Bishop puts the quaffle back into play to teammate Yarborough, who is immediately slammed into by a determined Cambridge - Yarborough fumbles the ball for a moment but quickly scoops it back up, knocking Cambridge hard in the side, then makes a quick pass to the side to Dixon - Dixon veers past a charging Goldman before passing to Wisteria, who nears the goal posts, aims, and shoots without fear... DING! The quaffle soars beautifully through the right hoop!

Greenwell saw it and darted directly at Skylar - Skylar wasn't dumb, and she ducked out of the way as swiftly as possible! The snitch took a sharp turn upward and Greenwell followed - soon enough, Summers had caught on, and took off after the pursuing Greenwell! The snitch took them on a dive - luckily, after Greenwell had ascended for the snitch originally, Summers was lower to the ground and was hot on its trail! Greenwell tried to make up the ground and leaned forward, gaining speed quickly on Summers as they flew directly at the ground, both with their hands outstretched - but Summers inched ahead just enough to clasp his hand right around the snitch! Hufflepuff now has two snitch grabs!

As soon as the snitch was re-released and the Seekers were allowed to pursue again, they spotted it once more!

An annoyed Keller puts the quaffle back into play to Goldman - she zips down the pitch, flying right above the stands, but Beaters Gunter and Potter chase after her with every intention of knocking the nearest bludger into her! Potter hangs back, but Gunter shoots forward and flies alongside Goldman, shouting taunts - suddenly, Alice Fischer and Selina Skylar appear to back up their Chaser - Skylar slams hard into Potter in the back and Fischer flies right at Gunter, grabs his hand, and CHOMPS down with her teeth! Gunter shouts in pain and, a bit dramatically, tumbles right into the stands a few feet below, taking Fischer with him, landing right in the lap of the Quidditch commentator! Meanwhile, Goldman manages to safetly rid herself of the quaffle - Cambridge takes possession and shoots forward, only to be pursued by Wisteria and Dixon - Cambridge is forced to lob the ball backward toward Edwards, who swerves around the Hufflepuff defenders, approaches the goal posts with Yarborough close on her tail... Edwards shoots... THWACK! Ella Bishop knocks the quaffle away from the hoops with a mighty sweep of her broomstick!

Greenwell and Summers both took off after it at once - unfortunately, the snitch led them on a chase along the perimeter of the pitch, around the nice wide arc, then suddenly down into the depths of the stadium - Greenwell, being the younger and smaller of the two, swerved around and under the various wooden posts with seemingly the slightest more ease than Summers - Greenwell gained on the snitch as the distance between Summers and the snitch did not seem to decrease! Suddenly, Greenwell let out a small shout as her billowing robe got snagged - it caught her up just long enough for Summers to make up ground and fly level with her once she was free! The snitch shot upward and the two Seekers followed, both with outstretched hands - Summers inched ahead, then Greenwell, then Summers again - both leaned forward, hands open wide - and, with a quick swoop of his hand, Summers had it! Summers caught Hufflepuff's third and final snitch of the game!

"Hufflepuff has caught their third snitch, bringing today's match against Gryffindor to an end - Hufflepuff wins, 220 to 90! What a wonderful game to both teams - please shake hands before exiting the pitch!" Professor James wiped at her forehead, more as a sign of exhaustion rather than wiping actual sweat. Boy oh boy had it been a good match! Then, just like before, James turned her gaze to the stands, identified the face that was Truebridge, and gave her friend a smile. Hufflepuff was still as powerful as ever!

Christmas was dissapointed that they lost the game after being so close as she got closer to the ground to land she toppled sideways and fell off her broom and landed on the ground out cold

Penelope...was torn. Not counting her Quidditch robes which might be a bit torn in the ends now after getting herself caught like that. She certainly hadn't paid attention to whether it had been ripped or not - her mind had only been on that snitch.

Which she failed to catch a third time.

And that was the thing. She had actually caught it twice, which she was completely thrilled about. It meant all of last term wasn't just a fluke or beginner's luck. She COULD do this. She actually could.

But she hadn't won.

And that was kinda conflicting. She was beyond thrilled that she had caught two and come so close - but at the same time, so close and failing to win...that was really disappointing. More than disappointing. It was terrible, and she wasn't happy about that.

So...she was somewhere in-between at the moment. Without an sort of expression on her face showing one emotion or another, she guided her broom down and landed easily. Her broom remained in her right hand as she walked over to where Christmas had fallen.

"Oi. You alright?" she asked, nudging the girl with her foot before kneeling down beside her. Was she even conscious or...?

You know, she didn't even like this sport that much, but she couldn't believe how stupid she was by giving so many passes to Kaiden.

True, he'd had the best position to shoot, but it also meant he was going to be the one scoring the most. That didn't work well with this second year Hogwartian. Not after she'd said she wanted to score more than he did.

He had talent, she couldn't deny that.

So, yeah, Alec had caught the final snitch, which meant the game was over and the team had another victory. But did Lottie feel like a winner? NO. Kaiden needed to miss the games so she could score mooooore.

And she was ready to start whining and whatnot, but that was NOT the cool thing to do. So, what did she do? She shook hands and pretended to smile nicely as she approached whoever was standing between her and the locker room.

Lottie wanted out of this robes ASAP. Kaiden should follow, because he also disliked yellow.

That was... not his best performance. And he knew that.

That was probably why, when he landed, Alec just sort of... lay down on the grass and stared up at the sky. He was exhausted, yeah, but more emotionally drained than actually physically exhausted. His grey-blue eyes just sort of... stared upwards while his heart continued to race a million miles a minute, as if he was still racing after that tiny winged ball.

Speaking of... Alec turned his head and looked down at his right hand. The small glint from the snitch in between his fingers made the boy smile slightly. It was sort of reassuring to see it there after that tricky start. As if he had finally accomplished something he was meant to do. And hopefully... just hopefully... he hadn't let anyone down. Especially not...

... yeah.

The fifteen year old shook his head and turned his gaze back up to the sky. If I lay here... if I just laaaaaaay here... would you lie wiiiiiith me and just forget the world?

Was that the best song for the moment?



And then there was a voice.

Alec blinked out of his daze and looked towards the side at two Quidditch lions. One was Penelope, he recognised her, but the other one... the other one he hadn't really met before. Not properly, anyways. And that other girl seemed to be just... lying there as well.

Maybe she was looking up at the clouds as well?

Shrugging, Alec got up and wandered over towards Penelope, thinking of ways in which he could say what he needed to without getting punched in the face. Because rumour had it that this girl could throw a good punch and he really didn't want to get in the middle of something like that. Not until he had tried nearly every ice cream flavour in the world.

... Nearly... because... who would want to eat troll bogey flavour? That even sounded disgusting!

"Erm... hey, Penelope?" he started, gripping onto the snitch and his broom a little tighter, "Erm... good game! I thought you played brilliantly and... yeah," Once he said this, he gave the girl a small smile and held out his hand. And really, she had caught two snitches and really put him through his paces. That was something to be proud of, right?

... Wait... "Erm... I'm sorry about shoving you before. I didn't... I mean... you're okay, right?" Because Treyen had said that you should never hurt a girl and that had become his number one rule and now... he had sort of broken that rule. So yeah... he was not happy about that.

Also... "Will she be okay?" he asked, frowning down at the girl lying on the ground.

BLINK.

People were missing. And it wasn't the type of missing where they had just wandered over to the kitchens to get some ice cream. This was the type of missing that... well... what if they got hurt? Or something had happened to them? FROWNY!FACE.

... He'd worry about that later...

And there was only one other member of his team on the pitch right now so... "Hey Lottie?" he said, jogging over to the girl with his broom and the snitch in his hand, "Well done on scoring!" GRIN. And she was probably the only person on the pitch that didn't... hate him or anything right now.

Oh. That was the whistle. The game was over.

Jake looked around, his eyes finding Professor James as she announced that Hufflepuff had one. Gryffindor had lost. He had lost.

He waited for the usual surge of anger, but it didn't come. That surprised him. Jake wasn't a good loser. There was no use trying to deny it, it was true. He hated losing. Sure, he was disappointed... but that was as far as the negative emotions went. He knew his team had played a good game. He'd failed miserably...but the rest of them had been brilliant.

Maybe it had something to do with the Puffs, too. And the fact that Jake actually liked them. Really, he blamed Summers. That boy was too likable for his own good. It messed with Jake's head.

He made it to the ground slowly, trying to process his thoughts. He hopped off his broom, straightened up, and - "Oh." Ouch. He wrapped an arm around his stomach instantly, grimacing. Bludger. He'd practically forgotten about the bludger, what with his one save of the game right after...

Now that he remembered, though, it hurt. He slowly lowered himself onto the ground, laying back and staring up at the sky. Yeah. He'd just lay there for a few minutes and get his insides back to normal. Then he'd congratulate Hufflepuff. And his team. And... find Ali. Because he couldn't see her on the pitch.

Alyssa held her breath when she saw Alec dive down together with Penelope when they both spotted the Snitch at the same time. "Come on, Alec...come on....get that snitch." she whispered to him and almost fell off her broom in jubilation when she saw him catch it.

THEY HAD WON! Alyssa couldn't believe it. But there it was sitting in the palm of her Seeker's hands. The Snitch!! Alyssa quickly landed and ran towards Alec first hugging him, and then kissing his cheeks and then ruffling his hair. "Well done, Alec. You've done it again. I'm so proud of you, little bro." she congratulated him

Then Alyssa saw Kaiden who didn't seem to be happy that they had won. "Hey Kaiden. You were awesome out there. Why the long face?" Alyssa asked her younger team mate.

Then Alyssa noticed someone she had to go apologize to.



"Um...are you okay? I'm sorry that you got hurt by the bludger that I hit. I wasn't really aiming at you. I was just trying to protect my Chasers and help clear the way for them. By the way you're an awesome Keeper. Your entire team was awesome. It was an honor playing against all of you today." Alyssa told the Gryffindor Keeper hoping that he didn't bear grudges.

Her eyes landed on Seeker!boy as he came over. "Alec," she said, a smile was set in place, a nice one. And the smile simply widened. Lottie scored twice, which meant...one more than last time, which was twice as much as Alec had scored, because it was with him she'd discussed the fact that she wanted to score more. More than Kaiden, but whatever.

"Thanks," sort of. "And...well done on winning!" HAHA. Yes, because she still believed that it was Alec the one who ends up winning at Quidditch.

Her words only made her look at the snitch he was holding...and...she bit her lip before allowing her eyes to fall on Alec's. "Can I keep it?" Like, can you give the snitch to Lottie as a gift? She DID score more than she did last timeee...

Blue eyes on the boy as she waited for an answer.

Penelope hadn't paid much attention to where Alec was after he'd caught the snitch. She didn't really want to look at him; it'd only remind her of her failure to catch it instead. But she still wasn't angry exactly, and even if she was, it wasn't at him.

She would face him eventually of course because Selina would probably try to force her to congratulate him or something if she didn't do it herself. Selina wouldn't succeed, but she'd try, and Penelope didn't want that. She could do it herself just fine if she wanted. And...oddly enough, some part of her did want to. Because it was a good game. She wasn't sure there had been a time like this before that she'd wanted to catch that snitch so bad or fought so hard for it. But still, she didn't want to face that yet. Right now she just wanted to focus on making sure her teammates were fine and weren't disappointed in her.

But yeah, that apparently wasn't gonna happen because Alec had now come over to her. Merlin. Sigh. Okay.

Penelope turned and stood back up when she heard him. And he was telling her "good game." Meh. He beat her to that too. She shook his hand though and nodded. "You too. You're a great Seeker." Hopefully she could be as great one day. Or greater.

Hm? Oh, he was apologizing for the shove? She'd forgotten about it, to be honest. "It's fine," she replied with a shrug. "That's all part of the game." So she was totally fine with it, especially since she was unhurt. Or at least she felt like she was. Maybe she'd be a little sore later, once the adrenaline wore off, but that'd be fine. She'd suffered much worse injuries before anyway. "I think I got you back anyway, so we're even." So he shouldn't feel bad about it or anything.

Christmas though? "Yeah, she'll probably be fine." She shrugged. "If she's hurt, I'm sure the Healer will fix her up just fine." So yeah, nothing to worry about. It was just Quidditch.

Jake hadn't moved, content with staring at the sky for a moment. Then his view of the sky was blocked by a Hufflepuff. He frowned, sitting up slowly as the girl started talking. And she had a lot to say. Jake didn't process all of it, to be honest...

He got the gist, though. It had been this girl's bludger. And he was a good keeper. "Yeah, I'm sure you Puffs think I was brilliant. I should play Keeper every game." That might have been bitterness in his tone. Maybe. A little. And the team was brilliant. That, he could agree with. "Ali's an incredible captain." From what he saw, the rest of the team had done great. And Penelope had caught two snitches.

He ran a slightly shaky hand through his hair before looking at the girl. "No hard feelings. It's Quidditch." So she didn't need to feel bad about hitting him with a bludger. Things like that happened.

Seeing a more familiar face, Jake leaned back on his hands and looked at Penelope as she nudged him. "Yeah, 'm fine. Just need a minute." He still wasn't going to stand up, though. He honestly felt slightly nauseous. And he didn't feel like throwing up.

"Hey," he said, nudging her foot with his leg. "You were great. I mean, from what I heard. Good job." A small smile spread across his lips. He was really proud of her. He was sure the whole team was.

BLINK.

Ella just sort of hovered in front of the posts when she heard the whistle. That...was it? They had won? ... They had won! Hufflepuff had come back from behind and won. This was just...GRIN! The blonde's eyes searched the field for a certain boy, wondering what he thought about all this. She knew he could do it. Knew it all along. Congratulations were in order, right?

And as the fifteen year old landed she wore a sheepish smile because she, Ella Bishop, had done really well this time around. She knew she wasn't nearly as good as the other players but she was extremely proud of herself for how she'd played today. It seemed that all the practicing had payed off, yeah? Would Sir Treyen and Max be proud too? She really hoped so. She'd have to write them about this soon. And she also wanted to talk to her Hulk because she'd probably be feeling a bit down which made Ella feel horrible. That was the trouble with playing against your friends, someone had to lose and someone had to win. It made her feel kind of torn about the happiness that wanted to burst from her right now.

"Congrats you guys!" She said as she approached a group of players that were congregated close together on the pitch. And as for the Lions that were around, the blonde smiled at them. "You all played really brilliantly. That was a really good match." Mhm, it was.

...And could they maybe get some ice cream to celebrate or something?

So someone else was lying on the ground as well.

Alec tilted his head and blinked at the figure. He knew the boy. Yeah. Definitely. The two had talked for a bit before the start of the game and now... he was just lying there. Staring up at the sky.

... Unless... he wasn't unconscious, right?

BLINK.

Alec rushed over because... you know... his newest friend person could be lying there in pain or unconscious. He didn't really know what he wanted to say to the guy when he reached him but he did find himself going..............

"STRAWBERRIES!"

Except... by the time he said that... Jake was already awake. Oops.

WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Before Alec knew what was going on, he was being hugged. Hugged or squished or... yeah. It was something along the lines of hugging and it was from a yellow clad person. Not knowing who it was, Alec just sort of hugged the person back because... well... a hug was a hug, yeah?

YEAH.

When the person pulled away, Alec managed to catch a brief glimpse of the girl's face right before the girl started kissing him on his cheeks. ... BLINK. A small grin spread across the fifteen year old's face as he looked up at the face of...

"Hey Lyss!" he said, grinning widely at the hair ruffle, "You played brilliantly as well!" He hadn't exactly been watching because of the mad hunt for the tiny golden ball but he was pretty sure that the girl had hit plenty of bludgers. "Thanks Lyss!" And then he reached over and gave her another hug.



Lottie smiling was a good sign. A really good sign. Because... he hardly ever saw her smiling. And maybe this was another sign that she'd be smiling more?

Hopefully.

"Anytime!" Because it was true, his statement. ... BLINK. "I... well it was a team effort, yeah?" Meaning that she had a little something to do with the winning part since she was part of the team. "So well done on winning as well." Nodnod.

Alec may have started growing a little paranoid about this whole Penelope punching him thing. Or was the right word 'scared'? ... Probably both, if such a thing was possible. But to the fifteen year old, he had a very good reason to be. Nodnod.

So when the girl shook his hand instead of sending a fist towards his face, Alec let out a sigh of relief and smiled some more. And to top it all off, she was actually complimenting him. That... was something. He was pretty sure that the only thing the two had talked about was... Tag. Tag and his girlfriend application. "I... thanks Penelope! You're a brilliant Seeker and... yeah. I bet Hu- Alice is really proud."

... Saying 'Alice' instead of 'Hulk' was... weird. Definitely.

AND. She wasn't angry about the shove. That made Alec smile some more at the Gryffindor Seeker. "I guess," he said, shrugging as well, "Yeah! Before you... made your second Snitch capture?" He did feel a sharp jab at the side before feeling down about being two down on Snitch captures. It was probably some sort of virus, now that he thought about it. Dylan had shoved him during the last match and he had shoved Penelope who had shoved him back. So... Dylan and Aidan were both going to shoved in the next matches?

That was a lot of shoving.

"Sure... yeah. Erm... I hope she gets better," he said, looking back at the girl on the ground for a brief second before looking back up at Penelope and smiling some more, "Erm... I'll just... leave you with your team then. Bye!" He took a couple of steps backwards, waved and turned around to face...



... the person who made him the happiest.

And the person he was happiest to see.

Alec waited until the girl said what she needed to to the members of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team before he stepped forwards and wrapped her up in a big super hug. The smile on his face turned into a big grin as he stood there hugging the blonde haired girl. He was just... really... happy.

And it didn't have anything to do with the win.

Letting go, he looked at Ells and said softly, "You were... really... really brilliant out there, Ells! And I... well... I mean..." He shook his head, grinned SUPER WIDELY and hugged the girl again. He also sort of wished he hadn't played just so he could see her play and see her saving all those goals. But from what he did see, he was incredibly proud of his girlfriend.

Team effort. Yeah, Alec was actually right about that. One could easily see that if you were a Chaser, mostly. And a Beater. The other two positions were a bit more individual, but they were still part of a team, right?

She decided Alec was right, and who could possibly tell him otherwise, eh? Especially when she was about to get a snitch. Because she IS getting that snitch, right Alec?

Lottie was ready to bat her eyelashes at Seeker!boy with Ella's permission, surely if he wasn't too sure about letting her keep that snitch.

BEAM. "I do!" she said, quickly, before he answered once and for all. ASDFGHJKLASDFGHJKL! SHE HAD A SNITCH! Which, didn't matter, right? It's not like she was a huge Quidditch fan or anything, but her star, Lemon, would appreciate this gift. "Thank you, Alec!" she was still beaming and holding the snitch with both her hands. Her broom quite forgotten on the ground.

Ha. He was funny. "I will!" BEAM.

And then she took the broom and pretty much ran to the locker room. Time to see Lemon!

Ella's eyes landed on Alec and her small smile turned into a HUGE grin. It was crazy really, how just the sight of that boy could light up her face like a Christmas tree. And hugs? She was totally okay with hugs. More than okay, actually. And so the small blonde wrapped her arms around the boy and and squeezed gently. "Hi!" Beam!

Alec!hugs really were the best type of hugs around.

The fifteen year old tried not to look too disappointed when he pulled away and she smiled up at him sheepishly, turning more and more red as he continued to talk. Brilliant? He thought she was brilliant? That was just... erm...well coming from him it meant a lot. "Thanks! Erm...Well I was okay but you...erm you, were the brilliant one out there. I'm um...really proud of you for not giving up." He should know that, yeah? And even more super hugs? BEAM! Ella was very happy about this.
