The first thing you notice as you enter the dimly lit planetarium is that the dome-shaped projection screen above you shows the night sky with the occasional comet slowly making its way from one side to the other. Try not to get too caught up in looking at the display, however, this is a lesson after all. Professor Flamsteed can be seen standing in front of the planetarium projector wearing a dark khaki colored suit and burgundy tie with a knowing smirk on his face as he waits for students to come filing in. To the right of him on the floor is a box of small pickling jars lined up in neat rows. So come on in, take a seat in one of the comfy chairs, and get yourself situated. The lesson will begin shortly.

My precious yellow meteor you are not going anywhere. Heh.
Now, where are you blue meteor? She swam looking for a blue one, she accidentally hit someone…SORRY…and continued swimming. People was fast and almost everyone was done with the task but Nina was taking her time…so relax. Then out of nowhere a meteor hit her on her left side and yes it DID hurt a lot. This was going to leave her a bruise that was for sure, she rubbed it a bit and continue swimming.
She sighed and instead of catching another one she tried some tricks. It was fun besides this was not something you could do everyday and again another meteor was coming her way, she was taken aback but managed to swam away and reach a wall. Nina knew she was supposed to catch it but after the last one she wasn’t willingly to get another bruise.
Still against the wall, the slytherin fixed her gloves and prepared to end this.

Minerva had just caught one, now what did she do with it. She looked around still not sure. Well she could just let it go, right? She wouldn't actually put it in her pocket like the song said... Then she heard a voice and smiled, "Let me see." She looked at Ethan's head, "Nope still just as perfect as ever." She grinned towards him. "This is really hard. I didn't think no gravity would be such a pain. I did get hit in the shoulder by one." She shrugged like it was no big deal. It hurt a bit, but hey she had been hit by many bludgers.
Smiling towards him she looked up again, okay now let's try for another meteor. Seeing a blue streak coming towards her Minerva moved the best she could, but felt her foot hit something looking she blushed, "Sorry Ethan, I didn't mean to kick you. This is just so hard." Looking up and stretching as far as she could the meteor skimmed the top of her glove, but no catch.
Ready…set…GO! The girl pushed away from the wall trying to reach for a meteor but didn’t had the chance. Hmmm. She continued trying and trying but nothing. Were meteors afraid of her? In any case it should be the other way around.
Oh well, she swam all the way down almost trying to touch the floor and then let herself float all the way up but stopping before she could reach the roof. Nina did the same thing a couple of times, but one meteor passed in front of her she looked at it and it was a blue one. She was not going to miss this chance.
The slytherin swam frenetically towards the meteor and when she was close enough she reached her hand AND….she caught it. SHE CAUGHT IT!

Alex watched his fellow classmates, some of whom were showing off, and tried to see what was working well for them. He couldn't tell if they were getting lucky or if they were using some sort of skill that he couldn't somehow master. Nevertheless, he turned in the air and tried to spot a nearby orb. He could do this if he just put his mind to it! Yes. He could.
He swam through the air towards a blue one that was flying slowly nearby. He positioned himself right in it's path, reached out his gloved hand and...SUCCESS! He caught it! He smiled and examined the tiny meteor in his glove. That really hadn't hurt THAT bad...but then again, he could see how it would bruise someone's palm. Youch.

Ellura chanced raising a hand to rub at the area on her opposite side where the meteor had hit. It still smarted but seemed to be slowly starting to disapate. Hopefully she wouldn't have another encounter like that any time soon. Ducking another that nearly swiped the top of her head, the third year was thankful that she had tied up her long hair before the lesson so it wasn't floating and blocking her view of stuff around her.
She really needed to focus on actually CATCHING the two she needed to. One blue...one gold as Professor Flamsteed had requested from each of them. Biting her lip, Ellura glanced around for any she could grab, finally spotting a gold meteor shooting several feet away. She moved or rather swam to go after it, having to stretch the last foot for two. But she was rewarded in feeling the pressure of the catch within the fabric of the glove as it hit her hand.

And enough fooling around. Spotting a blue ball shooting across the room, Sky debated on how she should follow it. Should she 'swim' like she'd seen some of her classmates do? Or should she just keep doing as she had been and moonwalk over? Deciding that moonwalking seemed more fun, she turned around and started that way. Once she had reached where she thought the ball would end up on it's track, she stuck out her gloved hand. Only to realize that she was a few inches to the left of it. Crap!

Belle was happy she got to collect the yellow meteor. Now it is was her time to catch the blue meteor. She was determined to get it. She had in her sights. She saw it across the room. Belle squinted her eyes just to make sure. She had her snitch seeking skills still active.
Belle then kicked off the wall and tried to grab for it. Her equipment was clanging and making noise. She hoped she would not scare it off. Belle was corkscrewing and doing flips over the students. This was so much fun but she did wish the gravity would turn on soon. Then she was almost there.
The blue meteor was twinkling in her eyes. It was dancing around her and taunting her. She had to catch it. She put her glove out and it was almost in her reach. She licked her lips in anticipation. Then she put the glove over it. She CAUGHT it! YIPPIE!
But then it escaped her grip. Perfect.....nice going belle......
Susan was kicking her legs and flaying her arms in order to get close to the yellow meteor as possible. Susan then all the sudden felt something hit her head..hard. Susan put her hand up to her head and winced when she felt the bump she would now have there for a day or two. A meteor must have hit her from behind with out her seeing it; or someone kicked her; with so many kids floating around she wasn't sure which.
Susan then set her focus back towards the yellow meteor, which was zooming back towards her. Actually it was coming towards her really fast, to protect her head from getting hit a second time in the matter of seconds she quickly lifted her hand with the borrowed baseball glove in front of her face. The meteor landed right inter her glove. "YES!" She got her first one...one down, one to go.
Ethan frowned slightly as Minerva checked over his hair. He really didn't want a chunk of it burned, but he smiled in relief when she said it was fine. "That's good.. thanks," he said with a slightly embarrassed chuckle. Not that he was so vain, but.. it was his hair.
He nodded at her words. This was hard.. a lot harder than it looked. "Yeah, I haven't been able to catch any.. I can hardly get coordinated enough to move around purposefully," he said with a chuckle. More like hapless air-swimming.. luckily he hadn't had bumped into anyone else yet. Oh and she got hurt? "Are you alright?" he asked, starting to put his hand on her arm and realizing he still had someone's glasses in his grasp. He looked down at the glasses in his hand the looked Minerva over. She seemed to be alright and he couldn't tell if she was favoring one shoulder over the other anyway.
The sixth year took a glance around in search of the owner as well as any close-by falling stars. Might be nice if he actually caught one as he was sure he was the only one in class by now who hadn't. Holding his glove out and trying to maneuver with the other hand, he started to head for some meteor paths when he felt something bump his leg. Turning, he saw it was Minerva again. "It's ok," he chuckled. "I'm having a hard time getting around myself." It was just luck that he hadn't done that himself yet. Glancing down at his hand, he looked back up at her. "Did you hear someone say they lost their glasses?" Ethan looked at the crowd of people and said a little louder, "ANYONE LOSE A PAIR OF GLASSES?"
He started to maneuver himself towards the others when he felt something hit his glove. He looked down and saw one the blue meteors inside and he closed the glove around it. "I got one!" he grinned back at Minerva. Total luck there.. but it counted, right?

...but, what did that mean? Sierra barely had a second to wonder this. After that second, she felt herself quickly being pulled off the ground and into the air. She wasn't nervous. She flew all the time. Granted it wasn't quite like this, but she still flew a lot--and higher than this, too. At first, she just sort of floated around, getting a feel for her new way of traveling around.
...but then it was time to get down to business. She watched the blue and yellow blurs zooming around the room. She secured the glove on her hand and started flying toward the, imagining they were a bludger or a quaffle. no, just a quaffle. She might smack it if she pictured it as a bludger.
Merlin, these things were harder to catch than she thought!

The next logical move, of course, would've been to wait until the next one came along. But Sky had decided that she wanted THAT ball. Call it wanting what you couldn't have or whatever. So, she caused after the escaped ball. Once she had finally caught up to it, she stuck her hand out and caught it. But what she hadn't noticed was how close to the wall she was.....
*SMACK!*
"Ow!" That had hurt! But at least she had kept her hold on the ball. Still, ow.

Susan was floating around looking for a blue one...she needed to get one and she could be done. She wasn't having very much fun floating around without gravity. Susan was noticing that other students were catching their blue and yellow streaks and there was become less and less of them. She needed to get a blue one fast before there wasn't anymore.
Susan then bumped into something pretty solid with her back. She realized she must be close to a wall. So she decided to use it to push off with her feet so she could fly towards a blue star. So Susan pushed off as hard as she could and realized she made a big mistake. Without the gravity she went too fast and couldn't control where she was going and hit the other side of the room wall. "Man that hurt" Susan shook her head and gave all the streaks an angry look, she was not happy about this.

The good news was that Sierra had finally gotten the hang of flying around without a broom. The bad news was that she still hadn't managed to catch a blasted meteor. The rocks were flying around so quickly that she only managed to see yellow and blue blurs passing across her line of vision.
*sigh*
She managed to catch sight of a yellow blur nearby, and she began to trail it. In the process, she collided with at least three other students. "Sorry," she said to one of them. "Sorry..." She added that last one to the other two she'd hit. She didn't even know if they could hear her, though.
She continued to trail the yellow blur and could even sense that she was getting closer and closer to it. She was almost there. If she could just reach out a little further...

Pulling herself away from the wall, Sky shook her head a bit to clear it. And then went to trying to spot a yellow ball. While trying to figure out a better way to go about catching it. Because obviously moonwalking was not where it was at, and neither was chasing. Maybe flips? But then she would get dizzy after awhile.....

If that helmet hadn't been slipped over her head, her face would have been bruised purple by now. "Following you around? If I remember correctly, you're the one who dragged me over here in the first place. And, apparently, you did it with only the intent of injuring me." He got a grin, too. He was funny, y'know. Cactus could probably work that to his advantage sometime.
It was probably useful having talents other than hitting stuff with a bat and biting things, yeah?
"Okay, your call." As long as he didn't drag her away from these stars, too, yeah? Jokes, of course. She didn't mind having catch another. It meant that she got to fly around with him some more, so it was okay. Alice managed to steer him toward the patch, and since his hand was still wrapped around hers, she was dragged over as well. And he seemed to have been right, too. There were dozens of blues bouncing around in a cluster, and they seemed pretty easy to snag, too.
Unless he was going to go the other way again, because that would just be counterproductive. "D'you want to choose a direction in which to reach in, and I'll go the same way? So neither of us misses another?"
"It was never my intention to hurt you, Your Highness. It just seem to be unusually talented at that," Mo offered with a grin, although now he felt kind of bad. Had he really been injuring her, or was she just joking? He gave her a flickering look of uncertainty before focusing once again on the task at hand. One hand, the one holding the yellow meteor, flapped at his side to keep him from spinning away from the oncoming shooting stars.
If he had to choose a direction, he'd choose forward, but that probably wasn't what Alice meant. Now part of his try-not-to-pull-Alice's-arm-off life philosophy, Mo was determined to be a bit more gentle and purposeful in his weightless flailing. For everyone's sake, really. "See those three right there?" He pointed up and to the right. "Let's try for those. I'll boost you, and then I'll catch up."
He let go of Alice's hand and made a cup out of his palms. "Put your foot here if you can."
Post #5 Got 'em! --And crashing into anyone who wants to claim :)
Her eyes flicked and trailed across the room as she did her best to rest on the wall. She'd been perched on it for a few minutes now, just waiting for some yellow meteors to come into reach. She felt that the lesson time must be dwindling down, so she knew she had better get a move on catching this darn thing.
Finally she'd grown tired of waiting. Ok, the next one that comes by - you go for it! Got it? Good. A little internal pep talk never hurt anyone, right? She flexed her fingers in her glove and wiggled her toes inside of her shoes to ready herself for her human torpedo experiment she was about to attempt. All the way across the room, she spotted a dazzling yellow hue coming her way. This is it! It came closer and closer, passing other meteors and students who were still spinning through the air. Closer still. Closerrrr... NOW!
She pushed as hard as she could against the wall and tried to aim her body towards the meteor, headfirst the way a skydiver would do to take aim of their descent. Only she wasn't descending - and she had no parachute to stop her, come to think of it. But it was all too little too late now, because she was rushing through the open room on a crash course with this yellow meteor. She kept her gloved hand open and outreached. This little rock had her name on it.
She was flying so fast through the room due to the force of her push, that she nearly missed the meteor completely. This time though, she did not close her eyes and she did not flinch. She held her hand right out there and she caught it! "Victorryyyyyyy!" she said excitedly. As she sailed through the room she stuffed the yellow meteor into her pocket next to her blue one she'd caught earlier. When she looked up from what she was doing, she realized she was still shooting uncontrollably across the room - and it looked like she was about to run into someone!
No! was all she could think before the impact came.
Truth be told, Lottie was slightly terrified of this. Only slightly, because she knew there were silly people around who'd mess this up. But she was still beaming and totally forgetting the point of this activity. It was fun to fly around.
Like...was this like orbiting felt like?! Yo, Airey! Remember our talk?
'Now class! Can you see how this lesson is also a great demonstration of Newton's first law of motion, the Law of Inertia?'

Airey just sort of continued to oh-so-casually continue to float around the room, letting whatever crashed into him to dictate where it was he would be coming since he really didn't need to be anywhere in particular.
And yes, he had essentially given up on performing that Gripping Charm on his shoes by this point. Although...he was going to need to get back to his sundial to check the time...

Flamz muttered some spell and the next thing Beezus knew, her hands had latched quickly unto something....something she didn't know and also didn't have the time to want to know as her lower extremities began to break away from the ground. "Holysnitch." she mumbled as she slowly went upside down.
MEEEEP! Meteor coming her way!
With a low squeal, she released her gripped from whatever it was she was holding unto as the meteor charged past her and then she began to float freely along with her peers.
...Come here, little debris of yellowness....or blueness....or either of you two... Come here.
Oh, yes. She flapped and flailed and kicked about as she reached with her gloved hand for those meteors. So far, no collision yet. That was good, no?
So...just keep swimming.....just keep swimming...

Back to flailing a bit until he was able to knock himself into a wall and propel himself towards the young Ravenclaw and Slytherin, Airey tried to put on his most stern of faces as he drifted by the two of them. "Miss Castell, Miss Sparks. The gear is built in a certain way for a reason," he scolded as he pointed to their EXPOSED faces. "Masks on so you don't damange those pretty faces of yours, please. And minus 5 points each to help you remember."
Although Miss Sparks seemed to already be getting a bruise from the one that had smacked into her cheek already. SEE?! He HAD warned them...

Maybe she could use that to help her go to the direction she wanted to go. Alright, good idea. She swam to a wall. Managed to turn herself around. Weeeeeeeeewoooo! She sped fast and hoped no one bumped in to her to throw her off her path. She put her glove hand out and then...
BOOM! She flew backwards being pushed by the yellow meteorite she had caught. Right into the wall. Ow! She sighed not stupid enough to try that one again. At lest she got one. She needed help getting this moving around thing pack. But she was still too prideful. She didn't want to ask for help. However, if asked she guess she would admit it just to get the blue one. For now she felt like not trying to get the blue one. She decided to float instead.
Hopefully they had been able to hear the tail end of what he had been saying...because he had sort of kept floating away - Newton's laws and all, couldn't be helped - and smacked into the other wall. He quickly ducked and contorted his body several times to avoid some of the blue and yellow meteors that were coming towards him, bouncing off the wall behind him instead of hitting him and ruining his suit.
When he noticed Miss Sparks struggling a little bit and kicked off the wall again, zooming towards her as a result. "You alright there, Miss Sparks?" he asked. "Do you need a bit of a push in the right direction?"

Alice was extremely cognizant of the fact that an expression of disbelief had crossed her face. How couldn't it? Aireyhead had taken POINTS. No. Her precious points. Did he not understand how hard she'd worked for those? How much time she'd put in finishing all that rubbish homework, time spent not napping in classes and everything?! And she had even been serious! She really did think there was a stain. Her chin wobbled dangerously before she recomposed her demeanor and opened her mouth.
In PROTEST, obviously.
"But SIR, I wasn't mocking the suit. How could I? The suit's impeccable." You couldn't jest about perfect things, could you? She managed to keep an earnest look on her face as she continued. "I really was being serious. I thought there was a stain, and that's why you were screaming. Honest. I think I could very well be a Seer, mhm, and I'm pretty sure I foreshadowed that stain." It was a good thing that Mo had captured her attention just then, or Alice would have gone into rubbish Divination explanations to get her POINTS back. "You're unusually talented at a lot of things, so I suppose I can let you off the hook." He didn't really think he'd hurt her, though, did he? It was just a wall. A couple of bruises didn't matter. There had been much worse in Quidditch and all, she supposed.
"Alright. Are you sure you don't want me to give you one?" Unless.. did height count for something or the other in this situation? Because he was taller.. did that mean he could boost himself up higher or something? She didn't know, but Alice supposed it didn't really matter. She still needed to catch those, and SOON, yeah? After she caught her star, of course.
And then she attempted to place her foot, yes, the one that was heavily laden with protective gear, in his hand. It went rather smoothly, y'know, after she narrowly avoided kicking him in the face. Heh. "You going to push me up or what, Cactus?" Grin. Now would be a good time, mhm.

Sierra kept stretching her arm toward that yellow blur of rock she was following. If only she could just fly a little faster, she could make it. She was now wearing her determined face. It was that same type of face she wore when she was in the middle of a heated Quidditch match. This face said she'd do whatever it took to get that bludger...er, meteor, even.
She opened her glove widely and gave one big thrust toward the meteor. She clamped down on it, hoping to enclose it in her glove. When it was all said and done, she was left to just stare at her glove. Was it in there?! It was...hmm. Yes, it was IN THERE!

And it didn't like either one of the girls had bones sticking out...Which was good right? They probably had more bruises then before they crashed. Though they hadn't gone flying like Professor Airey...So they couldn't have crashed super hard.
Nerida took her hand and again said thanks. She let go once she had straightened in the air..Space thing. She cast a smile over at Laura before asking "Are you okay too?" She looked okay...And she hoped she was okay...It would be horrid if she wasn't okay.
Peyton beamed at the meteor in her gloved hand. It was pretty and she wanted to keep it. Hmm, she wondered if they'd be able to. Come on, they should since it wasn't a walk in the park to catch them. Peyton pondered where to keep her meteor while she attempted for a yellow one. If she stuck it in her pockets chances were it'd float out or something. She didn't want to lose it. So, she'd keep it in her free hand.
Okay, now for the yellow meteor. Peyton "swam" higher and higher, her legs kicking at the air and hopefully at noone's face. Merlin. Couldn't these things slow a bit so she could go and pick the prettiest yellow meteor. Pfft. Well, it'd be no fun if the meteors moved as slow as snails.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
Peyton's head sort of bobbed at every hit. Daaaaaang! These things were crazy! The snake giggled to herself. Good thing she was wearing protective gear or she'd be left floating in the air all knocked out.
Going for another attempted, Peyton held her gloved hand out, and if she were stepping on solid ground, she been bouncing. Unfortunately, all she could do here is kick her legs, almost resembling a frog.
Sure she had caught all of her meteroids but that didn't mean she wasn't out of the danger zone. They were still there pelting her like little missiles of doom and destruction.
One pouty face later - and a flail of her arms she found herself being propelled backwards by her awkward flailing.
Oh pooooooooooooooooh.
This was not good. She wasn't in control she was going to run into someone and she just hoped it wasn't that old man - or the suit obsessed Professor.

Don't get her wrong, Peyton was enjoying the game. She loved being active rather than sitting down - except when reading Quidditch magazines - but she was getting tired. Actually, not really tired-tired, but she was a bit annoyed that she couldn't catch a yellow meteor. That and she was exhausted of looking like a frog that didn't know how to swim.
She wanted to go higher where there seemed to be a lot more rapid movement. Peyton kicked at the air once more, but this time her foot hit something. "Oops! Soooorry!" she said, not bothering to look back. That kick had given her some leverage and she wasn't about to waste it. Finally, she was close to the moving bunch of meteors. Peyton stuck her hand out again. She both heard and felt several thuds on her gloved hand.
Eeeeeeeeeeep!
She definitely caught something. Opening her gloved hand just a tad, Peyton saw a yellow glimmer. Oooh! Yes! In your face!!!
The redhead wiggled her bum in celebration. Wooot! She caught meteors and...
Thud. Thud. Thud. THUD.
The snake was pelted once again. She curled up in a small ball, holding her two meteors to her chest. It may seem like she was scared or maybe even trying to hide, but really, Peyton was grinning to herself and holding on tight to her meteors.
