WHAAAAAAT!?

He couldn't JUST drop them, right? She'd agree if Milton was here, but he wasn't, so. Lottie still tried to search for something to hang on to, but unless she could hang on to a person...YES! That was it. She tried to get on top of someone, because...if gravity hits, then she fall on top. Awesome!

However, the Professor didn't make them fall like that. Boo. He still rocked, though.

Oh, lookit! He still had some more things to say. Lottie eyed both the rocks and suddenly understood why he wanted them to take one of each color. Wait...hydrogen, helium, powder. STAR!

STAR!?

Her eyes were wide with excitement. We definitely love you, Airey Flamsteed. And let's hope that Lottie's star will be as bright as she is. Smirk.

Before doing any tapping, the girl took off her protective gear and placed it in the respective place, then she took her bag and tapped, tapped the rocks. She was now in the possession of two star-shaped boxes that will allow her to make a star. That was pretty cool. And the boxes went immediately to her bag so she could write down everything else Airey was saying about spells. The spells they were going to be using very soon.

Wand aside, she started pronouncing the incantation to the spells given. There was one she found utterly problematic. Crescere Hydrogenenii. That wasn't so easy to say, okay? But she kept on saying it, mostly to herself, and quietly, so others weren't precisely listening. She still repeated them a little bit louder with the respective wand movement. Fingere Elementi, Dextrini Potitus, Cumugasalis, Deminugasalis, Crescere Hydro--gene--nii, Crescere Hydrogenenii,"[/b] got it.

She still practiced a bit more, eyes closed, of course, because then she'd be able to focus more on how each of the incantations were said.

West wouldn't have minded gripping charms on HIS hands, that'd be fun. Like that muggle superhero they learned about. The spider one. He could crawl all over things and stuff. BUT HEY if Flamsteed was losing Theo points for existing and whatnot, he was getting the West equivalent, which was more like fluff and odds and ends from pockets than any actual points, for there being SPELLS in the class. West was down for that. ALSO STARS. Making a star? Or something like a star. Down for stars. And also just actually DOWN because gravity? WASBACK! He had the forethought to at least get right side up so that he could land on his feet even if he wasn't close enough to the ground to have a completely easy landing. But West Odessa was like a CAT with reflexes and such.

So yeah. No bruises.

He went over and got his stuff from the box and then started copying down the spell instructions. He'd try them for SURE but first he wanted to make sure he had them written down since after all, it wouldn't be the first time he'd have to leave a class needing to work on it on his own time. He grabbed a jar while he was at it.



Okay now for the rest.

He was going to be the BEST star maker ever. He got his wand out and TAPPED the blue and then yellow 'meteors' and then very carefully packed all these goodies up in his bag.

Now to try out the wand movements yes? He wasn't gonna get kicked out YET right?

No more anti-gravity? But...but it was...and she was...and the stars...She was the star whisperer.

Once she was back on the ground she did a bit of sulking. The floating around thing was pretty cool and the falling stars too.The girl was so upset that she almost stopped listening to the Professor but of course she was a good student most times so she listened while staring at the little blue guy she had caught.

Oh? They'd be taking care of them???

COOOL!!

But...hold on...taking care of two...? Her hand flew up immediately. "Professor I only caught one star...does that mean I can't take care of two like everyone else?" She WANTED two if everyone else was having two...

Pout.

Peyton was still floating around in a little ball when Professor Airey announced time was up. And they were going back down.

Wait.

Did that mean they were just going to...fall. Drop. SPLAT?!

Peyton was looking for someone/thing to hold on to. She didn't like falling. The sensation of it. Yes, she's a Quidditch player and thank Merlin she hasn't fallen off her broom ever...except that one time long ago, when she had stolen borrowed her daddy's broom when she was seven years old, and...she ended up with several broken bones. She glanced around, spotting Professor Funners once more as he raised his wand and...they weren't falling! :3

She wobbled a little when her feet landed on the ground, other than that, Peyton decided that the only type of flying she liked was on a broom. This was cool, but it exhausted her and she was sure she had several bruises on her body.

After returning the borrowed gear and getting her stuff back, Peyton sat at her seat, setting the meteors on desk in front of her. She liked them. And she had names for them already. Gilly and Nilly. They were twins.

She glanced up to hear what Professor Airey was explaining now and...it was a lot. The third year just blinked at him as if he had grown an extra head. He was a talkative fellow, wasn't he? Still, Peyton followed his instructions and took her wand out, giving the rocks a tap.

*Blink, blink*

Where did her meteors go? She wanted them back! She didn't want these...oooh. They were going to make a star? Well. That was totally cool. She wrote down notes, sighing every time she thought Professor Airey was done speaking but then he continued again. She wanted food. BAD. Like, she could feel her body going bankrupt on energy.

Finishing up the last bit of notes and practicing the spells the professor had presented them with, Peyton stuffed her belongings into her bag and went to the front to retrieve a pickling jar. Oh, cute little thing. She then waved at the professor with a wide smile. "Thanks for the lesson, bye Professor Airey!" And then scampered off. Time to get re-energized...

Food, food, food.

Once she was familiar with the pronunciations of the incantations to each spells, Alyssa referred to her journal, as she took out her wand and practiced the wand movements.



'Okay for Fingere Elementi, the wand movement is just a jab. Easy enough.' Alyssa thought to herself as she practiced jabbing her wand.

'Okay now for the second spell, Dextrini Potitus. The wand movement is a jab
with a flick upwards to increase and flick downward to decrease.' Alyssa practiced that wand movement. With her wand, she jabbed and flicked it upwards and then jabbed and flicked it downwards. She practiced that a couple of times before moving on to the third and forth spell.

'Cumugasalis. wand movement: two flicks. Deminugasalis, two flicks.' Alyssa read her journal before practicing the wand movements. She flicked her wand twice. 'Does it matter whether I flick it upwards or downwards?' Alyssa thought to herself.

So she raised her hand and asked the Professor "Professor for the spell Cumugasalis and the Deminugasalis, the wand movement is two flicks. Does it matter whether it is an upward or downward flick?"

Sarah still had not recieved her glasses back when the professor told them that it was time to land again. Well. on the positive side at least she had to meteors. And they had stayed in her hand the whole entire time. for a few brief seconds her feet were rather jellylike yet soon they adjusted. Now she cast 'finite' to release the gripping charm. Now she had to unload herself of the burden of the protective gear. Maybe she should get some for home, that way she could be her own hyperactive self without being punched by her brothers... mind you it did not help as some were of age already. THankfully there were no injuries yet she stil never had her glasses.

Without her glasses Sarah had to move to the front to see what the professor was doing more clearly. Wait, those things were not real meteors as they were able to become those stars so easily. After all the care Sarah had done they were just star thingies in disguise.

The teacher began talking very fast and Sarah hastily whipped out her notebook in case she might need to take notes.Wait the professer was going way too fast so Sarah only managed a scrawl...
Thabkfully writing appeared up front... yet she had to squint to reaad it and copying it down required her nose to nearly touch the page UGH

Now she needed to practice the incantation before she left

It turned out the thing she had run into was indeed a person, and not just ANY person - but the professor! Eliza felt a shudder of embarrassment and fear of punishment ripple through her as they collided, but there was no time for apologetic looks or phrases. The impact sent them both reeling, him into another student, and herself across the room towards another wall.

Or so he was going to let them think. He wasn't cruel or insane like that - even if students were all wearing protective gear. With a flick of his wand, gravity returned to the room and the space-age floor returned to the planetarium's usual grey carpet lined with rows and rows of chairs. Waiting just a moment to let the weight, hehe get it?!, of the situation sink in, he gave another wave of his wand. "Aresto Momentum!"

There. Now no one was going to face plant into the floor or chair or anywhere.

Standing upright - and wheeling the wheelchair over to Mr. Clark - Airey turned his attention back to the class. "Well done all of you! If you will please take your two meteors and return to your seats there is just one more miiiiiiiiiinor detail we need to discuss before I dismiss you all." He gave the box beside him a quick kick to open it up. "Those of you who put your things in this box can please come and retrieve them and you can return your protective gear and gloves as well."

He paused a moment to allow students to do just that before continuing.

"By now you all have two meteors in your hand, so they look just like colored rocks. One yellow and one blue. With your wands please give them a small tap like so," he said while demonstrating on his own. Instanding the rocky cover vanished in a poof of yellow smoke (on the yellow meteor of course) and revealed a star shaped box labeled hydrogen. He did the same on the blue meteor, only this time a star shaped boxed labeled helium appeared. Grinning from ear to ear, he looked to the class. "You are going to need to keep and utilize these two boxes safe for your long term project. Do NOT open these boxes until I have instructed you to do so." Seriously. Don't. "Now, I know what some of you are probably thinking, how can gases be kept in boxes like this? Well, with some snazzy spell work these two gases have been turned into powder form."

Could any of them guess what this long term project was? Yes? No? If they had been paying attention to what he had said to Miss Potter earlier in the lesson perhaps they could put two and two together and make four.

"You will all be making and caring for your own stars this term," he BEAMED. "Today you have learned the difference between a meteoroid, meteor, and meteorite - along with some other things - and how a meteor is different from a star despite it being labeled as a shooting or falling star by those not in the know." Which they all were now, so they could say 'Oh! Look at that dazzling meteor!' instead of 'Oh! Look at that shooting star! "I will be opening up the astrophysics laboratory for you to accomplish this assignment, but before I do that there are several spells I would like you to practice before you leave. Just the incantations and wand movements for now. I will provide you with more details on these spells and what they do when I post your long term assignment on the Astronomy announcement board. You can practice the real thing in the laboratory." Because there was no way they could perform the spells now without the pickling jars that were beside him.

With another wave of his wand, Airey made several diagrams appear on the domed screen overhead. "The first spell you see is Fingere Elementi, and the wand movement is just a simple jab movement. This spell will convert your powdered hydrogen and helium into gases in your pickling jars, which I will give to you as you leave the planetarium. The helium & hydrogen will compress on their own inside the jar to make your star," he explained. "The second is Dextrini Potitus, is a spell which will control the temperature of the core of your star once it is in the jar. The wand movement is also a jab followed by an upward flick to increase the temperature and a downwards flick to decrease it." And another little demonstration for them all to look at. "The following two spells require two flicks of your wand and the incantations are Cumugasalis and Deminugasalis. Cumugasalis will increase the helium content of your star while Deminugasalis will decrease it. You may NOT simply add more of your powdered helium to the jar and expect it to work." Nope. Once it was in the jar there was no adding anything. Opening the jar would just ruin their project. "Finally, Crescere Hydrogenenii will increase the hydrogen content of your star. The wand movement is a tight circle drawn in the air followed by a jab. Circle movement on the Crescere and jab on Hydrogenenii."

Sorry kids, it was a lot to process at once but the sundial didn't lie - they were almost out of time.

"Practice these as much or as little as you wish here now and then come get yourself a pickling jar," he said with a nod towards the box. "Once you have your jar you are dismissed to enjoy the rest of your afternoon! Homework and more details on your long term assignment will be posted on the Sky News board later. Oh, and prefects, I will not be posting homework on your house boards, so make sure you do so, yes?"

Luckily Professor Airey announced the end of the zero gravity session and she could finally breathe a sigh of relief. But then she realized. Wait, nonononono! Is he just going to let us fa- she began to panic inside, but was cut off mid thought as the professor kindly stopped their motion and gently returned them to the ground. ll...Oh. I guess not. She gave him a thankful smile and walked over to retrieve her things from the storage box. One book bag tightly zipped and secured, just as she had left it.

She then moseyed over to the protective gear storage bin and removed the items she had borrowed. She felt a little cold once she took them off, as they had been a nice extra layer of heat retention for the duration of the lesson. She shivered once or twice and slowly pulled her hand from the glove. Her fingers weren't used to being confined in something like that for so long, so she gave them a little wiggle to help them feel less stiff.

She walked back to her seat and plopped down, exhausted from all of the floating and crashing, and listened to their next instructions. Tap on them? Will they disappear? she wondered suspiciously. She had really wanted to keep hers so she hoped that wouldn't be the case. She did as she was told and POOF, they each turned into the little star boxes.

What could we be doing with these? she pondered as she shook the star boxes lightly to hear what was inside. Then she could scarcely believe her hears. Not about the powder sound inside the boxes, but about the professor's statement. They were going to be making stars! Making them?! That's AMAZING!!! But how? Now at full attention, the little Ravenclaw furiously copied down the spells they needed to know for their assignment. She definitely wanted to do all of this 100% correctly, not just for full credit but c'mon - to make a perfect star! She went over some of the incantations inside of her head, but decided to leave the rest of the practice for later.

After pulling her book bag onto her shoulder, she approached the front of the room to get a pickling jar from the professor. "Professor Airey, thank you for the wonderful lesson. Making stars will be so much fun!" She began to turn away to leave, but really felt compelled to add another thing. "And I'm glad you're our teacher," she said with a semi-shy smile before she went out the door, eager to get a jump on all of her homework that would soon be due for her other classes.

As Belle successfully caught her two colored stars, Belle noticed the professor shouting out that he was going to turn on the gravity. Belle was not sure she was prepared for it. She was so used to be in the air. She braced herself.

Once the professor cast the spell, she felt the gravity turned on. Then she fell over a little bit to the right.

OOOFFFF!

She fell onto the floor. She got up and was red faced. She had to get her land legs back. Then the professor told them about spells to use. They were going to have a long term project O__O. That sounded so cool!

She loved the star boxes. Then she copied down the list of the spells to use.

After Belle copied down all the spells. She wanted to practice them. Belle had to remember them all. They seemed so complex! Fingere Elementi was the first spell...all it required was a jab. That sounded not so hard. Then Dextrini Potitus was used to control temperature in the box. Hmm sounded logical and reasonable. She would not leave the classroom without practicing the incantations.

Mika was a little nervous - her heart racing as she heard Professor Flamsteed talk about removing the anti-gravity of the room she was a little more than nervous. She just let out a little eep sound and finally calmed as their decent was stopped. Just in time for her to right herself and stand upright.

Few.

Aww Professor Fancyfeast was giving Mr.-candidate guy his wheelchair back! That was really sweet of him. Such a grand, grand gesture. She watched as Professor Flamsteed tapped his yellow meteor and gasped as she saw it seemed to transform into a star shaped box.

When he said to try it themselves she was almost too eager. Taking her wand in hand she tapped her blue meteor – immediately the rocky cover vanished in a poof of blue smoke and the star shaped box was revealed. She was so proud of herself. And again she did the same thing with the yellow one and BAM – Starbox!

So they had to take care of their stars. Oh she was going to sleep with hers, and pet it, and love it, and feed it…you know things people did with stars. She quickly wrote down all of the spells including their incantations and what they did on a piece of parchment. She was ready to begin.

So with a shaky hand she practiced jabbing her wand. Alright her jabbing as doing alright. Now her next movement she’d try was the jab-and-flick of the temperature spell. She of course tried both the upwards and downward flicking.

She was beginning to master them – but still jab – flick up. Jab flick down…she wanted to be the BEST at this and to be as good in astronomy as she had been in potions first year.

Selina's nose ached. So she hardly noticed when Flamstead returned gravity back to the room and she was back on the ground standing upright. All she kept doing was reaching her nose and checking to see if she were bleeding or not. Ugh, just her bloody luck. Well, at least it wasn't bad? She was used to it by now. It happened often enough.

The pain though was at least subsiding and becoming more bearable. And that was a plus, but she kept her head tipped back just in case. Didn't want to get any ickles...

And just when she thought the lesson was over... Well-dressed man kept talking. Oh bloody hell. Her nose was broken, sir! She had to attend to that and he was chatting them up like they were at Sunday brunch. He was a very good and attractive teacher but couldn't he have just posted this on the notice board?

THEY WERE MAKING WHAT NOW? Stars? That was SO cool! Merlin, Flamstead was getting cooler and cooler every second, but she did happen to sit up just at that moment, which did NOT make for happy Selina. Her nose decided to get all temperamental, so she threw her head back and tried to keep everything under control. Oh poop. Okay, she was good.

Keeping her head tipped back, she listened to all of his notes and beamed at the latin. She LOVED Latin.

And then he was talking about how they were going to make stars. REAL STARS! There were instructions and everything. Awkwardly leaning her head to the left she wrote down all of the notes with her nose still facing the ceiling. She did not need any mishaps happening. Once that was all written down, the notes, she took her wand and tapped both meteors and wouldn't you know it? They changed just like he said they would.

The redhead really did want to practice the spells, but she would do that on her own time. She had her nose to attend to, honestly. Besides, she had all of the notes, she'd be fine... she hoped. Yeah, she really hoped. So packing up her things with her nose still awkwardly looking up at the ceiling, she picked up one of the jars on the way out and waved to Professor Flamstead,
"EXCELLENT lesson sir," Until of course she broke her nose, "Enjoy your day."

And with that she was off to find SOMEONE to fix her nose.

Minerva landed on the floor a little harder then she would have liked, but not to bad that she would have gotten hurt. She looked around and frowned, what if she got into trouble for only catching one meteor and it was just a yellow one. She had so much trouble with the no gravity thing. Now she knew why she wasn't on the quidditch team.

Minerva walked over and placed the protective gear and the glove away. She headed back to her seat with her one star and listened as the professor talked about spells they were going to learn. Pulling out her wand, Minerva began to practice. Jabbing her wand, Minerva stated clearly "Fingere Elementi"

The timing was good, too, because it saved him having to get belligerent with the boy who was harassing Her Royal Highness, and it meant that Mo had two colored stones in his hands as the professor brought them back to the floor with the restoration of gravity. Mo gave the bossy boy a very grave look before turning his attention to his two stones.

Just tap them on top and they turned into boxes, right? But boxes he wasn't allowed to open, which was... a LOT of pressure for this particularly curious little Ravenclaw. He tapped the boxes and then immediately shoved them both deep into his pockets, giving him an oddly bulgy look.

Now he could go and enjoy the day and try NOT to think about opening those boxes. Except... not really. Now he could go and take a beating from the grumpy Astronomy professor. Too bad the guy hadn't had a run in with the wall a bit harder. It was hard to get yelled at by someone when they were unconscious.

Looking around the planetarium as some students got busy practicing their spells, Airey noticed a certain young man who needed to learn proper lint roller etiquette. "Mr. Branxton," he said, his voice firm but by no means angry. Quite the opposite really. He was curious as to the boy's decision as well as the potential result. "Theoretical or practical?"

And no, he was not talking about OWLs and NEWTs.

Ellura couldn't help it as she winched slightly when she put weight on them, reminded of the hit she took to her hip earlier in the class.
Now back on the ground she almost thought they were just going to be dismissed, but the professor had other ideas, introducing them to more information that was apparently pivotal to their assignment for all of term. Ellura watched as the meteors were changed into star-shaped boxes with a tap of the man's wand and repeated the gesture as directed on her own catches. To her amazement it happened just as expected despite not familiar with the magic that was involved in the transformation.

West wouldn't have minded gripping charms on HIS hands, that'd be fun. Like that muggle superhero they learned about. The spider one. He could crawl all over things and stuff. BUT HEY if Flamsteed was losing Theo points for existing and whatnot, he was getting the West equivalent, which was more like fluff and odds and ends from pockets than any actual points, for there being SPELLS in the class. West was down for that. ALSO STARS. Making a star? Or something like a star. Down for stars. And also just actually DOWN because gravity? WASBACK! He had the forethought to at least get right side up so that he could land on his feet even if he wasn't close enough to the ground to have a completely easy landing. But West Odessa was like a CAT with reflexes and such.

So yeah. No bruises.

He went over and got his stuff from the box and then started copying down the spell instructions. He'd try them for SURE but first he wanted to make sure he had them written down since after all, it wouldn't be the first time he'd have to leave a class needing to work on it on his own time. He grabbed a jar while he was at it.

Peyton was looking for someone/thing to hold on to. She didn't like falling. The sensation of it. After returning the borrowed gear and getting her stuff back, Peyton sat at her seat, setting the meteors on desk in front of her. She liked them. And she had names for them already. Gilly and Nilly. They were twins.

She glanced up to hear what Professor Airey was explaining now and...it was a lot. The third year just blinked at him as if he had grown an extra head. He was a talkative fellow, wasn't he? Still, Peyton followed his instructions and took her wand out, giving the rocks a tap.

*Blink, blink*

Where did her meteors go? She wanted them back! She didn't want these...oooh. They were going to make a star? Well. That was totally cool. She wrote down notes, sighing every time she thought Professor Airey was done speaking but then he continued again. She wanted food. BAD. Like, she could feel her body going bankrupt on energy.

Finishing up the last bit of notes and practicing the spells the professor had presented them with, Peyton stuffed her belongings into her bag and went to the front to retrieve a pickling jar. Oh, cute little thing. She then waved at the professor with a wide smile. "Thanks for the lesson, bye Professor Airey!" And then scampered off. Time to get re-energized...

Food, food, food.

After Belle copied down all the spells. She wanted to practice them. Belle had to remember them all. They seemed so complex! Fingere Elementi was the first spell...all it required was a jab. That sounded not so hard. Then Dextrini Potitus was used to control temperature in the box. Hmm sounded logical and reasonable. She would not leave the classroom without practicing the incantations.

Aww Professor Fancyfeast was giving Mr.-candidate guy his wheelchair back! That was really sweet of him. Such a grand, grand gesture. She watched as Professor Flamsteed tapped his yellow meteor and gasped as she saw it seemed to transform into a star shaped box.

When he said to try it themselves she was almost too eager. Taking her wand in hand she tapped her blue meteor – immediately the rocky cover vanished in a poof of blue smoke and the star shaped box was revealed. She was so proud of herself. And again she did the same thing with the yellow one and BAM – Starbox!

So they had to take care of their stars. Oh she was going to sleep with hers, and pet it, and love it, and feed it…you know things people did with stars. She quickly wrote down all of the spells including their incantations and what they did on a piece of parchment. She was ready to begin.

So with a shaky hand she practiced jabbing her wand. Alright her jabbing as doing alright. Now her next movement she’d try was the jab-and-flick of the temperature spell. She of course tried both the upwards and downward flicking.

She was beginning to master them – but still jab – flick up. Jab flick down…she wanted to be the BEST at this and to be as good in astronomy as she had been in potions first year.

Walking around a bit more to check on students, Airey paused in front of each of them to observe for just a moment before giving a nod of approval. "Everything alright here?" As in were there any questions or things that needed repeated? Wand movement demonstration again perhaps?

Alyssa watched as the Professor demonstrated. "Okay got it. Thanks Professor for clarifying that for me." Alyssa thanked the Professor before proceeding to practice the wand movements for the last two spells. Once she was familiar with all the incantations and wand movements that they would be required to use for the term homework, Alyssa picked up her two star shaped boxes, and packed them in her backpack along with her writing materials and her journal.

Slinging her back pack over her shoulder she walked over to where the pickle jars were and picked one up, placing that into her backpack as well. Then she turned to the Professor.

"Thank you for an interesting lesson. I'm looking forward to working on our term long homework." Alyssa told him before leaving the classroom.

Prepare herself...She would fall wouldn't she!! Or get hurt?? When he restored it right!!?? Just when she was sure the Professor was going to let them drop to the floor to their deaths! Professor Flamsteed said the magical words...And no one face planted...Yay for magic!!

Blue one, got it. "You have the helium then," he nodded. "You need both to make your star because both of these gases are what stars are made of," he reexplained since it seemed like this lion had missed the memo. Understandable seeing as there had been an awful lot of information given today - although he thought that all these students should be like sponges and just absorb everything.

Rubbing the back of his neck for a moment, Airey weighed his options. The entire point had been that students had actually caught and collected their materials on their own instead of just having them given to them...so he really couldn't just DO that now.

"I'll tell you what, Miss Cambridge. Help me with some set up in the astrophysics laboratory and I'll give you the yellow star box that contains your hydrogen." There she still had to work for it a little, so he wasn't just giving these things away.

"Thank you for attending, Miss Hudson," he replied with a quick two finger salute to the Slytherin as she made her way out of the planetarium.

Airey continued to make his way around the planetarium, offering further explanation and demonstrations to those that required them. After a few minutes, Airey checked his sundial once again and quickly shooed the remaining students out so that they would not be late to their next lesson.

Once all the students were gone, he banished all the boxes to his office and then made his way out of the planetarium himself. Time to administer a detention of sorts to Mr. Branxton. Heh.
