Hecate had the vial of ice cream in her hands and she was twisting it between her fingers.
She opened it, smelled it and then corked it again...
She was waiting for the kids to file in... They needed to start this potion soon... very soon.
ooc: This class will be faster than the usual classes. It will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!
Hecate watched as most kids went for the chocolate, some went for the others. But for most, chocolate was it. Alright. On to the potion.
She scurgified her cauldron and added the Marshmallow. She set the fire on a low hear. "Keep the heat low, you don't want to burn it. You will need to add one butterbeer," She said "and then six drops of Lethe River Water."
Forrest used a muggle match, specifically sent by his parents to light the burner, and lowered the fire like Professor instructed them. He then added a butterbeer--would Professor see him taking a sip? He had heard it tasted amazing--and added six drops of the water thing. Lethe River... what was it? A river in England? Why that particular one?
Questions that he would never have the courage to ask her. So much fun.

Mmm... butterbeer. That sounded yummy right about now. But Theo would've never thought to have used it in a potion before. He guessed you really could use ANYTHING. He made sure his heat was relatively low, before adding one butterbeer to his potion.
Lethe River water? Hmmmm........
Well, Theo didn't know what it was so he didn't question it. Six drops went straight on in with no problems.

So it was a bit of fibbing... but she wanted the students to eat it.
"Let's start with a base for this. There are few." She said motioning to a table with ingredients, "Chocolate, Caramel, Butterscotch and Marshmallow... All work well, so chose the one that is more appealing to you, and put it to fill halfway in your cauldron."
Yes....she said YES!
Daichi literally bounced in his seat as he stared at the Professor with huge twinkling eyes. Or rather, how big his eyes could get mweh... This was going to be the BEST LESSON this year and the Slytherin was ready for it.
He listened to the instructions that the Professor was giving and gasped again when he saw the ingredients, especially the chocolate. He squealed with excitment, not caring how unmanly it sounded and clapped his hands. Tears were actually forming in his eyes but they were obviously tears of happiness since he also had a huge childish smile on his face.
Wasting no time, the Prefect jumped out of his chair, speed walked to grab the chocolate. He then grabbed his wand from its wrist holster and used the scourgify spell to clean the cauldron before adding in the chocolate.
HE WAS STILL RESPONSIBLE~ :3
at last he placed the chocolate in the cauldron till it was halfway full.

Now came a part that, despite the Slytherin's happiness made him flinch a little. Set fire. He knew he had done that over and over again over the past seven years but he still felt a little scared whenever doing it. Taking a deep breath , he said "Incendio" and made the fire burn low under the cauldron. Now the fire wasn't that visible so it was all good again.
FOCUS ON ICE CREAM AND CHOCOLATE YO~!
.....butterbeer? Why butterbeer? he didn't like butterbeer! Daichi POUTED his lips no he did not look like a duck even if others said that but still added a bit. Next he picked up a vial of Lethe River Water and counted his drops.
1...2...3...4...5...6...taking the vial back, Daichi beamed when he was ready.

While waiting for the next instruction, Cassia took a look around watching others and seeing what did they choose. Good to know about people's favorite flavour. Not that she was going to memorize them or anything. But it was interesting at the time. Her spyingwatching was interrupted by the next instruction. The fourth-year turned her attention to Lafay. Cassia checked the heat and turned it down as instructed. Then she went and retrieved one butterbeer. For once, the ingredients weren't disgusting. Like worms and blood and all those stuffs. Good thing.
Once she got a butterbeer and a bottle of Lethe River Water, she placed them next to her carefully. Could they have a butterbeer? Ehhh. Probably not. After uncapping the bottle, she poured it into the cauldron slowly. Then she went for the Lethe River Water. Carefully she tilted the container and started counting. "One....Two....Threee.." She tented to count a bit audibly because she always loses count in her head. "Four...fiiiive and six," There! Added.
She peered at the liquid and sat back waiting for further instructions.

Low, why low? she liked the warmth... She looked at the professor and watched her, following her movements and repeated it. She added the butterbeer, (what a strange thing to add to the cauldron...) and she added the six drops of Lethe River Water. This was not so difficult, but she still didn't liked it. She didn't wanted to eat ice-cream or doing something with it. And making Syrup wasn't something she wanted to do at the moment...
Okay, she was done with the Syrup, what now? She looked bored at the professor, wondering when the lesson would be more fun.

With the marshmallow as her base and filled halfway her cauldron, Kat waited for the next set of instructions. Fire. So... they were supposed to heat it. Duh, they heated their potions most of the time. Wasn't an exemption. The prefect set fire and kept it low just as Professor Lafay demonstrated.
And then Lethe River Water. Yeah the others were right about the forgetting thing. Kat didn't know what it was used for in this potion so she was quite keen in learning the answer to Biter's question. And while she did that, Kat dropped six drops of the liquid inside her cauldron.
Hopefully this wouldn't cause any memory loss. There were just SOME things Kat didn't want to forget at all. Ahem.

Keep the heat low... "Incendio!" he said, pointing his wand at the underside of the cauldron. Making sure that the heat was low, he reached over and grabbed the bottle of butterbeer before looking between it and the caramel base in his cauldron. This... was weird. Did butterbeer and ice cream make a good combination? Waffles and ice cream did. And so did pancakes.
But butterbeer and ice cream... butterbeer ice cream... it didn't sound bad...
Shaking his head, Alec poured the butterbeer into his cauldron and set the bottle down. Next... Lethe River, with its fancy shaped bottle. One... two.. three... four... five... six drops went into the cauldron before that fancy bottle was set down too. Maybe the Lethe River helped with the enhancing taste part too! GRIN.

Marigold lowered the heat on her cauldron and added some butterbeer. That was an odd ingredient. Then one, two, three, four, five, six drops of the Lethe River Water. She noted that the professor had chosen marshmallow base.
"Nice choice Professor!" Marshmallow was her second choice. She was still happy, but now a bit more sluggish.

Sarah watched the choices of those around her. It was funny how they all had different tastes. Of course she was chocolate lover so her choice was obvious. She wrote down some instructions

Ice cream hugs were nice! Ella gave Anya a quick squish and a BEAM before looking back up at Professor Lafay for the next instructions. One of the instructions was going to be to eat this stuff, yeah? Cause it sounded kind of delicious.
Heat next? Ella pointed her wand under her cauldron and said, "Incendio!" BEAM! It was heating nicely now, the caramel. Ella had the urge to dip something in it but she sadly didn't have any snacks on her. Caramel coated gummy worms did sound lovely, though.
Next up was the butterbeer. The blonde had never considered adding the stuff to a sundae before but it actually wasn't such a bad idea. She made a note to try this next time she was making one in the kitchen. Ella added one in and then looked back up, wondering what was next.
Six drops of Lethe River Water...The blonde wracked her brain, trying to remember why that particular river sounded familiar. She couldn't put her finger on it but she was pretty sure it had to do with the underworld or something. Hm. Maybe those underworlders just needed ice cream or something.
Once he had his chocolate base, Ethan glanced up as Lafay started reciting their next set of instructions. Low heat, got it.. He wordlessly cast Incendio to his burner, turning the flame down before setting his cauldron back on it.
He started to head up to get some butterbeer from the front since that particular ingredient was not in his supply kit, when he glanced over at Minerva who still seemed very distressed. He didn't blame her one bit, being in this class after what they'd been through, but he realized the fire had to be difficult for her as well. He opened his mouth to say something to her when he saw that she was able to cast the fire on her own. He leaned over with a small smile and whispered, "You're doing really well." He then made his way up to get a bottle of butterbeer before returning to his seat next to her.
The Prefect uncorked the bottle, emptying the contents into the cauldron, and glanced around a bit as a handful of people questioned the ingredients. He tried to ignore them, growing increasing edgy for one, being in the dungeons again and two, his desperateness to believe this potion could do what he so needed to believe. But he didn't know if it was just his paranoia after months of observation and trying to sort things out. For now, he tried to push thoughts and voices of malcontent out of his head while he focused on this potion.
Giving Min one more small, reassuring smile, he turned back to his cauldron, keeping his face calm and devoid of any further emotion. Six drops of Lethe River water.. One.. Two.. Three.. Four.. Five.. Six.

Eeehhhh... Sophie wasn't in the mood... though when it was time to lit the fire, she got slightly more interested, because it was a spell and spells were always fun. Or almost always.
After making sure the fire she started was in a low heat like professor Lafay had demonstrated, Sophie looked up just in time to hear what the next ingredient was.
UUURGHHHBLEEEEURGH!!!!!
Butterbeer, ohnooo! And what in the world? That sounded more like one of her grandma's crazy desserts. And way TOO sweet! Blargh.
The girl made a face but followed the instructions, adding the butterbeer and then the six drops of Lethe River Water. Only then Alice asked her question, which made Sophie's eyes widen and made her certain to not take this 'Potion'. It was already too sweet and now this!

Right, fire. That was always important in potions it seemed like. Always had to have a fire under it to cook and brew and whatever. Penelope pulled out her wand and muttered, "Incendio," concentrating hard on keeping the flame low and not out of control. Once satisfied that it was low enough, she put her wand away and grabbed the butterbeer. This was good stuff. Not sure how it went with chocolate, but oh well. She wasn't opposed to strange combinations.
After pouring the butterbeer in, she raised an eyebrow at the next ingredient. River water? Interesting. It wasn't until a couple others spoke up that she considered the name. Memory loss? She'd be lying if she said there weren't things she'd like to forget about...but there was also lots that she definitely didn't want to forget. WAS that what this potion syrup thing was actually designed to do? Hmm...
She wasn't sure she'd be trying this thing, but she carefully added the one, two, three, four, five, six drops into her cauldron - and then her attention was grabbed by some younger kid passing out. Er...?

Asher grinned when he saw the professor add marshmallows to her cauldron like he had.
Following the instructions as best as he could, Asher turned his fire on low and added the ingredients. "Alright, 6 butterbeers and one drop of Lethe River Water." At that point, his cauldron was overflowing onto the table and dripping on the floor. Marshmallows were floating out and on the table, floor, and even his robes.
He quickly tried to mop up the mess, but he only had his robes to catch the liquid with, so it wasn't doing any good. In an attempt to hide the mess, he moved to the side of his table, hoping his little body would be enough to keep the professor from seeing it.
After Kace filled his cauldron halfway up with Chocolate sauce, he heard the next set of directions. He had to set the heat on low. He turned his fire on low and then he added the butterbeer he needed to add. He only added ONE. He remembered that little detail.
Then he saw he needed to add six drops of Lethe River Water? Hmm...interesting ingredient to chose. He got the dropper out of his supplies and filled up his pipet and added, one....two....three....four...five....six! There he was done! He waited for the next set of directions.
Again with this DUMB ice cream thing. This was really starting to get on his nerves, the stress on the whole ice cream thing. Yeah, sure, it was cute and all when the girls giggled and stuff, but the whole MALE population was starting to freak him out. And he was gonna start handing out punches to those idiots. Nod. So they had to stop with the ice cream. Even Professors now. Pfft.
But he was gonna do as he was told, so he grabbed the chocolate and then turned his cauldron on low. After he did the five C's of course, 'cause he didn't need to be getting in trouble and stuff. Nah, it was more fun to see OTHER people have that happen to them.
Once that was good he added the chocolate and then waited for the next set of instructions. C'mon now.
He kept his heat low and then added, tada, one butterbeer. It added a nice texture to it. And whatever. BUT the weirder part was the Lethe River Water, which he added six drops to. "One, two, three, four, five," AND, "six."
Syrup... eww... that was almost as bad as ice cream itself. But she guessed she probably didn't have to eat it. Hopefully. Cause you know... allergies. Allergies were rubbish. It's why she didn't like ice cream and all that kind of stuff.
Anyway, back to the important matter of not failing all her classes because she was always in her daydreams. Potions. She quickly cleaned her cauldron and half filled her cauldron with the marshmallow base, scribbling down each step after she did it.
Okay, now butterbeer... Derry was about to drop the liquid into her cauldron when she realised she hadn't lit it yet. Oops. That was nearly disastrous. She lit the heat and turned it low. Good. That was better. Crisis averted. NOW it was time to put the butterbeer in. She did this quite easily, which wasn't exactly surprising since putting a bit of butterbeer in a cauldron wasn't exactly a difficult task. Now for the fancy pants Lethe River Water.
BLINK. BLINK. STARE. ... Was she sleeping or...? No, sleeping with your face in a cauldron was just weird. Especially in Lafay's class. Weird and probably not allowed because, you know, Lafay. Not much more needed to be said about that.

...
"Erm... Professor Lafay?" he said, looking over at the Potions Mistress with his hand half-raised in the air, "I think we have a problem..."
It was the better dream she had already dreamed: so sweet and she could feel the caramel sea waves gently rocking her back and forth. Suddenly it was a tremendous storm that was shaking her vigorously and brought her down into the sea. Annabeth gasped. Her mouth was filled with the potion and there was a boy who was shaking her. At least the potion wasn't hot yet. She looked at him, dizzy and embarrassed, and said:
"Thank you." And then she grabbed his arm and sat down, released his arm, looked at him: "are you an angel?"
She took a deep breath. Little by little she became aware of where she was and what was happening there. "Potions! My potion!" She looked into her cauldron desperately. It seemed that the potion hadn't suffered any damage. She gave a sigh of relief.
Annabeth picked up her wand and held it for a little, unsure if she should clean herself by using the Tergeo spell or not. As the Badger was still dizzy, she thought that it would be better to clean herself by using Muggle's means. She searched into her bag and found a handkerchief. Quickly she cleaned her face and then raised her hand and asked the teacher: "Professor Hecate, please. Could you take a closer look at my potion to check if it is still ok?"

She slipped quietly into the room so as not to disturb the students. Lafay may be her friend but she didn't want to be on the woman's bad side. Looking towards the front of the room she gave a nod to the professor but kept her face expressionless.
Now, where should she stand to watch what was going on?

No, really... how was that a thing? It sounded pretty suspect to him, and Mo decided he would accept any and all ice cream, but he didn't want toppings that made ice cream all unnatural.
Still, Mo mussed Alice's hair and tugged Cat's as he squeezed past to head up to the front in order to grab a base liquid for his potion. Marshmallow was likely to burn at the same heat that the other two would merely cook, and it was way more viscous. So he'd choose that one, for the challenge.
Back at his seat, Mo scourgified his cauldron and added the marshmallow just as Lafay told them to add a butterbeer and... river water? That was extremely unsanitary. "Professor," Mo's hand shot up and he wiggled his fingers at her. "What are the properties of that... water stuff? And is it really safe to eat on ice cream?" HMMM?
"It's perfectly safe..." she said, but she covered up her concern with the other part of the question. She didn't want the students to know... Maybe she'd ignore the question... maybe they'd forget about it.

With that decided, the cheerful Hufflepuff set the heat on underneath his cauldron, making sure it was low, and glancing at other students around him to make sure his flame was similar to theirs. Then he drained a full bottle into the cauldron.
As he was about to add the river water, Tobias suddenly stalled. He'd heard what that Ravenclaw chaser dude (Toby totally remembered him) had said, and it made him bite his lip. That was a good question, because river water could be icky, but then Tobias remembered all the other kinds of things that were in potions and which were usually ingested in them. AND this professor wouldn't do ANYTHING to hurt them, obviously. That's what the buzzers thought at the seminar anyway.
So after that moment's hesitation, Tobias added 6 drops of the river water to his cauldron.
But it did pose one point that piqued his curiosity, and Toby raised his hand. "Why the Lethe River? Is there something special about it?" he asked the professor. "I never heard of Lethe before. Is it in Scotland?"
She wanted to say, Because I said so, but she knew the kids would be suspicious.... "Lethe River Water is the tastiest..." She said and moved on.

.. mm, ice cream.
Why did they need to add things to it, again? Just butterscotch was fine, too, Alice wasn't one for fancy. Heat low, she added a butterbeer as instructed, and then six drops of the Lethe river water. .. Lethe? "Professor, I thought Lethe river water induced memory loss. Deliberately forgetting??? What was the point in that???
"Can I start over?? I still have caramel and butterscotch here at the table plus an extra bottle of butterbeer." Seee? All good. She could just...uh...forget the lethe river water, it couldn't have been all that important in the first place. Most syrups she knew were good so long as they had sugar.
And now she was giving her cauldron odd looks. She didn't WANT to go forgetting things.
"Don't worry about the the memory loss, this dosage is too low for it to matter." She repeated... What little memory loss they would have would be related to the ice cream... they would forget how delicious it was... but that was it.

BLINK. BLINK. STARE. ... Was she sleeping or...? No, sleeping with your face in a cauldron was just weird. Especially in Lafay's class. Weird and probably not allowed because, you know, Lafay. Not much more needed to be said about that.
And this was an ICE CREAM class! You don't sleep through one of those.
Trying not to frown, Alec shuffled closer towards the younger student and shook her shoulder gently. "Hello? Erm... Lady?" It was okay to call her that, right? "Can you hear me? Hello?"Shake shake shake...
...
"Erm... Professor Lafay?" he said, looking over at the Potions Mistress with his hand half-raised in the air, "I think we have a problem..."
YA THINK?!
She raised her wand to summon her smelling salts, but child woke. Good.

She looked in the cauldron and rolled her eyes, "It's just fine. Now listen, and follow my instructions."

At that point, his cauldron was overflowing onto the table and dripping on the floor.
She shot a spell at the boy's cauldron, making it's contents disappear. "You have one more chance to get it right, or you can sit this one out." Then she said in a loud voice to the rest of the class "I need a prefect to show him how it's done!"

Now, where should she stand to watch what was going on?
Oh yes, right there she thought as she moved over and leant up against the wall, right behind her two most recent victims prefect bug breath and his not so bald anymore crazy girlfriend.
She felt someone else behind her. She turned and saw the only woman on staff she considered a friend. "Healer Tillstorm. Come on in... Just holding a potion's lesson."

... perfect.
"Not in this dose...." She said shortly.
"Don't worry about the the memory loss, this dosage is too low for it to matter." She repeated... What little memory loss they would have would be related to the ice cream... they would forget how delicious it was... but that was it.

"Captain Montmorency is right... calm down." She said.
What?! HUH! Why did the kid faint?

Minerva was fidgeting in her chair, could they just get this lesson over with.. Pleeeaase.. She just really needed as far away from the dungeon and Lafay as possible. Her hands were shaking, her heart racing, she really felt like an anxiety attack might come at any moment. Plus her eyes flashed towards the flames under the cauldron. Come on Lafay get on with the next step already....
Why did she feel like someone was behind her.. She was in the last workstation in the back.. No one could be behind her, but yet it felt like someone was watching.. Just as she was going to think it was a ghost Lafay looked up and spoke.. Did she just say... Turning Minerva looked in horror as she saw Tillstorm.. WHY WAS TILLSTORM THERE.... Tillstorm.. Lafay.. Dungeons... No.. NO.. this had to be a dream.. a bad dream.. the detention started swirling in her mind. This was not happening not again.. She felt her breathing pick up and she spun back around to face front to quickly loosing her balance off her seat grabbing for something before falling she hit her cauldron knocking it to the floor and having her robes hit the flame causing the arm to catch fire..
FIRE... FIRE... AGAIN....
She screamed as she saw the flame on her robes.. Not again.. not again.. this was happening again, but this time it hurt.. Her skin was burning this time.. MAKE IT STOP... She pulled her wand "Aguamenti" water hitting her robes and the flames going out. She stood blinking at the workstation, tears running down her face again, her breathing short and panicked.. Her face beat red as she was humiliated in front of the class.
"I... I'm sorry professor... " Now she was really going to get it from Lafay... If she thought her hair being burned off was bad.. She wanted to hide behind Ethan or run out of the room, but the panic attack that she was feeling and her feet frozen to the ground was not going to let her. She just forced herself to sit and cradled her hurt arm. She needed to clean up the mess that she had made, but just the presence of those two together again... She wasn't function.. why did she come to the class... She needed to go hide some where and eat a hug bowl of ice cream...
Tobias wrinkled his nose and looked into his cauldron. Other people were saying that it caused memory loss, but that was SILLY. Rivers didn't cause memory loss. Alright, it could be a MAGIC river but Toby didn't believe that this stuff would make them forget things because WHY would the professor want that? And see? She just said that they wouldn't forget.
But Tobias was super curious about this nice tasting river. When he was seven he'd fallen into a river when in the country with his family and he'd gotten a taste of it and it was GROSSSSSS. He'd had to go to a doctor and everything to make sure it didn't make him ill because sometimes there were yucky things in rivers.
He raised his hand. "What makes it taste so good, Professor?" Tobias asked curiously, stretching up onto his tip-toes and bouncing excitedly on the balls of his feet. Wow. A magic river that tasted good. There had to be some super awesome magic to do with that. That river would be a good place to camp at.

Uh-huh...she wasn't really convinced...any kind of memory loss was a big deal to her. She liked remembering things. What if it made her forget something she thought was important that the Professor wouldn't have seen a problem with her forgetting. NO THANKS.
Oh and the Healer. "HAI HEALER TILLSTORM!!" BEAM. "Have you come for ice-cream syrup too? You can have mine, I don't think I'll be using it afterall." There was chocolate syrup in the kitchen, she'd just have some of that. No problem.
"Er...Professor...? Can I sit this one out?" She asked, popping another marhmallow into her mouth. This one she'd dipped in caramel and it had SUCH a nice taste. Mmmm. SUUUUGAR. Lex helped herself to another. Might as well get comfy while she watched the others brewing. Alice didn't seem all that much like she was into this idea so it couldn't have been that great and Mo had raised a good question about how safe it was to be placed on ice-cream. She didn't want it ruining it.
No thanks.

Aidan caught himself drooling while pouring the chocolate, so as he continued and moved on, sucked his lip instead. Kept the drool inside his mouth that way. Besides, the drooling plus bouncing could lead to airborne drool that could fly into the cauldron and end in death, right?
He put the chocolate on low heat like Lafay said and.........ADD BUTTERBEER?!! BUTTERBEER IN POTIONS??!!!! THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE BEST. POTION. EVER!!!!!!
The bouncing didn't stop as he added his BUTTERBEER!!!!!! ...And, of course, the 6 drops of L-whatever river water.
BUT THERE WAS JUST BUTTERBEER AND CHOCOLATE AND A IIIIIIIIIITTY BITTY BIT OF WATER IN THIS POTION IT WAS GOING TO BE DELICIOUS!!!
