Centered among the shops of Hogsmeade is a well enough known pub in the small village, called The Three Broomsticks. Not unlike the Hog's Head down the street in the strictest idea of pubs, drinks and the like, however it is the atmosphere that helps make the latter choice the one hailed by the mass majority. The outside of the building is a good preview of what the inside may look like with the same steep roof as the surrounding buildings, yet taller, with a sign on it's facade featuring, you guessed it, the legendary three boomsticks, all fixed around a lantern to light the patrons' way.
Once you enter the pub, smells and the warmth of the large stone fireplace great you as you place hats and coats by the door. Directly infront of you there are tables and booths lining the majority of the small hall with oil lamps placed on each one. On winter days it is usually hard to find a place beside the large fire grate but if you're early enough, only Merlin can say what will happen. To your left the bar and most likely the bartender Harold "Hops" Lagerty, await you and your order--a few stools await you to take a load off and shoot the breeze with others.
The bartender is pretty sociable to those who don't annoy him. He's seen his lot of warlocks, goblins, and Hogwarts kids to know which ones were trouble and which of those made loyal customers, so be sure not to be put on the first part of the list.
A few rules from the Shop Owner: No brawling, no shouting (angrily), no alcohol to minors, and don't go up the stairs, I live up there.
OCC Rules: No RPing for the shopkeeper and all other School RPG Rules apply.

"I don't want any arguments about your candy probation. Look at it as long as you want if it doesn't drive you too crazy." She reached for her bag and fished out a small bonbon. "There you go, sweetie." It was big enough in Louisa's wise eyes, as big as Lex's thumb.
Then came a non-stop five-minute of rambling. Louisa wanted to yawn at one point but held it in, there was NO way Vivi was going to appear the friendlier mom friend today. Louisa was friendly too... in her own way. She DID roll her eyes at certain points, and was very grateful that Vivi did the guiding part. "Honestly, I think you're being too co-dependent on others, Lex. Don't wait for anyone to make that boring place a fun. Who cares if people are annoying in there? You can always replace their soaps with frog-spawn ones, or mince some hiccuping sweets into their breakfast, or I dunno. Stop complaining is what I mean." If this lioness was going to turn out to be ANOTHER co-dependent girl, Louisa was going to... get mad. "Her brother doesn't sound rude, actually. He's just a minion." Oh. "No offense." She said to Vivi, genuinely for the first time in this hour. "Odessas, man, they're evil folks." Her point was just being proven over and over again.
ANYWAYS.
"I've had a long day at home, I want to drink something." She gazed down at the menu again.

Because then THAT would happen! She looked up at Vivi withh wide eyes. "Whaaaaat? No. Don't listen to her! There's no candy probation--it's...it's a myth! Completely made up and unrealistic in every sense of the word.PleaseDon'tStopSendingMeChocolateFrogs!!!" They were all she had to look forward to!! >______<
There had to be some way of steering this conversation away from her not eating candy. She was about to change the subject when Louisa went into her bag. CANDY??
....
.........
She raised an eyebrow at the pathetic attempt at humour. It didn't even warrant a half smile so she simply scowled. It had been WEEKS okay so a week and two days since she devoured an entire bag of candy, now she was getting her hopes up for the candy shopping spree and all Louisa chose to give her was a small bonbon. No. Just now. The scowl prevailed. "Not looking at the candy will make me even more mad and that is NOT what we agreed on so you will be breaking your promise. I want to be taken to the candy store where I can have any and everything on the shelves." Oh but while they were on this promise thing. She turned to each girl with a curious look before asking Louisa. "Why were you looking at Vivi like that just now? Did she break a promise? If it's a candy promise then I apologize but she can only commit her candy to me, so..." Just forget about it and move on?
She nodded at what her Mama Vivi said next. "I am, very much I am. It's just not the same anymore and I made the team on luck. Pure luck and nothing else." She was sure of it, especially after the last game.
"And I don't mind socially awkward people--West is your cousin????" Ew. "On second thought...send me a puppy." That could work too. "A girl puppy." Because now she needed to be specific seeing as Vivi just said all boys were idiots. Something that was rather common knowledge but it just became a FACT the moment Vivi said it.
Then Louisa went saying more things that made her frown. "I am not. I do what I can and get in trouble for it. Just about everything fun is against the bloody rules." She muttered, but only because it was true. Lex paused for a minute and listened to her go on. The frown began disappearing. "HEY! That's a great idea! I can think of a few people who deserve it too!" Now Louisa was being more helpful than hurtful. Progress.
"He is, very much. I don't like brainless people."
Lex grabbed for her own menu when she saw Louisa looking at hers then handed the other to Vivi. "I want butterbeer and chocolate chip cookies." A well balanced meal that had chocolate. What more could she want? "What will you have?"
So that was that. Louisa was definitely not over things, and her snarky little comments rankled at Vivi. Vivi, who had NEVER lied during the whole mess last term, and who was here because Louisa had invited her personally. Merlin, was it some sort of messed up game with her? "You're of age. Order whatever you want off the menu," Vivi shrugged and made a vague gesture with one hand. It wasn't like Louisa needed their permission.
"But I'll thank you both not to talk about Mo like that. I'm allowed to make fun of him, but he's mine. He isn't a minion and he isn't stupid. He's loyal and clever and kind." And he was hers. As were West and Aspen, so Louisa should bite her tongue.
She turned her attention to Lex and settled her features. "She wasn't looking any way at me, Lex. You're being awfully paranoid. I've never broken a promise to Louisa or anyone. But let's move on and talk about candy. You must have done something if they're ganging up on you about it. Did you get into trouble?" Because it wasn't like Lex's metabolism wasn't taking very very good care of all that sugar.
Merlin, Lex was sounding more and more like she sounded back when she didn't have curves. The former Ravenclaw grinned at the younger lioness, "That's very impressive. With that attitude, you'll get people to either be under your wing or hate your guts. Learn how to harness it." Was she wise or what? She should just go ahead and try to be an Ambassador, she didn't need college. Heh heh. "No candy store. That bonbon is my promise payment." Like, you don't just say 'no' to Louisa's clever solutions. "And don't give me looks, love, I'm doing this because I care."
Louisa rolled her eyes and tried not to grin, it was awfully hard not to be amused by the way Vivi jumped to defend her little brother. It was cute. "Whatever you say." Her gaze went back to the menu. This shouldn't be a tough choice, she ordered the exact same thing every time she dropped by. Funny, she never thought she'd be here with those particular girls. "What she said." Louisa said from behind the paper before setting it down and addressed Vivi, "How's your YATI program, by the way? Congratulations on getting in. I didn't get the chance to.. uhh.. send an owl." It felt.. SO weird to have her previous friendly feelings for Vivi start to surface now. It was probably the old memory, seeing that the future plans they talked about in their dorm were no longer... future. It felt familiar and good and.. weird.
Lex and candy. Right. Back to this. "No chocolate chip cookies. It's still candy. We'll get whole-wheat cookies. Is it legal for you to have butterbeer?" Or orange juice? Shouldn't she just drink milk to build her bones?

Lex tilted her head and looked over at Louisa with eyes soaked in curiosity. "Is that good? I mean...I don't want people hating my guts or anything...--I want to have people under my wing though, mostly because it'd be my army and I'd get to be General Cambridge and stuff but yeah...not liking the hating part. I'm too adorable to be hated." The shallowness of that statement didn't even register to her. It was meant in all seriousness.
Her mouth nearly fell open in utter dismay and horror and just everything else that meant she wasn't happy. "It can't be your promise because you said you'd take me to the candy store and buy me whatever I wanted. I don't want a bon bon I want a box--or truck load really--of chocolate frogs that I can hide under my bed and be happy with for the rest of my life." So yeah, the girl was getting MORE looks. This was NOT how you cared for a baby lion. Didn't she read the manual? She was the only one allowed to not read, everyone else needed to pick up on their slack and learn to take better care of her. That wasn't a dependent behaviour at all, nope.
To Vivi's statement she shrugged a bit. No talking about Mo like that. Right. Got it.
OH YEAH!! That thing!! So nice of Louisa to ask. Her plan was working better than she thought it would. They'd be hugging by the time they were ready to leave!! GRIN. "Yeah, tell us all about your YATI training thing to fight monsters and bag guys! We BOTH wanna know." Too much?
Lex furrowed her brows a bit at the next question. "I didn't do anything, honest. I mean...I might have spent all the galleons Daddy gave me before the start of the Christmas break but I was having a candy emergency and it couldn't be helped! And the Healer was just being mean 'cause I took your advice to have my teeth impervious-ed and asked her. Not only did she say no but she TOLD Daddy then he figured I spent all my money and that I asked my grandparents for more and now he thinks I've had enough and shouldn't have anymore but you can never have too much candy." Fact.
Slowly her gaze shifted to Louisa. "That joke was even less funny than the one with the bon bon. I don't WANT nasty whole-wheat stuff. I want SUGAR. Stop being mean about it, will ya?" As for the legal stuff. "Do I look like I work in Magical Law Enforcement? How the heck should I know?" Did Louisa need a hug? She was acting sick again.

Taylor hadnt been happy in weeks. First her parents divorce and now the whole Damon thing and also the Brodie thing. She sighed but when Logan told her that he wanted to see her, she got a smile... a small one but a smile. Tay hadnt seen him in ages and had missed him so much. Taylor came into the Three Broomsticks and scanned the room, looking for her friend. A smile came to her lips again after seeing him. She went over to him and threw her arms around his neck, kissing his cheek. "Logan!" Taylor squealed and then plopped down on the seat across for him, "I missed you so much."

Vivi was not about to insert herself into this discussion (read: fight) about candy. She hadn't made any promises she couldn't keep, and she'd been providing candy to Lex all term. As for the rest, she was just going to keep her head down as she gestured for three butterbeers to be delivered to the table.
The interesting reaction wasn't Lex's insane protestation that she needed candy like other people needed air; the interesting one was that Louisa seemed to take Vivi's prickly response to insults leveled at Mo so well. Was it possible that being snapped at had actually softened Louisa up toward her? "I only just started at the Ministry, actually, but it's going well so far. I have to figure out all these new rules for behavior and expectations while trying not to get on the wrong side of anyone, but it's all very interesting at the moment." In other words, she was likely to tick someone off unintentionally and no one was letting her do anything fun yet.
"If we're going to order food here, how about we all order something well balanced, and then we can share a dessert?" That way, they could model healthy eating choices for Lex without being the bad guys.
Logan was nearly knocked over as Taylor hugged him and kissed his cheek. He laughed, squeezing her back and then letting her go. "I missed you too, Tay!" he said. It felt like he hadn't seen her in years! "How have you been?!" he asked.
Tay glanced down, "Times have been better..." She sighed and glanced down. Taylor twisted her ravenclaw necklace and sighed. She glanced up from under her eyelashes at Logan. "But how have you been? Been good?"

Tay shook her head, "I don't want to sadden this reunion." She sighed and glanced away. Taylor took a deep breath and pushed her blonde curls back. Her smile was fragile and that showed but she really was happy to see him again. "So is there a lucky gal that can call you hers?". She wasn't crushing on him anymore... That was only her first year at Hogwarts, she just wanted to know.

Logan nodded. "Okay, I understand." he said. "But you must tell me some other time soon, alright?" he said, looking at her with a very serious expression. He hated to see his friends sad and always had to know what was up.
He then laughed, blushing slightly. "I er...well...Ameliah and I are together, actually." he said quietly, looking down at the table. He had been pretty sure though he had told Taylor...but maybe he hadn't. He always forgot who he was telling what to. He had so many friends to tell this stuff to!

Too adorable to be hated? Louisa quirked an eyebrow at the adorable kid and laughed. "Yes, you keep telling yourself that. There are always the stupid people to hate your guts for being too adorable." Why did she feel so keen on destroying Lex's false hope in the world, Louisa did not know herself. But she was being caring and brutally honest, so long as there is someone gentle around to fix whatever might have been broken.
Her gaze fell on Vivi next to hear about her adventure in the ministry. Ish. "Wise decision. I bet you guys will go on exciting patrols. One of my friends just finished his training there, you can seek him if you need anything. Joshua Carter is his name." Louisa couldn't help but perk up at the mention of her last name. He was not related to her, but she felt more related to him than to her father.
Louisa eyed Alexa with the corner of her eye and crossed her arms when Vivi took the grown-up role and tried to compromise with them. "Fine." Hmph. Little kid wasn't supposed to get what she wanted. But maybe Lex was right, she was too adorable to be upset with her.
"You know... when summer comes around... you guys could... like.. come over if you want to... take a dip in the lake." WHAT. Louisa quickly busied herself with the marvelous table cloth in front of her.

Lex scowled at what Louisa said for a moment as she thought it through. Stupid people...stupid was the operative word in that sentence, wasn't it...? Yeah...it most probably was, so now she was left wondering why that would matter. When she couldn't figure it out she looked over at the girl with crinkled brows and a confused expression. "I don't see what would be wrong with having stupid people hating me. I'm allergic to stupidity...if they hate me they won't talk to me then I'll be an overall happier person." Because that's how life worked. Duh.
She turned to Vivi again, not hiding the slight look of disappointment and disinterest. "That doesn't sound fun, it sounds just like school. You should ask them to let you get the real cool jobs--like wrangling a stow away bandit!! Oo! Or like getting to go on one of their special missions where you won't be able to depend on anything but your wand and your skills!!" Seemed legit. Her Mama Vivi needed real action and from what she got just now, the most action she was getting was a run down the hall for spare parchment. Ugh. Her focus shifted to Louisa again. "Who's he?" You know, that Carter guy. One didn't simply give names to her Mama Vivi like that. What if the guy was some killer!!!!!!
Aaaaaand now she was back to looking at Vivi again. The way she saw it she got balanced meals inside the castle, why have them outside too?--And what was this about sharing a dessert??? A dessert? As in, only one? How in Merlin's beard was that do??? She blinked up at her, trying not to make it seem like a big deal because then they'd think she had a problem--which she didn't. "Um...yeah...that...that sounds great. We're having after-dessert too, right?" Yes it existed; no one question it.
She watched as someone got to the table with the butterbeers Vivi had ordered and took one with a wide grin. See Louisa, if it was illegal then the guy wouldn't have allowed her to take it. Logic.
She got hers open and was well into her first sip when she heard it. Louisa--and she--for the summer--you guys??--them both???????
EEeeeeepppp!!!
"Of course we want to!!!!" She said beaming over at her...Vivi was gonna say yes anyway so she figured she'd just get it out there for them both!! Her plan!!! It was working even better than she thought it would!!! Ahem, Lex was SUCH a Ravenclaw--well actually not really because she liked being a lion but she did have a Ravenclaw idea. Heh.

"And we got together during the summer before last year." he said, glancing at the counter and then back at Taylor. "Are you thirsty? Hungry?" he asked. "I'll get ya whatever you like." he smiled at her.

Tay smiled, "Thats good! You and Am are a great couple." She pouted a little, "I miss Am... I havent seen her in a while." Taylor shook her head, "Nah, you aint buying me anything." She stuck her tongue out. "I will buy yours and mine though." Tay giggled.
It was getting late in Hogsmeade and the Three Broomsticks pub was starting to clear out. There were still a few customers huddled around the tables, talking quietly over their butterbeers but the majority of them had all gone home for the night.
Hops had just finished sweeping up all the paper and debris from the floor that had accumulated after a day's worth of patrons and was currently counting some coins in the till contemplating what he would eat for a late dinner now that he didn't have any people to watch at the bar.

Despite the warm and breezy spring weather still lingering this evening, Erik Vinteren was seeking shelter in a certain favourite pub of his. Of Mr. Lagerty's, actually.
He strolled into the pub and looked around for its owner, finding the man easily enough. He looked to be counting money, at the bar. Perfect.
Erik settled onto a barseat right in front of the till and cleared his throat quietly. "Mr. Lagerty." It was good to see him again. How fortunate.
After a few minutes Hops decided that one of his chicken pot pies would hit the spot with a firewhiskey to wash it down. He was about to go in the back and get it when he heard the door open and saw a familiar person plop down across from him.
"Well if it isn't Mr. Vinteren? How're you doing this evening?" It was a bit late but perhaps he had been up at the school for some reason or another.

Erik was also thinking of ordering something off the menu. His blue eyes roamed around the bar to see how empty it was...a good thing...before he focused again on the bartender and owner.
"Doing vell, vhanks," he returned Hops' greeting with a nod. "How about yourself?" Maybe the bartender would join him for a bite.

"That's good to hear, the election stuff has been heavy on my shoulders I can't image how you're feeling." The pub owner chuckled, as he pocketed the majority of the till's coinage.
"I was thinking about grabbing a bite to eat, would you like anything?" Those chicken pot pies were calling his name.

Hah. "Heavy on your shoulders?" Erik chuckled softly too, though his eyes didn't seem to be laughing. "I vould hope us candidates aren't vhat troublesome, Mr. Lagerty..." Some of them were annoying, but he certainly was not.
He nodded and tucked his hands into his pockets. "I vould, actually. Can I buy you a drink?" He'd been meaning to talk to the Board's treasurer for ages.

Erik seemed to, despite his joke, understand that the election was hard on everyone even those currently already on the Board. "It is a bit hard on the ole Treasurer's shoulders though when the Headmistress is asking for the budget to now include a more sophisticated security system for the Castle and she's mentioned the Staff squabbling for more funds for each of their departments so we will have that to worry about once the other seats are filled." Hops didn't really intend for the word 'we' to be spoken but he had voted for the man sitting across from him and he seemed a worthy companion and board member all the same.
Buy him a drink? "Why not? Would you like something to eat, I was going to grab a chicken pot pie?" He pulled a bottle of amber liquid from under the counter and got two glasses. "Firewhiskey okay?"

Erik took in all that freely given information through very interested ears. "Sounds stressful," he agreed with a slow nod. "You can't alvays please everyone, though I admire you for trying, Mr. Lagerty." Or at least it sounded like he was trying anyway. Erik wondered what the treasurer would do if the funds were no longer there to support frivolous discussions about the budget and a more sophisticated security system...heh...but he was getting ahead of himself here.
"Firewhiskey's fine," Erik gave the other man a smile. "Sure. I've never had vhe chicken pot pie here." He hoped it would be good and hot enough. "Did you make it yourselv?"

Harold probably shouldn't have shared all of that with Erik but he was venting and the man had already been let in on a lot of information since he had been entering the Castle so many times as of late. So really it didn't matter, did it? He hadn't said anything too sensitive. "Yes, I know but it is nice to have the Staff on your side. Makes our work a lot easier."
"Alright then." The Treasurer poured Vinteren a glass too and waked through the door into the back room to grab two pot pies. "Yes, I made them with my late wife's recipe." Hops continued as he re-entered and placed it in front of the man.
