The classroom is looking a little bigger than usual. That's so it can accommodate some extra items. Yes - you notice the chairs, desks, Professor and usual paraphernalia are not the only thing waiting for you upon entry. Stood next to each desk is a mannequin, with a name plate hung around it's neck and wearing a rubbish bag as if it were a shirt.
Professor Magnus is leaning against her desk waiting to welcome you in. Say hello, sit down, and feel free to write your name on the space provided.
CLASS HAS STARTED: Please do not announce your late arrival!
I wrote my name with my favorite quill, but the second i was done I was sketching away. My mannequin had to be fantastic yet not too frilly. Transfiguration just leaped up to my favorite class and everyone else was abuzz with energy. Who knew trash bags could make a classroom full people so excited?

"Okay. Welcome everyone to the first lesson of term. For those of you that don't know, my name is Professor Magnus, but I assume you do know this is Transfiguration class." After all, they'd read the notice on their common room boards, and made it to the right place.
Walking forwards slightly, Issy stopped just as she got to the desk of a Ravenclaw, and rested a hand on the shoulder of the mannequin stood by it. "Miss McGregory (prettyme99), I hope you don't mind if I borrow this for the demonstration in a moment." She hadn't bought her own in, there were enough around for her to use, and they weren't exactly small.
"As you can see a mannequin has been assigned to each of you - please do make sure to write your names on them there," she said, pointing at the plate hung around the neck that the Ravenclaw had already helpfully filled in. "And they're wearing a rubbish bag. For now. Anyone care to guess what we might be doing today, before I explain what I've actually got planned for the entire term?" Because this was a long term project, people.
Vivi considered her mannequin thoughtfully as she created her name plate and hung it around the neck of the thing. It did have a sort of creepy vibe, and the trash bag was very unflattering. Not that a mannequin was in much of a position to fuss about how it was dressed.
Her classmates had good ideas - clothing, waterproofed rain gear, even rubbish. Her own ideas weren't very clever in comparison, but Vivi raised her hand anyway. "T-shirts, professor. Customized."
Hannah walked into class and smiled at the professor. "Hello professor." She knew proper manner consited of speaking when you walked into a room...unless of course that person in the room was a puffer...then all bets were off obviously.
She spotted her friend Elliot and went and took a seat by her.
Yup! She was ready to transfigure some stuff!
Yay. Lockwood was here..Elliot shot her best friend a smirk and raised her eyebrows....
The blonde glanced back at the professor as she began to speak...hmmm...
SPOILER!!: Professor!

Hmm...what WOULD they be doing? Elliot thought for a second...trashbags...she supposed that they might be putting clothes on the mannequin...but...wouldn't that be a bit girly? She felt bad for the blokes...she raised her hand...but then put it down. Someone already said her answer...
Eh.
And she didn't want to repeat. not cool.

Right after filling in the name plate thingy with her own name, Sophie looked at professor Magnus again, listening to her introducing herself and whatnot, as she always did on first days.
Aaaand question time! The badger's hand was in the air before she spoke up. "We'll be working on transfiguring things - like, anythiiiing! - into clothes?" If it was a term long project and all, they would have time to practice on all sorts of material, right? "And today we might start off with... rubbish bags." Sounded logic enough. "Turning them into a shirt." T-shirt, blouse, whateveeeeer, any kind of top! Maybe... or maybe not. Maybe just a raincoat like some were saying? Maybe... a random jacket?
OR MAYBEEEE whatever they wanted! Like a dress! Or a skirt! An overcoat! Sophie went on thinking about the new spell they were about to learn as her classmates gave their own answers.

Following the Professor's instructions, Alex wrote her name and house on her mannequin's name plate. Adjusting it carefully around the mannequin's neck, she thought about the Professor's question. Alex didn't have ANY idea what the class would be doing today. Raising her hand, she decided to take a wild guess. "Professor, are we going to transform this trash bag into some kind of outfit that we can wear later to a dance or in a fashion show?"
Silvia reached up with her quill for the name plate and filled it out.

Silvia chose not to raise her hand and answer the professor's question. It seemed clearly obvious that they would be transfiguring clothes of some sort; and there was no need to state the obvious when others have done so already. So she sat quietly, wondering just how interesting the lesson would be, seeing as she really wasn't very interested in fashion. Simple but nice and comfortable was all that really mattered to her when it came to clothing, unless it was a special occasion.

Emmanuelle hadn't even noticed the plaque thingy they were supposed to have written their names on when she sat down for class. In fact, she didn't notice until the professor brought them up. Whoops. She quickly jotted said info down and put the plaque in the appropriate place.
Thinking about the question asked, there was only one answer that made sense to Em. Clothing. "We're going to be learning how to transfigure clothes," she said, her hand in the air. Obviously. They were surrounded by mannequins wearing trashbags.

Ari immediantly grabbed her quill and carefully printed her name on the name plate that hung around her mannequin. Ari didn't really know much about transfigurations, but it wouldn't hurt to take a guess about what they were doing with these things... "Uhh are we making a rocket out of these as well?" Ari asked, thinking back to her Astronomy lesson....it was a reasonable guess.

Penelope had put her name on the mannequin's name tag and then simply listened as the professor started class. They were going to be transfiguring the rubbish bags on the mannequins, but what into? Penelope assumed it would be some kind of clothing, but she didn't feel like answering the question right now. So she simply listened as the other students gave answers and waited for the lesson to continue.

"This classroom doesn't seem quite as full as the last one did," Eliza noticed. "It is a majorly huge room though." Her eyes caught hold on the mannequin next to her desk. "They sure look...well, naked." She reached for her name plate and promptly filled it out.

"Hmmm..." she thought over Professor Magnus' question about the mannequins. "Well, it would only make sense that we learned how to clothe them, since they're mannequins right?" she thought. She raised her hand to offer her idea.
Once called on she said, "Professor, are we going to change the rubbish bag into robes?" She shifted her eyes to see if anyone in the room was laughing at her answer. She knew it wasn't very creative. "So that, if we tear ours or outgrow them...we could get new ones?" That sounded practical enough to her, though she supposed it could put quite a few shops out of business.
She sucked in a deep breath of air and stretched her arms back onto her desk. Speaking in front of class always made her a bit nervous.

Alyssa thought for awhile before raising her hand.
"Professor could we be transfiguring that plastic bag into clothes but not just regular clothes? Clothes that are made of plastic, but of course not transparent or else nobody would dare to wear them. "
Alyssa thought for awhile before adding. "Hey maybe like a rain coat or like those clothes made out of recycled plastic bags."

Juliet is still staring at the mannequin. And according to professor Magnus, each of them has a mannequin on their own. Hence, why they needed to put their names on the name plate. Speaking of which, Juliet should put her own name as well. Juliet then took out her quill and started scribbling on to the name plate

Anya scribbled her name quickly and shakily on the name plate slug across the mannequin next to her. She wasn't afraid of much. But she was terrified of mannequins... and wax statues. And so... when the Professor asked the question, Anya just stared blankly directly at the floor.
Unless these bags would be used to make a mask so she did NOT have to look at these creepy things, then she knew that she would not have a pleasant day.
And so, she continued to stare at the floor desperately trying to ignore the mannequin next to her.

Angel had no clue what was going on but following the instruction she wrote her name around the neck of the mannequin hoping that in whatever she did next, she wouldn't look a complete fool. So because she had a feeling that sooner or later she'd actually have to answer the question she figured she might as well have a go... though she didn't even know what was normal for transfiguration... maybe she shouldn't have fallen asleep while Andrew was ranting...
"Um... something to do with fashion? Like are we designing our own clothes or... yeah?"oh gosh she wanted to crawl out of the classroom smiling she looked confidently as if she'd never stumbled over her words. "Could we make them to go shopping? Like muggle clothes instead of normal wizarding clothes?"

Creepy. That was the only word Ariadne could use to describe the mannequin in front of her. She tried, however, to hide any emotion whilst filling in the plate that hung on the thing's neck. With that done, the Gryffindor thought about the Professor's question. Obviously, they were going to transfigure the bags into some sort of clothing, but what kind?
School robes? Nah, too boring. 'Perhaps we're gonna transfigure the bag into a dress robe?' Now that would be fun! They could each get creative, with all kinds of colours and fabric...

Elise took the plate off the mannequin, dipped her quill in ink and filled her name and year on it. Eyeing it suspiciously, she slipped it back onto the scarytallmannequin next to her. Mmmhmm. Scary. let's try not to look at it.
Beaming wide when Professor Magnus asked what they thought they'd be doing, she raised her hand. "Are we transfiguring the dummies into trash cans?" So that they could use them?
Well, it might have been a little obvious what they'd be doing. Mannequins + rubbish bags = .... Okay, maybe not so obvious to some.
Isabelle looked from child to child as they provided an an answer, some of them not quite what she was expecting.

She turned her attention to the Professor once more and heard her give her little explanation for trying to spook her out of ever attending another Transfiguration class. She snuck a glance over at the over-sized doll again and found that she was still staring at her. Prying her eyes away she turned to face the Professor once more. "Does it have anything to do with making this doll any less creepy?" Mannequin...doll...same thing really. Then people wondered why as a toddler Lex never liked those things.
Alexa would wait for a reply before writing her name on the thing and consequently owning up to it.
Isabelle put her head down and tried to not let the Gryffindor see her amused smile. She had to admit the mannequins were not the prettiest things you'd ever laid eyes on, but... "Not really no," she said, composing herself, looking back up and shaking her head.

Now as for the purpose for the class only one idea came to mind so raising his hand, Gideon prepared to answer her question. "Are we learning spells that have to do with transfiguring clothing items? Perhaps various types over the course of the term, even to go along with the different seasons." It made sense to him especially given the nature of what mannequins were usually used for.

It was obvious what they'd be doing today. Or, at least she thought it was. She raised her hand. "Are we transfiguring the garbage bag into different types of clothes?" she asked. Just what she always wanted to wear--a garbage bag. She lowered her hand then looked at the professor, waiting for her word one way or the other.

Kurumi was able to shrug her shoulders and open her mouth as if she were about to speak when Professor Magnus began the lesson...and told them to write their names on the nameplates around the mannequin's neck. Okay...THAT was creepy... although the presence of the trash bag on them sort of gave Kurumi an indication as to what they were going to be doing.
Which was precisely what was asked of Professor Magnus as well. Only not just for this lesson...but for the entire term. Kurumi furrowed her brow and looked back at the mannequin before glancing back at Professor Magnus she would write her name on the nameplate later. So...perhaps shirts or some sort of top today? Pants or bottoms next lesson? "Will we be learning how to transfigure and design clothing this term?" Kurumi asked as she raised her hand. "With...today's lesson focusing on how to transfigure a top of some sort?"
Redesign Hogwarts uniforms perhaps? Not that Kurumi had ANY real fashion sense as the fashion seminar had proved.

Vee could just picture her mannequin in a straw hat. She loved straw hats.

Her classmates had good ideas - clothing, waterproofed rain gear, even rubbish. Her own ideas weren't very clever in comparison, but Vivi raised her hand anyway. "T-shirts, professor. Customized."

"Professor, are we going to transform this trash bag into some kind of outfit that we can wear later to a dance or in a fashion show?"

Thinking about the question asked, there was only one answer that made sense to Em. Clothing. "We're going to be learning how to transfigure clothes," she said, her hand in the air. Obviously. They were surrounded by mannequins wearing trashbags.

Now that she's done, her eyes glanced over to the professor and then back at the mannequin. What will they be doing with this? Juliet has no idea on that one but the fact that it is a bare mannequin and this is transfiguration class.... Juliet could try guessing.
Raising her hand to make her guess "Are we going to transfigure clothes.... perhaps?" it could happen.

Its a garbage bag... made of plastic Up goes the hand "Professor are we transfiguring them into raincoats?..." wait she said something about the entire term "... or outerwear appropriate for the season?"

"Um... something to do with fashion? Like are we designing our own clothes or... yeah?"oh gosh she wanted to crawl out of the classroom smiling she looked confidently as if she'd never stumbled over her words. 'Play it cool Annie' she thought to herself glumly.

Pullin out her wand, she gave it a little flick and watched as her name appeared on it.

Looking at the rubbish bag, she thought about what the could be doing. Raising her hand, she hazzared a guess. “Are we transfiguring them into rain jackets?” The bags would already sort of keep rain off, but a rain jacket would work better, and look less silly.
Bada bing. Bada boom.
In other words, yes. These kids were quite right.
"Clothes. Yes. You are all right. Which is why I said you were almost correct with robes. It will be more separates than anything though," Issy smiled at the couple of them that were SO close. "Some of you came up with different ideas for tops - t-shirts, shirts etcetera. And the answer is yes to all of that. Depending on your skill level you could even attempt to make a raincoat if you wished," Issy said, nodding over at West, Emmaleigh and Vickers.
"Basically the spell you will be learning today will change anything, as Miss Campbell suggested, in our case rubbish bags, into a piece of clothing for your upper body." Isabelle gestured to her from her shoulder down to her waist, in case any of them were unsure. "And as Prefect Hollingberry rightly guessed, my plan is for you all to learn a new spell each lesson, and over the course of the term create a full outfit for yourselves." Simple, right? They'd get to be fashion designers.
"Now, do any of you have a question before we move on to the spell?"

Minerva couldn't help but bounce a bit in her seat with excitement. This was it.. These were the spells she was hoping to come across in her new book, but now she didn't have to they were going to learn them in class. She glanced over at Harvey and couldn't help but smile bigger when she saw the look on his face. Yes, he knew what that meant once she learned these spells. The fun they had been having the last few terms with the hair just got put to a new level. This was going to be the best class...She tried to control her self enough to listen and be ready to try.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Clothes....
She didn't think that clothes could make these things any less creepy and for a while she thought of telling that to the Professor...kinda sorta like a heads up thing but in the end decided against it.
Of course, considering what the Professor said, they would be seeing these things every class. She was not pleased. Maybe they would grow pretty. Yeah...maybe they were charmed mannequins that get prettier with every new article of clothing. Even if this wasn't the case she was going to lie to herself and say it was because the thought of coming back here to the same creepy doll wasn't very compelling.
With a heavy sigh she turned to the mannequin, quill in hand and prepared to scribble a bit on it. "Just so we're clear, the Professor told me to do this." You know, just in case it was one of those revenge seeking dolls that didn't like 11 year olds writing on them. For all she knew this mannequin here knew the password to the Gryffindor common room and would be back for her later...
Merlin she hoped that wasn't true.

Kurumi ended up blushing a bit at that and was already visualizing herself melting the garbage bag to the dummy instead of transfiguring it into something that resembled clothing. She then turned her head towards it, more specifically the trash bag, and gave it a small tug for no real reason. The Gryffindor had been doing a lot of reading about equivalent exchange - mostly something from a nonmagical fantasy novel - but she couldn't help but wonder if it would somehow apply to what they were going to be doing in class. Transfiguring things into clothing. Which is why she raised her hand. "Professor, does the item we are going to transfigure have any influence on the final product? For example...if I were to try to transfigure something small like a piece of parchment, would I still be able to create a full t-shirt? Or would I need several pieces of parchment to accomplish this?" Also...with the amount of 'mass' their trash bags provided, did that mean they could transfigure something smaller like a vest?

Laura looked at the Professor, she had really hoped to be able to help the Professor with the shop but neither mid, at least they were going to make some clothes using spells. "Professor isn't it wrong to make clothes using magic?" Laura wasn't sure she wanted to get into trouble. "Because if you can just make clothes you don't have to buy them right, or can't you make certain items?" Because Laura was thinking if they could make clothes why didn't people just make them instead of buying them.

Sierra blinked.
She wasn't quite sure how she felt about this. Wearing a garbage bag? Well, technically... She eyed the mannequin. The garbage bag seemed appropriate for it, but then...for actual humans? She guessed some people could benefit from it, but in her case, she'd just have to see the final product.
...and what if the spell wore off, and you were stuck wearing nothing but garbage bags? What then?
Her gaze turned to Hollingberry, who'd asked something about parchment. Oh, so this wasn't only dealing with garbage bags? Hmm...
