In the center of the largest room of the Library known as the 'Bookshelves,' a big mahogany pulpit has been put up for Board of Governors Secretary Ian Amoroso's use during the auction, since he is in charge. To the right of the pulpit, a long dark oak table with chairs has been put up for the use of certain esteemed guests and auction organizers like the Hogwarts Governors, Headmistress Truebridge, and School Librarian Leobald Kitridge, as well as few notable others. To the left of the pulpit, there is an average sized table where you, prior to the auction’s start, can browse the objects and items that will be up for grabs in the auction. On the floor, rows upon rows of chairs have been put up for the guests taking part in the auction to sit on. More will appear magically if there is a need.
Just inside the door, to the left, there is a big stack of paddles which everyone taking a part in the auction needs to grab or risk disqualification from bidding. The paddles are what you raise when you want to bid for an object, where your paddles number will be jotted down and later matched up with your name, bid, and prize.

Who runs the auction?
Board of Governors Secretary Ian Amoroso (Droo) is in charge.
Can anyone take part in the auction?
Anyone with a number pole can take part, regardless if they are 11 years old or 77 years old (and beyond!).
How do I place a bid?
There are two ways to place a bid on an object or person.
Option 1:
You sit in the auction audience and raise your paddle high enough to catch Amoroso's attention. He will note your bid by raising the price of the item.
Option 2:
You can’t take part in the auction on site at Hogwarts but would like to still place a bid on an object or specific person. You can do that via owl services, using a patronus or a two way mirror. Any outside bids will be taken and registered by the Board Treasurer Harold Lagerty.
What is the procedure when I want to bid for an object or person?
Mr. Amoroso will present the object or person being auctioned off with a brief description of the value of the item (or person). She will then open the bidding at a low amount so that everyone can join in and raise their paddle then as the bidding goes on. The more bids placed, the higher the price of the item. It is up to you if you keep bidding or not.
Example:
Auctioneer: "The bidding opens at one galleon. Do I have one galleon?" Bidder #7: "I bid one galleon." Auctioneer: "Two galleons, do I have two galleons?" Bidder #30: *Raises paddle* Auctioneer: "Very good. Three galleons, do I have three galleons?"
And so on and so forth until nobody wants to bid more money. The auctioneer will say something like, "Tiffany lamp for 40 galleons going once..." No one else bids, "going twice," still no bids, "going…SOLD to Bidder #37, the man in the red jacket."
Bidder #37's bid would then be recorded along with the price he bid and the item ticket number, and a new object or person will be presented. Bidding will start again.
Is there a maximum number of times I can bid for one object?
No, there is not. You can bid as many times as you want for an object as long as you have the funding to back your bids.

Is there a maximum amount of money I can spend in the whole auction?
No, of course not, but everyone bidding should of course have the funding to be able to pay for what they want, or Mr. Lagerty won’t release to you what you have bought at the end of the auction.
I won the bid for an object(s)/person(s)! How do I pay and get my object/reward?
After the whole auction is over you will need to seek out Mr Hops Lagerty to pay and to collect the object(s) you won. Mr. Lagerty will be near the front of the auction platform, so look for him there. If you have won a day with a person, then you will get contact information on that person so that you two can arrange when and where to meet.

Alyssa patted her father on the shoulder when he won the bid. "Does that mean I get to keep a pair or do both go to the fundraising gala?" she asked him as she glanced over at the next item that was being offered for bidding. She didn't need an orb...especially not after that one time she accidentally touched one three terms ago. She would give this a pass.
James smiled in triumph. Yeah agreed 250 galleons for two pairs of goggles was a lot to pay for, but he figured that the library could use the money. Looking down at his daughter, he winked. "I guess you're going to have to wait and see." Looking at the Quartz crystal orb that was the next item to be offered, James decided that he was going to sit this one out. There were still other items to bid on.

Andrew just raised his eyebrow at the bidding war for goggles. Seriously?! 250 galleons for two pairs of goggles? Eyeing the man for a moment with disgust, he patted Oliver on the shoulder. "That's just insane." He said; really there was nothing else to say about that. They went for like twenty-five times their value.
A crystal orb was next? He really had no need for that. Divination was a wasted art, in his mind.

Josephina tapped paddle number 17 on her thigh as she waited anxiously for something worth her galleons. She had her eye on a couple pieces of jewelry or perhaps the romantic getaway, but so far none of that had come up. Unless she missed it?

Walking into the auction room she looked at the paddles and went right for paddle number 32 and held it in her hand as she then proceeded to find a chair and sat down and looekd around and saw an item was up for bid. Raising her eyebrow at it she began to ponder whether she should bid or not. Could be a cute housewarming present for Shannon for his new home...hmm... Elektra still continued to think about this decision. Maybe she will sit this one out.

Erik released her hand after a gentle shake, and raised an eyebrow upon hearing who she was supposed to be. "So you're a trained assassin," he repeated, a mischievous twinkle in his blue eyes, "and your costume is....?" He was joking, of course. There was no way Ivy was a real assassin. Otherwise he'd know her better, wouldn't he?
"The dress suits you vell," Erik took in her look with a sweeping gaze and nodded approvingly, before looking toward the auction platform again. Great Odin, he'd missed the war on the goggles. Good. Those things weren't worth even a quarter of what they had gone for. He had no interest in buying that orb, either, so he kept paddle 007 on his lap.
The boy smirked, and gave a eyebrow raise of his own. What was that all about? Kaiden shrugged at her question, and pulled the hood of his cape down. “good I guess. And you Dorothy?”
Tuning back into the auction, he itched to raise his paddle once more, but suddenly, they went way to high for him. Seriously, 50 Galleons? That was like 500 dollars or something. Even if it was going to the school’s library, his parents would kill him for spending that kinda money when he could get them way cheaper elsewhere.
Dorothy? Really. He had a great deductions skills. Maybe it was the ribbons in her hair, the braids, the fact she had a stuffed dog...or the ruby slippers. Really. Great work captain obvious.
Really she was still sort of frowning at him for calling her Amelia. Why had he called her that. Other than it being her name.
But he was her friend. No need for formalities. As she sat there and heard what the goggles had sold for her eyes just bugged out and in shock her arm shot out smacking into Kaiden's chest. "Merlin that's ridiculous" she gasped as quietly as possible. "And er...sorry?" She muttered quietly and glanced at the floor.
What was with her? She was crazy. Smacking people wasn't cool.

Shane quickly made his way over to the table of paddles picking up paddle number 29. He wasnt quite sure why he chose that number maybe it was the first one he saw or the first one he could grab without being trampled by other bidders either way he had his paddle and he made his way over to the corner not far from a girl that was pleading with her father over the crystal ball being auctioned.
That was not the object Shane had his eye on. He in fact wanted the vial Felix Felicis. Liquid Luck could come in handy. But he kept his gaze on the girl for a few moments. She was in his year and he knew he had seen her before in classes and the great hall though he had never taken the time to say anything. But then again Shane normally didnt just openly speak to people. Most people might have even thought he didnt speak ever.

Her eyes redirected to those participated in the auction. If she wasn't waiting for something to be auctioned of, she probably would have left already. But there was an item she was waiting for. Hopefully people would stop being ridiculous and throwing their money out there like it didn't matter so Ivy could get it.

It'd be sooo cool to be lucky!" And do stuff with it. She hoped that didn't show in her expression or he wouldn't get it for her.

Xavier knew that look. His daughter was planning something, but...look at that cuteness. Peyton was his Achilles heel. He'd try and get it for her now and decide what to do with it later. There was no way he was going to let a thirteen year old who didn't like rules keep a potion with such power.

Sky raised paddle 50 waved it around "450 galleons" And waved it a bit more afterwords just to make sure she caught the guys attention. She didn't mind paying even though it was a potion. A kinda hard potion to make though. Plus she knew Nerida wanted it...
Nerida looked around as she heard 450 galleons...Whoever said that was crazy right? She looked over surprised to hear the voice matched her godmother...She looked up at Sky and smiled. Oh yeah her godmother loved her! It was for the good of the library after all...Who didn't love the library. Nerida did!!
