Hecate had the vial of ice cream in her hands and she was twisting it between her fingers.
She opened it, smelled it and then corked it again...
She was waiting for the kids to file in... They needed to start this potion soon... very soon.
ooc: This class will be faster than the usual classes. It will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!
All she wanted to do was scream at the boy. There were FIRST years that were doing the spell just fine! Calm down... she needed to get this all done.
Hecate went to the boy's side and said through gritted teeth "Now watch me so you can know how to do it next time." She performed the spell for him. It was the quickest way she knew of fixing the issue at hand. Color and consistency changed. At least the boy mixed the ingredients correctly.
"ALRIGHT! HOMEWORK. Bring your cauldron to the Great Hall, we're going to have an ICE CREAM FEAST. You will need to taste someone else's syrup, you can taste as many as you want. Get as many people to taste your syrup as you can. THIS IS ALL FREE..." She said. "This is worth 20 points!"
First of all, WHAT was Lex on about helping him? She wasn't any better with spells than he was. Worse, even, sometimes. Except when it came to blowing things up, of course. But no way was she going to be able to do a spell he couldn't.
Secondly, he expected Lafay to have an older student do it quickly for him, but SHE DID IT HERSELF!! How SPECIAL!! Aidan BEAMED up at her. "Thanks, Professor!! I'll practice it loads and do it myself soon!!" And then show her and then she'll be proud of him!!
He clearly hadn't noticed any annoyance on the professor's part.
And now that his potion was all done and GOOD, thanks to Professor Lafay, he waited, bouncing, for the next step.
WHICH WAS WHAT??? WERE HIS EARS DECEIVING HIM???
IIIICEE CREAAAM FEEEAAASSTTT!!!!!!!!!!
Aidan grabbed his cauldron and toddled to the Great Hall.

She put a peppermint toad on the desk. "This will kill whatever kind of nausea you have." She WILL taste her syrup, or someone elses. "And it's Professor Lafay. That's how you should address me." She said containing her anger.
Annabeth stood up and stared at the pepermint toad. "Thank you, Professor He... Lafay. I apologise for my mistake." The girl lowered her eyes, look at the teacher didn't seem a good idea at that moment. She swallowed. And if it was a kind of poison? She took a small piece of the peppermint toad and threw it into her mouth. If it was a kind of poison she wanted to die! "Um.... refreshing... and tasty." And then she added: "May I have more of this peppermint toad? Or is it enough for all syrup I'll taste?"
Anna put her things back into her bag, alongside her wand and the peppermint toad leftover. It should be useful. Before grabbing carefully her cauldron, she cleaned her workstation, then went out.

She had to REMAKE it? The whole thing? Really, Lafay?
Alice grudgingly complied, filling her cauldron with more of the butterscotch base until it was halfway to the brim. Next was.. one butterbeer, right? She hadn't taken notes on this, so she peeked over at Mo's to make sure she was doing the steps right. The butterbeer was emptied first, and then six drops of the Lethe river water. After that, according to Cactus' notes, she was meant to add seven untouched blades of fluxweed, which she did, pulling on her gloves and all.
This was so difficult, they had to do this all while everyone else just cast a spell?
Lafay was lucky she had such good, compliant students like her.
The fifth year spooned in two rounds of poppy seeds, and then one tablespoon of Glumbumble fluid. The parchment beside her said she was meant to drop it in slowly, stirring in a counterclockwise direction, which she hadn't done with her first potion. So it would have been wrong anyway? But Alice did it right this time around, so it was all creepily forgetful and sad like Lafay wanted it to be.
Mo had stopped taking notes after that, because of hand burning and cauldron bumping and potions class breaking. She took a peek at what everyone else was doing to get directions instead. Tugging her wand out of her robes and tracing the lip of the cauldron clockwise with it, Alice tried to complete a full circle from the spot in front of her. Circle.. circle... flick. "Tristificatus." Was it supposed to be all thick and shiny like hers was?
She eyed the syrup disdainfully. No way she was tasting that. But it was kind of required for homework.. maybe she could pretend to? All her options were considered as she began lugging her cauldron to the Great Hall.

Minerva watched as the spell was finally told and she was ready to do it, because she knew it would be the last part of the potion. Then she could get rid of this flipping fire and get the hell out of this class. Pulling her wand out again she looked down at her cauldron and took in a breath at the flames. Being careful with her wand she circled the lip of the cauldron ""Tristificatus" Oh.. look how shiny. It was kind of pretty.. She sighed, because she really loved potions and it was a stronger class for her, but Lafay just made it scary and with Tillstorm still behind her she just wanted out of the class.
Now they were headed to the great hall... for ice cream. She was kidding right? Min wanted to so bad to be excited about the ice cream, but once upon a time she was excited about ice cream with Wacka doodle and the psychotic side kick and that turned into fire and live bugs. Was this all a trick. She picked up her cauldron to leave, but how was she going to leave with Tillstorm still right behind her... She couldn't look at the woman so how was she going to move.

Well, so far so good for Wade. Did he mention how good the concoction smelt? Anyways, he took out his wand and starting from spot closest to him began tracing the lip of the cauldron with the movement, going clockwise. After he completed a full circle, he motioned the wand flicking upward whilst speaking, "Tristificatus."
Now what did that do? He peered slightly over to check on the syrup.. the now thicker and shinier syrup. Was that a sparkle? Brilliant. Now he had to wait for it to cool.
--
Hm? Guess they were moving now. Oh neat, another ice cream party for Wade. He was pretty happy as he brought his now cool cauldron along towards the Great Hall after everyone.
Sarah watched all the commotion with interest. It was quite funny, as Sarah thought it was by accident. Mo was not a slytherin so he would not do it on purpose. Now back to her potion.
She took out her wand, and pointed it to the point on the rim closest to her, and then moved clockwise. When she reached that point again she gave it a flick upwards. "Tristificatus" she said.
She watched as the potion morphed into shiny mixture and thickened. It did look like a tears.
She turned off the heat and removed it from the hear, and waited a few moments to cool. In those moments she got updates on the situation around her in class.
Now it was ready. She was not going to have it due to the poppyseeds though.
But the homework? It was free but.... she liked her ice cream without this syrup.
SPOILER!!: notes
Syrup for Ice cream
Ingredients
A base - Chocolate, Caramel, Butterscotch or Marshmallow are good
six drops of Lethe River Water
one butterbeer
seven blades of fluxweed, untouched
2 spoonfulls of poppyseeds
1 tsp Glumbumble fluid
Method
clean cauldron
fill caudron half way with base
set flame on low
add butterbear
add 6 drops of Lethe River Water
put on gloves and Add seven blades of fluxweed, untouched.
add 2 spoonfulls of poppyseeds
add Glumbumble fluid, dropping the tablespoon slowly stirring with a wooden stirrer counter clockwise.
take out your wand, and trace the lip of the cauldron, starting from the spot closest to you, moving clockwise, and when you complete your full circle, flick the wand upward, and say "Tristificatus". If it works, the syrup should become thicker and shinier... sparkly almost. Like a fresh tear.
"What an easy homework assignment. I know I can do that. Eating is my strongest subject" he said with a grin to Daichi. Asher started to pack up his things to move to the great hall.
"If you want, you can try some of my syrup when we get there. I don't think I could have made it without your help...so, thanks."
Asher pulled out his wand again, levitated his cauldron, and headed slowly towards the door.
"Thanks for letting me try again, Professor, and for a great class."

What kinda name was Tristificatus?
Theo already knew it would end horribly. But he would try, as he always did. He wrote the incantation down and decided to break it up in parts. Trist. If. Ica. Tus. He said each part out loud, and even THAT proved difficult. It was the 'if' and the 'ica'... they did NOT go well together. Ugh, try again. Trist... ifica... tus. That made it a bit simplier.
Trist. Ifica. Tus.
Tristificatus.
"Tristiff..." Paaaaaause... "Icacatus." DARN.
Okay, let's just wing it and hope for the best. Theo whipped out his wand and circled it around his cauldron in a clockwise motion. That was clockwise, yeah? Yeah, cool. With a flick, Theo said, "Tristificacortus!" Nothing appeared to have happened, so he just tried, tried, tried, tried again.
Trissst..... "Tristificatus!" BOOM... Not literally boom. Boom as in - BOOM HE WAS AWESOME AT MAGIC. He turned off the heat and looked his potion over, and it had turned all sparkly and stuff. He hoped that was the right colour...

.... Really?
Theo was all for free ice cream and stuff, but he was getting kinda sick of it. And his dodgy tummy was NOT going to agree with trying a whole bunch of different syrups. He sighed heavily then picked up his cauldron, ready to leave.

Hecate demonstrated the spell on her own cauldron. The syrup became thicker and shinier... sparkly almost. Like a fresh tear.
"Once you achieve this consistency and appearance, remove from the heat and wait a few moments for it to cool. Don't taste it yet..." This was when kids usually were prompted to ask questions. But she wasn't going to do that... She didn't need some kid blowing this and pointing out what the ingredients did.
Anya blinked a few times at the troublemakers. She was just much too happy to care. All that mattered to her was that she'd get to try her topping before the others.
She grabbed her wand as instructed. She then traced the lip of the cauldron as the Professor demonstrated. She then flicked her wand upwards and said "Tristificatus."
She smiled slowly at her cauldron. It looked like syrup now!! ICECREAMSYRUP!
She put out the flame and waited for it to cool.

Anya beamed. ICE CREAM FEAST! This term just got better and better. Ice cream in charms and now she had an assignment to EAT the stuff.
She grabbed her cauldron and headed to the Great Hall. She was excited.
YAY! ICE CREAM!

Healer Tillstorm stood there against the wall watching bug breath and his little girlfriend the class as they started making their potion. Ice Cream toppings. Well that should definitely make some of the students happy... or not.
Oh for the love of potion making. What was Wheatborn doing now? Did the girl love fire so much that she had to go and catch her robes ablaze... again? Cece was about to help the girl when Professor Lafay stepped in. Well look at that. It seems at least one professor knows how to handle things in the absence of the healer. Not that she was absent right now.
As the class progressed Cece continued to watch what Minerva and Ethan were doing. As tempted as she may have been to step in and encourage the girl, she didn't do it. She just stood back and watched. The puff needed to get over her fears on her own, not with the help of the healer who may have been part of those fears.
As professor Lafay wrapped up the lesson and told the students what to do next, Healer Tillstorm pushed off the wall and slowly started to walk around the back of the room. Any student who left the room was going to have to walk past her, and yes, that meant Minerva too. "That cauldron isn't going to walk itself to the Great Hall Miss Wheatborn."
Hey, since I didn't actually get it done the first time xD

Cat facepalmed again. All over? Alright, might as well get it over with. She picked up her cauldron and cleaned the messy potion remains from it before starting over.
She opted for marshmallow again and filled her cauldron half way before next adding the butterbeer. She remembered how nice this had smelled, super yummy and all, couldn't they have just stopped there and put THIS on their ice cream? This was good enough. But okay, carrying on. The Slytherin counted out six drops of Lethe River Water and added them into the cauldron.
What was the next part? Cat glanced at Alice and saw the other girl putting her gloves on. Right. Fluxweed. Seven blades, if she remembered correctly. She paused to put her own gloves on and added the fluxweed into the cauldron. Marshmallow-y and butterbeer-y smells. Mmmmm. What was next? Poppyseeds? TWO spoonfuls, yes, they went in too. Sounded about right to her. Now she was at the part she'd been when this whole cauldron tipping incident started. Since she'd just done this bit, she remembered it most easily of all. She dropped one tablespoon of Glumbumble slowly into the cauldron and stirred it counter clockwise and then glanced at Mo as if he was getting ready to knock it over again.
Cat's potion. CAT'S. No one touchy.
Alright now, this last part she'd sort of missed because of the traumatic cauldron dumping, but she quietly watched Alice before taking up her own wand. Starting from the spot closest to herself, which was something she was glad she'd seen Alice do cause she almost forgot that bit, Cat circled the cauldron with her wand in a clockwise manner. When she closed her circle, she flicked her wand up (hopefully not spraying anything in the air). "Tristificatus." Err. Yeah. She said that right, yes?
It appeared so since the potion now looked exactly as Alice's did. So like, unless they had both done it wrong, she was good. She set her cauldron aside to let it cool as told, and watched the other students carry on with leaving and such. Sigh. After a little wait, she collected her cauldron and followed Alice out of the classroom, giving Professor Lafay and Healer Tillstorm, who was like... guarding the door or something, a polite smile as she left.
Needless to say, this cauldron and potion were being handled with the utmost care as if it were her baby. She didn't fancy doing it over a third time.

Did the woman press too much on the 'M' part or was it just Cassia's hearing? Hopefully her hearing and not Romanos making other professor's misspell her name. It probably was her imagination.
Free? Points? That caught her attention.
Umm..What's with the easy assignments like the charms' one. Though Cassia did really enjoy the ice-cream then. It was really delicious. Like really! How dumb of her to not have had it more. Lex was RIGHT! VERY RIGHT ABOUT THE WHOLE THING! Lafay was so nice to let them ditch the lesson and go have ice-cream instead.
Can she like hug the woman and all?
The fourth-year hopped away from her cauldron...then hopped back. She was supposed to bring her syrup right? Silly her.
She grabbed it and headed to the door. OH The healer. Cassia flashed her a GRIN!

She repeated trying her best for a more patient voice... fail? Maybe... but it was certainly a better tone than before. She summoned the same unction she had used on Wheatborn and took the boy's hand, gently dabbing some on. "I hope this won't happen again, or I shall have to let your father..." Yes, not his mother, who seemed predisposed not to like her teaching style, thanks to the Headmistress' influence no doubt. "...know of your disruptive behaviour. Once, I'll chalk up to clumbsyness, but twice will just be rude and disruptive."
"He didn't break anything... Miss Fischer," She said annoyed... she was already coating the boy's wound. She didn't need someone to tell her what to do. Even the school nurse, who was in the classroom wasn't stepping on her toes. And she would have been excused, because... well... she was the nurse.

West turned at the kerfuffle and inwardly groaned. Right. So guess who he'd have to make eat his syrup? Girlfriend. Ex-best friend. Food-giving friend. That was easier said than done but obviously necessary. He'd do it even if he had to force it down their THROATS. He turned his attention back to his own cauldron and took up his wand... pausing to consider the spell.
Tristificus meant making sad, and Tristifical meant causing to be sad or mournful. And Tristitia meant sad as did Triste. It was easy to see how Tristificatus worked in with that, and with the ingredients in the potion. But it DID make him wonder.... if he hadn't been eating ice cream, was it safe for him to eat? Obviously it was supposed to counter the effects of the ice cream, but what if there were no effects to counter?
All the same he had his wand ready and did a clockwise trace of the lip of the cauldron, completing the circle and flicking upward.
"Tristificatus!"
... it looked like... tears. How fitting. West looked up at the professor and waited.

... for that. Okay. Well. West didn't want to have to handle a cauldron all the way up there and risk spilling it so instead he spent some time decanting it into a couple of flasks. That'd make it easier if he had to force feed anyone too right? The points didn't matter, the points weren't the important part at all. West cleaned his cauldron up and put it away then grabbed his things and the flasks of potion and headed to the Great Hall.

Minerva heard the words of Tillstorm and glanced back why was she here. She hadn't said anything the entire lesson. Was she just hear to torture them again. She was doing a fantastic job. Not only had Minerva been in a full blown panic attack, but her arm was beat red even if it didn't hurt as bad because of the aloe.
"I.. I'm going.. Just cleaning up." She gathered her things and gave Ethan a begging look of come on please..Making sure those horrid flames were gone she picked up her cauldron and got up off her chair. See wacka doodle... I'm up.. I'm up.
"E.. you ready." she shuffled, please E get up let's go... She turned without making eye contact with Tillstorm and headed out the door.
As he continued with his potion, Ethan glanced to the side of him a few times just to gauge Minerva's process.. and tried to ignore the foreboding figure behind him. Was she still there? He wasn't sure why she had chosen the spot behind them to stand other than to confirm what he already knew about her.
But at least Minerva seemed to be able to work on the potion no matter what internal horror she was going through. She really was so strong to make it through this class, he was really proud of her. He glanced up from his cauldron as Lafay recited the final steps of the instructions. Almost done.. could the ice cream saga be almost done as well? He could only finish this potion and hope.
He picked up his wand and traced it clockwise around the lip of the cauldron. After a flick upwards, he commanded, "Tristificatus." The Prefect peered into his cauldron, watching as it slowly seemed to achieve a thicker viscosity.. not to mention shinier. When it seemed to be the appropriate sheen and texture, Ethan turned off the flame and removed his cauldron to let it cool.
He was nearly on the edge of his seat, unable to wait to see if this actually was the cure. All his perseverance and frustrations might actually pay off. Ethan looked up as the homework was announced.. Ice cream feast and tasting someone else's syrup, hopefully this would work. He picked up his cauldron and gathered his things, turning just slightly as he heard a voice behind him. Honestly.. was her sole purpose in life to torture others? He ignored the Healer, turning to Min and nodding at her words. "Yes, let's go." Holding his supplies in his arms, he followed her out the door and towards the great hall.

Maybe there was hope.....
He hoped he didn't ruin the potion TOO much. The professor says he didn't. He would need to try it again. He said to try to say his incantation again. He needed to remember how to do it. He had to stir it towards him? Nope probably not he had to check his notes.
SPOILER!!: Kace's Notebook
Take out your wand, and trace the lip of the cauldron, starting from the spot closest to you, moving clockwise, and when you complete your full circle, flick the wand upward, and say "Tristificatus". If it works, the syrup should become thicker and shinier... sparkly almost. Like a fresh tear.
Alright so he took out his wand. He started from the spot closest to him. He traced the rim of his cauldron and moved clockwise while saying "Tristificatus!" and then with a flick upward, he hoped this worked. He was confident this time.
He saw it become shinier and it was becoming thicker! Then it was looking like a fresh tear. YAY! He did it. He smiled to himself. Then he remembered he had to take the cauldron off. He took his cauldron off the heater to let it cool. As he was letting it cool, he noticed the Professor address the homework.
HOLD THE PHONE.....they were gonna have an ICE CREAM FEAST! WOOHOOO!!!! Kace was beaming and getting excited. He was jumping on the balls of his feet. He was gonna let his cauldron cool down but he was cleaning the rest of his workspace before he left for the great hall.
He said "Scourgify!" now his table wasn't sticky. He was still cleaning and now his potion and cauldron were cooled down. He took it with him and left the classroom to go to the great hall.

Glumbumble? That was a fun word to say. Glumbumble. Glumbumble. Hehehe. She liked it. BEAM! The blonde cleaned her spoon and added a tablespoon, dropping it slowly into the potion. She then cleaned her wooden stirrer and stirred counter clockwise just like Professor Lafay had done.

Oh and a spell! The blonde traced the lip of her cauldron with her wand as indicated and then did the little flick thingy, saying, "Tristificatus!" Blink...did it work?!
Consistency and appearance. Hmm...Ella glanced into her cauldron and smiling a little, thinking this looked like quite an interesting ice cream topping. Definitely one she'd never had before which was sort of exciting. She liked trying new things, Ella did.
The blonde removed it from the heat and let it cool, deciding to clean while she waited. She really wanted to have a taste but knew Professor Lafay wouldn't like that much so she tried to have patience instead. Le sigh.

Right, right, right...
Making sure his gloves were in place, he went about gathering up fluxweed. Again, he didn't have any personally and needed to dart to Lafay's potions cupboard...After acquiring what he needed, though, they quickly got added in.
Poppyseeds. He had those. Looking through his kit, Dylan pulled the small vial and twisted off the top. Scooping out two spoonfuls like Lafay had said, they also were quickly added in.
Also...Daichi!duck's anger was adorable. Lulz.
Moving on, though...Glancing up at the Professor, the Captain went about completing the next stop. Glumbumble fluid. Right. He had some of that, too. Digging into his kit again, he quickly pulled it out.
One tablespoon later (SLOWLY ADDED), he was pulling a wooden stirrer and scourgifying it clean...and then dipping it down into the cauldron. With counter-clockwise motions, Dylan began stirring...
Was he just supposed to keep stirring?
Stirrrrring.....Stirrrrrrrring....
Next, the Slytherin was pulling his wand and focusing it towards the cauldron. Watching all the others (including the Professor closely), he started with the spot nearest him and began tracing...going all clockwise in direction and stuff.
After he'd completed the circle, he did that funny upwards flick and spoke "Tristificatus!" in a steady, confident tone. Confidence was always key, right? That was what he honestly believed, anyway...
Oh, right. The consistency needed to be thick and shiny...He looked into his cauldron, dipping some of the potion up to give it a good speculative look. It was DEFINITELY thick...and there was a crystal-like sheen in place. So, with that part correct and out of the way, Dylan removed the cauldron from the heat, allowing it to cool.
Right. He wasn't tasting it. Didn't need to either. He wasn't an Ice cream!zombie.
While he waited, he went ahead and pulled his notebook. Dylan had forgotten about his meticulous note-taking for this potion. The Captain had a lot on his mind...So, things were slightly out of order. It was being handled now, though...as he opened it to a new page and started writing...
SPOILER!!: Dylan's Potions Journal
Dylan Montmorency
Slytherin Seventh Year
Potions II: Ice Cream Zombie Cure
Ingredients
Ice cream topping that appeals most to you (Chocolate, Caramel, Butterscotch, and Marshmallow)
1 Butterbeer
6 drops of Lethe River water
7 blades of Fluxweed (untouched)
2 spoonfuls of poppyseeds
1 tablespoon of Glumbumble fluid
Steps / Procedure
Cleaned the cauldron (Scourgify)
Added the topping ingredient, filling the cauldron to halfway.
Set the heat to LOW, so as not to burn the topping ingredient already added in.
Added in one whole butterbeer, tilting it some so that it didn't foam too much.
Added six drops of Lethe River water, making sure not to inhale the scent or anything in relation to that.
Added seven blade of fluxweed, making sure my gloves were securely in place.
Added two spoonfuls of poppyseeds.
Added one tablespoon of glumbumble fluid, making sure to slowly slip it in.
With a wooden stirrer, began counterclockwise motions.
Pulled wand and traced the lip of the cauldron (clockwise), completing a full-circle and then said the incantation (Tristificatus).
Removed it from heat so that it could cool before consumption.
Bam. That was it, then. Once the potion was cooled properly, Dylan packed his bag up, cleaned his workstation, and levitated his cauldron to the Great Hall.
This was going to be interesting...

It tasted good because of... river stones. Rocks, basically. Apparently rocks tasted good.
Tobias decided to just trust the professor's judgement on that one... he wasn't going to go and lick any rocks to test that theory.
"Right..."
Okay, moving on!
The Hufflepuff pulled on his gloves as instructed and counted out seven blades of the fluxweed, dropping them into the cauldron one at a time. Personally, he thought that grass stuff wouldn't make the best tasting syrup, but he'd kind of spoken a lot already. At one point, Tobias opened his mouth to ask why THIS ingredient specifically had to be untouched, but not necessarily the others. But then he figured that he'd just shut up and brew the potion.
YEP.
Once the fluxweed was in, Tobias pulled off his gloves again so he had full use of his hands, and then added the poppyseeds... one spoonful... two spoonfuls.
Right, on to the next step!
Glumbumble fluid?
Before he could stop himself, Tobias let out a small snort of laughter. Bahahaha... what a funny word. Ehehe.
ANYWAY. YES, FOCUS.
One table spoon of the fluid was prepared, before Tobias searched his supplies for a WOODEN stirrer rather than the glass stirrer or the ladle and only then started to slowly drop the fluid in while he stirred counter clockwise.
OOH NOW FOR MAGIC.
Tobias retrieved his wand from the pocket of his robes and watched as the Potions lady do the spell. Okay... that didn't seem too hard. And the potion was meant to do... that. Okay. He could EASILY visualise that, given that he'd just watched it happen. The incantation could be a bit tricky, though... that did not sound like an easy word. "Tris-tifi-catus... Tristifi-catus... Tristificatus," Tobias practiced the spell, muttering it under his breath, before placing the tip of his wand on the lip of his cauldron, at the part closest to him, just as she'd said. He traced the lip of the cauldron aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way around, imagining his potion going just like the professor lady's, and when it reached the start position again he flicked his wand up and said, once more but this time more confidently, "Tristificatus!"
Toby stared into the cauldron. The already-quite-thick substance definitely appeared to look slightly more viscous, and it looked kiiiind of like Professor Potion Lady's... sooooo... it had worked?
It was good enough for Toby, so he took his potion off the heat and waited for it to cool down.
Waaiiit...
... AN ICE CREAM FEAST FOR HOMEWORK?! THAT WAS SO COOL.
TO THE GREAT HALL!

"Alright, back to the ingredients. Add seven blades of fluxweed, untouched. Use your gloves, then add 2 spoonfulls of poppyseeds." She said putting on her own gloves and showing how it was done.
Now that she'd added the butterbeer and lethe river water, Eliza listened to the next steps. It seemed she needed some fluxweed blades, so she reached for the jar on the table. But oh! Gloves first! she thought as the professor's words echoed in her head. She slid them on and gingerly picked up seven of the blades and added them to the cauldron one at a time. She watched the lightweight ingredient float on top for a few moments until it sank down.
Next up, she cleaned her spoon. "Scourgify," she cast onto the utensil, and then scooped one spoonful of poppyseeds from the jar, and dropped them in. Then she scooped another and did the same. Lethe water and poppy seeds? This sounds sort of...sleepy, doesn't it? She wondered if maybe the syrup would make them have nice dreams about the ice cream they'd be putting it on as well as make it taste yummier.

And now it was time for the next ingredient, Glumbumble fluid. Funny, she thought, it has the word 'glum' right in it. But I guess that could just be a weird thing right? Why would we want a syrup to make us sleepy and glum? Nahh....the marshmallow must offset it or something. Lafay knows what she's doing. However, it seemed that poor Minerva did not. Eliza looked at her friends, Ethan and Min, a bit sadly. She wished she could help them, but she knew that would only make things worse for them in class and Ethan had things under control. As did Professor Lafay as she tended to their fire situation.
Moving along, she slowly poured in one tablespoon of the fluid and stirred with her wooden stirrer as she did so. In her distraction with Min and Ethan, she'd almost begun to stir it the wrong way, but thankfully corrected herself before she did. COUNTER clockwise, she reiterated in her head

Glad to be done with the ingredient part, Eliza listened to the spell. The clockwise tracing around the cauldron was easy peasy, but that word was a bit weird. Tristi...tristi...fi...catus...Tristificatus? Tristi...sounds like triste in Spanish which is sad, right? Weird. She shrugged it off though, happy to be enhancing her ice cream, and cast the spell. Circle, clockwise on rim, "Tristificatus!" Before her eyes now lied a thick, sparkly syrup that looked good enough to eat straight out of the cauldron, although she resisted. But only because she'd said not to.
She ended the flame on her burner with a simple finite and allowed the syrup to cool down some. Maybe it will be super thick like honey or really good maple syrup once it's done! She just sat staring at it in anticipation.

After what had seemed like DAYS, the syrup was finally cool enough to use. When she thought they'd be dishing up ice cream immediately though, Lafay directed them elsewhere. To the Great Hall for an ice cream party?!?! NO WAY!!! Lafay is the best!!! Without ANY hesitation, she smiled at the woman heartily and said, "Thank you Professor, this is such an awesome idea! I can't wait to try these!" And off she went with the other students to stock the hall for the devouring of yummy sweets.

Awesome, she'd done good. Thank Merlin. And now Professor Lafay was giving out homework, so class was over, right...?
...Not really. The class extended into the homework, it seemed. And it was an ice cream feast of all things. Of course, it made sense but...meh. She didn't really want to eat the ice cream or try the syrups - but part of the homework was just getting others to try hers, so she could just do that, right? Well, Penelope was gonna try.
Grabbing her cauldron, she followed the rest of the class out.

Starting at the point closest to her, Sky made a circle around her cauldron with her wand. Once she reached her starting point again, flicked wand upwards and said the spell. "Tristificatus." Okay, that was a shiny potion. Reminded her of water. Chocolate flavored water. That sounded kind of gross.
Wait, what now?! They had to carry their potion all the way to the Great Hall?! Not that it was that far away, under normal circumstances. But carrying a cauldron full of liquid? Upstairs? Yeah, that could be problematic. But then Sky spied West decanting his into vials. Perfect. So, that's what she did (casting a cleaning charm on them first). And going now.

If only Forrest knew what these ingredients did. He watched the commotion somewhat boredly, tried to avoid eye-contact with Professor Hecate as much as possible, and just shrugged to himself when new potion ingredients were issued. He had issues with the word 'untouched' too--how could he put them in his cauldron without touching them? Was he to use the levitating spell?!?! D:--and resolved to watch the older students first. Oh so it would be untouched via gloves. Putting them on, he counted seven blades and added them one by one as he looked for a change in his cauldron, but nothing happened.
Naaah, he was doing fiiiine.
Just how much spoonfull it had to be was kinda mystery, so Forrest went enough spoonfull in his judgment and added the 2 enough spoonfull of poppyseeds as well. Because too much of anything always resulted bad, yes? Yes. So potions wasn't that hard, after all. It was just like cooking food. Some stuff of that, more stuff of this--
cast our SPELL?! Spells in THIS too? His face paled. He was HORRIBLE at spells and he was just BOUND to be MORE horrible because Professor Lafay and--deep breaths, deep breaths--he got up like he was in a dream and got some glumbumble fluid from the cupboard. He tried not to be impressed at how the woman just summoned it like that whereas he had to walk and use his hands to get it. He dropped one tablespoon of it slowly--everything had been in slow-motion anyway since he'd heard 'spell'--and stirred it counter-clockwise with the wooden stirrer as instructed, in the process.
And the most dreaded moment came.
He retrieved his wand alright. Started from the closest point to him alright. Traced the the lip of the cauldron clockwise alright. When it was a full circle, flicked his wand upwards alright. And even spoke the spell "Tristificatus." alright.
...
And the potion became thicker and shinier and kinda sparkly alright.
"YES! YES!"
Hands fisting the air upwards, he jumped in his seat to his feet and just looked so triumphant. IT WORKED! IT WORKED THE FIRST TIME! Just WHOEVER managed that, hmm? Looking around with this VASTEST smile ever, hands still in the air, he saw that nearly everyone managed it the first time. What's more, no one had shouted like him. He was the only silly one. He went scarlet as his eyes flew to Professor Lafay in fear, and he slowly sank into his chair. She wouldn't deduct points, yeah? Yeah?! He quickly removed the heat and tried to sink some more in his chair to avoid being seen by Professor Lafay. He had drawn too much attention already, he certainly didn't need to maintain eye-contact with her now.
...
After about 5 minutes of restless wait, he grabbed his cauldron and ran/walked as fast as he could out of the classroom towards the Great Hall.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

Watching his potion swirl around before him, Asher spoke to his helper "I think you are right. I do spend too much time with my head in the clouds. My grandma is always saying that. Always." He grinned thinking about home and how close the end of the year was.
Looking up at him "You are a seventh year, right? Where will you go after you graduate?" Asher fumbled with his stirrer, not paying much attention, and almost knocked over his cauldron.
"Oh, the next step" he said as he tried to write down the steps as the professor spoke. Asher picked up his wand and began tracing the lip of his cauldron, starting just before him and following around in a clockwise direction. Just as the wand approached the start of the circle, he flicked it up and commanded "Tristificatus" hoping it would work.
He was getting the hang of it. The syrup took on a thicker and shinier appearance almost instantly. Leaning further over the syrup, Asher also noticed the slight sparklyness of it. "Look, Daichi, look! I think I did it."
What he will be doing after graduating. That question had haunted him this whole term and he had even talked about his worries to Professor Flamsteed because he hadn't known at first. He was still a bit indecisive about his choice but he figured he could work it up along the years. He was only eighteen after all there were so many years ahead of him.
"I'm thinking about working in the muggle world for some time" he finally answered as he grabbed his wand and pointed it inside the cauldron. He traced it in a full circle and said "Tristificatus!". He then continued. "Like in a clothing store and yes, its a choice i want to work in the muggle world" he added with a slight grin.
Maybe after that he could find a job in the magical world but as of now, he didn't want to.
When Asher sounded excited about his potion the seventh year leaned in to look as well. "Good job , kid. See i told you you were good at potions, you just need to concentrate" This kid really was like a miniature self. Personality wise...when it came to potions... He checked his own cauldron and noted that his potion had turned out not bad either.
EH?! ICE CREAM FEAST?!
The Prefect's cool and relaxed manner around the kid dissapeared in an instant. THEY WERE REALLY HAVING AN ICE CREAM FEAST?! Meeeeep~! After letting the cauldron cool down a bit he picked it up and motioned for Asher.
"Ice cream feast! come on~!" And yes, his eyes were twinkling with excitment.
