Hecate sat on the corner of her desk with her legs crossed. This was insane... but... whatever.
She would do it...
The door to the classroom was unlocked... kids just needed to begin filing in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY!! Actually, yesterday was a good day too and tomorrow would probably be a good day. Everyday was a good day, OKAY?? Lex was hopping down the corridor toward the potions classroom with just the smallest really it wasn't that small hint of a smile playing on her face and half eaten chocolate frog in her hand. She could get it done before she got there, just like the others.
La de dah de dah
Her hopping went straight to skipping as she got closer and persisted even after she entered the Potions Classroom.
Oo! Lookit! The Professor! Alexa grinned widely at the woman. "Hello Professor!" And you know what? There was more grinning too. "Had a pleasant summer I hope!" Then she skipped over to a good work desk. It was important for learning.
Giggle.

Lafay looked extra double super cranky today, and Mo gave her a wide berth and a cautious smile as he entered the classroom. That was definitely one of the professors to pay close attention to - and to never ever trust her if he could help it. Not that she'd chop him up as potions ingredients... but she might.
Especially if she was broke and stuff, like the rest of the school.
"Good day, Professor Lafay," he tried that smile again before choosing a seat in the middle of the classroom.
Ethan slowed his gait as he approached the potions classroom, his green eyes first landing on Lafay as he entered. And she was sitting on top of her desk. That was...................... interesting. Just unexpected, really.. not the typical decorum that he would expect her to keep. But he he didn't give it another thought.
"Good day, Professor," he greeted her with a nod as he walked past. Then he turned in search of a seat.. but not just any seat.. his favorite, usual seat from the last two terms. And there it was, unoccupied. Ethan walked over and set his things down on the table, before lowering himself on the seat.

Potions... As Kaiden entered, he gazed around the room looking for someone to sit next to. Oh, look, there was Mo. He didn't know him too well, and honestly he wasn't that big of a fan. You know, because of reasons. But... sure. Making his way to his seat, he grinned at the professor. "Good Day Ma'am."
Reaching his seat, he dropped his bag and sat down. "Hey... Mind if I sit here?"

Potions time.
Long as nothing exploded, Penelope was okay with this class. She wasn't particularly talented at potion-making, but she felt like she did decently enough, so she didn't mind it as much as some other classes.
"Hi, Professor Lafay," she greeted the woman at the desk before finding a seat towards the back of the room.

Eliza was feeling pretty good about Potions this term. She'd managed to not injure anyone or make anything explode in her past two years at Hogwarts, so she hoped that could only mean good things. Her lip was still a little swollen from Herbology, but she didn't really mind, which was odd. It wasn't like there was much she could do about it anyway, but when she thought about it - she was a little concerned at how well, unconcerned she really was. Shrugging the thought, she got close enough for Lafay to hear her and said politely, "Good day Professor Lafay." She wanted to ask if they would have to harvest things in this lesson too like they had in with Bentley, but she knew better than to rattle on to this woman. Gosh I seriously hope we're not extracting bat hearts or something to sell at the apothecary. She turned to find a seat and grimaced at the idea.
Seeing an empty spot, she set up camp there and wondered if anyone might choose to sit next to her. That was always something that piqued her interest, and sometimes her self-doubt. But not today. Not yet anyway.

Alice had her thinking cap on for this class.
Mostly because since Selina had graduated, she'd made it a goal to see their house not have a student who blew up a cauldron or royally screwed up a potion for just one term. That was a good thing to hope for, right? And that meant she couldn't blow things up either- which she wouldn't, because she was TACTFUL and this wasn't even her worst subject- but still, it required a certain level of effort.
"Morning, professor."

Another lesson that Aphrodite looking forward to is Potions. Her father is a potion-maker and he already started introducing her to them since she was so young. Potion is probably not her best and not her weakness too, but let's hope she does not mess up her first Potions lesson. Took a deep breath, she entered the Potions classroom and found Professor Lafay has been there. "Hello, Professor," she said, while looking for a seat that was in the front corner.
With her books and all the other stuff she needed in her school bag she entered the classroom and smiled at the teacher who sat on her desk. “Good day, professor” greeted Sonea, knowing that it was always a good point to show the teacher that she had learned her manners.
The young girl looked next around her and saw that there were already a few students and Sonea nodded also to them and searched for a place where she could put her schoolbag and sit down. Sonea smiled all the time when she was inside the classroom, but the truth was that she was VERY nervous because she had experienced that those lessons had been very difficult during her first year. She wanted to be good at this lesson, especially because the teacher from this class was also the Head of her house! She wanted to show what she was worth.

Potions class was, as always, another class Kat was looking forward to. Maybe the only class she was most knowledgeable in, from all the reading she had and her interest in it as well. She had all her things (for all her classes today) inside her bag with the undetectable extension charm they learnt last term in Charms, when Professor Bellaire was not yet the Transfiguration professor. It had been quite useful since this term, they were required to pay whenever they enter the common room AND the great hall.
Kat entered the classroom, and saw that Professor Lafay was sitting on her desk with her legs crossed. Nothing really interesting inside, like a baby girl from last term. "Hello Professor," the prefect greeted and went to take a seat. So... what're they gonna learn today?

She wasn’t half as scared of potions now as she had been in previous terms, but then, by now Kendall had figured out her survival strategy for the class. All she had to do was follow everything Professor Lafay did exactly, and there wouldn’t be any risk of her exploding her cauldron, being set ablaze, or anything else. Of course, coming off of last summer, and the events that she was still not really remembering aside from the fact she’d ended up with a broken wrist and a temporarily sore leg out of it all, even the Slytherin head of house wasn’t entirely terrifying anymore. Even Professor Lafay having to deal with all the craziness about Hogwarts selling half of their stuff and all of them having to pay to do everything wasn’t as terrifying as the hole in her memory that Patrick was starting to try to explain to her.
Maybe she’d get lucky and they’d be brewing something that could help her find out what memories she was missing. She could always hope, but the expression on the professor’s face as she’d entered the classroom seemed to bode otherwise. Especially when it didn’t look like there was anything set up for them to be brewing anything. “Good morning, Professor Lafay,” she said, sending the woman a hesitant smile before taking her seat at her usual workstation. She wasn’t about to be the one who started things off on the wrong foot, so politeness was key. Along with being prepared, so she applied herself to taking her potions journal and a quill out of her school bag, shifting chocolate aside at the same time and keeping her potions kit safe for the time being. She wouldn’t take that out until they knew it was needed, but notes always happened.

While Michael was usually extremely excited and quite loud in his greetings to the other Professors, he knew that this particular Professor wasn't going to tolerate it.
So instead he entered the room in an orderly fashion with his hands by his sides and upon seeing Lafay in the corner, Michael gave her a broad smile. "Good day Professor Lafay." Oooh that rhymed. Anyway. "You're looking well." Albeit a little peeved.
He could be quite smooth when he wanted to.
Turning on his heel, he made his way to one of the benches and sat beside the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain. He was rather bummed that he had not made it to tryouts.
While so far Kahlan didn't hadn't ever been to a potions class, she was quite excited and nervous about the fact that her head of house was the one that was the teacher... and she definitely wanted to give a good impression... not that she didn't always want that it just seemed a lot more important now that it was her head of house.
"Good day Professor Lafay" she greeted her with a smile as she sat herself down, pulling out the book that she'd bought for potions because scrolls where way to old school along with a quill before sitting herself with interlaced fingers and biting her lip as she waited for class to start.

Walking to the potions clasroom, she still remembered what Professor Lafay said when she asked them to introduce themselves. Potions notes from her former school? Why? Christina still had it, if she was not mistaken. Maybe the Potions mistress wanted to compare or something? Dunno, she didn't have any idea. Potions wasn't her best or least favorite subject either.
She entered the classroom and noticed the Potion mistress was already there, waiting for the students came. Glad that she wasn't late. Well, there's no reason she could be late because the potions classroom wasn't far from the Slytherin common room and she didn't need to climb stairs to reach them. "Good day, Professor." She said to Professor Lafay then she took a seat, waiting until the class started.

Zeke made his way down to the Potions classroom, all the while thinking that it's Gwen's favorite subject. Maybe, because she was looking for potions books back at the library. Or it could also be that she really wasn't good at potions so she's studying to keep up? Ehh, none of his business. At least not anymore.
Once he entered the classroom, following the demands of courtesy he offered Lafay a smile and greeted her a, "Good day." With that short greeting, the Gryffindor found himself a seat and did a heads down. He couldn't sleep last night considering how uncomfortable their dormitory was.
Sarah was wondering what they would be making in potions. She was surprised that Lafay was still there, maybe they did not reduce her salary like the others, as Lafay did not seem to be the kind to be teaching out of the goodness of her heart.
Sarah found potions rather stressful, more stressful then cooking as more thiings could go wrong with a much worse effect. "Hello Professor!" she said, "if you need help harvestin supplies I would be happy to help" Sarah said. Just incase it was the things that houseelves normally did. And she gained a lot of skills last time she harvested the fanged mushrooms.
She then sat down at a workstation.

Reason: forgot to let her sit down
Erm. Fine. She had been meaning to leave a bit earlier this time so that she wouldn’t have to run down the stairs from the seventh floor to the dungeon but ehhh. Somehow, Gwen was running a bit late. Well... not very late. But even though class probably hadn’t started, she would definitely NOT be one of the first people to arrive.
Finally arriving in front of the door to the Potions classroom, the girl made her way in. ‘Hello, Professor Lafay’, she said before heading to her usual seat. And then she just waited for class to start.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jory was looking forward to Potions. It was one of the subjects he enjoyed the most. He hurried along to the classroom, afraid that he was late. He had taken a little longer than usual to get out of bed that morning.
But to the Puffer's relief when he got to the classroom, he found that students were still filing in. "Good day, Professor Lafay,'' Jory greeted the woman perched on her desk. "It's good to see you again.''
Except also not good, because Derry's dad wasn't particularly good at potions so her tutoring in the subject had been... iffy at best. But it was just like cooking, but more delicate and with magic, right?
...
Not that that was going to help, since the only thing Derry could really cook was shortbread and it didn't really require much of the skills potion making probably did...
Anyway, Potions. Definitely have to pay lots of attention here... Derry walked into the classroom, trying her best not to look completely nervous about the whole thing and failing terribly. "Good day, Professor." she said with a little smile, and found herself a seat somewhere in the middle of the room, getting out her parchment and quill (stupid, messy things... biros were way easier) to write notes.

Dylan entered the Potions lab with a pleasant smile in place. He'd finally SLEPT. All was finally right in the world once more...and just in time, too. Potions, potions, potions...and that meant the Slytherin Captain would need his concentration and patience intact.
...because this was Lafay they were talking about...and she was the most strict in all the land.
Making his way to his usual workstation near the back, Dylan nodded casually to his Head of House. "Professor Lafay. It's nice to see you." It was good that the woman didn't look near death anymore. These poor new kids were already getting enough of a culture shock.
Taking a seat, he prepared by getting out his notebook, ink, and quill, turning to a fresh page and titling it...

Casting one last weary glance down the hallway, Carsyn sighed rather loudly in an attempt to relieve some nervous tension, and entered the Potions classroom. With her bag slug over her right shoulder, Carsyn took slow steps as she surveyed the available seats in the room. Realizing she was white-knuckling the strap to her bag, Carsyn opened her hand to flex and extend her fingers a few times, while simultaneously making her way to an empty chair in the middle of the classroom. Being inconspicous was a priority at this point, as the young Ravenclaw was much more interested in seeing, rather than being seen. And learning, rather than being learned about...
Yeah, he was prepared for this class. Every other lesson this year he had walked in cold without knowing a SINGLE thing about his Professor. But see, THIS class was taught by his Head of House and he knew who she was. Look at Stark, being all knowledgable about things. Smirk.
And since he was all brilliant and awesome and stuff, he knew that, well, it would be better off for him if he just went about and gave her a simple greeting. 'Sides it was his Head of House. She WAS nice to look at for sure, easy on the eyes. But no need to get her all annoyed or else he'd be dealing with her ALL the time. Ugh, so just customary greetings.
Nodding his head at her with a slight smirk, he said, "Morning Professor Lafay."
It wasn't a long trek from the common room to the Potions' classroom, so Peyton had taken her time getting ready. After setting her hair up in a ponytail she was ready. And skipping, she made it to her designated classroom.
Sitting down and setting her bag on her lap, she hugged it to her chest like she had in Astronomy. INNER GRIN. Turning her attention to Professor Lafay, she grinned at the woman. The professor needed more smiling to do. She looked pretty when she did. "Good day, Professor Lafay," she greeted, flashing her what seemed like a shy smile. Peyton just didn't want to get yelled or glared at for smiling.
The first thing Mika did whens he entered the Potions classroom was stare at the fact her best friend was basically asking Mo to sit with him. That was different - but hey, she liked the idea of the two getting along possibly. She hoped they got along at least. Her bag slung over her shoulder she looked around the room for a place to sit.
Hey! Look, there was Ascanius, she'd say hi to him...cause he was cool. She was about to walk over to ask if she could sit there when she saw a lone Ravenclaw first year. Watching for a second she realized that girl looked like she wanted to be alone.
She'd attack her with love and friendship later. She just wanted a corruptible young soul to lead to the path of prankville. Because Prankville was amazing and wondrous and filled with laughs - and she rather loved laughing.
So over and took a seat at an empty table near the middle of the classroom. Yep middle was wise - the back was fine...but sometimes it meant you had eyes on you...and the front - the front was just lethal. She looked over to Ascanius and sent a quick smile. Yep she was being friendly today. Pulling out her quill, parchment, and setting up her cauldron and ingredient kits she was ready for this class. So ready. "Hello Professor Lafay! She chirped happily. What she was just happy all the time like normal.

Tying her hair back into a messy bun, Bliss scurried down towards the dungeons. Didn't want to be late, now, did she? She rather liked Potions; it's complexity always interested her greatly. Normally, she'd say a firm no to any sort of hard word - unless it was Ancient Runes - but, honestly, she enjoyed potions more than most lessons. Soooo .. yeah ..
Scurry, scurry, scurry ..
The small fourth year made it down to the classroom in record time. At least, that was the impression she'd gotten. Her eyes quickly swept over the class and she let out a breath and smiled. She wasn't late. "Good morning, Professor," she said enthusiastically, making her way inside and took her seat. Ready to learn, yep, she was.
