The Ravenclaw Common Room is one of the airiest rooms at Hogwarts. You have to climb a tight spiral staircase to get to the beautiful room. It is a wide, circular room with midnight blue carpet, arched windows hung with blue and bronze silks, and a domed ceiling painted with stars and various constellations. It is located at the top of the seventh floor and the door to enter doesn't have a doorknob or keyhole, but a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. In order to enter the room, a person must answer a riddle asked by the eagle knocker; if they answer incorrectly, they must wait for someone else who gets it right.
During the day, Ravenclaw students have an excellent view of the school grounds, including the lake, Forbidden Forest, Quidditch pitch, Herbology gardens and the surrounding mountains. There is a small fireplace in one corner with a few couches surrounding it. The room is furnished with tables, chairs, and bookcases; and by the door leading up to the dormitories stands a tall statue of Rowena Ravenclaw made of white marble. A delicate looking circlet has been reproduced in marble on her head with the tiny words, 'Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure' etched into the intricate diadem. Past students claim that the sound of wind whistling around the windows of the tower is very relaxing while going to sleep or studying for classes.
SPOILER!!: Drawings of the Common Room from Former Ravenclaws
SPOILER!!: Diagram of Room Layout
When you first enter the Common Room, you are flanked on both sides with two huge bookshelves. These shelves are full of books from former students and professors. They are charmed to never leave the Common Room Area. Just past each bookshelf can be found a few Study Tables. These tables are here for you to work on homework or ask questions of fellow housemates about homework. But, unlike what the other houses think, there is always time for fun for Ravenclaws. Various board and card games can be found on the bottom shelf of one of the bookcases. Feel free to play games on the Study Tables, as well, but only once you are done with your homework. In the midst of all of the Study Tables, are two announcement boards, the Diadem and the Eagle's Nest. The Diadem is used to post announcements about class meeting times and homework assignments. The Eagle's Nest is where you can find all of the news from Hogwarts.
In the middle of the room is a seating area with a couple of couches and armchairs that the Head of House, Professor Cerulean, has charmed with a cushioning charm to make them extra comfy. On the far end of the circular-ish shaped room is a fireplace surrounded by Blue beanbag pillows and four couches. This is a popular area to lounge at and make friends or to just sit and read or work on homework.
On both sides of the fireplace are the famous arched windows. You can see all over the grounds and school from this vantage point. Feel free to take a seat on the cushioned window sills to work.
To the far right of the room is the beautiful statue of Rowena Ravenclaw with her infamous diadem. Keep an eye near her statue because the ghost is known to visit the Common Room and her favorite area to float is near the statue of herself.
Just past the statue is the staircase leading to the dormitories. The staircase splits at the top. The left side leads to the Girls Dorms and the right side leads to the Boys Dorms. Remember that each has been enchanted to insure that you don't venture up the wrong side.
Once answering the logical riddle at the entrance, come in, take a look around, have a seat and make new friends!

...And more about pranks. Sighs. Addy was no use in this category so she nibbled on an apple slice and watched the lot of them.
And what's her name was rambling about something else... so BLAH. Addy dug around in her bag once more until she pulled out a book. May as well catch up reading if they were going to keep on about pranks since she had nothing to add.
Her eyes occasionally raised off of the book and narrowed at them all. Not angrily, just because. SHe was listening and not really retaining the information. Heh. And then... dragons? Really? "Pray tell what do you intend to do with dragons?" She had to hear this one.

She glanced over to Addy and Kendall and added quickly. "Maybe we could do something to mess with the Board of Governors thingy?" She offered with a shrug. "I heard that there are going to be some fun ideas - you know we could mess with them and make them feel like they are being stalked or something." She offered with a shrug.
So far nobody seemed either put out by her faint insult of the shoe polish on telescopes idea, or that interested in her idea for outside the headmistress’ office. Honestly, that wasn’t going to stop Kendall from going through with the idea, and they could listen if they wanted. If everyone ignored her, it just meant she’d be on her own again, and that would make it easier to get away with it all. Minus the fact a life-size mural would be hard to get done in one night, but she’d accomplish it if she had to. At least they could use magic inside the school, so it would be easier than if she’d tried to do the same at home. Actually, doing a mural at home would be a good idea too. Maybe some butterflies in her room, or something in the hideout, although she’d have to run that by Patrick before she did anything. Either way, she’d practice here at the school, and then she could think about painting murals elsewhere, and her idea really honored Hogwarts anyhow. The only question was how Headmistress Truebridge would take it once it was finished.
She hadn’t even been particularly bothered by Addy pulling out the book. That gave the older redhead an excuse for not paying attention to her, anyway, and she wasn’t going to worry. Addy could stay only interested in Rawdon and his family if she wanted. Although, it appeared the dragon comment had gotten her attention, and Kendall shrugged at the question. “Not actual dragons,” she replied, glancing over at Mika as she had offered a suggestion too. ”And not fireworks, although that could be fun to do too. I was thinking more of the headmistress leaving her office one morning to find a life-size picture of a dragon outside.” There, she’d said it. She already had the sketch created as to what she was aiming for, too. She probably should have waited to see if either of the boys had seemed interested as well, but the idea was out now. All she had to do was wait. Wait, and respond to Mika’s other idea, which had also been interesting. ”We could do that too. How would we make them think they’re being followed, though?” Go all ninja and steal some of their belongings or something? Maybe she could train Accio to help with that.

When Presley entered into the common room the first thing she noticed was that it was empty, except for one group of people who seemed to be planning something. Curious, she meandered over to them and listened for a second. A prank. They were planning a prank. A grin spead across her face. She didn't want to just butt in, butshe kind of really wanted in on the prank. A bit of rebellion was just what she needed right now. "Anything I can do to help?" she asked casually.

Kanna hadn't planned on coming down so soon, but a tiny winged thief forced her back downstairs after the feast. Moments after a small grey pigeon flew down from the girl's dormitory, carrying a pheasant feather quill in his tiny claws, a young lady sprinted down after him.
She hadn't changed from her arriving attire. Her shoes were still very shiny, her dress pants creased nicely, and her white blouse still white, if not a little wrinkled. First impressions were everything, after all. The tie, however, a shiny silver-and-blue striped one, was loosened around her neck. And her hair had been freshly dyed before arriving, so it was at it's rmost noticeable, a bright flash of koolaid red.
Kannalynne wasn't looking where she was going, nor did she notice any of the others in the room. She was focused, instead, on the bird overhead. Pigeon was wanting attention, and this was how he got it. He flew to the other end of the room and perched on a shelf. Of course, by the time Kanna had crossed the room, he had taken back off with a quiet 'coo', and perched on top of a standing lamp in the corner.
Not meaning to eavesdrop, the red-haired lady overheard something about shoepolish and fireworks. She didn't pay attention until she heard 'make them think they're being followed'. Kanna glanced over to the group of students before focusing again on her bird, who decided to take his flight over to the mantle of the fireplace. She had no choice but to follow him there.
"'Scuse me," she said softly, having to step around a couple of people to get to the fireplace. But, again, what they were saying caught her attention, but she did her best to ignore it. Whatever it was, it wasn't her business. Right?

Nerida was curious in her ideas. And it seemed some other people would to. "Ah that sounds cool! You could have the dragon 'flying at her' in the picture!" Or maybe she was picturing it different in her head. Hmmm...Oh well if she had. Make the BoG people feel like they are being followed...That sounded interesting. She nodded at Mika, great idea!! " We could have our animals do it... If you cat listens to you..You might be able to have them follow a person around until she gets what she wants. " but that sounded not to great...She knew her cat could follow one of them around...
Mika realized that people were overhearing their conversation and got suddenly nervous. This conversation wasn't exactly on the up and up as it were. "Well -" she shrugged, "you could give me chocolate..." she laughed if off a bad bad horribly bad joke. "But sneaking in to their rooms while they are here and moving objects on them would make it strange for them." She admitted with a laugh.
Shrugging she wondered about other options. "Ooh we could make trip-spell things...like have words appear on the wall or mirrors when they walk by...and have it say something cryptic like I see you...or we are watching...you know creeptastically creepy-stuff." She offered with a hard-edged smile.
What. It sounded all too fun. "But the Dragons sounds sooo much fun!" She bit her lip while thinking "we could also have a life-size moving dragon statue appear...like expanding on the miniature dragon-statues from the Tri-Wizard Tournament before the great war." She offered with a smirk.
Yeah that would be awesome.

Delphinia crossed her arms, her kitten absent. In the back of her mind, she couldn't help from note how strange it felt without her little warm body to hold. Philia was fine, though. In Nathan's care. And the Ravenclaw had more concerning things to worry about for the moment.
"Stupid little witch!" Delphi murmured under her breath, almost stomping into the common room after getting stuck outside for a few minutes, tongue-tied and confused from the riddle the door had given her. Normally, it wouldn't have been a problem.
But now, irritated and flustered, Delphinia's mind barely registered the question. Never mind the answser she had to provide. With a loud huff, the Seventh year dropped into the nearest unoccupied armchair.

Rawdon was quiet as he listened to the ideas and for some unknown reason, he turned to look at the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw. He studied the statue for a few minutes before replying to the group. "Before we plan anything, we need to do a little background work. You know, like get to know the professors and get an idea of what we can or can't get away with. The Board of Governors is also a wrinkle we have to deal with and from what I know about Headmistress Truebridge, she wants everything to appear perfect. "
Hmm...but what should we do FIRST?

Addy had been distracting herself somewhat... Until the dulcet tones of a fellow Ravenclaw caught her attention. Raising her eyes she immediately tensed. HER. Addy didn't care for HER. Snapping her book shut she scowled heavily. "Excuse me. It's time I go study or something... somewhere else." And to think... she had to share a dorm with her. HMPH. Addy wasn't sure what was worse. The scores of letters she had tucked away from Nathan, or HER. Just HER. Being there and being all... HER.
Rising she shot a glare toward the girl, turned and gave Rawdon and the others a half smile and waved as she walked away.
When she had flopped down in the chair- no, when she had entered the common room, Delphi hadn't noticed who was or wasn't in the room at the time. Not that she particularly cared, for that matter. But she certinaly noticed afterward, especially when one female Claw up and left in a huff with nothing but excuses as to why.
Unsurprised, the seventh year looked over to the younger boy she must have been addressing.

He looked to be a fourth or fifth year, maybe. Not house mate that she recognized from last term, but that didn't mean much when it came to Delphi. It was rare to catch her up in the common room or dorms unless she had to be.
With a glance back to where the girl Claw had been standing, she looked back to the boy. "I'd stay on your toes with that one, seems she likes to spread rumors when she doesn't get her way." Delphi stated seriously, giving a slight shrug of her shoulders. "Just a friendly piece of advise."

Rawdon blinked twice at the girl who now addressed him and gave her the Vindictus stare. "Addy's my friend," he told her bluntly as Addy left the sitting area. "We haven't met. I'm Rawdon Vindictus."
Grin.

"She was my best friend's friend too," And then some, but Delphinia prefered not to mention that part. "But that's no more." Hence her tip. Delphi didn't like truth twisting, and would never go around lying. Her mother had taught her better than that.
Though she was certain she'd never met the boy before, he did look the slightest bit familiar, in such an odd way.. and then he introduced himself. "Vindictus? As in, related to former Professor Vindictus?" So Professor Vindictus retired, and his.. son? decided he could attend Hogwarts now that 'dad' wouldn't be looking over his shoulder all the time? Interesting. "Nice to meet you, then. Delphinia Suvari, at your service." Not.. literally. But she did offer a small smile.

"Oooh," he replied. There is no way that I'm gonna ask WHY. Girl drama isn't my thing!

Awkward pause.
"So, erm, are you a fan of Quidditch?"

Different timeline... trying to breathe some life back into the CR! ANYONE?
Addy was on cloud nine. She didn't have a caaaaare in the world. Nope. Having just left the library, books in her arms, she made her way into the common room and plopped into HER chair. Of course she had her little chameleon buddy in her hair and she smiled at the thought of all the time she had been spending with a certain Prefect. HEHEH.
It was NICE to find a NICE person at Hogwarts. I mean, Rawdon was nice and maybe a few others, but mostly people were rude and mean and just... UGH. Making herself comfortable she smiled whimsically, set her books to the side, kicked her feet up, and just giggled a little bit to herself.

Presley drug her heavy backpack into the common room on her way back from the library. Spotting Milton by the fire she lugged the monstrous bag over and sat down in a chair next to him. "Hey, Milton! I was looking for you this morning," she greeted him.
Then realizing her statement could be construed as slightly creepy, she continued. "To ask why you weren't at the Quidditch game, I mean. I didn't mean that I was following you or anything." As usual, her words got ahead of her brain. She ducked her head. "I'll just stop talking now before I dig myself a hole."

Milton was so busy focusing on trying to focus that he was rather startled when he heard someone start rambling beside him. He lifted his slightly widened eyes to see Presley sitting next to him. She was looking for him? ".... Hi," he replied simply.
Oh, right. The Quidditch game. "Oh, err, yeah. I got knocked out playing ice hockey with Rawdon." Milton chuckled a little bit, even though it wasn't really fun. He was just stupid sometimes and it was usually too late by the time he realized it. "Was it it good? The game?"

Er..." What was she supposed to say? "I'm glad you're okay! Wait, you are okay, right?" Why was she so stupid? The normally eloquent girl could not seem to get any words out around Milton.
"I only caught the very end," she admitted. "But we won, and by the cheering I'm assuming it was good." She noticed his homework for the first time since sitting down. Was she interrupting something that had to be done asap? Hopefully not. "Homework?" she asked lamely, gesturing toward the parchment.

Milton nodded and tried not to chuckle again. Was she acting funny? "Yeah, I'm fine. I just have to be careful about how fast I move my head." Standing up to fast caused minor headaches.
"I heard it was really good... I've got a killer team." And yes, he was boasting. They were HIS team to boast about, after all. Milton nodded towards his homework and let out a sigh, leaning back into his chair. "Unfortunately. I put it off too long."

Presley nodded slowly, trying not to be awkward, but stall until her stupid brain came up with something to say. "Yeah. You guys are a really great team." He had seriously just said almost that exact thing. She was so clever. Not.
Finally she remembered the real question she had wanted to ask. "I actually had another question for you too." Because her head was full of endless questions. If she was duelling a dark wizard Presley would probably forget about the duel because she was curious about why he chose that color for robes or something.
"This is really awkward, because my brother works in Broom Features Development at the Ministry, but I don't know how to fly. I mean, I can reasonably stay on the broom for about ten seconds?" Get to the point Presley Lynne.... "So I was wondering if you could help me sometime when you're not busy?"

Milton nodded. Yep. He just said that. Okay.
He lifted his eyebrows and gave her a nod, a signal for her to go on and ask. And he was actually quite surprised. She couldn't fly? She didn't know how? "Seriously? It's like, easier than walking." He almost laughed, but he felt like that was rude. "Yeah, sure," he said almost immediately. More things to fill up his time, he was totally okay with that. "I'm not too busy this week and I can help during practices and stuff." He gave her a small shrug. "Plus, I'm a pro. You'll be flying in no time." Smirk.

Easier than walking? Maybe for him. She beamed when he agreed to help her out. "Great! Thanks." She hopped up out of her seat and grabbed her giant backpack. "I'll leave you to your homework now. Sorry for interrupting!" Because if she spent anymore time talking, he might decide she was certifiably insane and have her committed. Besides, as third in line for the House Cup, Ravenclaw could use all the help it could get.

Milton smiled and gave her a nod. "No problem. How soon do you want to start?" They could start tomorrow after classes, this weekend, whenever she wanted. Oh, was she leaving? "Oh, no, it's fine. I'm totally not getting anything done anyway." So, she could leave if she wanted, but he was pretty much done with homework.

Oh! They probably should set a time. Presley quickly ran through her schedule in her head. "Well I have dance tomorrow and the day after...are you busy Friday?" Friday would be good.
She laughed. "I probably should go finish a couple of things right now anyway." But really, he should get his homework done. Because it was his NEWTs year...and who was Presley to tell anybody what to do? "So I guess I'll see you?" Thank Merlin that at least sounded casual.

She had dance? Were there dance classes, or was she just going to go.. dance somewhere? Milton didn't question. "Friday sounds great. I'll meet you on the pitch after classes."
Milton shrugged. "Alright, sure. Nice talking to you." He gave her another smile. "Yeah, I'll see you around."
Not for the first time, November found herself wishing Dominc had been sorted Ravenclaw - or that she had been sorted Hufflepuff, as they'd always anticipated. When dreaming of Hogwarts, they hadn't actually pictured a school career separate from each other. It wasn't that November held any dislike for her peers; on the contrary, they seemed a rather keen sort! But she just missed her best friend.
It was a further shame that neither Eddie nor Ezra shared a House with her either, though she wasn't sure she could fathom quite what it'd be like to share a House with Ezra. He'd probably just try to curl up and sleep everywhere and wouldn't keep as good company, maybe. But then, she couldn't imagine herself as Gryffindor or a Slytherin, either. Or Eddie as a Ravenclaw. Anyway, thinking it too much jumbled about in her head and made a mess of things. She'd rather not do that, not when she had this free time.
When she ambled into the Common Room, she found it rather empty, and she couldn't quite decide how she felt about that. On the one hand, had it been full and loud, she might not be able to think clearly or find anyone free with whom to talk. But had she wanted empty and still, she might as well have just stayed in the Girls' Dorm! As it was, she decided perhaps she ought to sit here and wait for someone who wasn't busy with their nose in a book to show up. Surely someone around here might be available for entertainment purposes. They couldn't all have gone to Hogsmeade, could they?
The small girl frowned to herself, brows knit over her blue eyes. It wasn't fair, the Hogsmeade trip limitations to third years and up. She couldn't wait for that. For the elective courses and the Hogsmeade trips and all the great fun that came with it all! It must've been great fun, if it was restricted. Everyone knew that restricted stuff was saved so the bigger kids could hog the fun and show off and make them envious so they couldn't wait to reach it.
