Hecate had the vial of ice cream in her hands and she was twisting it between her fingers.
She opened it, smelled it and then corked it again...
She was waiting for the kids to file in... They needed to start this potion soon... very soon.
ooc: This class will be faster than the usual classes. It will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!
Sarah was not eager for potions, as usual. It was such a stressful subject and all. But wait, there was something to ask the potions mistress.
Sarah walked in and nearly stopped in her tracks. Lafay was holding ice cream! Or was she? It was quite unexpected, as LLafay seemed too cold hearted for ice cream. She put on a smile, which was heartier then usual as she was quite tickled by Lafay and her ice cream. "Hi Professor" she beamed, "um... is there a potion one could take for fatigue?" she asked. There must be one, Sarah had not really been into potions extra reading lately as her reading time was spent napping. She yawned, gulpng down air and then sat down. Had it been another teacher, Sarah would have put her head down until class had started, yet Lafay was a different story.
Sophie walked into the dungeons and through the classroom's door with an indifferent expression. To be honest, she was almost unhappy that day, but meh. Maybe she would go off to practise some Charms later to see if that put her in a beter mood or something.
Le sigh.
"Hi, professor." She politely greeted the older witch while taking a random seat. Was that ice cream that the professor was holding in the vial? How strange. But nah, unlike some of her friends, that fact didn't make Sophie happy or excited or anything.
The fifth year shrugged and waited with an almost bored look on her face for the class to start.

Ice cream before class, and Marigold was feeling pretty good.
"Hi Professor!" she said, walking past the professor and her vial of-WAS THAT ICE CREAM! She was so happy she nearly walked past Kace. "Oh! Hi Kace. May I sit here?"
Marigold wanted more ice cream already.
As Kace sat down at his desk, he finally relaxed and doodled in his notebook. When he was almost finished with his tiny doodle, he noticed a familiar voice. He looked up and saw Marigold! He smiled when he saw her.
"Oh hey Marigold, oh of course you can sit here." he smiled and motioned her to sit next to him.
Then he turned to her, "I wonder what we will learn about today!" he said eagerly.
Potions... right. Derry was... kind of okay at potions she'd figured... but it was just... a lot of concentration. And Derry was not very good at concentration. But she had to do well in this and stuff if she wanted to be a healer. And she might. She hadn't decided yet.
She walked quietly into the potions room and took a seat somewhere in the middle of the room, it was better here - not too close to the front, and not obviously lurking at the back. And Derry liked to remain anonymous when she didn't really know what she was doing. "Hello Professor." she said, before taking out her parchment and quill, ready to scribble down some illegible notes that she'd probably have to rewrite from memory because writing neatly and quickly was not one of her strong points.

Potions. The last lesson for this term. Was Kat going to miss it? No. That was Lafay, for crying out loud. She wasn't scared of her, but it seemed like a job for her especially as a Slytherin. The prefect entered the classroom. "Hello Professor Lafay," she greeted her Head of House before taking a seat.
Also... what was that liquid inside the vial? Hmm.

Last Potions class for the term. Beezus was.....excited. She couldn't quite point out a finger as to why, she just was. Maybe because despite all the changes that were occurring around her, she figured if there was one person who wasn't going to change, it was Professor Lafay with her not-so-student-friendly approaches.
And so, tucking a few loose strands of her hair behind her ear, the brunette stepped inside the classroom, happy to see the woman. "Good day, Professor." Oooh. Shifty little vial.........or something. With a nod, she proceeded to her seat and waited.

She'd had some ice cream before class and she was feeling very energetic and happy and positively excited for class! BEAM!
"Hello, Professor Lafay!" The blonde greeted extremely cheerfully, giving her a polite nod. She then wandered over towards the middle of the room and took out her notes and a quill.
"Hello Miss Bishop..." This girl seemed calm.

When he entered he immediately spotted Alexa by the Professor's side asking about ice cream. Without wasting a moment, the Prefect himself walked up to them after giving the other studends a nod and BEAMED when he saw the vial. "Hello Professor Lafay, is that really ice cream? I heard her and ..is it? IS IT?!" he bounced excitedly on his feet and GASPED out loud when he heard the Gryffindor about learning how to make ice cream this lesson.
"EEEEK! We're making ice cream!?" he repeated in an excited tone , completely missing the part that the Professor had not said anything and just went with what Alexa was saying. Cause as of this moment, what she said was law. BAM!
He turned around and waddled over to sit at his usual seat at the front of the class room. ICE CREAM YO!
... She was unsure with him too... he was usually a crazy loon... "Yes Prefect Kartharos..." She said.

However after seeing what the Professor was holding, she stopped on her tracks, are those ice creams? Eh? It somehow made the Professor a little likable through Erin's eyes. Truthfully, ice cream had been a vital food this term. And if they're really making them, she'd be more than happy to listen and to jot down notes because she's so much interested with it recently.
"Good day Professor Lafay," she greeted with a smile eyeing what is on her hand.
"Good Day Miss Heyman." She greeted the girl.

shuffle..shuffle
Okay it was time to get in the room. One more deep breath and she hurried not the room. No eye contact.. none.. and NO HUGS!!! As she entered she looked up and saw something in the professors hand. She froze as she thought she knew what is was. No.. it was not her wonderful ice cream that she had everyday for so many days in melted form again. She felt tears trying to fight out already, but pushed them back. No she was seeing things.. It wasn't ice cream. She wouldn't torture in class, would she?
Stopping and turning towards Lafay, but keeping her eyes low, "H...hello Professor." shaky her voice was horribly shaky. She rocked onto her heels a few times from hyper nerves as she screamed at her legs to move away from Fire starting, hair burning, crazy creepy potions lady. Finally turning and forgetting to breath Min gasped for air and looked at her usual front seat work place. She had always sat there since her first term, but there was no way in hell she was sitting that close to the professor today. Almost running but not to a back seat she sat down and gripped the table trying to calm her nerves. Ethan was there.. Ethan was there.. Ethan was right next to her.. She would be fine, he would be there. She repeated these words over and over to try and calm her self down.
"Wheatborn." She said knowing full well the girl was under the influence of the ice cream...

Then he eyed the vial. "Whatcha got there, Professor?" Toby asked curiously, raising his hand as he spoke, just in case.

But Minerva felt the need to attend class today and he would stand beside her, knowing that she wanted to be here even less than he did.
He walked with her silently through the dungeons, knowing what was going through both their minds and not feeling the need to voice their thoughts. Hearing her small voice next to him before the entered the classroom, he stopped then turned to her. So many conflicted thoughts ran through his mind. He knew that there was something wrong with it.. but he also knew the horrors they had experienced and how comforting it was to her.. and that she was trying so hard for him. "Just a little, okay?" he managed a weak smile before turning towards the door again.
Taking a deep breath, he followed in behind her, not making eye contact with anyone else in the room. The Prefect paused briefly at Lafay's desk. There was no way he was going to be disrespectful, not wanting to think about what would happen if he were, so he quickly made eye contact and said, "Hello Professor." He couldn't help but to glance at what was in her hands.. was it melted ice cream?! He pushed the horrifying thoughts from his mind the best he could and quickly turned away, briskly walking towards his usual workstation.. oh. Where was Minerva? Ethan took a quick, summary sweep of the room, finding her in the back and he headed her way, sliding into the seat next to her.
"Prefect McCarthy..." she said and gave him a nod. She wouldn't be able to tell him that this class was his doing, not with all the infected in the room. Well his, the DADA professor and that wacko astronomer.

More ice cream? Alright, Sophie wasn't the kind to feel suspicious about things, but this whole ice cream business and professors acting weird was starting to bother her some. She wouldn't argue, though, and would follow instructions.
The fifth year slowly got up from her seat and went to take a random 'base' for the 'Potion', frowning slightly. The girl had seen sweets all over the place recently and it was starting to make her sick. So... which one of those things were less sickning?
...None. They were all way too sweet in Sophie's opinion. Eek.
So the Hufflepuff grabbed the chocolate thing and went back to her seat, filling up the cauldron with it halfway through.
Oh, bleurgh.

Anyyyyyyya-face! Ella BEAMED at the brunette and gave her an excited wave as the girl joined her. It was nice, being on good terms with Anya. Ella approved.
She also approved of the fact that they were making syrup for ice cream. ICE CREAM! BEAM! The blonde's green eyes widened slightly and she smiled wide, looking from Professor Lafay to Anya. Did Anya HEAR that? This was a BRILLIANT last lesson! GRIN!
AJHDJKHLJKHLKLHSSJHLKJS!
HOW was she meant to pick only one topping? The blonde furrowed her brow and regarded each option critically, knowing that normally should would have included ALL the things in a typical Ella!sundae. It also depended a lot on what flavor ice cream she was having but eh, she go with....caramel this time. YUM!
She quickly cleaned her cauldron with her wand before picking up the caramel topping and doing as Professor Lafay said, filling her cauldron halfway.

.... more stuff about ice cream? West frowned a little. Syrup....?
He glanced around his classmates and then at the professor as it dawned on him. A flavour enhancer? No way. This was an antidote for all the crazy wasn't it? He turned a little and looked over at Dylan briefly. They'd had words a bit about crazy classmates and all the ice cream everywhere. West wasn't eating any of it though, because Quidditch reasons.
.... maybe he should thank his captain for that?
West didn't speak up about the fact that he hadn't eaten any of the ice cream this term, or say his thoughts about it being an antidote out loud, because then what if the crazy people caught on and refused to use the syrup or something? West trusted Lafay completely. There was no way his head of house would set them wrong, so he just stayed silent and went ahead and followed instructions.
Butterscotch for him. He got it and filled his cauldron halfway, then watched the professor closely, waiting for further enlightenment.

"Let's start with a base for this. There are few." She said motioning to a table with ingredients, "Chocolate, Caramel, Butterscotch and Marshmallow... All work well, so chose the one that is more appealing to you, and put it to fill halfway in your cauldron."
Hah. Prefect Hudson. It sounded totally wrong at first, honestly. Weird and stuff. Even if this was the last Potions lesson for the term, Kat hadn't really gotten used to being called 'prefect'. This badge, really.
...... And REALLY? Almost all of the classes involved ice cream. What was happening? They were missing something out. Even Kat was sort of hesitant about taking the ice cream.... and eating it. Like... no. Dylan wouldn't allow the team to eat ANYTHING that was fat. They had that... strict diet thing. T'was probably a Captain thing because well, can you see the Slytherin team now? Yes. Melting. Gah. #SlytherinQuidditchTeamAppreciation
The Slytherin stared at the the bases they can chose from. Butterscotch.... uhm. Not really her type at the moment. Chocolate? Not like a dementor would come bursting in the classroom. Caramel? .... Ew. Sticky. Kat eyed the Marshmallow base for a while. Oh well... better that one. She took her wand out first and cast the Scouring Charm on her cauldron. Clean and stuff now. That was the first rule in Potion making and one of the 5 C's, as she could remember. It was important. After the charm, Kat poured the marshmallow base thing and filled her cauldron halfway.
So uhm. There.

He eyes lit up at the sight of MARSHMALLOWS!! Asher loved marshmallows more than any person ever should. This was going to be an amazing lesson.
Filled with excitement, Asher bounded towards the table and, as told, filled his cauldron halfway with the most scrumptious looking marshmallows. "Marshmallows, marshmallows, I love marshmallows" the newly turned twelve year old sang as he made his way back to his station.
Resisting the urge to dig into his pile, thus leaving his cauldron less than adequate in the marshmallow area, Asher decided to pull out some parchment and his quill to start his notes on the class.
...more and more and MORE ice-cream related things.
Forrest just blinked at the woman to see whether she was kidding with them, but she looked serious. He just couldn't believe it! A taste enhancer--merlin! He wasn't going to do--oh, who was he kidding. Who was he to deny a professor, let alone this specific woman. He remembered to make a face though, and not because he was cleaning his cauldron with tap-water there, but because this was about ice-cream as well. He hadn't eaten it, and upon seeing this craze, he wasn't going to.
So. Muggle ways. With soap and tap water and towels to dry it, then he got up and got the chocolate one.

Why were they making syrup in potions class again? Enhance the taste? Students were already addicted to ice-cream, so why enhance the taste and increase the addiction. Or was there a bigger picture Cassia failed to see. Anyway, she didn't really mind making syrup.
The fourth-year considered the available ingredients, she hesitated between chocolate or caramel. Chocolate won eventually. Before adding it to her cauldron, she peered inside it. Was it clean? Since there was no house-elves the cauldrons surely weren't cleaning themselves. Unless Professor Lafay wa--- pffffffffffft. Yeah, right. Just to be sure, Cassia reached for her wand and pointed it at the cauldron. "Scourgify," She uttered. There! Now she'd add the chocolate.
Once she added the chocolate, the blond dipped one finger and licked it. She liked chocolate, you know. Won't hurt to taste it.

Fidgeting in her seat and not able to sit still Minerva would not look up. She wasn't going to look up. NO way was anything going to make her look towards Lafay. She might be thrown back into another horrid detention if she made eye contact with the woman. Nope not going to look up at all..
Wait what... O.o
Blue eyes snapped to the front of the room. Did she just say what Minerva thought she said. A special potion for the ice cream. She gripped the work station and wanted to scream at everyone not to listen.. It was a trick.. A TRICK.... The potion probably turned the ice cream into live bugs or something. NO WAY was she drinking that potion. It was hard enough to take the hair potion enough to grow her hair a bit, she was still afraid that potion was a slow poison from the lady.
Grasping at her hair she threw it back in a pony tail maybe it was safer on the back of her head today.. Now Lafay was talking about flavors.. FLAVORS.. she didn't trust any of this and sent a terrified suspicious look towards Ethan. She knew Mo was in front of her for support and Ethan, but if Lafay was tricking all of them.. NO ONE WAS SAFE..She was going to have to do this though.. She had to do the lesson.. Why did she even come today.. Pulling out her wand she pointed to her cauldron and non verbally cleaned it.
Standing and walking with her head down not to look at Lafay she picked the chocolate.. If she was going to be tricked guess it should be with her favorite flavor at least. Going back to her cauldron she filled it half way.

'Flavor enhancer'. Riiiiggghhht. Sky just smirked to herself, mentally patting herself on the back for figuring the lesson out. Not that she needed any of the cure (thank you, Dylan), but it would be nice to have some sense of normality return to the castle. Plus, she had a sneaking suspicion that all the hyperness caused by the frozen treat is what had attracted the dementors to the grounds anyway. So, yeah, it would be nice to not have to about that happening again. She walked up to the front and grabbed a bottle of chocolate syrup and sat back down. Then she cast a good cleaning charm at her cauldron before filling it halfway with the syrup.

Dylan was looking at his Head of House with wide, suspicious eyes. Not Professor Lafay, too...All the professors were acting INSANE...and OMGLKJALKFJLKDSJFKL ICE CREAM...but he'd desperately hoped and counted on Lafay herself to be made of stronger stuff. She was a Slytherin after all.
Although...her expression seemed all wrong to be one of them. She didn't have that dopey, excitable look...Merlin, now that Dylan thought about it, it was so creepy and "The Faculty"-like. Almost like a cult...
While most of his peers in the room seemed to be salivating at the idea of an ice cream topping...he noted that those on his team weren't. Good. He'd done his job, then. And he'd caught that look from West...
Hmm. What?
Moving towards the front of the room, he selected the butterscotch...and then walked slowly back to his seat. While not with ice cream, he liked it on other things. So, hopefully that counted as a similar thing.
Then the Slytherin went about pulling his cauldron, scourgifying it, setting out his utensils...All that great stuff...And then actually putting the butterscotch in his cauldron....Done.
What was next?

They...they...could go for ice-cream later???
"Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!" The bouncing that had died only a minute ago was now back. "Tons of ice-cream, right? Like whole bowls of it in chocolate, chocolate frudge, chocolate mint, vanilla's good too, raspberry, neopolitan, pistachio~" They could have them aaaaaaalllllll.
OKAY. They needed to hurry up and make this syrup--eep! It would go nicely with the chocolate and rapsberry syrups down in the kitchen!! She could have all three on a mountain of ice-cream and be sooo happy for the rest of her Hogwarts life.

WAIT!!!
The base was any of thoooooooooooose???? "This is the best class eveeeer!!!!" She hurried over to the table and got as much chocolate as she needed then she swiped some marshmallows...and the caramel....you know butterscotch was good too...She took all the SUGAR back to her desk.
The chocolate, she filled the cauldron half way with. The others were just for the sake of munching and having sugar. Choooocolate syrup for chooooocolate ice-cream. What more could she ask for?? Oh yeah, a spoon but she supposed that would come later.

Meep. Meep!
So this was why she was feeling all too excited for this lesson. It was because they were brewing stuff that had something to do with her most favorite thing to eat in the whole wide world!
Dun, dun, dun....ICE CREAM!
Her simple and classical Beezus Castell smile turned into a grin and later on, she was already beaming at their Potions Mistress, eyes gleaming in anticipation and excitement.
Indeed, she was going to enjoy this lesson...she was sure of that. Syrup on top of her ice cream? Could they have sprinkles too, for full package? She'd ask Professor Lafay later about that. For now, she was going to follow the instructions very carefully so she can finish easily and quickly and have more ice creaaaaam! This included cleaning her cauldron first though and gathering the equipments. And then, for the base! Chocolate? ...nuh-uh. Caramel? Hmmm....she'd been having that one for a week now. So maybe she'd just go with Butterscotch. Yep....that sounded good.....but ice cream sounded better........and ice cream with syrup sounded even best.

Professor say what?
They were going to make syrup for their ice cream? REALLY? ICE CREAM? SYRUP? HOW AWESOME WAS THIS?
Alec sat up straighter, a BIG WIDE GRIN spreading across his face. He was totally paying attention. There was no way he was going to mess this up, nope! It could be useful for the big bowl of ice cream he was sure he was going to have after the lesson was over. It was like, his new rule. Nodnod.
Also... how was he meant to choose between four really awesome bases? Did they know what other ingredients they were going to add in afterwards? Because... he was pretty sure caramel wouldn't go with something like raspberry. Unless... the sixteen year old tapped his chin thoughtfully. No, ice cream went with nearly everything. Nearly.
But first... the five C's, yeah? He cleaned up the cauldron with his wand before turning his attention back towards the from to make the most important decision so far. After spending a couple of minutes mentally eliminating each option -- eeny meeny miny moe was really useful -- Alec headed up towards the front and grabbed the caramel base, giving Lafay a grin as he went. He headed back towards his seat and poured the base in until it was halfway full. There.
... "Hello Master Tempus," She said and her eyes narrowed as she pocketed the vial. She wanted to say 'Nunya', as in Nunya Business, but instead she smiled and said "A sample of delicious ice cream..."
She just wasn't sure who had the ice cream and who hadn't...

Ice cream? "Sweet!"
... Was that a pun, Tobias?
He paid close attention to the professor as she spoke, vaguely musing on the fact that this last part of the year definitely made up for the start of it, with the icky food, and it also ALMOST made up for the turnstiles.
Anyway, yes, a base. Toby knew EXACTLY what he was going for. Marshmallow. It was the best. He went to the front, cheerfully humming as he grabbed the marshmallow base. Tobias was still not very good at the scourgify thing, but he'd made sure to properly treat and clean his cauldron before class in a way that didn't need magic. It was always best to do these things before class if you weren't too good with the spells.
Once his cauldron was half full with the marshmallow base, Toby awaited further instructions and may or may not have dipped his little finger in the base and ate a teeny tiny bit.

Again ice-cream? This wasn’t funny anymore! Why was EVERYBODY obsessed with ice-cream? She folded her arms and looked annoyed at the professor. She started to HATE ice-cream! It was stupid and she didn’t liked it!
But, even now that she didn’t liked it, she wanted to attend this lesson and to win some house points if she could, so she grabbed the Caramel flavor, not that she liked it very much, but it was the best thing she saw on the table and added it to her cauldron.

Cool, a potion to enhance tastes. Now this was a perfect reason to love the subject for Wade. He thought for a moment between the flavours, Couldn't we have them all? Nope. Getting up, he decided on the chocolate one before returning to his seating.
Now they had to fill the cauldron halfway. First thing though, was to clean the cauldron. Aiming his wand at the cauldron, he wordlessly casted "Scourgify" on it. Seeing the familar bubbles and suds clean it reminded him of the whole term of cleaning they had to do... Now to fill the cauldron.
Wade carefully poured in the chocolate, watching the smooth and silky liquid with his tongue sticking out to the side. He wanted a taste of it already, the sweet and chocolate goodiness.. Oh, it's already halfway filled now. He stopped pouring and waited for the next step.
Renesmee was really not keen for a change. The thought of eating ice cream once more kinda sickened her, but what could she do. Class was class and so she'd go along if she had to.
So first ingredients? She looked over to the table and almost immediately chose without even having to think. Chocolate. For sure. And nothing else.
Getting up from her seat the Hufflepuff grabbed enough chocolate, bit by bit having to have a few return trips but eventually stood at her desk. First she performed the five Cs of potions, because that should have been habit by now and eventually when her cauldron seemed clean and ready she began filling it away with chocolate.
Did she mention how much she loved chocolate? Cause she DID!
Orr's eyes went wide as she heard Professor Lafay mention making a syrupy potion to put on ice cream. Really? She couldn't quite believe that she said that but Orr wasn't going to ask about it. If they got to do some ice cream sauce topping she was all for it.
So she went and chose chocolate because it was her favorite flavor before filling her cauldron to the half-way point as instructed.
