Alyssa entered the room that had been assigned for her to test out the umbrella she had transfigured from a shoe lace. She looked around and realized that the room had been converted into a shower room, completed with tiled floors and a row of shower heads at the back of the room

"Wait where are the valves to turn the water on and off?" Alyssa thought to herself as she walked towards the back of the room towards the shower heads. She looked around hoping that Professor Magnus was around so that she could ask her. 'Maybe Professor Magnus is not done changing the room. Maybe I came in here too early.' Alyssa leaned her umbrella against the wall of the room before walking under the shower heads and looking up hoping to see a gadget of some kind that would turn the water on.

.....and discovered how the water turned on....because water started spraying from the shower head, splashing all over her face and her body, totally drenching her. Alyssa sputtered and quickly stepped out from under the shower head. The shower head stopped spraying water.

"So that's how it works." Alyssa said to herself as she wiped the water from her eyes and face. She stepped back under the shower head and the water came splashing out again. She stepped out and the water stopped. Alyssa stepped in and it rained...she stepped out and it stopped. On...off...on....off...as Alyssa stepped in and out from under the shower head. Alyssa felt that she could do this all day but she knew that eventually she had to test her umbrella. So she stepped out and away from the shower head.

First she needed to dry herself. Taking out her wand, she said "Siccus Aerous" as she waved her wand in two little clockwise circles while moving it up, down and all around her body allowing the hot air blowing out of her wand to dry her clothing and her hair. Once she was dry, she ended the spell.

Jory for some reason had been hoping to the the rows of mannequins but of course they were not there. He took in the tiled floor and shower heads before heading over to one of the heads, his tri coloured umbrella in his hand.

The badger eyed the head. "Er... how does this thing work?'' He had noticed there was no way of turning it on or off. Umbrella still in hand, he began looking more closely at the head hoping to see something that would let him make it work. But minutes later he had no such luck.

Jory then stuck his head, face up, under the head and received a great deal of water on his face and hair. He quickly pulled back and the water flow stopped immediately. "Aha!'' he said as he shook his head so that water flew from his hair. "So that's how it works.'' He was about to use that spell used in the last class to dry himself off but he changed his mind. His hair won't take long to dry.

"Time to see if this umbrella works.'' The boy shook it open, held it over himself and stepped under the head. He heard the water splashing down on it. He waited patiently to see if any water would seep through. But after minutes of standing there, nothing happened. "Seems I have a winner!''

Utterly forgetting the way the head works, Jory removed the umbrella from over his head. "Uh oh.'' His head had received another soaking. With the umbrella over him again, he stepped out from under the head, shaking his head again, and then closed the umbrella. "Time to write that essay, now.'' He headed back to the common room.

Now that Alyssa had figured out how the showers worked, she quickly opened up her umbrella and inspected it first. She checked to make sure that nothing had changed since she had brought it transfigured it from a shoe lace and had brought it up from House Study Table.

She peered closely at the joints where the spokes met the cover, checking to see whether any holes had appeared but after some close inspection, she didn't see any.

'Okay time to test you out.' Alyssa thought to herself as she picked up the umbrella and placed moved it up to shelter her before she stepped under the shower head.

Immediately, like a motion sensored muggle equipment would do, the shower sensed her presence under its head and started spraying water. And like before in class, Alyssa began to sing, changing some of the lyrics to the song, just in case, there were young 'uns in the room with her.

"Humidity is rising - Barometer's getting low
According to all sources, the street's the place to go
Cause today for the first time
Just about half-past ten
For the first time in history
It's gonna start raining friends.

Even as Alyssa danced under the shower with the umbrella sheltering her, she kept an eye for any sign of leakages. 'So far so good.' Alyssa thought to herself. Once she was done singing her song, she figured that if she didn't see any leakages by now, that meant that her umbrella had passed the test.

She stepped out of from under the shower head unwilling to end her time under it, but she knew that she needed to head back to the Study Tables and finish up writing up her report before she submitted it to Professor Magnus. Closing the umbrella, Alyssa folded it shut and made her way out of the Showers, humming the tune to the song quietly.

Most of what Lottie said was disregarded the moment the flask--wait hold on--the BLUE flask was placed in her hand. THIS was all she needed, not the thrown down umbrella on the floor that had no use to her.

"Mhmm, Professor Airey...sure..." She wasn't listening anymore, could Lottie tell? Inside was CHOCOLATE, hot chocolate for a cold girl and it was kind hard to think of anything outside of that. BUT she did hear her say that they were going to test their umbrellas now so quite reluctantly she took up the rubbish umbrella she had made; it was rubbish because Lottie's looked so much better, and led the way back up the stairs and towards the Homework room.

She would have been terrified about entering after the traumatic experience in her first year but see, someone told her that the mannequins were gone so she had absolutely nothing to worry about.

Lex entered the room, still sipping away at her hot chocolate, she was making it last, OKAY??

"Do you wanna go ahead and test yours first?" She asked, taking in the various shower things. "Or should I....? Really you should." Because she was still enjoying her hot chocolate. Yup.

Go on Lottie, get testing. She was fine with being patient and waiting.

There were...just so many staiiiirs. Like now. And she sort of misplaced the box containing the helium.

Lottie kept on talking the whole way up to the sixth floor, and sipping on her raspberry tea, too. Whatever she'd been talking about wasn't nearly as important as Lex's hot chocolate, based on the amount of answers she got from the Gryffindor.

Once inside, she noticed the showers, and was told by Lex she should go first. A tiny smirk appeared on her face. She could've just left the hot chocolate on the floor while she tested the umbrella, you know? Like she did with her tea. "Okay, I'll go first, no problem," because she really wanted to know if this was a functional umbrella. Who cared how it looked, right? As long as it works...and looks pretty.

So, the girl opened her umbrella, placed it so it'll cover her completely and went to..., "Hey, how does this--," --work? Never mind. A BEAM spread across her face as she noticed the shower heads were magically charmed, it seemed, to be turned on whenever someone stepped below them. That was pretty cool, Professor Magnus! "It's working, right?" she said, as she eyed the water falling from the edges of the umbrella, and checked the constellations to see if there was water seeping through...but..., "Hey, it works!" she was also touching the umbrella, just to make sure.

THIS WAS TOTALLY WICKED!

Lottie stayed under the shower for a while longer, before finally stepping out, "You should try it now!" she was incredibly excited over this. Heh.

Lex watched on curiously as Lottie stepped under the shower that had no handle. She would have asked how she planned to get the thing working when out of nowhere it started gushing water like it was nobody's business! COOOOL!

Now she couldn't wait for her turn! Not that she was anxious enough to wanna give up her hot chocolate and simply try it in another shower while Lottie took her turn. Nope. There was no rush.

She stood perfectly still for a moment trying to answer her own question and when she realized that she wasn't getting soaked a wide grin broke out on her face. "YES! Mine works too!" It looked like rubbish compared to Lottie's but it worked!

She hopped out from under the shower and flashed the umbrella a bit.

"Time for refills in celebration!" She said, beaming over at Lottie as she picked up the blue thermos again. More please?

Was it working? Was Lex's umbrella working? From where Lottie was standing, it seemed as if it was. A smile made an appearance on her face as Lex confirmed her suspicions. AWESOME! See? They were very talented witches.

At least in Transfiguration, because Lottie had no idea what Lex was like in other classes. As far as Lottie goes...Transfiguration, Runes and Astronomy. The rest...well...she supposed she could be good in History of Magic if she decided to care about it. Or the Professor was changed. Herbology was different, because she liked trees and nature, not so much the lessons.

Anyway...

...Lottie LAUGHED when Lex mentioned refills. Lottie still has tea, you know? "The kitchens. Come." But she was still going with Lex, because they deserve some celebration! Definitely!

And...out of this room they were. Off to see the elves. And we don't mean Hufflepuffs.

Once again they were back with the showers, and Mo couldn't help but give the cubicles a wide berth as they entered the room. Yes, he was likely to get very very wet, but he didn't have to like it. In fact, he was going to play smart today - he wasn't going in wearing sock or shoes and he planned on removing his jumper before getting into the cubicle. Hopefully his bunny umbrella would stand up to the water, but considering how damp he got last time... it didn't hurt.

"I guess we take turns again trying out our umbrellas." Mo sat on the floor and pulled off his shoes - first the one without laces and then the other one. His socks were carefully tucked away too. "I can go first, I guess." Since he wasn't afraid and felt all confident and whatever. He folded his sweater neatly and set it next to the giant terrifying woodchuck umbrella before stepping into the cubicle and opening the much smaller bunny umbrella. "Ready!"

Ella followed Hulk and Mo to the homework room, eyeing her umbrella as they went along. It would keep the water out, yeah? Because as much as Ella liked water and saw how important it was for like...drinking and washing and general watering purposes, she didn't really like the idea of her hair getting all messed because of a downpour. Nope. So yeah, ice cream umbrella had better work.

Mo was...O__O "Why are you taking those off?" Because like, they weren't meant to wear their swim suits or anything as far as Ella knew. Oh... so he was just going barefoot. Yeah, she guessed she could understand that.

"Okay so...well the shower heads are here but I don't see a handle." She said, eyeing the heads on the wall. "Erm...maybe it's just meant to turn on by itself?"

And she watched, waiting for something to happen.

"He's taking them off because last time us two were partners in Transfiguration, I waterlogged every single item of clothing he had on," Alice clarified for Ella as she followed her and Mo into the shower room. But, thankfully, the showers would take care of drenching her friends from head to toe this time, so she was no longer at fault of ruining Cactus' pretty hair. And she wouldn't be responsible for dampening Ella's nice locks, either, which was good.

The showers, though, were supposed to turn on by themselves, right? At least that was what she had thought. "Maybe Cactus isn't under it far enough?" she guessed. Alice set her umbrella down on the floor, bending precariously into the cubicle, attempting to keep out of the shower head's way. Her hands carefully pulled him over to the side a bit and the water began spurting at him and his bunny umbrella as soon as she had ducked out of its path.

Now they just had to see if that Titus replica could hold up under liquid, yeah?

So Mo was just... standing in entirely the wrong place? Was that why his shower wasn't working properly? He let himself be repositioned by Alice, pulling his 'I'm so stupid' face at her just as the showerhead sprung into action above him. Water poured from the spout, cascading across Titus-brella and onto the floor, where it disappeared down the drain. His feet were quite wet (but not his socks, thankfully), but the rest of him was dry.

"I'm dry... how does Titus look all wet?" He rather hoped the ears and tail were holding up well. Or at least weren't drifting down the drain. Mo studied his feet for any escaping fabric, only hoping out of the stream of water when he was sure the ears were intact. "It worked... Ella next?" Mo stepped out of the cubicle and shook off like a wet dog.

Ella smiled a little as she watched Mo test out his umbrella. It seemed to be holding up pretty well and that was good, yeah? Beam! "Well done." She said cheerfully, offering the boy a high-five. Y'know, for being successful and all that. "Yeah, I'm up next."

Grabbing her ice cream umbrella, the blonde opened it up and placed it over her head. Everything looked in order so with a small smile she stepped under the shower head, waiting for the water to come out. Blink. It was...working! Or at least... it was so far. And she could feel the water droplets hitting the umbrella and hear the pitter patter yet no water fell on her head. "It's working!" Grin! And she didn't even mind the small puddle around her feet because this was quite nice, getting something right. The blonde felt really accomplish.

Splash. Splash. Splash with her shoes.

After a few minutes Ella decided that her umbrella wasn't going to fail and she quickly stepped out of the path of the water, shaking it out. "Okay Hulk, you're up." And she smiled encouragingly, hoping her friend's umbrella worked as well.

"Titus still looks like the most dangerous, lethal rabbit in all of Hogwarts," she answered Mo as Ella stepped into the cubicle. It seemed as though her water-resistant ice cream umbrella held up just as well as Titus had. Was that her cue? Well, Alice wasn't going to bother taking HER shoes off, on account of her creation was so huge that they couldn't possibly become wet. Unless her umbrella failed, of course. But that was a kind of depressing thing to think about, so she would just not consider it at the moment.

After she had applauded Ella generously for her wonderful umbrella testing skills, the fourth year stepped under the shower head, positioning the lion-brella just above her. .. was she wet? She heard the water falling onto the umbrella and saw it drip down the sides of it, down the drain. But she didn't feel damp. NO. NO, she was NOT wet. That meant it had worked, right?! "I'm not wet. I'm not wet, right? I'm not wet." Her voice sounded surprised, as if she had suspected to be drenched the moment the water came. But she was NOT. Did anyone realize how huge of an accomplishment this was? Alice climbed out of the cubicle, bowing mockingly, and then proceeded to shake her umbrella off on the both of them.

Oh. Seemed like they hadn't managed to avoid the water after all, had they? "Are we done?"

Alex had...well, honestly, fallen asleep in class when they'd done this whole umbrella thing. Why would he ever need to transfigure one when he could just charm his pocket to hold an umbrella? Pointless.

Yet, watch THIS be their practical for NEWTs or something equally ridiculous.

He walked in and pulled out his wand and the umbrella he'd made in his dorm after practicing for a considerable amount of time. It was green with tiny little Crups painted on it. He had been bored and unsure of how to decorate it and...well here was the result.

With her newly transfigured umbrella held at her side, Sierra entered the homework room. All she was meant to do now was test the umbrella she'd made. She'd checked it beforehand, too, meaning she'd opened it and felt around for any holes or soft spots. Basically, she'd checked to make sure there was nothing wrong with her umbrella that could leave her soaking wet. So far, it'd checked out just fine, but she hadn't exactly stood under any water yet either.

Time to find out for sure. She opened her umbrella to it's full width. She beamed at how it'd turned out. She thought it was the perfect representation of Slytherin house. At first, she had no idea where to go. Where was the water?! Then she saw a few others across the room and figured out she needed to stand underneath the showers to get the waterfall. She headed across the room and checked again to make sure her umbrella was wide open. It was, so she stepped in and quickly put the umbrella over her head. She waited and waited, but nothing ever got on her. Not any water, at least.

*GRIN*

West arrived at the Homework room with his awesome umbrella and he popped it open once he had got inside, trying to ignore thoughts of how it might be bad luck or something. Well he'd just have to make a luck rune for himself later. That'd cover it. So how did this shower thing work? He just got under it and it started? That sounded about right. West held the open umbrella above his head and stepped in, looking around to see if anyone else had an umbrella anything like his.

Nah.

His was awesome.

He moved into place and waited, half expecting to get wet and half hoping that his umbrella would again somehow fly up and hit start floating around by the ceiling. That was a conundrum. One to think about more later because now he could feel and hear the water sprinkling down on his umbrella and he looked up watching to see if it held up, and watching the drips follow the tines down and drip to the ground.

... he was still dry. AWESOME. And this was why it was awesome to be in Slytherin, because he had awesome older students around that helped him get good at things.

Okay, maybe Kat wasn't too late yet. She still had time to make her umbrella and test it and stuff. No rush, yeah? She could do it in time. The spell stuff wasn't that hard. Okaaaaaay maybe she did fail in making her second umbrella in the class because that was just because it turned into a cocktail umbrella. But hey, it was better than getting NOTHING. She was practicing it before heading here anyway. After all she did have her umbrella already, and it was good.

It didn't turn into a cocktail umbrella again, MIND YOU.

Now the only thing that she didn't want to try? The showers. If her umbrella bailed on her, she would get wet. Although it was okay with her, she didn't have extra clothes to wear if she got all draped in water. She chose to blame it on her umbrella if it failed, you know. Eyeing the shower for a short while, Kat reluctantly got in it. Good luck to her.

He was STILL dry. Miraculous or something? No, that was his mad Transfig skills showing. The only bits of him what were wet, were the bits that got dripped on if he had the umbrella angled wrong or whatever. Deciding he'd tested it enough he stepped out of the cubicle and eyed his umbrella. It WAS kind of awesome. He wasn't really an umbrella kind of person though so it probably didn't matter that it was likely gonna turn back to a shoelace one day. There was no way his spells were awesome enough to be that permanent yet.

But it hadn't flown away! That was a bonus. After that had happened in class he'd researched it and found things about a character in a Muggle story called Mary Poppins. So y'know it made sense to call the floating umbrella thing the Mary Poppins effect.

...

... but wouldn't THAT be cool? He made a mental note to ask the professor if that would be theoretically possible. That would be a cool use for his umbrella! For now though he was done so he closed it and shook it off, not worried about droplets going places since the room was dampish anyways. OKAY. DONE. He tossed a little fingerwagglewave at Kat on his way out. Now to go write the essay thing.

Sarah walked on with her yellow umbrella, actually using it as a walking stick of the men of Victorian times. It felt really cool to do that. She then entered the room and took it all in. There were too many showers in the room, Sarah decided. Reminded her eerily of the Gas chambers she read about in holocaust books... She shook off that scary feeling and walked over to a random one.

She was standing under A shower head checking how that thing turns on when suddenly the shower burst to life and began to wet her. She quickly put her umbrella over her head and listened. She loved the sound of the raindrops hammering away on the umbrella when she was underneath. There were no leaks thankfully and Sarah began to dance. "if all the raindrop were jelly drops and gum drops oh what a sight that will be,..." that was an awesome song and Sarah kind of wished it was true, she was sure Alexa would agree with her on that as well.

After some time of thinking (somehow being in the shower always made her get lost in thought - not that it was unfamiliar territory) she decided that her umbrella had officially pasted the test and got out from under the shower. The shower stopped abruptly. Sarah took off her umbrella and then cast tergeo on the puddle on the floor. She then took out her wand and put the hot air charm on herself. All done. She then picked up her bag and headed out the room. She had an essay to write.

With his bag and Slytherin-style umbrella in hand, Dylan entered the room that was set up with the tubs. The pride he felt from producing on the first try still showed on his face as he went to drop his stuff. Come on. FIRST TRY. The Slytherin felt pretty BOSS about it.

Looking around the room, he seen several of his housemates already there, getting their HOMEWORK on. Snakes were the best, if no one knew. Really...He was extremely proud to be one. Obviously...Just look at his umbrella. Total house pride going on for him...but what could he say? As a whole, they were a proud bunch.

"Does anyone want to douse me with water?" Dylan smirked at those in his immediate vicinity. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Spray water at the Captain and NOT get your face hexed off for it. "Any takers?" He continued to grin and smirk.

West just wagged his fingers at Kat. Uhm, okay? In return, Kat did the same as she watched her teammate go. Probably he was going to the essay. Speaking of that, Kat was going to have to do hers afterwards. After she got real wet and stuff, which she didn't really appreciate. No frizz on her hair, yo. Anyway... after she went inside the shower. Merhgehreg. If she gets wet, she'll get real paranoid.

The fifth year opened her umbrella and held it up. Ready for the shower, you know. She waited until she felt water fall onto her umbrella. MERLINWASSHEGOINGTOGETWETOHMYGOODNESS. Kat clinged to the handle of her umbrella and closed her eyes shut. Watch the hair. No frizzes will be entertained you know. Once it was over, Kat opened one eye. She was ALIVE... and not wet. Except for a few drops though, but that was okay. At least her hair remained untouched. The Slytherin beamed to herself and then went out the shower, shaking the excess water off of her umbrella. Meh, she survived. MEH.

Just before leaving though, someone wanted to get doused with water. Huh. Kat turned around. It was her captain, Dylan. Oh was that a shock? "There's a shower," she said. "Or would you rather let me do it?"

Smirk.

Removing his outer robe, Dylan set it over his bag and carefully stepped into the tub. Since it didn't seem like anyone wanted to test their luck, he'd have to do this the conventional way. With the shower head and stuff. Although, that didn't seem nearly as fun as someone else producing the water...



Oh, nevermind. There was Hudson.

"You know, it doesn't seem nearly as fun to do it by conventional means. Would you like to assist me?" Dylan may or may not have been making eyes at her...Not that he seen the harm in doing so. It was a completely innocent action. Usually...

Lifting his Snaky-umbrella up, he moved to click it open. BAM. It was absolutely beautiful...and he was STILL PROUD. Probably would be the rest of the day, in fact. Offering Kat some 'brow wiggle' action, he shrugged. "It's up to you."

GRIN.

So he wanted her assistance? Kat knew that.

Well her captain DID have a point. If you were to get doused off, having someone assist you would be good right? As to why Kat didn't think of it sooner, she didn't know. Maybe the only thing in her head that time was to get her homework finished, but now a teammate specifically her captain was in need of help (a bit) so she'd save that essay for later. Her excuse? She still had time.

That brow wiggle though. "I guess I could manage a few minutes to assist you, Captain," Kat said and managed a wink. Mhm. He was Bee's ex, but she didn't... have plans. Dylan was still Kat's captain. Kat had her wand ready. "All set?" She didn't have to ask, cos it looked obvious. Dylan was all set for it all.

Ahem. "Aguamenti," Kat casted the spell, directing it on top of Dylan's umbrella. Now whether he did or did not get wet with water, well that was up to his umbrella. He can't possibly blame his Keeper and hex her, because then nobody would watch those hoops for him. She was that important.

So how was he doing in there?
