| | The Student Garden Banner by the lovely and amazing sweetpinkpixie.
As you pass by the Greenhouses you come across an area with high stone walls, and through the arch you will find the Student Garden.
Over the summer holidays Professor Bentley has been working hard to reinvigorate the Student Garden. Come and take a stroll down the winding path. As you go around the loop you will notice a variety of new plants, both magical and mundane, but be careful! You never know what to expect.
This Garden is designated for student use, so feel free to come down and practice your gardening skills. Remember to use your protective gear! If you forgot to bring them with you, then there are spares you may borrow from the garden shed along with any gardening equipment you may need.
There are a number of areas of loose soil where students may wish to plant their own favourite plants. Just be sure you return and tend to them regularly, and be sure you don't let the iris's die otherwise Professor Bentley will not be impressed- they are her favourite after all.

| You guyyyys! urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse So this was a bit awkward.
And this was coming from him, Alec Summers. The dude who was pretty much awkward from his soft, medium brown hair down to his warm, wriggling toes.
But this was for Blue so... being her fake-brother, he had to come, right? Right. Even if he had never even met the little kneazle before. Speaking of kneazles... they were like cats, right? And didn't Blue once say that her kneazle ate everything? Or... was she talking about another pet?
He was also very confused at this point.
Shaking his head, Alec continued walking until his eyes, which were a dull shade of grey, landed on a group of people, most of whom looked very familiar. And Blue was in the middle of the huddle. It was... sad, really. Yeah. And this kneazle must have meant a lot to Blue. Probably even more than her Beater's bat which... he didn't think was possible. A sigh escaped his lips as he continued to walk up towards the huddle, heading mainly for Blue herself.
Upon reaching the girl, the fourteen year old found that he didn't really know what to say. What was one meant to say at a time like this? Maybe some sort of apology? Or words of comfort? ... And maybe he could try and not be his usual awkward self about this? Yeah, that sounded like a plan... that wouldn't actually work out. "Hey Bluetiful," he whispered, wrapping an arm around the girl, "Erm... I'm really sorry about your- ... I mean... Barnabus," And seeing the girl cry just made him want to give her a hug. Although... whether she wanted on right now or not, he didn't actually know. "Erm... I'm sure he loved you lots!" Was that enough? ... Not to him. Alec reached over and gave her a hug as well, just for extra measure.
When he let go, he took the chance to look around at the others and give each of them a small smile. "Erm... hey everyone," he whispered. So... what happens now?

| Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Okay so admittedly Gideon didn't know Blue all to well other than random sightings and the occasional class they might have shared but at this point it didn't matter. When he had heard about her poor cat...poor kneazle being a victim of the locked common room situation he felt he should go regardless. At least as a nameless show of support to the young girl obviously going through a rough time.
He himself didn't know what he would have done if he had been in the same situation, Corvin quite like family and he had been glad the first time the raven had flown to him making an appearance after the first night of exile. But it wasn't about him. This day and this wake he was walking to was for Blue and...Barnabus. An interesting name for a creature who no doubt lived up to the breeds ecentricities.
Making his way down to the student gardens that he had been told was the location of the wake, Gideon found himself amongst quite a few members of the student body already there to pay their respects. He looked amongst those gathered for the living guest of honor and after a few moments finally spotted the girl, making his way slowly towards her and waiting his turn to offer condolences. "I'm so sorry, Blue," he said once he was in front of her. The seventh year tried to think of some...right words to say but stopped...realizing there was probably never any right words in this situation. So instead he opted for a hesitant hand on her shoulder and a soft smile he hoped appeared supportive and caring to her before stepping away for the next friend and to await the start of whatever it was that going to happen.

This was sad..So very sad! Why did it have to be Blue's pet that died and not Cassia's. The Slytherin was so wishing that somehow her owl had been locked up in the common room and DIED there! But no it had to be Blue's. It wasn't good because the Claw loved her pet that's why she was having this burial. Hadn't she loved it, she'd have probably just burn it or left it decay in the forbidden forest. Next time some place is locked, Cassia was going to make sure her evil mean owl was locked up there. And she had no idea how she'd manage that.
The Snake headed to the student garden wearing her black t-shirt and a jacket because it was still chilly. She wasn't so enjoying the idea of having to enter the garden considering plants weren't pleasant things to her and the plant that ate the Professor was enough proof for her feelings. Avoiding any contact with any bush, tree ,twigs or ANYTHING, Cassia made her way to the assembled group. She picked up her pace and stood there. Looking in the faces she saw Blue..a sad Blue which wasn't good. Also, Dora ,Theo and other students whom Cassia knew by sight. Friends of the distressed apparently.
Standing there awkwardly she decided that might as well she speak. " Um..Blue..sorry about your pet." She said. " I hope...."It is my pet next. Nah that'd sound so evil and would probably freak the people out. " I hope you'll get over it because those things happen." Ehh...Okay this was the first time she attended a pet's funeral, okay?!
In order not to say anything more stupid she stepped back. Then she nodded at the others, " Hello everyone...I wish we had met in a better situation than the one at hand." Oh now she really needs to ZIP IT! The Slytherin bit on her lower lip and stared at her feet. Okay..what would they do next? Mourn the departed?

| All you people, but mainly Blue. ½ of Lauralie | Koala | The being in Ern's pocket | Baby Smurf | Prouf member of The Flock
Elise wasn't sure about coming here for the most part. Mainly because the last funeral she had been to was her mother's. But this was not about her now, it wasn't. This was about Blue, her psuedo-sister. She was practically family. And Elise was going to be there for her.
So Elise searched through her entire trunk to find something black and simple, but really all she could find was her cardigan. So she wore the dullest colours she could find and wrapped the cardigan around it to hide the fact that it wasn't black. She'd tried, but the colour changing spell was hard, and she needed work on it. So grey'd work for now.
Elise somehow managed to make her way to the Student Garden without tripping, but this was no time to celebrate. You don't celebrate at a funeral. Blinking, she saw quite a few people there already. Alec, Kurumummy, some people she didn't know. But most importantly Blue. Just as Elise got there, Blue seemed to break out into a fresh wave of tears. No. This was baad. Giving up on her walk and her trip-free streak, Elise ran towards Blue and hugged her. Tightly. And didn't let go for a long time, rubbing Blue's back.
"It's okay. Just cry it all out." Elise whispered. That was the only way she'd get better. "I'll ask my mom to take care of him. I promise." Squeezing her psuedo-sister one last time, Elise backed away a little. Still standing close-ish to Blue, but giving her space at the same time. Because Blue deserved her distance.
Blue loved that kneazle a lot, though Elise could hardly see why. All it ever did was waddle around and pee and eat. And take particularly long cat naps on Elise's bed. But it wasn't Blue's fault, and the creature was still young but that was the thing about pets. They're always taken from you too early.
Turning to face everyone else, she smiled tightly. Raising her hand in an awkward wave, she quickly turned back around. Elise always hated funerals.

Once Lex heard about poor Barnabus' passing she knew she had to be there at the funeral. It was never easy losing a dear pet...especially a kneazle which she knew from experience; but not the losing part seeing as Felix was still over in the Great Hall and away from all this chaos. She didn't know what she would've done if he'd died. Even a funeral would seem too much; she wouldn't be able to handle it. Alexa walked into the student garden, with much less pep in her step then normal. This was a solemn occasion to mourn the loss of a dear kneazle.
When she got there she saw that there were already quite a few people there, luckily she could recognize most of them so things wouldn't be all that awkward; in theory. Slowly she made her way over, giving each person a small smile, Hi guys..." Then she turned her attention to Blue. "I'm sorry about what happened to your kneazle...hope you're holding up okay..." This was the awkward part. The 11 year old knew very little about sympathy. "I brought you this..." She said, extending a box of chocolates. Rarely did she give chocolate to anyone; there was no point when she could just eat it herself and be happy but this situation called for it.

| lives in a hobbit hole || Ern and Touz's Nuzzle || roflysst || looking at a seed packet West had taken his self imposed duty as wake officiator seriously, and he was dressed in black robes (well, he had regular clothes underneath but that wasn't the point) and a book under his arm. He'd been really careful CHOOSING a book, it had to be one that carried the right sort of weight. The kind of book perfect for celebrating life and death, but also one that was.... catcentric.
Ahem.
He went over to Blue and reached out to pat her shoulder consolingly. "So... who's gonna do the honours and dig a hole?" He asked the group at large.

After having given Blue a small hug, Kurumi stepped aside and decided to wander a little closer to West and Dora while others spoke to Blue. Too many people could be overwhelming and Kurumi didn't want that.
Noticing West had a book with him, Kurumi tried to peer over to see what it was and thought she saw the word 'cat' written on the cover. "Hey West, what book do you have there?'

Cheeeeeeezus, person after person kept showing up, and it was boggling his mind a little. Last time he'd checked, Barnabus was still a toad muncher. Blue's toad never got a funeral...
Whatevs.
Meanwhile, Theo got a bit caught up in all of the people trying to pat and hug Blue, so he wormed himself free. There was Alice - ignore. Cassia - wave. Alec - wave. Kurumi - half wave. And a whole bunch of other people that he recognized, but didn't know.... oh and.... "Ella." He lowered his head slightly. She still looked mad, but if ANYTHING, this should be a place to bring them all back together. Come onnnn - Blue's cat died! Group hug?
Anddd.... West, with his book. As for his question, Theo was gonna volunteer, but then he checked his nails quickly and shrugged. If he had a shovel, he would totally dig the hole. FOR BLUE. <3
.......
But he just wasn't prepared to get dirt up in his nails for a cat.

| *points at the wake/funeral people and loves on all of you* Kimothée Chalamet • The UWU Agenda • Once Baby, Now Trouble • All Growed Up Kat spent her remaining time before (or after) class by attending the wake of Blue's pet kneazle, Barnabus. The poor thing died when all the students' pets were all locked up in the Common Room and their owners were forced to leave them and sleep at the Great Hall. Obviously, she went to wear something black. Whatever made her wear a dress, she doesn't know. Maybe it was time for a change. She was growing up to be a lady soon, and she shouldn't be hiding herself with all the jeans and long sleeved clothes. Wearing dresses once in a while would be good, with a jacket.
Alas, the blonde reached the Student Garden where everyone else was gathered around. Kat glanced at Blue to see if she was handling the situation well, but no she didn't seem like it. Crying. It was alright to cry, it's not just a show of weakness but also a show of bravery. Everyone cries, even the powerful. " Hello," she told everyone. She couldn't just pop up there without a proper greeting. The motherly side of Kat was starting to act up as she tried to accept the fact that Blue was crying there. It was not like her to be so... gentle. " Everything's going to be fine, Blue," Kat assured. This was only one out of billion events in her life and she shouldn't make one ruin it.
... Dig a hole? A shovel would be helpful. But there doesn't seem to be any available at the moment. POUT. " Is there a shovel around here?" she asked. Yes, she'd dig a hole for Blue... but no, she won't dig one with her bare hands.

*sniffle*
The little Ravenclaw used the sleeve of her cardigan to wipe her nose and dry her eyes, even though on ordinary occasions it would have been a HUGE no no and totally gross. But her tissue was equally - if not more - disgusting at this stage. She hadn't exactly held a funeral for a pet before (though she had wanted to hold one for WMD, but he had no body left....) and didn't really know what to do. This hadn't been her idea in the first place. It was West's. She rubbed her knuckles into her eyes again and waited for the...many five people that would come? She wasn't even sure people would care about the fact that her evil kneazle that drooled and ate EVERYTHING had passed away.
With a sad sigh, she glanced up at the first..."guest" and blinked in surprise. Theo? But...He DESPISED Barnabus. So the fact that he had came made give a small smile, even though it was a little shaky. "Hi Theo..." Wow that sound so bleak. A little on the croaky side too. Which kinda made her wanna cry some more cause she thought of poor WMD. This was basically a double funeral! Why did all her pets have to die?!
"I'm not crying.." She looked away and wiped her eyes again quickly on the back of her hand. "S-see? I'm fine." His super awkward pat on the shoulder didn't really help though. She really could've used a hug. But she wasn't about to ask for one now. Not like she was really going to get one of him anyway. She was kinda surprised he had been happy to touch her shoulder in the first place. "T-thanks for coming..." I know you really hated my poor kneazle. But she didn't add the last part cause she wasn't in the mood to bicker. She wasn't in the mood for anything.
*wibble*
Then she got the hug she wanted - and needed - from a very familiar blond. Alice. Alice had been the one who had got her the kneazle. Which made Blue wanted to cry again. But at this stage her body was completely dehydrated. She leaned her head onto Alice's shoulder. "No..not really. I'm so sorry Alice. I should've taken better care of him." Though it hadn't been her fault, really. How could she have known they'd be locked out of the common rooms for months? But part of the reason she was so heartbroken over this whole thing was cause she sorta blamed herself.
And that her mommy would never let her get another pet after this.
"You brought words?" Blink blink. Blue really ought to have thought this thing through a bit better. She hadn't even CONSIDERED reading anything. Plus, West said he'd take care of that anyway. She nodded. "Could you read them for me?" If she did it herself she'd probably burst into tears half way through it. And everyone would look at her all pityingly and she'd feel even more sorry for herself.
If that was even possible.
And then someone else was hugging her. The second year just hugged them back, without question and when she pulled away, felt herself welling up again. Ella. After their whole talk about their past, they'd been a lot closer. And it was kinda touching that she'd come. Blue was super lucky to have Ella as her big sister. She kinda just stared blankly at the ice cream though. "...I don't really feel like ice cream. Maybe Alec can have it?" The tissues, were a different story, however. She took them, mumbling a little "thanks" and taking one immediately, blowing her nose, a little too loudly.
Aaaaaand, another person.
That she didn't really know very well. Hazan? Or Harlan? Harlan, probably. She blinked while the girl went on and on, staying silent except for - "he ate a lot. He ate my duvet. And my left show" when she mentioned the sleeping and napping. Before starting to wibble and looking down at her shoes when the older girl mentioned about her Gran dying. "I'msorry." Mumble mumble. She glanced back up at her. "Thanks for coming...It means a lot." It did. Especially cause it wasn't like they ever talked.
She twisted her used tissue for something to do, feeling awkward and uncomfortable.
Kurumi. Blue sniffed and nodded. She didn't actually have a stone though. She walked over to the flower bed and picked up a smooth and round er...it could've been a small stone or a big pebble. Whatever. She didn't really care. She turned back and went over to the gathering before silently handing the graduating girl it. She wasn't in the mood to explain to the others it was a gravestone. They'd figure it out.
Another person joined the group. How many now? Six. It made her want to smile how much people cared. She was just expecting West and Kurumi to come, to be honest. Not even Theo. "Hi Dora. ....It's okay." She shrugged sadly and glanced back at the box that would have to work as a coffin. Blue turned her attention back to her dorm mate and a flashed of colour in the midst of Dora's hair caught her eye. "Your hair's nice." She felt the need to point it out okay?! Even in a time like this.
Maybe Dora could do it for her later? It might cheer her up. Probably for only a couple of minutes though.
Alec with the Hair now. The amount of people crowding her was getting to be a bit uncomfortable at this stage. Not that she was claustrophobic or anything but...you know. When Alec said something about Barnabus loving her lots Blue tried not to snort and be bitter. Sure, she loved HIM - obviously very much - but he didn't really feel the same. He ate all her shoes and tried to take a bit out OF HER HAIR and didn't really get along with...anything. But she still loved him, very much. And she couldn't NOT love him cause when Alice had given him to her, she told Blue she was it's mommy now. And she couldn't abandon it after that. It was much to close for home.
She wrapped her arms around Alec but didn't put much effort into the hug, to be honest. At first, she had liked them but was getting quite sick of them at this point. But she still appreciated the gesture. She smiled thinly at her fake!brother and pointed to the box. "Don't look in there, okay? It's not a nice sight." Just saying. Don't cry. Don't cry.
Blue didn't even think it was POSSIBLE to be able to well up again. But apparently it was. She wiped her eyes with her repulsive tissue as the next person came up to her to give her their condolences. She was half expecting Bliss - because she hadn't turned up yet - and her eyes widened in surprise to see the (boy version) Gryffindor prefect. Had they ever even said more than hello? The only reason she knew his name - Gideon Gert (see? wasn't lying) - was because he was IMPORTANT. And she respected the prefects. Cause they were kinda awesome.
"I-it's alright. Thank you." She hesitated before deciding TO ask him. "....Does the school owe me a new kneazle?" It was their fault for the locked common room.
Ohai Cassia. Blue's lip twitched and flashed the Snakette a tiny smile. She couldn't be too happy about Cassia being here though. Cause she knew how she felt about her owl. And it was kinda unfair when Blue loved her kneazle so much and the blond hated her pet but Blue's died. ;__; But still. She was a friend and was here to support the Eagle. And that was so sweet.
Elise now. Elise was there when they found...yeah. *wibble* "I think I'm all cried out." LIES, LIES I TELL YOU. This statement was in fact, proven when Elise mentioned her mom. Fresh tears welled up. Oh gosh. Poor Elise. She didn't have to come. But she did. Cause she was the best.
Blue tugged her cardigan tighter around her and nodded at Alexa, not bothering to say thanks or anything...Till the chocolates. The older girl's eyes widened and she took them and flashed Alexa a small, weak smile. "Uh...thanks." They'd certainly help. ...Later though. She wasn't about to sit down and start pigging out on the chocolates in front of anyone.
She wasn't about to share or anything.
It was hard enough to do that under regular circumstances.
Thank Merlin. West. He could take over responsibility now. She could just mourn. And mope. And blow her nose on proper utensils thanks to Ella. Eh. Not a great day really. She SHOULD be celebrating getting a proper bed back again but noooooo.
The Circle of Life had another plan for her.
Kat now. And...that looked like it. She nodded sadly when the older girl told her how everything will get better. Of course it would. But for the moment it suck. *heavy sigh* At least she had stopped crying now. And, hopefully for the last time, "Thanks for coming.......Kit-Kat." Cause even saying the nickname made her feel a teensy weensy bit better.
"...I think I saw a shovel..somewhere around here."

Ella felt so helpless as she watched Blue cry and mourn and refuse ice cream. Blink. She refused the ice cream. That's how she knew things were really bad. People who were okay didn't refuse ice cream, they just didn't.
At least the tissues were helpful. That made the small blonde smile faintly. "You're welcome, Bluetiful." She said quietly, looking from the small Claw to the box. Squirm. Ella was so not good at this type of stuff.
As more and more people arrived the third year found herself stepping to the back of the group, staring down at the GIANT ice cream sundae she'd brought. #Awkward. Would it be terribly awful if she quietly ate some right now?
...

The Circle of Life had another plan for her. "Of course I will. Don't you worry about nothin' Blue." West said and then took a few paces to the left, marking out a perfect spot for digging. Shovel or otherwise it didn't matter. "Someone could use that defodio charm." He added, looking at the Gryffindor prefects since they were old and probably knew how to do it.
And if a shovel turned up then that was good too.
He marked an X shape on the ground with his foot. "Right here, under this tree. Good view of the garden from this spot too and a little patch of sunlight coming through the branches. Kneazles like laying out in the sun."
So who was going to do the honours?

Lex was totally understanding of the seeming lack of courtesy the girl displayed after she so diligently wasted her condolences. It was hard to be polite when you've lost something precious and though she didn't really know the kneazle the fact still remained that he was a kneazle and therefore couldn't have been anything short of precious.
At least she the girl was happy about getting the chocolates. When she bought them she had her in mind. If something tragic had happened to her she would've wanted chocolate and she figured this was true of Blue too.
She looked to Kat when she asked about a shovel...
Oh yeah..this was a burial afterall...She started looking around in the immediate area but then Blue said she saw one somewhere around. Mm. She didn't like having to look for things but this wasn't a time to be whiny so she headed off, returning shortly with two shovels she'd seen thrown down just in time to see West make an 'X'. "Who'll help with the digging then?" She asked, extending the extra shovel.

She too glanced back at the box when she was sure Blue didn't need a tissue or wasn't gonna fall all over her crying or something. It was totally sad that creatures had died in this lockout, but it was even sadder that it was one she knew by site.
The mention of her hair had the second year reaching up to gently touch where the blue was, smiling slightly at her dorm mate. "Thanks. Did it for the match." House pride and all that goodness.
Had this been any other moment she would have went on about how she got it and how it would look pretty in her hair too, but more students kept arriving and greeting Blue, and it was starting to get crowded, so she instead too a few steps back to allow space for the new people. And to not be stuck in the center of it all. Quote:

Dora couldn't help but wonder why they were looking for shovels when they could just use magic, but said nothing since West had already spoken up.
Then she waited for someone to start making a hole for the kneazle.
And waited.
.... and waited a whole minute more before releasing a slight sigh and placing her flowers out of harms way. "I'll help." She offered, since no one else had yet to step up. And cause she didn't yet know how to properly cast the gouging charm. This wake couldn't begin until they had a hole for the creature, right?
Taking the shovel, she tried to think of a spell she already knew how to cast, to help her with this, but when none came she just started to dig.

Cause even saying the nickname made her feel a teensy weensy bit better.
"...I think I saw a shovel..somewhere around here." For an instant, Kat just wanted to snuggle Blue. The blonde did not like to see her friends crying. It was the last thing she'd want to see for today, to be completely honest. Seeing Blue in this state was bad for Kat's feelings and emotions. No, she didn't want to look like a WIMP and start crying. In short, she just doesn't want to humiliate herself in front of all these people.
Kit-Kat, Blue said. Kat looked up to see Blue look a bit more happier. In return, Kat smiled back at her. She couldn't force the younger Claw to smile because Kat knew how terrible it would've been if she was on her shoes. Mental note: Never buy a Kneazle; buy a toad for pure awesomeness.
A shovel somewhere. Right. Before Kat could take action, Cambridge had found two and offered the other to someone else. Isidora Miroslava had took the extra shovel. Well... at least no dirty fingernails right?

Cassia was sad for seeing Blue so sad. She had figured that the girl would be sad but not like that. Though Cassia understood, because had it been one of Cassia's cats back at home the Slytherin would have sobbed and whined for days and days. She shook her head trying to dismiss those horrible ideas about her adorable cats. Her owl is the one that must die sooner or later.
She waved at Theo and nodded at Kat and Lex when the girls showed up. Then West came too and he was all business.Well, someone had to take charge as Blue was in no shape to decide anything. Then at the thought of digging Cassia raised her eyebrows automatically. Were they going to do the actual digging like muggles? Isn't there a spell that would make a hole appear? After all they didn't need a very big hole just a small one for the kneazle to fit in.
She watched West marking a place and saying something about sun light and stuff. The Snake wanted to point out that the pet was dead so it wasn't likely to complain but she thought it'd be better if she didn't ruin the atmosphere. Because she somehow unintentionally always did that. Then Lex and Dora volunteered and Cassia's eyebrows shot up in surprise. She stepped closer to the girls, "Are you really going to do it....with shovels?" Why bother? Isn't there a spell. "Well, if you insist I could help if one of you two got tired." She offered then fell silent because she wasn't intending to volunteer. But why did she?! She hates her tongue that moved without her ordering it too! "Although It probably would've been easier for the boys." She said trying not to make eye contact with anyone. Last time she checked all the boys here in the wake here play Quidditch meaning their physical strength should help them. Though now that her friends volunteered she'd help them for Blue and maybe she'd learn how to dig a grave. Just in case she needed it for her owl.

These sort of things were really never fun and they brought back a lot of memories for Ness. Ones she didn't like to think of. The kind of ones you just kept fighting to keep right at the back of your mind. Events like these though, they brought these memories right in front of your eyes no matter how much you did not want to see them. It was terrible and the worst part of it all was that when these events weren't about you, you couldn't act like you were the one in need of hugs. You needed to be there for whomever had a loss.
Walking past the blossom tree, Ness wore a huge frown on her face. Smiling was just impossible for now.It wasn't that Nessie really knew this kneazle nor any of these other pets, but she knew their owners and she also knew what it was like to loose someone, forver, off this earth. It was hard for one thing and the most important thing during those times were friends, true friends.
Reaching the rest of the students, Ness only now realized she was a little late. She had her reasons for not checking the time though and she felt that even if she was a little late she was still here and that's what mattered.
Before the actual burrying started, the red head wanted to make sure she said a few words to Blue. "Hey." She said in a soft tone. "I'm so sorry, Blue. I know this must be terrible for you." These thinsg really were. "Um..just don't keep it inside, okay?" That was a mistake Nessie made before. " Let it out and I promise you the hurt slowly fades away." The Hufflepuff then hugged her ickle little friend and afterwards stood with everyone else waiting for the funeral to happen.

Though now that her friends volunteered she'd help them for Blue and maybe she'd learn how to dig a grave. Just in case she needed it for her owl. Dora was digging like an actual muggle, and not even breaking a sweat or ruining her braid.
She kinda felt like someone should take a picture cause she didn't do things the muggle way often, especially when there were others around who COULD do it, but no one was offering to help out. Except Cassia. The girl shrugged in response. "I don't mind, it's for Barnabus." Which was to say, she was never ever ever doing it the muggle way again unless some other creature died.
If some older student wanted to magic up a whole though, she wouldn't object.
A slightly irritated expression flashed across her face as she rolled her eyes at Cassia's comment. "We can dig a hole better than them." Why did she have to be a BOY for it to be easy? Dora shook away the thought and continued the painstaking work on the hole. Letting the other girl do most of the center hole digging while she worked the edges, keeping them even and making sure it would be big enough for the box to fit into.

There was a moment's pause as she waited for someone to offer their help. It wasn't that she minded digging alone but well she'd wasted her time bringing both shovels over so someone needed to take one so it wouldn't have been for nothing.
Oh good! Dora was willing to help. With a small smile of appreciation she handed the girl the shovel. Now the digging could get done faster and Barnabus would be able to be laid to rest before long. Just knowing that the creature would be getting a good send off was all the motivation she needed. If it were Felix she'd do the same.
She got into a position where she could dig as well without getting in the way when she caught someone waving from the corner of her eyes. Looking up she saw Alice! The girl got a wave too but not a smile because Lex didn't think that would've been very appropriate at a time like this when poor Blue was busy crying her eyes out. Then just before she started digging again she heard Cassia commenting. She gave her a puzzled look. "Why would we joke about digging with a shovel? Sure it won't be as fast as a spell but I don't know any..." And she was only speaking for herself because for all she knew Dora might have been some kind of spell master. There was very little she knew about the girl. Lex nodded at her offer. "That's nice of you, but I think I remember seeing a shed to the back of the garden...you could always check there for another shovel if you really wanna help..." Because merlin knew this might take forever.
She raised an eyebrow at her next statement but before she could answer Dora did. Needless to say she was in full agreement. "We can do anything better than them." But she would leave that there and get back to the whole digging where it seemed she would be incharge of the middle? Okay.
Dig. Dig. Dig. She took a look at the box before she went on digging; just to make sure the hole was big enough.

Well yup, WEST wasn't about to suggest that girls couldn't dig as well as boys because guess what? That would mean that him and Theo would have to do it and really, Theo was busy being Theo and West was busy being the OFFICIATOR of things. And he couldn't get his OFFICIATOR robes dirty now could he? West opened the book and idly began to flip through until he found the right page. After he'd done proper stuff, then cool people like Alice could step up and say words too.
Absently, he patted his pockets to make sure he had all the supplies. Yep. All ready.
... as soon as the hole was dug.

Dora looked over at Alexa and instantly decided that this girl was alright, more than alright cause she KNEW girls could do anything better than boys. Everyone should know that. She continued to dig with the younger girl until they had a perfectly sized hole for the kneazle's box, then she stepped back beside the small pile of dirt they'd accumulated and waited for the proceedings... thing to begin. She looked over at West.

West was doing an awesome job at watching over the digging. He really was. So awesome in fact that as soon as the hole was dug, he cleared his throat, a little 'hem hem' that he'd picked up from somewhere and looked at Blue. "Are you ready to put Barnabus in his final resting place?" As in, put the box in the HOLE. Or y'know, have someone else do it.
He'd do more watching.

Cassia nodded at both Dora and Lex who expressed their opinions that girls were better at digging. They didn't say it literally but that's what they meant...Or what Cassia thought they meant. And the Slytherin couldn't disagree with them. Because she knew girls to be more dedicated in whatever they do. While boys are as adhering. Though this was not general as Cassia doesn't call herself dedicated to anything. Except for her cats.
And she ignored Lex telling her that there is another shovel. The Slytherin offered to help if one of the girls got tired only. She wasn't so keen about interacting with nature's elements. You know dirt..soil whatever it's called. Besides the girls were doing pretty good job Cassia stood watching her arms crossed across her chest. She glanced and saw West watching near too.
The hole was ready. Cassia at first took mental notes but then she stopped because she got bored. And besides if she ever needed a hole dug she'd ask Dora and Lex to help her out....And West to supervise. Good, her evil owl's funeral was all set.Now the owl just needed to die. Final resting place....West was real good at this. Cassia wondered if there was a specific way to do that or just dumping the dead pet would be enough. She'll watch and learn.

Ella had admittedly lost the battle with the ice cream sundae and was still standing towards the back of the crowd, eating a few bites here and there as she watched the girls dig the whole for the fallen pet. Sniff. This really was quite sad.
When West asked Blue if she was ready to place Barnabus in his final resting place, which was nice cause he sounded real legit right now, the third year set the sundae down on a nearby bench and walked back over to stand by her little sis. She was sure this part was going to be the hardest. Goodbyes always were. "It's a nice hole...erm I mean place for him to rest. I think he'd like it here." She offered quietly to whoever was listening, feeling a bit awkward in the silence. She then shuffled a bit and waited for whatever was meant to happen next to happen.

While the whole digging thing went on, Blue didn't say anything.
At all. She just stared at the ground where they were digging, shifting her weight every so often. The young girl hugged her thin cardigan closer around herself and let out a sniffle. Obviously she was still heart broken. But at least she wasn't sobbing or anything any more. She glanced up at West when he spoke to her and wibbled a little. final resting place.
She turned on her heel and walked over to the bench and picked up the box, still not saying anything, and made her way over to the hole.
Blue knelt down (not caring about the muck getting on her dress) and hesitated before lowering the little coffin into the grave.
Okay.
Now she was crying a little again.
