That had to be polaris, right??? That was it right there????? She thought to check the text, just to make sure she was right but then she remembered the headache that was almost sure to present itself.

Alright. For the sake of moving on she would assume that thing was Polaris...technically, if it wasn't it was very similar. They could maybe be twins, those got mixed up all the time so no one would be able to blame her really.

It was bright and pretty, she'd give it that!

Alright was it a bad thing that the song going through her head while looking up at those beautiful stars…was kind of sad? There out in the darkness… she thought to herself, smiling a bit as she turned around and glanced at them, the stars blinking and twinkling above them like little crystals, hanging from black velvet, catching the light and twinkling down their happy shimmers of – she blinked and stopped her thoughts on the stars and their utter beauty.

Because she needed to find Polaris, slipping her eyes along Draco one more time until she hit that one section – and her eyes were too tired to see it properly now. Her smile brightened as she found Ursa Minor, there! She had found the dipper…and slipping her bespelled eyesight along the dipper from each point until she reached the handle.

It looked so beautiful and twinkly up there. Polaris! She had found it! That was great, she was happy that she had at least found Polaris.

Look at all the stars. N'awww, this was a definite WIN. Couldn't all classes be like this? Her eyes flicked momentarily to Airey (or the general area in which he stood) and she wondered how he must have felt. The stars were a BIG dream, it probably hadn't been easy for him to accept that this is as close as he can get to them.

GRANTED, one could only land on planets, but you get the idea.

Gosh. Wait. Finite. Finite. Her eyesight was all blurry and her eyes itchy. Hey! She was supposed to be finding somethiiiiing! So, her eyes stopped by her textbook for a bit, and then she used the spell again. "Oculo Focalis." Swish, tap. Off to find Polaris!

"Ooooh, cool." That was definitely Draco. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. She liked dragons. ^^

A scavenger hunt sounds interesting. If only I'm not that bad in finding stars, Nat thought. She actually like this whole lesson, finding stars and stuff, but she just can't see them. There are like thousands of stars out there, and you can't expect her to see them instantly. It takes time.

With her still charmed-to-focus eyes, she looked out the window. Groups of stars came to focus, but they are still meaningless to her. She tried to look for Polaris, the one that doesn't move that much, by literally staring at the sky and try to find the centre of the circular motion of the stars.

It did not work out well.

A new task? The young girl looked at professor Flamsteed and listened to what he was telling. She saw the list on the map she needed to do and… she stiffened, this was a LOT work, especially now that she only knew one or two stars from the map! The second year shifted in her seat and was relieved that it would be no problem if she didn’t succeed because… She knew that she would have failed otherwise…

But, she had NO time to sit still and to worry about the new task and wrote quickly the spell on her parchment she needed to use when she was done. She already felt that her eyes started to feel tired so she wanted to make sure that she knew how to undo the spell.

Sarah liked scavvenger hunts, although she preferred them with clues.T his was more like a 'Where's Wally Book". You had to spot the contellations which was easy said then done. Which one should she look for first?

North star, after all she had found it in the past. She looked up at the sky. She was so tiny compared to the universe. It dwarfed her. It was quite a humbling experience yet it was more humbling experience when Sarah realised that she had gotten distracted.

Her eyes scanned the sky and then she saw it, poloris. It should be part of Ursa Minor, therefore Ursa minor was not difficult to find. So she had found one of the main constellations on the board.

Now Draco shuold be just a above it so Sarah looked.Indeed there was Draco, looking kind of like a matchstick bended as a wire. Pretty cool.

Not wanting Major to get left out, Sarah resumed her search, using polris as her starting point. From her textbook Ursa Major looked a like a person in a superhuman stance or like a locust...... There is was! Great she had found four of the main ones already.

Still not finding it. She had basically given up on trying to find it on the map. Because difficult map was being difficult. But, turns out that just randomly scanning the skies wasn't helping much either. Then, a thought occurred to her. The Four Point spell! Ha! It wouldn't point her to the star, but it would point her north. "Point me!" Sky whispered, setting her wand in her out stretched palm. Once her wand stopped spinning and pointed, her eyes followed, then moved up. There it was! Now were they supposed to write this down or something.......?

This star finding was actually harder then a word search. Sarah was like a word search champ yet this was harder mainly because it was sore on your neck and head to be looking so far up. Now it was back to the North Star, which was her bench mark, her starting line. After all, the ones in bold were said to be around there. She was looking in its vicinity for a V shaped constellation called Cassiopeia. She looked a bit up… no luck, right and left to and then she moved her gaze downwards and she spotted it. Cassiopeia had been found!

Now on to finding Cepheus. As usual her starting point was the North Star. Knowing that she had not seen something like it above the North Star she embarked on her search downward. Cepheus was found, just below the North Star a bit to the side, just chilling there. It was an odd shape though, Sarah had to admit. Like a constellation that could not decide between a triangle or a square so it was both.

What should she look for next?

Marigold looked out at the sky. There were lots of stars, lots, and she tried to look back on the map and find Polaris. Umm... Polaris should be towards the north, and very bright?

She settled for the fact that finding Polaris wasn't as easy as it seemed.

Airey took some time to walk around the room and check on everyone's progress. "Everyone doing alright?" he asked while checking his sundial again for the time. "As we discussed, stars will move their positions in the night sky, but you shouldn't notice much of a difference during the short time you are doing the activity." Homework, well, that was an entirely different story.

OOC: this is just a quick post that I am going to extend this portion of the lesson another 24 ish hours because we all essentially lost 24 hours with Peeves. I will be posting the homework sometime tomorrow, but the lesson will remain open for activity catch up and rping time for you all

As Kace was happy about finding Ursa Minor, he was looking around for other constellations. He was gonna look for Ura Major since it seemed closer on the chart. As he looked a little bit up to the stars. He looked a little upwards and to the right and he SAW it.

"WOoooaaahhhhhh" was all he could muster. He never thought he would be able to see a constellation so clearly. He was grinning with glee. Then he looked on his list for another constellation to look for. He wanted to look for Draco.

Then he was scanning for it, and then he found a little squiggly line with a circle on the bottom. It looked like Draco! Now he was getting to hang of it. Once he found Polaris, he could find everything else afterwards.

He was really looking at Draco. Probably once he found other constellations he could not find it again. He took a minute to admire it and then crossed it off his list when he got the chance.

The planets of course. After all, when Sarah first star gazed it was the planets that she found were actually the planets. (her mother corrected her on that one). They were usually the brightest bodies up so that would not be too hard to find.

Sarah threw her head back and began to look. Now she would be using the northern star as her guide, instead she would be using the night as a whole. The stars dizzied her, yet she knew that she had no choice. She just HAD to found them all. It was part of teh job requirement for being an overachiever. She had to do her best and no half jobs.

Wait.. what was that? na.. just the north star.. She moved her eyes southwards and then she saw one. A star brighter then the rest. It just had to be a planet. She leaned her head further back and then bang, Sarah lost her balance and fell backward, hitting the floor with a bang...

“This spell is really cool” said Sonea to her rat, Little princess who tried to climb out of her pocket. She looked next at the night sky above her and shivered, it was really cold here in the open air and without a roof above her, she hoped that it wouldn’t snow this evening. The second year old shivered again and wished that she wore something warmer than her usual school uniform. But… she was NOT a stupid little girl who only complained so she kept her mouth shut and stared above her, searching for something she recognized. Oh, I already knew where I can find Cassiopeia so maybe it would be easier to start there, said the young girl in silence to herself.

She searched for a few minutes and found where she was searching for, she found Cassiopeia! Now she only needed to look at the map to know which stars she needed to follow if she wanted to find more. The young girl saw on the map that the star she was searching for was indeed close to Cassiopeia, she only needed to look a little higher!

Okay, Ella had now found Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, and Polaris. This was good news, yeah? It meant she'd found a good portion of the items they were meant to locate. Now she was going to tackle finding Draco, a task she figured she could handle. It was meant to have a long chain of stars, Draco was, and it sort of wrapped near Polaris so she'd use that as a clue. Beam.

Badgers were supposed to be good finders so she was clearly going to put that to the test right now.

Turning her attention upwards, she tilted her head a bit and scanned for Draco. Nothing immediately jumped out at her as the sky was filled with stars, beautiful twinkling stars and it was really hard not to be distracted.

...Maybe she could just take a minute and appreciate being able to see everything so clearly.

“Where o where are you” muttered Sonea to herself while she looked at the sky above her. She KNEW that Polaris was close to Cassiopeia but where? The young girl just wanted to look again at the map when she saw something else, something she recognized. Quickly she looked at the map to check if she was right and yes, she saw that she had found Ursa Major! And… She even hasn’t tried to find it! She smiled while she quickly made a few notes on her parchment and looked back at the sky, she wanted to find Cassiopeia again because she knew that Polaris would be close and found the five stars who were look like a ‘W’. And after again a few minutes searching she found where she was searching for, she saw the star Polaris!

The search for Airey was continuing as Professor Elwood approached the Astronomy classroom. Her friend hadn't been in his office and he wasn't in the observatory either so she guessed that he was maybe in his classroom preparing for a future lesson. Wherever he was, he was going to be getting a present.

She hadn't forgotten that his birthday was today!

The blonde opened the classroom door slowly and squeaked his name as she did so, "Aiiiiiiirrreeeeeeyyy!!! I've got a surp-- Oh!" Merlin, there was a class in here. Whoops! Uh...there he was. Elwood quickly stood up straight as she opened the door the rest of the way normally.

"I'm so, so sorry Professor Flamsteed, I had no idea you had a lesson going on. I can just give you this afterwards." She said embarrassed as she held up the brightly wrapped box and card that was his joint birthday and Christmas gift. It was practical too because he needed something more than silk to sleep in. Heh.

Now to leave before she messed up whatever the kids were working on.

Wondering which constellation she could search for she looked back at the map and decided to search for ursa minor and ursa major, she suspected that they were located close to each other and that they would be easy to find if she did her best.

The young girl looked again at the sky but… She needed to blink a few times with her eyes, they were already irritated and she needed to close them for a few minutes before she tried again to look up at the sky. She wondered why her eyes were already irritated, she had just been started, but she realized that she probably was just tired and that her eyes were irritated because she was not used to stay up for so late.

But… The second year old opened her eyes and forced herself to keep going and searched for the two constellations she wanted to find. But finding them was not so easy as she thought that it would be, she needed to search for almost ten minutes before she had found both of them, but she had succeeded!

It only took her a little while to realize that this wasn't going to work unless she was actively looking at her text but of course this would be a problem because of the strain it caused.

"Finite!"

It had to be done. She needed to see the textbook and this business of it being so close up really wasn't working for her or her eyes. Lex gave her eyes some time to readjust before attempting to look through the book. From what she could tell it really was polaris that she'd found! Eeeep!! Her guess was right!!! It wasn't some identical twin!! She bounced a bit at the knowledge of being right.

Then, she looked over the diagram in the text several times just to make sure her mind had a good picture to work with. First she'd find the stars in polaris then she'd go looking for the others. Okay. "Oculo Focalis!!"

Blink. Blink. There went her eyes readjusting yet again. There! She cast her gaze upward again--Oh! Oh! Oh!!! Wasn't that...uh...Draco! Yes! Right theeeeere!!!!! Woot!

After playing around with the telescopic spell the Hufflepuff turned her attention to Professor Weird once more. Finding constellations. Erm...could she rather just stare at the beautiful sky and appreciate it without all it's weird constellation names and what they looked like? No. Er...okay then.

The eighteen year old's blue eyes flicked upwards towards the sky where she began looking at nothing in particular. She then looked down performed her telescopic spell, murmuring 'Oculo Focalis' quietly then looked and looked upwards again. With a zoom of her eyes she focused then paused, realizing she actually wasn't so sure what sort of shape to look for first. Zooming out she turned to her textbook.

Ursa Major. Sort of looked like a closed umbrella with a broken handle..or maybe not. Heh. But that was what she was to look for then? Right. Back to the sky then with a zoom.It took her maybe fifteen minutes before she noticed a similar looking group of stars quite up north. Um..That was it then? She wasn't too sure, but she was going to say yes because well she didn't know much better.

Seeing as looking into the book again wasn't an option she had to try remembering everything she'd seen just now when she removed the charm. It was all kinda confusing but there were things she could make out like the fact that Ursa Minor was right next to it. Like legit.

If only she could remember to which side of Draco it fell.

Just when she thought she'd been looking in circles she caught it! Pffft, how did she not notice that before? Now that she was looking at it it was almost jumping out at her, beaming and waving candy--oddly enough she would have noticed it sooner if it was doing that, juuuuust saying. Something like that would have been hard to miss. Something else that was hard to miss, Professor Elwood in Astronomy. Had she missed something in the time it took her to nearly go blind again?

If looking at the woman didn't hurt so much she would have continued just to know what it was all about. As it stood, headache.

Back to the sky.

Just further up...down...up? What were sky directions really(?) she caught sight of Ursa Major. Two in one go? She was getting better at this star gazing thing!!!

The second year was really proud about her work, she had already found four constellations and she was SURE that she could find more, she started to really like this. But… one thing was not so good, she was now really tired, her eyes were tired and she was SURE that her eyes were swollen and red, but she was not sure about that, she had her mirror not with her, what was a stupid thing, she would normally NEVER forget something so important…

The young girl rubbed her eyes with her hand and blinked again a few times, she needed to suppress a yawn and swallowed, she knew that this lesson was important and that it was normal to follow it this late in the evening, but she still was not used to it, to stay up for so late.

But again, the young girl worked as hard as she could and found again a few constellations, stars and even a few planets!, she found Draco, Cepheus, Mars and Pollux. She already had found Cassiopeia, Polaris, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor! And when the time was over, she was really satisfied with her results! She pointed her wand at her eyes and spoke the spell hesitating, she had never done this spell before but she had read about it and it didn’t seemed to difficult. “Finite” said Sonea and… Her eyesight returned back to normal!

Daichi kept staring at the Professor with twinkling in his eyes and his mouth slightly ajar. They had a famous person's grandson in their class! HOWAWESOMEWASTHAT?!

"Because i was right, can i have some icecream? I want icecream! Actually we should all be eating icecream right now because icecream makes everyone happy! and happy is good , right? right?!" He spoke these words without taking a break and his eyes shifted around in search of icecream.

Famous person grandson or not, when he began to ruffle his hair the Slytherin pouted as he tried to stare up angerly. Which didn't work of course. He didn't liked it when someone ruffled his hair! You know how much work he puts in his hair to keep it styled like that?! He even gets up fifteen minutes earlier to do his hair! And now it was a meeeesss. If a student had done it he would have said something, too bad the Professor was an authority figure so he simply sighed and began to try and style his hair again with his fingers.


...WAIT WHUT? Second activity already?!

Daichi looked at Laura for a second as he took the finishing bite from his delicious icecream. Had they been so slow? Well, apparently they had been. But the Slytherin didn't care because stargazing was far more interesting than looking at a chart.

He pointed his wand at himself and without any kind of worries that he normally had, he casted the "Oculo Focalis" spell on his eyes. The sensation in his eyes felt weird but he was happy that nothing too serious happened. His eyes went to look up at the sky and he began to chuckle when he realized he could almost touch them. Hehehe~ "Finite!" he said and the spell wore off.

Opening his text book, the Slytherin searched where the Polaris was since that was the first thing they had to find before performing the Oculo Focalis spell on his eyes again. His brown eyes adjusted as he looked up at the night sky and peered around in order to find Polaris.

Hmmm...Polaris reminded him of the northpole...and ice...ICECREAM~! Oh! there was Polaris! Daichi marked his findings in his notebook.

You know, she was beginning to think that all these stars had their own little hang out spot created or something. The other ones that she'd found where practically touching each other and now, after taking a good look, and it wasn't even a far look either, she could swear she was looking at cepheus!

If she remembered correctly, the text had said it was right below polaris and that star constellation fell right below polaris, see?

It was a part of that in crowd, cliques in the sky, she knew they existed and now she was wondering about little NOT Jeffery. After she'd sent him up there he found his own little constellation to be a part of. Lex was sure he'd made friends and was getting on well with Alice's star but she hoped he wasn't being picked on by any of these other constellations that seemed to stick together.

Ah hah!

Further prooooooof. If she wasn't mistaken, then wasn't that, ummm...that one...the name Cassi...opei...a? That one. It was right below cepheus! Kinda like this whole thing was planned. Probably not though because they'd move in another month or so, yeah? Only polaris would still be there?

And NOT Jeffery would still be there because she told him not to go too far. He would listen to her, she'd made him what he was today.
