Well she'd been pretty much right. But an 8 to 5 was a little trickier than a 2 to 1. If I reduce it maybe that will help, she thought. So...8 divided by 5 is...like...um...one with some remainder, something. Er... She was no good at doing math in her head, so she used her mini calculator. Hopefully that would be okay. Okay so that's like saying 1.6 to 1 ratio, right? So...300 hertz times 1.6 equals 480. So... She raised her hand, "Would that be like a 480 hertz to a 300 hertz?" She hoped she'd done that right, but she wasn't sure. |
That's totally what Dylan had meant. Sometimes he got the words mixed up...but yes. He'd essentially been right. BAM. ...and then there was another question. Ugh... Merlin, his head hurt. "Professor, could you explain it to me..." |
The math stuff wasn't stopping... Penelope was fine with it in Arithmancy when it was just the adding and subtracting stuff like it usually was, but this wasn't it. She didn't like ratios and...whatever else this was. Blinking confusedly, she continued to keep her hand down but didn't take any notes either since she wasn't even sure what to write down, and instead just...stared, attempting to process all these numbers and things and numbers. Merlin. This was almost worse than trying to succeed at casting a bunch of spells... |

Except there were a couple confused faces now out there. Quote:
"But if there are no further questions about musical notes or ratios, then I do believe our time is up. So feel free to grab a bowl of ice cream, but please consume it in the classroom, before leaving, and not in the hallway." She didn't want the headmistress or caretaker complaining about anyone dripping ice cream on the corridor floor. "Homework will be posted on the notice board." |
SWEET MERLIN THEY WERE DONE!! Alexa practic--no, she DID hop straight out of her seat while hurriedly throwing everything into her bag. No more numbers, no more flipping sickles and being hopelessly lost, it was all oooover. Eeep!! Ice-cream too!!!! She got herself some and devoured it quickly before numbers could find a way of ruining it as well. The brain freezes slowed her down but she wouldn't let them stop her. She WOULD have this long deserved ice-cream and the world would be happy with her. Not even the mention of homework could bring her down. This was delicious ice-cream goodness and she would enjoy it quickly. Finally, with the last bit eaten and her face covered in ice-cream, she grinned over at the Professor. "This was a wonderful lesson Professor--the ice-cream bit anyway." She BEAMed at her, slung her bag over her shoulder then skipped out of the classroom. |
Whatever else Hadley was saying had kind of been tuned out as soon as she realized it was ice cream time. ICE CREAM TIME! The blonde BEAMED and tucked away her notes as quickly as possible, trying not to knock anything over in her haste. That would have wasted precious ice cream eating time and she wouldn't have wanted that. The blonde grabbed a bowl and sat back down at her desk, wolfing it down with surprising speed. She wasn't even bothered by the brain freeze which was nice. When she had finished, she resisted the urge to get another bowl and pulled her bag over her shoulder, ready to head out. "Thanks for the lesson and ice cream, Professorrrrr!" She said in a sing-song voice. She then cleaned the bowl quickly with her wand and set it back down before heading out. Bounce! Bounce! Bounce! |
At least she could use a calculator when she needed to. That was a relief. She wondered what would be their next brain exercise, but was pleasantly surprised to hear that they were done! No more math questions? Sweet!! She watched Hadley some more and grinned as she said they could finish their ice cream in the classroom before they had to leave. She's so considerate!! She ate several more spoonfuls and cleaned her bowl before grabbing her bag to go. "Thank you very much for the ice cream during our lesson, Professor! I hope you have a great day!" Any professor who gave them ice cream was amazing in her book. She gave the woman one more toothy smile before leaving. |

She went to get a bowl of icecream, yet ate it slowly as her mind was thinking of other ratios like the ones they did in class. Finally the bowl was clean and she got up. "Thank you for the lesson and ice cream, professor... where should I put this?" she said referring to the empty bowl. Her mother would be proud, as clearing up after oneself was good. |
