Text Cut: MeredithRodneyMckay Sierra eyed the professor as the woman walked from the front of the room to the back. Garbage bags. Sierra still hadn't gotten used to the fact that at some point, she'd be wearing an entire outfit of garbage bags. At least the garbage didn't come with the bags... That'd be really bad. She watched the demonstration, taking note of the small, yet important, changes. It didn't seem too hard to accomplish, especially seeing as they'd just used a similar spell to make a shirt. When it came time to try the spell, Sierra wasn't too worried that she'd get something wrong. She moved into an open area, content to just practice the wand movement first. She held her arm out, pretending as if it was her wand. "Summitto Vestis!" she said, moving her arm downward, flicking it up, and then down again in an upside down V shape. Nope. Not hard at all. |
Right, so...spell time. Penelope was determined to cast this spell successfully a lot faster than she had the other one. She practiced the wand movement several times, moving her wand up and then down in that upside down V-ish shape, even alternating between large and small sizes just to give the practice a little bit of variety. Her last few attempts were more normal-sized though, and then she decided she had the movement memorized as good as possible. The second year then moved on to muttering the incantation, "Summitto Vestis... SummITTO VestIS... Summitto... SummITTO... Vestis... VestIS..." She repeated it over and over, separate and together, until after about a minute or so, she decided she had that down too. So now to try them together... |

Since that was obviously the point. She drew the inverted V again, and then turned to Kurumi. "Can we try the spell yet?" |
Olivia found it might be easier to make a hole at the bottom of the bags to be used as the pants. But since the profesoer said, she needed to use the one's with slits down the middle...She better ask "How do I fit these garbage bags onto the mannequin, I can't get them to stay put!" she said, tying the bag in a knot which looked nouthing like a pant leg. |
Eliza spotted her tunic on the display board and felt conflicted. She liked it all right, but it wasn't the best thing she'd ever seen either. She supposed that was to be expected. Stuck with it now anyway, she thought to herself. I guess it's not that bad. She grabbed a trash bag and wrangled it onto the bottom half of her mannequin. She'd already put some thought into her outfit and knew she wanted to make some thick leggings for the bottom half. The professor hadn't said leggings were allowed though. They really weren't all that different from straight legged pants, so maybe it would be ok. She decided she should ask before she got too far ahead of herself. "Professor? she asked as she approached her, "Would it be all right if we made thick leggings instead of trousers?" She didn't want her to think she was just trying to be wild and wear as little clothing as possible so she explained. "My top is actually a tunic, so I was thinking leggings would go best." She really hoped that would be okay, since full trousers would be a bit too...billowy for her taste. |

Assuming that she didn't melt her bag this time that is. "Professor Magnus said we could give the spell a go if we were ready," she nodded, eyes back on her mannequin and the trash bag that was loosely hanging off it. Simple. Black. Pants. No zippers. Just...black pants. This SHOULD go fine since it wasn't like the spell was entirely unfamiliar now, right? Fashion wasn't her boggart anymore either - ish. "Summitto Vestis," the Gryffindor said, wand moving again. She held her breath as the trash bag became stiff and less crinkly looking, the material both softening in texture and becoming more firm in appearance. After a few moment she reached out and touched the pair of pants that had been transfigured and wrinkled her nose. "What....material did I just transfigure this into?" she laughed nervously. It was like a really stiff cotton crossed with taffeta. Not something Kurumi would want to slip her legs into. "It feels like it would be terribly uncomfortable..." |

Cora looked around, anxious. This didn't seem too difficult, did it? The incantation was simple enough: Summitto Vestis. Cora whispered this a few times. "Summitto Vestis, Summitto Vestis, Summitto Vestis." The wand movement was easy too. An upside down V. So why didn't Cora had confidence? The skirt. What would it look like? What if it was silly looking? Cora resolved that she shouldn't care what others would think when they saw her creation. Furrowing her brow in concentration, Cora planned out her skirt in her head. Focus. |
i knew this class was open >_< The Slytherin had surprisingly been very quiet throughout the lesson. He had failed to do the previous spell they had learned from last class and even with his homework he hadn't gotten it right. That was why he was quiet, he didn't want to bring on the attention that he was a loser. Even when heard the Professor say to a Gryffindor that failing was a learning process. Still, he was going to try again because Daichi Katharos NEVER gave up....kinda... He wanted to practise the spell first so without a wand he said the incantation. "Summitto Vestis" he whispered a few times until he knew he got it right. The wand movement was easy so he did not practise that. "Summitto Vestis...Summitto Vestis..." Now he hoped it was going to work. He now moved to grab a trash bag and wrapped it around the mannequins legs. When he was sure it was secured he practised the incantation one last time before he grabbed his phoenix feather wand. "Summitto Vestis!" he shouted and traced the upside down v as he pointed it at the trash bag. In his mind he had a simple pair of jeans in his thought....but he already knew what was going to happen.. He failed. The bags around the legs didn't even change a tiny bit! |
Daichi!! <3 "Concentrate, Daichi,'' Jory told his duck loving friend as he set up his dummy next to the Slytherin. "What are you planning to transfigure the bag into?'' He turned his attention to his own bag and dummy. "Summitto Vestis!'' he said and made the V shape wand movement. "Concentrate...'' he reminded himself as he pictured a black shorts bordered with yellow linings in his head. The Puff waited. And waited. "Nothing's happening, is it?'' he asked looking at his Slytherin friend, wearily . |
Minerva practiced saying the spell a few more times, "Summitto Vestis" "Summitto Vestis" then she went to the front to get a bag. Heading back to her seat she looked at the shirts. What should she try to make to go with that shirt she wondered. Well that could be thought of later, right now she just needed to think of something to do first. Thinking whether to do pants or a skirt, Minerva thought. Let's go with something really simple, like a simple black skirt she thought. Yes, that would be a good thing to start with. Thinking of the black skirt she pictured it in her head the best she could. Not to long, but not to short. Just simple... Making the V right side up Minerva tried to clearly say "Summitto Vestis" the bag blew off the table and she frowned. What could she have possibly done wrong. Thinking she giggled a bit, oh the V needs to be upside down not right side up.. |

Daichi looked at Jory as he set down his mannequin beside him. "I know, it's still difficult though" He tried again and visualised a simple jeans. "Summitto Vestis" he moved his wand in an upside down V. He looked at Jory as he too tried the spell but failed. "well i'm trying to do a simple pair of jeans, what are you uhm trying to make?" |
*flail* I didn't see the new post! *Catches up* Text Cut: Magnus Well he DEFINITELY wasn't going to be making a skirt. So that was quite an easy choice! I wonder how this will go.. He had really struggled in class for the first version of this spell, but he'd managed it in the homework. Well, I'll never know unless I try, I suppose. Leaving his mannequin, he shuffled up to the front to grab his bags. He quickly found two and turned to make his way to his seat. Pao promptly stepped on a bag and lost his footing, falling sideways into the pile of bags with a loud crinkling sound. The Hufflepuff, embarrassed, turned bright red and got up quickly, taking great care as to where he put his feet this time. He reached his mannequin without further incident. Still embarrassed, he fumbled with the bags far longer than most people needed to get theirs attached. Great start, Mancini. He'd hoped that his newfound lack of clumsiness in the air would translate back to terra firma. Well that certainly did not happen. He grabbed for his wand in his robes and unholstered it. Clearing his throat, he got right to it. "Summitto Vestis, Summitto Vestis, Summitto Vestis.." he chanted, making sure he had the pronunciation down. Next he practiced the upside down V motion Magnus had demonstrated. I like this flicking motion much better. It's easier. Finally he felt confident enough to try the spell for real. With two connected flicks of his wand, he spoke the incantation, "Summitto Vestis." The black bag began to morph. When it was finished, it had made fitted pants. But they're definitely still bag material. I forgot to visualize! he thought, smacking his palm to his head. But he wasn't too discouraged. He hadn't honestly expected to get it right the first time, anyways. |
Okay, okay. Once was enough when it came to practicing that charm and incantation. It still felt like second nature to Sierra, since she'd just mastered a similar charm. Still, she'd wanted to review it at least once to ensure her she wouldn't fail. She was confident that she'd cast without a mistake now, or at least without complete failure, so it was now time to move on. She collected a bag, already pre-split down the middle, and then moved to her own mannequin. She fit the garbage bag around its waist, and then raised her wand. "Summitto Vestis!" she said, moving her arm downward, flicking it up, and then down again in an upside down V shape. The bag sort of blew like it was in the wind, but nothing happened. Sierra blinked. Oh. Intent. Right. She knew that. She raised her wand to try again. |
Sarah then went to get a bag. As she walked she thought about the design. A pleated skirt in a matching pattern would go well or did she went an A ine skirt in a matching pattern that had frills on the bottom. She thought as she put the bag on her mannequin... Finally she decided on the pleated option. However she decided to start with a simple black skirt. She went held out her wand did the upside down V shape said Summitto Vestis and though about the simple black skirt... yet nothing happened. The garbage bag just stared insolenty back at her. What was she doing wrong? Then she remembered that sometimes it does not always work, it takes a lot of mind power to get it right. |
While she was waiting for the professor to have time to address her question, she tried to remember the incantation in her head. Okay, Summus Vestis is for shirts.... Summitto Vestis is for pants. Right? She listened to the other students practicing in the room. Yeah, SummITTO VestIS. It wasn't the way she naturally wanted to pronounce it, so she was trying hard to make a muscle memory with her mouth to say it right. SummITTO VestIS, SummITTO VestIS, SummmmITTOOOO VestIIIS! Maybe if she exaggerated, it would stick in her mind. Okay and the wand movement is an upside down V - not Z. Seems easy enough. Her mouth turned up in a small smirk when she noticed she'd thought of the word seems. Ha, seems...seams... She had been noticing things like that for a while lately, and for some reason they always tickled her funny bone. I really need a hobby, she thought jokingly to herself. |
Summitto Vestis? Seriously, what were these spell creators thinking when they went to the latin and butchered it to make a spell. Vergil would not have been pleased, but, alas, the ONLY person in the room who actually cared about the Latin was Selina. Everyone else just looked at her when she went on her rants like she had twelve heads, which sometimes she suspected herself. The redhead was a little on the more.. eccentric side. Not that she minded at all. It was just sort of the way she lived her life. But she collected herself, kept her mouth shut and went up to grab the pre-ripped bag. Once she had it, the redhead decided to try out saying the latin without waving her wand, "Summitto Vestis." She said it a few more times, before she drew her wand and made and upside down V to just try. Okay, she was ready. Time to get started. |
Lowering his hands that has the plastic bag he eyed the mannequin that had his name. Well maybe he should start taping this up onto the dummy and start trying the spell out for real yeah? He wrapped that split plastic around the dummy's waist with a simple sticking charm and stood back. Eh.... it still looked like a skirt or really lose board shorts. BUT, he knew that the key to this was to focus, focus, FOCUS! He set his wand against the dark plastic and in an inverted V wandstroke uttered the spell "Summitto Vestis!" The garbage bag quivered and fluttered from where it was attached around the dummy. For a moment Vickers thought it was going to lengthen like pants usually do--instead the bag shortened... and is that slit between the bag seems to be fusing together.... Vickers eyes grew large when the transfiguration was done. *blink* Errr... no. He is not wearing THAT. |
Belle decided to try it out. She knew the incantation and if she did it wrong. Well..practice makes perfect. Belle went up to get a bag like the rest of her classmates. She went to her dummy that her name on it. She was ready. Belle wrapped the plastic around the dummy's waist. It kept falling off. Gah! Belle then used the sticking charm she knew and it stood there. "Good plastic bag." Belle told it. Then she got out her wand. She imagined what type of pants she wanted her dummy to wear. Once she pictured it, she said "Summito Vestis!" and did the upside down V shape. The bag was crinkling and changing it shape. Belle was getting excited and it changed into sweatpants! Belle was thinking of something comfy and it happened to be her dance sweatpants back in her dormitory. Hmm..next time she was do something classier. Yup that is for sure. |
Sorry it's late! Quote:

Isabelle smiled at the girl and patted her on the shoulder, before moving off and wandering around the room to see if anybody needed help. |
Ummm...yeah...she'll need some help... Okaaay. That was enough wrist movement. Her wrist was starting to complain and she needed it for later. Right. She didn't feel the need to go practising the spell command. It was pretty simple, wasn't it? Just two words that needed to be stressed at the appropriate letters in order to work properly. She could handle that. It wouldn't be that hard--it was the actually casting that she had to worry about. Setting her wand down on her desk she took the plastic bag and tried getting it on the dummy. Whoever said that dressing a mannequin was easy lied. -____- Lex struggled with the mannequin; it being completely difficult of course. "Come on you stupid thing, shouldn't you be happy I'm getting some clothes on you." She muttered in agitation. She grabbed hold of the thing firmly but found herself tripping over her feet, thanks to her chair, and crashing to the ground with the mannequin landed on top. She screamed. "Get this thing off me! I'm sorry, I didn't know you didn't like clothes that much! Don't eat me!!!" Nevermind that it didn't have a head; at this school, anything was possible. |
Quote:
Looking back at the mannequin she smiled a bit. "Do you need me to help you? I don't mind at all." she just wanted to help the girl so she wouldn't be attacked by a mannequin again. |
So you agree she was attacked ;) Quote:
There were many ways she'd pictured dying before and they were all far more heroic than at the hands of a vicious, man-eating mannequin! Blink. Blink. Blink. Just like that magic the thing wasn't attacking her anymore...She looked up and saw a Hufflepuff she'd seen around the place before rescuing her from the evil grasp of what was to be her classwork. Taking her hand she got up quickly and tried to play it all off. It was cool. She totally did NOT just scream and act like a girl. "Yeah, I'm fine. You know, it's just lucky you got here to save it before I decided to show it a thing or two." Yuuuup. She wasn't scared at all. Not. One. Bit. Gryffindors weren't afraid of anything and neither was SHE. "But now that you're here and offering, I'd love some help!" BEAM. And that's how she continued to play down the situation. Pretty smooth for an 11 year old, huh? |
Quote:
She stood back to look at her mannequin, picturing exactly how she wanted the clothing to look. "Summito vestis" she said, forming the upside v shape with her wand. Patches of fabric appeared on the garbage bag. Maybe she didn't say it quite right. All of a sudden Olivia heard a loud crash beside her. She laughed and shook her head as the Gryffendor's mannequin fell on top of her. |
Quote:
Minerva couldn't help but giggle at the girl, did she really think Min was that dumb. "Yeah you were sure showing it, I tell ya." She smiled and helped the girl up. Making sure the mannequin was on the table right and not able to fall again she looked back at the girl. "I'm Minerva by the way." she then took her wand. "Of course I can help you, what are you needing help with? The spell it's self, the wand movement, or just visualizing what you want to do?" She went to the front of the room getting the girl a bag. Once she brought it back to the table, she looked to the first year. "So what do you think you want to make?" |
