She hadn't gotten very far when she heard a someone ...accepting a challenge...? NEAT! She wanted to accept a challenge too!!! The girl whipped around instantly, hoping to see something crawling through the walls of corn but there was only a man fixing his tie. She squinted her eyes to get a better look.

Oh wait, wasn't that Professor Airey?

He made it!! Normally she wasn't one to back track but they were gonna be going through together!!! "Professor!" She called, skipping over to him with a wide grin. "Are you ready to get to the other side??"

They would be getting to the other side, that was her plan and she was going to stick with it. "This is Felix, I don't know if I told you about him!" Then she held the kneazle up towards the Professor's face. "Go ahead and pet him, he's friendly!" Well...relatively friendly anyway...

Maxwell walked up to the maze. This was new, he didn't know what to expect but why not explore it a little bit? right? It was nice to get out of the common room for a bit, he wasn't feeling up to exploring the grounds his first few days.

He spotted a familiar face. Minerva...she looked....beautiful as ever. But he really didn't want to think about her that way, he wanted to try and be just friends with her, but given their history it got hard sometimes. "Hey, Min...You going in?" He asked and looked over it. "You don't mind if i join you do you?"

Minerva jumped a bit when someone spoke to her. She had been in thought about going into the maze, deeper then she had wanted to be since she was startled. Looking up she realized it was Max. Looking around she was surprised to see him alone. "Hey Maxwell.. How have you been, I don't think I've seen you this term yet." She wasn't surprised he hadn't been to classes, Maxwell was never known to be in classes.

"Looking at the maze again, well yeah I was thinking about it, but was hoping someone would want to go in with me. So I'm game if you want to try to go through it." They hadn't hung out in awhile, and why shouldn't they be able to be friends. He apologized, so she would try her best to let things go back to friends. "Whenever your ready to go in we can. Where is your girlfriend?" Kind of surprised not to see him with Elliot she figured she would ask.

Ella was glad Soph was laughing about the worm comment and she BEAMED at her friend before giggling. Oh and she'd had herself a dirt flavored bean? GRIN. "I always get the grass flavored ones...makes me feel like a rabbit." Maybe Sir Treyen would want to adopt her because of this? He liked rabbits, yeah?

Psh, yeah! Ella hoped that too! She couldn't even imagine just walking along and suddenly being like eaten by some maze-monster! Only...maybe she could because they had sort of experienced this in Arithmancy, right? ...Right. And if she'd survived that then she could totally make it through this. Oh and CUE SIGH OF RELIEF! Ella was super happy that her best friend wasn't okay with WASTING her precious gummy worms. "Thank Merlin you said that, Soph!" Ella said, clutching her bag of gummies tightly. "I mean...I would have if you thought it was a good idea but I sort of hate wasting these." It just didn't feel right.

"Yeah, of course we'll be alright." And besides, Ella and Soph were smart! And they knew things...about spells...and Ella had been a beater...well for a little while at least so she could like...whack things if necessary. See? SKILLZ. They were SO going to make it through this maze like it was their job.

Walkity. Walk. Walk.

Left or right? Ella frowned slightly and looked in each direction. "Hold on, let me see." And she closed her eyes, spun on the spot with her right arm stretched out in front of her, pointing her index finger when she stopped. "That way!"

Yup, highly scientific choice right there.

"Diving in it is. I like diving in when you're trying to figure things out. Its always best to TRY things you know? And figure out if you're like... into it and stuff before you decide that you're not." West didn't mind dead ends either, since it just meant turning around and finding a better way.

"I've been to some real big public mazes. My dad took me and Aspen a few times. Lots of fun. How many people do you think are in here?"

FOOD.

Alice had heard there was a maze on the ground, which didn't interest her all that much. What did caprure her attention was the fact that there was a picnic supposedly waiting for them at the end. So the lioness dragged herself down to the grounds for eating purposes only. Mmhmm.

Once she reached the entrance, though, she paused. Did she want to go in with someone else? Not that she was afraid, mind you, because Alice Fischer wasn't a skittish little lion. No, she just thought it might be helpful to have someone watching her back. And, lucky for her, waiting right beside the maze's opening was the perfect partner. "Hey, Nell," she greeted, beaming at her. "You going in?

As luck would have it, Penelope didn't have to wait very long at all to make a decision because a familiar face appeared by her side. "Hey, Alice," she replied back with a friendly smile. "Yeah, I am. You are too, yeah?" Why come all the way down here if she wasn't going to go into the maze, after all? "Wanna go with me?" Seemed good to ask instead of assuming she would, though she didn't know why Alice would refuse since they were friends, unless she just really wanted to go through the maze alone, which was okay too.

Penelope was probably excited about the food, too, wasn't she? "Yeah. That picnic at the end sounds too good to pass up." Because Alice was pretty sure that no sane person would refuse snacks. Ever. "Sure. We'll be a good team." They would. Penelope could kick things out of their way like she kicked the Quaffle, and the fourth year hadn't bitten anything in a long time. They were going to be.. INVINCIBLE. Undefeatable. Or something.

And, if there was anyone Alice was willing to share food with, it was this girl.

Oh yeah, the picnic. Penelope should've figured that was probably the reason Alice was interested in the maze. It was her reason too, but she also wanted to explore it just for the heck of it. The food at the end was an added bonus and encouragement to do so. She nodded then when Alice agreed and said they'd be a good team. It was true, they would be. They were a good team. They'd worked well on the Quidditch team last year along with their other teammates after all.

Which made her think of how awesome this would be if they got the whole team from last term together to go through the maze at the same time. That would be crazy fun. But Penelope wanted to go through the maze NOW and didn't want to try figuring out where everyone else was and force them to come. Plus one of them, Landon, wasn't here anyway, so it wouldn't be quite the same. So no team-from-last-term bonding right now, sadly.

"Alright, let's go then," Penelope replied with a grin before heading forward into the maze.

Maxwell smiled at her, his normally charming smile. He was happy to see her. "Yeah, i haven't been too busy lately....still feeling a bit under the weather, but i'm better now...i think." He shrugged wit a small laugh.

"Yeah i'm up for it." Max was always up for trying something new. "I'm not sure, studying or something." He shrugged it off as if it weren't something he should be doing. Max had been studying just on his own, in his dorm room. "Where's your boyfriend?" He asked doing well at not being rude or snarky about the boy he didn't like. He thought about asking 'Where's yours?' to imply that Ethan was a girl....but he was trying to be nicer so he held his tongue. "Ready?" He asked, looking into the maze.

Kanna could hear other people in the maze with her, but she was still quite alone. That was fine with her. She had a tune stuck in her head and began snapping her fingers as she walked along, humming to herself at the next intersection. Ehh... Why not?

But the choice was quickly proven to be a dead-end. Ah, well. It wasn't that far from the intersection sheh ad just been at, so going back and going the other way wasn't a big deal. But she wished Kit was with her, or even Pigeon. Kanna loved her pets, and now that her hoodie was too small, she had given it to Kit, knowing how she loved to curl up inside it. But she knew that Kit was in her cage under her bed at the moment, and Pigeon was... probably in the owlrey. Maybe. It was hard to tell. The owls didn't like Pigeon... 'cause he was a pigeon.

By the time Kanna had chosen another path, she was practically dancing along, snapping her fingers and humming maybe a little loudly.

How cool would it be if there was a sudden flash mob in the maze?

Harvey was walking through the maze just absent mindedly, he and Ella had talked. Which hadnt been the best of talks, but he had found out some interesting things from her. Things which he didnt know had happened, but he was not going to show how he felt about that. Cause no-one needed to know that he knew, only he and Ella would know that she had told him everything. Alec.. Alec.. the kid that he had told to look after Ella.. and he.. goes on a date.. with the girl! Was that how he looked after girls that had just broken up with their boyfriends? Well no-one tell him to look after those heartbroken girls then! Well no point crying over it.. it had happened, no way he could change that now. Might as well move on right.. putting a smile on his face he continued his little stroll through the maze.

Truth be told, Alec wasn't in the happiest of moods. After everything that had happened, the fifteen year old really needed to be alone right now. And taking a stroll through the maize maze was the perfect way to be distracted and alone, right? Maybe.

The Hufflepuff dug his hands into his pockets as he walked through the maze. It was... scary, yeah, but not as scary as the maze they had to walk through for Arithmancy the previous term. Yeah... that one was- WAIT. Did this maze have... obstacles in it?

BLINK BLINK.

Okay, it was time to be a little bit more... alert in this maze. Alec dug into his pocket and took out his wand. There. Now he was safer and he could get through the maze and eat the snacks that were provided at the end. ... There was going to be food at the end, right? Something really awesome? Like ICE CREAM?

GRIN.

Shuffle shuffle shuffle... shuffle shuffle shuffle...

... "Harvey?" GULP. Was it him? Alec blinked and shuffled a little closer towards the tall figure in front of him. ... It WAS him! And... and... Alec had called out his name! Which meant that there was no way he could escape and avoid the awkwardness that a conversation between the two of them would comprise of. The two of them had to stay there and either have a mini chat or just... walk through the maze together. And one topic was bound to come out, right? ... Yeah... good going, Summers.

"Erm... so... you want to walk through this thing together?" They were... friends, right? Even if he, Alec, liked Harvey's ex-girlfriend. GULP.

Harvey heard someone call out his name, it did sound familiar but he couldnt quite put a name or face to it. So he turned around and saw who it was... Alec, he put a smile on his face for the kid. He nodded.. well why not.. they both had to get to the end of this thing.. right? "Sure.. Alec.. we can do that" Was it a coincedence that not long after Ella and his conversation he should bump into the second half of that date. Did Ella send him here? Or did he just HAPPEN to be here? Well they would find out soon enough.. wouldnt they? Well he was actually a little relieved in the fact that Ella said that Alec didnt like her like that and that they were friends, but something was.. he didnt know.. there was something that told him.. that was not it. But he didnt want to start blurting out questions right now, maybe when they were deeper in the maze. That way the kid wouldnt be able to leave, like Ella had tried with him. Its easier to leave out in the open than in a maze "So.. er.. which way shall we go now?" he asked not showing the kid what he was thinking, he then added a smile to his face so.. as not to scare him....

Alec couldn't help but feel slightly guilty about... all of this. Sure, nothing had happened between him and Ella while she had still been dating Harvey but... he still felt slightly guilty about it all. And with the way Harvey was smiling at him and being so... nice only made Alec feel even guiltier. Could he just... run away? Before Harvey found out about everything?

Or... not.

"Erm... thanks," he said, returning the boy's smile, "Erm... it's better to do these things with... someone else so... yeah. Thanks," Had he almost said the word 'friend'? Yeah. Maybe if he had used that word, things would be a little less awkward between the two of them. And they could actually have a happy walk through the maze as two friends. Mates. BROS.

... That was taking it a little too far.

"Oh..." Which way... which way... "Erm... this way?" he asked, pointing to his right. Hufflepuffs were particularly good finders, right? And Ravenclaws were smart. So... yeah. They could reach the end soon and enjoy the food treats that the Groundskeeper had left for them. This could actually be really awesome! GRIN.

Harvey nodded and smiled "No worries" well he couldnt exactly say no.. cause Harvey had problem saying no to some requests.. and this was one of them. He nodded in agreement "Yeah.. yeah it is.. two minds are better than one.. right?" meaning that if they put BOTH their minds to this task that it could be done... right? But through no fault of his own.. whenever he looked at Alec.. he remembered that date, he wondered who Alec might have thought his secret admirer was. Did he instantly think it was Ella? did he like Ella? All these questions and no answers to them, looks like he would have to wait for them. Ella wasnt too pleased with his performance earlier and so Alec could be his only chance at getting those answers, so he had to tread.. very ..very carefully with this boy. He then looked to where Alec had pointed and Harvey nodded "Ok.. lets go that way then.. come on" he encouraged him as he started walking in that direction hoping the boy followed him "So... how have you been?" he asked him.. simple question to start a conversation off with.. that he really hoped would end in some replies to the questions that he had, questions that would tell him if Alec.. kind of thought that it was Ella who sent him that letter. They were friends.. so as friends.. Harvey could ask him stuff.. right?

Alec nodded along, agreeing with what the guy had to say. "Yeah, they are," he said, "And... erm... hey, we can help each other, erm, get through this..." And bond. Or... something. Because the two were friends, yeah? And Harvey had... experience. The guy could answer questions that Alec had had for a very long time.

... This was going to be really awkward.

"Erm... alright," he said, shrugging his shoulders and following the guy along the path. He hurried up a little so that he was in step with the older Ravenclaw and then continued to walk. "Erm... you don't think there are obstacles in here, do you?" Because this was a MAZE. And his experience with mazes had taught him that they were filled with things that are likely to get to you and make you lose your path. And they also liked onto grab your precious hair. Sadface.

And then Harvey asked a question. And Alec blinked slightly. ... No, it was just... a simple question. Harvey was just concerned about his well-being, yeah? That was why he was asking what he was asking. Yeah. That had to be right. "Yeah, I've been... fine, yeah," Lie. "Just... nervous about Quidditch tryouts and... classes? Those too. Erm... how've you been?" ... Mental note: Keep away from any topics about the previous summer.

He smiled as Alec agreed with his statement, cause thats what everyone said and it was true. In some cases two minds DID work better than one he then smiled and nodded "Yeah we can, cause we both want to get out of here, so yeah.. we can help each other out and think about getting out of here" cause that was the only way they were going to get out of here anyways, both helping each other out and thinking about solving this maze to exit it. Harvey smiled as Alec followed him down the chosen path, Harvey looked to see if there was another path that looked like it was going towards the exit but there wasnt a path anywhere.. it was just a long stretch towards the end. Obstacles? "Umm yeah there could be a few, I mean it wouldnt be a maze without something to try and stop you from reaching the end.. right?" Alec now had Harvey wondering what kind of obstacles the Groundskeeper must have put into this maze. 'Ive been fine'? What was eating away at Alec, he knew that was the classic line that everyone said to avoid the question "Gonna have to do better than that Alec" Harvey told him as they continued their walk "You will do well in both the tryouts and classes, I have seen you play.. so you have nothing to worry about when it comes to quidditch.. and in class.. you are like Ella.. smart even though you think otherwise" yes he mentioned her in this conversation, NOT to trip Alec up in the conversation.. but it was better to call her by her name.. rather than saying..'a girl'. How was he? Harvey slowed a little to think about the question "I have been.. good.. well.. just going to classes and stuff. Cause I have to.. you know.. got no choice.. OWLs and stuff" yup so that was the reason that he had to attend classes even though he may not want to. But as long as he had some time to get out of the castle and be able to spend some time in the fresh air.. then he was ok with having to attend all the classes and stuff.

Violet really wasn't entirely too positive what to do today. She almost felt like there was nothing for her to at the moment. So what was she doing...just aimlessly walking the Grounds..hoping to find SOMETHING to do and fill this boredom she was dealing with. To attempt to fill some of that bored feeling, she looked down at her boots as she made each slow step along, wherever she was going. She sighed and began to kick her feet a little bit off the ground, almost making her feel like she was in the makes of beginning a big dance number.

Actually, that sounded quite fun..Hmm...

She closed her eyes and went to kick her leg up to do a high kick, but it had stopped halfway when her foot had hit something. Violet gasped almost falling over, but had quickly caught her balance. She looked to see what had caused her to almost fall over and what she saw was apparently a sign that said...Maze Entrance.. Huh, how interesting. Had this always been there? Not that Violet could remember at least..

A bright smile came upon her face as she looked at the entrance of the maze. Rushes of eagerness ran throughout her body making her feel all giddy, so much that she couldn't prevent herself from running into the maze without hesitation!

Violet immediately went straight and then made a left turn, then a right, then she decided to go straight again. Her smile was becoming wider as she went along, but then...dead end...Oh goodness..Not to worry! Just go back from where you came! Turn around and go! And Violet did just that, and tried to back track her steps..as best she could..

Little did she know, she was only going further and further into the maze..

Tie in check and his shirt perfectly tucked in, Airey decided to go for an open jacket look since he was most likely going to be a little active getting lost walking around this maze. He had hardly taken one step forward when she heard someone calling out for a professor.

"Miss Cambridge, hello," he replied while giving the young Gryffindor a two finger salute. "You bet. But I have to warn you that my sense of direction on the ground isn't very good." That and he had the attention span of a ferret when it came to mazes. He had a somewhat photographic memory when it came to certain things, however, so he would at least be able to remember if they had turned left or right or diagonal...

Airey's eyes widened and he nearly squealed like a little girl when he saw the MONSTER that Alexa had in her arms. Those THINGS should be illegal to be carried around the grounds. No, not just the grounds. ANYWHERE.

"No.....thank you." *TWITCH* Taking just a few big steps to the side - and feeling his skin crawling and fingers twitching towards the lint roller in his breast pocket - Undetectable Extension Charms were WONDERFUL things. "He is going to be coming with.....us?" Airey asked while pointing his finger to himself and then Alexa and then her MONSTER and back around and around like the hand on a clock.

Alyssa had read about the Maize Maze on the bulletin board and figured that she would try out the maze for herself. After having to maneuver her way through a maze last term for her Defense Against the Dark Arts OWLs, Alyssa discovered that there was a technique of doing it....or so she thought. The idea was to stick to one side of the wall and follow it all the way through unless she saw that it ended up in a dead end, then of course her theory would be wrong.

Now here she was standing at the entrance to the maze. She took her first step into the maze and walked straight in. She immediately had a choice to make. Take the left turn or continue straight ahead. Alyssa decided that she would take the path facing her. Placing her right hand on the side of the wall she followed it through until the path ended. But she continued following the wall and even though it took her along the dead end, she found that she was soon on another path.

"Yep looks like following the same side of the wall theory is working so far. So guess I'll keep going." Alyssa continued to follow the path, using the side of the wall on her right hand side to guide her. As she walked, she wondered there was anyone else in the maze with her. She could sounds of people talking but she couldn't tell from which direction the voices were coming from.

...cause we both want to get out of here...

Never have truer words been spoken in... well... ever. At least Harvey was honest about this? Because even if they weren't in a maze, he was pretty sure that the older Ravenclaw could be doing something a lot more awesome than hanging out with Alec. "Yeah... yeah, we can," he said, nodding again, "We make a pretty great team, Harvey!" ... Was it too early to say that?

... WHAT?! O_O Oh... yeah. Harvey was right. That was actually... pretty smart of him. Yeah. "So... we keep weary, then? And... look out for obstacles?" Because there was no way he was going to nearly be dragged into a bog by a Hinkypunk again. Not happening. And... if they came across something that showed their deepest darkest desires, how would Harvey react seeing a certain blonde haired girl come up twice?

... Maybe this wasn't a good idea.

"Erm... I... what do you mean?" he asked, looking up towards the older guy. ... Yeah. Everyone seemed to be saying things like that to him. That he was going to be brilliant. That he could just do his thing and everything would be okay. But... what if it wasn't? Shaking his head, Alec just smiled at the guy. "Yeah... erm... I hope you're right," he said, nodding. ... And then... he brought up Ella. And Alec just BLINKED. His heart started to race and for some reason, his shoes seemed to be gaining his interesting right now. This was so difficult. "Erm... yeah. She's smart and... I... thanks," Did he know? Didn't he? ... It sounded as if he didn't know anything.

Could he leave?

And that 'good'? Alec didn't really believe that but... he wasn't going to question it any more. Nope. "Erm... I... that's great. Really. Erm... you deserve to be happy," What was he saying?! "Oh right! OWLs... You nervous about those?"

She had seen it from the windows in Ravenclaw tower, but it had taken Kendall some time to decide if she wanted to investigate. Only because she still had bad memories from the maze that was the Arithmancy final last term, but that hadn’t been a corn maze. That had been a hedge maze, it had been dark, and she’d been on her own. This time around, she made sure she had her stash of chocolate in her bag, and she brought Accio down from the tower with her. Besides, she didn’t figure that there would be very many acromantulas roaming a corn maze during the day, if at all, plus there was supposed to be treats at the end as opposed to cursed items to decipher. Not to mention, as she’d drawn nearer to the start, she’d counted several people who had entered, including what looked like the Astronomy professor. They weren’t about to put anything scary into a maze if the professors were going to be roaming around inside too. That was her theory, at least, so she felt braver once she stepped through the entrance, her orange tabby at her heels and bag o’chocolate hanging from her shoulder.

Only to hide a grin as she saw the professor’s reaction to Alexa’s cat, as the younger Gryffindor held him out to the man. She hadn’t really seen the girl since that strange argument with the portrait last term, but it seemed like she had touched upon a weakness of the professor’s. A weakness that only brought to mind Mika’s comment in the common room after the opening feast about wanting to call him Professor FancyFeast. She was going to keep Accio away from him either way, just to be safe, as she skirted around the trio to make her way further into the maze. Keeping her cat on the opposite side of herself from the others and therefore hopefully safe from any flailing. In any case, Accio apparently had decided he was going to forge the path, as he moved ahead of her resolutely and she was forced to keep an eye on the slender, upraised tail so that the orange didn’t get lost in all the corn. If she was lucky, she’d find someone inside to accompany her, but at least she had her chocolate, and she took a bar out of her bag and broke off a piece as she continued walking.

He smiled as the boy agreed that between the two of them they could solve this maze and reach the end where there should be some sort of prize waiting for them both, hopefully one that they can divide between the both of them. Harvey looked at Alec and smiled "Wait until we reach the end before you say that" he said, but maybe they were.. so time to agree? "but yeah.. I guess we do" he didnt know where else they were a good team, but maybe there would be a situation where they were.

"Yup! thats what we are going to do" cause thats all they could do right? and if obstacles did come up they would tackle them together, like the good team that he was talking about not two minutes before. He wondered if the obstacles they would come across were dangerous ones or ones that were pretty easy to tackle, well he was sure they would find out sooner or later as they went through this maze. This was a pretty good idea "This was a good idea Alec.. you and me.. working together I mean" he said to the boy, cause it was.. what if they came across something that Alec didnt know how to get past.. that could be where Harvey would come in.

He looked at Alec.. "I mean.. that 'Im fine' stuff.. doesnt work with me, either you are better than.. fine.. or you are not.. which is it?" cause he knew that people were avoiding the question when they just responded with... 'Im fine' .. he wondered why he was avoiding the question. Harvey nodded "I know I am right" had anyone seen this kid play? maybe they needed to record it with a muggle camera or something and show the kid how good he was, then he would believe that he had nothing to worry about at tryouts. Harvey smiled as he agreed with him that Ella was smart, he looked at Alec who seemed to stutter a little.. but that could be cause he was just nervous right? not cause of anything else.

He was actually kind of glad that Alec didnt question him about his statement on his wellbeing, he deserved to be happy? "Yeah I guess it is. Well everyone deserves to be happy actually... not just me" even Ella. If Ella was happy with this kid.. then who was Harvey to say that she couldnt move on with her life and date him? Harvey was no-one anymore, he wasnt even a friend now. He was just some guy that she knew, maybe he shouldnt have given her such a hard time about that date. It was not like anything had happened after that.. right? So why had he upset her so much? Harvey nodded "Yeah.. yeah I am.. they are .. big.. big exams you know.. so yeah.. I am nervous" he hadnt realised how nervous he was becoming until Alec questioned him about his nervousness. It would be Alec and Ella's turn in a years time, but he didnt remind him of that fact.. just yet.

So Harvey was... smiling a lot. Alec didn't... really understand. Did the guy really like mazes and puzzles this much? Or... was he just happy to be meeting Alec here? Either way, Alec didn't really have anything to complain about when it came to the smile. It just made him feel even guiltier, that's all. "Yeah... it was a bit early for that, wasn't it?" Hair!ruffle. "Oh... awesome!" GRIN.

"Yeah... sounds like a good plan," he said, nodding. They really could work together on this and who knows, they could end up defeating a monster together. That would be pretty awesome, right? And...
