With the arrival of fall comes cooler weather, brightly colored leaves, and now an exciting temporary addition to the Hogwarts grounds! Seemingly overnight, a large field of corn has sprung into being thanks to the skilled wandwork of Mr. Firth. But this corn isn't just for eating at the Halloween Feast: if you look closely, you'll notice small walkways twist and turn through the field. That's right, it's a maze! Grab a friend and try to find your way through. If you succeed, you'll notice a table at the exit with warm apple cider, apple slices with caramel dip, and assorted donut holes. Don't spoil your dinner!
OOC: This thread will be open January 10-15. A map of the maze is provided below if you wish to RP your character all the way through the maze.

"You have a pretty cat," she complimented. The fifth year Slytherin didn't find it weird that Kendall trusted her pet. It's the same way Kat trusted her toad, B.O.B., whom she bought during the summer. But she didn't trust the toad well enough for outdoor adventures since it loved to jump around. Her toad almost ran jumped away from her at the common room, but with her super mega awesome speed she was able to catch up with it. Hopefully B.O.B. learnt his lesson. Hmph. "Thanks," Kat said and she accepted the bar of chocolate Kendall offered her. Eh, not sure what kind? Well, any was okay with her cos she wasn't allergic to chocolate in general. To know though, she had to taste it herself. The blonde tore part of the chocolate's wrapper and tucked the cut part in her pocket. The groundskeeper Firth would take away house points if she was caught littering. Besides, Slytherin couldn't afford to lose points. She took a bite of the chocolate and ate it. Hmm. "It tastes alright," she assured Kendall. Of course, chocolate tasted great! Oh... it might? Something Kat had to prove too. "We could try it later if we do get caught in the maze," she said. Not that she was disrespecting her friend's cat. Heh.
Kendall was finding it interesting trying to divide her focus between walking through the maze, keeping an eye on Accio leading her and Katrina, and actually listening to the Slytherin girl as she had spoken. The latter mainly because part of her brain was already thinking up random questions to ask, since unlike when she’d approached Mo at the feast, she hadn’t had much to go on conversationally beside the fact she’d seen the girl when she had investigated the lockout last term. That really wasn’t much to go on, so listening was going to be her best way of gaining information to come up with questions. Questions meant conversation, and conversation made their time in the maze that much more fun. Along with distracting them from the possibility of still getting lost, even though she still felt that her tabby cat was going to get them through the maze fine. They seemed to be making a lot of turns, but so far they hadn’t hit any dead ends. At least, no dead ends that weren’t actually a corner to turn and continue along the path. They hadn’t crashed through corn stalks yet either.
She’d turned to her companion again with a smile at the compliment. “Thank you. I’m sure Accio would appreciate it if he heard that, unless ninja superheroes don’t like compliments,” she replied. As far as she was concerned, ninja superheroes could do whatever they wanted. She did, at least, and so far nobody had told her otherwise. Patrick only gave her rules on being a superhero, but the ninja part was entirely hers. “And you’re welcome,” she added, as the chocolate bar had been taken too. She hadn’t meant her statement about not knowing exactly what the bar was to sound wrong. She knew it was chocolate. It was whatever else was in that particular bar that was the question, since she couldn’t remember if they wrapped the different experiments differently. “Okay good. It wasn’t that I was worried how it tastes. Patrick’s experiment chocolate always tastes good. I just couldn’t remember what else was in that bar,” she explained, turning yet another corner in the maze as she’d spoken. They had to be at the middle by now, if not even further. She’d lost track of time, and she glanced at her watch while Katrina had been suggesting they use the spell if they got lost. “We could. I don’t think we could climb the corn to find out where we were,” she finally said with a grin. She’d just hope that wouldn’t matter, and they’d get out of the maze soon.

Juliet then nodded to her. That means it's a yes from Tiffany. Good, because Juliet was not intending to go inside without her. Just like that, she swung her hand over Tiffany's back and started walking inside, completely dragging her with her. And hey, with this they could definitely catch up.
On the first part of the trail there were two sides. One is to go straight while the other one goes to left. "Let's keep walking" walk straight. "I hear there's food on the finish line." she said while glancing over to Tiffany. That'd be nice. Food after this maze.
We should work on your manly voice.
Tiffany nodded. Yeah they really should work on it because she could never sound like an old man indeed, not enough by using a lower and more horrible voice than usual. There was like no difference at all. Juliet should teach her how to imitate sounds, maybe she was an expert at that and might have some skills that could pass on to her. "You should teach me then,"she beamed as the snake dragged her by her side.
They walked all along the path until they saw a side road. Tilting her head by the right, she looked into Juliet's eyes for help but clearly they just told her to follow her instinct. But she didn't get any though... She ran towards the one to the right and took a peek to see if there was any trap or not. The one on the right should be the right path. Smiling, she grabbed her hand and walked to the right.
I hear there's food on the finish line. Food? Tiffany was so surprised by her statement that she almost screamed out loudly. She couldn't help making a small dance move as she was super excited about it. "What are theyyyyyy?" she asked with her eyes sparkling with hope. If they were all candies, then it would be AWESOME.

So far, Kat and Kendall haven't reached a dead end in the maze. That was a relief, since getting lost was probably the last thing Kat wanted to happen while they were wandering in adventures in the maze. The cat had proven itself wrong. They weren't going to get lost, since they were safe from possible 'monsters' and still walking, finding their way through the maze that didn't seem to end. Did Firth create this as endless? She wished it wasn't. It'd be tiring to walk around, wondering if you're lost or still in track. Hah, that was scary. "Your cat's doing a good job in keeping us on track," Kat said. "It's good that we're not lost. I don't seem to see dead ends." Well, they weren't lost yet but that's not what she was supposed to think about. Who wanted to get lost anyway? Nobody, of course. You'll just end up regretting you went in the maze and panic. The thought wasn't pleasant so Kat decided to dismiss thinking about getting lost and just trust Kendall and her cat. Yeah, it seemed much better. Way better.
"So it's name is Accio? That's a nice name, too," Kat nodded. Though she didn't know if it was a name for a girl or a boy cat. Wait, hold on. Did she say ninja superpowers? Kat looked at Kendall. "Accio's a ninja with superpowers?" Of course it can't be real but she said that just to bring amusement to their conversation and avoid the awkward silence. But, you know, a cat that's a ninja superhero would be AWESOME. She still preferred her pixie dust-farting toad, though. Now, Kat was listening to Kendall as she spoke about the chocolate she was eating. They were experimented... by a guy name Patrick. "Who's Patrick? If you don't mind my curiosity," she asked. She didn't mean to butt into other people's business, but she'd like to know who created what she was currently consuming. Maybe she can leave some for experimenting at the common room, and see what were used? Her ambition was driving her right now. Hehe, climbing the corn. That was funny. Kat kind of laughed at the thought of climbing over the corns when they could... eat it? "We couldn't climb corns, of course," she said. "But since we aren't lost, we can continue to follow Accio." Or just send red sparks and yell for help.

"OAKEY!" Sophie yelled dramatically again. The girl actually tried to walk through the plants around them but that was clearly impossible so she stepped back with her hair all messed up. No time to fix it now, though! They had to find her LONG LOST LOVE! Wat
Never letting go of her best friend's hand, Sophie dragged her around. She wasn't running this time, but she would walk fast for a while, the stop and walk back in the same speed. Some other times she would walk more slowly and some oother times, she'd stop completely, looking around and thinking again.
"We're lost."
Ella couldn't stop giggling because really, this was quite ridiculous. The other people in the maze probably thought they were nuts, especially with Ells calling out dramatically for Oakey Worm! Sophie's laughing was only increasing the blonde's and she ended up taking a deep breath, hands clutching her stomach. Heh. This was really fun!
After she'd composed herself, the fifteen year old looked at her friend and nodded. "Okay, let's." And she closed her eyes, hoping that this would somehow help strengthen her hearing. What? It could work...

"Erm Soph, there's no path there." Said Captain Obvious to the love-struck brunette trying to walk through the cornstalks. GIGGLE! And her hair? Her poor poor hair was a MESS! Ella frowned at that part. No head of hair deserved to be treated so poorly. "I'm fixing that monstrosity as soon as we stop." Just saying.
She was being dragged...just dragged around like she was Sophie's doll or something. She let it happen for a bit because she figured Sophie had developed some sort of like Oakey-sensor, letting her find him when she needed him. After a while though, the blonde decided to take charge.
"We're not lost...we're just...erm taking the scenic route." No matter that this route looking the same all around, nope. "Besides, we're badgers! We're supposed to be good finders, for Merlin's sake!" And they were going to find Oakey RIGHT NOW.
Ella gripped Sophies hand so that she was the one doing the dragging and quickened her pace a little. She listened occasionally and then adjusted their path according to voices she heard. Even if they didn't find Oakey, maybe they could find someone who'd seen him. Turning over her shoulder to look at Soph, the blonde continued to walk as she talked, "I think we're getting closer to people because I thought I heard some footst-"

Whoever it was that Ella had heard must have been much closer than she thought because she'd walked DIRECTLY into the person, causing herself to fall and take her best friend with her.
"Merlin." She said quietly, turning to check on Soph. "Sorry."
"Erm person? We can't be held accountable for our actions because...my friend here is incredibly love sick and in search of her boyfriend." Mhm. Seemed legit.

West grabbed her hand again without a word as they continued on their way.
"Well I saw the outside, and I know how far we've walked. I'm real good with directions and like.... distance, and... remembering things. I like.... don't get turned around in my head I guess." So it helped a bunch.
His memory was just kind of ideal for this sort of thing. Here was a kid who had never been lost in his life. Ever.

In fact, this was the only maze that she remotely like, it had food promised at the end and she had West with her, so she felt safe and...not lost.

"Well if we count where we came in as corner one, we went..." he pointed at the nearest wall of maize, "Behind there first, that first big dead end we hit, its just on the other side of this, that would be corner two, and we came from corner three, which is diagonally opposite corner two, and if we go around this bend, and sort of in that direction," He pointed again, using their joined hands to indicate where he meant, "Theoretically corner four should be there, and that should be near the exit, diagonally opposite to where we came in, unless the exit is somewhere between corner two and four and in that case we'll get there before we even hit the corner." since they'd already gone around the edges between corners one and two, one and three, and three and most of four and they were just coming around the last of the edge between two and four. Did she understand? West looked at Bliss expectantly.
"You know what though? Even though there is food," And West was at that age where he was REALLY into food, "I kind of wouldn't mind being properly lost in here, on account of I'm with you and its fun, and if we were lost I could be here with you for longer." Nod. He peeked around the corner of one gap, noted a dead end, decided it was the edge between 2 and 4, and then led them around and through the next gap.
It was nearly over.

"We could..... get some food and then.... maybe bring it back in here and eat it like a picnic?" Or something. There were plenty of dead ends, one would work to picnic in for sure. "And I'll try to be lost for a while even." Because.... food. Free food. And probably treats.
He still didn't move to the exit though.

Bliss wasn't sure why they weren't running for food...because...y'know. It was food. She still didn't WANT to leave the maze though, which also didn't make much sense to her because she hated mazes. Something must be wrong with her! The maze...the maze had sent her insane! "We...could. Picnics are fun." But in a maze? Not so much.
But she'd be with West so it wouldn't be bad at all.

"Picnics are fun." He repeated, which was obviously a brilliant thing to say, but it was mostly just stalling. He sort of took another halfish step, and hovered as if he was going to lean forward and keep walking but he didn't, instead he suddenly turned and looked at Bliss.
"Hey Bliss? Are you.... um.... bothered?" About things and stuff.

Ellura nodded as Selina acknowledged her presence as they met just inside the entrance of the corn maze. "Uh huh, thats me," she answered in confirmation, somewhat glad that she had managed to get someone to remember her amongst her housemates and other students. But then she supposed as a student leader, especially head girl or boy, it was their job to try and remember people.
"Would you mind some company?" she asked, the question not needing clarification as to what activity she was asking about being a companion on. It seemed pretty clear that maze exploring was what was on the agenda. She couldn't help wondering though if she should perhaps wait behind if the older girl wanted to go at it alone. Selina hadn't looked upset by her appearance but that didn't necessarily mean she wasn't just being polite at first.
Best to question rather than just assume something...right?
Okay, so how was she going to conquer this maze. The only coherent thought that came to her mind was- WHAT WOULD BOND DO? Well, he would have gone all 007 on the maze and kicked butt and took names as he went. But she was no Bond... that was not her goal. What was her goal was to be a BOND GIRL. Yeah. That.

She wondered when that sparkle went away? Maybe fifth year? Yeah, OWLs had the ability to strip ickles of that sparkle. It was an AWFUL test.

She was? Cos he was, which was weird on account of he didn't expect to be, but he was. Bothered. But they'd talked about botheredness. And what would happen when she was bothered and she was? Blink.
Food was a bit forgotten --not completely forgotten since it was the second most important thing in the world, only Quidditch was ahead in the grand scheme of things-- but enough forgotten that suddenly being bothered was extremely important and sort of made sense of the maze.

But he was totally a PRO at this now, thanks to Kat, so really, Bliss being bothered shouldn't be a bother right?

It was easier that already he was holding her hand on account of she needed to be closer, and also on account of her hand felt nice and everything too.
He was being very quiet, which was unusual since it was WEST and all but well, it was for important reasons. Suddenly he smiled. "Me too, I'm bothered too." And just to prove it, he pulled her closer, leaned forward, and kissed her; gentle, sweet, and definitely bothered.

Ellura nodded as she was told to listen up, obeying the older girl. It wasn't as if she was going to be rude and simply ignore her for that would defeat the purpose of being friendly and wanting to go along with her. She hadn't been expecting the comment about James Bond though, a curious eyebrow raising every so slightly. Selina wanted to be a Bond Girl? That was cool, she supposed, the girl familiar with the character at the very least. Maybe said explanation would come later...when they were through the maze.
"Alright...I promise," she said agreeing to the condition. "Let's go then." The third year energetic to begin and if anything Selina's words promised interest if not adventure. And that was more than okay for her.

When they finally broke apart...y'know finally, Bliss...blinked. Yeah, she blinked and just stood staring at West. In a totally non-creepy way, promise. That had been...nice. VERY nice in fact and she just...it wasn't processing. She'd had her first kiss, in the absolute scariest place ever, with West. That sentence...didn't make any sense. Er...Maybe if she thought it really fast? She'dhadherfirstkissinamazewithWest.
It still made zero sense.
It was still nice.

West kept hold of one of her hands as they finaaaaaaally got to the exit and stepped out of the maze. As soon as they did he could SMELL the food. YUSSSSS.
DONUTS AND CARAMEL? And apple, but honestly DONUTS AND CARAMEL? He really had to meet the new groundskeeper and thank him for the food.

"Accio's a ninja with superpowers?" Of course it can't be real but she said that just to bring amusement to their conversation and avoid the awkward silence. But, you know, a cat that's a ninja superhero would be AWESOME. She still preferred her pixie dust-farting toad, though. Now, Kat was listening to Kendall as she spoke about the chocolate she was eating. They were experimented... by a guy name Patrick. "Who's Patrick? If you don't mind my curiosity," she asked. She didn't mean to butt into other people's business, but she'd like to know who created what she was currently consuming. Maybe she can leave some for experimenting at the common room, and see what were used? Her ambition was driving her right now. Hehe, climbing the corn. That was funny. Kat kind of laughed at the thought of climbing over the corns when they could... eat it? "We couldn't climb corns, of course," she said. "But since we aren't lost, we can continue to follow Accio." Or just send red sparks and yell for help.
Even though Kendall still had faith that they weren’t lost, it still seemed like they’d been walking a long way. Not to mention all the corners they turned, but so far she still didn’t think they were lost. Not to mention by now she was fairly sure that the only thing in the maze with them was other people and corn, which was helping her stay relaxed. She wasn’t about to get scared when Accio was around, chocolate was around, and she was trying to continue to make a new friend. She’d sent Katrina a smile as she’d commented on Accio’s sense of direction, too. “Thanks. He usually finds his way back to the common room on his own, at least, so I figured he’d be good at getting me through the maze too,” she replied. “There really haven’t been any, have there? There’s gotta be some though. Don’t all mazes have dead ends?” It must just show how good her cat was at finding his way through it, that they hadn’t found any. She wasn’t going to question that now, and she definitely didn’t want to intentionally go searching for dead ends and get lost. She was determined to prove that this maze wasn’t like the other. This was going to be a fun maze.
She’d turned another corner as the comment about her cat’s name was made, and she grinned in response. “Yep. It’s pretty awesome, isn’t it?,” she responded. “He actually answers to it too, which is funny.” Since it basically made it like she was literally summoning the cat, and she stifled another giggle as the subject being discussed had craned its neck to look at them curiously before he continued leading them forward. “Of course. Normal cats couldn’t do everything that Accio does,” she pointed out, completely honestly. She wasn’t joking or anything, and besides, she still figured he had to be one when she was. A ninja superhero couldn’t have a normal cat. That train of thought faded away as the next question came out, and she returned her look with a curious one of her own. Maybe Katrina didn’t know all the other Slytherins. “Course I don’t mind,” she began after a pause. “He’s my boyfriend, and a fifth year Slytherin like you. And he lets me help him with awesome chocolate experiments.” More accurately, she helped in order to actually get the results of said experiments, although she actually learned things at the same time. Turning another corner in the maze, she glanced back at Katrina again. “Don’t think we need to try to climb the corn anyway. Isn’t that the exit?,” she said, pointing at the opening about ten feet ahead of them as Accio came back and sat at her feet.
