The Transfiguration classroom was set up exactly as it usually was the only difference being that Professor Magnus' desk had been moved to the side of the room instead of being by the back wall. In it's place stood a large curtained cubicle with a raised floor, much like a shower. To the side of that is a little table, upon which sits a small bucket filled with shoelaces.
The professor is stood in the middle of the room, smile on her face and rocking back and forth on her heels, ready to great you.

"Never mind!'' the Puff called out. "Its all holey.'' True, it was. He had noticed the holes when he sad transfigured it as they were tiny. It seemed as if there were thousands of holes all around the umbrella. "This one is no good. You can stop, Lyssa!''
Ah well, maybe he'd have better luck with the next one. "Your turn again, Lyssa.''

The one that had a little see through window in the cover. She opened it and stepped into the cubicle.
"Okay I'm ready whenever you are." Alyssa called out as she held the umbrella over her head and began singing.

"Naw,'' Jory said shaking his head so that water flew out of his hair. "It's alright.'' He set his useless umbrella outside of the cubicle. He would have to get rid of that one.
"This one's cool!'' he said indicating to the yellow umbrella. "Nice touch with the "window".'' Another song! Jory wasn't familiar with this one but he enjoyed it all the same. "Here we go!'' he called. "Aguamenti!''
Water poured onto the umbrella. "How is this one?''

Alyssa stood under the umbrella as she continued to hum the song under her breath. She watched the water flow over the window in the cover. She touched the window to make sure that the water she was seeing was on the outside of the umbrella and not inside. She checked the various segments of the umbrella, especially where the spokes met in the middle and was glad to see that she couldn't see any droplets of water leaking through.
She waited for a couple more minutes before she called out to Jory. "Jory, I think that this one is a success. You can stop the water now. Thanks." Alyssa called out to her partner. "It's your turn now."

"That is a particularly bright umbrella you have there. Like maybe you could find it even in the dark, it's so bright." And Mo obviously approved of it. He brandished his own umbrella, just in case she wanted to tell him he was brilliant and talented. Who knew... stranger things happened.
"How about I try my umbrella first, and you can spray it with water, and then we'll switch? That way, if I get you wet, you won't have to be cold for as long." He hopped up and saluted with his umbrella before taking his turn in the little shower cubicle.
Was this really a good idea? REALLY? "I have a feeling I'm going to get wet," he peeked at Alice over his umbrella before opening it.
Bright? Alice looked at it again, wondering if it would glow in the dark. It probably wasn't that effulgent, but it would suffice for this, right? It's main purpose was to keep her from getting soggy, and if she could do that, then she considered the spell a success. "Yours looks better, though," she commented, examining the umbrella Mo was waving in the air. He'd managed to put stars AND clouds on it? Not fair. Not fair at all.
"It's okay, I don't mind being cold." Besides, if he was cold, that was an issue, too. But if he wanted to go first, then he could. Alice hopped up and followed him to the shower cubicle. He wouldn't get wet if the umbrella worked, yeah? And it seemed like it would do just fine.
So, what? Was she just supposed to shoot water at him now? She could do that. "You probably WILL get wet, on account of opening umbrellas indoors is bad luck and the only bad thing that could possibly happen at the moment is getting drenched." That made sense, didn't it? There wasn't any other awful thing that could happen to him that she noticed, either way.
Alice set her luminous umbrella on the ground beside her before pulling out her wand again. "Mmk, ready?" 'Course he was. All she had to do was shoot water at him now. Now, what was that incantation again? "Aguamenti." .. nothing. "Wait, let me try again." She was persistent if anything, yeah? "Aguamenti."
There was that stream of water she'd been waiting for. Now to see if his pretty little umbrella creation would hold up, that was it.

Apparently now people were starting to pair up and test their umbrellas. Kendall glanced at her fail umbrella once again, since she’d had the thought of if it would be possible to recreate it and make it actually useful, but then decided she could ask Professor Magnus about that later. At least she had two umbrellas she could test, and she would just leave the limp one as it was until she could ask. She didn’t want to reverse the spell, after all, because it was still a pretty cool umbrella. It just wasn’t very useful as it was right now. She’d figure out how to make it useful, and maybe she’d keep that one along with the awesome pink one. The color wheel one was nice, but she wasn’t quite as attached to it. It was the pink one and the special secret sky one that she liked, yet only one of them had really turned out right from the beginning. She was just determined enough not to abandon the other though.
It was just getting pushed off until class was over, or she could find the time to ask the professor for help. For now, she had two other umbrellas to deal with, and she gathered them together as she watched the few people who had already paired up and started testing theirs out. Some were successful, others were getting wet, and she found that she didn’t particularly care either way. Water wouldn’t hurt her, after all, not when she still had her wand and could dry herself off rather easily. That wasn’t a transfiguration spell. “Does anyone want to be my partner?,” she said fairly loud, standing up, holding onto the handle of her color wheel umbrella to start off, even though the pink one stayed on her desk close by. She figured both of them would need testing, after all, along with whatever her eventual partner had created, and then she could go back to figuring out why the spell had gone wrong on her first attempt.

Oichi soon heard the professor say something about partnering up. Great, my least favorite activity because its always so hard to get a partner.
Oichi looked around and quickly saw people partnering off left and right. She sighed but then soon caught eye of a girl who did not look like she had a partner. Oichi walked over to her. "Hi, I'm Oichi, wanna partner with me?".

Kat wanted to know WHY there was a lot of 'partnering' going on in classes this term. Sometimes she felt anti-social and that'd be a difficult time to actually find someone to work with. Ugh, now was kind of one of those times were she didn't want to talk. Perhaps that was because she was still annoyed by how fail her umbrellas were? Yeah, that seemed like the reason. Eyeing her cocktail umbrella, she casted the reverse spell on it. "Reverto." She was fine with one umbrella, at LEAST one. The Slytherin tossed the shoelace back to where she got it.

"Anyone wa-" she had started but heard her fake!sister Alexa looking for a partner too. Timing could not be any better. Kat didn't even want to go looking for things. Uhm. "I could be your partner." BEAM. She had chocolate frogs, for your information. Dig it, Lex?

Oh so he did NOT look old? The Slytherin let out a breath of relief upon hearing those words and he got his smile back. "Ah, okay." he was glad that awkward moment got cleared up. Was this how others react whenever he bowed to them? He didn't think the Professors minded his bowing in respect but the other older students? Yeah...they were probably weirded out by it.
Daichi eyed the grey with white striped umbrella that lay on the ground next to his desk and grabbed another shoelace. He grinned to himself as he thought of a duck design umbrella and pointed his wand at the shoelace "Protegamur Aqua!" he shouted and waved his wand in a triangle shape. In his mind, he tried to imagine a yellow/orange umbrella... The shoelace shaped, twisted and formed until an duck umbrella lay on his desk.
The Slytherin jumped in joy when he thought he had done it but once picking up the umbrella he noticed that there were holes in the umbrella and there was no handle. "Mweh" he sighed and placed the umbrella on the other side of his desk so that his right side was the good side, the left the bad.
He wanted to try again but was stopped by Tiffany's voice. He turned his head to the side and blinked at her. "T-tutor you?" he asked in a slight stutter as his cheeks began to blaze a firey red color. Did she really want HIM to tutor her? But...but he was one of the WORST students ! 'well that's not true' he thought. He had gotten an Outstanding in his Transfiguration OWL. He only lacked the confidence...He was still a bit confused why this girl wanted him to tutor her when it dawned him.
It was his Prefect badge wasn't it? Yeah must be it... he didn't think she would ask for his help if he didn't have that thing. Still, seeing the pleading look from Tiffany he simply couldn't say no and cursed himself for being so weak. "I...sure.."
Now he had to tutor Eliza AND Tiffany... maybe he should write a letter to Evan and Kurumi to tell them that their tutoring had rubbed off on him.
Had he just bowed to her?
The lioness blinked as he was literally bowing to her. In fact, she didn't know why but felt like she had to bow back, maybe it was because of the traditional Korean culture that flowed in her blood. Bowing was a way of showing one's respect for the others and it was very common back in Korea. It was usually done during their first encounter. "Nice to meet you too, Diachi,"she beamed and took a small bow. His stutter did not leave unattended and from this, Tiffany knew that he was actually surprised about her offer and at the same time...confused. "I mean...you don't really have to do that if you don't want to,"she replied playfully, sticking her tongue out at him. She didn't mean to force him to tutor her, she was simply asking. However it would be the best if he was really willing to do so and it would not cause him any troubles.
Taking her wand out from her pocket, she tried to make another umbrella for the experiment which would be carried out afterwards. As the professor had just announced that start of it, it only meant one thing: she had to be quick. She stared at the shoelace placed on the table and concentrated as much as she could. She needed a big and beautiful one, without any holes on it. "Protegamur Aqua!" she exclaimed as a pink and lovely one showed up. She was pretty satisfied with it this time. She took it with her and wandered around, trying to look for a partner. "Anyone needs a partner?"she asked in one of her bright tone.

Diachi? Daichi raised an eyebrow at that. "Uhm..my name is Daichi ..not Diachi" Diachi sounded spanish to him. And he was not spanish clearly. He did giggle however when Tiffany bowed as well and he thought about if he should try and tutor her or not.
True, he wasn't the best but he loved to help others. And what someone told Professor Lafay that he refused to help a student? Eeeek he did not want to think about it! What if he was called to her office and set on fire?! "No! I love to help...just poke me whenever you want to practise , we can go to the Transfiguration Practise room if you want?"
He turned his attention to the Professor for a moment when she began to speak and told them to find partners. Then he heard Tiffany next to him calling for one and he shrugged his shoulders. He was already talking to her, why not? "Want to be my partner?" he asked as he bend down to grab his grey umbrella. He had only made two umbrella's so far but he wasn't going to test the duck one. He already knew there were holes in it without standing in that shower thingy.
Just then, and to her relief, Sarah was looking for a partner, which saved Eliza the discomfort of having to search for one. "I'll be your partner!" she answered back. She really didn't mind who her partner was, so long as she didn't get wet. But even then, she was sure someone could help her dry off. Maybe someone could teach me the drying spell. That would be good to know regardless.
Thankfully some one heard her call (other Sarah would not have minded using sonorus again) and Sarah's smiled even more. "Thanks a million! Time is ticking so we better get started.." She said, "Do you want to go first?" she asked. "I don't mind... as long as I get wet..." the last part was said in undertone so the teacher could not hear.
She looked around as she waited for the girl to reply. She really could not wait for the fun to begin, she twirled a red umbrella so it looked like a wheel.. it would be a move of her dance later.

After completing the purple umbrella, Minerva felt more confident and was ready to try again. She heard Professor Magnus and stopped. Partner up and try them out.. Hmm she didn't know if she was ready for that part yet. Turning back to her second shoe lace, Minerva formed it the way she wanted and the lifted her wand.
Doing the wand movement Minerva spoke clearly, "Protegamur Aqua" She watched as the string moved into the handle and then saw the yellow of the umbrella form. Lifting the umbrella she inspected it. Deciding it would probably be as good as it was going to get she turned to see if you could find a partner.

No matter.. he was going to do this now. Or attempt to. Even though Ethan had somehow managed an O in his Transfig OWLs, he knew that he had to practice a spell a bazillion times before he got it right. He didn't think today would be an exception.. even if he was much better in the subject than he was even a year ago. Still.. wouldn't it be nice if he got this one on his first attempt?
Visualizing an umbrella in his mind as he closed his eyes momentarily, Ethan lifted his wand and opened his eyes. Drawing the triangle with his wand pointed at the lace, the boy commanded, "Protegamur Aqua." He watched as it began to curl at one end and elongate at the other, spokes and fabric finally jutting out at the end. Uhh.. well, technically it was an umbrella, though it certainly wouldn't protect him from any rain..
"Reverto."
Minerva spotted her favorite class partner and moved closer to him not wanting to disturb him from his concentration. When she heard him say Reverto she smiled, "How is it coming?" She looked at his shoelace. "We have to have partners to test these, would you want to be mine?"

So...this whole being partner-less business wasn't so fun. Ella casually opened her elephant umbrella and twirled it over her head, putting on her friendliest smile. Pick me, please! After a minute or two of hoping someone would ask her to partner up, the badger decided to take things into her own hands.
Ahem. "Anyone need a partner still?" Cause Ella had an ELEPHANT umbrella and she promised she wouldn't completely soak her partner. Well... hopefully.

"Yep this one is a success. My yellow submarine. Okay it's your turn. Your umbrella looks cool." Alyssa complimented Jory on his work as she climbed out of the cubicle, closed her umbrella and went behind the cubicle with her wand ready. "Ready when you are." she called out to him.

"Thanks!'' Jory said with a grin. He steeped into the cubicle and opened his plastic white umbrella with green around the edges and a brown handle. He just hoped this one would be proper. Well, if it wasn't all he had to do was go transfigure more shoelaces. Yup, that was the worst that could happen.
The boy opened up the umbrella. "Ready, Lyssa!'' he called. Let the "rain" begin! Maybe he would purposely move the umbrella and get himself soaked? Or on second thought, Professor Magnus would disapprove.

Alyssa laughed. Jory seemed to be actually enjoying himself testing out his umbrellas. "Okay ready or not, here it come. AUGUAMENTI!!" Alyssa said as she pointed her wand up and let the water spray from it. She watched as it flowed over the cubicle over and disappeared over the other side.
"Are you okay over there, Jory?" Alyssa asked her twin.

"It's raining, it's pouring!'' Jory said aloud, almost singing. He was very tempted to remove the umbrella from over his head but there was work to be done. He began the testing process. He prodded parts of it with his finger just to make sure it held up. So far so good. No holes so no leaks. "This just might be the lucky one!'' he thought.
"I'm just fine,'' the boy called back to Lyssa. "This one seems to be just fine.'' A few more seconds and he was sure. Yup, this one was perfect. "Okay, you can stop the water now, Lyssa!''

"Finite." Alyssa ended the water flowing spell. "Looks like you definitely have a winner there, Jory." Alyssa smiled at Jory as she came around the cubicle to see whether he had gotten wet. Nope not a single drop.
"I do have one more umbrella to try out. Do you mind? It was supposed to look like a badger but I think it's more like a cat." Alyssa laughed opening up the umbrella to show Jory.
She quickly climbed into the cubicle and stood under it. "I'm ready whenever you are." she told Jory. As she started to sing.

"Yup, I'm glad,'' Jory responded. "I thought maybe I'd have to go transfigure more shoelaces after we were done here.'' Nothing wrong with that but he wanted to get at least one working umbrella during his first attempt.
"Not, of course I don't mind,'' he said looking at the yellow umbrella. "It looks like a rat.'' He winked.
"Okay, here comes the rain, diva!'' Jory called as Alyssa burst out in a song again. "Aguamenti!''

Alyssa could feel the water spraying and falling on her umbrella. She sheltered her body under it and waited to see whether she's see any signs of water leakage. After a few minutes she called out to Jory.
"You can stop now. I think we have another winner here. Weird as it may look but it definitely passed the water test." Alyssa smiled patting the underside side of her umbrella as she waited for Jory to end his spell.

Uhm. "I could be your partner." BEAM. She had chocolate frogs, for your information. Dig it, Lex?
Maybe she should ask the question again. That would seem logical right? This was why she resorted to shouting so often. It usually got the message across loud and cle--
She spun around at the sound of Kat's voice. Was it in answer to her or was she offering to be someone else's partner? Beaming? She was beaming and at her too! This obviously meant she wanted to be her partner and Lex kinda did a little squeal because she would get to work with her pseudo-sister! This was a perfect score right her. She beamed, quickly making her way over to the girl. "Thanks Kat! I already have my umbrella, don't think I'll be making more," because they weren't necessary, "what about you?"
Did she already have her umbrella so they could get started???

Laura looked at the Professor hadn't she heard her or something, it was scary maybe the Umbrella she had made was that big no one could hear her. "Professor how to I make my Umbrella smaller?" Laura really hoped that the Professor would be able to hear her this time. "It's really massive and I can't lift it." Laura sighed, now all she has to do was figure out how to make it smaller and then all she had to do was find a partner, but who.
Hmmm?
Oh, wow. That was big. How had she missed that?
"Uh, well, it can't be made smaller now you've transfigured it, I'm afraid. You really need to concentrate on all aspects when doing the spell, Laura. Here," Isabelle flicked her wand over it and reverted it back to a shoelace. "Try again, and just think of an ordinary sized one, yeah?"

Isabelle laughed as Sarah tried to come to terms with the no parasol idea. Maybe one day before she left school.
But, oooh, another question. The girl was full of them today.
"Beach umbrellas tend to be a non-shiny material as they don't need to keep the rain off," who would be silly enough to go to the beach in the rain? "but you could make a giant version of an normal umbrella I suppose," she smiled. Much like Laura had done. Only they weren't very good for testing in a one-person shower cubicle. No space. And too heavy.
Issy went back to watching as the kids tested their umbrellas. Some of them successful, some of them quite obviously not.... That drying spell was coming in handy for a few of them.
Whenever Alyssa got in the cubicle she started singing, and Issy tapped her foot along to the tunes. If she was needed they knew where to find her, right? "Anyone need help?" She called out to them just in case.

"My first one was really plain, so I made a sec..." Mo started to explain, but he fell off as Alice raised her wand and made faces like she was about to drench him to the skin. And then he would be the cold one. "I don't think I believe in bad luck. I believe in good luck, though... somehow..."
He spun his umbrella a bit before lowering it enough to peek at Alice once again... which was a big mistake, as Mo immediately took a stream of water to the eye. Not his black eye, fortunately, and Mo jerked his umbrella back up in front of his face with a sputter.
Totally worth it, though.
His umbrella held up well enough. No leaks, no turning inside out, and if it couldn't keep water from pouring off the surface and onto his feet, well... that was really his own fault for holding it too close to his body. Mo moved it out and tilted it away, letting the water pour downward and swirl down the drain.
"Okay!" He waved a hand over top his umbrella. "Enough enough enough."

Honestly, Kendall was a bit worried that nobody had heard her when she’d asked if anyone had wanted to be her partner. Of course, not that many other people were pairing off around her at that point, since mostly she was just seeing people already starting to test their umbrellas, but that didn’t make her any less concerned that she’d be on her own. More accurately, she’d probably end up having to ask Professor Magnus for help before class was over. She was pretty sure she wasn’t going to get away with not testing out her creations, after all, but that didn’t mean she wanted to have to resort to asking the professor to be her partner. She would much rather just go and ask her if she could fix her other limp umbrella after the lesson was over with, or even just ask if it was possible without having to completely try the spell over. She’d rather not risk not being able to create that umbrella over again, even if she had two perfectly good other umbrellas to show for her efforts.
Perfectly good umbrellas in her own opinion, though. She still had the matter of testing to make sure there weren’t any invisible holes or anything, and that was why she had ended up standing there waiting to see if anyone would volunteer to be her partner. Katrina had asked Alexa, and she wasn’t sure where Beezus was, so it would have to be someone else. Someone who she’d have to try and find, although as soon as she’d resolved to do that, a Gryffindor girl had shown up in front of her and offered. “Okay,” she said with a smile. “I’m Kendall. Did you want to test one of yours first, or would you rather do the water?,” she added after a second, gesturing slightly with the color wheel umbrella in her hand. She didn’t mind either way.

Eliza smiled and held up her two umbrellas for Sarah to see. "Well," she started in a low voice, "If you want to get wet...you might want to try this floral one I made first. It's pretty but it looks a bit...thin. Might hold up though, who knows?" She held it out to her to take and walked with her over to the cubicle. "You can hop in first if you'd like! I'll get my best water routine ready." She slipped out her wand and stood on a chair so that she could reach over the cubicle. "Ready?" she asked with anticipation. She figured Sarah would want to go first, since she seemed to be looking forward to the testing part.
Once she heard what sounded like Sarah giving her the go-ahead, she let loose her water spell. "Aguamenti!" she sang out, and watched as the water blasted from her wand and fell down in big fat drops and splashes onto the umbrella over Sarah's head. She gave it a good fifteen to twenty seconds - even shook the wand around a little bit to mimic a real rain storm. When she thought Sarah had probably had her fill, she ended the spell. "Finite."
She climbed down from the chair and peeked around the cubicle to see Sarah. "How did it go? She hoped for Sarah's sake that she got what she wanted but it was actually in Eliza's best interest if the umbrella had functioned properly, but if this one didn't - she was pretty sure her big red one would work just fine.
