| | Transfiguration Lesson One
The Transfiguration classroom was set up exactly as it usually was the only difference being that Professor Magnus' desk had been moved to the side of the room instead of being by the back wall. In it's place stood a large curtained cubicle with a raised floor, much like a shower. To the side of that is a little table, upon which sits a small bucket filled with shoelaces.
The professor is stood in the middle of the room, smile on her face and rocking back and forth on her heels, ready to great you. OOC: My internet is coming and going due a fault on our phone line, so my replies might be infrequent. Please have your character enter though, take a seat, chat a little and I'll try and start class on time! |

Alyssa quickly picked up the umbrellas she had transfigured, picked up her backpack before walking up to Professor Magnus. "Thank you for allowing me to help with the drying spell. I need to practice my charms and spells as much as possible. Thank you for another interesting lesson too." Alyssa told her Transfiguration Professor before making her way out of the class.

Fake!sisters though, even if it wasn't real they STILL made awesome things happen.
And of course she only made one. One successful umbrella at least. "MHM! Who cares about 'fake' sisters, we're still cool as real sisters," Kat mused. She'd never had a younger sister so she was getting the feel of it with Lex. In fact, it was GREAT to feel like you had someone. She had Alex though, but he's already fourteen and not so baby anymore.
Hold a sec. Lex wanted to shoot water on her? Kat had exemptions for Lex and always made way for her to learn and enjoy things. She couldn't say no. "Yeah of course, I'll go first then." Nod. Kat went in a cubicle and opened up her umbrella. It should not fail her. Merlin knows how horrible things would get if she gets soaked. She'd have stinky feet, you know. EWWW. Kat hoped Lex wouldn't fail on this. "Alright I'm ready," she grinned at her pseudo-sister to signal her that she can totally start shooting water.
Hurry though, ten minutes left. Lex beamed up at her. She had a point you know. Anything they made would automatically be good. Well, actually she could think of a few other people who could be added to this but she didn't feel like bringing that up. Nah. Not now anyway because this was about them being awesome; which they totally were.
The girl earned herself another nod and a wide smile for everything she said but just as she agreed to go first she heard the Professor telling them to wrap up then pack up. She scowled just slightly. It was all that extra time she wasted making that bloody umbrella that did this. Now only one of them would get soaked.
...
Lex looked over at Kat.
She really wanted to get soaked again but when she thought about it...she already got a chance so it made more sense to let Kat go ahead and take her turn. Yup. She would be all sacrificial for her pseudo!sister because that's the kinds of things that happened.
She waited until Kat was inside and ready then got her wand nicely aimed at an angle that wouldn't make the water go knocking her umbrella away or hitting her unnecessarily...you know, just in case she didn't want to get wet. Heh. Not like that matter. "Aguamenti!" Something she'd learnt through watching in last term's Potions class. Immediately a jet a water shot towards Kat. Lex watched to see just how the umbrella was holding up. "How is it????" Because there were no re-dos; the class was over.

"Sarah, I didn't realize you were such a song bird!" she smiled and chuckled a bit. She wasn't being sarcastic or anything, it was just that the singing was unexpected. She wondered if Sarah liked to sing for real or if she was just being silly for class. At any rate, it was time to continue. "Well, sorry about my umbrella," she said with a wink, knowing full and well that's what Sarah'd wanted to happen. Now it was Eliza's turn, and while she wouldn't mind getting wet she would rather avoid it if she could, just cause being wet wasn't very fun unless it was out in a real storm or if she was swimming. Fake rain didn't really tickle her fancy much. But sprinklers are fun, so...anyway.
She picked up the blue umbrella Sarah had made, since Eliza was a Ravenclaw she figured she'd use that one. "Thanks for letting me use one of yours," she said with a smile as she hopped into the cubicle. "Now we'll just see if it works!" she called out from inside the containment area.
She waited patiently for Sarah to cast the water spell, and once she heard her call it out - she heard the pitter patter splish splash of droplets falling down onto her umbrella. Some drops hit her shoes that were poking out from underneath the brim, but so far so good. The water seemed to be staying out...until she felt a trickle down her neck. What the? She reached a hand underneath the her collar and felt the wetness, then looked up. Right where the handle connected to the spokes and the fabric there seemed to be a small leak. A few more drops fell onto her hair, but not much more. Once Sarah had finished the spell, she hopped out and handed the umbrella back to her after shaking the excess water off. "Yours held up pretty well! Good job! Only thing is there seems to be a small leak towards the center of the umbrella. Riiiiight there," she pointed out. But better than mine!" She eyed her giant red umbrella that she had made during class and wondered if it had been made better than her floral one. "Would you mind if you tried out the red umbrella I made? I want to see if it works at all." If there wasn't time though, she'd understand. She could always take the umbrella back to the dorms and try it out on a real rainy day. a song bird? I do like to sing. I sing especially when my heart sings, like it gets overpowered with emotion so I make songs up!" she said to Eliza. "Its a pleasure- glad to be of use!" she told Eliza referring to the umbrella, "I hope it works."
Then Eliza went in and Sarah cast the water spell and the 'rain' came down. After some time her arm began to ache yet she knew that she was lion and lions were tough. Yet after some time she decided to finish the spell and soon Eliza emerged. Sarah was slightly discontent with the report, she liked perfection and as an over achiever, a job with a fail was not nice to her, yet she was okay. It was only an umbrella after all.
" thanks for trying it, i am sorry you got wet.. though. Sure I will try..." yet she then looked at her watch time was nearly up she had about thirty seconds left... " actuallyt there is not time to do it in class, yet I can help you test it out out of class if you want!" Sarah offered.
The lesson then officially ended, She then casted the drying charm on herself and went to collect her things. Before she left, one more thing "thank you for the lesson, proffessor!" she said, "and thank you for anwering all my questions.. just one more, are these umbrellas strong and how can we make them strong enough to withstand wind?" Sarah asked.

Ethan glanced over to the stall Minerva had mentioned. Good, it was empty so maybe they would have enough time. He nodded as she offered to go first and stepped inside. "Ready whenever you are," he said, giving her a little grin as she opened up her umbrella. Once she seemed ready, he lifted his wand, pointed it at her umbrella, and said, "Okay, on the count of three.. One, Two, Three.. Aguamenti." Water shot out from his wand and hit her umbrella. Hopefully it held up well for her. Minerva heard the water hit her umbrella, but it seemed to be keeping her dry. She smiled and twirled around a bit. It worked, that was great. She laughed a bit and then looked at Ethan. "Guess it's your turn now. You ready to play in the rain a bit?"
Just as she said these words she heard Professor Magnus end class and she turned and frowned at Ethan, "I'm sorry, I must have taken to long... I guess we could try out your umbrella somewhere else." She smiled at him, but felt bad for not letting him try out his umbrella.

Lex watched to see just how the umbrella was holding up. "How is it????" Because there were no re-dos; the class was over. Kat could hear the patter on her umbrella when Lex cast Aguamenti on her umbrella. It was quite successful at first but when she looked up, she saw that it was kind of soaking up. MERLIN had she made a cotton umbrella?! That was... ew. " Yikes. Lex, you can stop now," she said and then jumped off the cubicle and shook her umbrella dry. Hmph. Cotton. Lame.
Now it was Lex's turn. " You ready?" she asked. Yeah she was, no time to lose because they were going to be LEAVING in a while already. Kat was checking her watch occasionally. " Aguamenti." And a jet of water on Lex and her umbrella. Okay maybe that was enough water... " You okay, sister?" she asked because she cared. Enough said, yes?
And then it WAS time now. Boo! Kat kind of pouted and all before looking at Lex. " Hey, thanks for being a good partner," she smiled at her and shoved a chocolate frog on the Gryffindor's palm. " You've been awarded accordingly for your efforts." BEAM. Now this was pseudo sisterhood.
The Slytherin went to dry herself up with the spell that Hufflepuff was using on almost everyone, then she packed her things. " Thanks for the cool lesson, Professor Magnus," Kat nodded and smiled at the woman before leaving. Well... she won't be testing her cocktail umbrella at all. Not even thinking about it. SNORT.

"Thanks for the cool lesson, Professor Magnus," Kat nodded and smiled at the woman before leaving. Well... she won't be testing her cocktail umbrella at all. Not even thinking about it. SNORT. Something was wrong. Something was very wrong. She was no umbrella expert...yeah, she didn't sell 'em and she didn't professionally manufacture 'em either, but she knew for a fact that umbrellas themselves never got soaked. Nope. It just never happened. They were supposed to be made of the stuff that keeps water away not holds onto it til it starts dripping through. ""Finite." The water stopped gushing and she took a better look at the soaked umbrella her pseudo!sister was holding.
She was so distracted by the curious umbrella that she almost never heard Kat saying that she could have a chance to go. SHE COULD?! There was enough time?????
Lex looked to Professor Magnus once more. The woman hadn't started ushering them out exactly so she figured it'd be okay! EEEeeep! Leave it to Kat to find a way to make sure she was happy too!! This was one of the many reasons why she loved her! "Okie dokes!" She grabbed her blue umbrella and hopped into the cubicle. After setting the umbrella right she gave the go ahead and grinned as the water started hitting against the surface of her umbrella. "Hey this thing actually works!" She said, shifting slightly so she could get a better look at Kat but in that second the water began rushing against her face, quickly soaking her again before Kat had a chance to stop it.
Her grin got wider as a result of this. "Yeah, I'm fine and I'll be your partner anytime, sister." BEAM.
WAIT! Le Gasp! Lex squealed when she was handed the chocolate frog. "ThankYouThankYouThankYou!!!" Once she was all dried up she'd devour it like the others. Heh. For now she grabbed her things then turned to the Professor. "Interesting Lesson Professor. Thanks for not having anything potentially man-eating!" She beamed up at the woman as well before leaving the room. There were towels in her dorm. She'd dry off when she got there.

Yeah we could try more out sometime after class if you want," she added as she packed her bags. She wasn't really sure what to do with the floral umbrella, so she turned it back into a shoelace with a simple reverto. The red umbrella she tucked under her arm as she left the room. "Bye Professor Magnus. Thanks for the umbrella!" She was pretty certain they could keep them, right? She doubted the professor would want them since a lot of them probably weren't very functional.

Peyton stifled a giggle, though, a bit of amusement shown in her eyes. Okay, if West wanted to be devoured by two umbrellas fine by her. Of course she'd be there to help, though. She absentmindedly combed her hair with the fingers of her left hand, feeling it already getting puffy. Ugghhh...

West was waiting for her! She withdrew her wand, got on her tip toes so she wouldn't splash West in the face, and mimicked the way his hand had held his wand, upward. "Aguamenti!" she chirped. Charms was her thing so West didn't need to worry about her messing this up, hehe.
Upon hearing Professor Magnus' voice, Peyton turned her head in her direction. Aww, they were done? But she was barely having fun despite having been eaten by an umbrella. She pouted in Magnus' direction, forgetting about the small jet of water over West...

Something told her that it wasn’t fail umbrellas responsible for the drenching in all of the cases. She’d seen Mo get a jet of water to the eye after all, and others seemed to not entirely care about getting wet either. It was just water, but she also had to wonder if it meant that they weren’t really taking the lesson seriously. For all she knew, having these umbrellas was going to come in useful at one point or other in the future, and she figured it made more sense to know they worked. She’d stopped her idle train of thought as her partner had spoken again, however, and given her a nod. “Okay. I guess that makes sense, wanting to know if you were successful earlier or not,” she replied, shifting the handle of the umbrella in her hand to her wrist as she exchanged it for her wand. She didn’t see a point in setting it down just to make a pretend rainshower, anyway. “So then get set up and I’ll conjure up some water,” she added.
She didn’t think Professor Magnus was going to want them to just test it out in the open, even if the floor of the classroom was starting to resemble the Arithmancy classroom last term when it had flooded anyhow. Enough wet people had stood there dripping that there were a few puddles, and she was tempted to just outright jump into one of them, but before she could, the professor had spoken and she’d glanced over in surprise. They only had ten more minutes? Maybe she’d have to figure out how to test her pink umbrella after the lesson was over, along with rescuing the other one she’d semi-failed at creating. Either way, they needed to get moving. “Okay Oichi. Are you ready?,” she asked, glancing back at the Gryffindor to see if she’d gotten into the cubicle yet. Hopefully she was, because she was going to move ahead so she’d have the chance of at least testing one of hers. “Aguamenti!,” she cast, pointing her wand upward so the jet of water would curve up and rain down on the other girl. She knew she wouldn’t fail at that spell, at least. [/Spoiler]
Oichi held her umbrella steady and soon Kendall performed augmenti. Oichi cringed not knowing what may happen. She smiled as she felt the water hit the umbrella and not her. "I did it, my umbrella successfully gaurded the water. And you did great too Kendall. Want me to perform aguamenti so you can give you're umbrella a go before class ends?".

When she opened up the umbrella and his stream of water hit the covering, Alice cringed, sure that icy cold liquid was going to hit her again. But it didn't, not this time, at least. In fact, she was SO excited that she waving her umbrella in the air and ended up getting even more soaked. That didn't matter, though, not in the slightest, because this shoelace that wasn't a shoelace anymore was also not a failure, see? "Success!" Wet success.
Huh? Oh, was someone volunteering to help? "Yes, PLEASE. That would be nice." As fun as it was dripping all over the classroom floor, it would be lovely to go back to being toasty and dry, would it not? "And while you're at it, d'you think you could help Cactus? And then she held out her arms and waited to be dried by nice older person. He couldn't help but griiiiiin broadly at Alice's perplexed face. Y'see that, Your Highness? She wasn't the ONLY one allowed to be totally confusing. He did his patented victory dance on her behalf as her second umbrella worked perfectly. And yes, so she got a face full of water... so what? He'd gotten one too, and it didn't kill a kid or anything, right? Quote:

Alyssa looked around. "Cactus? Who is Cactus? Mo? Do you need me to help dry you up?" Alyssa asked the young Slytherin. Mo was still dancing as Alice was dried and solicited the same help for him. "What's that incantation? Sic...?" So next time, when Alice asked for help, he could actually help.
Mo turned his head to the professor, noting they were dismissed for the day. But fiiiiiirst, he needed to be dried off.

....
what happened if he let them go? He decided to experiment and he let go and....
... they flew up to the ceiling like helium balloons and just stayed there, drifting gently against the ceiling itself.
Um.
He watched them suspiciously and then got out of the cubicle, dodging aside from Peyton's continuous jet of water. "You can.... stop now." He said, still looking UP with interest. "I lost my umbrellas." Quote:

In fact, that had caused Kendall’s wand hand to slip a little, altering the curve of the jet of water, and she had cringed as well, hurriedly trying to re-adjust so she didn’t completely miss the cubicle and Oichi’s umbrella, which was patiently waiting to be tested. Actually, it was only the tension of the handle of the umbrella on her arm that brought her focus back, and soon enough the water was dropping onto the umbrella instead of the floor, which had been in danger of getting drenched seconds earlier. She let the charm continue for several more moments, too, just to make sure. Maybe any holes would take some time to start leaking after all, and she didn’t think the ten minutes were up yet. Either way, she’d figure out how to test her own umbrellas one way or another, but it would be easier if the time in the lesson didn’t run out.
Easier, but not happening. She cut the charm off when she’d heard Professor Magnus announce that time had run out. Of course, she had still left time open for finishing up their testing, but Kendall knew there was no way she was going to be able to test both umbrellas and be able to ask the professor if there was a way she could rescue her limp one before she’d have to literally run to make it to her next class. She’d just have to trust that she’d been successful, or find a way to test them later on. Maybe the professor could help her with that too, but her train of thought was interrupted as the Gryffindor had stepped over to join her. “Okay good. I was worried for a minute there that I was going to miss your umbrella entirely,” she said, turning to the girl with a shrug. “Looks like class already ended, so probably not. I think I checked mine for holes pretty good, so I’ll just trust that the spell worked. I have a couple questions to ask Professor Magnus before next class anyway,” she continued, giving her a smile. It wasn’t her fault they’d gotten started late with their testing. Plus, she didn’t have to worry about drying off.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Alice Knight Second Year |
Alice shuffled her feet nervously, hiding more towards the back of the room. If only she wasn't so gosh darn shy! Well, it's not so much that she's shy; she's just thinking of others! I mean, she doesn't want to bother anyone with her meaningless requests, people have better things to do with their lives. Or maybe that was just the inferiority complex acting up again.
Alice sighed softly, resting her head against the table.
Oh well, it's not gonna matter soon enough. She can just spend her free-time out in the grounds, learn a duplication spell, make a clone of herself and test her umbrella out with the clone. Simple. She doesn't have to bother anyone and she still gets the work done! Though, shy did she still feel a bit disheartened at the idea of once again working by herself? "Curse you human emotions," she grumbled.
