Even though it was still quite nippy outside, the sun could be seen rising just over the horizon between the thick sheets of clouds, and even its glow seemed to warm the soul. There was nothing quite like a nice early morning to get down and dirty, to get the blood flowing and start the day on a high note. The kids would surely be thankful.
Standing at the entrance to the Student Garden, Seren had her hair tied back in a pony tail and was dressed in comfortable muggle attire. It was much easier to move in than thick cloaks and robes.
Directly behind her, covering the stone arch entrance to the Garden, was a large white sheet screen. Sounds could be heard from the other side, mumbling and grumbling...
"Gooooooood Morning!" she greeted the students as they arrived. "Gather round!"
Important note: If the Garden Gnome account is not online then do not wait for a post between capturing and de-gnoming.
Unless you want to, of course.
OOC: The lesson has officially begun. If you haven't done so already then please read through the Herbology Rules and Expectations and the SS Site Rules. All SS Board Rules apply. Still chewing on her lower lip in attempt to stop herself from wibbling over the poor gnome that she had just thrown over the fence. Was this reeeeeeeeeeally the only way to deal with them? It really did seem rather barbaric to throw a creature. You didn't throw other creatures. In fact it was frowned upon. Like...if she were to throw Walnut around every time he peed on something or someone in the Gryffindor common room it would be considered animal abuse.
With significantly less bounce in her step, Kurumi returned to where most of the gnomes were, found one with a red ribbon, and half heartedly grabbed its head.
Humans were dirty! DIRTY! The gnome thrashed against the girls grip.

Minding its own business and meandering around for a patch of soft dirt, the blue-ribboned gnome wasn't expecting to be suished.
Murrrrppp, it huffed beneath the boys weight.
Snicker. This one was so unsuspecting..
Ethan lifted the gnome by its head and started swinging him around and around.. Where did that boy say? Tree trunk? Green eyes searched the immediate vicinity until they found the target.
The boy let go of the gnome, aiming for the tree trunk.. somewhat disappointed that the little guy landed just short of it. Glancing at Spike, he said, "I'll get the next one.." Don't you worry..

They were going to be doing something much more exciting? Exciting for who? She watched as the professor practically danced around in excitement for the lesson. Garden gnomes? Oh no, Hannah was not looking forward to that at all. The thoughts of what she had expierenced the last time she was in the student garden had come back to haunt her. This was different she assured herself. Nothing that bad would happen with the professor there... surely. She watched as Bentley uncovered the area and exposed what seemed like a million different gnomes with different colored ribbons on them. Slytherin had to win this for their house... they needed this.
All of her fears of being bit and getting dirty seemed to melt away. She was on a mission and the gnomes better not give her any problems. She scanned the sea of students and gnomes searching for a gnome that has a green ribbon. No way would she help out another house. It seemed like they were every color but the one she needed...naturally. Then she spotted one... the green ribbon was just flowing about like it was calling her. Hannah took off at a dead run and grabbed the gnome by his head. She had a tight grip as if she had been doing this her whole life. "Gotcha!" So don't fight gnome and this will be as painless as possible.

It was close. The gnome snapped at him just as Gideon grabbed for him and it was by a slim chance that he didn't get his fingers bitten. "Nice try, he mused, quickly changing the direction of his grab and taking hold. Now to get him out of the garden, the prefect gazing around to locate the wall in which he needed to throw them.
"Have a nice trip," he said taking breath before attempting to throw the gnome up and over the wall.

Kurumi's hand slipped quite suddenly at the manner in which this gnome began to thrash about. Oh Merlin! Panic overtaking her features for a moment as her hands fumbled to keep some sort of grip on the creature. Once again grabbing the ears, Kurumi plucked the gnome from the ground and began spinning the creature while she made her way over to the fence. She was NOT going to give this gnome the chance to make wibbly eyes at her. Nope. Which was why she promptly threw it over the fence.

Blink.Blink. Ella just kind of stood there for a moment looking at the crazy amount of gnomes in the garden. Her classmates were getting right to it and she knew she needed to get going if she wanted to help Hufflepuff win. What she didn't know, was how difficult it was going to be to get a gnome.
Channeling her awesome spy skills, the stealthy fourteen year old began to lurk, looking for Hufflepuff gnomes. Yes LURK, Theodore would be proud.
After a couple of minutes of quiet observation, she spotted one nearby in the dirt happily noming on things that it shouldn't be. Heh. She almost felt bad about disturbing it, almost.
Creeping up on the gnome, Ella tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and crouched down as quietly as she could, slowlyyyyy reaching out her hand towards the creature. That's right, easy now and
...
"Gotcha!" She cried, latching on tightly to the gnome's arm. Meep!

Minerva was listening to all the answers that were going on around her about what they might be doing today, then a comment made her really look.. GNOMES.. Could they really be working with Gnomes. She had done not just one, but two homework assignments on Gnomes this year. A huge smile crossed her face on the thought of actually getting to work with these creatures that she was just so curious about. Still feeling they got a bad reputation and were mistreated, she thought this could be the chance to learn if there were better ways to handle them.
Then Professor Bentley said the activity and she cringed a bit, not a better way, just degnoming them. A frown crossed her face thinking of the way students were going to be towards the little creatures. Oh this was not going to set well watching these creatures get bruised up just for house points. Still Minerva couldn't help, but be excited to finally see a Gnome and maybe handle a Gnome. She listened to the steps and then got up to start the activity.

They were grumbling and mumbling as they went about their business.
Minerva got up and smiled as she watched the other students quickly start, but then frowned when she saw students jumping on gnomes and being rough. She didn't want to be rough with them. Looking at Ethan she gave a small smile, "I hope non of them get hurt." She knew most would think she was nuts for saying that, but she just didn't care.
As she walked around she spotted a little Gnome alone. Walking quietly, but nicely to it she reached down picking it up. Smiling towards it she was going to try and be nice. "Well hello little Gnome" They were kind of cute really. "I'm going to just take you and place you somewhere else so your not bothering this garden anymore." She kept her voice calm not to upset the gnome hoping this way would work. Looking around she saw students swinging Gnomes around and frowned seeing Ethan doing it as well. Well that was what they were suppose to do wasn't it. She really didn't want to do that to the poor things.

Hannah was quite surprised with herself. She was not one that liked to get down and dirty, but she had to admit that she enjoyed capturing the gnome and she figured that she would enjoy tossing him out even more.
She kept a firm grip on the gnomes head and lazily picked up up. She started spinning him around and around until she herself started feeling dizzy. When she felt like she had enough momentum she let him fly. She watched as he soared way past the point that they were told to go over. Oh yeah... she was a natural. She was hungry for more. She wanted the housepoints sure, but there was something deep inside of her that actaully enjoyed this little activity. She hoped that none of the other gnomes put up any kind of fight. Not that they would want to. Hannah was in toss garden gnome mode and nothing would make her lose her focus!
Sarah knew how to degnome! She had done it plenty of times at home and she had researched it to make sure they did it right at home

Sarah was excited about this. At home with brothers degnoming was fun, yet it was rather montonous more like a chore. Meanwhile in Hogwarts it would be more fun, as she could get points!
She looked around for a red ribbon attactched gnome and she found one. She grabbed it by the head, yet teh head was too big, so she quickly grabbed it by its arm. "COME ON! This is going to be an adventure! Think Rollercoasters..." well not really, Sarah did not think her gnome who looked like a Griselda knew about muggle amusement parks

So this was kind of strange, and Ella actually felt really bad. Worse than she expected to feel considering gnomes were garden pests. The third year just kind of held the gnome at arms length, still holding on tightly in case it tried to make a run for it. MEEEP. But could she actually like CHUCK it over the wall? ...She had to. GULP.
Looking down at the thing, Ella frowned. "I'm really sorry about this." She said quietly before started to move her arm back. She needed to clear the wall the first time or she'd feel even more horrible than she already did.
After a deep breath, the third year winded up and sent the gnome hurtling into the air. She watched with wide green eyes as it headed towards the wall, hoping it didn't like...hit it. YIKES. That would be horrible!
...
but it cleared the wall and Ella didn't know how to feel so she turned away, focusing on the other Hufflepuff gnomes.

With the flailing gnome still fresh in her mind, Kurumi wasn't feeling AS bad for the creatures as she had been after the one that had given her the big wibbly eyes that had made her wibble as well. It was perfectly alright to feel sorry for the gnomes, right? Or maybe she just needed to turn off her creature feels for the time being and finish the task.
Er, right. Because Kurumi was the sort of person that was capable of turning her emotions off. Right.
Somewhat laughing at herself, Kurumi returned to the digging gnomes and stumbled over a few wearing yellow and blue ribbons before she found another with a red ribbon. AHA! Wiggling her fingers a bit, Kurumi reached out and grabbed the gnome by the head firmly and began to pull. LETGOOFTHATPLANT!

lion gnome that did not go over wall, had to stop and ask for directions!
Gryffinclaw-Ravendor • The REAL Hermione Granger
The gnome seemed to be yelping and telling Sarah that it was dislocating its arm or at least that was what Sarah heard in her mind.
Yet she hung it over her head and swung it around and around... The poor creature had such big eyes with fright! Yet she swung it more and then she let go...
Timing is very important when letting go and Sarah had the wrong timing so the gnome flew in the direction away from the wall. Sarah decided there and then to try fix up her timing

Hannah was in a good mood. She really enjoyed tossing that garden gnome. She wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not that she felt this way but it was a little something that she would just keep to herself. She was pumped as was ready for her next victim. She scanned the area again looking for that green ribbon. She spotted one and at first she wanted to lunge, but she did that the last time. Maybe she could make this a little more fun for herself. She could make a game out of it. If only the gnomes were running around screaming... if only. She could still manage to make it fun though.
She decided to stalk it. She walked slowly around it and thought about what would be the best way to attack remove it from the garden. She couldn't wait anymore. A surprise attack was just going to have to do. She slowly walked up behind it. The poor thing didn't even know what was coming for him. She was now so close to it that if the gnome was paying attention he would have to feel her breath on his back. Then she lunged. She grabbed him the same way she grabbed the first one... by the head. "Shhh!" she told the gnome as if he was going to listen. Don't make a sound.
Sarah then grabbed the next red ribboned gnome that she could see. Gerald came right by her and she grabbed him by his arm.
She tightned her grasp around him and examined him for a bit - well she did not know if he was a boy or girl, yet she did not care.
She actually was rather nervous about it snapping at her, yet she remembered that she was lion and lions are brave!

Grabbing a gnome.. a gryffindor one obviously XD *evil*
Dylan couldnt contain his excitement at the prospect of getting to handle them gnome thingies.. get them back for biting him and stuff when he was a little kid. He had just wanted to play with them and what did they do? they went and bit him!! only cause he grabbed them a little too hard, but instead of telling him that gnome decided to bite him! So this was more of getting him back for biting him in the first place when he just wanted to play! After Professor Bentley gave them the go-ahead he looked around as everyone started grabbing gnomes left, right and center. He hid making sure that no gnomes could see him and he surveyed the scene before him.
He looked around for one with a red ribbon around its neck and eyed one hiding and watching all the mayhem from its hiding place, he then was looking around for an exit strategy "Oh no you dont! I am gonna getchya the moment you run you little bugger!" he mumbled to himself as he watched him very carefully survey the area. He then realised that he had chosen his little exit and was about to run, giving a final look around the gnome decided to make a run for it. Dylan was ready for him and like a true lion pounced out from his hiding place and went straight for the gnome, once he was within reach he pounced on the gnome like the lion he was and trapped him under his body!

Going...going...gone.
It seemed he might have had a bit of luck for his first shot since the gnome was gone from his grasp and not anywhere else to be found. Good riddance and hopefully he would not be back anytime soon. Now he just needed to move on to another Gryffindor-tagged gnome so he could help his house the best he could.
He looked around for the nearest gnomes not about to get mixed up in anyone else's grabbing of one of the pests. Just narrowly avoiding a younger running student, Hufflepuff by the patch on his robes, Gideon headed towards another of his own. Yep...there was a Gryffindor one indeed. Now for the grab. The seventh year moved tentatively closer before grabbing for the nearest limb. After the first one, he was weary of trying for anything near the gnome's head.

YES! This was exactly the type of activity that Alex loved. He loved getting down and dirty with his hands, and if he got to beat up some gnomes in the process, he'd take it. Hehe. He looked around and tried to find one of the gnomes for his house, and everyone else in Hufflepuff seemed to find them before him. HMPF. He wanted to play too!
Finally, he found a gnome hiding under one of the nearby planters. "AHA!" Alex exclaimed, diving at him. He felt his hands make contact with the gnome, but would the gnome fight back? It was hard to say.

Max wasn't happy to see them, really, as he saw them often enough at home, but he WAS pleased that this was the task at hand; he considered himself a bit of a professional when it came to degnoming.
Once they were set loose to get to work, Max rubbed his hands together, moved toward them, squinted, and peered around for the nearest, oblivious gnome with a blue ribbon attached. Then he found one on the other side of Ella from where they were standing. Max very kindly and gently pulled her out of the way, then in one quick motion, he lunged at the unsuspecting gnome's big head with both hands.
Minerva was listening to all the answers that were going on around her about what they might be doing today, then a comment made her really look.. GNOMES.. Could they really be working with Gnomes. Well that was what they were suppose to do wasn't it. She really didn't want to do that to the poor things.
Ethan watched the gnome he had tossed scurry away and was in search for another. His classmates were doing such a good job finding them that he had a hard time finding an unclaimed one wearing a blue ribbon. As he searched, the boy caught Minerva out of the corner of his eye. What was she doing? He stopped and turned to face her, eyes slightly widened. "Careful, Min," he cautioned. "He'll bite you.." And he caught her look. Was she angry with him? It took him a minute to realize.. after he thought of the worms in CoMC and what she had told him at the lake.
Walking over to her, eyeing the little gnome as he approached, Ethan said, "They're not really hurt by this.. they just get dizzy and disoriented.. and they come back for more soon enough." Like it was actually fun for them. The boy just stood there for a minute with a small frown. If he actually thought the little creatures were hurt, he wouldn't be doing it But that's how they were made to leave the garden.. by disorienting them. And it was much better than the alternative. They weren't using Jarveys.
Not really sure what else to say, the boy took a few steps towards a gnome he was sure had a blue ribbon. Maybe if she weren't raised as a Muggle she'd better understand them.. Yep, blue ribbon.. the boy reached down and grabbed the gnome's head. Great.. now she was gonna think he was some sort of animal abuser... Sigh.

Sarah swung the gnome on top of her hand like a lasso - and she added a 'whoa' for exte cowgirl effect. She seung it until her hand got dizzy and she waited for the perfect oppurtunit and let go and the gnome flew through the air and went over the wall. GOOD JOB Sarah! she mentally patted herself on the back.

So it was about gnomes. Vickers listened carefully as the Processor gave out her instructions. Suffice it to say he has yet to experience degnoming despite the size of the family estate, their house elves does a good job see? Although he's not a total noob, he has seen gnomes before, usually when he was out for his walks or camping.
He ventured out and looked around, spotting a few gnomes but all were of different colored ribbons. But just as he turned around a be-ribboned blue one has poked his head through. Vickers' eyes grew alert as he hurriedly strode over to the hole and reached out from behind the gnome, hoping to grab its head before it could turn around...
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
Sarah then grabbed the next red ribboned potato head looking creature. Which seemd to fast that it ran away, she ran and got another, holding it tight, it just might of stopped the circulation of the creature. "I am calling you, Gretal okay? Now hold tight..."
nothing, Sarah got a bit distracted at the other people's throws. She decided that this time she was going to throw so far... and she was not going to ask Gretal's opinion on that!

Just as he was withing a few inches of the gnome's head the magical pest felt his blundering presence, dropping quickly back into the hole. Vickers grumbled loudly at the missed opportunity, peering into the messy digging in the grass trying go see where that gnome went. Honestly it could be anywhere underground by now, but as this was his first time to actually try to get rid of one gnome, his catching skills are still not quite at par with the others who clearly have had previous gardening experience like this.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
So humans thought they be strongest? Well this little gnome was ninja. Finger nails extended it pawed at the students face in defence.
Laura wasn't happy when the gnome started pawing at her face. "You little!!" Laura stopped herself from swearing just in time. "Your going to pay for that." Laura started swinging the thing around, around, around, around, around, around, around it went and just before Laura started to get dizzy she released it and hoped it was really dizzy itself.

Ha!
Gnome time.
Lily had only got to play around with gnomes once before at her cousin's house. So she basically had no experience but that was the fun of the class. The ravenclaw nearly hopped for joy when she found out about the gnomes and as soon as the activity started, she was ready to go. Finding a gnome-y gnome off by it's self, Lily prepared to pounce. Sneaking up behind the poor creature, she reached out a hand and grasped the top of the head. "Ha!... Gotcha this time." She said, looking at the creature.
