In the center of the largest room of the Library known as the 'Bookshelves,' a big mahogany pulpit has been put up for Board of Governors Secretary Ian Amoroso's use during the auction, since he is in charge. To the right of the pulpit, a long dark oak table with chairs has been put up for the use of certain esteemed guests and auction organizers like the Hogwarts Governors, Headmistress Truebridge, and School Librarian Leobald Kitridge, as well as few notable others. To the left of the pulpit, there is an average sized table where you, prior to the auction’s start, can browse the objects and items that will be up for grabs in the auction. On the floor, rows upon rows of chairs have been put up for the guests taking part in the auction to sit on. More will appear magically if there is a need.
Just inside the door, to the left, there is a big stack of paddles which everyone taking a part in the auction needs to grab or risk disqualification from bidding. The paddles are what you raise when you want to bid for an object, where your paddles number will be jotted down and later matched up with your name, bid, and prize.
Text Cut: Auction FAQ
Who runs the auction?
Board of Governors Secretary Ian Amoroso (Droo) is in charge.
Can anyone take part in the auction?
Anyone with a number pole can take part, regardless if they are 11 years old or 77 years old (and beyond!).
How do I place a bid?
There are two ways to place a bid on an object or person.
Option 1:
You sit in the auction audience and raise your paddle high enough to catch Amoroso's attention. He will note your bid by raising the price of the item.
Option 2:
You can’t take part in the auction on site at Hogwarts but would like to still place a bid on an object or specific person. You can do that via owl services, using a patronus or a two way mirror. Any outside bids will be taken and registered by the Board Treasurer Harold Lagerty.
What is the procedure when I want to bid for an object or person?
Mr. Amoroso will present the object or person being auctioned off with a brief description of the value of the item (or person). She will then open the bidding at a low amount so that everyone can join in and raise their paddle then as the bidding goes on. The more bids placed, the higher the price of the item. It is up to you if you keep bidding or not.
Example:
Auctioneer: "The bidding opens at one galleon. Do I have one galleon?" Bidder #7: "I bid one galleon." Auctioneer: "Two galleons, do I have two galleons?" Bidder #30: *Raises paddle* Auctioneer: "Very good. Three galleons, do I have three galleons?"
And so on and so forth until nobody wants to bid more money. The auctioneer will say something like, "Tiffany lamp for 40 galleons going once..." No one else bids, "going twice," still no bids, "going…SOLD to Bidder #37, the man in the red jacket."
Bidder #37's bid would then be recorded along with the price he bid and the item ticket number, and a new object or person will be presented. Bidding will start again.
Is there a maximum number of times I can bid for one object?
No, there is not. You can bid as many times as you want for an object as long as you have the funding to back your bids.
PLEASE ONLY USE GALLEONS
Is there a maximum amount of money I can spend in the whole auction?
No, of course not, but everyone bidding should of course have the funding to be able to pay for what they want, or Mr. Lagerty won’t release to you what you have bought at the end of the auction.
I won the bid for an object(s)/person(s)! How do I pay and get my object/reward?
After the whole auction is over you will need to seek out Mr Hops Lagerty to pay and to collect the object(s) you won. Mr. Lagerty will be near the front of the auction platform, so look for him there. If you have won a day with a person, then you will get contact information on that person so that you two can arrange when and where to meet.

At least not directly or out loud.
"Some people just don't like losing," he said with a smug grin. There. He had said it. No...go away or something and let him wallow in self pity.
No, wait...Seren was worth so much more than that. Actually, there was no price on her and he was just about to glance at her again when someone else was shouting his name.
Merlin, what now!?
Oh, Roxanne? Wait...HUH?!
"I don't," he said rather flatly as he gawked at the woman. "I hate history." Then he raised an eyebrow at her. "What about you?" Wasn't she sort of chasing after what's-his-face in the Ministry?
WAIT! This meant that his 115 galleons just now...OH SON OF A GARDEN GNOME!! Someone else bid!! Oh, good...the red head had and he flashed her an appreciative smile.
So what Roxanne had been thinking and hoping was true. That had been an accidental bid. Which meant that Aron was never going to live that one down. After all, it was pretty hilarious. And she just managed to turn her laugh into a cough. Barely. "I don't. I just wanted to see the A&C Head squirm." Mission accomplished. Althea now seemed to be alternating between glaring at and hitting the man in question with her paddle. Hehheh.
*ahem*
She turned her attention back to the auction just as the HOM professor was sold off to the highest bidder. Which wasn't her. Oh well. The next one up was the kilt wearing man from the opening feast. Now this she was moderately interested in. After all, he was good looking. Raising her paddle, she called out. "60 galleons."

"I believe that Professor Scabior is a better person to bid on than others in the room." She said to the man. Was he after Cece? Oh No... this wouldn't happen.
Awesome. Hecate seemed to be on board with her offer. "Perfect. When one of us wins," yes, she said 'when', because really, there was no way one of them wasn't going to win, "we can work out the details of who gets tomake him sufferspend time with him first."
There was nothing wrong with the company she keeps. "I rather prefer the company I keep Hecate," she said looking towards William with a smile.
Aww, Scabior wasn't a better person to bid on, he was just one that would be more fun to torture. "Don't listen to her William. I'd bid on you." If he was up for bids, and you know, there wasn't a kid already trying to bid on him.
Her attention was snapped away from William for a quick moment when...

Oh, did Cece hit a nerve with the man? Too bad. "Looks like you ARE my business now Scabior so go ahead, get use to me being around."
Turning back to William she had a huge smile on her face. "Can you believe I won? I now have a slave for a day." Deputy Head!Slave. That's what he would be known as from now on. Well to her anyway.

The auction was going wonderfully, exceptionally really!
Harold Lagerty, Board Treasurer, was sitting on the Auction Platform to the back and right of Ian Amaroso the Auctioneer, busily taking notes of all the people who won and items/people and what they had bet so that he could collect the right amounts at the end of the event.
He nodded, clearly impressed by the amount raised for the new Deputy Headmaster and looked at sea of bidders to see what was the next amount of gold donated.

She pushed paddle one into the air. "70 galleons!" she said.

Xylia fixed her attention on the auctioneer and pursed her lips in what appeared to be a sexy pout. But she wasn't here to bid on anything; she was here on business and the auctioneer was on the Board of Governors.
Time to distract the man.
She tilted her head coyly to one side and feigned interest in the bidding. Too bad she never picked up a paddle.

Alexander gave Ian a look that relayed the message: 'Watch it, Amoroso'. The man wouldn't allow Sierra's bid to go through, would he? Alexander listened to the bidding war with raised eyebrows. The other woman, the one old enough, better start bidding again.
Then finally, it was all over, just like that--in the blink of an eye. Alexander sat up straight and turned toward Hecate. He mumbled something that most others likely wouldn't be able to hear. "Fifty three galleons." For the librarian.
Where did this student get so much money anyways? She'd never given Tye more than 80 galleons to take to school and that was suppose to last him the entire term and she expected him to take home money to save as well. But meh.

It would have been best to hold his tongue until later, but Dash had never held back what he wanted to say to her before, and he wasn't going to now. "I don't see why you are so upset." Nope. He never did, when she was at her angriest.

Now if only William would get rid of that dragon suit, her night would be perfect.
A dry bark erupted from Dash's mouth. "For one day." He replied, as if the whole thing was a joke. The woman was idiotic. And calling him a slave? Dash just rolled his eyes. "Tillstorm you are ridicious. You paid 135 Galleons to what, torture me?" He raised a brow. "Or perhaps run errands?" Those were the reasons right? She seemed wicked enough for those to be her reasons. Teaming up with Hecate wasn't even a big deal, THe Head of House couldn't be as bad as the healer."The second I would have done if you asked polietly." Maybe. Naah he was lying. "And the first-" Well, Dash just smirked. "I'd like to think you are smarter than the first, but I never know with you."
No. She was an idiot who didn't realize the power he now held.
Good job Bunz.

Interesting...
She nudged Dash with her elbow, trying to bring his attention to it.
Receiving a nudge to his side Dash turned his attention over to Hecate. What? Oh. Eyes flickering over to where she was staring it took him only a second to catch on.
Had Sophia just bid on Leo?
"Birds of a feather flock together." That is two under trained annoyances. Cece should have raised her paddle as well!

"Dash." She said giving him a glare. "This is charity. Cece won you and for a generous amount. You WILL play along, or I'll get the Headmistress to make you. It's one day. Be a man and suck it up."
She looked back to the woman... Amoroso seemed to have closed the bidding rather abruptly... Birds of a Feather... indeed.
"It certainly is interesting..." She said.

"50 Galleons, from the man with the number 7 paddle." He said and waited... no one else? "Do I hear 51?" What? No one? It was getting late... and he wanted to talk to the fiery brunette. "Going once, going twice, SOLD for 50 galleons to the man with the number 7 paddle."
He banged his hand on the podium "This concludes this potion of the Auction, please put in your final bid on the silent auctions as we are closing them shortly. The Hogwarts Board of Governors thanks you for your generosity, as does the Headmistess."
Ian practically jumped off the podium and went to look for the brunette...

Alexander's eyebrows furrowed inward even more. "I don't understand why my teenage daughter needs to spend personal time with the Hogwarts groundskeeper anyway," he fussed. "With or without supervision. What business does she have wanting to hang out with him anyway? What's he to her?" He was just rambling. He didn't actually expect an answer to any of those questions.
"Sierra," he snapped, "find somebody to give your prize to." Not the broom. The groundskeeper. "...and find out if they'e interesting in book mentoring lessons while you're at." He was just in a foul mood.
Sierra sank down in her seat. Truth be told, she was less worried about having to give up her prize and more worried about the fact that her father was embarrassing her. Couldn't he just shut up about it and leave it alone? All she did in reply was stare forward and nod.

"Captain. Stop acting spoiled. I'm giving my mentoring sessions to Miss Edwards. And Sierra will have her day with the groundskeeper. You are just going to have to deal." She said glaring at her husband.
Ian Amoroso returned to the podium... this was it. The end of the night. "ALRIGHT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN." Ian said banging his gavel. "I have the winners of the silent auctions."
