Post #4 Mika & Lex Eliza nodded in agreement when Lex said that they already knew each other. She had remembered, but thought it was nice of Mika to introduce them all the same. She gave a polite smile to Mika and smiled at Alexa. So she wants to fly, eh? She pictured Lex suited up in some crazy canon ball flying act outfit - sailing across the room towards the shiny meteors. "Seems cool to me!" she said approvingly. She crossed her fingers for luck as she watched Mika get into a better position to fling Lex from. She was really getting some good leverage, and then Lex was up, up and away - off through the air. "Good luck!" she called out after the brave little Gryffindor. She nodded back to Mika and replied, "All right sure. I'll try to catch one until you come back." She looked above her and tried to find a yellow meteor that wasn't too close to any bombardment of other rocks that might potentially hurtle into her face. Hmm...no... Nope, not that one... Nuh-uh. Then she saw one. It looked a little smaller than the others and seemed to be lagging back and forth in an area clear of many students. Looks as good as any, she supposed, and kicked her legs to boost herself over to the wall it kept circling near. Once she reached the wall, she planted her hands and feet against it behind her back, ready to literally spring into action when the yellow meteor came near enough to grab. |
Post 4: Attempting to straighten up and catch another meteor SPOILER!!: Jory to the rescue Alyssa grinned when she saw Jory make his way over to her. "Yep the view is very nice from here, but I much prefer to be catching those meteors in an upright position, so thanks for the hand up." Alyssa replied grabbing hold of his hand with her ungloved one and slowly moved it up from his hand to his elbow to his shoulder until she was back upright again. .....and just in time too as she saw another cluster of meteors headed their way. "I need another blue one, what about you? I see both blue and yellow in that cluster over there. " Alyssa pointed out to him. "I'm going to push myself away from you, so that we don't end up crashing into each other. Thanks again for the help and good luck with your next catch, Jory." Alyssa thanked Jory again as she gently nudged herself away from him and tried to maneuver herself into position. She continued to keep an eye on the blue meteor that she had spotted as she slowly but surely raised her hand up. 'No sudden movements, Lyssie.' Alyssa told herself. She saw the blue meteor vear off to the side and she angled her body to move in that same direction. 'Position status? Check. Hand ready to catch? Check! Come to mama, you little blue meteor.' Alyssa whispered softly to herself and to the blue meteor that was heading straight for her. |

It was probably useful having talents other than hitting stuff with a bat and biting things, yeah? "Okay, your call." As long as he didn't drag her away from these stars, too, yeah? Jokes, of course. She didn't mind having catch another. It meant that she got to fly around with him some more, so it was okay. Alice managed to steer him toward the patch, and since his hand was still wrapped around hers, she was dragged over as well. And he seemed to have been right, too. There were dozens of blues bouncing around in a cluster, and they seemed pretty easy to snag, too. Unless he was going to go the other way again, because that would just be counterproductive. "D'you want to choose a direction in which to reach in, and I'll go the same way? So neither of us misses another?" |
Post 1 They were going to be doing WHAT now? That was why they were in these ridiculous protective gear suits? Merlin, she much preferred the Professor's traditional suit to be honest over these disgusting things. Where had they been before? That she would like to know. Who had worn these suits before and where had he gotten them because they were NOT Quidditch gear. No, they were grade A muggle... so he had gotten them from somewhere. And wherever that place was she would have liked to have known, although she DID already put the bloody thing on, so she supposed all of this fretting was kind of a mute point. Eh, whatever. Sucking it up, she felt herself get sort of levitated off of the ground after he said some random spell she had NEVER heard of. Whoever had come up with that spell OBVIOUSLY knew their latin though. So she was proud of that. Most spells butchered latin and this spell was not half bad. Not great, but not half bad. And then it hit her all of the sudden. SHE WAS FLOATING! ZOMG! This was so cool. The redhead flew all of the time, but this was different. This was literally like flying. Her and Kurumi had once watched a movie called Charlie Wonka or something like that and they had a scene where it was like this. The floating bit, of course. Except they were burping. Huh. Weird muggle movies. Getting her head back in the game, she started to swim through the air sort of and went to go and catch the meteors. Hopefully nothing broke. Kurumi wasn't here anymore so her nose was safe. At least she hoped it was... she REALLY hoped her nose was safe. That would not have been nice. Now... where were you little meteor? Let's go. And just then one flew right by her head... SHE DUCKED just in time and her eyes bugged out of her head. Okay, so this was not just a tame lesson, huh? Way to just jump right in suit-man. |

Jory held Alyssa's arm while she pulled herself upright. "Careful there. Don't wanna dislocate my shoulder,'' he said jokingly. "All better now?'' The badger turned to take a look at the cluster she had indicated. "Need a yellow one,'' he responded. Yup, he was going to aim for that cluster, all right. "Alright, but just be sure not to crash into anyone else.'' Wink. "No problem. I'll keep an eye out in case you go upside down again.'' Grinning, Jory "swam" towards the cluster, in the opposite direction from Alyssa. It was tough work but he was enjoying this. He kept his eyes on the target, ready to catch one of those yellow meteors. |
#3 That THING!!! It should make Sophie's life easier if it STOPPED so she could catch it! Gaaahhhhh!!! Or maybe she should forget about that one meteor thingy and get another one. Hm. That sounded like a better plan. Just when Sophie was about to Luckily enough her instincts were faster than her thoughts and she covered her face with her hands and also LUCKILY enough, the gloved one was in front of the bare one, so when the yellow meteor hit her, no harm was done and she grabbed the thingy before it could rebound or something. Yay! That was easier than she expected! Maybe she should just wait for a blue meteor thingy to come her way as well? Hehe! La de da... Twiiiirls! |
Post 2 Melody soon found her glove near by. Great! The stupid thing was out of reach. She frailed her arms about trying to get to it. No luck. Melody was going need the professors help. NO! Meldoy was too proud for that. No way she was going to ask for his help. She could do this. She WOULD do this. How else would she learn. That is how her father taught her. You can't learn unless you did it on your own. Wait... she remembered how it felt like swimming. She took that a clue and swam in the air over to her glove and put it on before it got away again. There she was now ready to catch the meteors. |
Post 2 Floating around the room, she flipped twice in the air- not to be cool, but simply because she could control her body in this zero gravity nonsense. Regaining her bearings, she flailed her arms and controlled her stance a little. Once she felt comfortable enough to move forward, she started to sort of butterfly forward until she got tired. THAT WAS HARD SWIMMER STUFF. She played Quidditch, she did not competitively swim or whatever that was. So instead, she opted for just simple strokes. Starting to get better at the zero gravity stuff, she dodged a couple of meteors and almost caught one with the muggle catchy thingy. That was what it was called, yeah? Oh no, wait, it was called a mitten. Didn't Kurumi cook with one of those? Yeah, why did they call it a cookie instrument? Were they going to bake now because that was like potions and she was not that good at that either. Then all of the sudden, because she was thinking about potions, Selina was super distracted. Distracted enough to not pay attention to the things flying about. SO MUCH SO that one hit her straight in the bum. OUCHHHHHH! She yelped at the contact and started to rub her bum. MR. FLAMSTEAD THIS WAS NOT FUN ANYMORE! WHY WERE THEY DOING THIS? And she had not even caught ONE of the bloody meteors yet. Bloody... meteor... buttheads... |
Post 1 Nina blinked twice after the instructions. Did Flamsteed just said catch meteors? She looked ridiculous with her gear but it made sense to be wearing it, she didn't wanted to get hurt or something ANYWAYS this was going to be fun. Nina quickly did a sticking charm so her belongings wouldn't go anywhere and suddenly she started to float. DON'T PANIC. She tried to hold on to something but instead flailed her arms like trying to stop going any higher |
Post #2 So apparently, just staying in one spot was not going to work for Lana and she had to move around a bit. Meteor catching was apparently another thing that she was going to add to the list of things she was good at. Flailing around in the air, well she had that down for sure. As well as looking like a fool. |
Post 5: Catching one of those blue thingies Quote:
Alyssa angled her body to the left to try to intercept the blue meteor. It was coming...it was coming....it was within fingers grasp!! Alyssa stretched out her hand as far as she could and her fingers latched onto the blue meteor before quickly curling over it, holding it safely in the palm of her hand! 'And we have touch down!' Alyssa thought jubilantly to herself as she pumped her fists in the air. |
Post #1 *meep* Weightless. Okay....... That really didn't sound like that much fun. Sky preferred having both feet planted firmly on the ground, not floating through the air with no real control of where she went. But since it was a class assignment, she had no choice but to suck it up. Needless to say, when she felt her feet starting to leave the ground, she wasn't that thrilled..... |
Post 6: Just floating around crashing into things The moment Alyssa pumped her fists in the air, she knew that she had made a bad mistake. Just that action alone, sent her drifting upwards....towards the ceiling of the classroom. Alyssa tried slowing down her upward drifting by flapping her arms with her palms facing downwards, but that only made her drift upwards even faster. The ceiling was getting closer. Alyssa had no choice but do what she had to do. She deliberately did a back flip. Bending backwards, her body slowly turned upside down until she was facing head downwards and her feet upwards. She barely had time to get into that position when she felt her feet touch the ceiling. The moment it did, she bounced off it and found herself headed back down head first. As she floated back down, she saw a cluster of meteors headed in her direction. Since she had already caught her required two, Alyssa's main goal now was to avoid getting hit by them. She reached out for anything she could grab onto to slow down her downward motion and take her out of the path of the oncoming meteors. Alyssa spotted the top edge of the projector and reached out for it. Her fingers grazed it but she couldn't grab a proper hold. She reached out again...this time for the side of the projector and her finger tips of her ungloved hand just managed to latch on to the side. Alyssa looked in front of her. The meteors were coming!! |
Spinning spinning spinning - and still somewhat wailing about his suit - Airey was quite literally spinning out of control thanks to a few well placed meteor collisions that were constantly changing the trajectory of the astronomer. "Now class! Can you see how this lesson is also a great demonstration of Newton's first law of motion, the Law of Inertia?" he called as he continued to spin across the room before colliding with the opposite wall and sort of just staying there like a bug squished on a pair of Quidditch goggles. Could anyone hear him? Probably not. There was an awful lot of Quote:
Airey suddenly found himself moving forward instead of staying in place Now where was he off to next? Quote:
"Perfectly fine, Miss Lecium. Perfectly fine," he grinned as he floated by while still making small cork screw turns in the air. Quote:
Had he not been clear enough in his instructions to NOT catch any of these with their bare hands?! It was dangerous! "Miss Potter! PLEASE pay attention to safety instructions! They are there for a reason," he said, flailing a bit as he floated by her towards the other wall. While he was glad that that particular meteor hadn't seemed to cause any damage to her palm - which was good because those things could be nasty and leave horrible bruises, hence the glove requirement - he was still flailing around a bit. "Minus 5 points for not following instructions and please be more careful next time. I'd hate for you to suffer an injury that would keep you from Qudditch." Yes, he had seen the rosters and was REALLY excited about the upcoming season. Quote:
Flailing some more as he rummaged through his breast pocket for his wand so he could deal with Mr. Clark's wheelchair, he waved off the man's concern. "Perfectly fine. Enjoying youself?" he asked he guided the wheelchair to the floor and then kicked off the wall that he had once again smacked into and propelled himself towards the floor. |
Post #2 UPWARD! TO INFINITY AND BEYOND! Okay...So, being weightless was kinda awesome. Points for you, Professor Flamsteed. Yes. You are WIN. It was mental praise, of course. How awkward would THAT have been to say at that moment. Very much so, yes...Besides, no need to let his peers think he was going soft. The Slytherin was NOT. Hmph. Now, all he needed to focus on was getting up high enough to catch a meteor. It seemed rather simple...but he just couldn't seem to get up there. Dylan felt just out of reach of these blasted things...He was flailing a bit, trying to help...but not accomplishing anything. He was spinning to the side...not upward. SPOILER!!: Professor Flamsteed SPOILER!!: Oakey Gunter Huh? Trying to spin around and see what was going on, Dylan spied the Professor and Oakey...The Professor was screeching about his suit. Oh, lord. Of course Oakey would be involved in that. He was a walking....Erm, floating disaster. Well, both. He was just as accident prone on the ground. The Slytherin knew these things... Hmmph. Suddenly he was knocking hard into something...What, he didn't know...and it was sending him flying in the opposite direction. GAHHH! Just........need..........to.........grab one.......and then another... Oooooh. Maybe he could SWIM up there...Dog paddle? Do some strokes with his arms...Hmmmmm. Trying to center himself in the air, Dylan took some deep breaths and focused. Being careful in his movements, he started shifting the space around him by paddling his arms. It was working, too! He was slowly moving upwards. YES...Okay, now to conquer catching some meteors... Which would be first? Blue or yellow? He was waiting and watching. Where they supposed to be random? He'd seen a few, but...hadn't been close enough...Flailing his arms a bit more, Dylan shifted up...closer. He was definitely ready... BLUE.........He spied a BLUE one... They were moving really fast...Bleh. He'd have to be quick. Reaching his glove up, the Slytherin prepared for impact...From what the Professor had mentioned, they were going to have some punch to 'em. Challenge accepted. When it made contact with the glove, the force of momentum knocked Dylan off course. He was in one place...and then he was sailing away from the meteors....NOOOOO. The blue one was still grasped in his glove...but he needed ANOTHER one... NOW WHAT? |
Post #2 Peyton attempted to grab...something. The wall wasn't necessarily helpful since it was smooth of any handles. She wanted to catch a meteor sooooo bad. Like, so bad you couldn't believe it! The dang things were just too fast and, honestly, she was sort of scared to get hit by one. She knew the protective gear would help her, but what if a meteor hit where she wasn't covered? Professor Funners said it wouldn't hurt a lot, but what if she got a bruise? SHE COULDN'T AFFORD A BRUISE.:whaa: WWHDD?! In other words: what would her daddy do? He'd probably guffaw at the adventure in front of him. Then he'd probably make sure his gear was set and glove on tight. THEN he would kick off the wall and just go for it. She felt like those muggle space people in...space. Peyton twirled once, sticking her gloved hand out into...space. She kicked her legs furiously when she saw a meteor zooming in her direction. OHMERLIN! This was her chance! Peyton kicked her legs at the air, pushing herself in the direction of the meteor...she haaaaaad iiiiiit... THUD! *blink, blink* She rubbed the spot on the helmet the meteor had bounced off of. PHEW! That was a close one. Instead of growing scared, Peyton felt a rush of excitement. Hehehehe! If a meteor had hit her head that meant she could definitely catch one. With more determination, Peyton flailed her way through her classmates... ...Just keep swimming, just keep swimming... |
Post 3 The seventh year was NOT happy, okay? A meteor or whatever that thing was hit her in the bum and now she felt really sore. Flamstead should have thought this through because tomorrow she was going to REALLY uncomfortable and she had to sit on that thing! Her bum was sort of an important part of the whole sitting mechanism and now it was bruised by one of those crazy, flying meteors. SO NOT COOL MR. SUIT MAN. She was just going to throw that out there... she didn't like getting hit with things that she was not prepared for. This wasn't Quidditch. IF SHE HAD MORTIMER THE METEORS WOULD HAVE HAD SOME SERIOUS ISSUES... ...just saying. Getting her eyes back on the prize, which consisted of sucking up the bum bump, the redhead started to look around for a slower moving meteor to catch in her mitten for cooking thing. She needed to get these points because Gryffindor was awesome and they needed them. ALSO BECAUSE HER ICKLE BITER HAD JUST LOST THEM POINTS! YEAH! SHE WAS EYEING YOU MISS FISCHER AND YES, IT WAS THE DISAPPOINTED LOOK! Merlin, they did not have the numbers for Alice to be loosing points. And then a meteor zoomed past her head and she outwardly flinched. Merlin, Selina pay attention. The redhead already got hit earlier she did NOT need to have that happen again. She was going to bruise... Suddenly, she saw a shiny yellow one that was coming right at her. OH SHE COULD DO THAT! She could grab that one, all she had to do was find her inner seeker, which would be rather hard since she was pretty gifted at hitting things... not, you know, grabbing them out of thin air. But she could do this. Yes, she totally could. All she had to do was concentrate. And as the yellow meteor came close she put the kitchen mitten up and hoped for that's best. There was a push against her hand and then she felt a tad bit of warmth radiating from her glove. Peeking one eye open she saw the meteor sitting in her hand. SUCCESS! OH YEAH! One down Professor Flamstead and she had a bruised bum and EVERYTHING to show for it! |

Laura felt a bit dazed by whatever she hit, she looked around trying to figure out where about she was, oh right she was in space. "I'm the first student to go into space." Laura giggled and then looked at the girl she had bumped into. "Are you okay?" Laura was a bit concerned about the other girl, she must have been hit hard by her because she couldn't really stop or move or anything in time. Laura would make sure this girl was alright, she held out her hand as soon as she saw something coming towards her and the other girl but she wasn't moving after it and so when she saw she wasn't getting it she just let it go past her fingers, she was more concerned about Nerida to move, surely she was okay right though. |
Post 1. Uh, yes. No. She was wearing the provided gear minus the mask, well....because she forgot? Cue puppy look. Because excitement got the better of her when Professor Flamsteed he was going to remove gravity and whatnot. Upon hearing that, her eagerness overflowed and her ears neglected listening to any more precautionary measures. Eh. She wasn't going to die without a mask though, right? She had gloves in anyway, which seemed to be what's more important in this little 'Catch A Falling Star' game. Two meteors. Blue and yellow. Okay. ..... O.o Er.... WHOA! Flamz muttered some spell and the next thing Beezus knew, her hands had latched quickly unto something....something she didn't know and also didn't have the time to want to know as her lower extremities began to break away from the ground. "Holysnitch." she mumbled as she slowly went upside down. MEEEEP! Meteor coming her way! With a low squeal, she released her gripped from whatever it was she was holding unto as the meteor charged past her and then she began to float freely along with her peers. ...Come here, little debris of yellowness....or blueness....or either of you two... Come here. Oh, yes. She flapped and flailed and kicked about as she reached with her gloved hand for those meteors. So far, no collision yet. That was good, no? So...just keep swimming.....just keep swimming... |
Post 2 Minerva was floating around smiling. This was a great lesson props to the new professor. Looking at all the lights going around Minerva's head, she decided it was time to catch one. Hmmm looking for the best one to try and catch. It had been so long since using a glove. Seeing one come towards her Minerva put up her hand to catch it, but quickly put her hand down and let it go past her. That was close she was glad she remembered she needed to use her glove hand. That would not have been good. Now time to focus on doing this right. Minerva saw another one over a bit. Try to reach out with her glove she just wasn't close enough and missed all together. |
Post 2. This was one of those class activities that you have to intentionally bump into people to have more fun whilst still concentrating on the task at hand. I mean, a vast Planetarium where they seemed to be floating in space with stars and other sparkly celestial bodies all around them, meteors in tow for catching, baseball gloves? Who wouldn't want to make something fun out of that? As long as no one will be hurt, it was safe to say having fun while attempting to catch meteors was going to be worth it, right? Besides, when she turned her wrist a while ago and eyed the time, she still had over 25 minutes to do some catching. Using her legs to propel herself, Beezus slowly went upwards until her back hit another. It was Minerva Wheatborn, from Hufflepuff. "Oh, I'm sorry!" She mumbled, shifting on mid air, her hand on the girl's shoulders as she hovered for a bit. ....and then it ZOOMED past. A yellow meteor. Just an inch in front of her...in front of her face and then it bounced off, hitting what seemed like the ends of their little galaxy. Flailing, the Ravenclaw removed her hands from the Hufflepuff and did a kick off to float away.....but she wasn't moving! O___O "Yaaaaah!" ITWASCOMINGBAAAAAACK! Holditshewasnotreadywaitwaitsomebodyhelpher! It must've been what they called adrenaline rush because when she opened an eye, her gloved hand was covering her face, and she felt something hot penetrating through the cushion of the glove. Without second thought, her fingers enclosed on it. Oh, HEY! Wasn't that a yellow meteor? Hmm. Oooooooooooooooooooooh. She got one! She got one! "Hehehe." See? That wasn't too hard, yeah? Exceeeeeept...she did not realize that about three meteors were headed towards her direction. |
post 1 Ethan shrugged a little at the response to his answer and returned to his The sixth year's slightly widened eyes turned to Flamsteed and the meteor shower now above his head. Hmm.. interesting. Having read the notice before class, Ethan brought his dragonshide gloves since he didn't have a baseball one. But as he realized that would not be sufficient, he went to the box and selected one of the gloves. He then put on the protective gear as instructed and returned to his seat to cast Adhearo on his bag and supplies. Ethan walked back up to the front of the room and listened to the instructions. Removing the gravity.. ? Cool! His eyes searched the blue and yellow meteorites as he suddenly felt his body lift upwards. Huh.. this was kind of a weird feeling to get used to.. He sort of moved his arms around a bit, almost as if he were trying to swim through the air, to try to move around and to steer himself away from some of the more uncoordinated students bumping into each other. Now.. to catch a falling star.. |
Post 5 ^_^ Text Cut: Flams. TSK. ;) Law of Inertia? Oh those Newton laws of motion they learnt last term from Astronomy with Plus, she had a Ravenclaw meteor to chase. OOOOOOOOOOOOH, how she missed Chasing. She was appointed Keeper now, but that position wasn't too far from being Chaser. She was still gonna catch the Qua- THERE'S THE FRIGGIN' RAVENCLAW METEOR. Kat eyed it for a while and then floated all the way to where it was. Flying up, and maybe a biiiit too high, she bumped on the ceiling. "OOOGH." Kat massaged the top of her head, where she got hit. Okay, this was getting on her nerves now. Kat wanted her bat now. Like NOW. But she can't have her bat now, so she just lowered her head and tried to avoid bumping into something again. She 'Chased' the blue meteor with an arm reached up for it. Kat stretched her arm more.... Urgh, that hurts. C'MON GLOVE. WORK! And then the Slytherin clasped her glove around the meteor. "Yessssssssssssssssssssss!" With the hiss of course. #SnakePrideFTW |
Post 3 Minerva grumbled as she missed the falling star. She really wanted to catch one. Floating around Minerva saw others catching them. She was a little athletic in the muggle world so this should not be to hard, but softball was not her strongest sport either. Why couldn't they have hockey sticks hitting the stars, now that could work. Moving around she tried to find a good one to catch. Spotting a splash of color coming near her, Minerva quickly pushed off a desk and went towards it. As she got closer Minerva reached her glove out and just as she was about to catch the star she felt something hit her back. Moving out of the way she noticed it was another meteor. How did she not see that. Being to focused on one was not a good idea. Lesson learned, rubbing her shoulder she floated on to try and finally catch one. |
Post #3 anybody help a Hufflepuff? Quote:
Wait he could just get one himself! Unholstering his wand he pointed it towards the leftover pile of protective gear. "Accio..." before he could finish a yellow meteor shot at his extended arm and knocked his wand loose! "No!" swim, swim swim...get hit by a few meteors, ow ow ow... swim, swim, swim... His eyes widened as he watched his wand float around in front of him. The meteors seemed oddly avoident of his wand which was the luckiest thing that's happened so far in this class. Reaching his arm forward with his ungloved hand, his fingers barely touched his wand before a blue meteor shot itself right into his palm! OH HOT, HOT, HOT! No he needed his wand. Which no thanks to the last meteor was knocked upwards. Swim, swim, swim! "Somebody catch that wand!" Oakey yelled out. |
