Default #2 - Let's Make Syrup!

Hecate had the vial of ice cream in her hands and she was twisting it between her fingers.

She opened it, smelled it and then corked it again...

She was waiting for the kids to file in... They needed to start this potion soon... very soon.

ooc: This class will be faster than the usual classes. It will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

Glumbumble. Alice's eyes slid over to Penelope before.. wait, Glumbumble? Fluid like.. treacle? Antidote to hystera induced by alihotsy that made people sad? Lafay wanted them SAD?

Was the professor working with those dementors that were everywhere? That was it. That was totally it.

It meant really really really don't put it on ice cream.

Mo clutched the phial in his hand and circled back to his work station. Just a few feet away from the desk, Mo started to cough. Just a tickle at first, but then it grew strong enough to practically knock him off his feet. Instead, he dropped his phial, slipped on the fluid now on the floor, and ran into the end of the workstation and Cat's cauldron.

Cat's cauldron slid off its fire and into Mo's, which slid into Alice's. Like some ridiculous Newton's Cradle, all three cauldrons slid one into the other and off the end of the table. Um... oops? "Professor..." He coughed again, this time into his elbow, and held up the hand he'd burned when it ran into Cat's cauldron.
She was going to retrieve her fluidy stuff when.. hi Mo.

And Mo's cauldron.

And Cat's cauldron.

"... burnt Cactus does not look pretty," Alice noted, holding his wrist in place so she could inspect his hand. Ouch. "Good going, klutz, you just broke Potions class." But she was grinning, because this meant she had an excuse not to take the creepy potion anymore. Mo was her favorite, did he know? He knew. "You got any burn-healing paste, professor?" Like the orange-y stuff? Klutz needed it.

Yes. Final ingredient. Home stretch. This was good. This was going well... this was falling over. Cat made pathetic grabby hands at her cauldron, but it was too late for any of that so she just facepalmed. She was a little sad to see her work falling all over the place, but potions weren't as important as burned boyfriend hands, right? Or something like that.

"Are you okay?" Cat whisper!asked, though she was trying her best not to laugh over Alice. Laughing was not a good idea, right? Lafay surely wasn't going to find this funny.

DID THEY ALL SMELL THAT?! THE POTION?! It smelled AMAZING! And SUGARY! And CHOOOCOOLAAATEEEYYYY!!!!!!

This potion didn't take long to make, right? Because Aidan could hardly contain himself. If they had to let it stew for a month, or three days, or thirty minutes, HE'D DIE!!!

Anyway, anyway, anyway. He pulled himself from the aroma of his cauldron to listen to Lafay's next instructions. Seven fluxweed with gloves and two spoonfuls of poppyseeds. Easy. Aidan repeated the instructions to himself as he executed them, putting his gloves on and carefully adding the ingredients as directed.

......Waitwhut. They had to cast a spell, too? OH MERLIN. This would be where his potion went wrong. MERLIN. All he wanted was to eat it but he'd probably get the spell wrong and mess everything up and he JUST COULDN'T WAIT THAT LONG TO REDO IT. UGH.

Maybe an older student could do it. And then he'd practice it a bunch after class. But for now, he'd be hopeless. Especially when he was so distracted by the DELICIOUS syrup!!

Glumbumble fluid. Aidan's eyes quickly scanned his ingredients. He picked up the bottle before Lafay could move on, so he wouldn't have to remember that long word that it was called that he already couldn't have remembered without looking at the label.

One tablespoon. Slow. Counter-clockwise.

The Ravenclaw poured out a tablespoon of the Glumbumble fluid, took his wooden spoon, and slowly poured it in as he stirred.

.........So now it was just the spell and THEY COULD EAT??!!

Wade wasn't too sure on what was going on behind him, with what Professor Lafay was taking about to Ethan and Minnie. The potion he was working on, had some of its addicting ingredients and smells. Oh, and he didn't want to mess up, so some parts of others conversation went through one ear and out the other, unless it was instructions. Heh.

He went to the cupboard nearest to take the Glumbumble fluid back to his cauldron. Taking one tablespoon of it, he dropped it in slloooooowly. Oh, look at all that fluid. Then he took the wooden stirrer, wordlessly Scougifying it clean, before using it to stir the mix counter-clockwise as instructed.

West definitely understood this one, it'd counter the crazy euphoria that the ice cream caused right? He watched and then got his Glumbumble fluid from his kit and measured one tablespoon, then carefully drizzled it in and began stirring with his stirrer, counter-clockwise. West put the empty spoon aside and continued stirring.

... it smelled pretty good.

But he meant more was her arm physically alright. As long as it was, they could get through this class and that would be it for the term.. he thought they were about done with the lesson.

He started to move to see how bad the burn was, then green eyes snapped up from Minerva's arm as Lafay came over and applied aloe to the burn. Hopefully the burn wasn't too bad and that would help.. amazing healing properties that plant had. Oh.. His eyes snapped up to her blue ones to see how she was taking the plant, hoping she realized that it really would help her. He wanted nothing more than to take her out of this class, but she had to be here and he was really proud of how well she was handling everything, even with the fire mishap.. or maybe because of it.

Hearing Lafay snap at him, he nodded and put his wand away, turning back to his potion, but staying close to Min. "Yes, ma'am," he said, keeping his eyes at his cauldron. He was only trying to put the fire out, but since Min handled it herself, he had no need for it right now anyway. He pulled his gloves on then began adding his fluxweed blades. One.. two.. three.. He glanced over to Minerva as she began shakily cleaning up the mess. Four.. five.. six.. Then he watched as she filled her cauldron with the base again. Seven..

Couldn't do it? He frowned a bit, watching her put her head in her hands, and he gently placed his hand on her back, leaning in to whisper. "Min.. you can do this.." He knew it was the fire that she was reluctant to cast and he reached for his wand to do it for her. But before he could grab it, he heard Lafay's words and saw her hand. Yeah.. guess that won't be happening.. He turned back to Min and said, "You can do this.. we're almost done now. You are very strong. Show them that this won't beat you. And I'm still right here next to you."

He looked up as he heard what the next ingredient was. He was just slightly behind.. oh. He knew exactly what glumbumble parts did, which only served to confirm one of his earlier suspicions. Good.. he'd add that right after the poppy seeds. He scooped out a spoonful, added it to his potion, then repeated the process. Ethan then retrieved enough glumbumble fluid for himself and his tablemate since that was not one found in his own kit. After he measured it out, he tilted the teaspoon over the cauldron and let it slip off slowly as he picked up his crystal stirrer in his other hand, sticking it in the cauldron and giving the whole mixture a counterclockwise stir.

Minerva heard her voice and tried to compose herself. The fire was going to be the death of her in this class. She saw images in that flame that she couldn't get past how was she going to do this. She just kept shaking her head. Lafay was going to push her over the edge. Maybe she should just leave. Yes that was exactly what she was going to do when she got her breath and her feet. The panic attack was just not leaving. Did she have any calming potion in her bag... No she didn't think she did. No it was time to leave.. Get out of the class as far away from Lafay and Tillstorm and this repeat nightmare that she had been having while sleep, she didn't need it awake as well. Even if Lafay was being nice, but all the other students were in the room of course she was being nice.

She sighed and grabbed her bag she was out.. She didn't care what they did to her she was leaving. Trying to fight the tears that already were on her face she turned to get off her chair when she felt a hand on her back and words from next to her. She looked at him blinking the tears away. She could do this.. How did he know she could do it. She couldn't do it.. Not the flames. Sighing she let the bag drop next to her. She wouldn't leave, but how was she going to do this. Pulling her wand she sighed and tried to stop her shaking hand, "Incendio" Jumping back as the flames started. She jumped away from them and whimpered.. Honestly how was she going to do this.. ""What are the steps again..."

She looked up at the board trying to remember and wiped her tears. Getting another butterbeer, Min dumped it into the cauldron and set the empty bottle aside. She use to be really great a potions and spent so much time in the lab, but now these simple tasks were making her nuts. Taking another deep breath she picked up the Lethe River Water and put six drops in. Alright.. next step.. She glanced up at Lafay as a I'm doing it don't hate me or do anything look. Trying not to look behind her.. Why was Tillstrom here and why was she so quiet.. That scared Minerva.

Pulling out her gloves she placed them on and took the fluxweed. Sighing she dropped untouched into her cauldron. 1..2..3..4...5...6....7. Cleaning the spoon she took two spoon fulls and dumped into the cauldron. Really these ingredients did not sound lovely for her wonderful ice cream. How she just wanted to go hide and eat a ton of the yummy goodness right now to forget all about this class. Sucking in a deep breath to try to keep her self at least partially calm she looked for the next step. Taking off her gloves and setting them aside Minerva took the Glumbumble fluid and measured a tablespoon out and dropped in her cauldron. Putting her clean spoon in her cauldron she started stirring counter clockwise.

Breathing finally slowing she wasn't feeling like she was going to die any longer, but she was still jumpy and just wanted this over with. What was the damn spell so they could move on.

Ew. Fluxweed definitely didn't sound like an ice cream topping ingredient to Anya. But. As per the usual with things that involved her precious ice cream, she was so happy she only vaguely registered what was going on. She slipped on her gloves. She then counted out the blades of fluxweed one at a time until all seven were added to the cauldron. She then carefully measured two spoonfuls of poppyseeds and added them to the cauldron.

Alright. And she was now ready for more instructions.

That also didn't sound very appetizing.

It did sound fun to say though. Glumbumble. Glumbumble. Glummmmbumble. Anya repeated the word in her head a few times accompanied by a little bop. She hummed softly to herself as she slowly poured a teaspoon of the stuff to her potion.

She then grabbed her wooden stirrer and stirred the mixture in a counter clockwise motion as demonstrated.

When was it ice cream time? Anya was having a hard time concentrating on anything else.

Sheesh. All this drama in one Potions class. How dramatic could these people get? With that, Kat was just going to ignore all of them unless she was suddenly dragged into it or when she felt like she needed to state something. For now, no words from the Slytherin prefect. Okay? Thanks. She had a potion to finish and nothing was supposed to disturb her.

Kat took the glumbumble fluid and measured one tablespoon. She added and dropped the fluid into her cauldron slowly, with one hand stirring the unfinished potion counter clockwise. So after this... they were supposed to cast the spell, right? Whatever spell it was.

More waiting.

Hecate spun on her heels as she heard the commotion... not one, no, not even two, but THREE cauldrons were spilled. Fury was starting to bubble inside her like her own cauldron... "Master Branxton!" She began seething... and then she remembered she needed as much of this potion as possible, otherwise she'd have made it all herself. "Master Branxton..." She repeated trying her best for a more patient voice... fail? Maybe... but it was certainly a better tone than before. She summoned the same unction she had used on Wheatborn and took the boy's hand, gently dabbing some on. "I hope this won't happen again, or I shall have to let your father..." Yes, not his mother, who seemed predisposed not to like her teaching style, thanks to the Headmistress' influence no doubt. "...know of your disruptive behaviour. Once, I'll chalk up to clumbsyness, but twice will just be rude and disruptive."

"He didn't break anything... Miss Fischer," She said annoyed... she was already coating the boy's wound. She didn't need someone to tell her what to do. Even the school nurse, who was in the classroom wasn't stepping on her toes. And she would have been excused, because... well... she was the nurse.

"Branxton. Moretti. Fischer. Start over... rest of the class, retrieve your wands, and trace the lip of the cauldron, starting from the spot closest to you, moving clockwise, and when you complete your full circle, flick the wand upward, speaking the enchantment Tristificatus"

Hecate demonstrated the spell on her own cauldron. The syrup became thicker and shinier... sparkly almost. Like a fresh tear.

"Once you achieve this consistency and appearance, remove from the heat and wait a few moments for it to cool. Don't taste it yet..." This was when kids usually were prompted to ask questions. But she wasn't going to do that... She didn't need some kid blowing this and pointing out what the ingredients did.

Derry looked up at Professor Lafay's potion and then back to her own. Hmm. It wasn't that thick yet... did she have to keep stirring it then? Hmm. ...

Stirring and waiting and heating and whatnot...

It was going a bit thicker now. Which was good. ... It was sort of the same consistency as the professors. Nearly. And it didn't seem to be getting any thicker, so she took it off the heat and eyed it curiously.

Now all she had to do was wait for it to cool, yes? So she had time to look up the ingredients in her book. She flicked through the pages and read each ingredient description carefully...

Huh. Well. That was just another reason to add to the not-trying-this list.

Who Am I? Ern's 2460FUN

This was a pretty straight forward potion. Solid. He could totally do this because potions was methodical. All about the details. Made the way Ascanius' mind work make sense, yeah? This and Arithmancy. So he was pretty thrilled this was just chugging along. Bam.

Doing as he was told, the fifteen year old smirked and scooped up one tablespoon of Glumbumble fluid. Say that five times fast. Yeah, exactly. Then he dropped it in slowly and retrieved his wooden stirrer.

Counterclockwise spinning ensued.

And now they were gonna do some fancy wand work. Pfft, whatever. He drew his wand out and traced the lip of the cauldron clockwise starting from the part that was closest to him. See?

Once it made it around the bend a full circle, he flicked his wand up and muttered, "Tristificatus."

Then he EYED his potion. You gonna work now? 'Cause he had done everything correctly. S'all about just following the steps. But had he done it right? He couldn't tell.

Seven blades of Fluxweed. Nod.

The eighteen year old reached that way and almost touched her fluxweed, till she heard the last bit of the sentence. Close one. Gloves, for extra precaution then. Once they were securely on, Nessie got back to work and added the untouched blades of fluxweed.

One done. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six and eventually Seven. Perfect she could now add the two spoons of poppyseeds. Which was wasy, all she did was fill up one spoon to the top and did it a second time to complete the requirements asked.

Finally the last ingredient, Ness nodded at Lafay to show she was listening and actually working. Glumbumble fluid. Wasn't that from some magical creature? Ew. No need to think of where it came from though, she needed to finish. Wooden stirrer in her right hand and tablespoon in her left, Ness slowly dropped the flood in and began stirring counter clockwise up till all of it was in.

Not too hard, potions was actually one of the subjects Nessie liked more, but of course there were many things she disliked about it too. The spell bit was one of the okay bits though and with no problem the red head took out her wand and like always first practiced the wand movement as well as incantation. "Tristificatus." She whispered the first time, and once being able to say it right she performed the spell fully. First she traced the lip bit closest to her and just like Lafay said she traced onwards going clockwise till she reached the beginning again. Upward flick! "Tristificatus!" she cast the spell and immediately noticed the change in her potion. Shinier and thicker those were the effects.

Correct then yep? Or waaait she needed to remove it from the heat. She did so and waited for what to do next.

What happened to Mo? Aidan stood up on his tiptoes to see past the taller heads, but it hardly worked. All he could see was his head and Alice's and Cat's. And those all looked perfectly fine.

Oh well, maybe he'll ask after class. Maybe it was some cool story. Maybe he had a war wound and battle scar. That'd be wicked!

But for now.......UGH. It was the part he was going to mess up in. And the spell was stupid, too. Long and confusing and, "Tristicus. Tristificatus. Trisfictius. Tistificicactus," he mumbled quietly to himself, staring longingly at the syrup he couldn't eat yet. A few moments later of silent staring, he raised his hand and rested his arm lazily against his head, "Can I not do the spell myself cause I don't want to mess up and charms are hard?" And he really wanted to eat the syrup as soon as possible because YUM.

Annabeth listened attentively to the teacher's instructions. She definitely loved Potions! And this class was doing well, it were not for her little dizzy problem. Hopefully she would eat something and it would be solved soon. All that she needed was take deep breath avoiding the nauseating sweet steam from the cauldrons. It was becoming almost impossible, as the environment was filled with sweet steams. She raised the uniform's collar and covered her nose. It would be better that way and hopefully she'd get finish her potion.

The girl took the bottle of Glumbumble fluid and with a tablespoon she measured the required quantity to add to the potion. She put it into the cauldron and with her free hand, she began stirring the potion counter clockwise with a wooden stirrer.

With her nose covered with her uniform as it was a handkerchief, it becoming uncomfortable for her and some sweat drops were falling from her forehead, she took care for them not drop into the cauldron. The potion was almost done and she didn't want to mess it up at the very end.

Oh, a new spell! She pulled out the stirrer from the cauldron and put it aside. Then Anna grabbed her wand. Before casting the spell, she mentally repeated Hecate's movements and her words. Then she repeated the movements with her wand without pointing it to her cauldron, checking if it seemed similar to Hecate's. Then, feeling confident, she pointed her wand to the lip of the cauldron, completed a clockwise moving starting from the part which was almost touching her body, flicked the wand upwards and said: "Tristificatus". The potion became thicker and shinier, just as the professor has demonstrated. She pointed her wand towards the fire and said: "finite", took her cauldron aside and waited for it to cool.

The air was still nauseating, then she sat on the floor avoiding the stems. With the back of her hand, she dried her forehead and muttered: "Professor Hecate, please, don't make me taste it." She knew that it was not worth asking Hecate something like that. The professor had had lots of problems to solve in the lesson today and a teacher yelling or glaring at her was all that Anna wanted to avoid.

Alright, it was time for the spell. Kat took her wand out and watched as Professor Lafay demonstrated the spell in front for all of them. Tristificatus. What another tongue twister, really. She observed everything her Head of House did and listened to every word she said... so that nothing dumb happened, that is. Okay, Kat could do that.

Tracing the lip of the cauldron just as Professor Lafay had said, the prefect still looked inside it. The contents and stuff. Clockwise direction and the spot closest to her blablabla. Once the circle was done, Kat flicked her wand upwards. "Tristificatus!"

STAAAAAARE. She got it, yeah? Her potion was sparkly and shiny. That was supposed to be the outcome right? Can they cure all of the ice cream crazies now? Merlin, Kat just wanted the sanity of Hogwarts back.

Penelope raised an eyebrow as even more people messed up and spilled their potions, this time three in a row. So weird. Lafay had it covered though and now they were moving on, so the Gryffindor went back to ignoring it.

Spell time now though. Merlin. Okay, deep breath. Tristificatus. That was...really long and complicated but...she could do it, right? Just say it a few times. Tris-ti-fi-ca-tus. Tristificatus. Tristificatus. "Tristificatus," she mumbled, trying it out loud. Yeah, not too bad once you got used to it.

She grabbed her wand again and then, starting from the side closest to, she traced it around her cauldron clockwise and, focusing, said, "Tristificatus." And....it seemed to work? Looked like the professor's did. So...yay? Yay.

So now that it looked as it was supposed to, she turned off the heat for it to cool. Now...they just had to wait?

Cassia watched what was going on with interest. She hadn't been paying attention to that part of the classroom earlier so it was hard to tell what exactly happened. Not that it mattered since it resulted in Cat and Mo starting over. Must have added something unnecessarily. Or the opposite.

The fourth-year reached for her wand and copied the professor's moves of drawing a circle tracing the cauldron's lip. Once the circle was complete she uttered. "Tristificatus," She peered at it and waited to let the syrup to cool watching all what was happening. Good thing there was always something happening so no one would get bored.

But the snake wondered if her potion or syrup in this case, had turned out to be the same as the professor's. She reached for a spoon and dipped it into the syrup then pulled it up. It was shining. Maybe something they added caused that, or perhaps that's what the spell did. She wouldn't know. Her curiosity urged her to taste it but Lafay said not to do so. No need to tick off the woman especially that lots have been complaining and asking lots of questions.

So she'll just wait and watch the others.

OH WOW COOL MO NEARLY BLEW UP SOMETHING!!! Having cauldrons get knocked over was as close as she'd seen anyone get so far in this particular class but see, these things obviously weren't that explosive because all he got was a burn...? Was it a burn? Sure, she'd go with that. It was still epic.

Ahem but she had to focus because new spell! With some luck and knowing her wand, she'd get this wrong and just have to have the ice-cream without the syrup, really it wouldn't have been that a big a deal for her. Honest.

Tristificatus.

That was like a mouthful. What were the odds that she'd have a slip of the tongue half way through the incantation? Or maybe her wand would just be on strike again? It liked doing that. "Tris-ti-fi-ca-tus....tristi-fica-tus...trissss-teee-fee-ca-tuuss." Gotta get this right, make it look like she was trying and all that.

She traced the circle around the cauldron as instructed but just before she flicked the wand up she heard Aidan's question and her hand shot into the air. "Can I practice on his before giving mine a try...just in cas--I mean to help him out." If she got it wrong he could thank her because she wasn't sure he wanted to lose his memory. Besides, practice made perfect.

Default A Question Professor!
Stephanoodle || Adorable Nerd

Kace heard the professor, she sounded like she was in a bad mood. He went to retrieve his wand from his robes and saw the professor demonstrate. So he had to trace the lip of the cauldron. That shouldn't be too bad. He had to start from the spot closest to you? Erghhh.....alright?? I guess he found the spot? He had to move clockwise. He knew that bit.

He traced a full circle, not saying the spell of course and flicked it upward. Now he had to learn to say the spell. Erghhh.....what was it again? Tristificatus....that what it was! Now how in the name of merlin was he gonna say it?

"Tris-ti-fi-ca-tus.....Tris-ti-fi-ca-tus......Tris-ti-fi-ca-tus.....Tris-ti-fi-ca-tus.." he said that to himself a couple of times.

He attempted to put it all together.
"Tristificatus....Tristificatus....Tristificatus.. ..Tristificatus!"

Yayay!!! He was getting the hang of it now! Now he had to put the wand movement and the spell ALL together now.

He pointed his wand closest to him. He spun his wand clockwise and traced a full circle and flicked it upward and said "Tristificatrus!" and he hoped it worked. He didn't know if he said it right.

Kace raised his hand, "Ergghhh...Professor can you see if i did mine right?" he asked unsure. It didn't seem to look clear or teary at all.

He did chuckle at his comment though. "I really don't mind" he gave the kid a small smile before continuing. "I used to be so horrible at potions during my first year, kept blowing up the cauldron each lesson" Ah the memories~ And now look at him!

While Daichi watched how Asher added the ingredients, he also listened to Lafay's next instructions. He grabbed a piece of parchment, quickly dipped his quill in the ink and wrote the steps down in a hand writing that only he seemed to understand at the moment.

But it turned out that he didn't have to write it down as Asher already repeated what the professor had just said. And he was right. "I don't think you actually need help with potions" the Prefect said as he pointed his wand at the wooden stirrer.

He cleaned it with a Scourgify before adding a table spoon of fluid in to the cauldron. "I think your head may be too much in the clouds, 'cause i think that if you focus you are pretty good in this subject" he said and began to stir the mixture inside the cauldron counter clockwise.

"Don't forget to clean the stirrer first with Scourgify , i know the Professor hadn't said it but better safe than not right?"

"Thanks. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has had a hard time with potions. Seems like everyone here is an expert already." Asher followed Daichi's instructions and commanded "Scourgify" at the stirrer before finishing the step.

Watching his potion swirl around before him, Asher spoke to his helper "I think you are right. I do spend too much time with my head in the clouds. My grandma is always saying that. Always." He grinned thinking about home and how close the end of the year was.

Looking up at him "You are a seventh year, right? Where will you go after you graduate?" Asher fumbled with his stirrer, not paying much attention, and almost knocked over his cauldron.

SPOILER!!: next step

"Oh, the next step" he said as he tried to write down the steps as the professor spoke. Asher picked up his wand and began tracing the lip of his cauldron, starting just before him and following around in a clockwise direction. Just as the wand approached the start of the circle, he flicked it up and commanded "Tristificatus" hoping it would work.

He was getting the hang of it. The syrup took on a thicker and shinier appearance almost instantly. Leaning further over the syrup, Asher also noticed the slight sparklyness of it. "Look, Daichi, look! I think I did it."

Oh?

Alec blinked, completely taken aback at the fact that the girl had come up to talk to him. Not that he minded, of course. He just... wasn't used to that. He grinned nonetheless and waved back. "It's nice to meet you! And the name's Alec!" Wave! ... And... the incident of her sleeping or whatever it was? Alec just shook his head and smiled some more, sort of trying to tell her that she had nothing to apologise for. And he would have opened his mouth to say something but...

... Lafay. Woman was dangerous.

And speaking of Lafay, man, how much had he missed?! He smiled again at the girl before turning his attention back towards the potion. Right. Seven blades of fluxweed, right? He strapped on his gloves, wiggling his fingers as he did so, before taking up seven blades of fluxweed and adding those in. There. He then measured out a spoonful of poppyseeds and added that into the potion before repeating the process once more.

Glumbumble fluid? Wasn't... that used to cure... something?

Okay, no, he didn't know. Alec shook his head, as if to shake the thought out of his head, and held the teaspoon in his right hand while his left hand held onto the wooden stirrer. He tilted his right hand and slowly dropped the fluid in, all the while moving the wooden stirrer counter clockwise. This... was like that pat your head, rub your belly thing. And Lafay had made it look easy -- the potions process, that is -- with her demonstration when it wasn't. It. Was. HARD.

There was a lot of commotion too but... the sixteen year old kept his eyes on his own cauldron this time. He... hesitated. Tristificatus? That sounded so... hard. Again. And difficult to pronounce. "Tristificatus..." he whispered to himself, "Tristificatus... Tristificatus..." He reached into his robes and took out his wand. Right. Breathe... breathe... circle clockwise and flick wand up... breathe... "Tristificatus!" he said, tracing the lip of the cauldron before flicking his wand up.

... Blink. Stare. Was this right? It looked... shiny, at least.

Taking this as a sign that things were okay, he turned off the heat to let the potion cool. There. They were done, yeah? GRIN.

She whispered the first time, and once being able to say it right she performed the spell fully.

"Great job." She said and moved on.

WHAT IN HADES NAME!

All she wanted to do was scream at the boy. There were FIRST years that were doing the spell just fine! Calm down... she needed to get this all done.

Hecate went to the boy's side and said through gritted teeth "Now watch me so you can know how to do it next time." She performed the spell for him. It was the quickest way she knew of fixing the issue at hand. Color and consistency changed. At least the boy mixed the ingredients correctly.

She put a peppermint toad on the desk. "This will kill whatever kind of nausea you have." She WILL taste her syrup, or someone elses. "And it's Professor Lafay. That's how you should address me." She said containing her anger.

"That's good." She said nodding to her prefect.

"Good Job." She said nodding at the girl's potion.

"Good Job Summerlad." She said.

"No, work on your own potion." She said. "Get someone to help if you need the practice."

She walked over and shook her head. "No... but you haven't ruined it. Try one more time."

"Yes, you did." She said and nodded. "Good Job."

GRIN.
"Looks good, good job." She said.

Uh... oh. "...oh... I... yeah..." Her wand was in her hand, she'd just forgotten to actually do it. "Can't concentrate with everyone bein' loud..." she mumbled. Then she did the wand movement carefully - absolutely convinced she'd already done it but there you go. "Tristificatus..."

Oh. See... that looked better now...
"Much better," She said and nodded.

"ALRIGHT! HOMEWORK. Bring your cauldron to the Great Hall, we're going to have an ICE CREAM FEAST. You will need to taste someone else's syrup, you can taste as many as you want. Get as many people to taste your syrup as you can. THIS IS ALL FREE..." She said. "This is worth 20 points!"

Well fiiiiine. She didn't want to cast on Aidan's cauldron anyway. She had her own to work on. Hmph! She turned to her own cauldron once more. The incantation was gotten from when she was practising it the first time. All that was left was to put it into practice--so no, she wouldn't be needing anyone's help.

Lex traced the cauldron again in the clockwise direction like she was meant to then flicked her wand up.

"Tristificatus!"

Her eyebrows raised as she stared at it in wonder. Would it work? It had to. Apparently this was homework of some kind and she wasn't about to get herself killed because of a spell gone wrong. After a bit she saw it changing until it was just as the Professor had described it...

She was meant to be happy she got it right but..eh--ICE FEAST THOUGH!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!!
