Hecate had the vial of ice cream in her hands and she was twisting it between her fingers.
She opened it, smelled it and then corked it again...
She was waiting for the kids to file in... They needed to start this potion soon... very soon.
ooc: This class will be faster than the usual classes. It will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

Ooooooh, what a fun potion.
Despite his dodgy tummy, Theo was excited to get going especially when Professor Lafay listed off all of the bases that they could use. Could they use them ALL? Theo pondered between chocolate and caramel, but eventually chose caramel. He grabbed some of that, then sat in front of his cauldron, where he started pouring it in immediately. Uhhhhhh-oh. Theo stopped midway because he had forgotten to clean the cauldron first.
..........
Ah well...
He continued until the cauldron was half full.

Aidan had NO idea there was a way to MAKE it! Especially all potion-y like and this was VERY exciting!! He bounced in place waiting for Lafay to finish her loooooooooooooooooooooong directions and they could START!!
The boy quickly cleaned his cauldron and studied the bases. Chocolate? Or marshmallow? Or chocolate? Or...........CHOCOLATE. He filled his cauldron half way with CHOCOLATE.

Oh? This sounded promising. She would have preferred to make a potion that would make cupcakes last longer, but like, ice cream was a good alternative to that, so it was still cool. Cat made eyes at the options and pondered a moment before selecting marshmallow. She DID love chocolate, but today was going to be a marshmallow day. Yummy.
She filled her cauldron half way as told and was well pleased about her choice. Mmmmm. Marshmallowy.
'Yes, there is, and you can go to nurse for it' was what she wanted to say, but she needed a huuuuuge batch of this, so it was all hands on desk. "Here..." She said and handed the girl a vial of Wideye Potion.
---------
"All right class... today we are going to make a special kind of potion. All you who have been enjoying this ice cream will love adding this syrupy potion on top of it. It will enhance the taste, and..." She thought a moment and then added, "and make it last a long time."
"Let's start with a base for this. There are few." She said motioning to a table with ingredients, "Chocolate, Caramel, Butterscotch and Marshmallow... All work well, so chose the one that is more appealing to you, and put it to fill halfway in your cauldron."
Sarah smiled and took the vial, "thank you so much" she said.
Then she listned to what the professor was saying. This was going to be interesting.
"scourigify" she casted, cleaning her cauldron. Then she went over to the table of ingredients and selected chocolate. She went back to her cauldron and filled it half way with the brown things
"Prefect McCarthy..." she said and gave him a nod. She wouldn't be able to tell him that this class was his doing, not with all the infected in the room. Well his, the DADA professor and that wacko astronomer.
"All right class... today we are going to make a special kind of potion. All you who have been enjoying this ice cream will love adding this syrupy potion on top of it. It will enhance the taste, and..." She thought a moment and then added, "and make it last a long time."
So it was a bit of fibbing... but she wanted the students to eat it.
"Let's start with a base for this. There are few." She said motioning to a table with ingredients, "Chocolate, Caramel, Butterscotch and Marshmallow... All work well, so chose the one that is more appealing to you, and put it to fill halfway in your cauldron."
Ethan took a few calming breaths as he pulled out his cauldron and supplies, setting them on his workstation. One class.. he could do this.. and he would help Minerva through it as well. He glanced over to her, giving her a tiny, reassuring smile when his green eyes snapped to the front.
NO. Not more ice cream related lessons.. He stared at Lafay for a moment in shock, forgetting all about not making eye contact. This could not be happening.. they were not seriously making toppings for that dreaded ice cream in lieu of actual potions. Even after that horrid detention, where he flipped out about the ice cream in front of her and Tillstorm, desperate to make them hear him.. he held on to some small shred of hope that he at least planted a seed of doubt in their minds.. even after they tricked him into eating it. Though he later came to a realization that that was a trick as well or else he would have felt the effects himself..
Was this some sort of trick as well?
So many conflicted thoughts tumbled through his mind, all crashing together and making it difficult to think straight, and he closed his eyes for a moment, putting his head in his hands as he tried to clear his head. She displayed no signs of being on the ice cream.. no, he knew that, so that option was off the table. Tricking he wouldn't put past her though.. definitely seemed to be her forte.. but why?
Wait.. did she believe him?
He looked back up at her curiously for a moment as he tried to weigh this thought in his mind. It would make sense though, wouldn't it? If this was some sort of antidote to whatever was in the ice cream, what would work better to ensure that all the ice cream fanatics ate it, then to trick them into making them believe that it was an enhancement for the ice cream that they all loved so much. Still.. he wasn't so sure that he trusted her.. so maybe he was completely off base and his paranoia was getting the better of him. But this was one small scrap of hope that he would hold on to.. it was nearly all that he had left..
Still trying to process his thoughts, he pointed his wand at his cauldron, nonverbally cleaning it, and he glanced up at Minerva just in time to catch the terrified look directed his way. He gave her a small, reassuring smile in return.. though he knew he was trying to reassure himself at the same time. Was he really delusional, believing this "potion" could really be what he had hoped? He wandered towards the front of the room with his cauldron, not looking at anyone, just trying to make sense of things in his head. Chocolate was what he decided on, knowing full well it was someone's favorite, and he filled his cauldron halfway with the sauce before heading back to his seat.

Ice Cream was everywhere. But Nigel was meh to it. He would just follow instructions and not eat it. Last time he had ice cream, it did not sit well with him. But the choices were interesting,
Nigel filled his cauldron halfway with butterscotch.
Now what was next?

Yeah, even Penelope was starting to be weirded out by everyone's obsession with ice cream by now. It was one thing for HER to be obsessed with food, but practically everyone was obsessed with this kind, including professors and even Lafay now? Syrup seemed a weird thing to make in potions class though...
She pondered the weirdness of it all for a moment but then got up to choose her ingredient. Chocolate, definitely, without hesitation. For reasons. Heh. She brought it back to her cauldron, pulled out her wand to cast a quick Scourgify to clean the cauldron, then started filling it up until it was halfway full of chocolate.
There, that was done. Now what?

Ice cream was good. Really good. Nodnod. Jory eyed the ingredients. He knew without a doubt which he would be choosing! Quickly, he collected chocolate. It was the next best thing after ice cream. After using Scourgify on his cauldron, the Puffer filled it halfway with the chocolate.

Anya cleaned her cauldron with a quick "Scourgify."
She then gave Ella a quick hug because ICE CREAM. She... kind of ... tried to hide it as a grab of the caramel topping. Heh. Sorry Professor. She was just too happy. She dumped some of Ella's caramel in her cauldron before returning it and grabbing some chocolate. She then filled her cauldron up with chocolate until it reached about halfway.
That was okay, right? Mixing ingredients. She figured it would be. Worst case scenario was a blown up chocolate/caramel mess and Anya honestly didn't see the downside with that.
She then returned the chocolate to the table and sat with a giant smile plastered on her face. ICECREAM!

Kace was glad the Professor was doing just dandy. He smiled at her and then sat back down in his seat. Then he heard the Professor move on with the lesson and his ears perked up. So this syrup will enhance the taste and make it last a lonnggg time?? COOL! Let him have it!
So he had to choose between Chocolate, Caramel, Butterscotch and Marshmallow. He would chose after he cleaned his cauldron. He said "Scourgify!" and then it was PRESTO, it was clean. Then he decided on....Chocolate! No one can go wrong with the basic. He took the chocolate and filled it halfway into his cauldron.

Hecate watched as most kids went for the chocolate, some went for the others. But for most, chocolate was it. Alright. On to the potion.
She scurgified her cauldron and added the Marshmallow. She set the fire on a low hear. "Keep the heat low, you don't want to burn it. You will need to add one butterbeer," She said "and then six drops of Lethe River Water."

Still amazed that they were doing a syrup of all things, Orr quickly followed the instructions given by Professor Lafay.
She checked that the heat was low and added one butterbeer and painstakingly counted out six drops of Lethe River Water. She knew that getting even one more drop could mean disaster for the potion.

Alexa was hopping behind her cauldron, stopping occasionally to pop another marshmallow in her mouth or help herself to some caramel. This was all so exciting. Just the sight of the sugar left her restless.
Ooooooooooooooo butterbeer too????? Why hadn't she thought of that when she went down to the kitchen to have some sundaes??? She bounced back to the table and picked up two bottles of butterbeer (why not? It seemed legit) and that vial of what she assumed was that river water. River water...she wouldn't think that was very sanitary but then...there were a lot of things they added to potions that won't sanitary.
After getting these she hopped back to her desk, nearly knocking into a few people in all her bouncy excitement.
Suuuugar.
Lex drained the first bottle of butterbeer into the chocolate and patted the second affectionately. She would drink it later. Next, the six drops of Lethe River Water. One, two three, four, fiiiiive and six.
Were they adding anything else with sugar???

Mo grinned broadly as first Alice and then Cat joined him at his workstation. Being able to sit with his girls made Potions 100% more bearable. As did the promise of ice cream. And toppings to make it even MORE delicious?
How was that even a thing?
No, really... how was that a thing? It sounded pretty suspect to him, and Mo decided he would accept any and all ice cream, but he didn't want toppings that made ice cream all unnatural.
Still, Mo mussed Alice's hair and tugged Cat's as he squeezed past to head up to the front in order to grab a base liquid for his potion. Marshmallow was likely to burn at the same heat that the other two would merely cook, and it was way more viscous. So he'd choose that one, for the challenge.
Back at his seat, Mo scourgified his cauldron and added the marshmallow just as Lafay told them to add a butterbeer and... river water? That was extremely unsanitary. "Professor," Mo's hand shot up and he wiggled his fingers at her. "What are the properties of that... water stuff? And is it really safe to eat on ice cream?" HMMM?

FIRE.... Min felt herself shudder. Fire and Lafay were way to close to each other at the moment. She sat there staring at her cauldron, how was she going to do this potion if she couldn't even do the fire. She sent her elbows on her work station and put her head in her hands to take a few deep breaths. This was just not going well. She thought maybe she should just leave, but figured Lafay would humiliate her for leaving class. She was stuck.. very stuck.
Finally taking her head out of her hands she made the flames low. Backing her seat back a bit further she took another deep breath. Next she took the butterbeer and emptied it into the cauldron. Once the butterbeer was in the cauldron Minerva took the Lethe River Water and started the drops. 1...2...3...4...5...6..
There she put six drops in and backed away from the flame. Give Ethan another glance she really wished she had never come in...

Jory carefully adjusted the heat beneath his cauldron to low. Butter beer as an ingredient? Cool! Butter beer was good too. He added the butter beer to the chocolate and then grabbed the vial containing the Lethe River Water, then counted six drops of it as it fell into the cauldron.
Butterbeer? Toby had absolutely zero idea what that was but it sounded GOOD. He looked at the bottle kind of sadly. He didn't WANT to add it to the potion, he wanted to DRINK it.
There was a moment of mini-sulking, but then Tobias decided that he would make a mental note of the name of the drink and try it another time. With that decided, the cheerful Hufflepuff set the heat on underneath his cauldron, making sure it was low, and glancing at other students around him to make sure his flame was similar to theirs. Then he drained a full bottle into the cauldron.
As he was about to add the river water, Tobias suddenly stalled. He'd heard what that Ravenclaw chaser dude (Toby totally remembered him) had said, and it made him bite his lip. That was a good question, because river water could be icky, but then Tobias remembered all the other kinds of things that were in potions and which were usually ingested in them. AND this professor wouldn't do ANYTHING to hurt them, obviously. That's what the buzzers thought at the seminar anyway.
So after that moment's hesitation, Tobias added 6 drops of the river water to his cauldron.
But it did pose one point that piqued his curiosity, and Toby raised his hand. "Why the Lethe River? Is there something special about it?" he asked the professor. "I never heard of Lethe before. Is it in Scotland?"

So the baby girl, Hecate's daughter was fine. Anna grinned, she loved kids! Before filling her cauldron halfway with ice cream flavoured caramel, Annabeth pointed her wand and cleaned the inner of the cauldron. "Scourgify!" She was so good with that spell! She grinned and went on. The teacher was giving them another orientations.

The girl looked around. Where they have butterbeers? She couldn't find it. Lethe River Water she had in her kit of most popular ingredients to Potions, which she had ordered from the Diagon Alley. Then she noticed from where the others students were taking the butterbeer and grabbed one bottle. With the ingredients near to her and ready for use, she cast the spell "Incendio!" and adjusted the heat to low. Then she added the butterbeer to the caramel, and after putting the empty bottle aside, she took the vial with the Lethe River Water and counted exactly 6 drops into the cauldron. Then she looked at the professor, waiting for more orientations. The potion had a delicious smell.

Flavor enhancer? Was that an insult to the ice cream? Because as far as Alice was concerned, it was already perfect and didn't need enhancing. Was Lafay up to something? She glanced at the professor a little skeptically, but she had heard the part about possibly getting ice cream later, so the fifth year went along with it. Mo got a grin and a hair muss back before she grabbed the butterscotch and filled her cauldron half way, think about how it'd taste on the ice cream.
.. mm, ice cream.
Why did they need to add things to it, again? Just butterscotch was fine, too, Alice wasn't one for fancy. Heat low, she added a butterbeer as instructed, and then six drops of the Lethe river water. .. Lethe? "Professor, I thought Lethe river water induced memory loss. Is eating this syrup going to make us forget things?" Hm, Lafay? Hmmmm?

.... Lethe River water? West blinked at that. As in... the river of unmindfulness? West knew his mythology. It set him to wondering about the other rivers of Hades, if it was actually legitimate, if there were rivers of hate, sorrow, lamentation, and fire, to go with it and if you could use that kind of river water in things too. Or if maybe it was a metaphorical name. He checked the heat and made sure it was low and then emptied a bottle of butterbeer in there. Well, that just enhanced the butterscotchy flavour didn't it? As for the river water....
Hearing questions from other kids, West just kept quiet. He measured the six drops of Lethe river water in and stoppered the vial. Didn't sniff it or anything.
.... didn't want to forget things.

Lex was helping herself to another marshmallow when she heard THAT. Wait...what??? Nooooo!!
Her hand shot up immediately. "Professor, I already have a shoddy memory when it comes to most things. I don't want something that might make me forget even what the ice-cream tastes like, that would be counter-productive." There was panic etched into her once eager face.
Deliberately forgetting??? What was the point in that???
"Can I start over?? I still have caramel and butterscotch here at the table plus an extra bottle of butterbeer." Seee? All good. She could just...uh...forget the lethe river water, it couldn't have been all that important in the first place. Most syrups she knew were good so long as they had sugar.
And now she was giving her cauldron odd looks. She didn't WANT to go forgetting things.

Dylan was in automatic-mode as he went about performing the next steps. Set fire on low heat...Done. He quickly moved to procure a butterbeer and some of the river water...Both things he didn't keep in his personal supply. Adding in the whole beverage, he waited just a moment before putting the River water in...Six drops....Done.
...And he had stuff to say...
"Wow, aren't you all paranoid..." While it was an accusation, his tone was neither malicious or ugly. Nope, instead it was rather bored. Booooored. Booooooored with anything related to ice cream. But...you know...Ahem. Professor Lafay was a smart woman...and this all seemed...right in the vein of things.

Butterbeer? Blegh! Why were they adding that? It was a good question, but one that Sky dare not ask. Because, you know, she had figured out what this potion was for and she didn't want to risk giving it away. Since all of her classmates (minus her teammates) were starting to drive her up a tree with all this ice cream love. So, she just silently put the cauldron on low heat and added the bottle of Butterbeer and was about to add the river water when Alexa started panicking. Something about the water and forgetting. Hmm. She eyed West for a moment to see if he was also being hesitant. Indeed, he was. Um, okay. Deciding to just be careful with, since she wasn't going to be using the stuff anyway (team diet), she measured out six drops of the river water into her cauldron and quickly closed the vial.

And now it was time for poooootiooooonnnns. Potions was fun. You got to mix things and stir things and hopefully not smell gross things but usually you did really but STILL. Colors and consistencies and all that were fun. And even though Lafay had burnt Minerva's hair off...she...well, she just couldn't think about that right now. She was doing her best not to anyway. It still....Nope. No. Not thinking about it.
Especially because, Lafay say whaaaaat?? There's seriously a special syrup potion to go on top of ice cream!?! Get outta town!!! BEST CLASSES EVER LATELY!!!! She was seriously on board with the direction Hogwarts was taking in its curriculum lately. Top marks, Hogwarts, top marks indeed.
She was really normally a chocolate person but the idea of marshmallow syrup just blew her mind. Why hadn't she thought of that before?! She cleaned her work area, cauldron, vials, spoon, and gloves - just in case. She wanted to be super clean and speedy and make this syrup as quickly as possible to she could EAT it as quickly as possible, obviously. She filled her cauldron with the marshmallow substance with a glub, glub, glub sound echoing all the while in her cauldron. Now what?! she wondered anxiously.

Ohhhhhhhhkayyyyyy! Low heat it was! Bada-bing! Bada-boom! Bam, wham, alacazam! Low heat activated! She rubbed her eager hands together before grabbing a cold butterbeer, opening the cap, and slowly pouring the delightful drink into her marshmallow cauldron. That would certainly taste HEAVENLY. She was sure of it.
Now the Lethe River Water was odd...but Lafay was a pro, so she didn't really question it too much. She dipped her syringe into a vial of the water and dropped six little drops into the brew. Drop, drop, drop...drop...drop, drop. Shakey shake shake the syringe for the last one...and clean. And stow away. And wait. And stare. And bounce in seat. And what's next now!?
