Divination Part 2 at the edge of the Lake Edge of the Lake The bank of the Black Lake was definitely a different setting than the usual Divination Classroom high in the towers of Hogwarts Castle but that is where the rest of the lesson was to be held. |
Christmas had just arrived at the edge of the lake and waited for the lesson to continue she was enjoying this already |
Couldn't be a better place for any lesson. Jory always found the Lake a relaxing place to be. He followed the students and the Professor edge of the Lake and waited for the lesson to continue. |
Alyssa followed Professor Elwood as she led them to the lake. Once she got there, stood on the sandy shore near her and waited for the rest of the class to catch up with them. |
YAY FOR FIELD TRIPS! Violet approached the Lake with the other students gathering over by Professor Elwood. She then flipped some of her hair out of her face and then stood waiting patiently for everybody else to file in. Violet then sighed still feeling a little breathless after their hike down the stairs from the Divination Tower..You would think that even walking down you'd be fine..Apparently not.. ..Anyways.. She looked at Professor Elwood waiting for her to continue on with the lesson, of course, after everyone finished arriving at the lake.. |
After a grueling trip to the lake, Theo took a halt on the driest patch of soil that he could find. No one told him it was muddy out... .... he was totally wearing the wrong shoes. And it was chilly, too. But at least his extra long hair was keeping his ears warm. That was all that was keeping him going really. Long hair saves ears. <3 |
Laura looked around she was so excited about this small field trip even if they weren't going out of Hogwarts, she thought it would be awesome if one day they had one that took them out of Hogwarts and into somewhere else, she really would love them and now she had to wait and see what was going on here and hopefully she would do great. |
Rowan immediately went to her favorite spot...by the lake. This was where she did much of her studying, drawing, and reading. What an ideal place for a lesson! |
Bliss had felt like skipping the whole time, but being the mature person she was, she'd decided against it. Plus it was much safer this way, you know. Not...not that she was danger-prone. Not at alllll......OHMY, it was cold. Chilly. It was chilly even, not THAT bad. After a short while, they all reached the lake and gathered around Professor Elwood by the lake. Bliss looked around, but from what she could see, there were only a few visible tracks and they were still quite faint. Not knowing when exactly Professor Elwood would start again, she decided against talking to people and instead just stood by Theodore and Laura. She was READYYYYYY. |
The trip down from the divination tower was only slightly easier then the journey up yet the interest and curiousity of what happened next helped. Finally they had reached the ground floor and headed out over the grounds to the lake...the Black Lake as she had learned. Following the professor and her fellow classmates, Ellura came to rest a short distance away from the blonde woman, quietly awaiting class to begin again. |
So... walking back down all those stairs was a lot easier than walking up it. Maybe they should have more classes down in the grounds? It would be easier. Nodnod. And the classroom they had sat in at first looked really... weird. Very different to all his other classes. ... But hey! The Lake! That was always an awesome place to sit! GRIN. The fourth year walked along, his grey-blue eyes searching along the ground for a decent spot to sit that was... near the Professor but... not too close. Because that would be weird and just... awkward, yeah? Especially since him and Elwood didn't really know each other. What if she got cross and O_O Shaking his head, Alec slowed down and stopped at a decent spot near the Professor and the other students. Right. They were going to do some Divination with footprints, yeah? |
The lake. Ella was more than happy to be outside but this particular spot on the grounds reminded her of Harvey and well...she didn't know how to feel about that subject at the moment. Anyways.... The blonde looked around and debated on where to stand for a moment or two before walking over to wait by Alec. She gave the boy a small smile before looking expectantly at Professor Elwood. Surely they'd be starting soon, yeah? |
Well it was muddy. Though the lesson, Kat knew, would be interesting, she didn't appreciate mud. Quidditch, well, let's just say that Kat didn't care if it was muddy during a Quidditch game. As long as she played, nothing is going to keep her down. But today wasn't a nice day to get muddy, no. Urgh. Kat took her steps slowly so as not get her shoes dirty. Or her socks. And it was near the lake. What if she fell in and the Giant Squid doesn't save her?! Yep, she was definitely overthinking. But the mud did make sense. It could copy the form of the prints. Ok cool. I guess. |
Leaving the Castle, Dylan trekked down to the lake...humming as he went. He seriously hoped his awesome mood held up...It was refreshing enjoying lessons and such. Of course, they did just start back. Hopefully his enthusiasm lasted. Reaching the lake, the Slytherin eyed those already there and smiled. ACTUALLY SMILED. Beams for everyone. Also, mud. Hmmmmm. |
Excellent way to start her first class. Nina arrived at the lake along with other students and waited for the whole class to come. The weather was perfect and it only made things better. She waited for the professor to tell them what they would be doing because she was eager to know. |
Bounding down towards the hill with the her navy robes trailing behind her, Eliza finally reached the edge of the lake where she stood next to Ella while waiting for the rest of the students to arrive. Maybe some fresh air is just what I need today. She took a deep breath and noted feeling more invigorated already, perhaps almost even excited. |
Yes. Here he was. People could start practicing some Westomancy now if they liked. He was willing to answer their questions. But in the meantime, West noted came to a stop sorta near Dylan, and examined the ground. Soooo.... footprints? He already had Odessa!thoughts and Odessa!questions. Was this professor PREPARED for them? |
As Belle arrived to the lake, she saw most of her other classmates here. Belle was wondering why they were at the black lake. She was curious to know what they were learning plus she loved having the wind and breeze blowing on her skin. She also loved the sunshine making her skin warm. Belle saw the professor and was waiting for more instructions. |
They were coming right? Calista had turned around and checked to be sure that the Giant Squid wasn't lurking nearby "Alright everyone, go ahead and set you things down over in the grass under that tree. You can take off your outer robes too if you'd like." Divination wasn't meant to be practiced when you were all wrapped up on layers of uncomfortable clothes. Layers of things like shawls and skirts were a different story, obviously. "And while you're over there go ahead and remove your shoes and socks." And when she said that the blonde walked over to the tree and removed her own sandals and returned back to her original spot, barefoot. *beam* After she gave the students time to follow her instructions she decided it was time to officially start. "The first part of Ichnomancy I want to talk about is the one that has to deal with animal prints." She pointed to a set of prints in the sand and gestured for them to take a look. "What kind of animal left these prints and can you tell me attribute or characteristics that are associated with that kind of animal." |
Ella smiled when Professor Elwood said they could remove their outer robes. It was kind of warm with the sunshine and she thought it'd be much more comfy without them weighing her down. Walking over to the tree, she placed her things neatly underneath, then removing her robes and neatly folding them. Oh and her shoes and socks, yeah? That meant they'd be making prints too? It sure seemed like it. ... Oh...animal prints. Ella really wished they could see elephant ones because she knew a lot about those! Well...the elephants and not really their prints. Instead she found herself staring at...bird prints? "Professor, those prints are from a bird I believe." Though she wasn't like a print expert so she couldn't be sure what kind. "Oh and erm...well they range in size and have feathers." That was...what she meant as far as attributes went, yeah? |
Laura looked at the Professor and smiled as she raised her hand. "I would have to say that they are duck prints aren't they?" Laura looked at the woman as she spoke she wasn't going to hold her breath on getting it right, even though she had been studying in the summer she wasn't very good at answering questions. |
Pheeew! She made it and was resting agaisnt a tree until the professor continued the lesson. Peyton eyed the mud though. Mmm. Well, at least they were taking their shoes off. She did as was told and came back to stand near they muddy area, but not in the mud yet. "They look like they belong to a bird," she said, raising her hand. "Maybe a chicken." That could be possible right? Because she didn't know about identifyif footprints by attributes. |
Alyssa listened as Professor Elwood told them to remove their shoes and socks. 'Super Cool!' Alyssa thought to herself as she walked over to the grass and removed her outer robes taking great care that she didn't accidentally pull out her shirt at the same time. Holding onto a branch of a tree, Alyssa used it to balance herself as she first took off her shoes and then her socks. Barefoot!! At last. Alyssa scrunched her toes in the sand before walking over to where the Professor stood. She looked down at prints on the sand. Three toed. She studied them carefully before she raised her hand. "Uh Professor. I believe that this is a foot print of a bird. Maybe a stork?" Alyssa was confused as to the question regarding the characteristics. Did the Professor want her to identify what a bird would look like? "Uh....bird have wings although not all can fly. They have feathers. They have beaks or bills but do not have teeth. They have two legs." |
Lake time!!! Lex tried her hardest to keep up with everyone that seemed just so much more eager than her to get to the lake. Before joining the others she dumped her bag on the ground closer to the grassy area and emptied the chocolate frogs into her hands once more. What? She'd need a snack while she pretended to learn. Her brain power didn't come cheap you know, it needed fuel, it needed SUGAR. Next, she kicked off her shoes and wiggled out of her socks; her hands were full, that's why. She walked into the others, loving the squishy feeling of the wet sand beneath her feet and got there in time to hear the Professor asking a question. Lex took a good look at the prints then scowled, just slightly disappointed. "I can tell you what didn't make them." Sigh. Maybe thinking the giant squid could walk on land was an odd idea afterall. "These weren't made by anything from the fish population," So no Mr. Squid, "And they aren't big enough for it to be something that's likely to eat any of us." Shame really... Then her attention turned to nibbling on one of her chocolate frogs again. |
Mika made her way to the edge of the lake. She didn't care if she got her shoes dirty - i mean, they were practicing the art of reading footprints. She had that inkling feeling that well, she'd have to take her shoes off anyhow. Still she tried not to stand in the wettest most ictastic spot she could find. It was only half as dry as Theo's spot and really luckily it was half as wet as the Professor's. When Professor Elwood gave the next set of instructions she quickly placed her things by the tree - including her outer robe and her shoes and socks. She was smart, she knew she'd have to take her shoes off eventually. "Professor that would be a certain kind of water fowl - a duck in this instance." |
