In the center of the largest room of the Library known as the 'Bookshelves,' a big mahogany pulpit has been put up for Board of Governors Secretary Ian Amoroso's use during the auction, since he is in charge. To the right of the pulpit, a long dark oak table with chairs has been put up for the use of certain esteemed guests and auction organizers like the Hogwarts Governors, Headmistress Truebridge, and School Librarian Leobald Kitridge, as well as few notable others. To the left of the pulpit, there is an average sized table where you, prior to the auction’s start, can browse the objects and items that will be up for grabs in the auction. On the floor, rows upon rows of chairs have been put up for the guests taking part in the auction to sit on. More will appear magically if there is a need.
Just inside the door, to the left, there is a big stack of paddles which everyone taking a part in the auction needs to grab or risk disqualification from bidding. The paddles are what you raise when you want to bid for an object, where your paddles number will be jotted down and later matched up with your name, bid, and prize.

Who runs the auction?
Board of Governors Secretary Ian Amoroso (Droo) is in charge.
Can anyone take part in the auction?
Anyone with a number pole can take part, regardless if they are 11 years old or 77 years old (and beyond!).
How do I place a bid?
There are two ways to place a bid on an object or person.
Option 1:
You sit in the auction audience and raise your paddle high enough to catch Amoroso's attention. He will note your bid by raising the price of the item.
Option 2:
You can’t take part in the auction on site at Hogwarts but would like to still place a bid on an object or specific person. You can do that via owl services, using a patronus or a two way mirror. Any outside bids will be taken and registered by the Board Treasurer Harold Lagerty.
What is the procedure when I want to bid for an object or person?
Mr. Amoroso will present the object or person being auctioned off with a brief description of the value of the item (or person). She will then open the bidding at a low amount so that everyone can join in and raise their paddle then as the bidding goes on. The more bids placed, the higher the price of the item. It is up to you if you keep bidding or not.
Example:
Auctioneer: "The bidding opens at one galleon. Do I have one galleon?" Bidder #7: "I bid one galleon." Auctioneer: "Two galleons, do I have two galleons?" Bidder #30: *Raises paddle* Auctioneer: "Very good. Three galleons, do I have three galleons?"
And so on and so forth until nobody wants to bid more money. The auctioneer will say something like, "Tiffany lamp for 40 galleons going once..." No one else bids, "going twice," still no bids, "going…SOLD to Bidder #37, the man in the red jacket."
Bidder #37's bid would then be recorded along with the price he bid and the item ticket number, and a new object or person will be presented. Bidding will start again.
Is there a maximum number of times I can bid for one object?
No, there is not. You can bid as many times as you want for an object as long as you have the funding to back your bids.

Is there a maximum amount of money I can spend in the whole auction?
No, of course not, but everyone bidding should of course have the funding to be able to pay for what they want, or Mr. Lagerty won’t release to you what you have bought at the end of the auction.
I won the bid for an object(s)/person(s)! How do I pay and get my object/reward?
After the whole auction is over you will need to seek out Mr Hops Lagerty to pay and to collect the object(s) you won. Mr. Lagerty will be near the front of the auction platform, so look for him there. If you have won a day with a person, then you will get contact information on that person so that you two can arrange when and where to meet.

Scabior...that name sounded vaguely familiar and not just something Fina might have said in passing. Addison looked around to see who the person in question actually was and finally spotted him. THAT Scabior. And he was deputy headmaster as well as a professor. Perhaps he could have a bit of fun with him as the bidding went on. So just for some interest, the curse breaker raised his paddle once more.

Callie had been intrigued with auction and even more so when she had been asked if she wanted to auction herself off. Why not, it was for the Library after all.
The blonde had smiled and waved on Vanora and Fina as they went before her and giggled at the bidding war to the still unfamiliar Astronomy Professor who had eaten cat food at the Feast at the beginning of term. The next name to be called was her own by the Board member who was now giving her funny looks.

Althea's glare went to this man who bid on HER Dash. She did not at that moment, CARE that it was a good cause. Because this guy was NOW FORCING HER to bid, which would make Dash SMUG. And he didn't NEED any more reasons to be smug.

Seren offered the small crowd a small wave, smiling brightly. Her insides were squirming with excitement and.. something else, nervousness? Yeah.
She was certainly surprised, and taken aback as one of the BoG candidates placed a bid... on HER. But, it was all for the school, so they could all bid away. Mmmhhmm.
Look, she was even waving. How cute. Erik realized he also was smiling, even just a tiny bit, and quickly worked to return his face to its normal, neutral state.

Now that Callie didn't have to stand up on the platform any longer she wanted to go take a look at what else was for sale. The Divination Professor had saved up quite a bit of money now that she had been living at the school and was on her third year of teaching and she was ready to splurge.
She walked over to the paddle table and picked up the one marked '22'. She then headed over to the silent auction tables.

Turning around she went back to the auction platform area, grabbed her paddle 25 again and held it up just in time to hear Hecate bid. Slowly she lowered her paddle. Maybe she shouldn't bid against her friend. There had already been enough tension between them for one night.
Yeah right.
She wanted to make the man clean bedpans get to know the Deputy Headmaster better, and what better way to do it than spending some quality one on one time with him.
Raising her paddle high in the air she called out. "63 Galleons."
What?
She wasn't going to raise the bid any more than that right now. She didn't want the man to think she really wanted to spend her valuable time with him.

Oliver was surprised to say the least when he heard the auctioneer announce that he'd won the day with Seren Bentley. He looked to his father, pleased with himself, as he contemplated on whether his father or his uncle would appreciate the day more. Both of them were very outdoorsy type people, something that a Herbologist such as Seren would no doubt appreciate.

She looked down at Kyroh and managed to force a smile on her face. No big deal. It was fine. If he wasn't there though, probably she would have thrown her paddle by now.

Oh and now it was a full-on bidding war. A few adult bidders had joined in with him and Mr/ Scabior's significant other and they certainly seemed to know the woman, or else their banter was really....really interesting. And still the bidding was only jumping small amounts, including Miss 'No one gets him but me', who was clearly far from happy of how everything was going.
Should he...or shouldn't he? Oh who was he kidding...it was fun! Not to mention Addison had been given permission to spend in his parents and sister's place since they couldn't come help their alma mater. Paddle up. "70 Galleons."

Wasn't it enough that the man was your... significant other? Why would she want to bid on something she already had? Then again, why would she want him more than she already had him? If it wasn't for wanting to make the man do menial house elf type duties, Cece wouldn't be bidding in him. As it was though she wanted to watch the man squirm as he got his hands dirty.

Addison let his gaze pass along all the competators that were currently competing with him for the deputy headmaster. Most of them...well actually ALL of them were female which suddenly made him wonder if he was making this weird for him. Did he dare bid again? Would he had a war on his hands amongst the fairer gender if he did?
"91 galleons." He finally spoke, the cursebreaker figuring he would settle on the one galleon raise now that it was getting high. Besides...it was getting close to what he had spent on Fina.
