In the center of the largest room of the Library known as the 'Bookshelves,' a big mahogany pulpit has been put up for Board of Governors Secretary Ian Amoroso's use during the auction, since he is in charge. To the right of the pulpit, a long dark oak table with chairs has been put up for the use of certain esteemed guests and auction organizers like the Hogwarts Governors, Headmistress Truebridge, and School Librarian Leobald Kitridge, as well as few notable others. To the left of the pulpit, there is an average sized table where you, prior to the auction’s start, can browse the objects and items that will be up for grabs in the auction. On the floor, rows upon rows of chairs have been put up for the guests taking part in the auction to sit on. More will appear magically if there is a need.
Just inside the door, to the left, there is a big stack of paddles which everyone taking a part in the auction needs to grab or risk disqualification from bidding. The paddles are what you raise when you want to bid for an object, where your paddles number will be jotted down and later matched up with your name, bid, and prize.
Text Cut: Auction FAQ
Who runs the auction?
Board of Governors Secretary Ian Amoroso (Droo) is in charge.
Can anyone take part in the auction?
Anyone with a number pole can take part, regardless if they are 11 years old or 77 years old (and beyond!).
How do I place a bid?
There are two ways to place a bid on an object or person.
Option 1:
You sit in the auction audience and raise your paddle high enough to catch Amoroso's attention. He will note your bid by raising the price of the item.
Option 2:
You can’t take part in the auction on site at Hogwarts but would like to still place a bid on an object or specific person. You can do that via owl services, using a patronus or a two way mirror. Any outside bids will be taken and registered by the Board Treasurer Harold Lagerty.
What is the procedure when I want to bid for an object or person?
Mr. Amoroso will present the object or person being auctioned off with a brief description of the value of the item (or person). She will then open the bidding at a low amount so that everyone can join in and raise their paddle then as the bidding goes on. The more bids placed, the higher the price of the item. It is up to you if you keep bidding or not.
Example:
Auctioneer: "The bidding opens at one galleon. Do I have one galleon?" Bidder #7: "I bid one galleon." Auctioneer: "Two galleons, do I have two galleons?" Bidder #30: *Raises paddle* Auctioneer: "Very good. Three galleons, do I have three galleons?"
And so on and so forth until nobody wants to bid more money. The auctioneer will say something like, "Tiffany lamp for 40 galleons going once..." No one else bids, "going twice," still no bids, "going…SOLD to Bidder #37, the man in the red jacket."
Bidder #37's bid would then be recorded along with the price he bid and the item ticket number, and a new object or person will be presented. Bidding will start again.
Is there a maximum number of times I can bid for one object?
No, there is not. You can bid as many times as you want for an object as long as you have the funding to back your bids.
PLEASE ONLY USE GALLEONS
Is there a maximum amount of money I can spend in the whole auction?
No, of course not, but everyone bidding should of course have the funding to be able to pay for what they want, or Mr. Lagerty won’t release to you what you have bought at the end of the auction.
I won the bid for an object(s)/person(s)! How do I pay and get my object/reward?
After the whole auction is over you will need to seek out Mr Hops Lagerty to pay and to collect the object(s) you won. Mr. Lagerty will be near the front of the auction platform, so look for him there. If you have won a day with a person, then you will get contact information on that person so that you two can arrange when and where to meet.

Alyssa quickly looks around when she heard her father's comment about the suit. She poked him in the side with her elbow.
"Shhhhh...Dad. My new Astronomy Professor wears one. I'm glad he didn't hear you say that. I do have to attend his classes. I can't afford to get poor grades from him.
Besides didn't that old British spy, James Bond wear one?" she whispered to her father.
James laugh was cut short when he got elbowed in his ribs. "Sorry Lyssie. I meant no insult....although why would he be wearing a suit of that quality in school. He does know that you bunch are a ruckus lot, right?"
Alyssa frowned at her father."Daaaaadd!!" Alyssa exclaimed. "I'll have you know that we are the most well behaved students ever...including those from Slytherin.
Now can we just sit and watch the auction. Hopefully someone will pay a good price for the suit."
Why in the name of Odin did that girl want a man's suit so badly? It was bizarre, simply bizarre. He wasn't sure he wanted her to have it.
"Ninety." Erik raised his paddle again.

"If I wanted to ask you out, Mr. Vinteren, I would. Don't doubt that." She wasn't some silly girl who beat around the bush with those types of things. "However, and unfortunately for you, I was merely curious about what you do for a living." She held her paddle in her lap and watched the next auction start. Oh look, another suit for Erik to add to his collection.
"Unfortunately for me?" Erik turned slightly in his seat to give Ivy his undivided attention. He was amused, and his smirk clearly said so. "So vould you say no if I asked you out?"
Maybe if she said yes, he would tell her what he did. Over drinks. But not here. Not now.

Charely merely looked at his son Wade's uninterested gaze at the next piece. The suit wasn't so bad looking.. Raising his paddle number 26, "Ninety-five."
Wade eye's glanced at his father's direction while not moving in his seat. Did he just... Ugh, it better not be for me. Sighing as he clutched his paddle number 16
Why were these people bidding on her suit? Selena liked that suit. It had stripes and she could share it with her crup... or her pygmy puff. It didn't matter who she shared it with but she wanted that suit. Selena riasd her paddle yet again.
"One hundred."
And that was as far as she may go. But that suit... so pretty.

As Andrew entered the bookshelf area, he looked around at first, before glancing for where he could get a paddle. Ah, number 45 would work. After selecting that one, he handed it over to his son and whispered; 'don't wave it around unless there's something worth it, got it?' He wasn't wasting his galleons on foolishness.
"I'm not ten, Dad." Ollie said, frowning, as he followed his father to the second row from the back. What was that on stage they were bidding now? A custom fitted suit? "You could use one of those." You know, for professional reasons.
"I have a suit, but that one is nice-looking," Andrew agreed thoughtfully. 95 galleons though? But charmed to fit the wearer, did he hear? Hmm. Grabbing his son's wrist that held paddle number 45, he raised it in the air. "105 galleons."

Warfield kept a watchful eye on all that was happening. The Jewelry that was being auctioned off. The first Professor, and now a suit. Oh! A suit and it seemed that Selena was bidding on it as well. He questioned why a girl would need a suit, and raised his paddle to bid on it. 106 Galleons please He didn't need the please, but hey. He liked to talk so...oh right! he raised his paddle #2 for the Auctioneer to see.

"Oh what the heck. 115 galleons." James called out raising his paddle 11 at the same time.
Alyssa turned to look at her father in surprise. "Wha...I just thought you said you wouldn't be caught wearing that suit. Why are bidding for it?" Alyssa whispered to her father trying to pull down the hand that held the paddle.
"Remember the money they get for the suit is going to a good cause. Alex or Sirius could use a good suit. If not we can auction it off again at the Save The Whales fundraising gala that's coming up in a couple of months." her father told her.
She had mentally called dibs on the suit so why were people still bidding on it? And it wad up more than a hundred galleons. Selena muttered to herself and thought about it a little more. Did she need this suit? Yes. But did she REALLY need the suit? Yes.
So Selena raised her paddle with the six and called out, "A hundred and fifteen." it was her suit.

Maybe if she said yes, he would tell her what he did. Over drinks. But not here. Not now.
Ivy found it incredibly amusing that Erik was battling for a suit with a teenage girl. But she kept that to herself.
She smirked again and returned his attention to his. "Yes." It WAS unfortunate for him. Because she was quite the catch. Pretty, smart, wealthy. What wasn't to like? Ivy continued smirking at his next question. "I don't know. Why don't you ask and find out?" Because that was the only way.

James raised his paddle 11 again and calmly called out,"125 galleons.". He absolutely loved a challenge.
Alyssa shook her head before sliding down lower in her chair and hiding her face in the the palms of her hands. Her dad was going to embarrass her. From the look on his face, he wasn't going to be backing out from this specific bidding war any time soon.
One hundred and twenty-five galleons, really, for what was likely a secondhand suit? Was there any real proof of its being charmed to fit the wearer?
Erik thought not. He put his paddle down with an aside mostly to himself. "I don't do stripes."

Andrew was flabbergasted. Because that was really the only way he could describe his feelings as the bidding continued between a young girl and a girl's father. What did a young girl want to pay SO much money for a suit for? Did she have a fiance or something and she wanted him to wear it for her wedding? But where was this said fiance? Stunned, he couldn't even find the words to raise the stakes anymore.
So Ollie did it for him, knowing how his father needed the suit.
"160 galleons," Ollie said, raising paddle 45 in the air.

Warfield no more! No more bidding, this man and his daughter rude, rude, rude, rude, rude! Did they not want to be met. Seeing as he didn't want to spend THAT MUCH on a suit. Warfield quietly forfeit and turned his full attention to the two behind him.
He just stared at the two of them, until they would notice that they were spoken to previously. He raised one eyebrow at the man! rude, rude, rude, rude.

James turned when he heard someone raise the bid to 160 galleons. Should he or shouldn't he? 'oh what the heck!' he raised his paddle...
...and Alyssa quickly pulled it down and covered her father's mouth with her hand. "No Dad. Let it go. It's okay to lose once in awhile." she smiled at him.
James looked at his daughter, sighed and then nodded. He would let this one go.

Charely remained quiet as he contemplated on bidding. They're just about to double my bid..and it was a nice suit..His brows furrowed in thought as the current bid went up and up.
Wade looked at his father's blank face. Did he really want that? Hmm.. Looking down at his paddle 16, he slowly began to raise it when his hand was brought back down before it could get high enough.
"Don't you worry Wade, there will be others to buy."Charely gently patted his hand down.

"I like that suit," he offered casually to his mother, and when he didn't respond, Mo plucked the paddle from her hands. "50 Galleons," he waved paddle 3.

"60 Galleons~" Selena called out, raising her paddle with the six on it. She wanted that suit. And if it didn't fit her... maybe it would fit her crup. Because whoever it was who said they wanted it for fifty galleons... yeah... no. Selena wanted it.
"60 galleons to the girl with paddle number 6." he said and then continued. "Who is bidding 65?"

"Seventy. Thank you Paddle 7!" and he continued. "Do I hear... 75!"
Selena narrowed her eyes as she looked around for the person who had bid higher than her. LE GASP. NO. It was her suit. If it wasn't hers, it would be her crups. Either way, Selena was getting. She raised her paddle again.
"Eighty."
Hmph. Her suit. Everyone else could back. off.

Emmaleigh headed over to the bookshelves where the auction was going on. She was a little disappointed to see that she had already missed some things, som expensive things, but luckily they were things she didn't actually have an interest in. Though, she'd have bided on Hadley because she was awesome. Grinning, she grabbed paddle 43, and found herself a seat
---------
Auction!! This sounded awesome. Kaiden had gone to a few with his parents before, but he'd never been able to participate in one. He looked over the available paddles before grabbing number 83. Seeing a familiar blonde, he plopped down beside her, "Hey" he said before seeing her name tag and chuckling. "Amelia" Looking up at the auctioneer platform when they goggles came up. Quickly raising his paddle, he said "10 Galleons"

"Agreed." Yes Erik had heard that. He had nothing else to say on the matter, other than that he didn't like losing...to teenagers...and look at that, a child and his father had won the suit. Good. They could share it.
Winning a date was much better to him anyway. "Excellent," he nodded, a tiny smirk escaping his lips. "Let's say 7 o'clock in vhe Leaky." To start with. "Friday?"

Milton thought he would go head over to the auction area to see if they were selling off anything cool and/or worthwhile. He picked up paddle 30 off the table just in case and took a seat off to the side. Ohh, just in time for some nice leather goggles. Perfect for quidditch, since his were old and smelled like sweat. Woohoo. Milton raised his paddle. "Me! I mean... 15 galleons!" That's what he was supposed to say, right?

Ivy smirked as well. It seemed that the Muggle Studies professor wasn't so special anymore. Ivy always got what she wanted... "Friday at the Leaky, seven o'clock. Sounds perfect." And she could learn all about this mysterious man... Or at least try to, depending on how mysterious he actually was.
"I forgot to ask..." she added, looking at his nice suit. "Who are you supposed to be?"

Perfect. Yes, that's what he was. Erik adjusted his bow tie smugly. "I'm looking forvard to it."
He ignored the going-ons of the auction for now in favour of talking. Did she really not recognize him...? Even the Muggle Studies professor had placed the suit.
"Bond," he held out his hand and paused. "James Bond."

After checking in, Benjy made his way down to where the auction itself was being held. Looking around for a seat, he heard a voice that he instantly recognized. Making his way over to her, he sat down directly behind her. He gave her shoulder a squeeze before turning his attention back to the auction at hand. He'd talk to her if she turned around to find out who it was.
Sky wasn't intrested in the goggles. So she kept her paddle down. She turned around as she felt a squeeze on her shoulder. "Hey Benjy." It was nice to see him here. Though she wished she looked cuter...
Nerida glanced over as she saw someone squeeze Sky... Who did this guy think he was...She turned to him and Sky, "Keep your hands off my godmother... I gots my eyes on you." She didn't know who this guy was but she was going to watch him... Looking up at the goggles...She liked the goggles. She raised her number 100 paddle and said 20 galleons.
