The bank of the Black Lake was definitely a different setting than the usual Divination Classroom high in the towers of Hogwarts Castle but that is where the rest of the lesson was to be held.
Professor Elwood walked over to the sandy and muddy soil and stood with her back to the water waiting for the trail of students to gather around her. The water was lapping near the heels of her sandal-ed feet.
OOC: Please post here at the Divination Lesson before having your character arrive at the Lake.

'I guess time will tell. First to make my print in the sand.' Alyssa grinned to herself. She walked away from the others until she found a spot that was free from tracks or anyone's footprints.
Then she lifted up her right foot and stomped down as hard as she good. She then gently lifted her foot up so as not to mess up her footprint.
SPOILER!!: Alyssa's footprint
Then she picked up a pebble and wrote her name on the sand next to her footprint.
This belongs to Alyssa Potter....do not step on my footprint!!
Then she went looking for somebody else's print to study.
Jory wandered around where the students and not long after he came across Alyssa's own. He looked around for her and saw she was was examining his own footprint. "Coincidence,'' he thought as he had just made up his mind to examine hers.
Notes in hand, the Puff began. The first thing he noticed was how deep her print was. He decided to start with the heel. That part seemed a tad bit deeper than the rest of her foot. He consulted the notes.
After scribbling down his findings, the boy studied the print again. Here, he determined the arch was long (and of course, deep). He wrote this down before turning his attention to the toes. Long and and spread out, he noticed. "Well, that's it,'' Jory thought as he now started to write down the conclusions.
Quote:
Toes:Long and Spread out:
Lyssa is more of a thoughtful and logical person Arch:Long and deep:
Lyssa lives in the moment and tries to be as active as possible in her surroundings by being aware of what is going on. Heel: Deeper than the other pat of foot:
Lyssa is very in tuned with her health. She obviously stays in shape by being involved in numerous sporting activities.
Jory re- read what he had written. Satisfied, he headed over to Alyssa.
Mika looked up when she heard a girl's voice near her asking if she needed a partner. YES YESYES! She did need a partner, her eyes widened with glee as she looked over to her and nodded excitedly. "Yes yeah I do need a partner! I'm Amelia Johanson but you can call me Mika!" She introduced herself with a big smile.
Looking over to Nina's footprint she scrunched up her nose in concentration and began to take notes. Toes, the toes looked normal, rounded, spread apart, mid-length not long or short.
SPOILER!!: notepad
Toes
The toes are spread out.
The toes are medium in length
The toes are round in shape
Arch
The arch is low
Heel
The heel is deep in the mud.
The heel has soft edges, not pointy or jabby.
She had no idea really what it all meant though but she hoped she had read it right. That was the most important part of it all!
Nina was suprised by the excitment of the girl "That's great" said the Slytherin "Nice nickname. I'm Nina" she smiled. "So...let me see your footprint" said while walking over to the spot where Mika's footprint were. Taking her notebook and quill out she wrote down her first thoughts
SPOILER!!: NOTES
Toes: are long, oval shaped, a bit separated from foot.
Arch: it's low, shallow.
Heel: very deep in mud
"Alright, notes done" Nina nodded at Mika "Let's see what all these means..." 'Cause she had no idea.
Post 3: Writing in parchment and giving it to owner of foot print
There's some good in this world and it's worth fighting for| LOTR|Whovian|Sherlock Fan
Now that Alyssa had written her findings and conclusions into her journal, the next thing for her to do was copy down what she had written onto a piece of parchment which she would give to Jory.
Finding a rock nearby, she went and sat on it. Pulling out a parchment paper and quill, Alyssa began writing what she had discovered about Jory onto it.
SPOILER!!: The Parchment
Once she was done, she got up, and went looking for Jory and when she found him, she handed over the parchment to him with a smile. "Here you go, Jory." Alyssa told him. "I hope that you like what I found out about your foot print and about you."

SPOILER!!: Bliss' foot, yo
Bliss looked down at her footprint. She hoped she got a nice person to read or look at her footprint or whatever, cos her feet were the coolest. They looked really long to her and the heel was imprinted quite deep, was it meant to be? BLINK. Maybe it actually meant something, but what if that someone was bad. 'If you have stupidly long feet, you're stupid.' Okay, she doubted it.

HEY. FOOTPRINT OVER HERE.
West went over and CLAIMED Bliss. Basically that was what happened when he went and stood in front of her.
... and he'd make a print right here for her to analyse for him, see how that worked?
"So you know, you could probably like, manipulate the result by smooshing your foot deeper, or squidging up your toes, or like, if there was a muddier, wetter patch over here compared to there and all that." Just thinking out loud.
"We're partners, okay?" Beam.
He smooshed his foot into the mud and then pulled it back, leaving behind a perfect westprint.
There.

Darker shadowing is deeper in the mud.
Not bad. She thought to herself. She smiled and got her parchment and went to someones else foot print after she wrote her name in the mud. Why did she even ask what to do about that.
"Hello." She smiled at the girl, " I'm Melody Sparks. Do you mind if I interpretate your foot print?"
Oh?
"Hai." She was planning to walk around for a bit asking but this worked just as well and required only a fraction of the effort. "I'm Alexa Cambridge." Because they were exchanging names and she was that polite.
Lex stepped to the side so the girl could get a better look at her foot print; that meant yes. "And I guess I'll read yours! It's over there right?" That's the direction the girl came from so it had to be somewhere around there. "You can get started, I'll just go find yours" And find it she did. The girl was smart enough to leave her name right next to it! Now didn't this just make so much easier?
She fixed her eyes on the footprint, trying to remember all the Professor had said. Let's see, it was something about print depth and something about toes....
She'd need her parchment and quill so she ran back to her bag, being careful not to smoosh anyone's footprints and returned with a chocolate covered parchment and a chocolate covered quill. Yeah...she figured that would happen when she threw them all in her bag like that...
Anywho, nothing she could do about that now, there was a footprint that needed reading.

"Hello Miss Castell." She smiled cheerfully and then followed her back to the rocky edge of the banks where she found some cat prints. Her question was a sound one and one she would readily expect from a curious Ravenclaw. "Excellent question dear and I would say that if you are ready for this, as a beginner I wouldn't expect it necessarily, but if you'd like, yes you can add the surroundings into your reading of the prints." So in this instance she could make note of the fact that the cat had been trying to elevate its self into the rocks which could stand for bettering itself, if she believed it had climbed them or that they were merely just hazards. She would be interested in seeing what way she took it.
Cheerful Elwood? Yeah, she can be really weird sometimes. As the woman followed her to where she found the paw prints, the Ravenclaw listened carefully at the Professor's answer to her question. Oh...? She was no good with these stuff. "I think I'll give it a shot?" She told her and eyed the prints again.
She was sticking with what she'd said earlier...that it seemed doubtful, quite confused too. Taking into consideration the surroundings, she noted the presence of rocks all over it...and that slope where the prints seemed to travel upwards. Hmm. So, she could deduce it into something like... "Maybe there'll be scruples on my journey, uhmm..." Beezus bit her lip, eyeing the prints more intently as she continued her interpretation. "..obstacles along the way, but then there might be still...hope? PSSH." What in the hell was she talking about?! "..Er. Yeah. Kind of...a good after all the...hindrances?" Eh. She didn't know.
.....
O_________o
WHAT? ...10 points? TEN POINTS?!
Beezus didn't even know what she was going to do. Ravenclaw lost ten points because of Aspen? Her jaw had dropped, she knew. It was still so early into the term and they already got demerits?! And her....she took no action to prevent it from happening. She felt like such a huge failure for letting it occur. She should've done something before Elwood's patience ran short. She should've approached Aspen and asked her politely to stop what she and him were doing granted they were in a class. But she didn't do anything! She didn't BLOODY do anything! That was it. She wasn't fit for the badge. She failed as a Prefect! Faaaaaailuuuuuuuure.

Trying to brush off the feeling of being a sore loser by telling herself they'd get those points back, the Prefect dragged her attention back to what was happening in the class.
Professor Elwood was instructing them to make a print in the mud. Not the sand? Okay, off to the muddy part of the bank then.

Deep heel..... longish? Not as long as his though, yes, his foot was totally bigger than hers. Low arch? Sorta. Medium. Sorta just looked like a foot to him. Toes weren't too long or too short and stubby. He wrote that stuff down.
"I'm rubbish at this." He decided after a moment. "Wouldn't the footprint be different if you were like, running or something? Or moving at all? And then, how could a certain thing about how it looks actually mean what it does if it looks different?"

Sarah found a good spot in the mud and put her foot down. Thankfully, no one had really paid attention to her toes which were long and skinny, so they looked a bit stretched. Was she heavy enough to make a decent foot print? She hoped so as she felt the coldness on her sole. She then stepped away - nice footprint. Should she leave a note saying whose footprint it was? She thought it would be a good idea. She reached into her satchel and took out the stick she always carried around (in case making coracles was neccessary) and she wrote her name in the sand adjacent. Now she needed to find a footprint to interpretate.

"I'm rubbish at this." He decided after a moment. "Wouldn't the footprint be different if you were like, running or something? Or moving at all? And then, how could a certain thing about how it looks actually mean what it does if it looks different?"
Bliss looked up at West and watched as he judged her foot. Was judge the right word for that?
"I doubt it," Bliss told him. He seemed to be good in all subjects. He always gave long and detailed answers and they were always right. So there was no way he could be rubbish at this. "Hmmm, yeah. It would be. Maybe...maybe you would look at it differently if it were like that?" Just a suggestion. Maybe there were different ways of reading the footprint of someone that was running and just walking. Divination was definitely a very precise subject.
The fourteen-year-old looked back at her previous notes on what each thing meant and compared them to West's foot features.
Okay. He had long toes, which meant that he was a thoughtful and logical person. That seemed right. Arch...that was...it was a high arch, so she could only see part of the imprint. Did that mean it was short? In which case, that meant that West is aloof and unaware of what goes on around him. HUH. Maybe? No? Lastly the heel, that was deep, so that meant that his health is in tune and well-rounded.
Right then.
Bliss scribbled she notes and passed them to West. "Here you go, they look...sort of right....maybe." She shrugged at him. They seemed random if you asked her. But at least she'd done the task. Now she'd just have to wait for her results.
SPOILER!!: westprint results
-Long toes: A thoughtful and logical person.
-High/Short Arch: Aloof and unaware of what goes on around them.
-Deep heel: Health is in tune and well-rounded.
It's over there right?" Anywho, nothing she could do about that now, there was a footprint that needed reading.
"Pleased to meet you." Melody smiled at the girl before she left. Melody then sat on the ground getting a closer look at Alexa's foot print. The first thing she did was make a quick sketch, mainly just an outline of the print. There where plenty of people wondering around. This would prevent someone to accidentally step on the print before she was done.
Melody then studied the foot print looked like long toes, a short arch and the whole thing was deep. She started to write.
SPOILER!!: Alexa's 'foot' notes
Starting with the toes. They appear to be longer. This indicates that Alexa Cambridge is a very kind, and thoughtful person. This also indicates that she possibly thinks logically. Next the arch. It appears to be in between short and high. This indicates Alexa is in between Aloof and unaware, and living in the moment and active in there surroundings. Knowing this and though observations to take into consideration my best guess is she is some what unaware, but she is living the moment. Last is the heel. The whole footprint is deep so with that in mind Alexa is VERY in tune with herself and is a VERY healthy well being.
Melody did her best to make sure her handwriting was neat since they where not her own notes. She also wanted to make sure her notes on the footprint were well described and told a story. Something that would be worth a good grade for both of them if it is handed in.thoughtful To Melody she considered being thoughtful was more than knowledge, but was a personally trait that meant being considerate of others. She did her best to point that out in her notes about Alexa's foot.

She looked at it for a minutes to make sure it was at least readable. Looked good to her. She shrugged to herself. So what was she meant to be doing now? Oh. Right. She needed to go find somebody else's footprint now. So on a footprint search she went.
Sarah finally came across a footprint whose was it? She examined it carefully - it was deep which meant they were healthy and well rounded. The arch area was average, which made them normal - which was great, Sarah was too aloof apparently. She did not know what made long toes, yet she thought they were long, which made the person very logical. Yet whose foot was this? She did not know. She looked more carefully at the footprint - perhaps they had left more identifying factors behind, things like hair or toe jam... there was no toe jam which meant that the person either washed their feet regulary or they at it themselves. Fustrated that her attempts had failed Sarah began writing out the prognosis:
Quote:
TOES-Long, shows that the owner of the footprint is logical
Arch-normal, shows that the subject is a good balance between aware and aloof.
Heel-Deep, shows a healthy, well rounded person
She looked for a stone and placed the letter under the stone and put it next to the footprint.now she was done

Looking up, she saw Kat and the she nodded. "Hi dazzler. Yeah, I have no partner yet. Do you want to work together?" Because she'd love to work with her friend...finish this task quickly and dash away to continue her self-loathing.
Of course, she'd like to work with Bee. It was good because 1) Bee was a longtime friend of hers; 2) She trusted her well enough for the activity; 3) Claws were smart. That was enough said; and 4) she didn't have a partner. Luck might've been her friend for now. "You bet."
So Kat nodded at her footprint which was just near Bee's. Erm... her foot wasn't that weird to look at right? Anyway, forget that. The fifth year then bent beside Bee's footprint and began to examine it. She kept checking her notes so as to make sure her interpretations were accurate.
Text Cut: Notes for reference
Toes
The longer, the more logical and thoughtful a person is. Arch AKA the middle
The shorter, the more unaware a person is when it comes to things happening around them. The longer, the opposite. Heel
The deeper, the more well-rounded your health is.
Bee's toes were... long. That meant she was logical... SMART. Yeah, totally a Ravenclaw. Maybe all Claws had long toes. Right, right. Moving on, she looked at the girl's foot's middle... also known as 'ze arch'. It was long so Bee must be aware of the events around unlike Kat is. She recorded that then examined the print of the heel. It was... shallow. BLINK. Did that mean her health wasn't so well-rounded and stuff? That was scary.
So her recordings were done. Yay. Wonder what Bee thought of hers?
Quote:
Toes: Long enough. It means you (yes, you, Bee) are logical. Arch: Long too. It means you're aware of the things happening around you. That is good, right? Heel: Shallow. That means... Your health isn't that well-rounded. I'm not sure if that's a bad thing or something.
Was Bee done?

And then she stared at the Gryffindor who screamed at Elwood. MERLIN. This was a housepoint-losing session.

"Okay everyone, if you've finished with the animal prints activity please come over here to listen to the instructions for the next and final activity. And if you haven't still come over here." she nodded, obviously she didn't want to have to repeat herself.
Right, so animal Ichnomancy--covered. "The next activity we are going to do is the reason why we are not wearing shoes. Human Ichnomancy is different than what we had just been doing because we will be doing readings on just one footprint." She stepped over to a particularly muddy spot on the bank, pressed her foot in it and after a few seconds, removed it to leave a perfect print of her foot.
"To read a person's foot print we go to similar rules to Palmistry. The toes represent the mind and higher self so the longer they are, which can be seen by how far the toes prints are from the rest of the foot, the more thoughtful and logical a person is." She moved her finger to point at the middle section of the foot. "The arch is for the person's day-to-day life and the conscious mind, which means if the arched section is short they are more aloof and unaware of what is going on around them and the opposite means they live in the moment and try to be as active in their surroundings as possible." And the last section was up next. "The heel, or back part of the foot represents primal instincts, health and basic drives of the subconscious. So the deeper your heel is in the mud the more in tune and well-rounded your health is."
Phew, it was a lot to talk about from just one little footprint in the mud. Hopefully they had all gotten it. "So what I want you to do is go make a print in the mud and then walk around to read one other person's. I then want you to write down on a piece of parchment what your intrepretation of them is based on the print and give it to them when you're finished."
OOC: I need you to post your character making the print and YOU making a drawing of it using either PhotoShop, paint or some other graphics making program (no found images, you must make it) and include it in your post so others can see. It doesn't have to be super good just big enough to see. If you have trouble showing how deep something is just write beside it if its deep or shallow. Next you need to make a post reading someone else's print and writing it up in a parchment. You can also give the parchment to the person in the same post if you'd like. So I expect 2-3 posts.
This will be the last activity before the lesson so you will have roughly 24 hours to finish. PM if you have questions.
Seeing that look from the Professor, Dylan carried about his business. The whole scene was over and done with. No need to EVIL eyeball him anymore, Professor Elwood...
Brow arches and such.
Several minutes later, the Slytherin was finishing up his animal tracks work, moving closer to the mob of people to hear what they'd be doing next. He was still wary of Aspen Odessa, though...
He was planning her demise...and would exact his revenge...

The silent was silent, but boy did Aspen Odessa give a HUGE, INNER, MEANINGFUL sigh to all of that.
First, the Professor levitated her off of Dylan. Just when Aspen was getting somewhere.... Not to mention, him WIGGLING and struggling under her? Haha had she gotten to him after all? The Professor was totally interrupting something that needed to be done.
Then, Professor Elwood started squawking those stupid adult questions that don't have real answers. Followed by a REALLY bothersome comment about role models. If Elwood had ANY sort of inner eye, she'd know that Aspen was taking Dylan's eye out 1. because HE was her little brother's role model and had been flirting with her in class and 2. the Professor had more or less instructed her to do so.
So why had she lost points?
And ONLY her?
Typical. So typical. Aspen had NOTHING to say in response, so she just sat where she was placed. She did get her wand out though, you know, to prepare for feet washing. Ahem. That was why, sure.
He was doing it again. He didn't even KNOW that answered every question with an invisible question mark at the end of his sentence.
It was SO annoying.
Aspen wasn't making any prints, lest she go NEAR Dylan. Instead, she just watched from the sidelines, her wand tapping into her opposite palm. Her eyes, for the most part, just followed Dylan around with visions of...
Since Aspen had time to kill before she had to clean feet, she used a stick to make some prints of her own. With the soft mud, it was pretty easy to draw lines and make a decent picture.
SPOILER!!: Ahem. Interpret this print by this human
The Slytherin kept an eye on the Ravenclaw...Not trusting it enough to take his eyes away. Not even for a second...
And he seen her drawing something...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
SPOILER!!: Selina Skylar

SO she stuck her foot in the mud and waited for her foot mark to stick or something. Wait, when she pulled her foot out of the mud would she smudge her actual foot mark and then it would be distorted? Would THAT then mean that whatever observations someone made would be skewed? So many questions.
Anyway, pushing all of that aside she threw her foot in the mud and wiggled her toes around a little so it would stick. She left it in there for a few minutes and waited for something to stay. While she waited she looked around at everyone else doing the same thing and she could not help but think that her feet and everyone elses were going to be AMAZINGLY exfoliated. It would be nice and soft like a baby's bum. Oh yeah.
Once she felt like her foot was nice and imprinted in the mud, she pulled her foot out carefully so that she did not disrupt the markings. Someone would need to read them and they had to be as ACCURATE as possible. So she pulled her foot out of the mud slowly and then, as soon as it was hovering above her nice markings, she yanked it away and jumped away from it so that no one could mess it up. Awesome.
Then she looked down at the print. Nice, Selina, nice. Now who wanted to read her foot print? She would read theirs. Anyone?
Carrying on with the next part of the lesson, Dylan grimaced, notebook and quill in hand. He was funny about this barefoot thing...Not toUgh mention the ground was cold.
Ugh, he just wouldn't think about this too much. He needed to get it done...There wasn't time to mentally complain and glare right now...Later. The Captain would save it for later...
Pulling his pants leg up, he pushed his foot into the sand, fighting the urge to wiggle his toes. It was rather difficult, too...but he managed. Pulling his foot back, Dylan eyed the print. NOW, he needed to draw this thing...Positioning his parchment notebook and quill in hand, he began to stretch...
SPOILER!!: Dylan's footprint
The Captain had managed a rather realistic print, not something that happened too often. To be honest, Dylan was a rather poor drawer...So, he was proud. Getting down to really view the his print, he jotted some notes beside the drawing, just to help whoever would be analyzing it.
Now...Who to work with...?
Spying the Head Girl, aka his best friend, the Slytherin wandered over, taking in the others working around while doing so...and STILL keeping an eye on the Ravvie!Odessa. SHE COULD NOT BE TRUSTED...
"Skylar, I'm going to look at your print."...which meant they were working together. She didn't seem to have a partner yet...and he needed one. So, yes.
Now...WHAT was he looking at?

Now...WHAT was he looking at?
The redhead just kept looking at her foot. Huh. Did it REALLY look like that? Her foot, of course, not the mud. Mud always looked like that- disgusting and gooey and such. Although, it was sort of like a free moisturizer. Didn't muggle idiots PAY to take baths in a tub of mud? They called it a spa... Or was that wrong? Eh, she never did really pay attention in muggle studies anyway. It was confusing and there was always food to be eaten there anyways.
Tilting her head to the left, she continued to just stare at her foot. Merlin, she had a tiny foot. Well, she had a tiny pretty much everything. But her small size did not mean that she could not kick whoever crossed her. She rather liked kicking anyway. But that had NOTHING to do with this assignment.
Speaking of kicking, her most frequent victim to kicking was suddenly at her side and spouting off that he was going to look at her print. Woah, woah, woah. Did she not have a say in this? Oh who was she kidding? It was Dylan. They were working together because they just were and also she had a hunch that he was over by her for protection from the older Odessa.
Shrugging at him, she said, "Sounds like a plan. Where's yours, Dyl?" Because she needed to look at his too. And then she had to assess his foot...
...weirdest assignment EVER. And that included flossing man eating plants teeth. Oh Bentley.

Who knew that characteristics were so alike. If Alyssa didn't know better, she would have thought Jory was her twin and not Cody. She laughed to herself with that thought in her mind.
"It's no problem,'' Jory responded cheerfully. "But thanks to you too.'' It was hard for him to find partners sometimes in classes and that was partially why he preferred to work alone. He read the parchment.
The badger looked up at Alyssa in surprise. "We have got everything in common,'' he said. "That's so cool!'' Who knew he had that much in common with his house mate. One would think they were related.
Minerva looked at the snake tracks and tried to figure it out. "Well the snake looks like it was going slow and steady here, but as it keeps going it looks like it either was chasing something or maybe being chased." She followed the print a little while. "Yes, it is pushed down harder here like it was moving faster."
Minerva tried to think of what that could mean. Well it depended on what the snake was actually doing really. If it was scared by something and running that could mean that Minerva could be afraid of something or maybe something was making her change. She had so many changes in her life, was there really going to be another one.
If the snake was chasing after something else, then it could mean that she had found a goal that she was going to go after. That maybe there was a light at the end of a tunnel that was causing problems. Looking back towards Professor Elwood she decided to ask. "Professor, this snake print. It looks like the snake was just going steady and then either got scared or was chasing something. I have maybe figured out that it could mean two different things depending on which it could be. Is there anyway of figuring out which it could be?"

She just felt a little off with this reading and in other terms felt more confident and she wasn't sure why. Thinking this could be a good reason she decided to ask.
A good question. "Well as interpreters of anything there's no way you can be 100% sure of what happened unless you were there when it did. I think you've done a very good job with what you have done though." It definitely wasn't as easy as some may have thought.
"Yes, that's also very common." Miss Wheatborn was a curious little Puff wasn't she? "It's very rare for someone to be good at everything they attempt. There are forms of Divination I am not even good at." They wouldn't be studying them for that exact reason.

Good, no retorts. With one last glance at her, the Divination Professor went off to check on the other students' progress. She noticed that Aspen was drawing in the sand but she wasn't jumping on people and was quiet...what more could she ask for really?

There short and simple for her to understand. Melody raised her hand while she put an imprint of her foot into the mud, "Professor, what if someone is thoughtful but more creative... as in thinks outside of the box than what is most logical? How would one be able to read what is right? ... oh how would we know who's footprint belongs to whom?" Make this difficult... why not.
"Very interesting question, dear and one that would come up." She looked at the print the girl was studying. "What I would say is if you think the toes are long enough to be considered to belong to a logical person if they are even close to being just medium length means they are creative, or if the toes are oddly shaped or sticking in different directions than usual." That would certainly be unique and creative.

She walked up to the Professor, "THIS CLASS IS IDIOTIC, HOW ON EARTH CAN ANIMAL REMAINS TELL THE FUTURE OF ANYTHING!!! AND DIVINATION ITSELF IS A JOKE EXCEPT FOR PERHAPS A FEW SEERS WHO HAVE A BLOOD LINE TO THAT NAME. THIS IS A WASTE OF MY TIME AND JUST ABOUT EVERYONE ELSES HERE!!! DIVINATION FOR THE MOST PART IS JUST STUPID!!!!!!!, Oichi did not care how the professor reacted. She wanted to say this and had wanted to for a really long time. DIvination classes used to just be fun stupid but this was stupid, stupid and she had just about had enough. She could not wait to see the professors reaction and was not scared of any detention that was sure to come from all this.
Callie had been about to start another round of checking up on the kids when a young Gryffindor approached her. She figured she just had a question about where to begin since she had noticed her standing off to the side before but she apparently didn't see what had just happened with the other students because she began to shout...at her.
Elwood was taken aback by the girl's audacity. Her face got redder and redder as the lion went on calling the subject she had devoted her entire life to stupid and a waste of time.
She said something about 'animal remains' which was odd because Callie didn't see any dead animals around, they were studying footprints, although she wasn't surprised by the girl's mistake she hadn't remembered her speaking up to answer a question or participating in the lesson until now.
Enough was enough, she had stayed as quiet and calm as possible until she couldn't any longer. "DETENTION!" Her shout was more shrill than when she had yelled at Aspen, that girl wasn't actually hurting anyone, this girl...she was personally attacking her as a Divination-enthusiast.
"You will NOT speak to me that way or about a subject that has been practiced and perfected by centuries of work, do you understand me? If you don't like it why did you attend my lesson today? It is an elective course Miss Paulidine. Now I would like for you to go back to the Castle immediately, you are no longer a part of this lesson and you will receive an owl about your punishment. I would suggest you think hard about attending my next lesson." Now, she wanted her out of her sight.
Breathing in deeply, Calista tried to compose herself for the other students. She felt like crying for having to yell at someone like that but she had basically called her a fake, right there in front of everyone, and that was NOT okay.
"Well, I attended it cause usually divination classes have been fun stupid in the past. This class is what I liked to call, stupid, stupid", Oichi responed to the professor and then without another word she left the ibosolic divinations class and headed back to the castle. The reaction of the professor had been priceless and so worth the detention she was gonna recieve for it.

Ethan stood behind her, watching as she completed the first step, and gave her a smile as she turned towards him. "Alright if I interpret your footprint? Then you can do mine.." Or at least he would try to.. this whole Ichnomancy still seemed a bit shady..
He crouched down a little and peered at the mark in the ground, trying to remember what Elwood said about interpreting. "Okay, your toes seem fairly close to the rest of your foot so I think that means you base decisions more on feeling than logic.." Which wasn't really a bad thing.. gut feelings were often accurate. He kept looking.. "Your heel seems rather deep, so I think that means you are very in-tune with your own physical and personal self." Or something like that.. he wasn't entirely sure. "And your arch seems kind of short so you like to spend time alone?" He wasn't sure that was really right. Minerva was quite social as far as he was concerned but maybe it meant that she desired more alone time? Small frown.. he hoped he wasn't crowding her..
Ethan jotted everything he said down on a piece of parchment and handed it to Minerva, giving her a sort of expectant look as he wondered what she thought of his interpretation. "Do you want to try to do mine?"
SPOILER!!: Ethan's notes on Minerva's footprint
Minerva Wheatborn
Toe proximity - close: emotion and feeling based
Heel - deep print: in-tune with physical and personal self
Arch - short: desires alone time
Minerva smiled as she saw Ethan come up behind her. Looking down at her footprint "It's not the best because the mud is cold and squishy. I think you were reading my mind on working together." smiling she was glad he had come over to her even though she wasn't feeling confident in her readings.
Watching over his shoulder as he read her footprint, Minerva smiled. He seemed really good at this. "Well that all sounds good, except the alone part." Min frowned a bit she actually hated being alone.
Smiling again she took the parchment "That was great Ethan. Now it's your turn to play in the mud." Stepping back Min gave him room to do his footprint.
