Post 1 As soon as the gravity had been lifted off, Jory along with the others rose up into the air. "This is soooo cool!'' the excited boy said as he looked down and around him. Right, so as soon as he got over his excitement, he would have to catch two of the meteors with the baseball glove. The Puffer looked around for any nearby but there was none. He was so caught up in trying to find one, that he failed to notice he was drifting towards the left of the classroom until it was too late. BLAM! "That went well,'' he thought rubbing his shoulder and pushing himself off of the wall. |

Theo had all of his stuff on, but when the gravity was eventually lifted, he automatically curled up into a ball. No, no, no, this wasn't SCARY. He was a QUIDDITCH player, this wasn't allowed to be scary. But it so was. Theodore grabbed hold of a chair that remained stuck to the ground, and hauled himself behind it. Maybe if he stayed here for the rest of the lesson, he could float out at the end without anyone noticing his lack of rocks. Something told him that he wouldn't get away with that, so instead, he just deep breathed behind the chair. And for any spectators passing by, they'd probably think he was having a panic attack or something. |
Post 1 and mention of Theoman So they were meant to float...like right now...just float around and grab at those meteors? COOL! The blonde badger smiled excitedly, hurrying back to her chair and grabbing a hold of the back of it. BEAM! And then suddenly people were floating all around her and Ella's feet began to lift up off the floor, causing her to giggle. Meep! This was weird! Also weird, the fact that she saw Theoman looking quite frightened nearby. Blink. He was okay, yeah? The blonde wasn't sure how to handle the situation because she wanted to help but she also figured Theo might need some space from her right now for reasons. In the end she settled on giving him and encouraging smile and letting go of her chair to show him it wasn't so bad, the floating thing. Up...Up...UP she went, higher and higher. The badger sort of attempted to swim through the air, hoping that'd help her score the two meteors. Speaking of. THUMP. "Ouch." |
Post 2 Jory was getting used to the floating around thing now. All he had to do was avoid crashing into anyone and anything. Easier said than done as students were all over. The boy scanned the place, looking for a meteor. He turned his head toward the left and there was one now! Shooting towards him! He scooted out of the way a bit so that i won't collide with him. Stretching out his gloved hand, the boy took a guess of the path the meteor would take. "Think I got it!'' he thought. But- no. At that moment, Jory felt himself drifting towards the wall again and the meteor shot by. "Aw man! Missed it!'' |
Post #1 SPOILER!!: Professor Flamsteed Merlin! The baseball gear was taking him way back...Six years old...Little league. If his father could see him now... Removing his outer robe, Dylan started suiting up. There was a ton of padding...and if the Slytherin were being honest, it was making him a tad nervous. NERVES...He couldn't afford to break anything...QUIDDITCH...Not that it couldn't be fixed by magic...Meh, he just couldn't spend a lot of time in the infirmary...Too many tryouts. Homework. Lessons. He didn't have time for that... The Slytherin was going to comply, though. He just wasn't going to be happy about it...That was all. And then it was being suggested that they preform a sticking charm on their things. Well, that sounded like an excellent plan. In fact, he'd just get to that....It took several minutes, of course...but then he was ready. He WAS ready, right? Right? Yes. Professor Flamsteed was starting to give more details and Dylan actually perked up. So...This wasn't going to be dangerous at all. Just like being back out on the diamond, in the outfield....Catching fly-balls. The Captain glanced down at his glove, making sure it was firmly in place. They only needed two. One blue...and one yellow...and apparently there'd be some force behind them. Checking his mask...the Captain was taken off guard when he was suddenly floating. It was different than being on a broom, that much was for sure. He had no control...Dylan literally was fighting against the urge to have a panic attack. BREATH. Just. Breath. Taking some deep breaths, he tried to propel himself upward...but wasn't having much success...Merlin, how did astronauts maneuver themselves. Forgetting about his surroundings, he flailed a bit, trying to get some height...What he needed to do what push himself OFF of something...Bobbling around, he foot touched the ground just a smidge, but the Slytherin took advantage. Kicking off the ground, he torpedoed up, fist pumping. OH YEA! SPACE CONQUERED! Now...to catch some meteors. |
Post 1 Okay bruises she could deal with. Riding and taking care of horses wasn't exactly tasks that kept you from harm. Even if she had thankfully never been fully thrown from a horse. The loosing gravity was another thing. It would be like flying...without the help of a broom and certainly an added dimension to the upcoming activity that Ellura hadn't expected. But now was not the time to be a coward about it. The third year listened to the professor lay out the final instructions for the task at hand, paying careful attention so she wouldn't mess up. Ellura then bit her lip as she took hold of the nearest desk, preparing for the change in atmosphere which came none to gently. Her feet came off the ground and her fingers slowly but surely slipped from her grip on the desk as her body became nearly horizontal in the air in the process. Three...two...one...let go. The girl obeying her mind and letting her body float up a little more as she righted herself vertical. Now she just had to catch the meteors and NOT bump into anything...or anyone for that matter. |
Post 1: up we go Alyssa watched and listened as Professor Airey told them what was going to happen and what they were supposed to do. 'I knew it!! Loss of gravity, catching and avoiding stuff. Sounds like we're going to be playing a mashup of baseball and Quidditch bludger avoiding here. Awesome!!' Alyssa thought to herself as she prepared herself to start floating once the Professor cast the spell. When the words were spoken, she immediately felt weightless. She looked up and saw the little meteors floating up above her. She slowly bent her knees and lightly kicked off from the ground and found herself rising up higher. She found it hard to avoid not bumping into the other students because she had to fight to get control of positioning her body. "BUMP!!" Alyssa felt something hit her head. Thank goodness she had her helmet on. It was one of the meteors!! Alyssa realized that she should be watching for the meteors instead of the students. She watched as the meteors flew past her, above and under her...and towards her!! She knew that she wouldn't be able to get out of the way in time, so she slowly tried to get her the baseball gloved hand in front of her and hope that she got it positioned in the right place....in time or else she was going to get hit again. The yellow meteor came flying towards and as it was about to hit her in the chest, Alyssa managed to position her hand just in time and caught it!! One down!! Even as she was celebrating, Alyssa looked up and saw another group of meteors headed towards her. COLLISION TIME!! |
post 1 Sarah listened carefully to the instructions. She liked to know what she needed to do you see, so they were going to fly! WITHOUT BROOMS! That was going to be awesome. She hoped the charm she had put on worked, as she did not want her things to fly, lest they be hard to catch after wards. Hold onto somthing... Sarah was too busy remembering the spell and wandmovement that she did not hold on. Anyways, holding on was for sissys, not brave lionesses like herself. She felt the floor fall from under her and she was rising. BEAM!GRIN! She was delirious with jo, she was flying! Her heart was soaring just like her body. She spun around for a bit this was awesome! She was so happy that she did what Sarah always did when she was so overcome with joyous emotion- “I believe I can Fly” she sang, “ I believe I can touch the sky...” with those words she motioned with her hands to the ‘sky’ around her. :Professor, thanks this is awesome!" she called to the professor who was meant to be walking around - wait he was off the floor. It must be that he had forgotten about staying on the floor. Wait he was holding on to something (what a sissie). She looked around her, the endless view and the meteors that she was meant to catch |
Post #1 Catching stars? Was that safe? Alice still didn't think so, but she obliged anyway. She also wondered, if a star smashed into Professor Aireyhead, if it could stain his suit, singe it or something. That would be funny to see, wouldn't it? But. Anyways. FLYING. Without brooms, yeah, but it was flying nevertheless. As soon as the gravity was gone, the lioness could feel herself floating up in the air. And now.. to catch a star. Great. Perfect, actually. This was going be simple, yeah? Just like catching a Quaffle. The first star she spotted was a yellow one, and she quickly extended her gloved hand to grab it. But it shot past her, missing her fingers by inches. This was going to be difficult, wasn't? More like Seeking than Chasing, she supposed. Quote:

Post #2 Theo watched as all of the other students started flying up without ANY difficulty. It should be kind of a push for him to do it, right? Since he was a big brave boy. But... he just couldn't... and he was trying not to cry. Sheesh, it was really a wonder that he even had friends. He spotted Ella, who had smiled at him. He acknowledged her, but didn't smile, or make any expression back, and eventually just looked away at Dylan flying. Ugh, that was enough. Deciding to take a stand against his own brain, Theodore let go of the chair and went UPWARDS at an alarmingly slow rate. So why was he crying? Huh? Even the thought of accio-ing his broomstick here was crossing his mind, but what good would THAT do without gravity? How did broomsticks fly in the first place?! All these unanswered questions, but now was not the time for them. Meteors. Even that wasn't a good idea, Theo thought. Since Meteors were generally labelled as destructive and stuff. Whatever. The boy quivered in the air and held out his glove hand pathetically, but as soon as one came near him, he flinched and pulled his hand back. |
1! SPOILER!!: totally cool professor Awarlesta slowly floated up, a grin still plastered on her face from the points she received and the comments from the professor. Astronomy seemed to still be her number one favorite class. She shot into the air, kicking like frog, as the professor bid the force upon them. She's played muggle baseball before as a kid, so she shouldn't have a problem catching these! WOOOSH! One merely missed her head. Maybe she was wrong...Gulp. |
Post 2: Avoiding collision and trying to catch another shooting star Looking at the meteors flying towards her, Alyssa knew that she had to somehow get out of their way....but at the same time try to catch one of them as they flew by....or hit her. She found it difficult to move fast because she no longer had gravity to help her, but she turned her body to the side and angled it so that it started moving towards the left. 'Come on...move it!!' Alyssa thought to herself, hoping that in the process her body would miraculously move faster than it was doing now. Unfortunately it did not and the meteors continued to fly towards her. Alyssa tried moving her hands like she was 'swimming' in mid air. It seemed to move her body a little faster, but still it wasn't fast enough. Alyssa decided to move into a fetal position. She figured that the smaller a target she made, the less she would get hit. Bending her torso and moving her legs up at the same time, she positioned herself into a fetal position just as the stars were a few feet away from her. 'Brace yourself, Alyssa. This is going to be a bumpy ride.' Alyssa thought to herself as she saw the meteors getting nearer and nearer. She felt one bounce off her leg and then another. Her protective gear was helping to protect her body. Another bounced off her helmet and another her back. Alyssa peeked out and watched a blue meteor coming towards her. 'This is what I need. I already have a yellow one.' Alyssa thought to herself. Alyssa moved her gloved hand away from the fetal position and reached out for the star. It was now within her grasp. Alyssa help up her gloved hand and tried to catch it. But at the last minute, another meteor came out of nowhere and hit her hand, moving it out of position, and the blue meteor she had her eyes on, grazed her finger tips and flew by her. 'Darn it!!.....guess we're going to have to try again." Alyssa thought to herself looking out for the blue colored meteors. |
Post 3 Oichi swam through the air and got closer and closer to the yellow ball. When she felt like she was in reaching distance she stretched out her arm and with her gloved hand at the ready she grabbed hard for the ball. She missed and flipped in the air. She then got herself back on track for another go. |
Post #1 Peyton arched an eyebrow at the mention of baseball gloves. She'd seen that in the announcement, but she wasn't the kind to carry a baseball glove around in her trunk. Why would she in the first place? She was a Quidditch player, not a baseball player. Duh. After going up, retrieving a glove and suiting up, Peyton debated whether to attempt the gripping charm on her belongings and putting them in the box Professor Funners had. Eventually, she decided to trust the box. She didn't want her stuff flying around the room. She waddled her way there, the gear not really making easy for her to walk, and the waddled back to her spot. Okay, so they were going to be up in the air and were supposed to catch a blue and a yellow meteor. That'd be a piece of cake? Right? Granted, Peyton has never played baseball, but this seemed easy. Yeah, she could totally do this. Once everyone was lifted into the air, Peyton felt a strange sensation, like, she was falling yet, she was flying. It was odd. The floor disappearing only added to this odd feeling. She wasn't sure if she was excited just yet. Maybe once she got the hang of it she would. Almost anything cool excited this snake. "Hmph!" she grunted, flailing her arms as if she was swimming. It wasn't working. She wanted to go up higher, but instead all she was doing was going in circles. :dizzy: ...Maybe she should stop that since she was already getting dizzy. Peyton stopped flailing her arms, got near a wall and used it as leverage, pushing herself up. Okaaaay. She was getting the hang of this. Now for some meteor catching time. Peyton held out her gloved arm, straight in the air. She's seen a boy do this in a really old film and he caught the ball then. Maybe she'd have the same luck. Zooooom! She had it...she haaaad iiiiit....Nope. The meteor flew past her glove to Merlin knows where. HEY. It was supposed to land on her glove. No faiiiiiiiiir. |
Post 3: Attempting again Alyssa kept a look out for more blue meteors while trying to avoid bumping into the other students. She maneuvered her body towards the lesser populated area while trying to avoid getting hit by the meteors flying straight at her. Left!....right!...left!....left!....duck!.....bump !... Alyssa had bumped into another student without her even realizing it and found herself turning head over heels. She was now facing upside down. 'GREAT!! Now how am I going to get back upwards again?' Alyssa thought to herself. She first tried positioning her body horizontally....which took forever!! But she managed to get in that position. Now to get her body back into position with her head pointing up and her legs pointing down. Alyssa wished that she had somebody to grab onto so that she could pull herself up that way. She looked around for Jory. |
Post 1 Melody grinned she was prepared for this. She got her gear on. She slightly moved around in her protective gear. This felt awkward in this. Did muggles really wear this kind of things? How dreadful. HOLY MARLINS BEARD! She was too busy getting used to wearing the protective gear she didn't even notice the professor turn off the gravity. Before she knew it she was swimming in the air. Swimming and spinning around that was. NOW WHAT?! At lest 'moving' around seemed to be easier. Wait.... where was her glove?! |
Post 1 It wasn't often that a guy got to be weightless, and Mo felt like it would be a huge shame not to take advantage of this opportunity. Not to see how much trouble he could get into, necessary, but to try some tricks and really explore what was possible while weightless. Flips. He wanted to do flips. But Mo was also aware that he'd already lost five points so far during this lesson, and that the Professor already sort of hated him, and so he calmed his urges. No weightless experimentation today. Or not ON PURPOSE. As soon as the bottom seemed to drop out of the room, or the gravity disappeared really, Mo felt his feet casually leave the ground. He wasn't rocket-powered, after all, merely weightless. The lack of contact with the floor, however, made it difficult to get any sort of propulsion, and Mo had to rely on swimming motions to get him up in the air and away from the floor. "Anyone able to give me a shove toward the ceiling, please?" |
Post 3 And now for his second attempt. No meteors were coming his way, so Jory just floated around hoping that one would come his way. Because one minute he seemed to have gotten use to the floating and another minute he felt like a helpless person trying to get to another direction. This reminded him of a dream he had a few terms ago, and he had used it in Divination class for Kurumi to interpret. Just then, the badger felt his elbow come in contact with something. Someone, really. He looked around. "Sorry, Ella!'' he called. "Hope I didn't hurt you.'' He drew his attention back upwards looking. And just in time too! There streaking towards him was a blue meteor. "Got ya this time!'' Jory stretched out his gloved hand again. This time, the meteor landed squarely in the glove. "Got one!'' SPOILER!!: Lyssa It was then he spotted Alyssa. Awkwardly, she made his way over to her. "Hiya, Lyssa!'' he said looking at her and grinning. "Enjoying the view that way?'' He wasn't sure if she found it funny but he did. Anyway. "Come on, let me help you.'' The Puff extended a hand. |
2! mentions of Mo Awar tried using a technique that was sort of frog-kicking-combined-with-mermaid-swimming-and-really-fast-movement to get around, but mostly just holding out her arm, pulling it when it was threatened to be broken. A random boy was asking for a little shove, so she "swam" under him and pushed him up by the feet. "Er, there you go!" Her eyes widened as a glowing blue object shot towards her, she closed her eyes and held out her glove, SLAM! Bingo! Blue one, down. |
Post 2 So Theo...totally hated her guts now, huh? Ella tried not to be upset about the fact that he didn't even smile in return. She just kept repeating the same thing over and over in her head. He just needs some time. He just needs some time. He just needs some time. Frown. Growing up was hard stuff. Anyways... So...these meteors kind of hurt when they hit you, especially depending on where they hit you. Meh. Ella wasn't going to get discouraged! Nope! She just needed to kind of dodge the ones that were coming directly at her. Yeah, like some sort of awesome... ninja meteor dodger! YEAH! ...Totally possible. With this in mind, the fifteen year old continued her awkward swimming motion, eyes on the blue and yellow streaks that were ZOOOOOMING all over the place. She only needed to catch two so... Oh!...Oh! Oh! Oh! There was one a bit in the distance and headed right in her direction! This was...well this was one she could grab, yeah? The blonde stretched out her gloved hand, biting her lip in concentration. Any minute now... THUMP. Groan >.< One of the blue meteors hit Ella's mitt awkwardly right where her fingers were located, making it hard for her to get a hold on it. So close yet so far. LAME. O__O And then Ella felt something hard hit her arm but it didn't feel like a meteor hit, it was pointier than that. Strange. She looked around and saw that Jory was nearby and he was...apologizing? "Oh that's okay, not your fault!" They were all just kind of floating around like crazy...it wasn't as if he'd meant to do it. "And I'm okay so no worries." And she gave him a small smile. |
Post 2 Catching the falling stars was easier said then done. The first one flying her way got knocked away in the process by the flying foot of another student. Hufflepuff if she wasn't mistaken. A foot that almost wound up hitting her as well and Ellura treaded her arms in an attempt to 'swim' away from the danger. The action serving well to avoid the errant limb but putting her right in the path of another meteor coming up behind her without her knowing as she flailed in her movements. "ow..." That could leave a mark. |
Post 1 Alex barely had time to register the fact that the gravity was going to be sucked from the room before he felt his feet lifting off the floor. EEEEP! He was flying! Well, he'd been used to flying for some time, but with a BROOM not with nothingness all around him... Unsure of how exactly he was to move around the room, he did some testing. He leaned forward and then backward, using his arms and feet to propel him. It was a bit like swimming...or what he assumed swimming was like, since he didn't really know HOW to swim. He paddled through the air, trying not to crash in to others, and after some time practicing, he figured he was experienced enough to try his hand at the activity. Flexing his fingers in the baseball glove, he glanced up to look at the meteorites flying about above them. Ok, he could do this, this wasn't hard at all... He paddled his way upwards and practiced moving his hand around with his glove. How did muggles actually play a SPORT with these things??? |
Post 1 Nell had spent the entire lesson in the back of the class. Her notes were extensive but for some reason she hadn't felt a need to speak up but it seemed that the lesson was progressing to hands on level. Annnddd then the Professor was telling them to suit up. Interesting. Her grey eyes went to the glowing balls that were zipping back and forth across the ceiling as she strapped on her gear. The last thing to go on was her glove and she looked at it thoughtfully. No gravity? This could be fun. Extracting her wand she made sure her things were charmed into place, the last thing she needed was her ink wells and Magical Creatures homework to go floating around the room. Nell started trying to fit her glove on her hand when her feet suddenly left the floor. Her body went completely weightless and the feeling was so weird that she let go of her glove. "Oh my goodness!" She giggled as she slowly floated upward. The ground had been magicked to look like the rest of the room so it was like she was floating in space. Then the fact that she was in class hit her and she panicked. Her glove! Looking around frantically she spotted it up above her. Using some swimming moves she managed to make it to a wall. Using her feet she pushed off the wall and rocketed toward her stray glove. Her hands closed around it and she gave a triumphant shout. Ooommmffffff.... A yellow sphere went spinning off in the opposite direction having used her ribs as a spring board. She glared at the offending ball. You will be mine, stupid mustard colored ball. |
Susan heart started racing as she was floating higher and higher. OMG!!! How was she ever going to get down! Susan started quietly talking herself out of screaming "Ok calm down, everything will be fine...just hurry and catch the blue and yellow "falling stars" and you can get down." Susan would have rather have been on a broom where she had better control, she then decided to use this lesson to her advantage. She needed to practice now that she was on the Quidditch team so she might as well start now. Susan took a deep breath and narrowed her eyes at a blue streak moving across the "sky". She started moving her arms and legs as fast as possible to try to get to it. Ya, she probably looked like an idiot. |
Post #1 No gravity, so they'd be able to float around. That sounded pretty cool. It would be like flying without a broom, right? So it would be fun. Penelope glanced around when he told them to grab something, but the gravity was removed before she found anything good to hold onto, so she quickly felt herself rising and her feet leaving the ground. Ohh, this was strange. Not quite exactly like she'd imagined it would be; it felt pretty different from riding a broom, aside from the big glove and protective gear she was wearing. Leaning any way didn't really help her go that way, she just kept gradually rising/floating. It wasn't until she moved her arms and legs that she finally started moving a bit faster, sorta swimming through the air. She was slowly getting the hang of it, kicking her legs and sorta flailing her arms, and she looked down to see how far she'd gone off the ground - but it didn't look like there was any ground. Just space. Slightly awed, she leaned forward a little too far as she kicked her legs again and found herself falling forward until she was completely upside down, her face looking down at where the floor used to be and her legs pointing towards the flying lights above. Gahhh. This was not okay. But thankfully, after a bit - or a lot - more flailing and kicking, she righted herself up the way she was supposed to be again. Phew. Meh. |
