Transfiguration Lesson Three

As you enter for the last time this term, you notice that the classroom is once again bigger than usual. There is a very good reason for this - there is a massively long runway going down the middle of it, separating the desks into two rows down either side. At the back of the runway are two screens, one each side. Lined up are the mannequins, fully dressed in the outfits you've all made, and still with your names on them. You'll need them later. On each desk waiting for you are two small paper plates.

Professor Magnus' desk is nowhere to be found. She is, however, sat on the edge of the runway waiting for you all to take a seat.

OOC: Class doesn't begin until tomorrow (about 15 hours from now), but I'm opening so you can all enter. Chat among yourselves - but not too much, eh?

DaniDiNardo 11-09-2012 12:09 AM

What on earth...?

Lex stood at the door in awe. What happened to the classroom?? She didn't know what to make of it. On the one hand it looked pretty neat but on the other hand she felt like she was at one of those fashion shows Amanda used to force her to go to so they could 'bond'. She never did like those...

Before entering completely she took a wary look around the room. It wasn't until she saw her mannequin in a line with others that she finally allowed herself to relax. Good. That meant it would be far away from her. It seemed the Professor was finally getting the idea. Maybe she wouldn't have to deal with the vicious thing at all this lesson. Now wouldn't that have made her day!

"Hello Professor." She gave the woman half a smile before going to her seat; this whole class still made her nervous. There was no telling when the thing would leap across the room and try to finish the job it started earlier.

Oh?

Paper plates? If this was a replacement for the mannequins then she definitely approved.

dan arjay 11-09-2012 12:11 AM

Jaxon walked quietly and observed. It wasn't like him to be the first in the room but he is keen for Transfiguration today so, why not.

He looked around and said, "Good day, Professor!" he said in a professional manner. Something feels weird in him. Or maybe because he just misses him family. He looked at the professor again and said "How are you today, Professor?" hoping to invoke a response.

Lissy Longbottom 11-09-2012 12:29 AM

Oh Merlin. There was a runaway. And mannequins. They were going to be modeling today, weren't they? Alex was very self conscious and NOT about to model clothes he magicked out of thin air...he debated turning around and walking out right away. No, he wouldn't do that. He was going to see this out.

"Hey Professor," he said with a smile as he entered the room.

pundantic 11-09-2012 01:08 AM

It was time for Transfiguration. And Selina was ready. She had gotten up early and EVERYTHING to get to class on time. Okay, maybe that wasn't exactly true. There had been a lot of commotion in the dorm this morning with the younger lions that kept her awake, but STILL! LOOK SHE WAS ON TIME! The sixth year felt accomplished.

Walking in with her back stiff and her chest proud, she waved to her Professor, "Good morning Professor! Good morning, indeed!" Selina was here on time! SELF HIGH FIVE!

Holmesian Feline 11-09-2012 01:11 AM

The last transfiguration class of the term...that was a sad image. Even more so given what was up at the end of his term. But now was not the time to be thinking about that and being sad, now was the time to get to the lesson. So Gideon made his way to the transfiguration classroom only to find it once more changed as he entered behind a familiar redhead. A runway? What was up with that? Oh... their clothes going to be on display...the mannequins once more back.

Whatever followed would no doubt come soon enough.

"Good day Professor Magnus," he greeted the woman with a polite smile as he made his way further inside the room. Looking at the two sides, Gideon debated on where to sit, chuckling softly at his girlfriend's behavior. "Hey Selina."

Kurumi was feeling really nervous for this particular lesson - mostly because of what her and Vivi had discussed while they had done their homework. Shoes. It seemed rather logical that they would be transfiguring shoes next and Kurumi was terrified of them. Well, not in the same way she was terrified of chocolate frogs or spiders...but in the way of she just didn't understand them. Especially heels. Vivi was on to something with her males creating them to torture women. It made sense.

Pushing open the door, Kurumi was about to step inside when she took one look at the classroom and FROZE. Her arm shot up in the air and her index finger pointed at THING that was in the middle of the room. A THING that people who knew how to walk in heels would walk down to model and show off what they were wearing. HEELS. What if.... her eyes darted to the desks where there were TWO paper plates. Like...TWO to make a PAIR of SHOES.

Kurumi could feel her skin beginning to itch already, which was why she began scratching her arm. Merlin...she was breaking out in a nervous rash.

VIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVI?!

hpluvr037 11-09-2012 02:59 AM

Alright, time to finish their outfits!

He hurried excitedly down the corridor towards the Transfiguration classroom. Upon his arrival he immediately noticed it. Woah, a runway! Woah, a RUNWAY?!?! Shoot, this had disaster written all over it. Because I am the world's biggest klutz!

Much less excited now, he took a seat at a desk on the far side of the room. This was bad, this was bad, this was bad...

Steelsheen 11-09-2012 03:38 AM

So....given his success rate after a lot of mess ups with transfiguring clothes Vickers was actually kinda looking forward to seeing what they would be asked to transfigure this time around. But when the Ravenerd entered the classroom his attention was immediately taken by the RUNWAY in the middle of the room.

He kinda stopped dead in his tracks. Uhm...They were not actually getting on that thing were they?

He eyed his dummy that was now wearing the full ensemble of his work, and despite that dread weighing him down in his stomach, a small smile tugged at his lips. Maybe they would get those dummies to move yeah? Because he doesnt remember ever being taught how to walk down a runway. And he has actually seen a live version of such fashion shows to know that walking down the catwalk isnt anything like walking down a sidewalk.

He plopped himself quietly into his seat and stared busily at the paper plates on his desk. Oh are they gonna be eating too?

Milton made his way over to the Transfiguration classroom, hardly thinking or wondering what in the world this lesson could be about. With a yawn, Milton found himself in the doorway of the classroom about to run into some silly Gryffindor who was standing in the way. Milton dodged her, but took a moment to STARE at her. Cookie Girl. Pointing. Milton followed the direction of his finger and saw... a runway.

"Ah. Interesting," he said with a small smirk, remembering their conversation about fashion from earlier. Milton's attention turned to... Kurumi's arms. She was scratching them. Weird. "Feeling all right there, darling?" Smirkitysmirksmirk.

Bazinga 11-09-2012 03:50 AM

Minerva walked quickly to class. She wasn't late, so she wasn't sure why she was being quick, but she just wanted to go and learn the next step to the spell. As she walked into the room, Minerva looked around to see who was there already. Smiling at Professor Magnus, Minerva stopped. Wait.. She is on a runway, wonder what's going on today. Minerva gave a small smile, "Hello Professor, this is interesting." Minerva turned and found a seat and watched to see what they would be doing.

Kurumi's eyes were sort of coming in and out of focus as she looked at the RUNWAY in the middle of the classroom. They weren't like...going to...have to use that today, were they? Could they just use Piertotum Locomotor on the mannequins and make THEM model their clothing? That was a transfiguration spell...it connected...it meant they didn't have to wear heels and stumble down the runway looking all sorts of awkward. It meant ---

"Darling?" Kurumi repeated, raising an eyebrow at...oh, the fake Ravenclaw. Wrinkling her nose, Kurumi tried to think of something equally strange to call him back, but she didn't end up thinking of anything. That bloody runway and all this fashion stuff was distracting her. "Y-Y-Y-Yes?" Kurumi mumbled unconvincingly as she continued to scratch her arms, tugging on the sleeve of her robes a little and revealing just a little of the rash that had already formed. "Just...um...thinking about where to sit...."

FearlessLeader19 11-09-2012 05:07 AM

The first things Jory noticed when he entered the room was the runway and the rows of mannequins. He couldn't see his though and he suspected it was at the back. Uh oh...a sudden though hit him. Were they going to...model?

"Nothing better to make myself look stupid,'' he thought as he eyed the paper plates and wondering what they would be using those for. "Good day, Professor,'' the Puff greeted before he took a seat at one of the desks.

Talikins 11-09-2012 10:10 AM

Catwalk?

Um...were they having a fashion show or something?

Oh wait! Right they had transfigured clothes this whole term, most probably what this whole thing was about. The red head eyed her mannequin and bit her lip a little anxiously, she really hoped that this cat walk didn't mean they had to model. You know incase she tripped and then fell and then whole embarrassing story. Gah! Even the thought of the was just terrible.

"Morning, Professor" Nessie said with a smile as she passed her the adult and the headed towards an empty desk on one side of the classroom. She took her seat and then looked at the two paper plates before her, trying to guess what they would be used for.

Most probably name tags...but who knew at a school like this? Weird things were happening all the time.

MagicalWorld 11-09-2012 10:38 AM

Dylan entered the classroom and just stood there as he looked at the setup, he just hoped they werent going to do what he thought they were going to do cause there was no way that he was going to that!

He gingerly entered the classroom "Hey P..professor" he said now hoping that the runway wasnt going to be used for what he thought it was going to be, please dont let it be so! please dont let it be so!

He then sat down and took a seat well away from that runway thingy and started playing around with the plates they had, well he needed some kind of distraction right now what with that runway not too far from him. IF he looked over he could still see it! He closed his eyes for a second and opened them again looking back over as if it were a bad dream but it wasnt a dream this was real!

Princesspower 11-09-2012 12:12 PM

What was the long thing in the middle of the room. Sarah did not know what a runaway looked like. In fact she thought they were going to be running away as that was shat the notice had said. She saw her mannequin and she wondered if they were going to run away in those clothes or the clothes were going to run away from them...
"Hello Professor" Sarah said. this was all very confusing Sarah chose a desk that had 2 paper plates on it and wondered if they were going to transfigure it.. into what htough. Maybe glasses?

Kimothy 11-09-2012 12:47 PM

Kat entered the Transfiguration classroom with a smile... To be specific, a small smile. Yep, something happened today that she loved. Yeah... YEAH. Katrina Marie Hudson is totally happy today. Because of one small thing done by one person. And Kat will NEVER EVER forget what happened. So lucky, she is. And so happy. What the firebolt.

Aha. "Hi Professor!" Kat said. Uhmm... not normally like her to be so bright and jolly. Well, class + inspiration = HOUSE POINTS. Woot. Now that made Kat's day even brighter. Oh yes. Then, she took her seat.

Oh, there was his Captain! The one that had led them to the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup match! Yeah, he was super proud of her. It was even her first term at it!

He flashed her a smile and a small wave. Well I may as well go sit by her. No use being by myself. He got up and moved over to her. Maybe she'd take his mind off of the embarrassment he was worried about--tripping. "Hey, Captain!" he said cheerily, though his insides didn't match the outer mood."Looks like a fashion show today, eh?"

Ethan stepped in to the classroom, feeling a teensy bit better about the class with all his studying and the extra help Minnie had been giving him. It still was his worst subject, but he was starting to see a marked improvement in his spellwork. Stopping just inside the doorway, the boy gave a cursory glance around the room then shot a look towards Professor Magnus. Oh no she was not making them put on a fashion show.. He forced a smile onto his face as he walked into the room and, as he passed the instructor, said, "Good day, Professor."

His mood lightening as he spotted Minerva, Ethan gave her a genuine smile and slid into the seat behind his desk. Eyeing the paper plates, he held them up for a moment, one in each hand, to examine them. "Shoes, maybe?" he mused aloud.. That would make sense, at least.

Minerva gave a smile as she saw Ethan come through the door and then move and sit next to her. When he picked up the plates she listened as he said his thoughts. "That would make sense, since we have done the shirt and pants.. Maybe you could look good in some heels.." Minerva giggled at her joke.

He will be back later dont worry :P

Harvey slowly made his way to the classroom and he looked inside for a certain girl, but she wasnt there yet. So he.. was earlier than her? oh this was not good! He couldnt do his usual thing.. AND he knew how she liked being early.. what should he do now?! He decided that he would come back later there was still a little while until the class actually started so he would go out for a little walk now and return later in time for the class and he would sit near her since she preferred him being nearby. So he left with the plan of returning later since he really wanted to do see her sitting there as he entered the classroom, to feel her eyes on him as he walked towards her in class. To then look at her as he walked so that she could feel his eyes on her, have an unspoken conversation between them before settling down for the class. So he walked out.....

MeredithRodneyMckay 11-09-2012 08:22 PM

Class will now...begin. ;)

Well, someone had gotten out of bed on the right side that morning. Returning the wave with a slightly smaller one of her own, Issy chuckled. "Good morning, Miss Skylar."

Flicking her wand out, Issy shut the door behind the last person to enter with a simple swish. It was time to begin. "Okay then, good morning all of you," she smiled, nodding her head in greeting to all the kids assembled at their desks. Climbing up the steps onto the runway, Issy looked down on them from her prominent position. "You're probably wondering what this is for," she would be. "I thought that seeing as you've all done so well with your outfits thus far, and I have checked to see how well they hold together," with a bit of pulling and tugging, that kind of thing, "that at the end of the lesson you could all model them for the rest of your classmates."

She waited to see how audible the groan would be before moving on. "But first, you need to complete those outfits. Which leads us to those paper plates, and the easiest question you will probably be asked all day. What do you think we're transfiguring today?"

Lissy Longbottom 11-09-2012 08:26 PM

Alex looked at the paper plates. Hmmm, what could paper plates easily transfigure in to? He thought about it a bit and thought maybe a shield? No that didn't make sense. People didn't wear shields in every day life. He was too caught up in superheroes thanks to Muggle Studies.

He raised his hand and took a shot at asking the question. "Hats maybe? Or shoes?" he asked. "Some sort of accessory is my guess."

They were going to...model?! *blink* ...but wasn't that what the mannequin was for? Sierra just wasn't too keen on getting up and putting on a show for the rest of the class. Maybe the professor would just let her push her mannequin on past everyone's gaze and be done with it. Hmm...

Paper plates, though? Sierra nodded in her brother's direction then raised her hand. "I agree. I think we're making shoes," she said. Which didn't make her feel any better about wearing two garbage bags. At least they didn't typically put garbage on a paper plate, though...

Expecto-Penguin 11-09-2012 09:24 PM

Belle was kind of nervous. She did not want to model in front of the class. She was not too keen on that option. But she could have fun with it and deal with it. She would have to present in the real world soon enough.

Then the professor asked what they would do with the paper plates. Hmm well they already made t-shirts and pants. So shoes would be logical right? "Professor i agree with the others, will all of us be making shoes?" she asked. Belle loved shoes though.

Oh, not SHOES. The only way to make shoes that were seventh-year-level spell worthy was fussy buckles and buttons, numerous straps, or something with heels. Vivi wasn't going to enjoy wearing any of those.

Perhaps they could just model their outfits barefoot. If she'd known this was going to turn into... a runway thing, she would have designed an outfit that more suited her current personality, rather than the witch she thought she'd be after she left Hogwarts.

"It's probably shoes, professor, but I would love to be wrong. I'd like to make a jacket or... a hat. Something more challenging."

Lex's eyes kept flickering to the mannequins while the Professor spoke. In her mind they would start moving any second now and there would be some kind of huge mannequin takeover that wouldn't go well.

Her attention turned fully to the Professor when she mentioned that they'd have to go modelling. UUUGGGGHHH. If no one else groaned she knew she did. Why'd they have to go and do something so girly? She didn't want to go up there and do that!!! Don't get her wrong. She'd do just about anything infront of people from a lack of concern but modelling was taking things a bit too far. Her hand shot up. "Professor...does everyone have to model their outfit?" Please say no! Please say no! She'd die if she had to go up there and do what those model people did. Yup. Like legit, she totally would.

"And I guess everyone's right. We're making shoes, yes?" This was much better than the other stuff she had to make because this didn't involve that bloody mannequin!

Oh, she didn't want to model? That was kind of disappointing, but... "No, you don't have to if you don't want to. But those of you that don't will have to push your mannequin down the runway to show it off." Or was that just a mean idea? Alexa didn't like hers after all...

"Anyway, I don't expect any of you to model perfectly, Miss Cambridge. It's really going to be just a bit of fun at the end of the lesson."

SPOILER!!: SHOEEEEESSS

Paper plates, though? Sierra nodded in her brother's direction then raised her hand. "I agree. I think we're making shoes," she said. Which didn't make her feel any better about wearing two garbage bags. At least they didn't typically put garbage on a paper plate, though...

Then the professor asked what they would do with the paper plates. Hmm well they already made t-shirts and pants. So shoes would be logical right? "Professor i agree with the others, will all of us be making shoes?" she asked. Belle loved shoes though.

"Shoes! Precisely. I figured that was an easy question." Isabelle walked to the back of the runway and picked up a couple of paper plates she'd left there for her demonstration. Going back to the front she placed them down on the floor and stayed crouched. "So yes, you'll all be finishing off with a pair of shoes. I can see some of you don't appear to be enamoured with that," Issy glanced over at Vivi and Kurumi, the later seeming to have some kind of rash showing.

"We did hats last term, Miss Branxton. Perhaps one of your classmates would fill you in on that if you want to learn it. Right now though, it's shoes I'm afraid." Isabelle smiled at the girl, before flicking her wand out again and resting her free hand across her knees. "Now, basically, this spell will turn anything made of card or paper into a pair of shoes or boots - depending on how you imagine it to go. It's very simple as regards wand movement, just a tap on the target object. And as you are making a pair of shoes, you need to tap once on each plate, like so." She showed them what she meant without actually doing the spell yet, just so they got it.

Looking up, she nodded to make sure they understood before launching into the actual spell itself. "You only have one word to worry about this time, 'Pedestis'. So if I wanted another pair of shoes like the ones I have on, I'd go like so..." Issy aimed her wand at the plates and very gently tapped each one while saying the incantation at the same time. "Pedestis!" Slowly the plates began to narrow and gain in height, changing colour to the black she was wearing, before separating into a different colour for the soles. "Simple really. And as I said, design is based solely on what your mind can create for you. Don't limit yourself to something easy if you don't want to. Zips and buckles will always be harder, as with the clothes, due to their metalic content. Now, are there any questions before we start? If you don't have any, and feel confident enough, give the wand movement and incantation a go, then start on the plates."

Lex breathed a sigh of relief when the woman said she wouldn't have to mod--

BDJFDBOSFBSDLDVKXS!!!

O________O

Seriously?! There was No WAY she was going to go near that thing just so she could push it down a runway! NOPE. Nuh-uh. It might have tried something funny. Mmmmm. "On second thought I think I'll model." Anything would be more 'fun' than getting eaten.

Wow. So now she'd have to model. SIGH. Lex slumped down in her seat, not very pleased with the ultimatum she'd just been given. She was so upset in fact that she almost didn't hear a word the Professor was saying. When she realized this she tried to calm down a bit; the spell was important and she had to learn it.

No mannequin? One word? She was feeling better already!

Looking over at the plates she couldn't help but smile a bit. These things would never try to do her in. Reaching into her bag she took out her quill and ink then drew a smiley face one each of them. "There." replacing both in her bag she took her wand off the desk she'd rest it on then turned to the plates again.

First she would work on the spell command...

"Pedestis...Pe...des...tis" This didn't take very long to get used to. "Pedestis! Ped..es...tis..." Not long at all.

Sounded simple enough-the one word incantation. Jory decided to practice first without his wand.

"Pedestis...Pedestis...Pedestis...,'' he repeated. "Pedestis...Pedestis.'' Yup, simple. Problem was could he concentrate better than the previous times when hey practiced the tops and bottoms?

Milton pointed to two desks in the middle of the row by the runway and proceeded to drag tug Kurumi towards it. They were going to be BUDDIES. Oh, this was going to be good. Heheheh.

"Hey!" Kurumi snapped, looking at her hand that Milton had just swatted. She was itchy! And nervous, but ITCHY! Whatever, she was just going to go ignore his presence and go sit in her usual seat...

Her seat. Her usual seat. It was moving away from her instead of towards her. Why was it doing that?!

And then she realized that it was because someone was pulling on her robes. Someone that she hoped was either Lewis or Selina or Vivi...but no such luck. Nope. Instead she found the fake Ravenclaw was dragging her off somewhere else and saying crazy things like 'we' and 'my friend'. "You're doing this on purpose..." Kurumi frowned as her feet reluctantly followed his lead towards the desks. Desks by the runway. Desks that were not going to be used as torture devices.

And now there would be no protesting as Professor Magnus was wanting to begin the lesson. Scowling slightly, Kurumi slid into the desk beside Milton and furrowed her brow. If anything caught on fire...she would fling it at Milton or something.

Runway...so they WERE going to be walking the runway. Did she have to? Could she just...you know...not? "Professor, can we use Piertotum Locomotor instead of modeling ourselves?" At least older students since it was rather advanced magic. It really WAS a win-win situation. Two transfiguration spells in one lesson and all...

And then the paper plates came into discussion and Kurumi really couldn't see what else they could be besides...

Milton glanced at the two paper plates on everyone's desks. Well, there was only one thing missing from their outfits. "Shoes!" Duhh. "How exciting. Kurumi loooves shoes. Don't you, Kurumi?" he asked, turning to the Gryffindor. He winked. Oh, he loved being obnoxious. He was SO good at it!

..............yes. Thank you Milton for that. Shoes.

Glaring at Milton and his comment, Kurumi sunk a little lower into her seat and folded her arms slightly. "I don't hate them," she muttered in reply. She liked boots and tennis shoes. Sandals were alright as well.

Leaning over and AWAY from Milton, Kurumi wiggled her fingers at Vivi to get her attention. "I can show you the hat spell sometime." Like now was fine...because it would mean that it would be something that could take her away from the Quidditch captain she was sitting next to.

So...shoes. They really were going to be transfiguring shoes and she just needed to suck it up and get it done - along with stopping all the scratching of her arms. She wasn't going to be able to perform any spells properly if she kept scratching, which was really the only incentive she had to cease said scratching. Easier said than done though, especially with Milton flashing her knowing smirks and all that.

Wand out, Kurumi watched and slowly mimicked Professor Magnus' movement. Just a tap? At least the wand movement wasn't painfully drawn out and long. Tap each plate and say the incantation. Simple enough. "Pedestis....Pedestis....Pedestis....."

What do you think we're transfiguring today, Hudson? Obviously something they haven't transfigured. Or something to complete their outfit that needed a little touch. Shoes...

Didn't they need shoes? "Maybe footwear, Professor," Kat answered. "Or shoes." Really, footwear was a better term anyway. Heels can't be shoes. Or.... maybe they can. Yep, Katrina Hudson has just confused herself.

Pedestis. Why was this incantation shorter and easier than the previous ones? Summus Vestis and Summitto Vestis? Two words. REALLY. And this one just had to be a whole lot easier than them. Well, just be thankful instead. No questions so far, time for practice.

Kat took out her wands for her holster. The blonde then tried to imitate what her Professor did, except she wasn't going to make it real. Just practice. Okay, fine you get the point. Plus the movement was as simple as a tap. And the movement was just a tap. Cool. Now, practice the incantation first. "Pedestis... Pedestis... Pe-des-tis... Pedestis..." Good enough?

Milton listened carefully, determined to do everything right. He wanted nice, but casual shoes that matched his outfit he made previously so he didn't look like a mismatched hobo strutting down the catwalk. Milton Shacklebolt was better than that.

After watching Magnus to the incantation and transfigure her plates into shoes, Milton said the words under his breath a few times to get it right. He just had to make sure to be very specific about what he wanted his shoes to look like.

Yes, Milton heard Kurumi trying to get out of modeling on the runway. "Awww, don't be shy now, Darl-Dear---Kurumi." Sheesh. Girls were so picky. Since when did nicknames really hurt anyone?

Getting his wand out, Milton cleared his throat a little and concentrated on what kind of shoes he wanted. He thought of the size, the color, the style... kind of. Eh, whatever. "Pedestis," he muttered, tapping each paper plate with his wand. Slowly, they began to transform... into two log-shaped figures with small holes that Milton's feet definitely wouldn't fit in. "Huh. That didn't work." Obviously.

"Thank you, Professor," Vivi kind of wanted to slide underneath her desk and hide for bringing up a spell that everyone must know other than her. She'd learn it, though... someone would know... Kurumi wiggled fingers in her direction, and Vivi gave the girl a relieved smile. Not that this outfit needed a hat, but she hated not knowing something.

"Thanks, Kurumi. Whenever you have a moment." Because she didn't want to take the girl away from her own mannequin, of course. She'd want to tweak her own outfit before modeling it.

Her own attention went to those paper plates. What could she make first? Something sort of simple, but that would stretch her abilities. Galloshes, maybe... without buckles or zippers, but the height and material would be a challenge for now. Vivi practiced the incantation quietly under her breath until the words seemed as familiar as the other incantations they'd learned this term.

Once she knew the incantation, Vivi closed her eyes to picture exactly what she hoped to Transfigure... the size and shape and color and thickness/texture of the material... all of it. Now... time to try casting. Vivi pointed her wand to the first plate and murmured, "Pedestis."

sweetpinkpixie 11-10-2012 08:55 AM

Vivi & Milton *BEAMS*

Kurumi continued to mutter the incantation to herself a few times, idly tapping her paper plates every now and then to try and find some sort of rhythm. That tended to be her problem with transfiguration. Her spells were not smooth and the initial attempts were spotty and too rigid. After a few more tries, Kurumi felt as though she were ready to give the spell a proper go.
Until Milton spoke again.

At least he didn't mention anything about shoes, but he did get a slight eyebrow raise for his attempt at giving her a nickname or something. Still, Kurumi did move her desk just a liiiiiiiiiiiittle to the right, away from Milton and closer to Vivi and realized that she was in a Ravenclaw sandwich.

She did glance out of the corner of her eye at his attempt, straightening up her posture a bit before rolling up her sleeves and giving it a go herself. Something simple. Sandals. Nothing fancy. Just plain white sandals.

Tapping her plates, Kurumi said the incantation and then waited to see if she had somehow managed to melt things again this time. Only that didn't happen! The plates shrunk and morphed until they both turned into very VERY simple white sandals. Small smile on her face, Kurumi turned towards Vivi. "I think I might be willing to face that runway if I wore something like these," she laughed at her pretend fashionista friend. "Oh, sure. Anytime really. After class maybe?"

So they are getting on the catwalk!

Vickers shifted uneasily in his seat. He was hoping the Professor would teach them a spell that would make the dummies move on their own, something like Piertotum Locomotor. Dragging or pushing a dummy down the catwalk sounds more appealing to him personally, but it also looks the most awkward.

Before he could ponder this uncomfortable issue any further Magnus started with their next spell-- something that will have them transfigure the paper plates into shoes. Well that sounds simple enough right? Hopefully? Maybe?

He turned his attention to the paper plates and mimicked the Professor's movement. He did this a few times before silently mouthing out the spell Pe-des-tis..... Pedestis

They were making.. shoes?? Thea looked down at her feet for a moment, and then up at the professor.. She hoped she didn't have to get up on that runway! She would match Gryffindor colors if she did that!

She was pretty sure red wasn't a good color for a face!

She shook her brown head and looked down at the paper plates..

Pedestis huh?

Okay.. She gout out her wand and started muttering to herself.. "Pedestis.." She looked down at her plates, she could use some really comfy boots right now.. "Pedestis.."

They were going to what? At first Hannah did not like this idea at all. She wasn't big on going in front of the class and doing anything. On the other hand she was fabulous and her clothes looked amazing and she knew that everybody would be dying to see her handy work so maybe it wasn't going to be that bad after all. She would feel confident in her outfit. She listened as the professor asked what they thought they would be doing today. "I too think we will be transfiguring shoes." It did explain why they had two paper plates and all.

"Pedestis!" Slowly the plates began to narrow and gain in height, changing colour to the black she was wearing, before separating into a different colour for the soles. "Simple really. So they were going to be transfiguring shoes. It sounded cool and fun, but it also sounded like it would be difficult. She had enough problems trying to get her shirt and skirt perfect. She had a feeling that getting the shoes perfect was going to take even more work. She was glad that this was the last thing that she was doing. She actually felt pretty accomplished this term.

She paod attention to all of the instructions that the professor gave them. The wand movement was just a tap so that was easy enough. She tapped her wand a few times anyways for good measure. She put her wand down and gave the incantation a try. Pedestis. "Ped-es-tis." Pause. "Pedestis, Pedestis, Pedestis." It seemed simple enough, but Hannah knew better than to think like that. Time and time again Transfiguration proved to not be simple.

Belle heard what the professor said. She copied down the spell in her notes.
SPOILER!!: Belle's notes

Pedestis- spell to use to make shoes.

When Belle copied it down. She wanted to practice saying the incantation and wand movement. Belle said.."Ped-es-tis....Pred-es-tis...Pedestis...Pedestis!" Belle was getting the hang of it. Then Belle heard the professor saying it is a simple tap. That should be easy to get the hang of it.

Modeling? Sarah had never modeled before and she did not like the idea of being a human mannequin. Yet she shrugged, one has to do what one has to do

Sarah thought that as there were two of them it was probably a pair. Like socks, shoes, earings, bangles... shoes would work better as it would be wierd to have socks without shoes!
SPOILER!!: MeredithRodneyMckay

"Shoes!

OOC: I'll answer any questions tomorrow. Those of you with none can start a bit of practice. ^__^

So it was shoes. Sarah's hand shot up, she would take notes later yet she had a pressing question on her mind. "why do we need two plates? Would one and duplicating charm not suffice" she asked

Okay, shoes seemed like they were going to be way harder. Pants and shirts were sort of loose and flowing. But shoes... they had to be molded exactly to your feet. Finding a comfortable pair of shoes was.. Well, it was practically impossible usually. But actually, he thought, this may be better. If I work at it hard enough, I can make something that is custom-made for my foot, so it will fit perfectly to my arches. Hmm. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all?

Right. Pedestis. Pao scribbled the incantation and wand movement into his notes. Then he grabbed his wand from inside his pocket and set out to practice the wand movement. This time it wasn't complicated like the other two, so he didn't need to spend long on it. Tap, tap. Tap, tap. Tap, tap. "Yeah, the incantation is definitely the harder part of this spell. Ped-es-tis. Ped-es-tis. Pedestis. Pedestis." At least it wouldn't be difficult to remember for exams. The word 'ped' sounded like the Italian word for foot, which was 'piede.'

Pao quickly set to work on actually applying the spell. With two purposeful taps, he said, "Pedestis," and waited for the morphing to begin. But it never did. "Oh, duh!" he said, smacking his forehead. He'd forgotten to visualize! He shot a sideways glance to see if his Captain had noticed his failure. Satisfied that she hadn't, he instead closed his eyes to visualize. Maybe gray... with yellow polka dots? He'd tried the polka dots on the pants and vetoed the idea, but maybe just a small amount on the shoes would work.

This time he was ready. "Pedestis," he articulated, giving the paper plates one tap each. Within five seconds, he had an exact replica on the desk of what was in his mind. "Sweet!" He was getting good at this!

But then he tried them on.

There was NO way those things were getting on his feet. Um, guess I didn't think on a big enough scale. The first year visualized once more, but this time imagined a much larger version. "Pedestis." After two taps, he watched as the plates turned into shoes.

"Bravissimo!" They were definitely much larger. Except.. "That is the ugliest puke yellow color I've ever seen." Time for another try.

He changed the color in his mental picture. Then, voicing the incantation, he moved his wand in two tapping motions. Once more he watched the white paper plates turn dark and bulk up. He could feel it: this was going to be the time he got it right.

Pao tried on the pair of shoes. Hmm. Reasonably comfy.. He wiggled his toes. Enough room so my toes aren't squished. He pressed his thumb down onto the toe of the shoe. There's still some extra length there for when I grow. And best of all, the gray with yellow polka dots didn't look too shabby! I can't believe it, but I think I got the shoes done on the third try! A wide grin broke across his face. He had definitely progressed this year. His family would be proud.

She ignored Kurumi for the moment, not out of rudeness but because she was pretty sure that if she attempted to multi-task, Vivi would end up with shoes that didn't fit or that were not remotely shoe-shaped. Neither of those options was acceptable to her.

She put her wand first to one plate and then the other, speaking the incantation "Pedestis" as she did so. The plates rolled up on themselves and began to shift and change outward to make objects much more suited to feet than mere plates. When they were finished, the galoshes weren't as tall as she would have liked, nor as thick, but they were black and rubber and just about the right size for her feet.

"You certainly won't fall because of those shoes," Vivi finally turned to Kurumi and eyed the flip-flips. They weren't nearly as dressy as what Kurumi had made, but the girl was obviously very concerned about falling. "You won't fall. Be brave about your shoe selection... at least for the chance to practice complicated magic." Ravenclaw has spoken.

DaniDiNardo 11-10-2012 08:38 PM

There wasn't really any reason to practice the wand movement for this one seeing as all she had to do was tap the thing meaning she could go on with the pronounciation for a bit longer. After another five minutes though her mouth started getting tired of the same word. This meant it was time to practise the spell itself!

She cleared her throat.

"Right then."

First she would need to think of a design. It wouldn't be anything all highly glammed up because those kinds of shoes were hard to run around and cause mischief in. While she thought of the perfect shoes she idly tapped one of the plates and muttered, "Pedestis." just to see if it would work. Looking down at then end product she nodded contemplatively. It wasn't anything like what she wanted BUT it did give her an idea.

"Reverto."

Okay. Now she could try for real.

FearlessLeader19 11-11-2012 05:16 AM

Right. Now to transfigure the plates into a pair of footwear. Jory decided a pair of simple, white sneakers would do well with the outfit he had created before.

He held out his wand and tapped on each plate confidently. "Pedestis!'' he said. To his delight, the plates began to stretch and take the form of the white sneakers he had in his head. The last thing to form on both were their laces. "Perfect!'' he though.

Alright since Belle got the hang of saying the name of the incantation and doing the wand movement, Belle decided to go into action. Belle had to imagine what kind of shoes she wanted to transfigure. Belle thought of basketball shoes with style. She thought those would be cool.

"Alright Belle you can do this." she told herself. "It is all about concentration and confidence." Belle took a deep breath and went onto the paper plates. Belle knew the picture in her mind. "Pedestis?" Belle said to second guess herself. Yup that was right.

Belle said, "Pedestis!" and tapped the paper plates. Both of them. They were turning into a basketball shoes! Belle was excited! She did it! She actually liked the shoes, but they weren't her size. Maybe she would work on that.

Kurumi picked up one of the white sandals and slipped off one of her shoes so she could test the size of it. Wiggling her toes a little to test out their durability, Kurumi was somewhat satisfied with them and was about to show them off to Vivi again when the Ravenclaw spoke. "I was just starting out with something simple," she explained as she slipped the sandal off and set it back on the table with the other. Wand out, Kurumi cast Reverto and returned the sandals back to being two paper plates. "Being brave doesn't mean I have to transfigure heals, does it?"

Yes, we were somewhat looking for approval from you on this Vivi.

"I was thinking black shoes anyway." Be brave...that meant heels. Kurumi could sense it. Tapping her wand against her bottom lip, Kurumi tried to think of an image of a pair of black shoes that were not just flat boots. Kurumi wore boots. She likes boots. Fancy shoes were sort of out of her element. Tapping the plates, Kurumi cast Pedestis again and made a pair of simple black sandals this time - mostly just to prove to herself that she could do color - and then reverted them back to plates just as Milton spoke.

"Of course you don't, that would be barbaric," she responded with a small smirk.

Attention back to her plates, Kurumi tapped them both again. "Pedestis." This time the plates began to blow up like a balloon and morph into a taller shape than they had with the sandals until there was eventually a pair of black heels on the table. Wrinkling her nose and scratching her arms like mad now, Kurumi sort of sunk into her seat. Brave enough?

But, then her thoughts wandered to fake Ravenclaw and, just to be safe, she figured she might as well ask Vivi. She didn't fancy Milton gnawing on her arm. She had already had Elijah gnaw on her this term, she wasn't looking to have someone else do it. Kurumi turned to Vivi and nodded her head in Milton's direction. "Milton says he doesn't bite, it is true?" she asked rather point blank.

Wait...why would Vivi know this? Was it a Quidditch thing?

Steelsheen 11-11-2012 08:14 AM

When he finally got comfortable with the spell and the wandstroke (which of course was simple enough), he focused on one of the paper plates and tapped the surface gently "Pedestis..." The plate spun its its place and he paused, watching to see what kind of shoe it would turn into...

..........
.....
..

.... Just his luck. It didnt turn into a shoe. Instead the Ravenclaw found himself staring at half a pair of white socks.

Talikins 11-11-2012 09:59 AM

Little bit of Pao too. ^_^

Captain? Was that someone refering to her? The voice did sound oddly familiar.

The red head turned a little to see that her amazing keeper had taken a seat beside her. "Hey, Pao." She gave him a smile and then nodded at him. Yep. It seemed like a fashion show was exactly what was install for today. "Seems like it." Before she could say much more on the matter, the Professor began to speak and so Ness turned her attention towards the lesson.

So these paper plates were to transfigure one last thing? Shoes that was. Well of course you needed those to complete an outfi, unless you wanted to walk barefoot. The red head nodded, and then when the Professor finished her instructions, she looked at Pao for a moment. He was already working on his spell. Good then, if he could have done it then surely so could she.

Pedestis! Sounded a bit like a anti-pest spray or something to that effect. Not too hard to remember though. "Pedestis! Pedestis!" she repeated it over and over again, wanting to make sure she would say the right thing later on.

As for the wand movement it looked pretty simple.

Right now all she needed to do was picture a shoe sort in her mind and then she'd be ready.

MagicalWorld 11-11-2012 10:16 AM

Dylan practiced a bit! Pedestis..Pedestis..Pedestis..Pedestis.. He said over and over in his head! and some more

Pedestis..

Pedestis..

Dylan then looked at his two plates and wondered what kind of shoes he wanted.. well the ones to go with his lion costume were already with the costume but perhaps something of his house? like gryffindor shoes or something? ok so thats what he would try... he put the image of what he wanted in his head and then pointed at one of the plates but before that he looked around to see if anyone was trying to change the shoes and saw that they were.. ok image back in mind and change "Pedestis" he said then quickly pointing at the other plate he then waited to see what would happen as they changed

Once they did he got a frown on his face THAT was NOT what he had wanted!! he had ended up with these big shoes he had no idea what they were he had never seen them before in his life!! He was not wearing those! Besides they looked like they could fit a troll.. or maybe they were even too big for a troll.. maybe.. a giant!! Yeah!! they were big enough to fit giant!! wouldnt it be cool to meet a giant or a troll.. mm... ohh! back to these boring shoes he thought to himself. "Reverto" he said pointing at the large shoes and watched them change back. Good thing he had been practicing with his dad on these 'basic' spells as he called them.

Laura wasn't sure if she would like this or not but she was going to try. "Pedistec" Laura wasn't sure how to say the incantation. "President?" Laura knew that didn't sound right. "Primester?" Laura was really confused now, she really wanted to know how to say Pedestis. "Professor how do you say the incantation?"

Kimothy 11-11-2012 02:01 PM

After practicing the incantation and mastering it, Kat took out her wand. This won't be much of a problem after all. It was quite easy, the movement and the incantation. Perhaps Kat would master this very well soon. With practice of course, she doesn't expect herself to be perfect in everything. Maybe high standards, yes. But let's get to the point now...

Kat thought she was ready now. Grabbing a paper plate, Kat thought first of what kind of shoes she'd want. Maybe heels? But she'll reserve that for later. This was her first attempt though... so what about black flats? Yeah, totally black flats. Kat liked those types of shoes and she is currently in love with the different types. Shoe-a-holic. "Pedestis," Kat said while simultaneously tapping the paper plate AND thinking of the black flats she wanted. She saw the paper plate go narrower and grew a bit in height. And the color turned to black. Oooohh. It turned out well. Kat's black flats were obviously a success. Maybe she should do heels next, or something more complex? She loves challenge.

Seriously?! There was No WAY she was going to go near that thing just so she could push it down a runway! NOPE. Nuh-uh. It might have tried something funny. Mmmmm. "On second thought I think I'll model." Anything would be more 'fun' than getting eaten.

Isabelle smiled warmly. Alexa wasn't ready to overcome her irrational fear of the mannequin. That was okay. She could model instead. "Good. Thank you."

Wow, she really didn't want to model, eh?

Isabelle raised an eyebrow at the Gryffindor prefect. "Do you know how to do that, Kurumi? It's just that, I'd really rather you all concentrated on the one spell for this lesson. Perfect that. Besides, the mannequins are on wheels." So you know, wheel them down the runway and all that.

Laura was really confused now, she really wanted to know how to say Pedestis. "Professor how do you say the incantation?"

Socks?.... Seriously??

The Ravenclaw's lips wrinkled to the side. Obviously he gotten so used to the magic that made clothes despite blabbering out the new spell his focus was still on the lessons from the previous classes. With a silent huff he reverted the sock into back into a paper plate, then tapped his wand unconsciously a against his fist. He has to FOCUS on getting those shoes done...

He traded the paper plate for the other, thinking that maybe he would have better luck with the other plate even if they look completely identical. With another decided tap on the plate Vickers uttered the spell "Pedestis!...."

The paper plate spun in place again but this time it started to bend and bubble and morph into something that resembled a large potato, then finally settling down into what looks like a white shoe. With a wide grin Vickers looked at his new creation for a second before reaching out and grabbing it....

--- and the shoe promptly crumpling in his grasp.

Now that she felt like she had the wand movement and incantation down it was time to give it a go. Only what did she want her shoes to look like exactly? She knew that she wanted them to be black so it would match her outfit just right. To have heels or not to have heels... that was the question. She thought that ladies looked nicer with heels, but she wasn't sure if she would be able to accomplish the whole heel thing considering how much trouble she had with her shirt and skirt. Hannah was up for the challenge though.

She thought about what she wanted the shoes to look like. She wanted them all black with a two inch heel and better make them closed toe. Yup. That would look nice. She concentrated on the shoes as she stared at the plates. "Pedestis." she said while she followed it with a tap of her wand. The plates jumped a little but other than that she had absolutely no results!

DecemberMoon 11-11-2012 06:30 PM

She should've known they'd be making shoes for their outfits at one point. It was lucky that the spell seemed to know that the shoes needed to mirror each other with their curvatures. One for left and one for right. She thought if they just used a duplicating charm, which she didn't know yet anyway, they would literally end up with two left or two right feet. She giggled to herself about that idea, seeing students trying to fit their feet into the wrong shoes.

She decided she might as well give it a go, since she didn't think anyone really knew how the spells knew what to do. She thought back to her outfit thus far. Hmmm, long navy tunic....rust colored leggings... But what should she make for her shoes? Boots. Yes, I think boots are in order. Just little shin high ones. Brown, definitely. She tried to picture some boots in her mind's eye as she tapped each paper plate and said that incantation.

"Pedestis!" The plates wobbled and warped into sagging brown boots. The material was thin and they were lacking texture and definition everywhere, like a drawing yet to be completed. Well, that was no good. She changed them back to plates with a simple "Reverto." Maybe I should get a more specific idea in my head this time.

After taking an extra second to think of a nice pair of shoes she raised her wand again. Pedestis--hey is that a spot?" A spot on her plate--BOOOM!

O___O

Lex jumped back when the plate suddenly burst into exploded and ended up knocking right into a girl close by. She whirled around from the mini explosion to see who she might have bumped into just now and sighed a little when she realized it was only another first year. "Sorry about that. I didn't mess up your work, did I?" Lex herself hated when people ruined her work...even if it was just an accident. Accidents didn't make things any less annoying, ever.

She turned to the front of the room again, cringing a bit when she caught sight of her mannequin. The headless thing was staring at her. Like, really it was. Lex quickly averted her gaze. "Professor, can I have another plate please?" That one was done for. Yup.

As Belle made successfully Basketball shoes, she wanted to do a challenge. Belle did not know what to do. Hmm did she want to something fancy? I think she did. Belle focused on what kind of shoes she wanted. She did really like those high heels she wore to her friends christmas party. Belle pictured those and decided to do those.

She said "Reverto!" and reversed the spell. But uh oh...the paper plates were missing. Belle went to the front of the classroom and got two more paper plates. She was glad the professor had extra. She took a deep breath and decided to do it. Belle concentrated and said with confidence..."Pedestis!" she said and tapped her two plates. They were forming into flats? Belle smiled and thought this could do. They were even her size this time. She might wanna wear them. "Professor can we keep the shoes that we made?" Belle asked.

Minerva listened to the students answer what they might be doing. Most of the students like herself thought they would be making shoes. Yes, that sounded like the best answer to her. When Professor Magnus said they would be making shoes Minerva smiled. That sounded fun and what a great spell to know.

Then Minerva paid attention as Magnus showed them the spell and the wand movement. So the movement was pretty easy, just as her hair it was just a tap on the plates. She felt she could do that pretty well. Now for the spell.. Saying it in her head a few times she wanted to make sure it was correct, "Pedestis!". Once she said it in her head she started trying it out loud. "Pedestis!" "Pedestis!" Now that she felt she had that down she tried to figure out what she wanted to try, probably something simple at first.

Isabelle smiled at the girl, before flicking her wand out again and resting her free hand across her knees.

Okay, so shoes it was. Sierra felt a little bit better about paper plate shoes than she did about garbage bag shirts and pants. Sierra turned her attention to the professor as she detailed the spell. Hmm. Boots? Sierra thought a pair of boots might go well with the shirt and jeans she'd transfigured for the first two homework assignments. She wasn't all into fashion like most of her peers were, but she did like to look nice.

As always, Sierra decided to practice the spell before actually launching into a real version of it. She flicked out her wand and held it out before her. She starting tapping it toward the left, as it she was making one shoe, and then to the right, as if she was making the other shoe. She did this several times before she thought she had an actual feel for the movement. Then she tried the incantation. "Pedestis!" she said. "Pedestis!"

Turning back to his not-so-shoe-like-shoes, Milton got back to work. "Reverto," he muttered and watched them turn back into paper plates. Okay. Deep breath. And concentration. Milton thought harder and more specifically about what he wanted them to look like. He needed some new running shoes, anyway. His were getting kind of old. Finally, he tapped the paper plates. "Pedestis." Slowly, but surely, the plates began to transfigure back into the shoe shape, turned black, added some shine until they finally looked like this. Milton grinned. "Not bad."

Vivi was in the middle of pulling on the rain boots (for stomping around purposes, of course), when the exchange between Milton and Kurumi caught her attention. She leaned forward to glance past Kurumi and focus on the Ravenclaw captain, who earned himself a smirk.

"He's never bitten me, but I'm a very small sample population. I couldn't possibly tell you if Milton has never bitten anyone. But I doubt he'll bite you. I believe his mouth is occupied with other things. Like talking too much." She made a face at him before smiling at Kurumi, and then Vivi resumed shoving on the boots.

Too big, but only just a bit, and they were just begging for a puddle. She hoped they'd last in something like that... paper in water seemed like a bad experiment. She tugged the boots off again and cast a Reverto, reverting her lovely new boots back to basic paper plates.

"I like the black sandals... I wasn't trying to imply you needed to wear fancy heels. Maybe some low-heeled boots would work with the outfit you've designed."

Talikins 11-12-2012 10:39 AM

Simple shoe for now, and then a more difficult shoe for later. The red head pictured a simple plain black ballerina pump and was then ready to perform her spell. She put her full focus on the image in her head and uttered the incantation. "Pedestis" she said and maybe a little too harshly tapped the paper plates.

The magic still took it's course, and Nessie watched with a pout on her face as the plates turned into two black shoes, or more like two baby black shoes. They were way too small, probably wouldn't even fit one of the firsties near by.

Well then best she retried the spell. "Reverto." She watched as the paper plates returned back to normal and closed her eyes trying to focus once more. This wasn't so hard, she could do this!

"Pedestis!"
she repeated once more and lightly tapped the two paper plates again. This time her results were simple yet perfect.

Maybe to to try a little more difficult pair of shoes now?

But if it's possible to use one spell for something, why would you want to use two?" she asked, tilting her head to the side and smiling.

Sarah nodded. "Thank you" she said. She wondered what one woud do if they only had one plate.
Now the spell, Sarah wrote Pedestis down in her notebook.
Now she was going to try the incantation.
"Pe-desk-is" she attempted. Wrong. "PPPPPedestis" she tried again, yet her mouth got caught on the P. She decided to try again -this time thinking slowly and trying to pronounce each sylabble. "Pedestis"
Great, that was awesome. Now she would say it three times "Pedestis,Pedestis,Pedestis

So it was shows that they were transfiguring. It made sense, she had her awesome hipster oufit and shoes were the last piece of the puzzle, but what kind.
Oichi though for a moment and though with the tye dye shirt and faded blue jeans rainbow sneakers would be perfect. She grabbed a plate and took out her wand, "Pedestias", Oichi said with a wave of her wand and the plate began to expand and into and slowly change form into black goop that had a the tiniest resembance to shoes. I definately did something wrong "Reverto", Oichi said with a wave of her wand the goop shoes formed back into the plate. That was a close one, atleast I managed to revert it back into a plate. Oichi chuckled lightly as she mentally prepared herself to to try again.

Anna Banana 11-12-2012 10:19 PM

...and that was enough practice on the incantation and the wand movement. It was really fairly simple, to be honest. a simple tap on a paper plate couldn't be too hard. Sierra was set on having those boots the professor mentioned, and she wouldn't settle for anything less. It would take some time, though, because none of this transfiguring ever came the first time for Sierra.

Sierra retrieved a set of paper plates and placed them on the floor in front of her. She stared at them for a while in order to get a good mental picture of what she wanted them to look like. The boots were a tan color and stretched up toward her knees. Only, they didn't quite reach her knees. They just came close. There was fur lining the insides of them and buttons on the side. Yes, these were the boots she needed.

Eliza was focusing on the details of her next spell when her concentration was broken by someone bumping into her side. What the?

"Ow!" she muttered. She looked around to see who had bumped into her. It was the little lion first year that she'd seen around. Alexa? She steadied herself and brushed bits of torn paper plate off of her robes.

"Oh, that's okay." She looked at her own plates. "Nah, they're okay. I was just trying to give it another go. My first ones were tragic!" She laughed.

"What are yours going to be?" she asked once the girl had gotten new plates to work with.

Eliza turned back to her own and thought about the boots she wanted again. Shin high...brown leather...laces...structured...thick sole, good for walking... She placed one foot on each plate like the professor had shown. "Pedestis!" she cast again at each plate, tapping them.

The leather started reaching up her ankles, going higher as the laces sprouted and criss-crossed up. She must have had her feet too close together when she said the incantation because the leather started to meld together into one weird boot. She wobbled on her one leg, flailing to keep her balance. She started giggling. Oh, someone just has to see this before I change these back!

She looked back over to Alexa, "Hey Alexa, look!" She hoped the Gryffindor would think the boot was as funny as she did.

MudInMyBlood 11-13-2012 12:32 AM

Yes she was definitely going to have to give it another go considering she had managed to get her plates to do absolutely nothing the first time around. Although maybe if she did stand in the plates it would help her. It couldn't hurt, that was for sure.

She went and stood on the plates. Merlin, she felt stupid but she would do what she had to, to get the job done. She tried once again to concentrate on how she wanted her shoes to look. "Pedestis! she said while she tapped the plate. She watched as the plates formed on her feet. At least this time she had actually managed to do something but it wasn't what she wanted at all. She took a deep breath in and put the plates back to normal once more.

Down the end there?

Lex looked passed the the Professor to where she might have been referring to as down there. Surely she didn't mean where those vicious, man-eating mannequins were. Noooo, she couldn't possibly have been sending her down there just to get some plates. This was the part where she gave the Professor the benefit of the doubt. The woman wasn't evil afterall.

Luckily she saw two idle ones sitting closer to the front of the walk way. Did she care whether they belonged to anyone or not? Nope. Better they face those creatures than her.

"Thanks Professor." Now she could get back to work.

Good. So she hadn't ruined the girl's hard work...or...er...not hard work if she said it was tragic. She gave a little chuckle inspite of herself.

"It can't be any more tragic than mine--they blew up." GRIN. Sure it wasn't a good thing that her work had gone up in flames but now that she thought about it it was pretty neat. It just meant she could blow stuff up and that idea appealed to her more than anyone would ever know. Seeing things go boom was like epic in her book. Yup.

"Mine are gonna be a pair of blue converse if I can. Anything else would be too annoying to run through Diagon Alley with." And walking through Diagon Alley wasn't an option either. Not even a consideration.

When the girl got back to work she figured she'd do the same--but not before giggling a little at the Professor. The woman had obviously been telling a joke and the right thing to do was giggle once it was executed. Now you see, just now she blew up her plates. Why on earth would she put her feet on more plates and try her luck again??? See? Funny joke. Good one professor.

Ahem. Placing both on her table again she tried the spell once more. "Pedestis!" Tap. She watched the plate moving and narrowing but scowled when it turned into nothing more than a floppy looking shoe that sagged about. Mm.

She was about to scowl when the girl's voice caught her attention. Lex turned to her with slightly widened eyes. As far as she was concerned the two had never spoken before so how'd she know her name...she wouldn't question it. Instead she focused on the shoes...shoe? shoes? Meh.

"Cooool! how'd you get it to do that??" She sooo had to teach her.

Eliza laughed at the mention of Alexa's exploding plates. "True. But at least yours were exciting!" She listened to the girl talk about her intended shoes. "Converse are always pretty good action shoes," she said with a smile.

She kept wobbling on one foot, or two feet in one boot rather, and grinned when Alexa saw them. Good, she doesn't think I'm a weirdo for showing her. I thought she'd like them! She held her arms out for balance as she explained what happened. "Well, I don't know if this always happens, but I think my feet were really close together when I said the spell. Maybe my plates were touching?" She wasn't really sure herself. "Or maybe it was just a funny accident!" She looked down at her big boot and cast "Reverto!" She nearly lost her balance once both of her feet were freed and stood upon plain plates again.

She looked back up at Alex and said, "I'm Eliza by the way." She held out her hand to shake with. "I kind of um, well I've heard your name here and there around school. Nothing bad really!" That sounded so sketchy, Eliza... "I just heard...is it true you got expelled or detention or something?" Maybe she shouldn't ask about other peoples' business, but she was nothing if not curious.

It seemed like a fashion show was exactly what was install for today. "Seems like it." Before she could say much more on the matter, the Professor began to speak and so Ness turned her attention towards the lesson.

So she thought they'd be having a fashion show, too? Rats. "Er... you think Magnus will make us model? I'm a bit, er... clumsy. But just on the ground, don't worry!" He really didn't want her to think he was incapable of playing Quidditch anymore. After all, he seemed to be perfectly fine in the air, definitely able to balance.

"Now, this spell creates the shoes, or boots, from the sole up. Which means, if you want them to fit your feet perfectly, you can stand on the plates and do the spell so that they encase your feet and stand more chance of being the right size. Like so..."

Isabelle repeated the incantation, tapping the plates as she'd shown them before. Just like the first time the plates started to change colour and shape, growing around her feet into a pair of shoes similar to the ones she had taken off moments before. Once finished, she looked up and grinned. "Those of you that remember when we made the photo frames a little while ago, well the principal is very much the same as that." A few of them would know what she meant. "So if you feel confident enough, why not give it a go?"

Okay, he already had some pretty nifty shoes. But... couldn't he do another pair? You know, for the colder days. Although, when he first started this project, he was making a spirit outfit to wear at Quidditch matches. Now, he was on the team and had to wear his uniform robes. So actually, he wasn't going to use this outfit. Shoot! That's disappointing. But he could still try some harder shoes.

Actually, if he was honest with himself, Pao was beginning to wonder if he'd just gotten lucky with the whole 'only taking three tries' thing. In fact, he was almost sure of it. He put the shoes back on and wiggled his toes. Nope! Still good! Let's just take a quick stroll around..

RiiiIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiip!

The shoes burst apart at the seams. Pouty lip sticking out, he whined, "Shucks! I knew it was too good to be true!" Back to the ole drawing board! Or imagining board, rather.

He found an extra pair of paper plates and brought them over to his spot next to Renesmee. With a furtive look to check if other students were doing the same thing, he placed the plates on the floor. He was pretty sure this was about to get awkward, seeing as how he'd have to bend down and practically touch his toes to do the wand movement. Stepping on to the dinnerware, the Hufflepuff pictured the same thing in his mind as last time, but perhaps somehow more well-put-together. Whatever THAT looks like in my mind's eye. He cleared his throat and prepared to cast the spell.

SPOILER!!: Eliza

That's right, it was exciting and of course converse were good action shoes. Lex liked this girl, she made sense; Alexa sense and that was the hardest kind of sense to make. Kinda dangerous too if you didn't know what you were doing.

Oooooohhh.

Okay. She took it back. This girl made no sense at all and she no longer wanted to learn. This Eliza girl was one of the people who actually took the Professor's joke seriously and tried the spell with her feet on the plates. SIGH. Then people called her a risk taker. She would never understand. "Well aren't you the brave one." She muttered with just a hint of sarcasm. Sure she was all for trying new things but not when she could come so dangerously close to losing a limb. Maybe she'd try once she was more sure of her casting ability. Yeah...she could wait 'til then.

Lex nodded slowly, giving the girl a slightly suspicious look. So that's how she knew her name--Expelled?!?!? "Um, no." Just no. "I didn't get expelled." Obviously, or I wouldn't be here; think Ravenclaw girl. "but I did get detention and a suspension shortly afterwards." With that she forced a smile. It was still a fairly touchy subject for her and bringing it up made it hard for her to be nice.

Then she turned to her failed shoe again. "Reverto." Shifting it just a bit she aimed her wand and tried again. "Pedestis." Tap. Her eyebrow perked up when the plate changed into a seemingly perfect converse. She didn't even know whether to believe it or not. These things had a way of disappointing her.

Mostly Ness, but anyone is welcome!

Two taps and Pedestis. Right, here goes!

Full of enthusiasm, Logan Mancini bent down quickly toward the floor in order to tap the plates. In the process, he hit his hand on the table next to him, which threw him off balance. Flailing his arms, he shouted, "Wo--, W--, WOAH!" The Keeper's feet tried to spread to keep him upright, but the opposite was accomplished. Feet still planted firmly on the plates, they slipped out from underneath him and he fell flat on his bum with a loud THUMP.

His face was officially as scarlet as possible.

"Oohhhh," he moaned, rolling onto his side to assess the damage. That's gonna bruise in the morning, alright. He desperately hoped his Captain hadn't seen THAT. Next time, he was going to sit on a bench and try the spell.

He finally managed to get up, face still burning hot with embarrassment. Pao retrieved the plates from where they'd gone flying halfway across the room. This time, he set them right next to his seat and then SAT DOWN. No more mishaps.

Even though the fall had lost him several minutes, he still took longer than usual to visualize this time, mostly so he'd stop thinking about the incident and get the spell right. He'd already learned that he couldn't do transfigurations without lots and lots of concentration. Okay. Grey. Yellow polka dots. Black laces. Grey. Yellow polka dots. Black laces. Grey...

Repeating this mantra had the desired effect and within minutes the boy was back to normal. He leaned over and tapped each plate once while saying, "Pedestis." Then he eagerly watched as the plates molded to his feet. The end product fit his feet well and had an excellent level of comfort. "But you're ugly," he said in a matter-of-fact voice. He was having the same problem with the colors again. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

Bazinga 11-13-2012 02:12 AM

Minerva listened to Professor Magnus talk about how to get the shoes to fit. So you just put the plates under your feet. That was interesting, but it made sense. Of course it made sense. She looked at her plates and picked them up. She went to put them down to stand on them, but picked them back up. Maybe I should just try the spell first. Let's make sure I can get it, Minerva thought.

She thought about what she could make. Something simple at first, just to know she could do the spell. Yes like just white tennis shoes. That seemed easy enough, right? Thinking of the spell Minerva tapped her wand to each plate, focused on seeing white tennis shoes and spoke, "Pedestis" One plate jumped and changed to the shoe, while the other just moved a bit without changing. Minerva frowned, well that wasn't what it was suppose to do. "Reverto" She watched disappointed as the plates went back to plates.

Kurumi ventured another glance at Milton and her eyes lowered to his mouth. Milton did have nice teeth, as far as teeth went that is, so maybe he would be the sort to bite people just to show them off? At least he hadn't bitten Vivi. That might have earned him a hex or two.

Merlin. Kurumi was becoming Selina in a way. Heh. She would have to tell her best friend about this later.

Eyes back on the shoes she had transfigured now, Kurumi gave Vivi a small shrug. "Two fwoopers with one stone, right? Stretch myself magically and, erm, physically," she replied with a small laugh. And BOY was that a stretch right there. "Boots might work...but, I dunno. I was studying fashion magazines before class and the sort of dress I made always seems to be paired with more of these sorts of shoes. Would boots be too fashion forward?" Oh, look at her using fancy fashiony words!

"I haven't learned that particular advanced transfiguration spell yet," she said, still feeling slightly nervous about this whole runway thing. She didn't really want to be on the runway to PUSH her dummy either. She sort of just wanted to stay away from the runway if at all possible. But if she was going to have to be on there to push it anyway...might as well just wear the dress and give it a go, right?

She WAS a Gryffindor after all. Bold. Daring. Part house elf.

"I would like to learn that particular spell though....but some other time is starting to seem more appropriate." This was said with a little more humor to the seventh year's voice while also hinting at perhaps a private tutoring session? You know, just to get started on learning the spell because it was rather advanced.

Kurumi then slipped off her school shoes and stood on her paper plates, feeling them crunch under her body's weight and then pointed her wand downwards. She remember the photo frame lesson - and more importantly the homework where she had given a photo to Selina. In fact, she got a little too into her memories that she began to trace in the air the outline of the paper plates with her wand and instead of the spell they were working on at present.... "Statua Habitum."

The edges of the paper plates rolled up and morphed into what could only be described as the photo frame version of the black shoes Kurumi had transfigured moments earlier. This would have been a nice thing...had she been wanting to transfigure photo frames...but since shoes were clearly on the agenda the Gryffindor simply blushed when she looked down and saw her feet encased glass.

Milton turned in his seat to watch the professor as she gave them the next set of instructions. So THAT's how you got them to be the right size. Huh. After her demonstration, Milton set his paper plates on the floor and stood on them. "Pedestis," he said, and after a moment, began to watch them transform into the shoes he had envisioned before. Once it was complete, Milton rolled them and stretched them to see if they would hold. And they seemed to be working just fine. "Well, fancy that. I made shoes." And he was rather proud of himself.

"As for boots... fashion forward or not, you need to wear whatever makes you comfortable. I don't think anyone is going to write to the fashion police about us today," she tossed her plates on the floor and stood, placing one foot on each.

Vivi slid her feet around on the paper plates as she considered what type of shoes she wanted to do next. Probably something less whimsical and more along the lines of what she wanted to wear with her mannequin's outfit. At least she wasn't afraid of being... what was it Kurumi called it? Fashion forward? She was going with boots.

"Pedestis," she murmured, pointing her wand at each plate. The paper wrapped around her bare feet and began to shape into black ankle boots with low heels, although the sudden appearance of the heels pitched her forward and Vivi nearly fell. Whoops!

Talikins 11-13-2012 10:51 AM

Pao, he's too adorbs. xD

Make them model? She pouted at his question. It seemed like it was exactly that, that they would be doing today, Modeling. Exciting! Okay not really, more like frightening and humiliating. "I think we are modeling today." she said as she continued to pout. "I can be a little clumsy at times too, but I can maybe ask Professor Magnus if I can help you walk?" But then that could have been a bad idea too. What if she ended up falling on top of him? The thought of that made her shudder.

Back to work though, she'd worry about the modelling later. "Reverto." she switched her shoes back to paper plates.

Floral shoes could work? Mehh, that seemed hard though. How about heels? Or wedges? Yep! Those would be a challenge, but hopefully not to hard.

Before the red head could brainstorm much more, she heard a strange ripping sound coming from Pao's feet. She turned her attention that way and almost burst into giggles. She refrained herself though, because it was after all rude to laugh at people and Pao really was trying hard. "I think you're doing not so bad." she tried to encourage him as she watched him stand on two new plates.

Renesmee turned back to her own paper plates and went back into thinking. So this time she wanted platform wedges, plain black with maybe an open toe and some of the foot showing. Yep, that sounded quite pretty for a shoe.

"Pedes..." she began but paused midway to see that Pao had just fallen flat. Nothing came out her wand which was clearly because she never went on with the wand movement. Instead she looked down at Pao on the floor. "You alright?" she asked and giggled just a bit, because she couldn't help it. He was just SO cute...and so were his cheeks.

Merlin! Why did all of her quidditch players have such adorable cheeks? She shook the thought out her head and tried to go back to her shoes. Right wedges, black, open toe and shows a little bit of the foor. "Pedestis!" she tapped the paper plates and watched as the magic took it's place.

Perfect! Her results were just like she pictured them, she was improving and learning spells quicker than before.

Now something possibly even more complicated?

Kurumi was just about to wave her wand at her, erm, frames when she caught Milton giving her a look again and she unfortunately made eye contact with him just as he bared his teeth and started acting like some sort of wolf. Well, it was what came to mind with him snapping his jaw like that at her. "It's not a full moon, you know," she said with a small huff and turning awaaaay from Milton.

Blushing now, Kurumi sort of laughed at her little mishap. "Yeah...got a little caught up with, um, remembering previous lessons," she giggled as she flicked her wand at the frames and reverted them back to paper plates. "Professor Magnus mentioned the lesson where we transfigured photo frames...I sort of got caught up in memories a little too much." Which was seeming to be a pattern recently. Thinking about the past and holding on to those memories and what not.

Her frames now reverted, Kurumi wiggled her toes and stretched her legs just a little. "Right....the point today is just to transfigure footwear anyway. We'll probably have the homework to make the final shoes...right?" Although...the whole runway thing was sort of throwing her. Still, Kurumi liked boots. She felt comfortable in boots. So boots it would be.

She would also use the proper spell this time too.

Looking at the plates again, Kurumi repeated the wand movement and incantation and then held her breath while things began to morph and take the shape of a pair of boots she had seen in one of the magazines...paired with a very VERY different sort of outfit. The good news? She could totally walk in these!

So they were gonna make their own shoes now! Great. Kat was excited for these. Kat stood up on the plates she had, all eager and excited. I was going to be cool, considering that it will perfectly fit their feet if she did it correctly. What would happen if it went wrong? FEET TRAPPED FOREVER?! Not cool at all.

Pointing her wand on the plates below her feet, Kat casted the spell. "Pedestis," she muttered and felt the plates enclose her feet inside it. All Kat could do was smile. And, TADAAAAA! The black ankle boots she placed her mind on was on her feet. Perfect. Maybe Kat should use these soon, they look glam.

After practicing the wand movement, Sarah decided to put the two together. She tapped the one plate and then the other and said 'Pedestis', thinking of a pair of fluffy slippers -well that was all that she could think of that did not contain a buckle. Sure enough the plates became some fuffy purple slippers - although they were very wide. "Reverto" Sarah casted and the plates came back into view.

Feeling more confident this time, Sarah repeated this spell and this time made black, patent leather Mary Jane flats. They looked really nice.

See THIS was why Selina loved Transfiguration. It taught her spells that saved her a ton of galleons on shoes and clothes. All she had to do was wave her wand and she could compose an entire outfit. The fact that stores were still in the world for witches and wizards baffled Selina. If she could just use this spell to make boots, she would totally do it like everyday. Or something like that. Then again, she wasn't sure she was creative enough to come up with her favorite types of shoes. And the mastery of some brands were amazing... she LOVED her converse. And this spell wouldn't make a converse shoe per say. Okay, maybe she would still shop. Merlin, and she thought she had figured out something ground breaking.

However, she did as she was told and stood on the plate. Taking a deep breath, she tried her hardest to concentrate on her task at hand. Once she felt prepared enough, she tapped the plate and uttered, "Pedestis!" The a vine, the shoe started to form around her foot, winding and binding around the sole of her feet. The fabric twisted and turned until finally she had a nice pair of brown boots. Hey there! THAT WAS BRILLIANT!

Well, that made him feel a bit better. He wasn't the only clumsy one! "Er, we'll see. Maybe she'll let us go in pairs?" Magnus was nice, she seemed like a Professor that would understand this insecurity. He just didn't want to have to announce it to the whole class.

After the ripping incident, he could tell that Ness was trying not to laugh. Actually, this helped. He let himself have a small chuckle. "Thanks," he said with a smile. "I know it doesn't look like it, but I've improved a lot this year!" And that was something he was very proud of. After all, he was only a first year. Pao watched her work out of the side of his vision. "You're doing brilliantly, too!" Except she actually was, unlike him.

And then the next thing he knew he was on the floor and she was asking him if he was alright. "Yeah, m'alright. Nothing wounded except my pride." He sighed. But once again, her giggling helped to lighten his spirit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His latest attempt had been less than fantastic. "Reverto," he said, performing the necessary wand movement. Once again he stood on two paper plates. Pao fixed the image in his mind once more. This time, he paid more attention to the specific colors he had in mind. NOT puke yellow, Mancini. Who wanted puke feet?
When he was ready, his left hand hoisted his wand into the air as he bent over to reach his feet. With two subsequent taps, he recited, "Pedestis." The plates rose up over his feet and began to darken. After several seconds had passed, he was left with a grey pair of sneakers. "Where are my yellow polka dots?!" This just didn't make sense.
He took off the shoes in frustration. That's practically all I focused on this past time! But then he saw it. "Inside?!?! What are they doing there?" Yes, his yellow polka dots were on the inside of the shoes. Eyes rolling, he once more reverted the shoes back to their original plate state.
"Now, this spell creates the shoes, or boots, from the sole up. Isabelle repeated the incantation, tapping the plates as she'd shown them before. A few of them would know what she meant. "So if you feel confident enough, why not give it a go?"
Sarah looked at the Mary Janes she had made and put them on. They were like surf boards to her narrow feet. Thankfully the teacher had a soloution. "Reverto" Sarah cast, making the plates themselves again. She then placed her stockinged feet onto he plate. Bending down to reach the plates, she tapped one and then the other and said, "Pedestis" she said thinking of a nice pair of hot pink ballerina flats. She felt herself rise and rise until she was about 3cm above the ground - only then did the balerina flats inclose around her. WHy on earth was the sole so high? She wondered. Which part of flats did it not understand.
"reverto" she said again and she lowered down to the ground. Now she was standing on plates again looking like a complete idiot - but then there were many like that around in Hogwarts...
"pedestis" she tried again, tapping one plate and then the other. hot pink ballerina flats were on the menu again. Thankfully it worked this time and they fitted well. Mind you - if Cinderella's slipper fitted so well, why did it fall off in the first place? That was left to be wondered about.
Laura looked at the Professor and sighed. "I can't do it Professor." Laura couldn't say the incantation. "Pedister." Nope that wasn't right. "Predister," Nope that wasn't right either. "President." Now that wasn't right at all. "Professor I can't say the incantation, it's really hard. "Primester?" Laura looked at her wand and sighed this was taking ages.
Hannah hated struggling with her work. Transfiguration had proved to be very difficult for her all year. She had to admit that in the end she had managed to make something that was pretty awesome in the end. Maybe that's what counted, but she still didn't like to struggle.
She stepped into the paper plates once more and concentrated on what she wanted. They were simple enough you know. It really shouldn't be that hard. She took a deep breath and tried it again. "Pedestis!" she said while she made the tapping motion with her wand. She watched as the shoes formed perfectly on her feet, but one had a heel and one was as flast as a pancake. Ugh! That was not going to cut it at all. "Reverto."
Belle was excited she was going to keep the whole outfit when she was done. She put her purple flats in her backpack for later. Then she saw the professor demonstrating how to make the shoes your shoe size. Belle wondered what she wanted. Well it is the spring time...maybe some cute boots? Belle knew which ones she wanted. She had them back home on the farm.
Belle was excited to do this. She already had her shoes off and she put her feet on the paper plates. She was closing eyes and imagining her shoes at home. She took a calming breath and said, "Pedestis!" and then her plates were forming and tingling around her feet. She was happy to see them forming. They were her old Cowboy Boots from back home! She was so excited. She squealed a little bit. She did not want to take them off.
Lex eyed the shoe sceptically. Her memory wasn't that bad, she remembered the homework and the lies the plastic bag had told; false promises that she'd done it well when in fact the texture was way off.
Dropping the shoe to the floor she decided to test it before wasting her time on the other plate. Shoving her foot into it she felt her feet going right through. Uh-huh. See? Paper thin. Yet another reason she would never appreciate this class. Everything in it lied. Picking up the torn shoe she placed it on the desk once more. "Reverto."
It seemed the plates were having the same kind of communication error. Mm. Much too lazy to go drawing again she simply pictured the shoes in her mind once more. This is where the wand and plates magically obtained the power to read minds so they could tap into her little thought process and get a good idea of where they were going wrong. Now were they all on the same page? Hmm?
Good 'cause she was ready to try again--but not before shooting the plate a little glare.
Oichi took a deep breath as she looked at the plates before her. She knew she could do this, she had the ability, she just had to believe it. She pt the plates on floor and steeped on them as the teacher reccomended. Okay, I want rainbow sneakers and I can make them Oichi waved her wand over the plates. "Pedestis", she felt the plates morph and slowly encase her feet and in time she felt like she was wearing sneakers. She looked down and saw she was now wearing rainbow sneakers. She felt elated. I did not!!!
Oooooohhh.
Okay. She took it back. This girl made no sense at all and she no longer wanted to learn. This Eliza girl was one of the people who actually took the Professor's joke seriously and tried the spell with her feet on the plates. SIGH. Then people called her a risk taker. She would never understand. "Well aren't you the brave one." She muttered with just a hint of sarcasm. Sure she was all for trying new things but not when she could come so dangerously close to losing a limb. Maybe she'd try once she was more sure of her casting ability. Yeah...she could wait 'til then.
Lex nodded slowly, giving the girl a slightly suspicious look. So that's how she knew her name--Expelled?!?!? "Um, no." Just no. "I didn't get expelled." Obviously, or I wouldn't be here; think Ravenclaw girl. "but I did get detention and a suspension shortly afterwards." With that she forced a smile. It was still a fairly touchy subject for her and bringing it up made it hard for her to be nice.
Then she turned to her failed shoe again. "Reverto." Shifting it just a bit she aimed her wand and tried again. "Pedestis." Tap. Her eyebrow perked up when the plate changed into a seemingly perfect converse. She didn't even know whether to believe it or not. These things had a way of disappointing her.
Have I done something wrong? she thought, puzzled by Alexa's comment about her being brave. "Oh, I thought that's what she said to do." She shrugged. "Guess I got lucky then, no exploding feet or anything." She chewed her lip, feeling really awkward when she saw how Alexa responded to how she knew her name. Oh, duh. Obviously she's not expelled, as in, forever. "Oh, right. Of course. I mean, I guess maybe they could take it back... Anyway, that's good, that you weren't...er aren't." She made a small smile in return. "Sorry, I shouldn'tve mentioned it." She looked back down to her plates, wishing they would just cooperate so she could feel some confidence again. "Well, congrats on being back." She tried to smile again at the girl. She thought she was fun to talk to so she didn't want to upset her. Maybe it'd be best if you just shut up now, she told herself.
She closed her eyes and pictured her boots. Placed her feet on the plates again - careful not to let them touch just in case, because she really did think she could do it safely, and cast the spell.
"Pedestis!" She concentrated hard until she felt the sturdy pressure of the shoes and heard the laces rustle into place with a slight tug. She opened her brown and green speckled eyes and smiled at what she saw. They look like real boots! She turned her feet on their edges to check both sides. Well, I mean I guess they are real. Kind of. She still couldn't get over the fact that they had come from simple paper plates, but she would just have to get used to the fact that magic worked in strange ways sometimes. Or all the time.
Ness!
Aaaaaand he was back to having his feet on top of paper plates rather than ensconced in comfortable spirit shoes. Fantastic. He glanced over at his Captain to gauge her progress. She seemed to be doing much better than he was, at least. But not surprising. She's a fifth year, after all. He didn't let it bother her. Pao turned his attention back to the task at hand.
Pao tapped his wand once on each plate. "Pedestis," he said. Yet again he watched with a fascinated smile. He loved Transfiguration, just seeing objects turning into other things. There was nothing else like it in the Muggle or magical worlds.
He pulled out of his reverie in time to see the transformation complete itself. "Okay, what do we have here?" The first year examined the sneakers. The outside was gray with yellow polka dots, just like he wanted. Good start for sure. He wiggled his toes. Mmmmm. Perfect fit! He was very happy with this pair. They would go well with the rest of his Puff Pride outfit for sure!
Pao turned to his Captain with a smile on his face. "Hey Ness, look at these! You like?"
Anna Banana 11-14-2012 01:52 AM
Sierra continued to stare at the paper plates as if they might just burst into a pair of boots simply by gaze alone. She was only trying to focus, though. She'd learned back in the first lesson of the term that even when she thought she was focusing enough, she still may need to focus even more. She remembered during the first lesson when she never could get her shirt quite right.
When she was finally ready to try the spell, she backed up and held her wand at the ready. She then stood over the first plate, placing her left foot right in the middle of it. Okay. Here goes nothing... With a tap toward the plate, she said, "Pedestis!"
DaniDiNardo 11-14-2012 03:32 AM
Before she cast the spell again she tapped the plates lightly. For all she knew they might have fallen asleep and simply weren't getting the message that they were supposed to stop being stupid so she could have her summer shoes.
Feeling satisfied that they may have woken up now she cleared her throat then attempted the spell once more.
"Pedestis!"
She watched with wary eyes as the plate did what it had done several times before; changing and twisting, then gave a little squeal when she saw just what she wanted. Wait...slowly she tried the shoe on and grinned when she realized that it wasn't about to fall apart. THANK MERLIN. Another couple tries and she might have just reverted to incendio. Just saying. Quickly she tried the spell on the next plate, her grin widening when this one did the same. Her shoes were ready! And no this did not mean she felt any more inclined to model but a girl had to do what a girl had to do.
SPOILER!!: Eliza
"But I guess you're right, you made it out without seriously injuring yourself so kudos to you." Or whatever it was people said when they congratulated others.
She eyed the girl, sizing her up as she stumbled over her own words. In her mind Lex was trying to figure out whether or not this girl was being intentionally annoying but then the nervousness spoke for itself. "Meh. It's fine, you can just stop mentioning it now." The conversation would go a lot better once she did but Lex hadn't the patience to wait for her to figure that out so..."Are you excited about the modelling we'll be doing later?" She wasn't but who knew, this girl might have been one of those girly girls who enjoyed that kind of stuff.
How?
She would never understand.
Eliza heard a strange squeal come from Alexa who was still next to her, so she turned to see what it was about. Did she set herself on fire? She didn't see any smoke or debris, so it could only mean that... Yep, she'd finished her shoes! "Hey, nice shoes!" she complimented her.
She went with the direction that the girl was steering the direction in, and thought about modeling for a moment. No, she wasn't really looking forward to it. She wasn't really dreading it either though. "It doesn't sound like my favorite thing, but I guess since everyone has to do it, it might not be so bad." She just hoped she wouldn't trip, or have to do some funny runway poses. "But walking around in front of everyone doesn't sound very fun. How about you?"
She wondered where she could store her boots she'd just made. It wasn't that she thought anyone would take them from her sleeping bag area in the Great Hall, but it would also be a little strange to start piling stuff in there. Guess we'll see how that works out later.
Pao! <3
Nod. Nod. "Yeah, maybe." It would be great if pairs were allowed. Hopefully less embarrassing to all of them, if they weren't completely on their own on the cat walk. "We'll just have to see." Because it was after all only happening at the end of the lesson, not now. Now they had their shoes to focus on.
Aww! It was so adorable how he told her that he had improved. She was sure he was telling the truth though, because the longer you've been doing magic the better you become. Or at least that was Nessie's experience when it came to spells. "Practice makes perfect." She gave him a small wink. "The more you practice the better you become, kiddo." Same applied to quidditch and almost everything really.
Those cheeks! Eepp...wait ..no..back to shoes.
As soon as Pao was up and alright, Ness looked once more at her now black heels. They were beautiful and Ness wouldn't mind wearing them at all, even though they did look a bit high. Sitting down, she took her school shoes off and put her newly made shoes on. She then tried to stand up.
WAY! TOO HIGH!
She felt like godzilla towering over innocent little people. Well then time to try again. The fifth year took her shoes off once more and turned them back into paper plates with a simple Reverto.
Before going back into the brain storming process she shot a quick look towards Pao wanting to see how he was doing. She burst into giggles again as she noticed his shoes had polka dots inside them, rather than outside. This kiddo was just too funny. He had been improving even now though, she'd give him that.
A completely new design began forming in her head. Brown shoes. Brogues, with a bit of a feminine design and maybe laces too. Yep that sounded not to difficult. Ness tapped the paper plates with her wand lightly and then whilst picturing her new idea of shoes she uttered the incantation. "Pedestis!"Aha! She had learned this spell well by now. The paper plates magically transformed into the perfect shoes she had pictured. She was ready now, and Pao seemed to be ready too.
"Those are awesome!"
she gave him a thumbs up and then a grin. "Are mine alright?" she raised them in the air for a short moment and then sat down again so she could put her new shoes on. They fitted perfect, they were just right.
Anna Banana 11-14-2012 04:50 PM
Just as she finished the spell work on the first plate, Sierra stepped off it then on to the second plate. She placed her other foot in the middle of the plate and then aimed her wand toward it. She again focused on what she hoped the shoes to look like. Boots, actually. She'd decided on boots to go with the outfit she'd already created.
With a good picture of the boots in mind, Sierra tapped her wand forward. "Pedestis!" she said. ...and now only time would tell if she'd done the spell correctly. She stood back and eyed the two plates, waiting to see what would come of them.
Practice makes perfect? Yeah, he'd heard that one before. A thought suddenly occurred to him. "Wait... so if I stop practicing.. I'll lose my ability? What am I supposed to do this summer when we aren't allowed to use magic?!" This. Was. A. Crisis.
Therefore it was all the more important that he focus now and try his hardest. Except... she was giggling. At him! What, I was just curious! No, he must focus! Just like Keeping. Block out the crowd noise. Okay, GO.
It must have succeeded somewhat because she gave her approval. "Thanks, I like them!" And hers? "Yeah, yours are good, too. I mean, I would certainly never wear them, but that's just cuz they're girl shoes. I mean, if I were a girl, I would totally love them! And... yeah." Time to stop digging himself into a hole now.
Bazinga 11-14-2012 05:51 PM
Minerva looked at that plates, so the first try did not go over so well.. Time for the second try. Still visualizing the same what tennis shoes, she tapped her paper plates. "Pedestis" This time the plates turned quickly into the white shoes she was hoping for. They were way to big, but she wasn't aiming to make the size at the moment just the item. "Reverto" She watched the plates turn back to normal and a smile jumped on her face. She knew what she was going to do next.
Slipping off her own shoes she wanted to make these fit. Minerva put her plates on the ground and stepped into them. Thinking about a white heel, nothing fancy, Minerva bent down and tapped the plates. "Pedestis!" She felt herself raise with the formation of the heel, but looked disappointed when she saw the shoe. It wasn't a plain white heel, it was a mix of the white tennis shoe and the heel. She had to admit it was a mistake, but they were a cute pair of shoes.
MudInMyBlood 11-14-2012 11:19 PM
She was going to get it right this time! she just had to. How many attempts was this for her again? Not that it should matter because she had honestly come along way, but it still didn't do much for her ego. At least the last time she had managed to get it to do something... not the right thing, but definitely something. That had to count for something right?
She once again stepped on top of the plates and thought about her perfect black heel. She decided to close her eyes to maybe help out with her concentration some. All she knew was that it sure couldn't hurt her at this point. "Pedestis!" she cried while making all of the right movements. She kept her eyes closed for a moment because if it didn't happen for her this time then she was likely to have a fit.
